    Sep 10, 2016 at 5:26 AM - teknoprep: whats a raise 3d ?
    Sep 10, 2016 at 5:28 AM - danzca6: http://www.raise3d.com/
Sep 10, 2016 at 5:32 AM - danzca6: Looks like your flexistruder setup came out nice
    Sep 10, 2016 at 5:41 AM - teknoprep: thanks
Sep 10, 2016 at 5:41 AM - teknoprep: yeah its working very well
Sep 10, 2016 at 6:02 AM - teknoprep: i like this flexion extruder... its almost impossible to jam it
Sep 10, 2016 at 6:05 AM - Bill Monroe: raise3D is one of the better designs.. although it's 24" high model uses undersized parts and is prone to defects if the machine is touched while it's running
Sep 10, 2016 at 6:14 AM - danzca6: Heading out for soccer, but wanted to say hi Bill. Size does seem to be an oversight on these larger build volume machines at times.
Sep 10, 2016 at 6:58 AM - danzca6: Raining like crazy out at the fields... Should have brought an umbrella... or a bar of soap
    Sep 10, 2016 at 7:01 AM - Bill Monroe: :)
Sep 10, 2016 at 7:02 AM - Bill Monroe: we've not had rain in quite awhile
Sep 10, 2016 at 7:09 AM - danzca6: We get over an inch a week here... Wife found me a Victoria Secret umbrella in her truck... Covers as well as their night gowns
Sep 10, 2016 at 7:09 AM - Bill Monroe: is it pink?
Sep 10, 2016 at 7:10 AM - danzca6: Oh yeah... Losing a lot of man points right now
    Sep 10, 2016 at 7:10 AM - Bill Monroe: what a guy

    Sep 11, 2016 at 5:41 PM - Toro1966: Go Hawks!
Sep 11, 2016 at 6:34 PM - Bill Monroe: I dont follow basketball
    Sep 11, 2016 at 7:27 PM - Toro1966: Lol
Sep 11, 2016 at 7:28 PM - Toro1966: Playing around with MC somemore. Does anyone remember what the default retraction settings are?
Sep 11, 2016 at 7:28 PM - Bill Monroe: i never used MC
    Sep 11, 2016 at 7:29 PM - danzca6: default retraction = uninstall ;)
    Sep 11, 2016 at 7:29 PM - Bill Monroe: <hi5>
Sep 11, 2016 at 7:33 PM - danzca6: Toro if you have s3d, why are you playing with MC?
Sep 11, 2016 at 7:34 PM - Bill Monroe: likes to live like the "little people"?
Sep 11, 2016 at 7:52 PM - Toro1966: Lol. A lot of people still use it and don't want to pay the money for S3D. I am trying to get the best prints I can from MC and help some of them out.
Sep 11, 2016 at 7:53 PM - Toro1966: Unfortunately, because a lot of people switch from MC to S3D on here, the knowledge tree is pretty bare on MC. I absolutely appreciated the help when I started out, but not many people could tell mme a lot about MC except switch to S3D lol.
Sep 11, 2016 at 7:55 PM - danzca6: well if you want the default a reinstall will show that. Mine says 3mm on "lenth on move"
Sep 11, 2016 at 7:56 PM - danzca6: I used MC for a month or so before switching to Cura. Still enjoying using Cura and it's free
Sep 11, 2016 at 7:57 PM - Toro1966: Cura is free, but again, for a newbie - there is no Cura setup for Robo. YEs - there is a tutorial, but I can't click "Robo" and have it setup.
    Sep 11, 2016 at 7:57 PM - danzca6: hmmm...version 15 has a robo profile
Sep 11, 2016 at 7:58 PM - Toro1966: I know how to do it now, but since MC is the supported software, I figured I would learn how to use it and maybe write a "for dummies for others"
Sep 11, 2016 at 8:01 PM - Toro1966: I know how to do it now, but since MC is the supported software, I figured I would learn how to use it and maybe write a "for dummies for others"
Sep 11, 2016 at 8:02 PM - Toro1966: And you are correct - I forgot about the latest version of 15 having the preset.
Sep 11, 2016 at 8:02 PM - Toro1966: I still think MC is easier to use than Cura for a beginner.
Sep 11, 2016 at 8:11 PM - Toro1966: I'm having some print quality issues (s3d). Believe it's retraction related but not sure where to start. Here are some pics of latest print. Notice the defects.
    Sep 11, 2016 at 8:13 PM - Toro1966: pics coming. Technical difficulties

    Sep 12, 2016 at 6:57 AM - Toro1966: Morning all.,
    Sep 12, 2016 at 6:59 AM - danzca6: Morning Toro
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:03 AM - danzca6: did you ever get your retraction issue resolved?
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:03 AM - Toro1966: How's it going D? Still having issues with zits and rough prints. They are all coming out, but I get whispy stringing - which is not bad - but the print isn't smooth as it should be. My guess is cooling or retraction.
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:04 AM - Toro1966: I might need to change that setting regarding ciooling time. I think I remember you saying to set it to 30 sec which I did - but now I have dual fans.
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:04 AM - Toro1966: So it probably needs to go back down. Which setting was that, and what do you have yours at?
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:04 AM - Toro1966: Did you see the pics I posted last night?
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:05 AM - Toro1966: Had to post links because I couldn't post the pics for some reason.
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:07 AM - danzca6: in s3d? Not sure where that is in s3d. I think in Cura it was under expert settings and I think I still have mine at 30 seconds
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:07 AM - danzca6: I saw the pics but not sure what would cause it
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:07 AM - danzca6: is it just that model you have seen it on?
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:09 AM - Toro1966: Nope - I have seen it on multiple models. Gets worse as the layer gets smaller (shorter time).
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:09 AM - Toro1966: Going to check my extrusion again and confirm I am not overextruding as well.
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:09 AM - daniel871: Fiddle with the "minimum layer time" setting in Simplify3D until it fixes that.
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:10 AM - Toro1966: Should I be going up or down? Have you experienced this as well Dan?
    Sep 12, 2016 at 7:11 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:12 AM - daniel871: Top right section, fiddle with the minimum time and the slowdown factor underneath it for the most the printer can be slowed down.
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:12 AM - daniel871: If the filament is looking too melted, you're probably actually going too slow.
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:15 AM - Toro1966: Prints are actually coming out fine except for the bumps, roughness. So I don't know that it is melted per se. Not sure. So I should lower that number because it's probably slowing down my prints when the layer gets short - correct/
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:16 AM - Toro1966: Any good test prints that don't take forever but will test this?
    Sep 12, 2016 at 7:20 AM - Toro1966: [IMG]
    Sep 12, 2016 at 7:22 AM - Toro1966: [IMG]
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:23 AM - Toro1966: notice how the lower levels look much nicer thatn the top - which is tapered so a shorter timed layer.
    Sep 12, 2016 at 7:24 AM - Toro1966: [IMG]
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:24 AM - Toro1966: Also - what about the whispy stringing? Is that retraction? What do you have your retraction settigns at guys - in S3D?
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:25 AM - danzca6: sometimes the stringing can be nozzle temp too high
    Sep 12, 2016 at 7:26 AM - danzca6: https://www.simplify3d.com/support/print-quality-troubleshooting/#stringing-or-oozing
    Sep 12, 2016 at 7:26 AM - danzca6: https://www.simplify3d.com/support/print-quality-troubleshooting/#blobs-and-zits
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:26 AM - Toro1966: Might be. I'm only printing at 190. I have studied that link pretty extensively, but they seem to indicate most due to retraction before temp.
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:27 AM - Toro1966: Yep - spent a lot of time ont hose links whihc is why I am thinking retraction or coasting, just not sure where to start.
    Sep 12, 2016 at 7:27 AM - Toro1966: [IMG]
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:29 AM - danzca6: are the zits happening at the beginning or end of the layer
    Sep 12, 2016 at 7:30 AM - Toro1966: can't tell.
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:30 AM - Toro1966: I actually watched the trex print for an hour last night and could not tell where the roughness was coming from.
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:31 AM - danzca6: I haven't had a lot of experience troubleshooting that. So not sure either what would work best
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:38 AM - Toro1966: Probably going to submit a post to the thread I started previously to see what other thoughts I get as well. I appreciate the help!
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:40 AM - daniel871: I was actually getting a lot of those bumps on my R1+ before the extruder motor and driver died, so you may want to go ahead and order some spare parts.
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:42 AM - daniel871: They seemed to happen totally independent of slicer settings with no real changes made with editing the slicer settings, then things started going to hell as parts died.
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:58 AM - daniel871: This is going to be a fountain of some high quality Schadenfreude right here. [IMG]
    Sep 12, 2016 at 7:59 AM - JeffTheMess: I can't wait for this

Sep 12, 2016 at 10:20 AM - danzca6: Daniel, is that true the headphone jack will still be in the iPhone 7 just no hole in the cover? That's crazy
Sep 12, 2016 at 10:22 AM - danzca6: Jerry made me laugh on this video about converting your iPhone to an iPhone7.

