Aug 26, 2016 9:19 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Hey you guys'
    Aug 26, 2016 9:40 PM - danzca6: man...just had a flashback to the Goonies
    Aug 26, 2016 9:41 PM - danzca6: What? I missed MK...it's a rare sighting these days
    Aug 27, 2016 3:52 AM - Toro1966: Anyone up yet this morning?
Aug 27, 2016 5:04 AM - danzca6: Just running the sand out of my eyes now
Aug 27, 2016 5:12 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
    Aug 27, 2016 5:30 AM - danzca6: Morning Bill
Aug 27, 2016 5:32 AM - Bill Monroe: Hey Dan, howzit?
    Aug 27, 2016 5:32 AM - danzca6: Rough night
    Aug 27, 2016 5:32 AM - Bill Monroe: I'm sorry.
Aug 27, 2016 5:33 AM - danzca6: Oh it's alright just slow in the go this morning
Aug 27, 2016 5:33 AM - danzca6: What you working on this morning
Aug 27, 2016 5:33 AM - Bill Monroe: I get that way sometimes... riding the bike at dawn helps set things straight
Aug 27, 2016 5:34 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm getting a test part together to learn the best settings/tooling for engraving, then I'm going to adjust and calibrate the machine
    Aug 27, 2016 5:34 AM - danzca6: Wouldn't trust myself on a bike right now
    Aug 27, 2016 5:35 AM - danzca6: Just using a v bit for that
Aug 27, 2016 5:35 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, got some.. but the pros at work use a .020" ball-end mill set at .002 deep
Aug 27, 2016 5:36 AM - Bill Monroe: they say the v bits break routinely
    Aug 27, 2016 5:37 AM - danzca6: Oh nice
Aug 27, 2016 5:37 AM - Bill Monroe: v bits are also difficult to control the stroke since .001 change makes a perceptible difference in stroke width
Aug 27, 2016 5:37 AM - Bill Monroe: but they come in handy when doing 3D fillagree stuff....
    Aug 27, 2016 5:38 AM - danzca6: I see guys using the v all the time. Didn't think about a ball end
Aug 27, 2016 5:39 AM - Bill Monroe: in metal?
    Aug 27, 2016 5:40 AM - danzca6: For engraving yeah
Aug 27, 2016 5:40 AM - Bill Monroe: i use the v bits on my router for doing bicolor plastic name plates..
    Aug 27, 2016 5:41 AM - danzca6: That's another great use
Aug 27, 2016 5:42 AM - danzca6: We moved offices and everyone wanted nameplates so I 3d printed them some. Came out nice
Aug 27, 2016 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: my mom owned a trophy shop for over 30 years... she had a New Hermes pantograph with a motorised cutter for doing plates...
Aug 27, 2016 5:43 AM - Bill Monroe: when I first leaned about steppers (decades ago) I made a controlled machine to do it... but software just wasnt there.. I had to write the code by hand
Aug 27, 2016 5:43 AM - Bill Monroe: she was not impressed :)
    Aug 27, 2016 5:43 AM - danzca6: What?
    Aug 27, 2016 5:44 AM - danzca6: Tough mom...
    Aug 27, 2016 5:44 AM - danzca6: Haha
Aug 27, 2016 5:44 AM - Bill Monroe: heh. she was a delight
Aug 27, 2016 5:45 AM - danzca6: Not the same quality at first? Or did it just take one of her jobs away
Aug 27, 2016 5:45 AM - Bill Monroe: neither.. it took too long to set it up due to the time it took to write the toolpath program
Aug 27, 2016 5:45 AM - Bill Monroe: it was just before it's time
Aug 27, 2016 5:50 AM - danzca6: ah...yeah I can see that if you can't just drag and drop and press go it could cost her money
Aug 27, 2016 5:51 AM - Bill Monroe: She was an early adopter of the "every kid in the little league gets a trophy" mindset and had very inexpensive ones that leagues could afford to buy
Aug 27, 2016 5:51 AM - Bill Monroe: but they all had to have the kid's name on it.. lots of engraving
Aug 27, 2016 5:52 AM - danzca6: haha...so the trophy shops started that...makes sense...like hallmark and all the card holidays
Aug 27, 2016 5:52 AM - Bill Monroe: i dunno.. she offered it.. the team moms ate it up
    Aug 27, 2016 5:53 AM - danzca6: I bet they would...who doesn't want to see their kid come home with a trophy
Aug 27, 2016 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe: they were actually pretty nice and very inexpensive.. marble bases... polished acrylic risers.. both made from cut-offs that were normally discarded
Aug 27, 2016 5:54 AM - Bill Monroe: she used to send me to a plastics place that made wine racks to pick up their cutoffs, which they gave her for free
Aug 27, 2016 5:55 AM - Bill Monroe: same with a building construction contractor that used sheets of marble for exteriors
    Aug 27, 2016 5:55 AM - danzca6: nice partnership
Aug 27, 2016 5:56 AM - Bill Monroe: but... I had to cut and polish all that stuff so, I didnt really think they were all that nice at the time :)
Aug 27, 2016 5:56 AM - danzca6: you were the cheap labor...the Chinese substitute of the day...have your kids do the labor ;)
Aug 27, 2016 5:57 AM - Bill Monroe: heh, ya pretty much
    Aug 27, 2016 6:00 AM - danzca6: man...humidity is 56% in my office....might need to get the humidifier going
Aug 27, 2016 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: you want more?
    Aug 27, 2016 6:01 AM - danzca6: haha...my DEhumidifier
Aug 27, 2016 6:01 AM - danzca6: fingers and brain are still working on their communication skills this morning
    Aug 27, 2016 6:02 AM - Bill Monroe: ah :)
    Aug 27, 2016 6:02 AM - Bill Monroe: it's 9% here right now
Aug 27, 2016 6:02 AM - danzca6: it rained pretty good overnight...so we are pretty wet still
Aug 27, 2016 6:03 AM - Bill Monroe: we could use some rain
Aug 27, 2016 6:04 AM - danzca6: I was supposed to mow the grass field that has become my lawn yesterday, but had a last minute moving of my grandma last night
Aug 27, 2016 6:04 AM - danzca6: so now I can get the machete out tomorrow when it stops raining
    Aug 27, 2016 6:05 AM - Bill Monroe: zombies?
Aug 27, 2016 6:05 AM - danzca6: not that bad of course...but I hate it when my lawn gets long
    Aug 27, 2016 6:05 AM - danzca6: haha...no zombies yet
Aug 27, 2016 6:08 AM - danzca6: I need to work on that Roomba for Lawns I keep thinking about
Aug 27, 2016 6:09 AM - Bill Monroe: ah, they've been around for quite awhile
    Aug 27, 2016 6:10 AM - danzca6: darn...another missed money maker ;)
Aug 27, 2016 6:10 AM - Bill Monroe: i dunno.. none of them made any real money
Aug 27, 2016 6:10 AM - Bill Monroe: lawn mowers in california right now are filling up second hand shops
Aug 27, 2016 6:11 AM - Bill Monroe: with the drought, everyone is ripping out their lawns
Aug 27, 2016 6:12 AM - danzca6: yeah it is the most spoiled weed up here
Aug 27, 2016 6:13 AM - danzca6: going with a desert landscape has its perks
Aug 27, 2016 6:14 AM - Bill Monroe: well it's not always desert.. tolerant bushes and shrubs.. fake grass (which looks very real)..concrete patios....
Aug 27, 2016 6:18 AM - Bill Monroe: gads.. solidworks blocks.. why didt I know about this along time ago?
Aug 27, 2016 6:21 AM - danzca6: they just added it the other day in an update
Aug 27, 2016 6:22 AM - danzca6: not really, but trying to make you feel better, I have no idea about solidworks ;)
    Aug 27, 2016 6:23 AM - Bill Monroe: heh
Aug 27, 2016 8:49 AM - teknoprep: what is mesh bed leveling ?
Aug 27, 2016 9:09 AM - danzca6: a new voodoo that the marlin folks have put into the latest RC of the 1.1.0 firmware
Aug 27, 2016 9:09 AM - danzca6: it is a one time calibration instead of each print
Aug 27, 2016 9:10 AM - danzca6: it also adjusts for full bed contour like warping instead of just assuming perfectly flat like abl
    Aug 27, 2016 9:11 AM - danzca6: quoting daniel871 from yesterday, "Auto-level drools, Mesh Bed leveling rules"
    Aug 27, 2016 9:27 AM - danzca6: Anyone see this? SLM...very cool...
Aug 27, 2016 9:35 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah we also call it dmls
Aug 27, 2016 9:35 AM - Mike Kelly: it's pretty sweet technology but the machines are insanely expensive
Aug 27, 2016 9:35 AM - Mike Kelly: and so is the powder
Aug 27, 2016 9:35 AM - Mike Kelly: which is also explosive...
Aug 27, 2016 9:35 AM - Mike Kelly: and requires an argon atmosphere
Aug 27, 2016 9:35 AM - Mike Kelly: but yeah
Aug 27, 2016 9:35 AM - danzca6: MIKE! great to see you online
    Aug 27, 2016 9:35 AM - Mike Kelly: hey dan :)
Aug 27, 2016 9:36 AM - Mike Kelly: how are things
Aug 27, 2016 9:36 AM - danzca6: so is this similar to what you guys are looking at
    Aug 27, 2016 9:36 AM - danzca6: today is a recovery day
Aug 27, 2016 9:36 AM - Mike Kelly: na we aren't using lasers
Aug 27, 2016 9:36 AM - Mike Kelly: another cool technology is electron beam selective melting
    Aug 27, 2016 9:37 AM - danzca6: hold please while I google that
    Aug 27, 2016 9:37 AM - Mike Kelly: then there's binder jetting
    Aug 27, 2016 9:38 AM - danzca6: oh man...cool
Aug 27, 2016 9:39 AM - danzca6: btw, Matt is looking at updating your V6 install guide to have some of the latest information included and cutting it down to a short thread that is locked...too much for folks to read through
Aug 27, 2016 9:39 AM - Mike Kelly: cool do what ya need

