Well, Everyone's making threads about their printers, but I don't have mine yet, so I'll make one about my Filastruder!

After some miner hiccups, I finally got it assembled. The wiring is a little messy, I defiantly need the electronics case, and I haven't mounted the filament guide yet, I want to do something more adjustable.

Here's a pic, waiting to reach it's temp

Seshan, did you have to buy anything besides the Kit? And if so what? How long was the assembly and how is it?

The only thing I added that wasn't in the kit was the barrel jack, I'll probably replace the insualtion with something less messy. I still need to play with it a bit, but I'm getting a diameter of +/- 0.08 I think part of that is my calipers are not that accurate.

Well the guide is copper wire :p the white stuff is double sided foam tape with the paper left on the one side so it's nice and slippery.

Another filament extruder to consider - http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1622873957/the-fastest-filament-extrusion-bot-makes-abs-pla-i

4 days left on kickstarter. Just thought I'd point it out ;)

    "
    • ExtrusionBot gives you the speed to produce the quantity of filament with out the wait.
    • ExtrusionBot has the smallest foot print on the market. Only 7in x 10in. Save desk space put it right beside you 3D printer .
    • The ExtrusionBot has built in spooling. No need to buy anything else, or spend time spooling the tangled mess on your floor.
    • Speed without sacrificing quality. Currently tolerances better than +/-0.10mm. We run our filament though our own 3d printers.
    • 3mm or 1.75m or anything in between, you choose. Very simple nozzle change out.
    • You are not limited with ExtrusionBot on the type of filament you make! ABS, PLA and we are currently testing other types.

Yeah I saw that, It's nice, but it costs more, I like the spooling, but it appears to just be a motor that constantly turns with nothing watching the filament, so unless he has it so it's extruding at the same speed all the time (the filastruder changes a bit as it extrudes) it may pull the filament and change it's diameter.

Currently printing my first Filastruder print. One of those wacky clown busts. Looks great so far.

I like your filament guide. I am wanting to do something similar.