Sep 12, 2016 at 11:40 AM - daniel871: danzca, remember those fake images that went around telling people they could recharge the battery in their iPhone 6 by putting it in the microwave?
    Sep 12, 2016 at 12:15 PM - Toro1966: You mean you can't?
    Sep 12, 2016 at 12:15 PM - danzca6: I don't remember those
Sep 12, 2016 at 12:18 PM - JeffTheMess: it was funny people actually did it

Sep 12, 2016 at 12:19 PM - JeffTheMess: they made it look legit
    Sep 12, 2016 at 12:20 PM - danzca6: that is too funny
Sep 12, 2016 at 12:20 PM - danzca6: I can just imagine the calls to the tech support afterwards
    Sep 12, 2016 at 12:21 PM - Toro1966: or the fire department....
    Sep 12, 2016 at 12:41 PM - danzca6: that too
Sep 12, 2016 at 2:32 PM - daniel871: Here's a neat article about everyone's favorite thing to add to Robos after the LCD controller. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolo...erry-pi-is-good-for-britains-digital-economy/
    Sep 12, 2016 at 3:08 PM - Toro1966: hey guys - quick temp question
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:10 PM - Toro1966: Troubleshooting print quality and just figured I would start by checking extrusion. I had been printing at about 188 and my prints looked pretty decent. I checked the extrusion and I was way underextruding at 188. So I upped the temp in 5 degree increments until I started extruding the appropriate amount (100mm). It took getting it up to 205 for that to happen. Is that normal and was that the right way to do it?
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:15 PM - mark tomlinson: Calibrate teh extruder
    Sep 12, 2016 at 3:15 PM - mark tomlinson:
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:28 PM - Toro1966: Already calibrated the extruder weeks ago. I should not have to keep calibrating it - correct?
    Sep 12, 2016 at 3:29 PM - Toro1966: I have done that video about 10 times.
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:29 PM - Toro1966: The last time I adjusted the steps and all was well. Why would I have to redo it? What I don't know, however, is the temp I had the extruder at when I calibrated it.
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:30 PM - Toro1966: And should temp have an effect on extrusion? The common sense part of me says yes.
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:30 PM - Toro1966: Not sure of the real answer though.
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:32 PM - mark tomlinson: 1) filament extrudes differently at different temperatures. So did you calibrate it at a random temperature or the one you normally extrude at?
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:32 PM - mark tomlinson: 2) You should extrude your filament at the lowest temperature needed for it to flow correctly.
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:33 PM - mark tomlinson: 3) Different spools of the same filament can have different 'perfect' temperatures so test each one and go with the best settings
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:33 PM - Toro1966: Can't remember temp I calibrated it at Mark - but that makes sense. What constitutes the definition of flows correctly
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:34 PM - mark tomlinson: Extrudes smoothly and hangs down if you have the extruder in the air/off the bed.
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:34 PM - Toro1966: I ask because at 188, it seemed to flow fine, straight down, but was underextruding. At 185 - it gives me the cold extrusion prevented error.
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:34 PM - mark tomlinson: If it clumps up around the nozzle -- you are too hot
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:35 PM - mark tomlinson: if it does not extrude smoothly you are too cold
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:35 PM - mark tomlinson: it does not extrude at all you are way too cold :)
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:35 PM - Toro1966: Even at the 205 I am printing at now, it goes straight down and spools up as it should (extruder is only about 30mm up)
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:36 PM - mark tomlinson: Thats fine. You will always have a range inside of which the filament will be fine. Use the coldest.
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:36 PM - mark tomlinson: that means you have less heat to manage
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:36 PM - Toro1966: So given all of those things, 188 underextrudes, 185 will not extrude, 205 extrudes 99/100mm and flows straight down, I am thinking the 205 is probably the right answer for now.
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:36 PM - Toro1966: Or else I would have to calibrate extruder at lower temp - correct?
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:37 PM - Toro1966: Unless 205 gives me stringing, etc - which would force me to recalibrate to print at lower temp - correct?
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:38 PM - mark tomlinson: Yep. Sounds fine
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:38 PM - Toro1966: Could that be why my S3D print times were way off - underextrusion? I mean it was off by 30-40 min on a 2 hour print and almost 2 hours on a 12 hour print.
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:38 PM - mark tomlinson: You have it sorted for your printer and that spool :)
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:38 PM - Toro1966: Yup - going to mark it with a sharpie on the side so I know!
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:39 PM - mark tomlinson: The print times in S3D and most slicers rally are crap because they do not and can not account for acceleration
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:39 PM - mark tomlinson: They are a ball-park estimate at best
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:40 PM - Toro1966: Got it - thanks for all of your help as always. Printing the first print with the new settings now - 40mm cube
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:40 PM - mark tomlinson: it is basically just doing the math and dividing the filament needed (in meters) by the extrusion rate
    Sep 12, 2016 at 3:40 PM - Toro1966: Ahh. That makes sense
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:40 PM - Toro1966: I'll post pics when cube is done.
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:40 PM - mark tomlinson: good luck
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:41 PM - Toro1966: Also turned bed down to 50. It was at 55. Default in S3D is 60
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:48 PM - Toro1966: Ok - print is done. I printed a 40mm cube (20mm and then scaled it double). Quality of surface is great but I notice that the corners are slightly bigger than the cube. Pics coming but hope that makes sense

    Sep 12, 2016 at 3:52 PM - Toro1966: Measurements are pretty on other than the corners. (40.04 x 40.14)
Sep 12, 2016 at 3:58 PM - Toro1966: Thoughts as to why the corners seem to be out slightly
Sep 12, 2016 at 4:03 PM - danzca6: Have you calibrated your jerk and acceleration settings
Sep 12, 2016 at 4:13 PM - Toro1966: Nope. No idea how to do that. Damn - is there anything I don't have to friggin calibrate on this daggum thing!
    Sep 12, 2016 at 4:14 PM - danzca6: Haha..no
Sep 12, 2016 at 4:15 PM - danzca6: It's really less if a calibration and more of an adjustment
Sep 12, 2016 at 4:15 PM - danzca6: Default values from Robo are too high really
Sep 12, 2016 at 4:16 PM - danzca6: I'm away from home or else I would paste what I have
    Sep 12, 2016 at 4:16 PM - danzca6: I'll search...
Sep 12, 2016 at 4:17 PM - Toro1966: Thanks brother. No worries. If you could shoot them to later that would be great. Is that what causes those extended corners?
    Sep 12, 2016 at 4:19 PM - danzca6: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/any-idea-whats-causing-this-at-corners.6589/
Sep 12, 2016 at 4:19 PM - danzca6: Jerk should be 17 it looks like
    Sep 12, 2016 at 4:21 PM - danzca6: Acceleration at 300 for x and y at least

    Sep 12, 2016 at 4:26 PM - Toro1966: Thanks!
    Sep 12, 2016 at 4:26 PM - Toro1966: x and y for mine are at 300 right now
    Sep 12, 2016 at 4:26 PM - Toro1966: sorry 500 right now
    Sep 12, 2016 at 4:27 PM - Toro1966: they should be 300 you say?
    Sep 12, 2016 at 4:29 PM - danzca6: Well worth a shot...
Sep 12, 2016 at 4:30 PM - danzca6: If no real change you might have other issues to look at. Just first thing I thought of
    Sep 12, 2016 at 4:31 PM - danzca6: I know you are looking for perfect. ;)
    Sep 12, 2016 at 4:46 PM - Toro1966: Lol - yep - I'm ...er...meticulous...
    Sep 12, 2016 at 4:46 PM - Toro1966: yep, that's the adjective!