Aug 27, 2016 9:39 AM - Mike Kelly: oh woops i realize i was wrong earlier
Aug 27, 2016 9:39 AM - Mike Kelly: he said this was SLM, so that's an ebeam part
Aug 27, 2016 9:40 AM - Mike Kelly: dmls uses lasers to sinter
Aug 27, 2016 9:40 AM - Mike Kelly: not bring it up to melting point
Aug 27, 2016 9:40 AM - danzca6: between all of the robo changes and e3d v6 changes...it will just consolidate that down to an easy read for folks
    Aug 27, 2016 9:40 AM - Mike Kelly: totally
Aug 27, 2016 9:41 AM - Mike Kelly: that will help
Aug 27, 2016 9:41 AM - Mike Kelly: the v6 is at least going to be all cartridges for thermistors soon
Aug 27, 2016 9:41 AM - Geof: Good Morning folks
Aug 27, 2016 9:41 AM - danzca6: yeah...I think they are already shipping new ones that way
    Aug 27, 2016 9:41 AM - danzca6: Hey Geof
Aug 27, 2016 9:42 AM - danzca6: MK have you heard anything about when e3d will be releasing their boot for the v6?
Aug 27, 2016 9:43 AM - danzca6: Geof I thought you would be on the road today
Aug 27, 2016 9:44 AM - Geof: Tomorrow my friend. Pachinko heaven lol. Today is clearing out the basement workshop to make room lol
Aug 27, 2016 9:44 AM - danzca6: oh...yeah it will be dry tomorrow as well
Aug 27, 2016 9:45 AM - danzca6: are you putting new sheets on the hide-a-bed (aka dog house)? haha
Aug 27, 2016 9:45 AM - Geof: Got the printers running some parts for the known machines so they'll be running until tomorrow around 10 while I clean.
Aug 27, 2016 9:46 AM - Geof: Lol lady approves my friend :) doghouse is the printer room lol,
Aug 27, 2016 9:47 AM - danzca6: haha...you should pick up a little something for her on the way home as a thank you for that
Aug 27, 2016 9:47 AM - danzca6: my wife would role her eyes and tell me I'm a hot mess if I brought all that home
Aug 27, 2016 9:49 AM - Geof: Lol she's been getting daily presents. You can send them my way buddy then she'll never know lol
    Aug 27, 2016 9:49 AM - danzca6: you're a generous man Geof ;)
Aug 27, 2016 9:50 AM - Geof: Lol got your back buddy lol.
Aug 27, 2016 9:50 AM - Geof: Working on picking 2 up on the trip as well lol.
Aug 27, 2016 9:50 AM - danzca6: well...if you have the room...might as well make the trip really worth it
Aug 27, 2016 9:51 AM - Geof: Lol right -! A Jurassic park and robo cop theme. Modern ones :)
Aug 27, 2016 9:53 AM - Geof: Don't necessarily have the rom but the big lot will be fixed and sold, the other two go in the bar :)
    Aug 27, 2016 9:53 AM - danzca6: drop your weapon...you have 20 seconds to comply...love the original robo cop
Aug 27, 2016 9:54 AM - Geof: Right ! Can't pass on it. Guy wants 250 for the pair so I should be able to pick them up for 150-200. Fair deal for both that way
    Aug 27, 2016 9:54 AM - danzca6: are they a table top machine?
    Aug 27, 2016 9:55 AM - danzca6: nm...google image showed me
    Aug 27, 2016 9:55 AM - Geof: Essentially yes.
    Aug 27, 2016 9:55 AM - danzca6: not sure why I forgot that
Aug 27, 2016 9:55 AM - Geof: Lol their fun like an upro
    Aug 27, 2016 9:55 AM - danzca6:
Aug 27, 2016 9:56 AM - Geof: Upright pinball with tons of balls and no flippers. Make the ball in the pocket and it kicks more balls to keep playing :). Great when drinking
    Aug 27, 2016 9:56 AM - Geof: That's the widget !
Aug 27, 2016 9:56 AM - danzca6: you and Toro would have a lot to talk about...he is into collecting and repairing pinball machines
    Aug 27, 2016 9:57 AM - danzca6: I'd like to build a table top mame machine
Aug 27, 2016 9:58 AM - Geof: I've done 2 pinball and a few arcades but a lot more to learn. Pachinko are easy to learn simple circuits with 3D printable mechanics :)
Aug 27, 2016 9:58 AM - Geof: That's what the lady wants too
Aug 27, 2016 9:59 AM - danzca6: yeah my kids just don't know the classics of old arcade machines like Gauntlet
Aug 27, 2016 10:00 AM - danzca6: I full size would be cool, but the room it would take up would not make my lady happy
Aug 27, 2016 10:01 AM - Geof: Lol! My lady met me in the middle, games in printroom, basement shop, or our garage bar.... And the pinball and a slot in the kitchen but nothing else in the living room lol
Aug 27, 2016 10:02 AM - danzca6: I am surprised she let you put anything in the kitchen...that's my wife's domain
Aug 27, 2016 10:03 AM - Geof: Lol :) let is a strong word haha more like came home and there they were
    Aug 27, 2016 10:03 AM - danzca6: asking for forgiveness instead of permission...nice
Aug 27, 2016 10:04 AM - Geof: Lol :) so far all that was said was... That's neat. Lol I left it at that
Aug 27, 2016 10:07 AM - Geof: Let me know when your ready for a vintage pachinko buddy I'll hook ya up lol
Aug 27, 2016 10:10 AM - danzca6: thanks...well I need to get my chores done before my wife comes home and thinks I sat at the computer all morning...shhh...hahaha
Aug 27, 2016 10:11 AM - Geof: Lol ! Blame it on me buddy! Ttys
Aug 27, 2016 10:12 AM - danzca6: naw...I'll blame it on being out late last night moving her grandma on a last minute notice from about 90 minutes away...good times
Aug 27, 2016 10:41 AM - Mike Kelly: dan regarding boot, i hope very soon but it only fits the pt100 style head
Aug 27, 2016 11:41 AM - danzca6: Thanks Mike. I heard the new head for the cartridge thermistor and the pt100 is about 3mm thicker. So that makes sense. I'm ordering the pt100 upgrade to go with the new controller I have coming.
    Aug 27, 2016 12:48 PM - teknoprep: how would i add mesh bed leveling to a Robo3d R1+
Aug 27, 2016 12:56 PM - Toro1966: hey guys - question - printing this candy jar and the print came out but i printed the jar and I printed it upside down (small side down) as it imported. Take a look at the pic. Doesn't look as pretty. That's where the supports were, but they came off very easy so I don't think they caused it necessarily. Is it possible I was prinitn gtoo fast (60mm/s)? Or maybe a different orientation?
    Aug 27, 2016 12:57 PM - Toro1966: [IMG]
    Aug 27, 2016 12:57 PM - Toro1966: [IMG]
    Aug 27, 2016 12:58 PM - teknoprep: i would reduce the size to 25%
    Aug 27, 2016 12:58 PM - teknoprep: try printing a few
Aug 27, 2016 12:59 PM - teknoprep: i also wouldn't print this hold side down as that is the side you want to look good
Aug 27, 2016 12:59 PM - teknoprep: although the hole may end up better and smoother
Aug 27, 2016 1:00 PM - teknoprep: change the size of your supports as well.. if you are using S3D its pretty simple
Aug 27, 2016 1:00 PM - teknoprep: i use 1mm supports for small items but for this i would use 4mm as it looks tall
Aug 27, 2016 1:01 PM - teknoprep: there also might not be enough supports
    Aug 27, 2016 1:04 PM - Toro1966: This was with 4mm supports.
Aug 27, 2016 1:05 PM - Toro1966: Not sure what you mean by reduce the size. You mean scale the object?
Aug 27, 2016 1:07 PM - teknoprep: yeah scale it
Aug 27, 2016 1:07 PM - teknoprep: so you can test a few things on a smaller version
Aug 27, 2016 1:07 PM - teknoprep: that thing looks like it took awhile to print
Aug 27, 2016 1:08 PM - Toro1966: don't want to scale it. Want it to be this size.
    Aug 27, 2016 1:08 PM - Toro1966: Ahh - got it
    Aug 27, 2016 1:08 PM - teknoprep: i understand that
Aug 27, 2016 1:08 PM - teknoprep: ok cool lol
    Aug 27, 2016 1:08 PM - Toro1966: Sorry about that
Aug 27, 2016 1:08 PM - teknoprep: yeah the angle will still be the same if you scale it.. so you have to find the right support settings for that section
Aug 27, 2016 1:09 PM - Toro1966: Yeah, it took about 6 hours. I bet if I print slower it will come out better as well. I also just rotated it and generated supports and I think I like that better. I am going to try and print that next
    Aug 27, 2016 1:09 PM - teknoprep: cool
    Aug 27, 2016 1:11 PM - Toro1966: I did go on a filament run today though :) [IMG]
    Aug 27, 2016 1:14 PM - Toro1966: Van't beat it at 14.99 a kg
    Aug 27, 2016 1:14 PM - Toro1966: Can't
Aug 27, 2016 2:10 PM - Geof: Hey toro you still around ?
Aug 27, 2016 2:11 PM - Geof: Ivw got a few spools of inland and esum, you notice an odd smell when running it ? Smells funky lol
Aug 27, 2016 2:55 PM - Toro1966: I never noticed. Smells fine to me. Lol
Aug 27, 2016 2:56 PM - Toro1966: Was out sighting in the bow getting ready for deer season
    Aug 27, 2016 3:36 PM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
    Aug 27, 2016 3:43 PM - danzca6: That doesn't look 3d printed :p jk looks great Bill
    Aug 27, 2016 4:31 PM - Toro1966: Nice!
    Aug 27, 2016 5:10 PM - Bill Monroe: back
Aug 27, 2016 5:13 PM - Bill Monroe: More tests... these are for the AR I am building....[IMG]
    Aug 27, 2016 5:52 PM - danzca6: bang, no bang....nice....is that for the safety?
Aug 27, 2016 5:53 PM - danzca6: I can see where the tool starts and stops a bit, but it looks pretty good to me
Aug 27, 2016 5:54 PM - danzca6: Man, just got done mowing the long grass...the way the grass was sticking back up where my tires went was like it was sticking its' middle finger up at my efforts
Aug 27, 2016 5:54 PM - Mike Glass: hey guys
    Aug 27, 2016 5:54 PM - danzca6: wow....MG...how are you sir
Aug 27, 2016 5:54 PM - Mike Glass: good dan, long time eh?
Aug 27, 2016 5:55 PM - danzca6: man earlier MK was on and now you...it's like we are getting the band back together
Aug 27, 2016 5:55 PM - Mike Glass: Im designing, so decided to see who was on. I keep on trying to get here but man, busy as hell these days.
Aug 27, 2016 5:56 PM - danzca6: I was thinking of you and NFO the other day when I saw this craigslist listing...sounds like a good deal if you can get it working...http://chambana.craigslist.org/ele/5740598573.html
Aug 27, 2016 5:57 PM - Mike Glass: Holy crap that is cheap

Aug 27, 2016 5:57 PM - danzca6: yeah with all the extras it might be worth it for me to drive down
Aug 27, 2016 5:57 PM - Mike Glass: the chiller is almost worth $750
Aug 27, 2016 5:57 PM - danzca6: just have no clue how to fix it

Aug 27, 2016 6:00 PM - Mike Glass: good, just busy with work and side jobs, I got a new venture making scoreboards for a shuffleboard company.
Aug 27, 2016 6:00 PM - Bill Monroe: But I did get a CNC mill
Aug 27, 2016 6:01 PM - danzca6: shuffleboard company...I thought that was just done in FL
    Aug 27, 2016 6:01 PM - Mike Glass: sweet I want a cnd mill.
Aug 27, 2016 6:02 PM - Mike Glass: but may be looking at a new avionics company that makes parts, they are looking for an IT person.
Aug 27, 2016 6:03 PM - Bill Monroe: that pic is too big.. durn iphones
Aug 27, 2016 6:03 PM - danzca6: looking at that for a new full time gig MG or a side job

    Aug 27, 2016 6:06 PM - danzca6: don't let 2.0 see you looking at that Bill
Aug 27, 2016 6:06 PM - Bill Monroe: heh.. she's every bit as good
Aug 27, 2016 6:06 PM - Mike Glass: well my name was mentioned from a friend we will see what happens.
    Aug 27, 2016 6:06 PM - Mike Glass: so is that a tormach pc1100
Aug 27, 2016 6:07 PM - Bill Monroe: ya.. got it used in AZ from a widow
Aug 27, 2016 6:07 PM - Bill Monroe: upgraded it to the series III hardware
    Aug 27, 2016 6:07 PM - Bill Monroe: came with a 4th axis and a butt-ton of tooling
Aug 27, 2016 6:07 PM - Mike Glass: nice, I want to get a 450, its on my list to get after my 17" bandsaw
    Aug 27, 2016 6:08 PM - Bill Monroe: what's a 450?
    Aug 27, 2016 6:09 PM - Mike Glass: err 440
    Aug 27, 2016 6:09 PM - Mike Glass: it replaced the 1100 I think
Aug 27, 2016 6:09 PM - Bill Monroe: ah.. the iddybitty one...
Aug 27, 2016 6:09 PM - Bill Monroe: no, it's a tiny version of it
Aug 27, 2016 6:09 PM - Bill Monroe: the number is the weight of the main machine
Aug 27, 2016 6:11 PM - Mike Glass: gotcha, its still a sweet machine.
Aug 27, 2016 6:11 PM - Mike Glass: well dinner time ttl

    Aug 28, 2016 6:00 AM - danzca6: Watching Tom put together the i3 MK2 on YT
Aug 28, 2016 6:18 AM - danzca6: haha...he's got one assembled and on kit...nice to watch it working as he builds
Aug 28, 2016 7:12 AM - Geof: Danzca dont you wish we were good enough to get free printers :)
    Aug 28, 2016 7:14 AM - danzca6: yeah...we need a youtube channel
Aug 28, 2016 7:22 AM - danzca6: he even has josef on the stream...josef is very active in build events. I saw him in a mini community build event that built the new mk2. He did a skype with the group. Pretty cool guy from what I have seen of him.
    Aug 28, 2016 7:29 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
Aug 28, 2016 12:56 PM - Toro1966: What is the resolution on the Prusa MK2?
Aug 28, 2016 1:00 PM - daniel871: All of the reviews I've seen for it say it's a really good printer.
    Aug 28, 2016 1:07 PM - danzca6: I think it has no problem going to .05
Aug 28, 2016 1:08 PM - danzca6: The .2 Aria that Tom printers looked amazing
Aug 28, 2016 1:08 PM - danzca6: And that was on the pre assembled one straight out of the box
Aug 28, 2016 1:20 PM - Toro1966: Is that the dragon? Where can I find that?
    Aug 28, 2016 2:37 PM - danzca6: just search for aria on Thingiverse buddy....http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:600550
Aug 28, 2016 2:42 PM - danzca6: of course Tom and his great sense of humor kept calling it a frog
Aug 28, 2016 2:51 PM - danzca6: man the calibration routine for the X/Y is extensive on the mk2
    Aug 28, 2016 2:51 PM - danzca6: heavily customized firmware
Aug 28, 2016 2:57 PM - danzca6: Hey if anyone sees Schlomo on here today make sure to wish him happy B-Day
Aug 28, 2016 3:12 PM - danzca6: wow the mk2 can do z-offset adjustment on the fly using the lcd while printing the first layer
Aug 28, 2016 5:03 PM - WheresWaldo: We can do that too, it's called babystepping and I had it enabled up through RC6 with auto-leveling but have since disabled it in RC7.

Aug 29, 2016 at 6:24 AM - daniel871: It's probably nice to not have to research how to set that up right out of the box though.
Aug 29, 2016 at 6:49 AM - danzca6: and the built in LCD menu system for all of the calibrations and loading and unloading filament is pretty slick
Aug 29, 2016 at 7:39 AM - WheresWaldo: Josef also has his own fork of Marlin that he uses on his printers. More specific to Prusa models and less generic like Marlin in general.
Aug 29, 2016 at 7:55 AM - daniel871: I see that as a fairly good thing if he's actually making the effort to fine-tune/optimize the firmware.
Aug 29, 2016 at 8:10 AM - danzca6: ok...so I laughed when reading through his improvments with the latest version of the firmware when I saw the line that said "Improvements to fire safety"
Aug 29, 2016 at 8:12 AM - danzca6: scrolling down he has details around that "â—¾Original Marlin FW and previous Prusa3D firmwares just stopped when printer detected risky behaviour. Now it stops the print, spins up both fans at 100% power and starts beeping. Both fans can keep hotend at safe temperatures even if the hotend mosfet would malfunction and was on 100% of the time."
    Aug 29, 2016 at 8:12 AM - danzca6: so pretty cool
    Aug 29, 2016 at 8:22 AM - danzca6: and this is cool...http://prusaprinters.org/colorprint-is-out/#_ga=1.64346927.1652472773.1463659949

Aug 29, 2016 at 9:15 AM - PeterkSharma: Ive been away from printing for a while. Did Marlin finally get its update?
    Aug 29, 2016 at 9:16 AM - danzca6: It's on RC7
    Aug 29, 2016 at 9:16 AM - PeterkSharma: what?
Aug 29, 2016 at 9:18 AM - danzca6: oh, where you asking about a fish? I thought you were asking about the latest firmware ;)
    Aug 29, 2016 at 9:19 AM - PeterkSharma: My marlin is 1.1
    Aug 29, 2016 at 9:19 AM - PeterkSharma: i'm not sure what RC& means
    Aug 29, 2016 at 9:19 AM - PeterkSharma: RC7
    Aug 29, 2016 at 9:20 AM - danzca6: release candidate
    Aug 29, 2016 at 9:21 AM - danzca6: they are on 1.1.0 RC7 at the moment
    Aug 29, 2016 at 9:23 AM - PeterkSharma: gotcha
    Aug 29, 2016 at 9:23 AM - PeterkSharma: is the RC7 stable>
Aug 29, 2016 at 9:24 AM - danzca6: some are using it here...have you been reading WheresWaldo's thread about it?
Aug 29, 2016 at 9:26 AM - PeterkSharma: I was wokring on it in May. Then my thermisor broke and I havent started looking agian
Aug 29, 2016 at 9:28 AM - danzca6: so they were on RC4 back then I think...few changes since then
Aug 29, 2016 at 9:29 AM - PeterkSharma: I heard there was a bug there could freeze some shit up
Aug 29, 2016 at 9:29 AM - PeterkSharma: know if that is still around?

