I had it in the dryer at the recommended settings for drying nylon around 180F but only for two hours. I guess i could leave it in there longer but not interested in doing that.

Going to try vacuum drying the filament either in a heated vacuum chamber or regular vacuum chamber. It would take less time and less power to accomplish the same task. so as long as i can keep the nylon under full vacuum. I'll post results of this once I get all the necessary equipment setup.

I wonder how Team RoBo's nylon printing tests have gone???? Will RoBo be able to print nylon right out of the box or will we need to upgrade the hot end/nozzle?

They posted a sample nylon print in a mini update. It looked pretty good to me considering the limitations of a hot end with PEEK in it, but I didn't see them post anything about the settings they used to do the print. Maybe Braydon or another robo-er can get us the details. =)

Check out Cambo's experiences with nylon... best prints @ 235C which is within the range of the PEEK insulation on the standard RoBo hot end. Still, there are other materials that require hotter temps and an all metal hot end doesn't care how cold you go either, so it is an OK upgrade no matter what. For me, it is in the future but I am first going to learn how to use the printer... when it arrives... waiting... waiting...

Oh, I agree that the all-metal hotend is an upgrade worth doing; In fact I placed my order with E3D for the v4 0.40 all metal kit back on 5/29. =P

to give you guys an example of the idea I'm trying out. here is the concept.

I'm hoping that keeping the filament under full vacuum will allow the moisture to boil out. once it's out, heated chamber will burn off the moisture. well that's the idea anyway.

So would you put the roll of filament inside on a rack then just set that on the stove and hook the hose to a vacuum?

something like that, only if the chamber seals can handle being heated in that manner. I'm supposed to receive my vacuum chamber sometime next week. i'll try heated and unheated to see what works best. This will only work if the vacuum chamber can hold a seal for prolonged amount of time.