Sep 12, 2016 at 4:53 PM - danzca6: Is there a competition already set for that bot
Sep 12, 2016 at 4:54 PM - toymaker: no im still working on the design, than i got to submit it to the battlebot people
Sep 12, 2016 at 4:54 PM - toymaker: im gonna try for next season but their like 250-300 other applications at least for 2016
    Sep 12, 2016 at 4:54 PM - danzca6: Fun..I think that would be a great experience
Sep 12, 2016 at 4:55 PM - toymaker: i woudl like to put a giant brushless motor for the main weapon,..but damn their expensive
Sep 12, 2016 at 4:56 PM - toymaker: the brushed motor im using now in my design is like 600$ but can put out 13hp with spurts up to 20 or so
Sep 12, 2016 at 4:58 PM - danzca6: The forum demands a video when that is built
Sep 12, 2016 at 4:59 PM - toymaker: i was gonna make the frame out of aluminum and i was gonna try to print some jigs to hold the tubing in place for welding

Sep 12, 2016 at 5:04 PM - toymaker: its even slopped armor for extra defelction
Sep 12, 2016 at 5:04 PM - toymaker: plus being a wedge design on all 4 side makes for no weak spot imo
Sep 12, 2016 at 5:07 PM - toymaker: plus it has shock absorbers that somewhat isolate the internal features from the external armor, and has a wide stance ( 32" x 32") witha low center of gravity
Sep 12, 2016 at 5:09 PM - toymaker: what i need is a way to spin the weapon and have it "break away " from the shaft so, the shaft can still spin after landing a hit
    Sep 12, 2016 at 5:15 PM - Toro1966: My FN 5.7 would make a dent :)
Sep 12, 2016 at 5:29 PM - toymaker: it just might... i dont have to much experince with 5.7
Sep 12, 2016 at 5:29 PM - toymaker: i know it can punch through a lot of things bigger heavier rounds cant
    Sep 12, 2016 at 5:35 PM - Toro1966: yep. high velcoity
Sep 12, 2016 at 5:44 PM - daniel871: If you're talking battle bots the rules I read are pretty restrictive.
Sep 12, 2016 at 5:45 PM - daniel871: Weapons must have an automatic wind down/braking of less than 60 seconds, and remote disabling features.
Sep 12, 2016 at 5:46 PM - daniel871: No ballistics capable of breaking the lexan walls, no flames longer than 4 feet and fuel limited to 16 ounces.
Sep 12, 2016 at 5:47 PM - daniel871: No ablative armor or weapons that destroy themselves to damage enemy bots.
Sep 12, 2016 at 5:47 PM - daniel871: No wonder there were so many hammers and drum spinners.
Sep 12, 2016 at 6:16 PM - Toro1966: If I make a change to S3D FFF during a print, will it be reflected during the current print, or not until I start a new print?
Sep 12, 2016 at 6:27 PM - Toro1966: Still getting bumps when I print. Going to try and change retraction settings
Sep 12, 2016 at 6:59 PM - Toro1966: This retraction stuff is like voodoo to me. I read the material on it but don't profess to know what's causing my issue.
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:04 PM - daniel871: You have to re-slice for changes to be in the GCode.
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:04 PM - Toro1966: OK - every place there is a retraction in the S3D preview, I can see that in my print. It's literally almost a one for one.
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:04 PM - Toro1966: When does it slice, when you push print?
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:05 PM - daniel871: If a print is currently running, cancel it, make changes, re-slice/preview, then print.
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:06 PM - Toro1966: So even though I exit preview and reenter preview it's not reslicing it if the print is going - correct?
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:07 PM - Toro1966: Have to wait for this one to be done. Three hour print I don't want to stop now. My test cubes did not show any bumps. But every retraction that is showing in my S3D preview is showing on my rpint. So something needs to be chganges
    Sep 12, 2016 at 7:07 PM - Toro1966: changed
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:22 PM - daniel871: Disable retraction altogether and use Coasting instead.
    Sep 12, 2016 at 7:22 PM - daniel871: Also yes, you can't change print programs mid-stream.
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:22 PM - Toro1966: does it have to be one or the other or can those be used together? I thought I could use them together
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:23 PM - Toro1966: retraction and add -restart and then use coast
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:24 PM - daniel871: You can use them together, but you should really limit the variables if you can. If no retraction changes fix the problem, try a different layer change option.
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:26 PM - Toro1966: what do you mean by layer change option
    Sep 12, 2016 at 7:26 PM - Toro1966: And wouldn't disabling retraction cause stringing?
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:27 PM - Toro1966: Do you mean optimize start point or random start point on each layer? RIght now I have mine at random.
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:33 PM - daniel871: Retraction, coasting, Z-hop, etc. Pick one, try it, test it. See which one gives best results, use it as primary layer change and slowly add in other options for the minimum layer change effort for the printer.
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:34 PM - daniel871: I always set mine for optimize because randomize just makes it harder to tune the layer change settings.
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:35 PM - Toro1966: Got it. Thanks. Going to be printing several test cylinders tomorrow to try an dial it in. I definitely think it's retraction settings since everywhere S3D shows a retraction, I have a defect.
Sep 12, 2016 at 7:53 PM - toymaker: https://imgur.com/a/dFGqN side view of my bot.. yes i need to still work on all the safety switches, brakes, etc
    Sep 12, 2016 at 7:59 PM - Toro1966: What is the default z lift?

    Sep 13, 2016 4:37 AM - JeffTheMess: why?

Sep 13, 2016 4:53 AM - Bill Monroe: <sigh> google search failed again
Sep 13, 2016 4:56 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, google is monetizing what people see
Sep 13, 2016 4:57 AM - Bill Monroe: well, I searched "Hillary" and "dead" but came up empty
    Sep 13, 2016 4:58 AM - JeffTheMess: like I said monetizing :)
    Sep 13, 2016 4:58 AM - Bill Monroe: :)

Sep 13, 2016 5:09 AM - Bill Monroe: think I'll change the station to Married With Children reruns
    Sep 13, 2016 5:12 AM - JeffTheMess: lol

Sep 13, 2016 7:34 AM - daniel871: What story was that Bill? The only recent story I read like that was back in April where the one room mate was actually the girlfriend that got upset over the one guy being bisexual and cheating on her with the other guy. No drugs in the story, though they were black.

Sep 13, 2016 9:14 AM - JeffTheMess: strange that they threw that in there

Sep 13, 2016 9:34 AM - Toro1966: Calibration stuff tonight! Trying to get rid of these surface defects
Sep 13, 2016 9:35 AM - JeffTheMess: your bed is warped?
Sep 13, 2016 9:35 AM - Toro1966: Good news is I really haven't had any failed prints in the couple of months I've owned the printer. Just trying to clean it up. Only slightly warped it looks like.
Sep 13, 2016 9:36 AM - Toro1966: First layer is doing fine. Just getting zits during retractions. (have a thread about it). Going to try some things recommended and see what I get
Sep 13, 2016 9:36 AM - Toro1966: How baout yourself? Printing anything interesting?

