Hey guys, atm, my R1 is capable of doing short prints. However, upon starting longer prints (5+ hours) the print head just stops moving ~30 minutes into the print. The hardware is fine, and its not overheating, because I'm able to finish short prints longer than 30 min. It's like there is something in the firmware halting prints of a given length, I have no idea what's going on. Any ideas?

Yes, I agree. Look at the communication log and see if there are any errors/timeouts.

I pretty much do everything of consequence straight from the SD card these days.

    It is indeed a micro-SD.

Ok so the print got roughly to the same spot and quit. Back to square one. Is it possible it could be a problem with the model I am trying to print? Any ideas are helpful

Sounds like it could be a model issue. Hard to say.

Try running it through netfabb basic's repair tool and seeing if that helps. Does the print just stop in place?

Yep, the extruder just stops moving and mattercontrol states that the print has finished

Okay, so I repaired the model in netfabb and it got a bit farther into the first layer this time but it still ultimately failed.

Load up the G-code in repetier-host and see if it shows the entire model.

I would suggest posting this on the MatterHackers forum. They should ultimately be the one troubleshooting their buggy software: http://www.matterhackers.com/community/forum

Like Mike said try to use different software (i.e. not MatterControl).

I am having the exact same problem. No idea why.
No error, just stops. Never does it when im watching. Scary thing is, it stays hot all day, till i get home and turn it off. I too think its a model problem (slicer problem) . Only happens with repetier, havent had it happen enough for good data collection, but it looks like changing slice settings slightly fixes it. Just happened again today. We'll see if it workks now that i shifted models around the plate and re-sliced.

Hmm, you might try printing from the SD card. That was much like the symptoms I started getting (although sometimes a USB comm error would be logged). Never fails from the card.

Yea. I wish the thing didnt have that stupid stupid micro sd. And recessed like that. My fingers fumble it... Dont like the extra steps... Extra files. But it does work fine. I just leave my computer there next to it all day.
I am waiting on my display to arrive from china... Then it will be a smidge easier.
If this next print fails i'll try that without re-slicing.

I don't take the card in or out. Leave it in the printer and load it then print from it...

The other question would be... Where's the failure... Arduino board or windows or hardware between.

What do you use to do that? I havent noticed it appearing as a drive. I can do it in matter control... But that seems to be wonky since last update

My suspicion is the windows drivers, but it could be bum hardware. I need to try a USB hub in between and see, but just burring to the card is so easy and i am lazy...

This screen. The Upload to SD card button then the Print from SD card button (which prompts you for which one on there to use) Just have toe save the toolpaths to disk first then load that GCODE file over.
