    Jul 31, 2016 at 9:46 PM - jim3Dbot: Congratulations, Toymaker........You ARE the Man.................appreciate hard work.
    Jul 31, 2016 at 9:47 PM - jim3Dbot: Don't think you are 25 years old......doesn't fit the experience though..........

Aug 1, 2016 at 6:46 AM - jbigler1986: You find some random shit
Aug 1, 2016 at 7:26 AM - daniel871: I like the bit at the end when he fires the bulb up outside.
Aug 1, 2016 at 8:44 AM - toymaker: thx jim, however i passed 25 years old sometime last decade lol
    Aug 1, 2016 at 8:56 AM - danzca6: well, your profile still says 25...forever young I guess :)
    Aug 1, 2016 at 9:25 AM - danzca6: Oh boy...here we go again...https://3dprint.com/142965/robo3dspecs-on-r2-r2-mini/
    Aug 1, 2016 at 9:30 AM - danzca6: realease date of October?
Aug 1, 2016 at 9:31 AM - danzca6: maybe that is why best buy had the R1+Plus for sale Saturday at ~$600
Aug 1, 2016 at 10:45 AM - daniel871: Yeah, now they have all this stuff about how they're essentially copying the Zmorph's setup (but cutting costs on things to retail for $999 instead of the $4,000 of the Zmorph setup).
Aug 1, 2016 at 10:45 AM - daniel871: Probably saving a ton by not having the positioning system be a closed-loop setup like the Zmorph.

Aug 1, 2016 at 4:53 PM - Gaurhoth: Thanks again for the advice yesterday. Z-Offset did indeed fix my issue. Waiting on a print to finish but the bottom layer was absolutely gorgeous for the first time. lots more to learn :)
Aug 1, 2016 at 4:58 PM - Gaurhoth: Ugh. I spoke too soon.
Aug 1, 2016 at 4:59 PM - Gaurhoth: Up through layer 7 was fantastic. On layer 8 ... it went to hell.
    Aug 1, 2016 at 5:00 PM - toymaker: warpage?
Aug 1, 2016 at 5:01 PM - Gaurhoth: No... posting picture. [IMG]
Aug 1, 2016 at 5:01 PM - Gaurhoth: I mean it went to hell
Aug 1, 2016 at 5:01 PM - Gaurhoth: You can see in the picture, the bottom 7 layers where smooth as butter.... then just ... this
Aug 1, 2016 at 5:03 PM - Gaurhoth: Doesn't even look like the head was going to the 'right' places. Everything is coming up short in the fill
Aug 1, 2016 at 5:21 PM - Gaurhoth: Okay think I figured it out. Seems liek the filament was got caught between the spool and the holder and jammed up

Aug 2, 2016 9:03 AM - daniel871: "Folding At Home Benefits No One" - Said by someone that has never bothered to read any of the articles about drugs to treat Alzheimer's that have been produced in the last couple years as a result of the Folding projects.
Aug 2, 2016 9:07 AM - daniel871: Folding @Home is a project about simulating the many ways a particular protein chain can fold and what the result would be, while Rosetta @Home project has been used to develop specific vaccines.
    Aug 2, 2016 9:31 AM - toymaker:
wow i dont link stuff to facesuck too much but wow
Aug 2, 2016 9:32 AM - toymaker: this guy racked up 1200$ in 7 days on pokemon, i think he said spent liek 300$ on a uber driver to drive him around
Aug 2, 2016 9:36 AM - daniel871: Well, the Olympics are supposedly starting Friday but I don't see anyone watching them for any reason other than for the trainwrecks.
Aug 2, 2016 9:37 AM - daniel871: They should totally adopt this logo though: [IMG]
Aug 2, 2016 9:40 AM - jbigler1986: Brasil is a horrible place for the Olympics
Aug 2, 2016 9:50 AM - JeffTheMess: Is Russia completely banned yet?
Aug 2, 2016 9:59 AM - toymaker: banning them is probably doing their athlestes a favor
Aug 2, 2016 12:21 PM - jbigler1986: Just ban this year's Olympics all together. There will be so many complaints by losers blaming it on health problems due to the country
    Aug 2, 2016 12:36 PM - Bill Monroe: howdy
Aug 2, 2016 12:40 PM - Bill Monroe: There is no point to the Olympics.. therefore, I shall ignore it.

    Aug 3, 2016 5:27 PM - toymaker: im printing a robot arm
Aug 3, 2016 5:27 PM - toymaker: you know to "mama"
Aug 3, 2016 5:28 PM - toymaker: make america manufacture again
    Aug 3, 2016 5:28 PM - toymaker: i trademarked that btw
Aug 3, 2016 5:28 PM - toymaker: daniel wants to ship our jobs to mexico
Aug 3, 2016 5:29 PM - toymaker: i doubt if daniel is even american
    Aug 3, 2016 5:29 PM - toymaker: just sayn
Aug 3, 2016 6:36 PM - Geof: Lol the robot arm sounds cool!
Aug 3, 2016 7:23 PM - danzca6: Toy.. Is the Titan X better than the 1070? I see buzz about that today and some trading in their 1070 for it. Sounds $$$
    Aug 3, 2016 7:25 PM - danzca6: Robotic arm... That is cool

Aug 4, 2016 at 9:13 AM - toymaker: the pascal titan x is like 50% better than the 1070 but is like 1200 vs 450
    Aug 4, 2016 at 10:55 AM - danzca6: Then you should get 2 ...
    Aug 4, 2016 at 10:57 AM - danzca6: btw there is a giveaway for a 1070 in that video
Aug 4, 2016 at 11:50 AM - daniel871: Sorry, I clicked to close the tab the video was on when the naked fat guy in the shower showed up.
Aug 4, 2016 at 12:28 PM - toymaker: lol "clearly the 1070 is for poor people"
Aug 4, 2016 at 1:10 PM - daniel871: Hey, remember that Kickstarter delta I rolled the dice on? http://www.emergin.net/2016/08/04/trium3d-is-going-full-open-source/
Aug 4, 2016 at 1:15 PM - danzca6: is that the same one? I can't find that on KS anymore
    Aug 4, 2016 at 1:18 PM - danzca6: ah, found it...
Aug 4, 2016 at 1:25 PM - danzca6: open source is a good thing right
Aug 4, 2016 at 5:28 PM - Geof: :) never a bad thing for technical people
Aug 4, 2016 at 6:28 PM - danzca6: I wish I could find a spare Robo shell. Just the lid and the white plastic base. I have a project I want to do but want to keep my stock Robo running as is. Too bad those are the bulkiest pieces.
Aug 4, 2016 at 6:45 PM - toymaker: laser robo?
Aug 4, 2016 at 6:45 PM - toymaker: fish tank?
Aug 4, 2016 at 6:49 PM - danzca6: Haha... No just some design and material changes that might require me to do some cutting of the shell.
Aug 4, 2016 at 6:56 PM - danzca6: Now that you mention it, I've always wanted to make the Robo enclosure look like r2d2. The profile of the sides already look like his legs.
    Aug 4, 2016 at 6:57 PM - danzca6: That's just crazy talk though
    Aug 4, 2016 at 6:57 PM - danzca6: :)