    Sep 13, 2016 9:42 AM - JeffTheMess: ofcourse
    Sep 13, 2016 9:43 AM - JeffTheMess: you want another robo/
Sep 13, 2016 9:43 AM - Toro1966: My son has a Robo too, so that helps.
Sep 13, 2016 9:43 AM - Toro1966: Nope - looking at the Pruse Mk2. Also looked at the Raise N2+
Sep 13, 2016 9:44 AM - Toro1966: Lots of good offerings now it seems.
Sep 13, 2016 9:44 AM - JeffTheMess: oh yeah, ever thought of making a diy one
Sep 13, 2016 9:45 AM - Toro1966: To be honest - no - although now that you mention it, I wonder why not :)
Sep 13, 2016 9:46 AM - Toro1966: I don't think I would know where to start. Not really that advanced yet.
Sep 13, 2016 9:46 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, it's good because you can make it to tailor your needs
Sep 13, 2016 9:47 AM - Toro1966: I know I definitely want a dual extruder next time. I'm actually considering adding it to my Robo.
Sep 13, 2016 9:48 AM - JeffTheMess: oh yeah, plenty of source for that
Sep 13, 2016 9:51 AM - Toro1966: I like printing in multiple colors. I have figured out how to do it by just pausing and changing filament, but it would be nice to not have to do that.
Sep 13, 2016 9:52 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah alot better
Sep 13, 2016 10:01 AM - danzca6: Toro if you are thinking of dual color with the Robo, might want to consider this since it just used a single hotend. https://www.kickstarter.com/project...ystem-intuitive-multi-filament-3d/description
Sep 13, 2016 10:01 AM - danzca6: I think traditional dual extrusion is a bit of an art with the robo
Sep 13, 2016 10:02 AM - danzca6: also since you have the R1+, you may need to get a new standard RAMPS board so you can have 2 extruder drivers
Sep 13, 2016 10:02 AM - Toro1966: I agree D. I am actually getting ready to convert to standard RAMPS soon. Want to have the option in case one goes bad!
    Sep 13, 2016 10:05 AM - JeffTheMess: ??? new standard ramps
Sep 13, 2016 10:07 AM - Toro1966: You can change out the R1+ RAMPS boards with standard RAMPS. Just needs a slight reqiring. Very easy looking at the instructions and much more flexibility
    Sep 13, 2016 10:07 AM - Toro1966: rewiring
    Sep 13, 2016 10:08 AM - danzca6: The R1+ comes with a custom RAMPS config Jeff
Sep 13, 2016 10:08 AM - JeffTheMess: ah ok, mine works fine no need for it :)
Sep 13, 2016 10:08 AM - Toro1966: R1+ doesn't have an open stepper port because the z uses two instead of on the same as in the standard RAMPS
    Sep 13, 2016 10:08 AM - danzca6: what's the fun in that Jeff ;)
Sep 13, 2016 10:09 AM - JeffTheMess: lol i've been working on the sla both types
    Sep 13, 2016 10:09 AM - danzca6: oh yeah...how is that project coming
Sep 13, 2016 10:10 AM - JeffTheMess: good not as hard as I thought actually
Sep 13, 2016 10:11 AM - danzca6: when do you think you will be printing with it?
Sep 13, 2016 10:11 AM - JeffTheMess: soon...I had other stuff in place first
Sep 13, 2016 10:12 AM - JeffTheMess: one is done just need the uv liquid
    Sep 13, 2016 10:12 AM - JeffTheMess: to test
    Sep 13, 2016 10:13 AM - danzca6: can't wait to see it
Sep 13, 2016 10:14 AM - JeffTheMess: me too lol
    Sep 13, 2016 10:15 AM - danzca6: I bet....seeing some of the cosplayers I follow using the Forms 2 is pretty impressive
Sep 13, 2016 10:20 AM - Toro1966: What about the Wanhoe? That thing is only 399 and seems to get pretty good reviews.
Sep 13, 2016 10:20 AM - JeffTheMess: for the price can't go wrong
Sep 13, 2016 10:22 AM - danzca6: Daniel871 can tell you about his Monoprice Select which is close to the Wanhoe...he likes it a lot

Sep 13, 2016 10:30 AM - danzca6: monoprice has 20% off deals fairly often...so you can really get a good deal
    Sep 13, 2016 10:32 AM - danzca6: I still like this little guy...http://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=107&cp_id=10724&cs_id=1072403&p_id=15365&seq=1&format=2
    Sep 13, 2016 10:36 AM - WheresWaldo: It's a rebadge of this printer https://wanhaousa.com/products/duplicator-6
Sep 13, 2016 10:38 AM - danzca6: are those close sourced or do they use universal boards and firmware.
Sep 13, 2016 10:46 AM - daniel871: They use common chinese boards and some flavor of customized Repetier or Marlin.
Sep 13, 2016 10:46 AM - daniel871: The i3 I have uses a fairly limited Melzi board and Repetier, the newer "Plus" version of the i3 with touch screen uses Marlin (not sure about the controller itself).
Sep 13, 2016 10:49 AM - danzca6: where is the monoprice plus version? I thought they had one and a delta
Sep 13, 2016 10:50 AM - daniel871: Hang on, I'm looking but the site must be getting hammered because it's loading *really slowly*
Sep 13, 2016 10:54 AM - danzca6: no rush...just wondering if they had them still

