XT requires the higher temp, per colorFabb. running it cooler jams the nozzle (dont ask how I know )

Good Suggestions... Mike, more retraction was my next experiment, right after I do a little work to the Z screws and rods to see if I can reduce some of the ribbing.
This was the first successful print I had with the new blend colorFabb XT. Had several failures, then read the instructions :).. bumped up the temps and presto! gads this stuff is strong. I might be losing my mojo to build an ABS machine.

First year I had the printer that was pretty much all I printed, but I have not used ABS since... I can't remember.
The new filament types and blends have meant I did not need to use ABS for anything as a structural requirement.

I still have a few spools of it, but don't see needing it much.

To the topic in the picture -- yes, if adjusting the temperature is not the answer then increase retraction. For something like ABS/PLA the temp would be my first check (and I would lower it for those). With the XT... nope, it does as you noted want to run hot and here is a suggestion that doesn't likely scan -- try a little hotter on a test print. Unlike PLA/ABS the XT was stringing more when colder.

Well, that calibration solid was very helpful....

reduced the temp gradually, finally settled on 240. so doing the original over again yielded:

thanks everyone for the suggestions... now to work on the ribbing...

The smaller the object I found way less heat works best. I haven't figured out what math to use to change the speed of the print vs heat.