    Aug 5, 2016 at 12:11 AM - Shigemal: Does Marlin works M600 correctly ?
Aug 5, 2016 at 12:14 AM - Shigemal: I have problem on M600 (Change filament) extracting old remaining filament at outside position but resume position is always offset in X direction about 10mm
Aug 5, 2016 at 4:49 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
Aug 5, 2016 at 6:52 AM - danzca6: Why is it when my kids have a birthday it's me that feels a year older?
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:04 AM - Malte: Why does my robo 3d remove the filament before printing?
    Aug 5, 2016 at 7:07 AM - danzca6:
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:07 AM - danzca6: what did you do to piss it off? haha
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:07 AM - danzca6: at what point is it retracting so far to pop the filament out?
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:09 AM - danzca6: does it complete the abl first or is it right away?
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:12 AM - danzca6: is your extruder stepper plugged in backwards?
    Aug 5, 2016 at 7:13 AM - danzca6: are you still there?
    Aug 5, 2016 at 7:13 AM - danzca6: haha
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:13 AM - Malte: WHen the print starts it removes the filament i have no idea why
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:13 AM - danzca6: wonder if it is something in your start gcode
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:14 AM - danzca6: what slicer are you using
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:15 AM - Malte: Im using cura, this is my gcode
    Aug 5, 2016 at 7:15 AM - Malte: G28 G1 Z5 F5000 ; lift Z by 5mm M565 Z-.7.2 ; set the offset for auto-leveling mechanism G29 ; run auto-level
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:17 AM - danzca6: that's it? Mine extrudes 3mm right after the G29 then starts printing the model. so yours gets past the G29 and then pops out the filament? Has it always done that or just recently started?
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:19 AM - Malte: It has recently started
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:19 AM - Malte: It was fine yesterday
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:19 AM - danzca6: any changes to the printer or firmware since yesterday?
    Aug 5, 2016 at 7:19 AM - Malte: Nope
    Aug 5, 2016 at 7:20 AM - danzca6: that is crazy
    Aug 5, 2016 at 7:20 AM - danzca6: I've never heard of that
    Aug 5, 2016 at 7:21 AM - Malte: Yeah
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:22 AM - danzca6: you see the motor actually turn in reverse or is it just the filament snapping?
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:22 AM - Malte: I see the motor turn in reverse
    Aug 5, 2016 at 7:23 AM - danzca6: wow
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:23 AM - danzca6: have you tried another model?
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:24 AM - Gaurhoth: So it really seems like my bed is pretty warped around the edges. Trying to print anything in the 7-8" range and I can't get ABS filament to lay down on the edges... nozzle just prints in air
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:24 AM - danzca6: maybe it's something crazy train with the gcode for that model
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:24 AM - Gaurhoth: using paper test... the middle is relatively high to everything else
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:24 AM - danzca6: ABS needs heat and our heater isn't as big as the build area
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:25 AM - Gaurhoth: Yea, I know. I moved the print to be in the heated area
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:25 AM - Gaurhoth: It's on the edges of the heater. I guess it could be 'colder' than the middle, but even so I'm a good .2mm lower on the edges than the middle per paper test
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:25 AM - Malte: No i havent ill try
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:26 AM - danzca6: G that is odd to have it warped like that
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:26 AM - danzca6: have you put a straight edge across it to confirm
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:27 AM - danzca6: I'm wondering if your x axis rods are bent down in the middle a bit
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:27 AM - Gaurhoth: no. don't have one available. guess I could pick one up.
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:28 AM - Gaurhoth: been struggling for a few months. first 3d printer, knew there would be a learning curve, but man this is starting to frustrate me. sigh. </whining>
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:29 AM - Gaurhoth: I'll pick up a straight edge and see I can confirm the warping or if there is something else I'm doing wrong with the paper test
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:30 AM - danzca6: could take the glass off and lay it upside down on a flat table and see if it rocks
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:35 AM - Malte: Wow danzca6 it was the model i tried another model and it worked. thanks
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:36 AM - danzca6: np...not sure what model you were printing, but that is crazy
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:37 AM - Gaurhoth: am I missing something or is the only way to take the bed off completely to open up the bottom of the unit and unplug the wire underneath where I assume it plugs into the controller?
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:38 AM - danzca6: You can move your Z way up and then angle/slide the bed out the back and lay it down without unplugging it
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:39 AM - Gaurhoth: okay. I'll have to relocate the unit to have room for that. one more question.
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:39 AM - Gaurhoth: what kind of tape is this on the bottom. All this looks 'saggy' the corkboard is falling (not sure if you can see the sagging or not). Tape is peeling off in areas. Not sure if any of that could be causing some uneven heating or not.
    Aug 5, 2016 at 7:39 AM - Gaurhoth: [IMG]
    Aug 5, 2016 at 7:40 AM - danzca6: HVAC tape
    Aug 5, 2016 at 7:40 AM - Gaurhoth: ok
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:40 AM - danzca6: I've bought some from home depot and used it accross the whole board
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:42 AM - danzca6: that should solve the drooping
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:42 AM - danzca6: will help with it hanging up under there as well
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:48 AM - Gaurhoth: yea, I will do that after I determine if the plate is flat. Not convinced this table is perfectly flat, but it definitely feels 'bowed'. If I hold left side down completely flush, the right side is ever so slihgtly off the table
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:49 AM - danzca6: how old is your printer?
    Aug 5, 2016 at 7:50 AM - Gaurhoth: April - 4 mo
Aug 5, 2016 at 7:50 AM - danzca6: I would open a call with Robo and if you can determine that it is truely bowed maybe they can send you a new plate
    Aug 5, 2016 at 7:51 AM - danzca6: you have a 6mo part replacement warranty
Aug 5, 2016 at 8:05 AM - Gaurhoth: Not sure if I am confident how straight this ruler is but yea, 'seems' bowed to me... opinion? [IMG]
Aug 5, 2016 at 8:06 AM - Gaurhoth: The reflection makes it seem more severe than it is... but there's a definite gap measuring from top left to bottom right
Aug 5, 2016 at 8:09 AM - danzca6: yeah...bowed...not sure I have tried that on my bed to see how it compares
Aug 5, 2016 at 8:10 AM - danzca6: now...depending on how brave you are...haha...there is a new feature coming in the next release of Marlin called Mesh leveling that might compinsate for this
Aug 5, 2016 at 8:11 AM - danzca6: I would call Robo though first and see if they would see this as enough to replace the bed since you are still under warranty
Aug 5, 2016 at 8:14 AM - Gaurhoth: heh, yea. maybe when I'm out of warranty :)
Aug 5, 2016 at 8:14 AM - Gaurhoth: used some calipers to measure the gap. 0.77mm height difference from corner to corner
Aug 5, 2016 at 8:14 AM - danzca6: the timing might be right where the finall release is ready by then
Aug 5, 2016 at 8:14 AM - danzca6: that's a lot for when looking at .2 layer heights and such
Aug 5, 2016 at 8:15 AM - Gaurhoth: yea. Going to open a ticket and send them the pictures and see what they say. No sense fighting something if it's just a bad part
Aug 5, 2016 at 8:16 AM - Gaurhoth: not sure what the expected tolerances are but that seems excessive
    Aug 5, 2016 at 8:16 AM - danzca6: agreed
Aug 5, 2016 at 9:20 AM - Gaurhoth: I guess this kinda makes sense why I've had soo much trouble figuring out my Z offset. It depends on where on the plate I'm printing.
Aug 5, 2016 at 9:21 AM - Gaurhoth: I usually would stop the print after a few seconds when it was obvious that the nozzle was too close and tweak it ... then the next part which might start in a different location would be screwed up
Aug 5, 2016 at 11:59 AM - daniel871: Hey Danzca, the upgraded Monoprice i3 is up on the website now.
    Aug 5, 2016 at 11:59 AM - daniel871: http://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=107&cp_id=10724&cs_id=1072403&p_id=15711&seq=1&format=2
Aug 5, 2016 at 11:59 AM - daniel871: Now with the control system in the bottom of the frame with a touch-screen controller.
    Aug 5, 2016 at 12:34 PM - danzca6: holy crap...that's awesome. Only $399
Aug 5, 2016 at 12:36 PM - danzca6: of course...out of stock for the next month
Aug 5, 2016 at 12:43 PM - daniel871: That's because these particular printers have become ridiculously popular pretty much everywhere that talks about 3d printers for beginners.
Aug 5, 2016 at 12:46 PM - danzca6: I'm sure they will have another 20% off sale in that amount of time as well. That would be a heck of a deal for a second machine.

Aug 6, 2016 at 7:10 AM - danzca6: At the eye doctor and they have an Oakley display case that is metal with rivets and glass surround. All I can think about is making it into a 3d printer. It would make an awesome case. I think it's a sickness.

Aug 6, 2016 at 10:31 AM - danzca6: did you already build your enclosure?
Aug 6, 2016 at 10:32 AM - Bill Monroe: no. I just got it running :)
Aug 6, 2016 at 10:32 AM - danzca6: well, I would love to watch the video if you get a chance to upload it
Aug 6, 2016 at 10:32 AM - Bill Monroe: ya... give me a min
Aug 6, 2016 at 10:34 AM - Bill Monroe: processing now
    Aug 6, 2016 at 10:34 AM - danzca6: awesome
    Aug 6, 2016 at 10:35 AM - Bill Monroe:
    Aug 6, 2016 at 10:38 AM - danzca6: nice
Aug 6, 2016 at 10:38 AM - danzca6: gotta feel good seeing chips fly on it finally
Aug 6, 2016 at 10:48 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, sure do
Aug 6, 2016 at 10:49 AM - Bill Monroe: this CAM software though is frustrating
Aug 6, 2016 at 12:56 PM - Bill Monroe: good afternoon

Aug 7, 2016 7:07 AM - danzca6: mornings like this I am glad to only have one daughter...though I really do wish I had more kids. Post teenage party headache
Aug 7, 2016 8:25 AM - NFOsec: danz: you wouldn't have had a headache if you didn't party with them, wore ear plugs, or inebreviated yourself enough so you wouldn't feel a thing. :)
Aug 7, 2016 12:49 PM - danzca6: no drinking done last night. Just a lot of laughing. Glad my wife talked me out of letting them all stay and do a sleep over. Needed the R&R.
Aug 7, 2016 5:19 PM - toymaker: well i finaly bought a ship fo star citizen
Aug 7, 2016 5:20 PM - toymaker: anyone want to join my crew? i got a space expolaration frigate

Aug 8, 2016 at 5:13 AM - daniel871: StarCitizen is basically the funniest video game scam ever (especially since the demos so far are glorified CryEngine mods).
    Aug 8, 2016 at 5:18 AM - daniel871: http://www.dereksmart.org/2015/07/interstellar-citizens/
    Aug 8, 2016 at 5:29 AM - daniel871: Also this: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/art...alk-Star-Citizen-and-the-State-of-the-Company
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:31 AM - danzca6: Watch from 8:30 to 9:30. "3D printers will save the world" Jay Leno says so. Haha. Can't believe how much Mercedes charges for a plastic knob.
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:32 AM - danzca6: the whole video is actually pretty good. The beginning where they stitch fix the old 20 L 4 cylinder block is a pretty cool method
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:34 AM - danzca6: Thanks Daniel for clearing up what StarCitizen is. I didn't know what toy was talking about. Funny guy

