I think my friend is a bit nuts, I don't see a problem with using hairspray, He thinks the overspray will build up and the robo will bind. I'd like to hear from long time hairspray users, Have you had any issues using hair spray?

I've never noticed anything regarding my rods and hairspray. Never cover or anything.

Really the "off gas" is mostly the chemicals they use to pressurize it. Most of the plastic compounds stick to the glass.

I think your friend is arguing with you for arguments sake. it's a potential issue, but not one of any real concern.

When I use hairspray I always lift the z axis up and put some cardboard pieces to kind of block too much stuff from getting on the printer.

I've never had anything bind to the point where a few drops of oil doesn't correct them.

Do you think people in the 80s had trouble with the hinges in their bathrooms binding :)

Ditto what @Printed Solid said. Never an issue.

If you want to cover components during hairspraying you can cut a case of wine into a nice trapezoidal shape to keep the spray off everything.

Oh, a case of wine you say? Surely no other object would work. (gets in car and drives to liquor store) :)

At some point it might get "worn out" and you'll be in the difficult position of getting a new one.

If we are taking about the case of wine, this is not a theoretical situation.

With proper use it makes all of the issues with your printer go away too. ;)

Yea, although the printer can be more of a Scotch Whiskey sort of problem.

For those heavy duty issues "White Lightin'" is much a quicker solution.