    Aug 29, 2016 at 9:31 AM - PeterkSharma: sweeeet
Aug 29, 2016 at 11:48 AM - teknoprep: wow... the e3d v6 is WAYYYY better
    Aug 29, 2016 at 11:48 AM - teknoprep: i love this
Aug 29, 2016 at 11:48 AM - teknoprep: the printer is printing much better than before
Aug 29, 2016 at 11:56 AM - WayUpNorthMN: Yeah, the E3D makes a world of difference
Aug 29, 2016 at 11:56 AM - WayUpNorthMN: Would anyone recommend an adequate way to convert the Robo3D to dual extrusion? Bowden or Direct? E3d?
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:00 PM - daniel871: What are you wanting dual extrusion for?
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:01 PM - daniel871: I did it on my first 3d printer. Got it set up, calibrated, etc., never actually used it in any prints I made after setting it up.
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:02 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I just thought it would be a fun ugrade
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:02 PM - daniel871: So did I at first, but it quickly left the realm of "fun".
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:03 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Became a hear-tearing nightmare, did it? MK told me how hellish it is lol
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:04 PM - daniel871: If you have an R1+, forget about it because the firmware/hardware headache isn't worth it. The R1+ is locked into a single-extruder setup on the controller side of things.
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:04 PM - daniel871: It has no more slots for adding motor controllers.
    Aug 29, 2016 at 12:04 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Gotcha. Well luckily I still have a R1
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:05 PM - daniel871: And the Ramps extender that's out there precludes mounting an LCD controller along with the motor controller extension.
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:06 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Well how about for flexible filaments? Any hotends you would recommend?
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:06 PM - daniel871: The hotend has very little to do with the flexibility of the filament, that's all the extruder cold-end setup.
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:07 PM - daniel871: So you have things like hercustruders, titans and bondtechs as answers to that problem for a carriage setup like the Robo.
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:08 PM - daniel871: Or simple hack-jobs like putting PTFE tube between the hotend and the hobbed bolt, very carefully trimmed so that the PTFE fits right against the curve of the bolt and bearing.
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:08 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I heard the Titan was pretty good. Thomas S did a pretty good video on it
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:09 PM - daniel871: It is, but my Robo died around the time I was getting ready to design up a carriage for it on the Robo (in that race with everyone else that was doing it) so I've just got it on hand for whenever I get to rolling my own printer.
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:09 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I kind of fell off the face of the earth as far as 3d printing goes up until just recently
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:10 PM - daniel871: A lot of really good budget printers have come out in the last few months, or have been fine-tuned to punch way above their price tag.
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:10 PM - daniel871: The Wanhao i3/Monoprice Maker Select/Cocoon Create 3d printers are all really good for $300-500 (depending on sales/coupons).
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:14 PM - WayUpNorthMN: My poor wallet. XD
    Aug 29, 2016 at 12:14 PM - teknoprep: does anyone know of a cheap 1m x 1m x 1m printer ?
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:14 PM - teknoprep: i want to print larger stuff
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:14 PM - teknoprep: that uses reprap
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:15 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Oh my, I'd love to 3d print a table that holds my 3d printer and fixtures
    Aug 29, 2016 at 12:16 PM - teknoprep: lol
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:16 PM - teknoprep: i want to start printing computer cases
    Aug 29, 2016 at 12:21 PM - daniel871: https://i.imgur.com/lnEyozD.gifv
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:22 PM - daniel871: It would literally cost less to just buy a table than to build or otherwise buy a printer large enough to print furniture.
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:23 PM - daniel871: Nevermind that when you get into meter-cube printers your material feed changes from filament spools to hoppers of pellets.
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:24 PM - daniel871: Well, meter-cube printers that are worth running, any that still use filament spools are only good for vase prints (because it's next to impossible to source large enough filament spools that will run properly for that long).
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:26 PM - daniel871: On another note, this is one lucky dog.
    Aug 29, 2016 at 12:26 PM - danzca6: http://3dplatform.com/products-3/equipment-platforms/
    Aug 29, 2016 at 12:26 PM - danzca6: still not a full meter cubed
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:28 PM - danzca6: and they are no where near the cheap side of things
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:28 PM - danzca6: you know there are ways to fasten 3d printed parts together to make a large object instead of trying to print the world in a single print
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:36 PM - Toro1966: Quick question - Assuming Z offset is correct - is a more likely reason for non-adherence TOO much hair spray or NOT enough
    Aug 29, 2016 at 12:37 PM - danzca6: PLA?
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:38 PM - danzca6: normally not enough or the base of the model doesn't have a good enough footprint and you might need to add a raft.
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:38 PM - danzca6: clean the bed off and add some fresh hairspray. I have had oils from my hand give me a fit on a print so I needed to wipe the glass clean and do it all over
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:41 PM - Toro1966: Yep PLA - pic coming. Think I might have used too mcuh oil
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:41 PM - Toro1966: Yep - too much oil - almost positive. I extruded 200-300 mm of filament and it's not even sticking to each other as it pools...
Aug 29, 2016 at 12:48 PM - Toro1966: Can using too much hairspray cause it not to stick as well?
    Aug 29, 2016 at 12:58 PM - Toro1966: [IMG]
    Aug 29, 2016 at 12:58 PM - Toro1966: [IMG]
Aug 29, 2016 at 1:01 PM - daniel871: There is no such thing as too much hairspray provided you allow it to dry before starting the print.
Aug 29, 2016 at 1:01 PM - daniel871: Pile that shit on there until you can no longer see the white paint clearly when it dries.
Aug 29, 2016 at 1:02 PM - daniel871: It'll be good for several prints before you need to clean it and reapply hairspray.
Aug 29, 2016 at 1:04 PM - Toro1966: cool - thanks! Also - I notice that when it starts printing the outline, where it sets down is a little blob - if that makes sense. So it's like a blob dot at the beginning of the trail of filament it's extruding. It's not huge, and it doesn't impact the print yet, but is that too low of z offset maybe?
Aug 29, 2016 at 1:16 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I have been doing 3d printing for a solid year and a half and have used nothing but painters tape. I have since discovered the wonders of using hairspray, because I have never tried anything else. MAN, what a difference.
Aug 29, 2016 at 1:19 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Painter's tape is way too strong, especially if you clean it with isopropyl. It tears off with the print and you have tape stuck to the bottom of your print and it is a pain in the arse to get off
    Aug 29, 2016 at 1:46 PM - Toro1966: More hairspray = more better!
Aug 29, 2016 at 4:25 PM - danzca6: We need more cow bell
    Aug 29, 2016 at 5:58 PM - Toro1966: slwo night it seems
    Aug 29, 2016 at 5:58 PM - Toro1966: slow
Aug 29, 2016 at 6:17 PM - Toro1966: Just looked at the Tevo Black Widow. Not perfect, but man what nice parts! :)
    Aug 29, 2016 at 6:34 PM - jim3Dbot: Ahhhhh Man, Willy Wonka.............Gene Wilder passed..............
Aug 29, 2016 at 6:40 PM - Toro1966: I know! Love that movie. Watching it now in his honor of course.
Aug 29, 2016 at 7:37 PM - danzca6: Jessie has an amazing story and always like hearing from him... Glad to see Robo do a commercial with him.

Aug 30, 2016 5:59 AM - Bill Monroe: hey Jeff
Aug 30, 2016 6:01 AM - JeffTheMess: hows it going Bill
Aug 30, 2016 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: pretty good.. designing a linear encoder atm.. you?
    Aug 30, 2016 6:06 AM - JeffTheMess: pretty good
Aug 30, 2016 6:06 AM - JeffTheMess: hows that going?
Aug 30, 2016 6:07 AM - Bill Monroe: fine.. machine I'm doing now is an evolution of one made 4 years ago.. has 48 linear encoders that went EOL
Aug 30, 2016 6:08 AM - Bill Monroe: they were $165 each.. units we've found that will "drop-in" replace are now in excess of $900
    Aug 30, 2016 6:08 AM - Bill Monroe: so, I'll design my own :)
Aug 30, 2016 6:08 AM - JeffTheMess: wow better off using a paper printer encoder lol
Aug 30, 2016 6:09 AM - Bill Monroe: they need to be industrial-rugged and impervious to dust.. and can never, ever fail.
Aug 30, 2016 6:12 AM - JeffTheMess: your doing the electronics
Aug 30, 2016 6:14 AM - Bill Monroe: on no. I'm installing a HEDS module (US Digital EM2) and a linear strip.
    Aug 30, 2016 6:17 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
Aug 30, 2016 7:11 AM - Bill Monroe: so far: [IMG]
    Aug 30, 2016 7:15 AM - JeffTheMess: pretty
Aug 30, 2016 7:15 AM - JeffTheMess: how accurate will your encoder be
Aug 30, 2016 10:34 AM - Printed Solid: hey, does anyone know if the R1+ stepper on the extruder is hard wired or connectorized?
Aug 30, 2016 10:44 AM - danzca6: I believe it is "connectorized" from a video I saw from AxisLab going over the differences in the R1+
Aug 30, 2016 10:56 AM - Printed Solid: Thanks. I'll check with him.
Aug 30, 2016 11:03 AM - Printed Solid: He has a refurb, so not quite authentic to what an out of the box + would have.
Aug 30, 2016 11:04 AM - Printed Solid: Anyone on with a R1+ that they purchased stock who could check for me?
    Aug 30, 2016 11:05 AM - danzca6:
    Aug 30, 2016 11:06 AM - danzca6: I think he has 3
Aug 30, 2016 11:07 AM - NFOsec: Curious Printed, you have that Block & Sock - V6 Upgrade kit per chance yet?
Aug 30, 2016 11:08 AM - Printed Solid: @danzca6 I just asked him. he doesn't have any that were stock. They are all conversions of some kind.
    Aug 30, 2016 11:08 AM - danzca6: haha
    Aug 30, 2016 11:09 AM - danzca6: ok, that video looked like he got a new R1+
Aug 30, 2016 11:09 AM - Printed Solid: @NFOsec, not in my hands yet. Leave it to E3D to announce a product when they are on holiday.
    Aug 30, 2016 11:09 AM - danzca6: Geof should know then...he has an R1+
Aug 30, 2016 11:09 AM - NFOsec: yeah, gotta love that right?
Aug 30, 2016 11:09 AM - Printed Solid: Maybe he sent that back?
Aug 30, 2016 11:10 AM - NFOsec: definitely looks like a good boot/sock design compared to the conventional hex boot.
Aug 30, 2016 11:10 AM - Printed Solid: Yeah. They are trying to bite off a lot right now. I've been a bit confused by some things.
Aug 30, 2016 11:10 AM - Printed Solid: definitely. They've been developing it for a long time, so I trust that it will be good.
Aug 30, 2016 11:10 AM - danzca6: yeah they need to get the BB back on track
Aug 30, 2016 11:10 AM - Printed Solid: the upgrade kit will be just the boot, the new thermistor, and the new heater block, right?
    Aug 30, 2016 11:11 AM - danzca6: I think so
    Aug 30, 2016 11:11 AM - NFOsec: yup.
    Aug 30, 2016 11:11 AM - NFOsec: http://e3d-online.com/V6-Block-Sock-Kit
Aug 30, 2016 11:11 AM - danzca6: the newer blocks are about 3mm bigger than the old with the new thermistor
Aug 30, 2016 11:11 AM - danzca6: so I don't think the boot will work on old blocks
Aug 30, 2016 11:11 AM - NFOsec: "fixings" which is probably the condiments such as onions, relish, pickles, etc
    Aug 30, 2016 11:12 AM - danzca6: interesting choice nfo
Aug 30, 2016 11:12 AM - NFOsec: well, 3mm probably covers the condom and their logo.
    Aug 30, 2016 11:12 AM - danzca6: I want mine in a different color though
Aug 30, 2016 11:13 AM - NFOsec: Aisle 4 at Walgreens for you Danz.
    Aug 30, 2016 11:13 AM - NFOsec: Just remember, with a Robo3D R1++ you can procreate too!
    Aug 30, 2016 11:14 AM - danzca6: hey, you have an R1+ right?
Aug 30, 2016 11:14 AM - danzca6: can you answer Matt's question about the extruder motor being hard wired or not?
    Aug 30, 2016 11:15 AM - NFOsec: R1+ plus plus+
    Aug 30, 2016 11:16 AM - danzca6: is that the R1+ XXL
Aug 30, 2016 11:16 AM - NFOsec: extruder motor being hardwired on which side?
Aug 30, 2016 11:16 AM - NFOsec: danz, that isn't even in existence yet. R1+ plus
Aug 30, 2016 11:17 AM - NFOsec: was the new model shipping as of August 2015, got mine 2nd week of September..
Aug 30, 2016 11:17 AM - danzca6: oh that's right you have the bondtech...do you even have your old extruder stepper motor laying around?
Aug 30, 2016 11:17 AM - NFOsec: since I put in the E3Dv6 from Printed, and updated some quality hot-ends, Bondtech extruder, never had a problemn.
Aug 30, 2016 11:18 AM - NFOsec: yeah, I do, hold on, pulling it out.
    Aug 30, 2016 11:18 AM - danzca6: cover your eyes kids
    Aug 30, 2016 11:18 AM - danzca6: cool thanks
Aug 30, 2016 11:18 AM - NFOsec: was he trying to?
Aug 30, 2016 11:19 AM - danzca6: Not sure if Matt is still here
Aug 30, 2016 11:19 AM - danzca6: he was just wondering if it was or not
Aug 30, 2016 11:19 AM - Printed Solid: on the motor side. I have a customer in, so will be in and out.
Aug 30, 2016 11:19 AM - danzca6: not sure what he was trying to do with it
Aug 30, 2016 11:19 AM - NFOsec: He'll see this comment soon enough.
    Aug 30, 2016 11:19 AM - NFOsec: fun.
    Aug 30, 2016 11:19 AM - danzca6: haha...don't let your customer read this Matt
Aug 30, 2016 11:19 AM - NFOsec: later, do me a Solid and let me know if you will carry the bootie kit.
    Aug 30, 2016 11:20 AM - NFOsec: gone, deleted.
Aug 30, 2016 11:20 AM - Printed Solid: will definitely carry it.
Aug 30, 2016 11:20 AM - danzca6: oh man this went south quick
    Aug 30, 2016 11:20 AM - Printed Solid: lol
    Aug 30, 2016 11:20 AM - danzca6: is it friday yet?
    Aug 30, 2016 11:21 AM - danzca6: haha
Aug 30, 2016 11:23 AM - NFOsec: Well, I'm off to die, zombiechat another time.
    Aug 30, 2016 11:24 AM - danzca6: haha...NFO take care buddy
Aug 30, 2016 11:27 AM - danzca6: and when does e3d announce something without stringing it out for like 10 hours on twitter?
Aug 30, 2016 11:31 AM - danzca6: Matt...your US competition already has these on his website...e3d should get back to you quick
Aug 30, 2016 11:47 AM - Printed Solid: yeah, I don't know. 3 days ago, my contact at E3D said the socks are available and shipping, but not upgrade packs.
Aug 30, 2016 11:48 AM - Printed Solid: They actually might be sitting at my house right now. E3D tends to ship to my house instead of the shop.
Aug 30, 2016 11:48 AM - Printed Solid: ... socks available but not upgrade kits doesn't make much sense does it? Since only the socks are new...
Aug 30, 2016 11:48 AM - Printed Solid: oh well. we'll have them soon.
Aug 30, 2016 12:31 PM - danzca6: I've been waiting for them to release these for some time now. Glad to see they have it out now. Hope you get yours soon. SInce they come in packs of 3, wonder what their life expectancy is?
    Aug 30, 2016 12:38 PM - Bill Monroe: lunchtime
    Aug 30, 2016 12:42 PM - danzca6: what are we having today?
Aug 30, 2016 12:46 PM - Bill Monroe: 2.0's egg salad with some water crackers
    Aug 30, 2016 12:49 PM - danzca6: hmmm...sounds good. Mine was pb&j on two heals of bread...not too exciting
Aug 30, 2016 12:52 PM - Bill Monroe: i dunno.. i make bread, 2.0 makes peach jam.. pbj is pretty awesome around here
Aug 30, 2016 12:53 PM - Bill Monroe: i get to host the girls for Labor Day
    Aug 30, 2016 12:53 PM - danzca6: nice
Aug 30, 2016 12:54 PM - danzca6: what big plans do you have
Aug 30, 2016 12:54 PM - Bill Monroe: ya know, that braless is back in style?
Aug 30, 2016 12:54 PM - danzca6: hmmm, must be a CA thing because I'm not seeing that in IL
Aug 30, 2016 12:55 PM - Bill Monroe: nuttin.. I'm going to work on my encoder.. she and her cohorts are going to do what they usually do
Aug 30, 2016 12:55 PM - Bill Monroe: ya.. it was popular in the late 60s.. now it come around again...
Aug 30, 2016 12:56 PM - danzca6: the obesity rate was much lower in the 60's...so there's that