Aug 8, 2016 at 8:40 AM - toymaker: star citizen is amazing even in thr alpha stage... graphics are some of the best, daniel stop trolling btw
Aug 8, 2016 at 8:42 AM - toymaker: i can fly my ship, do missions with my buddies, shoot people who try to steal my bad ass ship
Aug 8, 2016 at 8:48 AM - toymaker: so i have no idea what daniel aka "short circuit" is talking about...
    Aug 8, 2016 at 8:50 AM - toymaker: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/
Aug 8, 2016 at 9:10 AM - daniel871: Whatever you have to tell yourself to justify spending $300 on a game that hasn't actually been released yet.
Aug 8, 2016 at 9:10 AM - daniel871: Wait, on a ship model for a game that hasn't been released yet.
Aug 8, 2016 at 9:19 AM - daniel871: Star Citizen is basically the R2 of space-combat-sim video games. It was even originally promised as being released in 2014.
Aug 8, 2016 at 9:19 AM - daniel871: Robo3D would have probably loved to have received the same crowdfunding support as the StarCitizen campaign though.
Aug 8, 2016 at 9:26 AM - daniel871: Also, it isn't like there wasn't already a game released back in 2014 that has 90% of the Star Citizen promised features already in it (Elite Dangerous, if that's your thing).
Aug 8, 2016 at 12:50 PM - Malte: Is There any make my printer quieter if i want to print during the night?
    Aug 8, 2016 at 1:02 PM - danzca6: great question
Aug 8, 2016 at 1:02 PM - danzca6: put it in your closet?
Aug 8, 2016 at 1:04 PM - danzca6: seriously though, most of the noise is fan noise. If you get quieter ones that will help. There are better PSUs that are quiter, there are stepper motor dampers that are supposed to suppress some noise....the list goes on
Aug 8, 2016 at 1:05 PM - danzca6: I wish I could rig up an old xbox 360 power brick to power it instead of the factory PSU.
Aug 8, 2016 at 1:05 PM - danzca6: there are some threads on here about it as well
Aug 8, 2016 at 1:14 PM - Malte: Okay thanks ill try upgrading fans
Aug 8, 2016 at 2:22 PM - Geof: Malte be cautious what fans you buy some that are "quieter" are very low airflow.
Aug 8, 2016 at 4:02 PM - Ryan TeGantvoort: like the Scythe Mini Kaze, could hardly tell it was running by noise and airflow.
Aug 8, 2016 at 4:23 PM - Malte: How big should the fans be?
Aug 8, 2016 at 4:25 PM - Malte: and how many volts
    Aug 8, 2016 at 5:15 PM - danzca6: 12V fans
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:16 PM - danzca6: extruder fan is 25mm stock but you can go 30-40mm with adapters from Thingiverse. Bottom RAMPS fan is 40mm but I have a 60 and an 80 that I am looking at adding
    Aug 8, 2016 at 5:16 PM - danzca6: part cooling fan is 40mm
    Aug 8, 2016 at 5:16 PM - danzca6: can do a 40x20mm with that
    Aug 8, 2016 at 5:16 PM - danzca6: stock fans are all 10mm thick
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:17 PM - danzca6: like Geof said, just make sure the air flow is close to stock or more
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:17 PM - danzca6: you can even make an enclosure and that helps kill some noise as well
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:18 PM - danzca6: Mike Kelly has one for sale at Printedsolid.com
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:18 PM - danzca6: or you can make your own as others have on here as detailed in other threads
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:20 PM - Malte: Thanks! and where do i find stepper motor damper's
    Aug 8, 2016 at 5:21 PM - danzca6: http://www.filastruder.com/collections/electronics/products/astrosyn-damper-my17rmdamp
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:21 PM - danzca6: I have five sitting here, but haven't installed any to try
    Aug 8, 2016 at 5:21 PM - Malte: Thanks
    Aug 8, 2016 at 5:21 PM - Malte: Okay
    Aug 8, 2016 at 5:21 PM - danzca6: I'm sure X and Y stepper motors will give you the most bang...probably not needed on Z and E
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:22 PM - Malte: Okay thanks alot!
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:22 PM - danzca6: there are some threads about making these quieter on here that will give you more info from others who have gone down that path
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:23 PM - danzca6: I bought a db meter and want to try seeing what methods give you the most for your $
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:23 PM - danzca6: just need some time to go through it all
    Aug 8, 2016 at 5:23 PM - Malte: okay
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:23 PM - danzca6: but....a closet might be the cheapest method right now :) haha
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:24 PM - danzca6: I can't believe how quiet other printers are and how loud the Robo is
    Aug 8, 2016 at 5:24 PM - Malte: Yeah :p
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:25 PM - danzca6: You can even look at these, but that is a stretch for budget. http://www.filastruder.com/collecti.../silentstepstick-tmc2130-stepper-motor-driver
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:26 PM - danzca6: like I said...lost of options out there in the name of quieter operation
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:27 PM - Malte: yeah I'll maybe just get the dampers
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:28 PM - Malte: and see how it sounds
    Aug 8, 2016 at 5:28 PM - danzca6: yeah, baby steps
    Aug 8, 2016 at 5:28 PM - Malte: yea
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:34 PM - danzca6: even printing some feet and putting a felt or rubber pad under them help a bit
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:34 PM - Malte: Yeah i can print some feets
Aug 8, 2016 at 5:35 PM - Malte: if it help
    Aug 8, 2016 at 5:35 PM - Malte: helps*
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:20 PM - Geof: Ive heard mike kellys enclosure on printedsolid.com helps quite a bit with noise :)
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:22 PM - Malte: okay ill check it out thank you
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:24 PM - Geof: Personally I like where's Waldo's upgrades for x and y bushings to replace the bearings and better quality fans, but the noise never bothered me as all my printers are in their own room :)
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:24 PM - Geof: Those upgrades were done for other reasons :)
    Aug 8, 2016 at 6:24 PM - danzca6: just a nice side benefit
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:25 PM - danzca6: I agree that the bronze bushings are a nice upgrade as well
    Aug 8, 2016 at 6:26 PM - Malte: Okay
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:28 PM - Geof: danzca I can't believe I never put two and two together but the noise of my printers is far less than the volume of destiny lol. Maybe that's why they don't bother me, can't hear it over the video games :)
    Aug 8, 2016 at 6:29 PM - danzca6: haha
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:29 PM - danzca6: was it fans with sleeve bearings that WW recommended?
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:31 PM - Geof: Noctura is what I recall Waldo talking about. I have ever cool brand in and their much quieter than whatever my stock fans are. I have nocturnal on my home built and they are quiet with good air flow
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:31 PM - Geof: Noctura not nocturnal lol
    Aug 8, 2016 at 6:31 PM - danzca6: we get the idea ;)
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:32 PM - danzca6: I think that is right though he liked that brand
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:34 PM - Geof: I tried a few different fans and I really like the ever cool 40mm. I have both parts fans and the cold end fan with those. Powersupply is a bit loud but meh lol easy to tell when the print is done lol
    Aug 8, 2016 at 6:34 PM - danzca6: I bought a switching meanwell psu to install
    Aug 8, 2016 at 6:34 PM - danzca6: should be quieter
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:35 PM - danzca6: you think we could power these with a brick from something like an xbox 360?
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:35 PM - danzca6: I know the ultimaker just uses a power adapter brick
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:35 PM - danzca6: that would make things quieter
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:37 PM - Geof: Hmmm... I never really thought about it. I think the meanwell is easier. I'd have to look up the wiring diagram for a 360 and see if it has the voltages needed. Cool idea.
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:37 PM - Geof: Ultimaker does? I bought a ditto pro instead of the ultimaker lol, I didn't know they used a brick.
    Aug 8, 2016 at 6:37 PM - danzca6: I have like 4 of them...I should try it someday...with all the other projects...haha
    Aug 8, 2016 at 6:38 PM - danzca6: yeah the um2 does use a brick
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:38 PM - danzca6: I was looking at building a clone and was surprised by that as well
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:39 PM - danzca6: they have a weird end on it for plugging into the board though
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:40 PM - Geof: That's crazy. I'll have to look into that and see what their doing.
    Aug 8, 2016 at 6:40 PM - danzca6: https://ultimaker.com/en/resources/156-installation
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:41 PM - danzca6: towards the bottom shows the connector
    Aug 8, 2016 at 6:43 PM - danzca6: looks like they use a 24V 12.3A
    Aug 8, 2016 at 6:43 PM - danzca6: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/pro...rinter-24V-12-3A-10A/1935424_32503516739.html
    Aug 8, 2016 at 6:45 PM - Geof: Oh I didn't realize they were 24v printers ?
    Aug 8, 2016 at 6:46 PM - danzca6: yeah, I guess...that would be a nice upgrade as well....haha
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:48 PM - Geof: Lol nah I like having all one kind of parts in my printers. Stocking individual parts for all 4 printers would sssuuuuucccckkkkk
    Aug 8, 2016 at 6:49 PM - danzca6: It's a sickness Geof
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:51 PM - danzca6: hey, what part of IL do you live in? I'm west of Chicago
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:57 PM - Geof: Lol it is man. I'm in bloomington
Aug 8, 2016 at 6:58 PM - Geof: Bout 2 hours down 55 from chicago

Aug 8, 2016 at 7:02 PM - danzca6: that's a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it
Aug 8, 2016 at 7:03 PM - danzca6: nice area though. Drove through there many of times
Aug 8, 2016 at 7:03 PM - Geof: Lol it's a nice area but no in town suppliers lol