    Sep 13, 2016 10:55 AM - danzca6: here's the delta http://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=15840
    Sep 13, 2016 10:55 AM - danzca6: It was under gadgets/robots and not 3d printer...for whatever reason
Sep 13, 2016 10:58 AM - daniel871: I'm kind of curious about the claim that the delta there can be assembled in "a couple hours" vs the usual "20 hours assembly time".
    Sep 13, 2016 11:05 AM - danzca6: or if you want a large volume printer ... http://www.3ders.org//articles/2016...f-huge-wham-3d-printer-with-build-volume.html
Sep 13, 2016 11:05 AM - danzca6: I know where Ingersoll is...wonder if they will be building it there or at ORNL
Sep 13, 2016 11:17 AM - Toro1966: My desires are large build volume and dual extruders
Sep 13, 2016 11:26 AM - Toro1966: Noticed the dleta doesn't have a heated bed. How hard is that to add?
    Sep 13, 2016 11:27 AM - danzca6: How about this Toro https://www.bcn3dtechnologies.com/en/catalog/bcn3d-sigma/
Sep 13, 2016 11:27 AM - danzca6: Geof has one and seems to be liking it so far
    Sep 13, 2016 11:29 AM - danzca6: and it is open source
Sep 13, 2016 12:33 PM - Geof: what you talkin bout danzca :D
    Sep 13, 2016 12:40 PM - Toro1966: have to check that out.
Sep 13, 2016 12:40 PM - danzca6: that is the one you have isn't it Geof?
Sep 13, 2016 12:42 PM - Toro1966: look snice - but spendy and basically the sme build volume I have.
    Sep 13, 2016 12:44 PM - Toro1966: also saw the black widow
Sep 13, 2016 12:44 PM - Geof: Yes thats my sigma.yes about same build but 2 material capable
Sep 13, 2016 12:46 PM - Toro1966: How hard is it to build your own?
Sep 13, 2016 12:46 PM - daniel871: Someone is sharing this video around and trying to identify the music in it. Makes me think of an SNES game but I can't figure out where it may have come from.
    Sep 13, 2016 12:46 PM - Toro1966: And what are the benefits?
Sep 13, 2016 12:47 PM - daniel871: Also some serious safety violations in that video.
Sep 13, 2016 12:47 PM - daniel871: Fat man almost gets pulled in when feeding insulation rolls to it.
    Sep 13, 2016 12:50 PM - daniel871: [IMG]
Sep 13, 2016 12:53 PM - danzca6: that guy is either dazed coming out of that truck or just soiled himself
Sep 13, 2016 12:54 PM - daniel871: Nah, that's pure "God damnit, come back here with my cargo!"
Sep 13, 2016 12:55 PM - danzca6: well he did stop before the barrier ;)
Sep 13, 2016 12:55 PM - danzca6: oh wait, there is a barrier on the other side
Sep 13, 2016 12:57 PM - daniel871: Check this shit out. Guy makes a saw blade out of paper.
Sep 13, 2016 1:13 PM - Ryan TeGantvoort: damn that music sounds so familiar but can't put my finger on it
Sep 13, 2016 2:56 PM - Lytmup: Does anyone know which controller board to replace for the extruder motor?
Sep 13, 2016 3:15 PM - Toro1966: what are you guys using for retract speed in S3D? Mine is set at 40mm/s. I am trying to do some things to fix the retraction blobs
Sep 13, 2016 3:44 PM - Geof: Hey danz sorry for jumping out work got crazy, what's up with the sigma ?
Sep 13, 2016 3:45 PM - Geof: Toro somewhere there is a thread, possibly in the software section, with s3d profiles. Can't recall mine but I think 50 mm/s
    Sep 13, 2016 4:05 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Geof.
    Sep 13, 2016 4:06 PM - Toro1966: I have the one you sent me a couple of months ago and it's at 40 so I'll try 50
Sep 13, 2016 4:08 PM - Toro1966: Geof, D, going to try enabling "wipe nozzle on retract. When I do that I have to enable wipe nozzle as well. Then it asks me for a wipe distance. Default is 5 - what should it be?
Sep 13, 2016 4:19 PM - Geof: I don't use that function buddy. Just retract, speed and temps
Sep 13, 2016 4:26 PM - Toro1966: ok - thanks. Figured I would try it out. No change in symptoms. What do you have youyr retract settings at?
    Sep 13, 2016 4:29 PM - Geof: Hmmm I think it's at 1.6.
Sep 13, 2016 4:30 PM - Geof: What ya getting as a print defect ?
    Sep 13, 2016 4:33 PM - Toro1966: Pic in a sec
Sep 13, 2016 4:35 PM - Toro1966: Was getting blobs (small ones) Then I changed some settings - added negative retstart distance and then enabled wip nozzle on retract. now getting line in print. It's in aloine I know because I have it set to optimize points. But not sure why the line. Just turned on - retract only when crossing open space.
    Sep 13, 2016 4:35 PM - Toro1966: Does all that make sense?
Sep 13, 2016 4:37 PM - Geof: I'd turn off the neg retract. Probably what's causing the lines. Not enough material at the retract.
    Sep 13, 2016 4:37 PM - Toro1966: [IMG]
Sep 13, 2016 4:37 PM - Toro1966: That makes sense. So I should probably try to turn on wipe without any negative restart - correct?
Sep 13, 2016 4:38 PM - Geof: Then address heat as a possible issue then tweak the retract setting until it's where you want
Sep 13, 2016 4:38 PM - Geof: You can try idk what wipe does
Sep 13, 2016 4:38 PM - Toro1966: Heat should not be a factor now. I am printing at 195 and just recalibrated my extruder today to 195. It is fairly consistently extruding 99-100/100
Sep 13, 2016 4:39 PM - Toro1966: My original issue was zits/blobs. They were small but the printing guide said to use negative restart. Doing that gave me the line you see.
    Sep 13, 2016 4:40 PM - Toro1966: Maybe I need to lower the negative restart. I was at -.2 and -.4 Maybe I should be at -.1 or -.05
Sep 13, 2016 4:42 PM - Toro1966: Ok - still got the line with NO retraction. Now what?
Sep 13, 2016 4:46 PM - Geof: With no retraction at all?
Sep 13, 2016 4:48 PM - Toro1966: Yep. I had retract over open spaces checked and I was printing a cylinder, so it didn't do any retractions I am pretty sure.
Sep 13, 2016 4:56 PM - Geof: Then your getting tool lines ? You have your extruder calibrated ?
Sep 13, 2016 4:56 PM - Geof: You can try increasing your extrusion multiplier a but to see if they fill in or get worse
Sep 13, 2016 5:04 PM - Toro1966: Yes - Calibrated it today and just checked again. Extrusion multiplier at 1. Should I increase it?
Sep 13, 2016 5:05 PM - danzca6: So is that line from each layer starting at the same point?
Sep 13, 2016 5:06 PM - Toro1966: Yes - and it matches perfectly with the retraction points as shown in the S3D preview
Sep 13, 2016 5:09 PM - Toro1966: And there are actually two lines. each about 45 degrees apart from the other.
    Sep 13, 2016 5:10 PM - Toro1966: Could it be the model?
Sep 13, 2016 5:12 PM - Geof: Yes very easily could be the model or the way it's sliced
Sep 13, 2016 5:15 PM - Toro1966: I tried repairing it but when I reslice it - it shows the retractions in the same place.
Sep 13, 2016 5:15 PM - danzca6: Do you run your models through netfabb or are you using the built in tools in s3d
    Sep 13, 2016 5:16 PM - Toro1966: netfabb
Sep 13, 2016 5:17 PM - Toro1966: Going to try and print something else.
    Sep 13, 2016 5:17 PM - Toro1966: Very frustrated at the moment..
Sep 13, 2016 5:44 PM - Toro1966: I'm thinking the model had something to do with it. Because the problem I was trying to fix was blobs/zits. They were small, but there. Then, after doing nothing but recalibrating the extruder, I get the lines. Thoughts? I am printing another model. Complex 9 hour part. We'll see how it comes out.
Sep 13, 2016 5:58 PM - Geof: Try again with a little smaller extrusion multiplier.. Like .98 see what it looks like the try 1.05
Sep 13, 2016 6:05 PM - Toro1966: will definitely try that tomorrow. Started a print that will last all night. Printing part of the space needle
Sep 13, 2016 6:58 PM - danzca6: Have you tried printing the same thing on your son's to see if it's the same on both
    Sep 13, 2016 7:00 PM - Bill Monroe: Dan
Sep 13, 2016 7:04 PM - Geof: Hi danzca and Bill good evening
    Sep 13, 2016 7:04 PM - Bill Monroe: wassup?
Sep 13, 2016 7:05 PM - Geof: Nota thing. Relaxin
Sep 13, 2016 7:06 PM - danzca6: Bill that map of yours was booming last night
    Sep 13, 2016 7:06 PM - Bill Monroe: booming?
Sep 13, 2016 7:06 PM - danzca6: I was showing my kids it and now they want me to get an antenna like that to watch the traffic in Chicago
    Sep 13, 2016 7:07 PM - danzca6: Booming=tons of planes
Sep 13, 2016 7:07 PM - Bill Monroe: oh! ahaah.. not very hard to make... the tricky part is getting it up high
Sep 13, 2016 7:07 PM - Bill Monroe: although it didnt do too bad just mounted to my patio cover
Sep 13, 2016 7:07 PM - Bill Monroe: it's pretty flat there.. probably be fine
Sep 13, 2016 7:09 PM - danzca6: Flat indeed... Although I live in a hilly area... Should still be fine
    Sep 13, 2016 7:09 PM - Bill Monroe: yup
Sep 13, 2016 7:09 PM - Bill Monroe: if you're serious let me know, I'll point you to the instructions
Sep 13, 2016 7:09 PM - danzca6: My TV antenna pulls from as far as Madison
Sep 13, 2016 7:10 PM - danzca6: Yeah I would like to see what it would take to setup. I Geek out about that stuff
    Sep 13, 2016 7:10 PM - Bill Monroe: k hang on
    Sep 13, 2016 7:11 PM - danzca6: Does it need a certain model pi
    Sep 13, 2016 7:11 PM - Bill Monroe: not that I'm aware of.. : https://flightaware.com/adsb/piaware/build
Sep 13, 2016 7:12 PM - danzca6: Wow thanks... That will give me some reading tonight
Sep 13, 2016 7:13 PM - Bill Monroe: i bought a 37" Sony all-in-one with a touch screen and mounted the PI to the back.. made another antenna and put the rig in my hanger... VERY popular.. one of the FBOs want me to make one for their classroom
Sep 13, 2016 7:18 PM - danzca6: I bet... My brother in law will get a kick out of it
Sep 13, 2016 7:26 PM - danzca6: George Foreman about to knock out Captain Kirk
    Sep 13, 2016 7:27 PM - danzca6: On "Better Late Than Never"

Sep 14, 2016 at 5:02 AM - Toro1966: Morning all. Printer idle question for everyone. There are ties when I print before i go to work or during the night, and then leave the pirinter idle for several hours (sometimes 8 or more) without turning it off. The print is complete so of course the hotend is off, and only the fans are on, but will that hurt the longevity or do any damage? Is that a bad practice?

Sep 14, 2016 at 5:11 AM - JeffTheMess: I do it all the time, I don't like it because it a waste of energy.
Sep 14, 2016 at 5:12 AM - JeffTheMess: one can add an extra command with a servo to flip the switch for you
Sep 14, 2016 at 5:16 AM - Toro1966: Didn't think about that option jeff - but that's an idea. Thanks!
    Sep 14, 2016 at 5:17 AM - JeffTheMess: sure
Sep 14, 2016 at 5:37 AM - Toro1966: Just wanted to make sure I wasn't damaging anything from leaving it on at idle for hours at a time.
Sep 14, 2016 at 5:41 AM - JeffTheMess: do you have the stock power supply from robo?

Sep 14, 2016 at 5:52 AM - danzca6: Toro, I found this the other day...interesting idea for powering your printer on and off remotely. Also having the pi and octoprint makes it nice to monitor your prints while you are away. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1707063
Sep 14, 2016 at 5:53 AM - danzca6: I would change a few things they did, but the idea is good
Sep 14, 2016 at 5:55 AM - Toro1966: Thanks D! Prrinted part 1 of 7 for my Space Needle last night. .1 layer height and 30mm/s. Came out pretty nice. Still have the retraction issue I am working on, but relatively speaking, I think it looks pretty good.