Aug 31, 2016 at 4:35 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
Aug 31, 2016 at 2:45 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Woot! Gotz me a E3D Titan and a Nema 17 pancake on its way! Would you guys know what kind of speeds you can cat out of a setup like that (for basic parts)?
Aug 31, 2016 at 2:46 PM - WayUpNorthMN: get* not cat
Aug 31, 2016 at 2:47 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Oh, and I wrapped the heat block in automotive silicone tape, is that adequate for heat shielding?
Aug 31, 2016 at 3:10 PM - Bill Monroe: speeds will be dependent on your setup and the power of the motor.. best to try it
Aug 31, 2016 at 3:10 PM - Bill Monroe: I've never, nor have I felt the need, to wrap my heatbreak with anything
Aug 31, 2016 at 3:19 PM - danzca6: Have you checked out the new silicone boot for the e3d heat block? Just another option
Aug 31, 2016 at 3:40 PM - Bill Monroe: Dan
Aug 31, 2016 at 4:21 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Have you guys any idea on the firmware changes I will need to make with the new extruder?
Aug 31, 2016 at 4:47 PM - danzca6: Which thermistor did you get
Aug 31, 2016 at 4:48 PM - danzca6: Sorry I missed you Bill.... Had to go to soccer practice
Aug 31, 2016 at 4:54 PM - danzca6: If you got the stock thermistor then it is just one like in the configuration.h file. It's spelled out on the e3d wiki for assemble
    Aug 31, 2016 at 4:55 PM - danzca6: http://wiki.e3d-online.com/wiki/E3D-v6_Assembly
Aug 31, 2016 at 4:55 PM - danzca6: and don't forget the thermal compound step
Aug 31, 2016 at 4:55 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Well, heres the thing. I broke the thermistor while trying to wrap the block in silicone. So I ordered some more 100k NTC thermistors.
Aug 31, 2016 at 5:06 PM - danzca6: did you get one of the older v6's?
Aug 31, 2016 at 5:06 PM - danzca6: the new ones come with a cartridge thermistor
    Aug 31, 2016 at 5:06 PM - danzca6: http://e3d-online.com/E3D-v6/Spares/V6-Block-Sock-Kit
Aug 31, 2016 at 5:06 PM - danzca6: you can upgrade yours to this
Aug 31, 2016 at 5:07 PM - danzca6: makes assembly easier and the new boot keeps it insulated and clean
Aug 31, 2016 at 5:07 PM - danzca6: filastruder.com has them instock in the states as well http://www.filastruder.com/collecti...s/products/v6-volcano-cartridge-style-upgrade
Aug 31, 2016 at 5:10 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Eh? No no, sorry, I think we are talking about two different things. I meant the E3D Titan, if there is any firmware changes that need to be made. I have the E3D V6 already :)
    Aug 31, 2016 at 5:12 PM - danzca6: well...that is a horse of a different color...so yes...you will need to change the e steps
Aug 31, 2016 at 5:13 PM - danzca6: still a nice upgrade if you want to for you v6 ;)
    Aug 31, 2016 at 5:13 PM - danzca6: Here is the Titan instructions http://wiki.e3d-online.com/wiki/Titan_Assembly
Aug 31, 2016 at 5:16 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Yeah, I saw on reddit that sock came out. But, I just used silicone tape for now because I had some in my brother's shop. Now, shouldn't I just be able to blast it with air now (within reason)?
    Aug 31, 2016 at 5:19 PM - danzca6: I don't have anything on mine
Aug 31, 2016 at 5:21 PM - danzca6: oh and the titan isn't going to get you more speed
Aug 31, 2016 at 5:22 PM - danzca6: speed is going to come down to the design of the axis and other motion control components
Aug 31, 2016 at 5:58 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Well I mainly bought it to simplify hotend swaps and printing flexables.
Aug 31, 2016 at 6:12 PM - danzca6: Then you will be happy... It does that well
Aug 31, 2016 at 6:17 PM - NateTheApe: Be sure to set the steps/mm to 417ish then calibrate it...mine came out to 410 steps/mm for the titan when I installed it
Aug 31, 2016 at 6:19 PM - NateTheApe: Dang, wish Printed Solid would have had the socks in when I ordered my V6 last week. Guess I'll get some of those on the way.
Aug 31, 2016 at 6:21 PM - danzca6: I know. .e3d didn't do Matt right on this announcement. They didn't have him in the loop as much as they should and he should have had stock by the time they announced.
Aug 31, 2016 at 6:22 PM - danzca6: Getting 3 boots is pretty cheap thankfully
Aug 31, 2016 at 6:30 PM - NateTheApe: Yeah just another shipping fee :( but I'll get a pack of 3 regardless
Aug 31, 2016 at 6:35 PM - danzca6: Cough... Don't forget another bag of gummy bears
Aug 31, 2016 at 6:37 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I bought the E3D V6 6 months ago without knowing that they'd be in there, and I could not stop laughing out loud.
Aug 31, 2016 at 6:39 PM - danzca6: My son loves it when I get a package from printed Solid
Aug 31, 2016 at 6:41 PM - danzca6: I see Josef Prusa sends a couple big bags with his mk2 kit... That might have just been for Tom, but I'm hopeful
Aug 31, 2016 at 6:45 PM - Bill Monroe: yo
    Aug 31, 2016 at 6:45 PM - danzca6: Yeah Bill
Aug 31, 2016 at 6:45 PM - Bill Monroe: 'sup?

Aug 31, 2016 at 6:48 PM - danzca6: I've been getting a cold, so 9pm seems late for me tonight... Of course a soak in the hot tub sounds good
Aug 31, 2016 at 6:48 PM - Bill Monroe: oh man.. 104 degree water is awesome for colds and sinues
Aug 31, 2016 at 6:49 PM - danzca6: OK you talked me into it... Have any spare room?
Aug 31, 2016 at 6:49 PM - Bill Monroe: i put a new bulb in the bug buster.. bats were out by the dozens last night :)

Aug 31, 2016 at 6:52 PM - danzca6: Good thing I have my own sitting outside ready to go... I'll see if the Mrs wants to join me
Aug 31, 2016 at 6:52 PM - Bill Monroe: you'd think they were working on world peace or something..

Aug 31, 2016 at 6:57 PM - danzca6: It's always a trap when they ask those types of questions

Sep 1, 2016 at 8:21 AM - danzca6: If you are trying to use Cura 2.0, you might want to go back to the previous version. Unless you are really set on the 2.0 version. There is a built in profile for the robo r1 in the previous versions.