Aug 9, 2016 at 3:51 AM - JeffTheMess: good morning roboneers, this place still alive?
    Aug 9, 2016 at 4:21 AM - danzca6: Yes... There's a pulse
    Aug 9, 2016 at 4:22 AM - danzca6: Morning Jeff
Aug 9, 2016 at 4:23 AM - JeffTheMess: hows it going
Aug 9, 2016 at 4:34 AM - danzca6: Dragging this morning... Not wanting to go into work
Aug 9, 2016 at 4:34 AM - JeffTheMess: same here
Aug 9, 2016 at 4:36 AM - danzca6: Having one of those "Can't I just shrug off my responsibilities and play with my printer all day" kind of days
Aug 9, 2016 at 4:41 AM - danzca6: Waldo got me looking at RC7 and now I just want to figure out my issue with using the IR with it.
Aug 9, 2016 at 4:42 AM - danzca6: I keep saying this, but I need another printer so I can have one to play with and one to print with
Aug 9, 2016 at 4:47 AM - JeffTheMess: a second printer would be good
Aug 9, 2016 at 5:23 AM - daniel871: Get that Monoprice I've been telling you about.
    Aug 9, 2016 at 5:45 AM - danzca6: I know I know
Aug 9, 2016 at 5:46 AM - danzca6: I don't know why I just want another Robo though. One that I can keep stock and the other I can customize all I want.
Aug 9, 2016 at 5:53 AM - JeffTheMess: robo would be good if you like headaches
Aug 9, 2016 at 5:57 AM - danzca6: you know, I have had pretty good luck with mine. I know there are some horror stories out there, but mine has been chugging along with just normal wear and tear issues or issues that were my own fault.
Aug 9, 2016 at 6:03 AM - daniel871: That Monoprice I got? No issues. I've done upgrades to it to increase certain capabilities (all-metal hotend to get rid of the PTFE liner that wears out, etc.) and it just chugs along and prints whatever I tell it to print.
Aug 9, 2016 at 6:04 AM - daniel871: If the only printer you've ever used is a Robo you owe it to yourself to give that $350-$399 Monoprice i3 a try just so you have something other than the Robo as a baseline.
Aug 9, 2016 at 6:04 AM - daniel871: Monoprice has that 30-day money back return policy if you decide you don't like it.
Aug 9, 2016 at 6:05 AM - daniel871: Also, an honest-to-god one year parts/replacement warranty that people have actually used without having to jump through a million hoops to have it honored.
    Aug 9, 2016 at 6:06 AM - danzca6: man I know it...there are several I would love to have...
Aug 9, 2016 at 6:07 AM - daniel871: That Trium kickstarter Delta should be shipping soon as well.
Aug 9, 2016 at 6:07 AM - danzca6: yeah a delta would be a great one to have around
    Aug 9, 2016 at 6:07 AM - daniel871: http://www.emergin.net/ressources/
    Aug 9, 2016 at 6:08 AM - daniel871: They're also going open-source.
    Aug 9, 2016 at 6:08 AM - danzca6: that's great news
Aug 9, 2016 at 6:09 AM - danzca6: makes me sad to see Robo going the opposite direction
Aug 9, 2016 at 6:09 AM - daniel871: Check that link out. They have their version of Marlin RC7 posted up and the IGS files for 3d model importing if you want to look at their design.
Aug 9, 2016 at 6:10 AM - danzca6: a company keeping up with the latest firmware as well...nice
    Aug 9, 2016 at 6:11 AM - daniel871: I'm getting the 220mm diameter x 440mm Z build space version.
    Aug 9, 2016 at 6:13 AM - danzca6: that
Aug 9, 2016 at 6:13 AM - daniel871: Importing their regular head model into Solidworks now to see how it looks.
    Aug 9, 2016 at 6:13 AM - danzca6: that's a good size
    Aug 9, 2016 at 6:14 AM - daniel871: Yep.
Aug 9, 2016 at 6:14 AM - daniel871: Solidworks is having to chew over the IGS file, may take a bit on this rig.
Aug 9, 2016 at 6:15 AM - danzca6: does the monoprice run marlin firmware?
    Aug 9, 2016 at 6:15 AM - daniel871: No. Repetier.
Aug 9, 2016 at 6:16 AM - daniel871: The control board on it is a bit limited compared to the Mega/Ramps combo the Robo uses (one hotend heater, one bed heater, etc.).
Aug 9, 2016 at 6:17 AM - daniel871: But, you shouldn't ever need to mess with the firmware on it unless you're looking for excuses to break it.
Aug 9, 2016 at 6:22 AM - daniel871: Hm. The carriage they came up with has the hotend fan, two cooling fans and the induction sensor.
    Aug 9, 2016 at 6:22 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Aug 9, 2016 at 6:23 AM - daniel871: Places to put up to two more extruder motors if you upgrade to the "diamond head" at a later date.
Aug 9, 2016 at 6:23 AM - daniel871: Looks like an E3D hotend as well.
Aug 9, 2016 at 6:24 AM - daniel871: Or at least an E3D-inspired design, I think the bits after the heat break are different.
Aug 9, 2016 at 6:24 AM - daniel871: There is the usual heatsink/fins above the heat break, but then an integrated threaded bit to thread into the carriage.
    Aug 9, 2016 at 6:26 AM - danzca6: not too bad
Aug 9, 2016 at 6:32 AM - daniel871: Yeah, especially since it will end up being about $600 for the 440mm Z version plus shipping.
Aug 9, 2016 at 6:32 AM - daniel871: (by the time the moon currency conversion was done)

Aug 9, 2016 at 8:05 AM - Geof: Danzca that's a good read! Cool idea lol
    Aug 9, 2016 at 8:06 AM - danzca6: another delta...I like the magnetic ball connectors....https://www.kickstarter.com/project...etal-delta-build-your-own-metal-delta-printer
Aug 9, 2016 at 8:06 AM - danzca6: yeah that blew my mind Geof
Aug 9, 2016 at 8:06 AM - danzca6: leave it to mercedes to come up with that
Aug 9, 2016 at 8:07 AM - Geof: Lol just imagining us mechanics having a much harder job lol
    Aug 9, 2016 at 8:09 AM - danzca6: yeah right...technology doesn't make everyone's life easier
Aug 9, 2016 at 8:35 AM - Geof: Lol no sir it doesn't but hey it's fun
Aug 9, 2016 at 8:38 AM - Geof: Danzca sigma should get here tomorrow ! :D
Aug 9, 2016 at 9:04 AM - danzca6: What!?! I didn't know you were getting a sigma...or I forgot. Oh those are sweet looking printers.
    Aug 9, 2016 at 9:09 AM - Geof: Let's hope so lol
Aug 9, 2016 at 9:09 AM - Geof: Seen them doing some real nice prints with them
Aug 9, 2016 at 9:14 AM - danzca6: Cost a sweet penny as well...can't wait to see some prints
Aug 9, 2016 at 9:18 AM - Geof: Yea it's by far the most expensive I've considered. Dual material that actually works is awesome
Aug 9, 2016 at 9:19 AM - Geof: It will be torn apart after the sample spools and converted to 1.75 filament. I'm not stocking 2 of each of my 60 roll inventory,ol
Aug 9, 2016 at 9:23 AM - danzca6: yeah...3mm is nice for flexible filaments, but really not sure why more printers come with the option. Seems like some parts of the world use 3mm more than others.
Aug 9, 2016 at 9:25 AM - Geof: Meh I think the v6s I'm putting in will handle flexibles fine. Seems like retractions the issue with Bowden but I know many people who converted and are doing fin on other printers :). Worse comes to worse is I fail and it stays 3.0 mm and I wasted a week lol
Aug 9, 2016 at 9:34 AM - danzca6: Geof have you used the newest arduino for compiling firmware for the Robo? I see a note that 1.6.10 has issues and should use 1.6.9
Aug 9, 2016 at 9:35 AM - Geof: No I haven't done any updates. I'm so software dumb that my version works so I don't update lol
Aug 9, 2016 at 9:35 AM - danzca6: I have 1.6.8 installed... I should download the newest and see what it is they are talking about
Aug 9, 2016 at 9:47 AM - Geof: lol to much thinking for me lol. I'm spending the day printing rc parts and getting the printer room ready :)
Aug 9, 2016 at 9:48 AM - Geof: I have enough issues with firmware lol
Aug 9, 2016 at 9:50 AM - danzca6: are you making daniel noree's rc truggy or formula 1 racer?
Aug 9, 2016 at 9:51 AM - Geof: Turtle shell racer on thingiverse. Lol.
    Aug 9, 2016 at 9:51 AM - danzca6: ahh...I've seen that one
Aug 9, 2016 at 9:52 AM - Geof: The lady loves it....and she gets what she wants this month lol. Bought the sigma then on the 27 I pick up 52 more pachinko machines lol
Aug 9, 2016 at 9:56 AM - danzca6: only this month...my lady seems to get what she wants every month...haha
Aug 9, 2016 at 9:56 AM - Geof: Lol don't you know you gotta start out saying "it's all about me" that way she knows ;-) haha lol
Aug 9, 2016 at 9:57 AM - danzca6: yep...there is a compile issue in 1.6.10 with the latest firmware from Robo...so if anyone on the forum asks have them use 1.6.9
Aug 9, 2016 at 9:57 AM - danzca6: maybe I can see how to fix this
    Aug 9, 2016 at 9:59 AM - Geof: The v2.
    Aug 9, 2016 at 9:59 AM - danzca6: yes
    Aug 9, 2016 at 10:00 AM - danzca6: probably 3.0 as well
Aug 9, 2016 at 10:01 AM - Geof: That's interesting. I wonder if it's the filament change option they added. It acts different on my printer than v1
Aug 9, 2016 at 10:02 AM - danzca6: yeah, 3.0 has the same error....I think it must be something arduino is doing
Aug 9, 2016 at 10:02 AM - danzca6: I'll keep looking at it though. RC7 compiles just fine though
    Aug 9, 2016 at 10:03 AM - Geof: Wired
Aug 9, 2016 at 10:28 AM - danzca6: fixed...had to do a global find and replace of fpos_t to filepos_t and it compiles just fine
Aug 9, 2016 at 10:34 AM - Geof: Lol to smart for me buddy
Aug 9, 2016 at 10:37 AM - danzca6: ah...it's pretty easy stuff really. If anyone reports a compile issue on the forum, hopefully this will be a fix for them as well
Aug 9, 2016 at 10:45 AM - Geof: Easy for you lol I have issues with the mouse haha
Aug 9, 2016 at 11:01 AM - Geof: Nothing better than vacation lol. Destiny and
Aug 9, 2016 at 11:02 AM - Geof: Printers makin music lol
    Aug 9, 2016 at 11:05 AM - danzca6: haha
Aug 9, 2016 at 11:06 AM - danzca6: have you ever tried those STLs that make your steppers sing the emperial march and such
Aug 9, 2016 at 11:12 AM - Geof: Not on my printer but on my buddy's 4 head stackerlol
Aug 9, 2016 at 11:18 AM - danzca6: I've been watching that Raise3d that Joel Telling has been demoing...that thing is awesome
Aug 9, 2016 at 11:21 AM - Geof: Looks huge but with issues lol
Aug 9, 2016 at 11:22 AM - danzca6: yeah...he's working them out it looks like
Aug 9, 2016 at 11:23 AM - Geof: Yea I like the update video he gave.
Aug 9, 2016 at 11:23 AM - danzca6: I should start a youtube channel....those guys get all the fun toys
Aug 9, 2016 at 11:23 AM - danzca6: he has another video coming out about it tomorrow
Aug 9, 2016 at 11:27 AM - Geof: He is on it this week lol

