Check your microswitches on the x axis. Id bet one of them is out of whack. I like to do a paper leveling to get them as close to even as possible. Both switches should engage and disengage at the same time.

somethng odd is happening. for some reason this specific file the z axis doesnt go high enough, i tried another file and it prints fine and doesnt have the z offset problem. i cleaned the rods, cleaned nozzle, pretty much every thing but it seems the file might have somethng to do with it. never encountered this problem before

Check the generated (sliced) Gcode and make sure all of the autoleveling/Z offset commands are at the start of it like they should be.

    Perhaps, or the slicer.
Just a guess anyway until you check the file and see if the correct GCode is present.

When you slice the STL it gets turned into GCode.
Savethat to disk and open it in your favorite text editor.
Look at the start and see if your Z offset is correctly specified (M565 command).

    M565 Z-1.0

    (or whatever your offset is)
