how to make 3d cardboard model

I wasn't sure where to find this. I have done a google search and cant find what I am looking for ...if it even exits.

I was wondering how to make a custom cardboard model. like to types they sell in kits , where the cardboard is stacked to create the model.

seems like slicer programs might be able to do thus. but maybe not as many layers. but it needs to be printed to make a template.

anyone know how to do this ?