Aug 11, 2016 11:43 AM - danzca6: Man I missed these lazy days on a cabin porch swing drinking a cold beverage... Should have brought my printer though
Aug 11, 2016 8:06 PM - Geof: Could always prime another one danzca lol

Aug 12, 2016 at 12:50 AM - danzca6: Hah! Thanks Geof and Jim. Jim got stuck on the rc7 and the IR. Everything works but even with it reporting the z offset correctly it was seeming to still look at the IR being triggered and stop at that height. Well get back to it when I get home.
Aug 12, 2016 at 12:52 AM - danzca6: Man this rain is killing my fishing plans this morning. I guess tomorrow will be a better day for that.

Aug 14, 2016 6:53 AM - Gaurhoth: Got my replacement bed in. Question. What type of glue is recommended for attaching the magnets? I'm assuming CA isn't going to bond to glass very well.
Aug 14, 2016 7:56 AM - Bill Monroe: epoxy. I used JB Weld.
Aug 14, 2016 8:05 AM - Gaurhoth: yea that looks like the best bet. High temp resistance and 5 minute set time to give me time to get it positioned and clamped down
    Aug 14, 2016 8:05 AM - Gaurhoth: thanks.
    Aug 14, 2016 8:58 AM - NFOsec: What's up Roboholics?

    Aug 15, 2016 7:52 AM - danzca6: haha...that's hilarious
Aug 15, 2016 8:03 AM - Geof: Hey Danzca hope vacation was a good one! Welcome back!
Aug 15, 2016 8:04 AM - danzca6: thanks...it was great. Sharing a 17x17 foot cabing with 6 others and a 1yr old for a week makes coming home feel like you live in a mansion. Should have taken today off to recover.
Aug 15, 2016 8:06 AM - danzca6: We stopped at my brother in laws family gun shop on the way home yesterday...that was a lot of fun. They fabricate a lot their. He got me thinking of getting a laser again. He showed me his and it is amazing to watch in action
Aug 15, 2016 8:07 AM - Geof: Lol they are cool.
Aug 15, 2016 8:08 AM - danzca6: he has a military hummer that he got a month ago with full armor. He is working on mounting one of his 50 cals on it. My son loved riding in it
Aug 15, 2016 8:09 AM - danzca6: We didn't have time to go to his gun range to fire any of his collection of arms, but will be going back for sure
    Aug 15, 2016 8:10 AM - danzca6: America!
    Aug 15, 2016 8:10 AM - danzca6: haa
Aug 15, 2016 8:10 AM - danzca6: his next big toy is going to be a tank...can't wait to get a ride in that
Aug 15, 2016 8:14 AM - danzca6: I like your thread you started with pics of your printers....I don't know how you get anything done with such a small supply of filament...you obviously need more...haha
Aug 15, 2016 8:24 AM - Geof: lol that sounds like a blast lol. Funny you should say that I've already reordered some more :D lol. I'm down 6 spools. lol and only one kind of TPU...that just wotnt work.
Aug 15, 2016 8:24 AM - Geof: I thought it would be fun for anyone that wants to share to be able to. Figure someone out there has an awesome set up and I'd like to see it :D
Aug 15, 2016 8:25 AM - danzca6: Mine is an awesome mess...I'll take a pic after I clean it up
Aug 15, 2016 8:25 AM - danzca6: I fell asleep to the sound of it printing last night
Aug 15, 2016 8:26 AM - Gaurhoth: My printer is in pieces on the shelf. heh. Had to order JB Weld online since my dinky local hardware store only had the low temp stuff.
Aug 15, 2016 8:26 AM - Geof: lol I bet you missed it! haha should have taken with. I've got a little micro printer I take with me if I go somewhere lol. home built 4x4x8 build plate. But its once again in pieces because I'm never happy with it lol
Aug 15, 2016 8:27 AM - Gaurhoth: It's driving me nuts since my quadcopter is down (at least for FPV) until I get 3d Printer working again.
Aug 15, 2016 8:27 AM - danzca6: I was looking at the select mini as a portable printer to take with me next time
Aug 15, 2016 8:28 AM - Gaurhoth: I need to find a way to convince my wife I *need* a second printer
Aug 15, 2016 8:28 AM - danzca6: keep buying "replacement" parts for the Robo Gaurhoth and you will have enough to build another one
Aug 15, 2016 8:28 AM - Gaurhoth: there is that.
    Aug 15, 2016 8:28 AM - danzca6: she won't even know...haha
Aug 15, 2016 8:29 AM - Geof: lol just dont tell her until after it shows up..thats what I did :D 3 times lol. Spare parts=printer 2x haha.
Aug 15, 2016 8:29 AM - Gaurhoth: Yea, my work area has seen a rather large influx of equipment over the last 2 months -- I keep expecting her to realize it and say something.
    Aug 15, 2016 8:29 AM - Gaurhoth: so far...nope.... sssssshhhhhhhh
    Aug 15, 2016 8:29 AM - danzca6: hobbies have a way of doing that
Aug 15, 2016 8:30 AM - Gaurhoth: I damn near picked up an oscilliscope yesterday from Microcenter. They had one of the rigol ds1052e for $250.
Aug 15, 2016 8:30 AM - Gaurhoth: But I can't for the life of me figure out 'why' I need an oscilliscope nor can i figure out how to hide it.
Aug 15, 2016 8:30 AM - Geof: You dont have to need a tool when you buy it:D just know that you have it if you need it haha.
Aug 15, 2016 8:30 AM - danzca6: coming back from car shows/swap meets my dad always had me go into the house to distract my mom while he drove back to the workshop to stash his latest purchases
    Aug 15, 2016 8:31 AM - Gaurhoth: lol
Aug 15, 2016 8:31 AM - Geof: alright gents I got to get back to work good chatting!
    Aug 15, 2016 8:31 AM - danzca6: take care Geof
Aug 15, 2016 8:31 AM - Gaurhoth: Maybe I can convince her I need an Oscope to troubleshoot the printer.
Aug 15, 2016 8:32 AM - danzca6: My wife and I have our own slush fund that we pay into each pay period. That way we save for what we want and no hard feelings if one of us buys some new toys
    Aug 15, 2016 8:33 AM - Gaurhoth: I tried that once.
Aug 15, 2016 8:33 AM - Gaurhoth: My wife spent my slush fund :)
Aug 15, 2016 8:34 AM - danzca6: if you want the money for the oscope to come out of the general fund, you need to convince her it is needed for some household use and not your hobby
Aug 15, 2016 8:34 AM - danzca6: well that is why you need your own account to put it into that just you have access to
Aug 15, 2016 8:34 AM - Gaurhoth: honestly she doesn't give me much grief about what I buy -- but sometimes I look back at how much I spend and I beat myself up :D
    Aug 15, 2016 8:34 AM - danzca6: agreed...I do the same thing
Aug 15, 2016 8:35 AM - Gaurhoth: I looked at my list of orders from a local RC hobby shop lately and a part of my soul died inside.
    Aug 15, 2016 8:35 AM - Gaurhoth: lol
    Aug 15, 2016 8:35 AM - danzca6: haha...next day purchase hangover is the worst...what have done?
    Aug 15, 2016 8:36 AM - danzca6: it's all fun though
Aug 15, 2016 8:36 AM - danzca6: whatever I buy that I end up not using my son snags it for a project
Aug 15, 2016 8:36 AM - Gaurhoth: I keep reminder her that 1) I don't cheat on her 2) I pay the bills (usually) 3) I could have REALLY expensive hobbies like classic cars, boats, or full size airplanes.
Aug 15, 2016 8:38 AM - danzca6: I'm sure she sleeps bettter at night having you say that to her as well :)
    Aug 15, 2016 8:39 AM - Gaurhoth: lol.
Aug 15, 2016 8:39 AM - danzca6: my wife and I both have our own hobbies and a lot of them we share. The ones we share are probably the most fun.
Aug 15, 2016 8:41 AM - Gaurhoth: Yea, my wife is dabbling in RC quads/airplanes. She enjoys it but gets easily frustrated because she feels like anything she picks up she should be able
Aug 15, 2016 8:41 AM - Gaurhoth: to do well immediately --- and many times she can - but RC quads is taking her some learning :)
Aug 15, 2016 8:41 AM - Gaurhoth: and she gets made when something breaks.
    Aug 15, 2016 8:41 AM - Gaurhoth: I got over that fast :)
Aug 15, 2016 8:42 AM - Gaurhoth: Buy two of everything so you can break one freely
Aug 15, 2016 8:42 AM - Gaurhoth: RC stuff is primary reason I dug into 3d printing. Too many one off scenarios that you can't 'buy' a part for
Aug 15, 2016 8:43 AM - danzca6: that is true...3d printing opens a whole new world to not only repairs but custom work
Aug 15, 2016 8:44 AM - Gaurhoth: although my 3d modeling skills are still pretty primitive. But improving
    Aug 15, 2016 8:45 AM - teknoprep: hi all
    Aug 15, 2016 8:46 AM - Gaurhoth: Howdy.
Aug 15, 2016 8:46 AM - teknoprep: i purchased simplify3d.. it has an issue with starting prints too high
Aug 15, 2016 8:46 AM - teknoprep: would anyone know what to do to potentially fix this
Aug 15, 2016 8:47 AM - Gaurhoth: Gcode tab of the Process Settings. Look for Global G-Code Offsets. You'll want to change the Z-Axis
    Aug 15, 2016 8:47 AM - teknoprep: gotcha
Aug 15, 2016 8:48 AM - Gaurhoth: start with very small increments. You don't want the nozzle grinding into glass bed
Aug 15, 2016 8:49 AM - teknoprep: my question is i have the same gcode startup as MatterControl
Aug 15, 2016 8:49 AM - Geof: Its under start up scripts. M565z-1.0
Aug 15, 2016 8:50 AM - teknoprep: same probe ... etc... why would the gcode be different ?
    Aug 15, 2016 8:50 AM - teknoprep: for the startup ?
Aug 15, 2016 8:50 AM - Geof: Youll need to go small by making that z-1.0 a smaller number in simplify 3d
Aug 15, 2016 8:51 AM - teknoprep: so just add gcode startup script --- m565z-1.0
    Aug 15, 2016 8:51 AM - teknoprep: if that doesn't work.. do something like --- M565z-1.2 ?
Aug 15, 2016 8:51 AM - Geof: Are you to close or to far away from the bed with stock settings?
Aug 15, 2016 8:52 AM - teknoprep: too far away
Aug 15, 2016 8:52 AM - teknoprep: the example i see looks more like this
    Aug 15, 2016 8:52 AM - teknoprep: M565 X3 Y4.5 Z-2.37
Aug 15, 2016 8:52 AM - Geof: In your start up script ? Which printer do you have
    Aug 15, 2016 8:53 AM - teknoprep: robo3d r1+
    Aug 15, 2016 8:54 AM - danzca6: your M565 call shouldn't need the X and Y called out. Just the Z
    Aug 15, 2016 8:54 AM - teknoprep: gotcha
Aug 15, 2016 8:54 AM - teknoprep: so i can do M565 Z-1.0 and keep going from there until i like the print
    Aug 15, 2016 8:54 AM - danzca6: -2 for z offset is way too much
Aug 15, 2016 8:55 AM - danzca6: yeah start there and then let's see where you are at
Aug 15, 2016 8:56 AM - danzca6: and that call is done after you do the G28 to home all axis and the G29 to run the ABL routine
    Aug 15, 2016 8:57 AM - teknoprep: i understand
    Aug 15, 2016 8:57 AM - teknoprep: thanks
Aug 15, 2016 8:58 AM - danzca6: also, have you done any firmware updates?
    Aug 15, 2016 8:58 AM - teknoprep: yes
Aug 15, 2016 8:58 AM - danzca6: ok, which one are you using
    Aug 15, 2016 8:58 AM - teknoprep: i am on the latest for r1+
    Aug 15, 2016 8:58 AM - teknoprep: just checked
    Aug 15, 2016 8:59 AM - danzca6: the V2
    Aug 15, 2016 8:59 AM - teknoprep: yeah

