Any ideas what I can do short of buying a new threaded rod?

If it is only the threaded rod it is not likely affecting the print. Make sure it is still tight in the coupler.

Mine has had the wobble since day one and it doesn't seem to be an issue. The motion may cause a screw or two to work their way loose at some point though.

everything is still tight for now. but its a pretty big pain to have to reach in each time to stop the crazy shaking.

That's pretty crazy. Don suggested in the shoutbox trying to loosen the motor screws a little and recentering. I think that's a good idea.

Very little wobble otherwise though, just that loud ratcheting sound

Ya I just saw that I guess I will have to give that a try. I guess the speed is just perfect for the amount of off centerness if you get what I'm saying.

You tend to print at a higher speed regularly right?

sounds like stepper motor.. if you mean the z rods wiggling around, ive had 2 robos and they both did that. there's guys that sell perfectly straight rods.

Graphite or Lithium lube either will last well and work well.