    Sep 14, 2016 at 5:58 AM - danzca6: Jeff, 30mm/sec for .1 isn't too bad of a speed
    Sep 14, 2016 at 6:00 AM - JeffTheMess: really? I've done 55 with ease at .1
Sep 14, 2016 at 6:02 AM - Toro1966: quality jeff. I could have probably gone 60 - but since I was printing overnight anyway, why rush it and risk it.
Sep 14, 2016 at 6:02 AM - Toro1966: There were enough complex things and this was printed without overhangs that I wanted to be sure.
    Sep 14, 2016 at 6:05 AM - Toro1966: meant supports - sorry
Sep 14, 2016 at 6:07 AM - JeffTheMess: ugh what the hell

Sep 14, 2016 at 6:09 AM - JeffTheMess: spins and all
    Sep 14, 2016 at 6:10 AM - danzca6: pretty cool...nice paint job
Sep 14, 2016 at 6:15 AM - daniel871: Are those lines supposed to represent latitude or is that just the ringing in the Z-axis?
Sep 14, 2016 at 6:20 AM - Toro1966: Can't wait to see what the whole thing looks like together. I might Try and print multiple pieces together to help with the retraction issue as well.
Sep 14, 2016 at 6:22 AM - daniel871: Printing multiple pieces together is actually a bad idea if they're tall.
Sep 14, 2016 at 6:22 AM - Bill Monroe:
Sep 14, 2016 at 6:23 AM - daniel871: Increases the chances of the long rapid traverses resulting in layer shifts if your drivers aren't calibrated/tuned really well.
Sep 14, 2016 at 6:24 AM - JeffTheMess: those are rings dan
    Sep 14, 2016 at 6:26 AM - daniel871: :p

Sep 14, 2016 at 6:47 AM - danzca6: Jeff, you designed that? Good job man

Sep 14, 2016 at 7:01 AM - JeffTheMess: for the ipad?
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:01 AM - Bill Monroe: yup
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:03 AM - JeffTheMess: what part of the plane will it be attached to?
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:03 AM - Bill Monroe: its the control yoke.. the part you grab to fly
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:04 AM - Bill Monroe: wait.. for those who only move in 2 dimensions.. the steering wheel
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:04 AM - JeffTheMess: oh I understand what you are doing now
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:05 AM - Bill Monroe: well that makes one of us :)
    Sep 14, 2016 at 7:05 AM - Toro1966: I assume you are not 3D printing that - correct?
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:06 AM - Bill Monroe: not for the final product..
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:06 AM - Bill Monroe: I'll print the casting pattern
    Sep 14, 2016 at 7:07 AM - JeffTheMess: ofcourse
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:08 AM - Bill Monroe: its far from finished.. this kinda thing is a challenge in solidworks but it's coming along
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:08 AM - JeffTheMess: solidworks has freeform?
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:09 AM - Bill Monroe: yup
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:09 AM - JeffTheMess: is that what you are using to design it?
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:09 AM - Bill Monroe: solidworks is what designers use when they grow up :)
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:10 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. using SW

Sep 14, 2016 at 7:13 AM - Toro1966: I have no idea how to use any of that software yet. Have fun Bill!
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:13 AM - JeffTheMess: peace out
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:13 AM - JeffTheMess: what you use to design?
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:21 AM - danzca6: Bill if you end up casting that control wheel, I would love to see a video of that
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:23 AM - Toro1966: Lol - I don't Jeff. Just getting into this. Been printing other people's stuff until I get the hang of the printing thing, quality, settings, etc. Then I'll start designing things. I have several I already want to try. I'll be using Fusion 360 to start with because it's free.
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:24 AM - danzca6: Fusion 360 is great for us hobbyists
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:30 AM - JeffTheMess: oh yeah, yeah fusion is good for printing and 123d design i hear is good
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:31 AM - JeffTheMess: you will see the full potential of your printer when you have an idea and it come to life
    Sep 14, 2016 at 7:31 AM - JeffTheMess: its a great feeling
    Sep 14, 2016 at 7:49 AM - Toro1966: Can't wait!
    Sep 14, 2016 at 7:55 AM - danzca6: this would be a great thing for the shop...https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1294137530/the-first-desktop-waterjet-cutter?ref=home_potd
    Sep 14, 2016 at 7:57 AM - JeffTheMess: http://makezine.com/2016/09/13/wazer-desktop-waterjet-cutter/
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:57 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah that thing is pretty cool, but for the 6grand meh
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:58 AM - JeffTheMess: beats any cnc (except for wood)
Sep 14, 2016 at 8:01 AM - danzca6: and the fact you won't get it until nov of next year
    Sep 14, 2016 at 8:01 AM - danzca6: still cool
Sep 14, 2016 at 8:01 AM - JeffTheMess: I'll wait for the Chinese knock off :)
Sep 14, 2016 at 8:02 AM - JeffTheMess: its an awesome project though now you can make almost anything at home
    Sep 14, 2016 at 8:07 AM - danzca6: that, a cnc, a laser, and a 3d printer...that would make a nice little maker space
Sep 14, 2016 at 8:41 AM - Toro1966: Where should I go to research if I am looking at building a large build volume 3d printer? I went to reprap but all of the ones on the site are smaller than I am looking to maybe build. Might just end up buying, but I am intrigued by the thought of building one.
Sep 14, 2016 at 9:00 AM - daniel871: The problem with building larger and larger build space printers is that the straightness/fit tolerances get progressively tighter as you go larger, in addition to the component pieces having to be larger in order to have the proper rigidity.
Sep 14, 2016 at 9:02 AM - daniel871: I mean, check out how huge the framework is on that large build area Delta printer someone showed off at one of the CES expos.
Sep 14, 2016 at 9:10 AM - daniel871: To give you an idea, here is a video of a cubic meter printer. Note how huge the frame tubes are (and other details like how big the spool is for scale reference).
Sep 14, 2016 at 9:12 AM - daniel871: Here is another video that even has a Robo3D printer in the background for reference.
    Sep 14, 2016 at 9:12 AM - Toro1966: Thanks Dan. I'll take a look.
Sep 14, 2016 at 10:27 AM - teknoprep: hi all
Sep 14, 2016 at 10:27 AM - teknoprep: this new extruder rocks... flexion
    Sep 14, 2016 at 10:27 AM - teknoprep: i am printing with quality at 150-200mm/sec w0ot
Sep 14, 2016 at 10:30 AM - JeffTheMess: pretty good numbers

    Sep 14, 2016 at 12:16 PM - daniel871: Also, update on that Delta kickstarter I backed. https://www.kickstarter.com/project...inter/posts/1681482?ref=backer_project_update
    Sep 14, 2016 at 12:34 PM - danzca6: getting closer Daniel
Sep 14, 2016 at 12:48 PM - daniel871: Looks like it might actually happen.
Sep 14, 2016 at 12:49 PM - daniel871: Whether it ends up being a really good printer or not is up in the air, but fingers crossed.
Sep 14, 2016 at 5:59 PM - Toro1966: Hey guys - what is your minimum travel for retraction set at in S3D - last tab?
Sep 14, 2016 at 6:32 PM - danzca6: Geof, why don't you have an avatar yet?
Sep 14, 2016 at 6:35 PM - Toro1966: Geof/D - can i get your min retraction travel that is in the last tab
    Sep 14, 2016 at 6:35 PM - Toro1966: S3D
Sep 14, 2016 at 6:41 PM - danzca6: I'll head to my office and see
    Sep 14, 2016 at 6:43 PM - danzca6: 3mm
Sep 14, 2016 at 6:43 PM - danzca6: but it is also unchecked
    Sep 14, 2016 at 6:44 PM - Toro1966: Thanks! Mine is set at 1mm
    Sep 14, 2016 at 6:44 PM - Toro1966: ahh. mine is checked
Sep 14, 2016 at 6:44 PM - danzca6: this is just the fff that I got from Geof
    Sep 14, 2016 at 6:44 PM - Toro1966: that could explaina lot
Sep 14, 2016 at 6:47 PM - Toro1966: Means many more retractions than probably needed
    Sep 14, 2016 at 7:01 PM - danzca6:
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:06 PM - Geof: Danzca hows it going
    Sep 14, 2016 at 7:06 PM - Geof: You still plyin with s3d ?
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:11 PM - Bill Monroe: good evening