Aug 15, 2016 9:14 AM - teknoprep: does anyone here like octoprint.. i have been using it for awhlie... does anyone think it causes issues ?
Aug 15, 2016 9:14 AM - teknoprep: i export gcode directly to it
Aug 15, 2016 9:14 AM - danzca6: nope, but it is only .2 kg per spool for $5...that is still $25 for a full spool of a normal brand
Aug 15, 2016 9:15 AM - teknoprep: yeah i see that now... lol that sucks
Aug 15, 2016 9:15 AM - danzca6: I played with octoprint but haven't made it a routine to use it while printing
Aug 15, 2016 9:16 AM - Gaurhoth: I use simplify3d with Octoprint in my normal workflow all the time.
Aug 15, 2016 9:16 AM - Gaurhoth: I added an additional terminal commands for post processing to save it out (using curl and the octoprint api) to octoprint and then just push print from there.
Aug 15, 2016 9:17 AM - teknoprep: nice.. i ended up builidng a 7 inch touch screen raspberry pi and then 3d printed a case
Aug 15, 2016 9:17 AM - Gaurhoth: All my print failures seems to be due to the simplify3d learning curve and a warped bed, so I don't think octoprint is introducing any failures...but I'm still learning
Aug 15, 2016 9:17 AM - teknoprep: it runs ubuntu mate with octoprint repo
Aug 15, 2016 9:18 AM - teknoprep: why is your bed warped ?
Aug 15, 2016 9:18 AM - Gaurhoth: Yea, I have octoprint on a RPI. I have the 7" TS next to it as well, but I don't usually use it. I just print from web interface at my desktop
Aug 15, 2016 9:18 AM - Gaurhoth: but I like having the touchscreen next to it incase I need to do any manual controls
Aug 15, 2016 9:19 AM - Gaurhoth: teknoprep, no idea. Robo3D sent me another one after I sent them a picture of a straight edge laying across the original bed and there was a ~0.6mm gap in the bottom right side of the bed
Aug 15, 2016 9:19 AM - Gaurhoth: so the height of the bed at top left was ~0.6mm different than bottom right.
Aug 15, 2016 9:19 AM - Gaurhoth: I'm waiting on some JB Weld to be shipped by amazon so I can affix the magnets to the new bed and get back going.
    Aug 15, 2016 9:20 AM - teknoprep: i justed used gorilla glue
    Aug 15, 2016 9:20 AM - teknoprep: worked great
Aug 15, 2016 9:20 AM - Gaurhoth: I kept fighting with the z level offset and couldn't figure out why it never seemed to work from print to print without tweaking
Aug 15, 2016 9:21 AM - Gaurhoth: turned out it all depended on where the print sat on the bed and how large it was
Aug 15, 2016 9:25 AM - teknoprep: using the gcode startup script from matter control fixed my height starting issue with S3D
Aug 15, 2016 9:26 AM - teknoprep: took out the temp settings only from the gcode of MC when copying to S3D
Aug 15, 2016 9:26 AM - teknoprep: everything else helped alot
    Aug 15, 2016 9:27 AM - danzca6: Awesome...glad that worked for you
Aug 15, 2016 9:33 AM - teknoprep: i'll say this... S3D takes way different paths than MC
    Aug 15, 2016 9:48 AM - danzca6: in a good way i am sure
Aug 15, 2016 10:03 AM - teknoprep: it seems it
Aug 15, 2016 10:03 AM - teknoprep: hopefully its a stronger product when finished
Aug 15, 2016 10:03 AM - teknoprep: i have noticed that straight lines for solid surfaces just don't hold up
Aug 15, 2016 10:14 AM - Gaurhoth: Is there a special trick to upgrading R1+ to V2 firmware? I downloaded the hex, connected printer to matter control, clicked Change and it says it's backing up the firmware and then promptly disconnects from the printer.
Aug 15, 2016 10:26 AM - teknoprep: i used arduino software to upgrade it
Aug 15, 2016 10:26 AM - teknoprep: was much easier
    Aug 15, 2016 10:26 AM - teknoprep: https://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/Software
Aug 15, 2016 10:26 AM - teknoprep: then you don't use the hex file but the other file
Aug 15, 2016 10:26 AM - Gaurhoth: okay. I was trying to be lazy
Aug 15, 2016 10:49 AM - danzca6: yeah, I don't like using MC for firmware updates. Having the arduino files are better in the long run. You can then make updates to settings in the firmware if needed and reload. Can't do that with the HEX. If you get a compile error let me know. There is a workaround that I mentioned in the comments of the firmware download page.
Aug 15, 2016 10:55 AM - Gaurhoth: It compiles/verifies. Sketch uses 117,782 bytes (46%) of program storage space. Maximum is 253,952 bytes.
Aug 15, 2016 10:55 AM - Gaurhoth: let's see if it uploads... crosses fingers
Aug 15, 2016 10:59 AM - danzca6: open a terminal window in MC and send M502 followed by M500 once it uploads correctly
Aug 15, 2016 11:01 AM - Gaurhoth: okay. google fu says that just restores any stored variables to factory default?
Aug 15, 2016 11:02 AM - Gaurhoth: Well, it uploaded, commands issued. terminal is spitting out temps as expected and MC shows me at V2. I guess that was successful :)
Aug 15, 2016 11:06 AM - danzca6: yeah with eeprom writting enabled, this resets all the stored eeprom values to what is now in the firmware. I have had it still hold old values after uploading new firmware and drove me nuts. Then I was told to do those commands and I now do it all the time after updating the firmware. Better then a bruise on my head wondering why things aren't working like they should. :)
Aug 15, 2016 11:08 AM - danzca6: so now when you get around to calibrate your extruder or do PID tuning, you can set those values in the firmware files and reupload everything.
    Aug 15, 2016 11:08 AM - Gaurhoth: got it
Aug 15, 2016 12:28 PM - teknoprep: are there any new nozzles / extruders for the R1+ that do multiple filaments ?
Aug 15, 2016 12:31 PM - danzca6: are you looking at printing multiple types or just multi color?
    Aug 15, 2016 12:32 PM - teknoprep: multi-color same type
Aug 15, 2016 12:33 PM - danzca6: are you wanting to mix multiple colors for a single layer or something like the first x layers black and the remaining white?
Aug 15, 2016 12:33 PM - danzca6: just asking because you could do a pause and change filament and resume to get multiple colors on a layer by layer basis
    Aug 15, 2016 12:34 PM - teknoprep: multi-color no change
Aug 15, 2016 12:34 PM - danzca6: otherwise, there are projects out there on this forum for going dual extruder with a bowden setup
    Aug 15, 2016 12:36 PM - teknoprep: ok
Aug 15, 2016 12:36 PM - teknoprep: i was thinking of using this printer to print a larger printer
Aug 15, 2016 12:36 PM - danzca6: the one thing you will run into having the plus is the need to get an expansion for another stepper driver since robo changed the ramps in the plus to use to independent drivers for the z axis instead of just one
    Aug 15, 2016 12:39 PM - danzca6: outside of electronics, yeah a printer can replicate :)
Aug 15, 2016 12:41 PM - teknoprep: with S3D... the full honeycomb fill... does that increase strength ?
    Aug 15, 2016 12:44 PM - danzca6: Possible...I don't have S3D :(
Aug 15, 2016 2:45 PM - Geof: Danzca send me a pm when you have a minute
Aug 15, 2016 4:10 PM - Bill Monroe: good afternoon
    Aug 15, 2016 4:39 PM - Gaurhoth: Howdy Bill
    Aug 15, 2016 5:49 PM - Bill Monroe: Guar
Aug 15, 2016 6:02 PM - danzca6: Hello Bill ... aka Mr CNC ... haha how are you doing?
Aug 15, 2016 6:08 PM - danzca6: Bill I went looking for your youtube channel the other day to see if you posted any more videos of your Tormach and all I got was pages of legendary country singer Bill Monroe...any relation? :)
Aug 15, 2016 6:19 PM - Bill Monroe: none that I'm aware of.. I did meet him once though
Aug 15, 2016 6:20 PM - danzca6: I may have to play some of his songs to see if any of them ring familiar
    Aug 15, 2016 6:20 PM - Bill Monroe: it's all hard-core bluegrass
Aug 15, 2016 6:22 PM - danzca6: ah, when the mood hits, I don't mind listening to that too much
Aug 15, 2016 6:24 PM - Bill Monroe: mmm 2.0 and Desiree are making taquitos from scratch :)
    Aug 15, 2016 6:25 PM - danzca6: ooooh man
    Aug 15, 2016 6:25 PM - danzca6: you'll be eating good tonight
Aug 15, 2016 6:25 PM - Bill Monroe: ya. i dont deserve these two
    Aug 15, 2016 6:25 PM - danzca6: Is that her sister?
Aug 15, 2016 6:26 PM - Bill Monroe: add Donel in there and it's like a Carl's Junior commercial
    Aug 15, 2016 6:26 PM - danzca6: ha!
Aug 15, 2016 6:26 PM - Bill Monroe: no donel is the sis.. Desiree is my mon's fiancee
    Aug 15, 2016 6:26 PM - Bill Monroe: son's
    Aug 15, 2016 6:26 PM - danzca6: oh ok..the painter
Aug 15, 2016 6:27 PM - danzca6: well the one that painted your room for you awhile back
Aug 15, 2016 6:27 PM - Bill Monroe: ya. art in general
Aug 15, 2016 6:27 PM - Bill Monroe: heheh ya, she did that oo
    Aug 15, 2016 6:27 PM - Bill Monroe: too
Aug 15, 2016 6:28 PM - danzca6: do you know of any good models for a parts fan to go with the E3D V6?
Aug 15, 2016 6:28 PM - Bill Monroe: man, it's been over a year since I made those
Aug 15, 2016 6:29 PM - danzca6: user here needed a custom quick release plate and parts fan mount, but the ones he sent me from thingiverse aren't that great
Aug 15, 2016 6:30 PM - Bill Monroe: went to see the newest star trek movie in palm springs on saturday
    Aug 15, 2016 6:31 PM - danzca6: how was it?
Aug 15, 2016 6:31 PM - danzca6: I lost track that it was coming out
Aug 15, 2016 6:31 PM - Bill Monroe: not bad but could have been much better
Aug 15, 2016 6:31 PM - Bill Monroe: i think it came out a month ago
Aug 15, 2016 6:32 PM - Bill Monroe: but speaking of coming out...
    Aug 15, 2016 6:32 PM - danzca6: yeah...that's been my summer....going in high gear
    Aug 15, 2016 6:32 PM - danzca6: oh no...
Aug 15, 2016 6:32 PM - Bill Monroe: the theater was festtoned and infected with gay couples
    Aug 15, 2016 6:32 PM - danzca6: Bill...haha
    Aug 15, 2016 6:32 PM - Bill Monroe: seriously
Aug 15, 2016 6:33 PM - Bill Monroe: palm springs makes san fransisco look like a logger camp
Aug 15, 2016 6:33 PM - Bill Monroe: 2.0 was the only female there!
    Aug 15, 2016 6:33 PM - Bill Monroe: but
Aug 15, 2016 6:34 PM - Bill Monroe: it was 120 and she wore her wife-beater and too-short short shorts so... no worries
Aug 15, 2016 6:34 PM - danzca6: well...that would be the ultimate test with that outfit on

