Someone to create a file for me. Preferable to be free but understand if not. Since I'm new to printing, haven't even fired up printer yet due to broken parts, I have zero experience. So with that said I need a box similar to this

But with changes to fit this board and a window for the LED's to shine through.

And last but not least. The top needs to got this contour.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also what would be a good software to get so I can learn to create for myself?

    Thanks again

ps - is it possible to get my screen name corrected? That typo is going to bug the crap out of me. Lol

Wish I had the time (just too much going on around here), but it is a good starting project for you to learn a 3D modeling application while you get your machine sorted out. Pick a 3D app and get practicing, trust me, you won't regret it! .......go for it!:)

Good question, there are quite a few out there. While I was waiting on the printer I was playing with FreeCAD 14 (free is always a good thing) and I pretty much like it, but I have an AutoCAD background and since I was getting so involved with complex 3D ideas that were flying around in my head, I decided to finally take a bite into SolidWorks (overkill) which I had for a few years on my office PC and never got to wrapping my brain around.
Ask around, pick something that suits your needs and run with it.

The box you have shown in the photo is this

    http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:28608

The box/lid has been created using Openscad and is very easy to modify once you understand how Openscad works

That is where I got the photo of the box. Just wanted to modify it assuming that was easier than making from scratch Ziggy.

My vote for starter free software is 123D Design or Sketchup. Tinkercad is also a good cloud based tool for just starting out. 123D Meshmixer is good for sculpting and repair. Lots of Youtube tutorials exist for all of these.

Having a 3D printer was a good kick in the behind to motivate me into getting started with solids modeling and SolidWork in particular, which has been on my machine for quite some time .....not the most intuitive piece of s software, but geez it's a powerful sucker!

ok. I've got a few things in the hopper. I'll punch out the shape first and post it here. Then I'll turn it into a box with lid of its suitable.

Sorry, been busy the last couple of days. It looks close from what I can tell on my phone. I will have to give it a better look on computer at home later.

no worries. if it's not quite right, i would ask that you sketch something on a piece of paper, take a picture of it and post it here. if this model works I'll swap it over and send you the stl file. pm your email when you have a moment. cheers.
