OK, I down loaded Matter Control. It looks easy to use. I down loaded the latest version of the firmware. I tried the auto leveling and that's when things started to go wrong.
The extruder head moved up about 6 inches and stayed there. I tried to manually bring it down to the print bed and I got a message saying that the extruder is as far down as possible. I disabled the auto leveler and managed to get the extruder head to the "home" position. I loaded a model to print, used the pre-set ABS settings and the temperatures in both the extruder and the print bed would climb to ALMOST the correct temperature and them nose dived. This went on for about 30 minutes and then for reasons unknown, got to and maintained the set temperatures. I hit print and NOTHING happened. I got pissed off nd shut down Matter Control. I figured I needed a win somewhere so I switched to Repetier and now when I try to send the Extruder to the "home" position, it travels to the middle of the print bed and moves 4 inches off the bed.
I have to tell you, the printer has not lived up to expectations. I have replaced the print head with an E3D, tired adjusting things, had some limited success but now with this latest issue, I'm ready to give up on this machine. I know other people are having success but it seems to be eluding me. I think I am in the market for a different FDM machine. Thank goodness we're getting a SLA machine in soon! Sorry for the rant but I'm getting to the end of my rope here.

Don't use the auto-level feature in matter control. That should be grayed out for users.

I got to it through the CONFIGURATION tab. I won't use it any longer but I can't use the printer either so it's a mute point I guess.

Does it say you're connected to your printer?

Yes. Everything was connected and Matter Control says it was connected.

I shut everything down and in a few minutes I will be taking my wife out for beer and chicken wings. I'll give it another go after we get home.
How do I open the terminal and filter the output?

Is there an issue with the latest firmware update? I'm surprised that Repetier is not working correctly now.

I have been using Matter Control and every time I start a job the hot end is approx. 3 - 4 mm off the print bed and will not stick correctly... I have disabled auto leveling but it keeps turning back on.. any ideas?

Are you watching to make sure the nozzle touches the build plate

The nozzle goes all the way to the build plate and I can hear the click of the sensor switch, but when the build starts the nozzle centers and lefts 3-4mm off before starting to print.

Are you running the G29 autolevel command? What's your Z offset

Can you enable terminal, filter output, then start a print. Take a screenshot of the G29 response codes.

Rmoncello - After you turn off the auto leveling are you clicking the save button that appears and then clicking on "Generate" again to make it re-slice the item.

If you don't save and re-slice it will use the previous settings and, thus, turn the auto-leveling back on.

Disable calibration. Change your Z value to -1.0 maybe

Is there anyway to manually move the print head to a starting point (home location) and then "set" that popint as a new "home"?

OK, I opened the terminal and checked off the "filter output" bow.
I tried to run a print but when I hit the START button, the extruder raised off the print bed where the "home" should be, moved to nine points on the bed but it extruder head kept raising up about 2 or 3 CM each move. Then it moved to a start position and started the print but the extruder head is 5 CM off the bed.
Any ideas how I re-set the "home" position?
