So my printbed was shattered on arrival, and that sucks but my bigger concern is the printer itself not moving at all when I plug it up. granted the bed isn't installed but is it supposed to move when you turn it on?

    pics below//

Sidenote: the shipping box was a bit tight so the box did get pulled apart when I pulled out the robo3d box.

Ok well it's unlikely to be dead so I changed your title :)

Let's start from the begining. Do you use 110v or 220v?

With the voltage switch in the correct configuration plug in the printer and hit the switch. Look underneeth at the silver power supply box, do you see a green LED come on?

Are you able to communicate with the printer over USB?

What happens when you hit the home all button?

Do you have a windows PC you can use? I can't help you on linux. You'd need to figure out the connection issues on your own, which being a linux user should be no problem for you.

That is a self levelling bed that's self levelled for the last time.
On a more serious side I assume it is hooked up to a pc with the correct software and the correct usb driver, the usb driver has caught a few people out including me, also a few people have had loose wiring issues. The good news is they ship replacement beds very quickly, mine was a matter of days but I drilled an aluminium plate just to get started as I was impatient lol. The puppy will be fine just print him an extra large dog toy when its up and running

no I don't have a windows pc. but I do detect it in my /dev/usb/ it's coming up as " Arduino SA Mega 2560 R3 (CDC ACM)
    " which is interesting.

Sounds like you're almost there. Should be fine once you figure out how to connect in linux.

That sounds correct (as far as the Linux device is concerned). I can setup a linux VM and try connecting to mine. Which flavor/version of Linux are you using?

Na but should be ok. You may benefit reprinting it for more stability.

well I'm trying to install repetier host now. hopefully I can get some more luck with that. but cura doesn't seem to like it at all right now. and we're sure it connects without the bed attached right? because right now I'm sorta bedless...

Yeah the bed will just show a 0 degrees for temperature but the printer will fully function besides that. You could try attaching a piece of wood or something flat to do some PLA test prints on.

Dear Shadenhand, please email me at robo3dhelp@gmail.com. I'm going to file a complaint with FedEx. I'd like to get this taken care of fast. I just need your customer info and those pictures would be a big help.

Ok figured it out. For the record it connects if I run it as root. It's complicated but I remebered that from tinkering with the arduino but now I can't get it to move...

Look at the group ttyACMX is assigned to in /dev then add your user to that group and you should be able to access it without running as root.
