Unresolved print problem???

That sounds like the correct firmware and unless you edited it then the Z steps are correct.
If you have calibrated the eSteps then the next thing is to make sure the nozzle is not getting into a temporary clog.
Seasoning will work with PLA. Clogs are not always permanent failures, they can come and go in a print (extrusion rate seems to fluctuate).