Aug 15, 2016 6:35 PM - Bill Monroe: gads... i was almost embarassed
Aug 15, 2016 6:35 PM - Bill Monroe: not much left to the imagination :)
    Aug 15, 2016 6:39 PM - danzca6: I bet haha
Aug 15, 2016 6:39 PM - danzca6: Hey are you still working full time?
Aug 15, 2016 6:39 PM - Bill Monroe: ya.. but I took today off to take my plane to the avionics shop
Aug 15, 2016 6:40 PM - Bill Monroe: i've go an interview lined up for a btter company
    Aug 15, 2016 6:40 PM - Bill Monroe: better
Aug 15, 2016 6:43 PM - danzca6: really.? I thought you were going to retire this Fall...of course if you are able to grab some more play money for the shop...then heck yeah go for it
    Aug 15, 2016 6:45 PM - Bill Monroe: it's still an option...
Aug 15, 2016 6:45 PM - Bill Monroe: the new place is enticing for me... semi-startup, making prototypes
    Aug 15, 2016 6:47 PM - danzca6: sounds like an interesting adventure
Aug 15, 2016 6:58 PM - Bill Monroe: dinner time!

Aug 16, 2016 6:20 AM - danzca6: oh for the love of pete...that is insane...but kinda funny at the same time
Aug 16, 2016 6:48 AM - danzca6: Does anyone else look at the members list of new accounts and sometimes wonder if they just hit their head on the keyboard to make a username?
Aug 16, 2016 6:50 AM - danzca6: If anyone hasn't subscribed to @ChaosCoreTech on YouTube yet you should. The guy is a Robo user and his wife and him are a great team. His modeling is impressive and her artistic painting skills are off the chart. Always enjoy his videos and he is a rising youtube star for 3d modeling.
Aug 16, 2016 10:45 AM - Geof: I agree! His channel is fun to watch and lots of great getting started modeling videos with Fusion 360
Aug 16, 2016 11:06 AM - danzca6: Yes, I hope he continues with the how to videos for 360. I learned a lot of tricks by watching his videos that I was doing the hard way.
Aug 16, 2016 12:37 PM - teknoprep: i'll say this... S3D is way better than matter control
Aug 16, 2016 12:38 PM - teknoprep: once you get S3D setup... its prints are WAY stronger and much better print quality
Aug 16, 2016 12:43 PM - danzca6: Good to hear...I know Cura was a nice free change for me. So I can only imagine it must have been an even farther leap to go with S3D
Aug 16, 2016 12:44 PM - teknoprep: i didn't like cura that much to be honest
Aug 16, 2016 12:44 PM - teknoprep: i am a big open source fan but it had alot of print issues for my stuff
Aug 16, 2016 12:50 PM - danzca6: I have it dialed in pretty well for what I print. It did take a bit of setup though.
Aug 16, 2016 12:54 PM - danzca6: how did the honeycomb infill work for you?
    Aug 16, 2016 12:55 PM - teknoprep: amazing btw
Aug 16, 2016 12:56 PM - teknoprep: honeycomb @ 20% infill is still crazy strong
Aug 16, 2016 12:57 PM - danzca6: I think cura introduced that in their beta that is out. I may have to check that out.
    Aug 16, 2016 12:57 PM - teknoprep: is slic3r any good
Aug 16, 2016 12:59 PM - danzca6: you know i haven't tried it. My dad has used it with his printrbot but I haven't heard a lot from him about it
Aug 16, 2016 12:59 PM - danzca6: You have the creame of the crop now with S3D...so no need to go backwards :)
Aug 16, 2016 1:00 PM - teknoprep: i dunno know if its really backwards though
Aug 16, 2016 1:00 PM - teknoprep: have you seen the 3d honeycomb stuff with slic3r
Aug 16, 2016 1:00 PM - teknoprep: thats really nice
    Aug 16, 2016 1:00 PM - danzca6: no I haven't
    Aug 16, 2016 1:01 PM - danzca6: Hey, if anyone wants a Stratasys...only $1000/obo http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/hvo/5735654245.html
Aug 16, 2016 1:08 PM - Geof: go to infill and drop down to full honeycomb or fast honeycomb :D S3D has it too :D
    Aug 16, 2016 1:09 PM - teknoprep: i don't think thats 3d honeycomb
    Aug 16, 2016 1:10 PM - teknoprep: [IMG]
    Aug 16, 2016 1:10 PM - teknoprep: thats 3d honeycomb
Aug 16, 2016 1:11 PM - teknoprep: honeycomb fast / full i believe is only 2D ... so only 1 side is increased strength while 3d honeycomb allows for all sides to increase in strength from fill
Aug 16, 2016 1:45 PM - Ryan TeGantvoort: thats pretty badass. I can see S3D adding it or something similar soon.
Aug 16, 2016 1:53 PM - krouton3: well this sucks... my x axis belt broke...
Aug 16, 2016 1:53 PM - krouton3: well not the belt thing itself but the plasitc part that was holding it in place
    Aug 16, 2016 1:54 PM - krouton3: just as i was getting ready to do a print... -.-
Aug 16, 2016 1:56 PM - Ryan TeGantvoort: Already being talked about on S3D: https://forum.simplify3d.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=5037
Aug 16, 2016 1:56 PM - Ryan TeGantvoort: It would appear that this infill actually makes a part weaker compared to the already in place infills