    Sep 14, 2016 at 7:12 PM - danzca6: Evening bill
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:12 PM - Bill Monroe: what it be?
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:13 PM - danzca6: Slow and tired... Days are getting too short
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:14 PM - Bill Monroe: yes indeed
    Sep 14, 2016 at 7:14 PM - danzca6: Working on anything tonight?
    Sep 14, 2016 at 7:14 PM - danzca6: Your wheel?
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:14 PM - Bill Monroe: working on it
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:15 PM - Bill Monroe: actually, trying to change the default setup in SW... always looks like everything is lit from behind
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:15 PM - danzca6: Not sure if you saw my response this morning, but would love to see a video of you casting that
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:16 PM - Bill Monroe: I didnt see that.. it'll be awhile but I'll try to remember to video it
    Sep 14, 2016 at 7:16 PM - danzca6: Looks like a fun project
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:17 PM - Bill Monroe: i'm going to make an enameled badge for the wheel center
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:18 PM - danzca6: I thought you were mounting the iPad to the front
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:19 PM - Bill Monroe: yes, but when it's removed
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:19 PM - Bill Monroe: i just mount it there while flying IFR.. dont leave it in the plae
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:19 PM - Bill Monroe: plane
    Sep 14, 2016 at 7:21 PM - danzca6: Ah that's true... Makes sense
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:22 PM - Bill Monroe: they make a series of mounts but they wont with a ram's horn style yoke, which is original to the plane...
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:22 PM - Bill Monroe: but the original is too small so, I'm making a bigger one :)
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:23 PM - danzca6: You could leather wrap the handles
    Sep 14, 2016 at 7:24 PM - Bill Monroe: that's in the plan :)
    Sep 14, 2016 at 7:24 PM - danzca6: Nice
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:24 PM - Bill Monroe: my cousin in Colorado does custom car interiors... she's an artist
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:25 PM - Bill Monroe: i my fly the plane up there and leave it with her for awhile
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:25 PM - Bill Monroe: get some tuck and roll :)
    Sep 14, 2016 at 7:26 PM - danzca6: Pulling out ALL the stops...haha
    Sep 14, 2016 at 7:27 PM - Bill Monroe: wool headliner :)
    Sep 14, 2016 at 7:29 PM - danzca6: Fuzzy dice.. Shag carpet..haha
    Sep 14, 2016 at 7:29 PM - Bill Monroe: whoa now.. it's a plane, not a greaser's wet dream
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:30 PM - Bill Monroe: she did my truck, and my Model A.. really nice and the A looked very original
    Sep 14, 2016 at 7:30 PM - danzca6: Lmao
Sep 14, 2016 at 7:32 PM - danzca6: I wish I knew a good interior person... My van has some rips in the leather

Sep 15, 2016 5:06 AM - danzca6: is it back in the shop?
Sep 15, 2016 5:07 AM - Bill Monroe: getting some avionics work done
Sep 15, 2016 5:07 AM - Bill Monroe: the transponder is a new release.. techs are still learning how to program it
    Sep 15, 2016 5:08 AM - danzca6: bleeding edge
    Sep 15, 2016 5:08 AM - danzca6: that last part is a bit scary
    Sep 15, 2016 5:08 AM - Bill Monroe: ya :) Mode C, Mode S, ADS-B, ADS-R...
Sep 15, 2016 5:09 AM - Bill Monroe: the thing is amazing... even turns it self on and off
    Sep 15, 2016 5:10 AM - danzca6: nice

    Sep 15, 2016 5:12 AM - Bill Monroe: that's disgusting...
    Sep 15, 2016 5:14 AM - danzca6: disgusting? haha....I like the way it squishes between my toes...haha
Sep 15, 2016 5:14 AM - Bill Monroe: foot-squishing grapes should be restricted to young women in short skirts
Sep 15, 2016 5:15 AM - danzca6: haha...I'm sure there will be plenty of those there as well...at least one that I will be bringing with me ;)
Sep 15, 2016 5:17 AM - danzca6: Is that the transponder you are getting? very slick
Sep 15, 2016 5:17 AM - Bill Monroe: ya... kinda splurged
    Sep 15, 2016 5:19 AM - danzca6: gotta treat yourself
    Sep 15, 2016 5:20 AM - Bill Monroe: 2.0 does that :)
Sep 15, 2016 5:20 AM - danzca6: Hey you don't have a teacher in your family named Paris do you
Sep 15, 2016 5:20 AM - Bill Monroe: got some new kayaking buddies thanks to her
    Sep 15, 2016 5:20 AM - Bill Monroe: nope.. i dont
Sep 15, 2016 5:21 AM - danzca6: hearing about the dress code kayaking with her...I am not at all surprised ;)
Sep 15, 2016 5:22 AM - danzca6: Ok then I will share this. I was just asking because I was just reading an article this morning...reminded me of a great song...Got it bad, got it bad, hot for teacher
    Sep 15, 2016 5:22 AM - danzca6: https://www.yahoo.com/style/is-teacherbaes-dress-too-tight-for-school-122657231.html
Sep 15, 2016 5:22 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, saw that... she doesnt have dresses that are too tight... she's got a body that's too big :)
Sep 15, 2016 5:23 AM - danzca6: reminds me of something you said the other day
Sep 15, 2016 5:24 AM - danzca6: didn't you answer a question about if a dress made someone look fat
    Sep 15, 2016 5:24 AM - danzca6: haha
Sep 15, 2016 5:24 AM - Bill Monroe: " no your butt makes those pants look small" :)
    Sep 15, 2016 5:25 AM - danzca6: That's the one...hahaha :)
Sep 15, 2016 5:29 AM - Bill Monroe: we were bike riding a couple of days ago... I dropped back to tweak the rear shifter.. when I caught up to her she was waiting and some 20-something guys were kinda hitting on her
    Sep 15, 2016 5:29 AM - danzca6: http://www.3ders.org//articles/2016...sserschmitt-bf-109-h-f-german-wwii-plane.html