Sep 3, 2016 7:40 AM - teknoprep: getting initial height for first layer is a bitch
Sep 3, 2016 7:54 AM - Bill Monroe: if you say so
Sep 3, 2016 8:23 AM - teknoprep: anyone know if there is a good mod to print for the robo3d r1+ that allows for a bowden extruder setup and an e3d v6 ?
Sep 3, 2016 8:23 AM - teknoprep: i want to do a remote drive setup
    Sep 3, 2016 11:22 AM - Tex©: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:343995
    Sep 3, 2016 11:22 AM - Tex©: try that?
Sep 3, 2016 12:00 PM - Printed Solid: You won't need anything really for the R1+
Sep 3, 2016 12:01 PM - Printed Solid: I'd advise the titan for your extruder though. It has a strong drive and is compact and easy to mount.
Sep 3, 2016 12:14 PM - teknoprep: i was actually looking at this even though its not external
    Sep 3, 2016 12:14 PM - teknoprep: https://flexionextruder.com/shop/extruder-for-e3d-hotend/
Sep 3, 2016 12:25 PM - Printed Solid: I'd go with the titan over that. Price is less, performance is at least equivalent, and the cost is less.
Sep 3, 2016 12:26 PM - Printed Solid: Plus you have better community support here for the titan. A lot of people have it installed.
Sep 3, 2016 12:27 PM - Printed Solid: Don't get me wrong, the flexion is good and if you had a different printer, it might be a preferred option, but you're going to be able to hop on the shoutbox and say "I'm trying to install the titan and having X problem' and be able to get a quick response most of the time.
    Sep 3, 2016 1:36 PM - NFOsec: wazzup.
Sep 3, 2016 4:08 PM - teknoprep: with the robo3d r1 plus... is is possible to upgrade to dual extruders ?
Sep 3, 2016 4:08 PM - teknoprep: is the firmware locked or something ?
    Sep 3, 2016 4:25 PM - teknoprep: can the robo3d print faster than 50mm/sec ? if i setup a faster extruder ?
Sep 3, 2016 4:31 PM - danzca6: Yes you can upgrade to duals... Firmware is Marlin firmware and you can change it all you want. Print soured isn't always just base on extruder. Some other considerations might be needed for smoother linear motion
    Sep 3, 2016 4:32 PM - danzca6: Print Speed*
    Sep 3, 2016 4:37 PM - teknoprep: gotcha... thanks
Sep 3, 2016 4:37 PM - teknoprep: i'll see how fast i can extrude with this new extruder
Sep 3, 2016 4:37 PM - teknoprep: and print with quality
Sep 3, 2016 4:40 PM - teknoprep: what are the bearing types for the x carriage
    Sep 3, 2016 4:40 PM - teknoprep: nvm i found it - LM8UU
Sep 3, 2016 4:53 PM - danzca6: Where's Waldo did a thread in upgrading the x cartridge to use bronze bushings if you are interested
    Sep 3, 2016 5:00 PM - teknoprep: cool
    Sep 3, 2016 5:00 PM - teknoprep: i'll look for it
Sep 3, 2016 5:00 PM - teknoprep: i am really happy with the e3dv6 upgrade.. hoping the flexion upgrade will be just as good
Sep 3, 2016 5:14 PM - danzca6: You might be the first I know doing the flexion with the Robo... Interested to hear your thoughts
    Sep 3, 2016 5:16 PM - teknoprep: k00
Sep 3, 2016 5:40 PM - teknoprep: i am trying to get it to print around 150-200mm/sec
    Sep 3, 2016 5:40 PM - teknoprep: i know i can do 100m/sec now
    Sep 3, 2016 5:48 PM - danzca6: Sounds like an interesting challenge.
Sep 3, 2016 5:49 PM - danzca6: The Robo r2 should be close to that... Supposedly coming to kickstarter mid month
    Sep 3, 2016 6:30 PM - teknoprep: the new r2 is only 8x8x8
    Sep 3, 2016 6:30 PM - teknoprep: ugh
Sep 3, 2016 6:34 PM - danzca6: I remember the r2 mega was supposed to be an enclosed 36"cube or something. Crazy
Sep 3, 2016 6:39 PM - teknoprep: when is the r2 mega comming out ?
    Sep 3, 2016 6:40 PM - teknoprep: wow 1M^3
    Sep 3, 2016 6:41 PM - danzca6: It won't
    Sep 3, 2016 6:41 PM - danzca6: It was also going to be like $10k I think
Sep 3, 2016 6:48 PM - danzca6: Right now it is just the r2 and c2 (formerly the r2 mini). Why not the d2 makes no sense. Then they would have an r2 and a d2
    Sep 3, 2016 6:52 PM - teknoprep: lol
Sep 3, 2016 6:56 PM - Toro1966: Looks like I'm going to have to upgrade my extrude heater. I have some 40w ones, just haven't installed it. I noticed today while printing PETG that it wouldn't maintain temp. It was actually about 10 degrees down with both fans at 75%
    Sep 3, 2016 7:04 PM - danzca6: Yeah 40w is a good upgrade if you don't already have it
Sep 3, 2016 7:12 PM - Toro1966: Was surprised when I went in and the temp was 10 degrees lower than it was supposed to be. I'm just glad it was still extruding.
Sep 3, 2016 7:38 PM - Sonicjohnbh: Ok, so like ALL of the posts I find on these forums are about the R1, and I'm working with an R1+, can ANYONE tell me if 1: these special bowden hotends people keep mentioning are worth getting for a R1+ and 2: how much can I up the speed on it without modifications?
Sep 3, 2016 8:28 PM - Geof: What Bowden hotend? What are you currently printing at? Layer height? How important is the details? I also use an r1+ but haven't been stock in ages.

    Sep 3, 2016 11:54 PM - PeterkSharma: hello
    Sep 4, 2016 4:50 AM - danzca6: Toro, do a PID tune afterwards
Sep 4, 2016 4:53 AM - danzca6: Now Robo needs a new marketing director. That and the social networking position this week. Wonder if they can work remotely?
Sep 4, 2016 6:54 AM - Geof: Danzca that would be a fun job of it wasnt crazy pressure. Talk printers all day :)
    Sep 4, 2016 7:03 AM - danzca6: Right... Kind of what I do now for free ;)
Sep 4, 2016 8:00 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
Sep 4, 2016 4:16 PM - Toro1966: Hey guys - decided to upgrade to E3D V6 Hot end. Going to order tonight or tomorrow. I have read through the first few pages of the upgrade thread by Mike, but what I am looking for specifically if what parts do I need to print out prior to it getting here? To include parts fan holders?
    Sep 4, 2016 4:38 PM - danzca6: Search Thingiverse for the v6 quick release
Sep 4, 2016 4:39 PM - danzca6: There are all sorts of part fan holders and such on Thingiverse and the v6
Sep 4, 2016 4:40 PM - danzca6: I like the one maquis Johnson made that just snaps on and off
    Sep 4, 2016 4:48 PM - Toro1966: Thanks D. Do I need a new wades extruder?
Sep 4, 2016 4:53 PM - Bill Monroe: I put mine right in the same stock carriage.. dont think you have to print anything fancy, stock works as good as it gets.
Sep 4, 2016 5:11 PM - Toro1966: I already had to replace my stock one with another printed one because the captive nuts stripped out the holes
Sep 4, 2016 5:12 PM - Toro1966: Did you drill yours to let the e3d fit flush up in there?
Sep 4, 2016 5:14 PM - Toro1966: Also - not to ask a dumb question - but we have the direct drive version, not the bowden - correct?
Sep 4, 2016 6:02 PM - jim3Dbot: Hello Toro, installed a V6 about a year ago......drilled mine to set flush, apprensive at 1st....but drill slow, take your time....plastic drills fast.
Sep 4, 2016 6:03 PM - jim3Dbot: Get the teflon close as possible to the hobbed bolt
Sep 4, 2016 6:53 PM - danzca6: Toro, we have direct drive. Your existing wades should work fine with drilling for PTFE tube
Sep 4, 2016 7:45 PM - Toro1966: Thanks guys! I had a clog today so I removed nozzle and installed a new one. Bought a 5 pack on Amazon. They are supposed to be .4mm. But they look finer than that. I will say I just started printing and the first few layers are very smooth hoping that's the case vertically as well.
Sep 4, 2016 8:17 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Okay, NOW I am upset. I JUST finished making my Titan extruder carriage, got it all assembled and everything, and the STUPID lead screw hex bolt for the coupler is stripped.
    Sep 4, 2016 8:18 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Any suggestions?

Sep 5, 2016 at 5:32 AM - Toro1966: So apparently I either cross threaded the heater block to the heat brake when I reinstalled or something because I have a significant leak. It was printing over night and I just noticed this morning. Not going to stop the print because it's actually coming out very nicely. Hopefully the oozing doesn't drop down in the next couple of hours. First time I've had this ginormous blob instead of a hot end...
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:14 AM - Toro1966: When assembling a hot end, do you assemble the nozzle in first, or the heater block in the heat brake?
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:55 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
    Sep 5, 2016 at 7:24 AM - Toro1966: Morning Bill
Sep 5, 2016 at 7:30 AM - danzca6: Did you cold tighten everything or did you bring it up to temp for the final adjustment
    Sep 5, 2016 at 7:38 AM - Toro1966: I tightened everything while warm
Sep 5, 2016 at 7:39 AM - Toro1966: Pic coming. Not pretty. Still printing.
Sep 5, 2016 at 7:39 AM - Toro1966: Has about another 15 minutes. Didn't want to stop it while printing because it was already 10 hours in and print was looking good...
    Sep 5, 2016 at 7:40 AM - Toro1966: [IMG]
Sep 5, 2016 at 7:41 AM - Toro1966: What's the best way to clean all this gook off after it's done printing?
Sep 5, 2016 at 7:41 AM - Toro1966: I assum ejust keep it warm and pull it off with tweezers.
Sep 5, 2016 at 7:47 AM - danzca6: Oh.. that is not going to be fun
    Sep 5, 2016 at 7:47 AM - Toro1966: nope....
    Sep 5, 2016 at 7:48 AM - danzca6: You know a new hex is only $39
Sep 5, 2016 at 7:48 AM - Toro1966: I have an old hot end from the other Robo we have that I broke a set screw off (heat brake to hexagon), but other than that still is tight and works. So might just use that. We also have spare thermistors and heaters.
    Sep 5, 2016 at 7:48 AM - danzca6: Just saying
    Sep 5, 2016 at 7:48 AM - Toro1966: Going to upgrade to E3DV6
    Sep 5, 2016 at 7:49 AM - danzca6: Even better
Sep 5, 2016 at 7:49 AM - danzca6: I've seen people use torches and such and those end up even worse sometimes
Sep 5, 2016 at 7:50 AM - Toro1966: Might as well spend the 75 bucks and get the upgrade. I am also asking RObo for a new one under warranty. I screwed up the other one on the other RObo we have and I bought a new hot end. That said, this one, the heater block was loose when I went to take it apart, when I tried to tighten it, it tightened a little, and then loosened up again - telling me it was stripped. This had never been touched since receiving it new a month ago. So I am a
Sep 5, 2016 at 7:50 AM - danzca6: If you was to tackle it, keeping it at temp and OKlet's might be a good start
    Sep 5, 2016 at 7:51 AM - Toro1966: That's what I am thinking . Hey, I don't have anything else to do today :)
Sep 5, 2016 at 7:51 AM - Toro1966: I will say that the new nozzle prints SOOO much better than the old one - even when it was brand new.
Sep 5, 2016 at 7:51 AM - danzca6: Don't forget the beer... That makes it easier
    Sep 5, 2016 at 7:52 AM - Toro1966: Lol - plenty of that here!
Sep 5, 2016 at 7:52 AM - danzca6: Just got back yesterday from a brewery in Monroe WI.... It was a good time

    Sep 5, 2016 at 8:22 AM - Toro1966: thanks brother!
Sep 5, 2016 at 3:00 PM - WayUpNorthMN: SO how am I to get a stripped stepper coupler off?
Sep 5, 2016 at 4:52 PM - danzca6: Not sure about that... Can't say I've ever had to.
Sep 5, 2016 at 5:15 PM - Toro1966: What's the best place to get the E3DV6 from? Printed Solid or direct from E3D? How is shipping from both?
Sep 5, 2016 at 5:16 PM - danzca6: Get it from printed Solid
Sep 5, 2016 at 5:16 PM - danzca6: He has it on sale right now for labor day
    Sep 5, 2016 at 5:16 PM - danzca6: Free shipping
Sep 5, 2016 at 5:19 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Wow...K so I have been using the wrong hex key... *facedesk*
    Sep 5, 2016 at 5:19 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Instead of a 2.5mm, I was using a 2/32 hex...
    Sep 5, 2016 at 5:20 PM - danzca6: Doh!
Sep 5, 2016 at 5:20 PM - danzca6: So now it can come off?
Sep 5, 2016 at 5:21 PM - danzca6: Toro, up to 17% off right now and he'll send a free filament sample with order upon request
Sep 5, 2016 at 5:22 PM - danzca6: FREE samples of the colorFabb copolyesters available with any order; colorFabb NGEN, XT, and/or HT. Just state which one want to try and what diameter in your order comments. You can request a color and we'll send it if we have it.
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:04 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Danz, I must ask: on your Modular Titan Mount on Thingiverse, you state that the spacer is required for the E3d. I may be blind, but where is that to be located?
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:09 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Very well designed, I must add.
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:13 PM - danzca6: Which spacer? There is a spacer spacious to the hex and one for the e3d to go between the top of the hotend and filament guide on the Titan. There is a clip also needed for the e3d that clips under the mount prior to placing onto the x carriage.
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:14 PM - danzca6: Looks like pla might not be the best for that mount either. A user had issues with the heat from the stepper warping it
    Sep 5, 2016 at 6:14 PM - Toro1966: nice
    Sep 5, 2016 at 6:14 PM - Toro1966: thanks!
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:14 PM - danzca6: I still need to add a way to better manage the wiring on that
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:16 PM - Toro1966: WHere did you find the discount deal? and filament
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:16 PM - Toro1966: A moment ago - Toro1966: WHere did you find the discount deal? and filament
    Sep 5, 2016 at 6:16 PM - danzca6: Echo
    Sep 5, 2016 at 6:16 PM - danzca6: Emailed to me
    Sep 5, 2016 at 6:17 PM - WayUpNorthMN: http://thingiverse-production-new.s...8ec417a6f7ac317dcf2b370a_preview_featured.jpg
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:17 PM - WayUpNorthMN: That one
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:18 PM - danzca6: OK that's the clip that goes on the bottom of the mount once you put in the hotend and slide in the other third of the mount together
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:18 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Ah, so the whole extruder sits atop it?
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:20 PM - danzca6: Well the ridge of the mount is for the hex and the hex mounting groove is a bit smaller. So the clip makes up for that difference on the v6
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:20 PM - danzca6: Right it sits on top
    Sep 5, 2016 at 6:22 PM - danzca6: Look at image 7 and 8 on Thingiverse
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:22 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Gotcha. Just trying to figure things out. Just got done trying the mount by YogiG, which calls for a whole new x carriage to print. Failed miserably; the bearings decided to be off like half a mm and it hung up on the linear rods.
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:23 PM - danzca6: It shows the extruder for the v6 orientation and the bottom clip
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:24 PM - danzca6: Mine isn't perfect yet. If you try it and have any issues let me know. I can hopefully help if changes are needed
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:25 PM - danzca6: My goal was not to print a whole new carriage and to allow the Titan to work with both the stock HEX and the V6
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:26 PM - danzca6: Crap...I think I've gotten into poison ivy while working in the yard the other day... Not my week
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:26 PM - WayUpNorthMN: So for the hotend, I am to put it up into the x carriage, slide the mount forward into hotends ridge, then put the big clip on?
    Sep 5, 2016 at 6:26 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Yikes
    Sep 5, 2016 at 6:27 PM - danzca6: Yep to both
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:27 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I got tons of that stuff in my neighborhood right now... city needs to get off their lazy butt and clear it out lol
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:27 PM - WayUpNorthMN: (I live on a pond by the way)
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:28 PM - danzca6: Yeah my lazy butt is at fault for this
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:29 PM - WayUpNorthMN: We also got Mosquitoes REALLY bad right now
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:29 PM - danzca6: That is one thing we have had very little of this year
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:30 PM - danzca6: Not sure if the city sprayed or not
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:30 PM - danzca6: Or our bat population is healthy this year
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:32 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Poor Florida is getting the crap kicked out of it this year
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:33 PM - danzca6: Yeah my dad is up from fl right now... Loves not seeing them here
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:34 PM - Toro1966: Does the printed solid e3d kit come with the silicone sock?
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:34 PM - danzca6: For the mount, I found it might be easier to assemble with the mount rotated 90 degrees and then rotating it into position afterwards
    Sep 5, 2016 at 6:34 PM - danzca6: Yes it does
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:35 PM - danzca6: And the new cartridge thermistor
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:35 PM - danzca6: Though you can use the cartridge thermistor that comes on the r1+ if you have it
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:36 PM - danzca6: That way no firmware change needed