Aug 16, 2016 2:14 PM - Ryan TeGantvoort: you can try to glue it back together to print a new one?
Aug 16, 2016 2:22 PM - krouton3: i havent used this printer in moths so im not really sure how it happend
Aug 16, 2016 2:27 PM - Ryan TeGantvoort: could have been too tight and eventually broke one day
Aug 16, 2016 2:27 PM - Ryan TeGantvoort: here is a the thing if you can try to print it.
    Aug 16, 2016 2:28 PM - Ryan TeGantvoort: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:396823
    Aug 16, 2016 2:28 PM - Ryan TeGantvoort: or this one: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1269194
Aug 16, 2016 2:33 PM - krouton3: ill try to solder the piece that broke for a temporary fix and 3d prind me one of those if i can
Aug 16, 2016 2:37 PM - teknoprep: Ryan this infill does not make things weaker... that guy didn't know what he was talking about
Aug 16, 2016 2:37 PM - teknoprep: does anyone know of a direct drive replacement extruder that i can print for the r1+ ?
Aug 16, 2016 2:37 PM - teknoprep: want to work better with flexible filament
Aug 16, 2016 2:41 PM - Ryan TeGantvoort: quick search and found this: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:519320
    Aug 16, 2016 2:42 PM - teknoprep: i saw that one.. will it work with r1+ ?
Aug 16, 2016 2:42 PM - danzca6: teknoprep...you need a new belt clip printed or do you have a second printer?
Aug 16, 2016 2:43 PM - danzca6: if you need it, let me know and I will put one in the mail tomorrow
Aug 16, 2016 2:43 PM - Ryan TeGantvoort: its actually krouton3 that needs it
Aug 16, 2016 2:43 PM - danzca6: maybe 2...I hate those things...been thinking of forging one out of aluminum
    Aug 16, 2016 2:44 PM - danzca6: oh yeah...thank...offer still good krouton3
    Aug 16, 2016 2:46 PM - danzca6: I PM'd you...just send me your address if you need some
Aug 16, 2016 2:47 PM - krouton3: i just finished soldering the piece back together so ill see if it holds up long enough for me to pring another one
    Aug 16, 2016 2:47 PM - danzca6: sounds good
    Aug 16, 2016 2:47 PM - danzca6: well...time to go work on some garage doors...take care gentlemen
    Aug 16, 2016 2:58 PM - krouton3: well time to wait 15min
    Aug 16, 2016 3:00 PM - Ryan TeGantvoort: [IMG]
Aug 16, 2016 3:06 PM - krouton3: about half way done so far holding up
Aug 16, 2016 3:07 PM - krouton3: surprised how well the soldering is holding up lol
Aug 16, 2016 3:11 PM - krouton3: ill make sure to print off a few of these for backup later on lol
Aug 16, 2016 3:37 PM - danzca6: Good to have spares for a lot of the plastic parts
Aug 16, 2016 4:47 PM - Gaurhoth: new bed epoxied to the magnets. Waiting on it to finish curing. I'm painfully impatient
    Aug 16, 2016 5:08 PM - danzca6: Sounds like it's time to enjoy a couple cold ones
Aug 16, 2016 5:13 PM - Gaurhoth: way ahead of you on that one
Aug 16, 2016 5:13 PM - Gaurhoth: actually current drink isn't cold, but general principle remains.
Aug 16, 2016 5:13 PM - Gaurhoth: Jamison Caskmates neat.
Aug 16, 2016 5:14 PM - krouton3: ok got the printed replacement part installed now... that support material is always a pain to remove
Aug 16, 2016 5:47 PM - danzca6: Great to hear that worked for you krouton3
Aug 16, 2016 5:48 PM - danzca6: Gaurhoth... That is my kind of drink... Now I have to check if I have any left. Sounds good tonight
Aug 16, 2016 6:22 PM - Gaurhoth: Okay that's encouraging. Bed all hooked back up and MC shows a bed temperature... now can I heat it :)
Aug 16, 2016 6:23 PM - Gaurhoth: hah, that works too. (I'm a small victories kinda guy :)
    Aug 16, 2016 6:27 PM - danzca6: That's awesome! Now it's time to lay some plastic
Aug 16, 2016 6:29 PM - Gaurhoth: yea not yet, can't get Z axis to go down
Aug 16, 2016 6:31 PM - danzca6: What's happening? You can't make it go down using software controls or is it the z offset after the ABL routine
Aug 16, 2016 6:32 PM - Gaurhoth: the software controls in MC... can't make it go down. If I do Z+, it'll go up
Aug 16, 2016 6:32 PM - Gaurhoth: and I can twist the rods easily to make it go down
Aug 16, 2016 6:33 PM - Geof: Home all amd try again. Sounds like it thinks its at 0
    Aug 16, 2016 6:33 PM - danzca6: So your endstops
    Aug 16, 2016 6:33 PM - danzca6: Make sure they are seated
Aug 16, 2016 6:33 PM - Gaurhoth: Yea, checked the endstops. Homing ALL seems to be knocking it out
Aug 16, 2016 6:34 PM - Gaurhoth: I had tried to home Z but that was being ignored
    Aug 16, 2016 6:34 PM - danzca6: Oh, so home all worked?
    Aug 16, 2016 6:34 PM - danzca6: Can you control z fine now
Aug 16, 2016 6:35 PM - Gaurhoth: yea after homing ALL, I can control Z now.
Aug 16, 2016 6:35 PM - Gaurhoth: User error I guess. Homing Z wasn't enough. Had to Home All
    Aug 16, 2016 6:35 PM - danzca6: <HI5> to Geof
Aug 16, 2016 6:36 PM - Gaurhoth: Now I just need to go through and paper level everything. No telling how wonky my magnets are... altho I did use clamps to get it flat as possible. WE'll see.
Aug 16, 2016 6:38 PM - danzca6: Yeah it is open to having some variances gluing them down... Paper punch and paper hopefully will correct that for you
    Aug 16, 2016 7:56 PM - danzca6: Would you pay $1000 for a printrbot simple v2? https://printrbot.com/shop/simple-v2/
Aug 16, 2016 7:56 PM - danzca6: For that price point, there is a lot of great competition
Aug 16, 2016 8:01 PM - Bill Monroe: there's no such thing as a "price point"
Aug 16, 2016 8:14 PM - danzca6: You don't think so? Maybe I'm using the wrong phrase then. If you have $1000 to spend on a 3d printer, would you buy the printrbot over a Robo R1 Plus, BigBox, Prusa i3 V2, and so on?

Aug 16, 2016 at 10:59 PM - NFOsec: danz: save your money and get an UM2 since R2 or R3 don't seem to be in immediate sight.
Aug 17, 2016 at 3:53 AM - danzca6: Is build a UM2 before buying one. Can do that for under $1k
Aug 17, 2016 at 5:23 AM - Bill Monroe: no, I dont think so.. Price Point is just an expression people use to try and sound intelligent - but the effect is quite the opposite. $1000 is the price.. period. there's no price "point" it's just the price.
Aug 17, 2016 at 5:33 AM - Bill Monroe: as far as what printer to buy.. depends on what your end use is.. if it's to make prototype parts for R&D or demos, 1K isnt enough to get a decent printer for those purposes.. if it's to make silly toy dragons, yodas, or what-have-you, Save your money and find a constructive endevour to spend your time on. go outside, talk a walk, remind yourself what it's like to feel the sun on your face.
Aug 17, 2016 at 5:41 AM - danzca6: Ah, so price point is one of those annoying buzz phrases that people use to you. I feel you there. I often get tired of people that use buzz words just to use them. I guess I didn't realize that is what I was doing with that phrase. So I get you point.
Aug 17, 2016 at 5:41 AM - Bill Monroe: buzzwords :) i was searching for that
Aug 17, 2016 at 5:42 AM - danzca6: haha...ironic that it too can be defined as a buzzword at times right
