Sometimes when I am calibrating Z, the end stop forgets that it's at it's end stop.

So, when I'm all the way down to the glass and I press Home Z or home, the screws go out of control - and I have to press Emergency stop.

I'm running the 3-14-2014 Marlin firmware. Any ideas?

I have seen this with the new firmware myself. Not constant, but yeah... it happens.

It's a mechanical issue. Check your end stop. Maybe add a lock nut to the end.

I am sure mine is not mechanical (at least not directly) nothing is changing (and the end-stop is engaging).
If you kill it, a repeat home will usually work.

Also, I have to be certain to home it periodically or it will forget where home is and start with the assumption that the head is at home (even if it is not). I now start with it homed every time. Before I could print without forcing it home between prints.

Just a few oddities I have noticed with the latest firmware. They may even be related.

Well not having run 3-14 yet I'll take your word for it. That's definitely strange.

Not mechanical. I can move the head around, home z, move it again, home z, and then if I home z twice, it just loses that it is at Z0.

Adding locknuts below where Z0 is, IMHO, taking a big chance mechanically.

I never made that connection. Good catch.
I will experiment and see, but that sounds like the same thing I see.

That's crazy. I wonder what changed in the code. Can you go back a version and see if you can recreate?

I think I'll just hang with the firmware I have and deal with it until someone fixes it. It's a nit.