Sep 5, 2016 at 6:36 PM - Toro1966: Does it have the retaining screw for the thermistor like the r1s
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:38 PM - Toro1966: How is his shipping time?
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:38 PM - danzca6: Look at the pics from his site... It shows the new cartridge thermistor and the grub screw that secures it
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:39 PM - danzca6: Shipping is quick. Probably get it in a couple days.. At least I do in IL when I order from him
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:40 PM - Toro1966: Excellent. Thanks! I'll probably pick up a hardened nozzle as well. Any benefit in getting other nozzle sizes?
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:44 PM - danzca6: Larger size is good for things like wood filaments and faster prints. Smaller, like. 25 gives great details on x and y faces but slower prints
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:45 PM - danzca6: The fun pack is a good deal if you want to play with sizes
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:46 PM - danzca6: Although that is only in brass
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:50 PM - danzca6: Sounds like PS might be out of stock on the v6 silicone boots, but I think that is for buying separately and not with the v6. He was on earlier and I should have asked him.
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:52 PM - WayUpNorthMN: So how long of bowden tube do you recommend
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:54 PM - danzca6: For the Titan going into the filament guide?
    Sep 5, 2016 at 6:55 PM - WayUpNorthMN: yes
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:57 PM - danzca6: 16mm from the top of the heatsink is called out for regular install. I would add the v6 spacer for my mount that goes on top of the hotend and then measure 16mm
Sep 5, 2016 at 6:59 PM - danzca6: Just put the PTFE into the hotend until it hits the heatbreak, slide my v6 spacer over the PTFE, then measure from the top of that 16mm
Sep 5, 2016 at 7:00 PM - danzca6: Don't forget to use an inch or so to slide into the top lever of the Titan for 1.75 filament like called out in the e3d Titan assembly guide
Sep 5, 2016 at 7:25 PM - WayUpNorthMN: This is impossible to hold everything together while you screw it into place
    Sep 5, 2016 at 7:30 PM - danzca6: Really, the Titan?
Sep 5, 2016 at 7:37 PM - WayUpNorthMN: So am I to buy different screws for mounting this? It clearly goes up into the motor
Sep 5, 2016 at 7:38 PM - WayUpNorthMN: So am I to buy different screws for mounting this? It clearly goes up into the motor
    Sep 5, 2016 at 7:38 PM - danzca6: yes
Sep 5, 2016 at 7:39 PM - danzca6: look under extra things needed on my thingiverse page
Sep 5, 2016 at 7:43 PM - danzca6: man is this site going flaky for anyone else tonight?
Sep 5, 2016 at 7:56 PM - WayUpNorthMN: sure is
Sep 5, 2016 at 7:58 PM - danzca6: I thought they were doing an update for a moment
Sep 5, 2016 at 8:34 PM - danzca6: Man, robo has another job opening for director of educational sales...they are ramping up. This is the 3rd posting this week.

Sep 5, 2016 9:05 PM - WayUpNorthMN: So Danz, what have you done to set the extruder up after installation in terms of steps per mm and other things? I have never modded a printer like this lol
    Sep 6, 2016 2:19 AM - danzca6: http://wiki.e3d-online.com/wiki/Titan_Assembly#Firmware_Calibration
    Sep 6, 2016 2:20 AM - danzca6: Then do an extruder calibration
    Sep 6, 2016 2:22 AM - danzca6:
Sep 6, 2016 4:54 AM - teknoprep: hi all... anyone work for robo3d that can tell me where my order for my bed replacement is --> Order #100197320
Sep 6, 2016 4:57 AM - danzca6: No one here works for Robo. Except for Harry, but he is rarely on. Best to call or email them
    Sep 6, 2016 5:50 AM - teknoprep: hey for those using e3d v6... i upgraded this a bit --> http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1752364
Sep 6, 2016 6:09 AM - teknoprep: waiting on my flexion extruder today
Sep 6, 2016 6:10 AM - teknoprep: everything is built and ready to go... once i get it i'll take pics and upload... should be a bad ass upgrade
Sep 6, 2016 7:54 AM - David Howarth: anyone notice Robo extended the "limited time" refurb sale?
Sep 6, 2016 9:00 AM - danzca6: Nice...with them supposidly starting the kickstarter campaign for the R2 and C2 in a week, I can see they want to dump as much supply as possible
Sep 6, 2016 9:01 AM - danzca6: Great deal for those looking for a printer
Sep 6, 2016 9:28 AM - daniel871: Is it really extended or did they just forget to end it?
    Sep 6, 2016 9:28 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
    Sep 6, 2016 9:30 AM - danzca6: good point
Sep 6, 2016 9:30 AM - danzca6: that might just be the new price for refurbs
Sep 6, 2016 11:07 AM - David Howarth: yeah, but the countdown timer that was there previously definitely added pressure
    Sep 6, 2016 11:17 AM - daniel871: Maybe if you didn't know better.
    Sep 6, 2016 11:19 AM - daniel871: http://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/w...by-courtroom/story-29678588-detail/story.html
Sep 6, 2016 11:24 AM - daniel871: Also, I bet this actually happens on a really regular basis and nobody hears about it very much. [IMG]

Sep 6, 2016 3:18 PM - Toro1966: OK - I am about at my last damn nerve with this bed leveling - or should I say - lack therof!
Sep 6, 2016 3:19 PM - Toro1966: Had everything set - or so I thought. Adjusted the switches, etc. Was working like a champ for several days. Now it's doing the same crap again. One side looks good, the other pushing filament into the plate...
Sep 6, 2016 3:24 PM - Toro1966: I am tired of spending two hours leveling it every time I want to print...
Sep 6, 2016 3:25 PM - jim3Dbot: Just poppin' Toro, the z side thats smashing the filiment sounds like its slipping down...I'm sure you chk'ed all z screws, but......
Sep 6, 2016 3:25 PM - jim3Dbot: its moving more than the other z rod..
Sep 6, 2016 3:26 PM - Toro1966: That's what I thouhgt too Jim. I cranked down on the switch clamp pretty good when I adjusted it though.
Sep 6, 2016 3:27 PM - jim3Dbot: I am sure you did that......that side is dropping tho........where? who the hell knows...its not the ramps or firmware........sorry...
Sep 6, 2016 3:27 PM - Toro1966: I am going to check it again after this print. I finally got it to print evenly by doing the paper adjustment again. That said, the whole reason I went through the hassle of adjusting that the last time and moving the switches was so I could be done with it...I'll get over it. Just frustrating!
    Sep 6, 2016 3:28 PM - Toro1966: I am sure you're right Jim.
Sep 6, 2016 3:29 PM - Toro1966: Appreciate the recommendation. I'll check that tonight. Ordering my E3DV6 tonight so I might just wait until that comes in since everything has to come apart for the install anyway :)
    Sep 6, 2016 3:29 PM - jim3Dbot: 3d printing is so much not plug & play........it developes character......well maybe Mr Hyde..
Sep 6, 2016 3:30 PM - Toro1966: Lol - Ain't that the truth! I think I would get bored if it was plug and play...well maybe not...
    Sep 6, 2016 3:30 PM - jim3Dbot: I gotta go to the storage shed...good luck toro........
    Sep 6, 2016 3:33 PM - Toro1966: Thanks!
Sep 6, 2016 4:07 PM - Toro1966: Quick question - I noticed that when the printer is printing and doing the back and forth fill routine - sometimes it stops and goes tot he other end and starts filling from there and they meet in the middle. That's not an issue - I understand why it does that. That said, I also notice that where it meets is not smooth. In other words, it's as if it went over that last line where they meet twice or something - if that makes sense.
Sep 6, 2016 4:07 PM - danzca6: Toro, have you checked both stepper motor drivers on the RAMPS to see if they are setup to push the same current? I have suspicions with the new setup of independent drivers for the z axis
    Sep 6, 2016 4:08 PM - danzca6: yep I've seen that as well toro
    Sep 6, 2016 4:08 PM - Toro1966: No I haven't, should they be the same?
Sep 6, 2016 4:09 PM - Toro1966: Is that normal - the part where they meet in the middle?
Sep 6, 2016 4:09 PM - Toro1966: Is it filament dependent? I ask because I printed yesterday and the layers were flawless - very smooth.
Sep 6, 2016 4:09 PM - danzca6: the two z drivers should be as dead on as possible IMHO
Sep 6, 2016 4:10 PM - danzca6: I'm not 100% sure what all causes the lip in the middle
Sep 6, 2016 4:10 PM - Toro1966: So should I go through the calibration routine for the steppers?
Sep 6, 2016 4:11 PM - danzca6: I would just check each of them with you multi meter and see where you are at
Sep 6, 2016 4:11 PM - Toro1966: But it's not abnormal for that lip in the middle?
    Sep 6, 2016 4:11 PM - Toro1966: Will definitely check the steppers
    Sep 6, 2016 4:11 PM - danzca6: I don't think the lip should be there no
Sep 6, 2016 4:12 PM - Toro1966: I agree, been doing almost the whole time I've had the printer though
Sep 6, 2016 4:12 PM - danzca6: my theory is if one stepper is getting more juice than the other it might turn faster or smoother and causing the gradual inbalance
Sep 6, 2016 4:12 PM - Toro1966: Have you had that hapen to you?
    Sep 6, 2016 4:12 PM - danzca6: no, not all the time
Sep 6, 2016 4:12 PM - Toro1966: Your theory is sound. Going to definitely check them.
    Sep 6, 2016 4:12 PM - Toro1966: Hmmm. Wonder what's causing it.
Sep 6, 2016 4:13 PM - danzca6: not sure if it is the model sometimes
    Sep 6, 2016 4:13 PM - danzca6: or if it is mechanical
    Sep 6, 2016 4:13 PM - danzca6: not consistent
Sep 6, 2016 4:14 PM - Toro1966: Good question. Wonder if it could be a nozzle partially clogged.
Sep 6, 2016 4:16 PM - danzca6: speaking of nozzles....did you get your big ol plastic snot rocket off of your nozzle yesterday?
    Sep 6, 2016 4:16 PM - Toro1966: [IMG]
Sep 6, 2016 4:16 PM - Toro1966: I did - it actually came off pretty easily, but hotend is toast.
Sep 6, 2016 4:17 PM - Toro1966: Still nice and red with plastic, but all of the blobs came off. Used another one we had from another Robo. It leaks a little - but not so bad I can't use it. I just have to pop a dollop of ooze of every couple of hours. Planning to order the E3D tonight.
    Sep 6, 2016 4:17 PM - Toro1966: Fell asleep last night :)
Sep 6, 2016 4:18 PM - danzca6: haha...you know looking at your print I wonder if the line going opposite the grain is from a nozzle drag
Sep 6, 2016 4:19 PM - danzca6: the laugh was for you falling asleep, not your issue
Sep 6, 2016 4:19 PM - Toro1966: Nope - that's the previous layer. No scarring at all. You can just see the slightly raised from the layer beneath
    Sep 6, 2016 4:20 PM - Toro1966: That's why it makes kind of an x
    Sep 6, 2016 4:20 PM - Toro1966: two directions in two layers.
Sep 6, 2016 4:21 PM - danzca6: is this on your leaky nozzle?
Sep 6, 2016 4:27 PM - Toro1966: Technically - yes - since they both leak. But this on the one that barely leaks.
    Sep 6, 2016 4:28 PM - Toro1966: Think I might make a post and see what answers I get
Sep 6, 2016 4:29 PM - danzca6: well...I think the leak might be a variable to your issue...maybe when the v6 comes in it will fix it
Sep 6, 2016 4:34 PM - Toro1966: Possibly - but I doubt the leak is the cause of the lines. It's been doing that since day one when there was no leak...
    Sep 6, 2016 5:39 PM - danzca6: http://www.3ders.org/articles/20160...ts-kickstarter-starting-at-an-incredible.html
    Sep 6, 2016 5:40 PM - danzca6: $199...crazy...linear rails...very cool
    Sep 6, 2016 5:57 PM - Toro1966: Ok - ordered the E3D!
    Sep 6, 2016 5:57 PM - Toro1966: Guess I have a project for this weekend now.
    Sep 6, 2016 5:58 PM - danzca6: <hi-5>
Sep 6, 2016 6:01 PM - Toro1966: Assuming it gets here by then
Sep 6, 2016 6:03 PM - Bill Monroe: can someone tell me where the Valet desk is?
Sep 6, 2016 6:03 PM - Toro1966: Still need to find a good dual fan mount for the E3D/Robo setup.
Sep 6, 2016 6:10 PM - danzca6: Bill...haha...just around the corner to your left buddy
Sep 6, 2016 6:11 PM - Bill Monroe: <mumbling>... they better not scratch my fender again....
    Sep 6, 2016 6:11 PM - danzca6: man, it just buffs out
Sep 6, 2016 6:12 PM - danzca6: or just cover it with a Trump sticker
    Sep 6, 2016 6:12 PM - danzca6: Toro...how about this...http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:697200
    Sep 6, 2016 6:24 PM - Geof: Danzca what's happening buddy
    Sep 6, 2016 6:31 PM - Mike Glass: yo
    Sep 6, 2016 6:32 PM - Geof: Hey mike
    Sep 6, 2016 6:32 PM - Mike Glass: Howdy
Sep 6, 2016 6:32 PM - Geof: How goes things
Sep 6, 2016 6:33 PM - Mike Glass: Well, very busy, dont get here much anymore.
Sep 6, 2016 6:35 PM - Geof: I hear ya man. Life gets busy for sure
Sep 6, 2016 6:35 PM - Mike Glass: Yea, damn laser keeps me busy, but its fun at least.
    Sep 6, 2016 6:35 PM - Geof: I'd bet so!
Sep 6, 2016 6:37 PM - Mike Glass: But still use my robo everyday to build parts for laser and arduino projects.
    Sep 6, 2016 6:39 PM - Bill Monroe: MG
Sep 6, 2016 6:39 PM - Mike Glass: Hey Bill
Sep 6, 2016 6:41 PM - Geof: Robo is just a beast man. Glad to hear yours is still going strong
Sep 6, 2016 6:42 PM - Mike Glass: yea, and still stock..I have all the parts to modify it just too busy..lol

Sep 7, 2016 5:46 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
Sep 7, 2016 5:57 AM - nonmindo: sooo i havent printed in a while, went oto launch MC and it wont launch....tried uninstalling and re-installing, no dice anyone know of any known issues? It's been long enough that i forgot all my settings and would like to try and save it
Sep 7, 2016 6:04 AM - Bill Monroe: i never installed matter control, even when the robo was new
Sep 7, 2016 6:40 AM - Bill Monroe: On a beast scale of 1 to Stratasys, I'd place the Robo at 3.5
Sep 7, 2016 6:46 AM - daniel871: What? You used to say the only slicer you used for the Robo was MatterControl.
    Sep 7, 2016 6:55 AM - danzca6: I've only heard Bill talk about using S3D
    Sep 7, 2016 7:07 AM - JeffTheMess: morning roboneers
Sep 7, 2016 7:11 AM - daniel871: This was before the Shoutbox Archive reset I think. But yeah, now that I'm thinking about it more I do remember Bill complaining about how MatterControl would manage to crash a high-end PC that much more powerful software ran on with no issues.
    Sep 7, 2016 7:18 AM - daniel871: Hm.
Sep 7, 2016 7:20 AM - JeffTheMess: who uses mattercontrol anymore
Sep 7, 2016 7:49 AM - daniel871: People that just bought the Robo3D printer and didn't do any research into slicers.
Sep 7, 2016 7:51 AM - JeffTheMess: they should not own a printer if they didnt do any research to begin with
Sep 7, 2016 8:05 AM - daniel871: Oh wait, no, this is the kind of person that uses MatterControl:
Sep 7, 2016 8:05 AM - daniel871: Watch the whole thing for when she starts doing a chicken imitation.
    Sep 7, 2016 8:08 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
    Sep 7, 2016 8:11 AM - daniel871: Also, in which a blonde walks into a clothing store http://i.imgur.com/ixeYgrH.gifv
Sep 7, 2016 8:12 AM - JeffTheMess: lmao dat chicken tho
Sep 7, 2016 9:19 AM - daniel871: Rostock Max V3 is up for sale today.
    Sep 7, 2016 10:11 AM - daniel871:
Sep 7, 2016 10:21 AM - Toro1966: I have to say that I think Matter Control is perfect for it's targeted audience. I actually really enjoy the simplicity and it will generally give you decent prints. That said, it will not give you GREAT prints, and the users manual wiki - stinks. Both of those reasons are why I went with S3D, but I didn't hate MC.
Sep 7, 2016 11:21 AM - Kevin Nguyen: Printer having problems again. New e3d head with screw in thermistor. Start warming up fine but once the printer does 9 point check the temp falls from 235 to 227 sometimes i just get print temp fall error on the lcd. Anyone know whats up?
Sep 7, 2016 11:23 AM - Toro1966: check connections. Both at where the thgermistor connects to the harness at the top of the extruder assembly, and also underneath the machine.
Sep 7, 2016 11:24 AM - Kevin Nguyen: Okay should i check for resistance in the wire?
Sep 7, 2016 11:25 AM - Toro1966: You can check for connectivity in the wires, but they still might be a loose connection. If you are talking about measuring thermistor resistance, in theory you can tell if they are bad, but my experience is completely the opposite. I have had two brand new ones read low and they were perfectly fine.
Sep 7, 2016 11:27 AM - Kevin Nguyen: Yeah i meant continuity. Ill have a look after i get back from my interview
Sep 7, 2016 11:28 AM - JeffTheMess: how fast is your parts fan spinning?
Sep 7, 2016 12:12 PM - Toro1966: Getting ready to upgrade to E3D. Is the fan connector for the ramps the same as the stock fan? I know the fan is different, but I am trying to use the same wire as the stock fan so I can always switch back to the stock hexagon if I want.
Sep 7, 2016 12:28 PM - danzca6: the wiring should be interchangeable between the fans
Sep 7, 2016 12:29 PM - danzca6: If not you could always just switch out the wire connector or the full wires from the e3d fan
Sep 7, 2016 12:33 PM - danzca6: the fan itself is 30mm on the e3d compared to the 25mm on the stock hex fan block. you could print a new fan block for the 30mm fan and then you just use the one fan for both
    Sep 7, 2016 1:12 PM - Toro1966: Excellent - thanks D. That's what I'll do - print a new 30mm for the stock.
Sep 7, 2016 1:19 PM - danzca6: whereswaldo has the design for that on Thingiverse if you don't already have the stl for it
Sep 7, 2016 1:31 PM - Toro1966: Thanks. Definitely going to download that.
Sep 7, 2016 1:48 PM - daniel871: Just got an email from Robo3D about trying to hype their C2 kickstarter, asking for my cell number so they can text updates.
    Sep 7, 2016 1:48 PM - daniel871: Are they insane?
Sep 7, 2016 1:49 PM - daniel871: 1) Why would a supposedly successful company like Robo3D need a kickstarter for their next printer iteration? Isn't that against the kickstarter TOS or did that change?
Sep 7, 2016 1:50 PM - daniel871: And 2) Who the fuck would be dumb enough to give their cell phone number to a marketing form on an unsecured website?

Sep 8, 2016 at 4:00 AM - JeffTheMess: goood morning robonauts
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:01 AM - JeffTheMess: I got the email too the fact they need a kickstarter AGAIN says something about robo
    Sep 8, 2016 at 4:15 AM - NFOsec: What a mess Jeff. :)
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:16 AM - NFOsec: Actually, I'm REALLY disappointed at the stupidity of that email -- no video, mages, anything to tell existing Robo loyal customers as to what they have done. They're targeting new folks first which is why the Kickstarter comes in (not to mention, some of thje best fundraising does come from Kickstarter).
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:25 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, but seem kind low for a "successful" kickstarter in the first place
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:28 AM - NFOsec: What is low?
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:31 AM - JeffTheMess: low in ethics i guess
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:32 AM - NFOsec: Oh, yeah, that kind of low, I agree. Just not right.
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:34 AM - NFOsec: that image doesn't do justice either, but they're clearly protecting the hotend and extrusion details as well as drive mechanisms. Opening the sides for easy access, etc. is somewhat ideal, but I'm willing to bet this is a sub 8"x8"x6" type model.
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:35 AM - JeffTheMess: when does it start the kickstarter? I am very eager to see how it goes
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:40 AM - NFOsec: They didn't say, just a matter of being "notified" when it starts. Maybe it's another R2 campaign and might surface 2-3 years later.
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:43 AM - NFOsec: At minimum, hopefully they included an E3Dv6 hot end assembly and a Bondtech extrusion system.
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:44 AM - JeffTheMess: Let's not get our hopes too high :)
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:45 AM - NFOsec: yeah, I know. But since installing both of those back in October 2015, I've been 100% clog free, no stripping, jamming, etc.
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:46 AM - NFOsec: Mind you I bought my R1++ in August 2015 for September delivery, it was within 6 weeks I replaced both of those things.
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:46 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah I hear bondtech works wonders
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:46 AM - NFOsec: I had problems with the v1.0 of Jimbot's auto-level sensor, so I did without it.
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:47 AM - NFOsec: I had given away an extra of the Q2 version I had to another Robo guy, but I don't think anything I did was reciprocated as much as I would have hoped, so not much talk there.
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:47 AM - NFOsec: Martin is a good guy too.
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:49 AM - JeffTheMess: have you done mesh auto level?
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:50 AM - NFOsec: no Sir.
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:51 AM - NFOsec: I wouldn't know what that is. JimBot sent me a v1.0 of the IR leveling thing, I printed mounts, hooked up, did not have as much success as I did doing straight printing leveling.
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:52 AM - JeffTheMess: ah okay never thought the ir level would really work
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:53 AM - NFOsec: Well, v2.0 supposedly did, but reflection and printing of the "R" on the bed caused some problems. What's the mesh leveling?
    Sep 8, 2016 at 4:53 AM - JeffTheMess: wouldn't work*
Sep 8, 2016 at 4:54 AM - JeffTheMess: its part of the newest marlin update, wish daniel was on I think he knows more about it than I do
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:05 AM - NFOsec: Yeah, he'll be back later. I'll have to ask, but at the same time, I would hate to break what isn't broken. I did get the new silcone boot and cylinder hot end stuff from E3Dv6 last week. Very nice and certainly helps with keeping things clean.
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:10 AM - JeffTheMess: really? haven't heard of that
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:12 AM - NFOsec: Look on the E3Dv6 website or printedsolid's website, I think he mentions selling it now.
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:12 AM - NFOsec: The heat block never gets impacted with filament burns, etc. better design basically.
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:14 AM - JeffTheMess: looks pretty
    Sep 8, 2016 at 5:22 AM - NFOsec: yeah, it's nice.
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:24 AM - daniel871: Which daniel? Because I can tell you that the Mesh Bed Leveling version of the firmware that Where's Waldo has been keeping going was pretty much the best thing for the Robo when mine still worked.
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:25 AM - daniel871: Perfect first layers every print after running it once. It's just a shame the quality of the printer components were so bad that the entire thing failed.
    Sep 8, 2016 at 5:26 AM - JeffTheMess: you
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:26 AM - daniel871: Can't say much about it with my current printer because it has manual bed tramming screws and hard/set homing points for all 3 axes.
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:26 AM - daniel871: (I've only had to tram it once and it's basically been perfectly level for every print for months now).
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:26 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:28 AM - daniel871: I might actually have a delta printer in the early part of next month off of that kickstarter campaign from earlier this year. They've updated that the bureaucracy of registering a company in Luxembourg finally finished a couple weeks ago and they've been posting videos/etc. of incoming parts and test assemblies/etc.
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:30 AM - daniel871: I'm not entirely happy with some of the design decisions they've made when teasing people about testing things like a 32-bit Due/RADDS stepper control board combination instead of the usual 8-bit Mega/Ramps combo (they claim they noticed no appreciable printing difference in the models they printed, with side-by-side photos, but still).
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:32 AM - JeffTheMess: why use 8 bit mega? won;t you get higher res and accuracy
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:33 AM - daniel871: You would, but they were using the typical calibration shape prints for comparison instead of complex models.
    Sep 8, 2016 at 5:33 AM - daniel871: And comparing hardware costs.
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:34 AM - daniel871: They also had some lines in there about not wanting to completely rewrite/optimize the firmware for the 32-bit controller.
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:35 AM - daniel871: Which doesn't make much sense to me on the face of it, but whatever.
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:35 AM - daniel871: A $600 delta that's got a 220mm diameter by 440mm height build area can easily be upgraded later on the control side of it.
    Sep 8, 2016 at 5:35 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:39 AM - daniel871: They've opened up their shop since the company is registered, but the prices aren't quite like what they were for the kickstarter. http://www.emergin.net/shop/3d-printers/
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:40 AM - NFOsec: Daniel: I'd need to look at more on the mesh thing, is it only a firmware update?
    Sep 8, 2016 at 5:41 AM - daniel871: Yep.
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: gents
    Sep 8, 2016 at 5:45 AM - daniel871: NFO, here you go: Marlin Firmware Upgrade 1.1.0 Release Candidate 7 (For R1 & R1+PLUS)
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:45 AM - daniel871: That post has a write-up about the two flavors. One is the ABL version and the other is the Mesh Bed Leveling version.
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:46 AM - JeffTheMess: morning Bill
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:46 AM - daniel871: Well, that post and the post immediately after it.
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:47 AM - Bill Monroe: hey Jeff
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:47 AM - JeffTheMess: hows the cnc
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:47 AM - Bill Monroe: fantastic
    Sep 8, 2016 at 5:47 AM - JeffTheMess: awesome
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:47 AM - Bill Monroe: in the middle of making new X carriages for my dual.. out of titanium :)
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:48 AM - JeffTheMess: oh pretty strong
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:48 AM - Bill Monroe: well ya, but mass reduction is the goal
    Sep 8, 2016 at 5:50 AM - JeffTheMess: ofcourse
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:54 AM - Bill Monroe: i need to find someone expereinced with programming for camera images
    Sep 8, 2016 at 5:55 AM - JeffTheMess: for?
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:55 AM - Bill Monroe: ok.. imagine this...
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:56 AM - Bill Monroe: you have a horizontal 6" x 6" table, made from white plastic, backlit from the bottom
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:56 AM - Bill Monroe: now put some BBs on it
    Sep 8, 2016 at 5:57 AM - JeffTheMess: ok
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:57 AM - Bill Monroe: I want to be able to determine where the BBs are, with an inexpensive stationary camera looking down at it
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:58 AM - JeffTheMess: don't they have that kind already? with diy sentry guns that can kind spot those things?
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:58 AM - JeffTheMess: i;m sure there is something for that already
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:58 AM - Bill Monroe: keyword: inexpensive
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:59 AM - Bill Monroe: the DIY stuff is junk.. this has to be robust and reliable.. never, ever fail
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:00 AM - JeffTheMess: I did a sentry setup of less than 50 bucks cheapo camera and an arduino
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:00 AM - JeffTheMess: ahh okay
    Sep 8, 2016 at 6:00 AM - Bill Monroe: big-boy engineering :)
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:00 AM - Bill Monroe: what do you mean :sentry setup" ?
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:01 AM - daniel871: Building something for a Battlebot-like competition? Or is that just an unintended connotation to the word "sentry"?
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: no danny.. it's not a toy
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:01 AM - daniel871: There's actually a surprising amount of money and sponsorships tied up in that, Bill.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:02 AM - JeffTheMess: high end cnc
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:02 AM - Bill Monroe: im not surprised.. geeks and nerds are everywhere
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:02 AM - JeffTheMess: a shit ton of money
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:02 AM - Bill Monroe: and I'm not sorting BBS :)
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:03 AM - daniel871: I got a laugh out of each of the big CAD/CAM companies having sponsorships for the robots that had more advanced weapon systems tearing each other to bits.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:03 AM - Bill Monroe: it's for a medical device.. NDA'd ... the BB anology is close
    Sep 8, 2016 at 6:03 AM - daniel871: Pill sorting.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:04 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, that's it.. you go with that
    Sep 8, 2016 at 6:05 AM - JeffTheMess: lol
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:05 AM - NFOsec: Thanks Daniel, so the ABL wasn't what folks were doing but rather mesh bed leveling?
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:06 AM - Bill Monroe: "never attempt to improve weak hardware design with software"
    Sep 8, 2016 at 6:06 AM - NFOsec: LOL.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:06 AM - NFOsec: true enough.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:06 AM - daniel871: Yeah, the ABL tries to create an averaged plane to follow, while the mesh bed leveling samples the actual bed and plots the curvature of it.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:06 AM - JeffTheMess: your in the wrong printer buddy
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:07 AM - daniel871: There are limits to each method, like if the bed is really in that bad of shape there's no way to get decent prints on it, but the MBL is better at sub-millimeter variations that can mess up your .1mm first layer height runs.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:08 AM - daniel871: Where the ABL can miss a high/thick spot that will regularly cause a jam as the "averaged" plane falls below it.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:11 AM - JeffTheMess: are you going to install it nfo
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:13 AM - daniel871: It's a little tedious to run, but only having to run it once and then never having to mess with it unless you change the bed plate is nice.

Sep 8, 2016 at 6:19 AM - NFOsec: I really don't know yet, as I mentioned previously, I have great leveling today, so I'm almost in the if it isn't broke, don't attempt to fix it mindset.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:19 AM - NFOsec: but I bookmarked it for consideration later.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:19 AM - NFOsec: Bill, so what kind of programming are you talking about.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:22 AM - Bill Monroe: umm well ability to process an image from a relatively low-res camera
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:22 AM - Bill Monroe: tell me where on that table the BBs are
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:26 AM - daniel871: Careful, you may end up with the nightmare generator that Google got when they came up with the Deep Dream system.

    Sep 8, 2016 at 6:28 AM - daniel871: Eyeballs and dogs, rather.
    Sep 8, 2016 at 6:29 AM - Schlomo: Morning Ya'll
    Sep 8, 2016 at 6:30 AM - NFOsec: gotcha.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:30 AM - NFOsec: so you want to make yourself a Glowforge. LOL.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:30 AM - JeffTheMess: morning schlomo
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:31 AM - Schlomo: Are there any nylons that dont require heavy de-moisturizing?
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:31 AM - Bill Monroe: uh, no.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:31 AM - Bill Monroe: i dont think nylon hosiery requires de humidifying
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:32 AM - NFOsec: Schlomo - Leggs makes a good brand. LOL I have the Taulman series of Nylons and haven't had any real problems with moistures.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:32 AM - NFOsec: LOL Bill -- eye to eye brother!
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:32 AM - Schlomo: Hmm.. I tried bridge and it was a mess
    Sep 8, 2016 at 6:32 AM - Bill Monroe: <-- faster blink
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:32 AM - daniel871: The trick to Nylons is not to open them until you're ready to print the entire spool, I think.
    Sep 8, 2016 at 6:32 AM - NFOsec: bridge isn't the ideal, 618. 910 would be better.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:32 AM - daniel871: Maybe Nylon 230 depending on what you want to do.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:33 AM - Schlomo: Blah im too impatient to wait for the damn roll to dry
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:33 AM - NFOsec: well, I have been using super-large zip-lock bags (heavy duty clothing storage kind), and if you have lots of silica or even a heating source for hose attach drying you can't go wrong.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:34 AM - daniel871: Just get a gigantic dehumidifier and run the drain hose to the sewer.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:34 AM - daniel871: And seal the room off whenever you leave it.

Sep 8, 2016 at 6:35 AM - NFOsec: Taulman had a great page on creating a very simple drying system.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:36 AM - JeffTheMess: oh Gosh
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:36 AM - NFOsec: that reminds me of the spam, egg, hamburger, bacon, etc. burger.

    Sep 8, 2016 at 6:36 AM - daniel871: That page, NFOsec?
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:38 AM - NFOsec: that seems to be the cache of the original system, yeah.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:43 AM - daniel871: The original system page is gone.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:43 AM - daniel871: Anyway, here, I've been chuckling at these for the last couple minutes. http://imgur.com/gallery/YoL4F

Sep 8, 2016 at 8:40 AM - daniel871: If it is I'd say there aren't enough of them in the slicer settings.
Sep 8, 2016 at 8:41 AM - daniel871: Same thing if it's the bottom layer, too.

    Sep 8, 2016 at 11:43 AM - teknoprep: with an e3d v6 hotend
    Sep 8, 2016 at 11:43 AM - teknoprep: i'll post once done
    Sep 8, 2016 at 11:48 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
Sep 8, 2016 at 11:53 AM - daniel871: I thought the Flexion was designed specifically for interfacing with MK10-style hotends.

Sep 8, 2016 at 12:01 PM - teknoprep: printing at 7000mm/sec is working great so far
Sep 8, 2016 at 12:01 PM - teknoprep: hopefully with this upgrade i'll hit 12000mm/minute lol not sec
Sep 8, 2016 at 12:02 PM - JeffTheMess: I would say patent that
Sep 8, 2016 at 12:04 PM - teknoprep: lol why?
Sep 8, 2016 at 12:04 PM - teknoprep: i am a fan of open source
    Sep 8, 2016 at 12:04 PM - JeffTheMess: if it was 7000mm/sec
Sep 8, 2016 at 12:05 PM - teknoprep: oh lol

Sep 8, 2016 at 1:14 PM - teknoprep: what is the belt type for the y axis ?

Sep 8, 2016 at 2:22 PM - teknoprep: is there a way to reverse the x-axis without rewiring it ?
Sep 8, 2016 at 2:22 PM - teknoprep: software wise
    Sep 8, 2016 at 2:26 PM - teknoprep: i reversed the wires
Sep 8, 2016 at 2:26 PM - teknoprep: skrew it..
Sep 8, 2016 at 2:45 PM - teknoprep: this extruder is really nice upgrade
Sep 8, 2016 at 2:47 PM - daniel871: Yeah, you would go into the firmware and change it but for the effort that takes it would probably be easier to just reverse the plug on the control board.
    Sep 8, 2016 at 2:54 PM - teknoprep: i was accidentally changing y not x
Sep 8, 2016 at 5:58 PM - Toro1966: Gripe for the evening - it would be nice if - for $150 - S3D was actually remotely good at estimating time to print!
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:08 PM - Toro1966: Does anyone have an FFF for S3D for a temp calibration tower? I can find the file on thingiverse, but have no idea how to step it up appropriately.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:12 PM - danzca6: wouldn't you just setup multiple processes and change the temp for each process and the process is applied to a set of layers each
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:29 PM - daniel871: In S3D you can set Temps at given layer numbers.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:30 PM - daniel871: And S3D would have to know the accel/jerk settings for your printer to estimate print times reliably.
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:54 PM - danzca6: thanks daniel...I was just guessing about what to do in S3D
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:57 PM - Bill Monroe: gents
Sep 8, 2016 at 6:58 PM - Toro1966: It's not that I'm lazy, but why re-invent the wheel. i can't be the only one with S3D that's printed a temp tower. So I am hoping someone has the process (s) for it.
    Sep 8, 2016 at 6:59 PM - daniel871: I've never bothered with a temp tower because printing Temps are a pass/fail setting.
Sep 8, 2016 at 7:01 PM - daniel871: Print at the lowest temp you can without jams/clogs, then post-process if needed.
Sep 8, 2016 at 7:02 PM - Toro1966: From the pics I've seen, I've seen drastically different quality between temps. I am retentive. My pritns look pretty good most of the time, but I am looking to make them great,
Sep 8, 2016 at 7:03 PM - Toro1966: I would much rather improve the printing than have to do a lot of work on the item after printing.
Sep 8, 2016 at 7:03 PM - Toro1966: I completely realize there will always be some work to do on them, but I try an dminimize it.

Sep 9, 2016 3:12 AM - daniel871: Most quality issues have more to do with printing speed than temperature.

    Sep 9, 2016 1:28 PM - danzca6: I don't think I want my 3D Technologies to be Limited...

Sep 9, 2016 5:12 PM - Toro1966: Thanks D. I am sure Matt will make it right, just frustrated that I'd didn't get now like I should of.
Sep 9, 2016 5:14 PM - danzca6: Did you at least get your gummies
Sep 9, 2016 5:14 PM - Toro1966: I know asked before, but there is no reason I can't wire the new stuff to the existing wires in the loom - correct? I plan on splicing in the right just for the thermistor and fan and I intend to use a 40 watt heater cartridge I bought from Amazon. It already has the right connector. Any issues with that plan. And yes, I did get the gummies :)
Sep 9, 2016 5:15 PM - danzca6: Matt is the king of making things right
Sep 9, 2016 5:16 PM - danzca6: You should be able to use all the wiring
    Sep 9, 2016 5:16 PM - Toro1966: Was looking at the raise 3D n2+
    Sep 9, 2016 5:16 PM - danzca6: Nice
Sep 9, 2016 5:17 PM - Toro1966: Was ready to pull the trigger but we just bought a daggum sleep number bed (buying this weekend). So a new printer is going to have to wait.
Sep 9, 2016 5:17 PM - danzca6: In fact, you can use the Robo thermistor cartridge and heater cartridge if you want on the e3d
Sep 9, 2016 5:18 PM - Toro1966: Awesome. I didn't know I could use the Robo thermistor sin the e3d cartridge looks longer. Does it matter?
    Sep 9, 2016 5:19 PM - Toro1966: Going to hopefully install tomorrow.
Sep 9, 2016 5:20 PM - danzca6: I think it was Matt that told me they were interchangeable
Sep 9, 2016 5:20 PM - danzca6: No firmware changes if you do it that way
    Sep 9, 2016 5:20 PM - Toro1966: I'll try it. What's the worse that can happen?!
Sep 9, 2016 5:20 PM - Toro1966: I was just going to ask that. If I use heater and thermistor from Robo I just plug and play right?
    Sep 9, 2016 5:21 PM - danzca6: That's the theory
Sep 9, 2016 5:22 PM - danzca6: Of course you know you just jinxed yourself
    Sep 9, 2016 5:22 PM - Toro1966: Excellent.
    Sep 9, 2016 5:22 PM - Toro1966: Lol. Of course I did.
Sep 9, 2016 5:22 PM - Toro1966: Just got my new complete hot end from Robo today as well. They replaced under warranty.
Sep 9, 2016 5:23 PM - Toro1966: Lol. Minor issue but I didn't get the nice blue fan holder on the e3d. It's black now.
    Sep 9, 2016 5:23 PM - Toro1966: I like blue more better.
Sep 9, 2016 5:23 PM - danzca6: I've got the pt100 thermistor coming with mine... Not sure if I'll see a difference but oh well
    Sep 9, 2016 5:24 PM - danzca6: Black? Interesting
Sep 9, 2016 5:24 PM - Toro1966: How Doyle tell which thermistor you have?
Sep 9, 2016 5:24 PM - Toro1966: Yep. I was expecting blue like all others.
Sep 9, 2016 5:25 PM - danzca6: Not sure to tell you the truth
Sep 9, 2016 5:26 PM - danzca6: Maybe with the wiring, but good question
Sep 9, 2016 5:26 PM - danzca6: At least for the cartridge style ones
Sep 9, 2016 5:30 PM - danzca6: Have you been watching Joel and his use of that raise 3d?
    Sep 9, 2016 5:33 PM - Toro1966: Yep. He hasn't had much luck.
Sep 9, 2016 5:34 PM - danzca6: On the contrary... He's been doing pretty well with it now
Sep 9, 2016 5:35 PM - Toro1966: I guess I need to watch the new videos. The older ones were no joy
    Sep 9, 2016 5:35 PM - danzca6: He likes it a lot
Sep 9, 2016 5:35 PM - danzca6: Their service has been great for him
    Sep 9, 2016 5:36 PM - Toro1966: Nice. That's what I was hoping. I really want one. Just don't have 3500 extra bones
Sep 9, 2016 5:37 PM - danzca6: I feel you there... To many wants and not enough funds
Sep 9, 2016 5:40 PM - Toro1966: Ain't that the truth. Plus I just bought a game of thrones le pinball machine two months ago.