Sep 15, 2016 5:29 AM - Bill Monroe: well, they were trying :)
Sep 15, 2016 5:30 AM - Bill Monroe: she introduced me... they got all flustered
    Sep 15, 2016 5:30 AM - danzca6: haha...they just don't have the game like you do Bill :)
Sep 15, 2016 5:30 AM - Bill Monroe: heh.. well I get it..
Sep 15, 2016 5:30 AM - danzca6: see that articled above about the ww2 plane
Sep 15, 2016 5:31 AM - Bill Monroe: anyway, turns out they're kayaking enthiusiats, I told them I'd been looking for some kayaking buddies since my group dried up...
Sep 15, 2016 5:31 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. 3D printed RC is crap
    Sep 15, 2016 5:32 AM - danzca6: really? I think it would be fun...but haven't tried it yet
Sep 15, 2016 5:32 AM - Bill Monroe: do you fly RC now?
    Sep 15, 2016 5:32 AM - danzca6: I don't fly but I do have some cars and trucks
Sep 15, 2016 5:33 AM - Bill Monroe: ok.. if you want to fly RC, dont be seduced by the cool looking planes, they're usually quite difficult to fly
Sep 15, 2016 5:33 AM - danzca6: hmm...I can see that...weight and all is probably a lot more important flying
Sep 15, 2016 5:33 AM - Bill Monroe: there's some really nifty trainers that are inexpensive and easy to fly.. more fun for the buck and you have a better chance of going home with a whole plane
Sep 15, 2016 5:34 AM - danzca6: well, maybe that plane would make a better toy to display on a shelf then
Sep 15, 2016 5:34 AM - Bill Monroe: my son tried to learn it while he was in the army.. just like most folks he went through thte cool plane phase.. and had a lot of non-flying parts to show for it
Sep 15, 2016 5:35 AM - Bill Monroe: when he got home I showed him what to do..
Sep 15, 2016 5:36 AM - danzca6: being your son, I would think he would have learned that awhile back
Sep 15, 2016 5:36 AM - Bill Monroe: he's graduated to advanced-telemetry virtual-reality planes with 8 ft wings and auto-course following now, but still has that trainer because "it's relaxing and low-stress"
    Sep 15, 2016 5:36 AM - Bill Monroe: in other words.. it's fun :)
Sep 15, 2016 5:37 AM - danzca6: VR is pretty cool when you look at things like drone racing and such and you can get a FPV flying your craft
    Sep 15, 2016 5:37 AM - Bill Monroe: bah.. drones are over-rated
    Sep 15, 2016 5:37 AM - danzca6: well, you get the idea
Sep 15, 2016 5:38 AM - Bill Monroe: we have a knucklehead in my san diego area home that has more money then sense
Sep 15, 2016 5:38 AM - danzca6: to have that in one of your rc planes would make flying it a bit more interesting I bet
Sep 15, 2016 5:38 AM - Bill Monroe: he keeps buying expensive drones and buzzing the neighborhood.. I keep crashing them..
    Sep 15, 2016 5:39 AM - danzca6: haha...Bill "the drone killer" Monroe
Sep 15, 2016 5:39 AM - Bill Monroe: ya,, he's got a camera on a 4-axis gimble placed in the pilots seat of a piper cub.. you see the video through a headset.. the camera moves with your head
Sep 15, 2016 5:39 AM - Bill Monroe: it's the same tech they used for the gatling gun on cobra helicopters
    Sep 15, 2016 5:39 AM - danzca6: that is pretty cool tech
    Sep 15, 2016 5:40 AM - danzca6: like blue thunder
    Sep 15, 2016 5:40 AM - Bill Monroe: it's arduino-based in his case...
Sep 15, 2016 5:41 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. i can actually fly it just by using the headset... in fact, I can make better landings then all the experts at the RC field
Sep 15, 2016 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: i sat in the car once and flew it... he pretended to be flying it with another transmitter... then pretended to "lose control"
Sep 15, 2016 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: you should have heard all the rednecks on the field explain to him why he lost control
    Sep 15, 2016 5:43 AM - danzca6: hahaha...that is classic
Sep 15, 2016 5:43 AM - Bill Monroe: while they were "schooling" him.. i took off again...
Sep 15, 2016 5:44 AM - Bill Monroe: they dont tell me what to do anymore :)
Sep 15, 2016 5:44 AM - Bill Monroe: anyway, if you get serious about it, let me know and I'll point you to a good plane
Sep 15, 2016 5:45 AM - danzca6: sorry...I was just getting a picture of what their faces must have looked like
Sep 15, 2016 5:45 AM - Bill Monroe: oh god.. it was priceless
    Sep 15, 2016 5:45 AM - danzca6: i bet
Sep 15, 2016 5:46 AM - Bill Monroe: they got mad though... no one likes for someone to show them how stupid they are
Sep 15, 2016 5:46 AM - danzca6: their is an rc flying field down the road from me. I pass it every morning. Folks are always out there. Looks like a lot of fun.
Sep 15, 2016 5:47 AM - Bill Monroe: Kyle now only flys up at my Joshua Tree place... 3 square miles of uber-flat dry lake just 4 miles away
Sep 15, 2016 5:47 AM - danzca6: "like my mama always says..stupid is as stupid does"
Sep 15, 2016 5:48 AM - Bill Monroe: well this like other hobbies is full of guys that have learned enough to not hurt themselves, but then feel like an expert and pontificate "the right way" to anyone that will listen
Sep 15, 2016 5:49 AM - Bill Monroe: i've been doing RC for longer than many of them have been alive... but they feel like they should tell me how to do stuff..
Sep 15, 2016 5:50 AM - Bill Monroe: i just ignore them but it's the newbies that come to the field looking for advice that worry me... they'll listen to their drivel as if it's gospel, then have failures to the point they give up.. that bothers me
Sep 15, 2016 5:51 AM - Bill Monroe: of course, that happens here too :)
Sep 15, 2016 5:52 AM - danzca6: this is true...I know just enough to be dangerous sometimes
    Sep 15, 2016 5:53 AM - danzca6: I should put that in my signature
Sep 15, 2016 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe: there is one thing unique about this venue though... I've watched a newbie ask a question, then tell the person answering them that they dont know what they're tlaking about :)
Sep 15, 2016 5:54 AM - Bill Monroe: and folks here that are known to have zero success with their printer(s), dole out advice
    Sep 15, 2016 5:54 AM - danzca6: haha...yes...that does happen
Sep 15, 2016 5:55 AM - Bill Monroe: kinda sad really
    Sep 15, 2016 5:56 AM - danzca6: well...I guess I should get off to work...nice chatting as always Bill...take care buddy
Sep 15, 2016 5:56 AM - Bill Monroe: have a great day Dan
Sep 15, 2016 7:15 AM - daniel871: What about people that have good success with printers that *aren't* Robo3d printers doling out advice on checking parts that are prone to failing because of bad QC issues?
    Sep 15, 2016 9:16 AM - Toro1966: Afternoon everyone

    Sep 15, 2016 9:26 AM - danzca6: oh hell...it's 5 o'clock somewhere right
Sep 15, 2016 9:26 AM - danzca6: how is your journey with S3D nervana going?
Sep 15, 2016 9:26 AM - Toro1966: Exactly. First two of 8 space needle parts printed...

    Sep 15, 2016 9:28 AM - danzca6: nice job

Sep 15, 2016 9:29 AM - Toro1966: Thanks! Couldn't have done it without all of you guys' help. Still have some work to do. But I can't complain. I hear horror stories of failed prints and to be truthful - I might have ever had 1. I have had plenty I wish looked better - but not really any failed prints.
    Sep 15, 2016 9:30 AM - danzca6: Did you see this?
    Sep 15, 2016 9:30 AM - Toro1966: No - looking at it now.
Sep 15, 2016 9:30 AM - danzca6: he has created a tutorial it looks like...smart guy as well
Sep 15, 2016 9:31 AM - danzca6: I posted it here last night, but I think it got lost in the chatter before you could see it
    Sep 15, 2016 9:32 AM - danzca6: and it is through oreilly
Sep 15, 2016 9:32 AM - danzca6: interesting name though...Richard Horne...must have had a rough patch in middle school with that name
Sep 15, 2016 9:33 AM - daniel871: This video alone will probably help more people than the youtube intro thing. https://player.oreilly.com/videos/9781491961230
Sep 15, 2016 9:33 AM - daniel871: It's one of the free videos to watch in that course.
Sep 15, 2016 9:34 AM - danzca6: yeah a super nice guy...I think I am going to buy this course
    Sep 15, 2016 9:36 AM - danzca6: I mean for $60 that will be a good one to review
Sep 15, 2016 9:38 AM - daniel871: I can already hear the complaints from the "Simplify3D costs too much" crew about the course costing almost half again the cost of the program.
Sep 15, 2016 9:40 AM - danzca6: yeah but at that price it is free ground shipping ;)
    Sep 15, 2016 9:40 AM - danzca6: haha
    Sep 15, 2016 9:41 AM - Toro1966: Seems like a nice video
Sep 15, 2016 9:41 AM - danzca6: what we need is to have one of us go through and learn it all and then bestow the rest of us with their wisdom they picked up
Sep 15, 2016 9:41 AM - Toro1966: I'm looking at his intro video which is free
    Sep 15, 2016 9:41 AM - Toro1966: lol - I nominate you D
    Sep 15, 2016 9:41 AM - danzca6: there are a couple other free videos
    Sep 15, 2016 9:41 AM - danzca6: you're too kind Toro
    Sep 15, 2016 9:47 AM - Toro1966: On the last free one.
Sep 15, 2016 9:48 AM - Toro1966: Very good so far. Nothing I don't already know - but would have come in VERY handy a month ago :)
Sep 15, 2016 9:49 AM - Toro1966: Maintenance question - I have 3 in 1 oil and I do oil the X, y, and z smooth rods, but do I need to oil the screw rods?
Sep 15, 2016 9:49 AM - danzca6: the free ones are just to give you a taste...if you want to be the jeidi master you will have to buy the whole thing
    Sep 15, 2016 9:50 AM - danzca6: yes
Sep 15, 2016 9:51 AM - danzca6: I just put some drops on each side and run the z up and down so it works into the screw
Sep 15, 2016 9:51 AM - danzca6: some use white lithium grease, but I try to stay away from the thick stuff and keep things light...so far so good
Sep 15, 2016 9:52 AM - Toro1966: Excellent got it. Going to buy the video - what the heck.
Sep 15, 2016 9:53 AM - danzca6: haha...that's great...hopefully that gives you some pointers on getting things dialed in the way you want
    Sep 15, 2016 9:53 AM - danzca6: put in code danzca6 so I get a kickback
    Sep 15, 2016 9:58 AM - Toro1966: lol. If that's true I will
    Sep 15, 2016 9:58 AM - danzca6: no...not true...but I thought I would get you to try anyway ;)
    Sep 15, 2016 9:58 AM - danzca6: haha
    Sep 15, 2016 10:02 AM - Toro1966: lol.
    Sep 15, 2016 10:02 AM - danzca6: WAIT
    Sep 15, 2016 10:02 AM - danzca6: no joke this time
    Sep 15, 2016 10:02 AM - danzca6: WCYAZ
    Sep 15, 2016 10:02 AM - danzca6: use that
Sep 15, 2016 10:02 AM - Toro1966: Since I am printing a 12 hour piece I'll have plenty of time to review the video :)
    Sep 15, 2016 10:02 AM - danzca6: 50% off
    Sep 15, 2016 10:03 AM - danzca6: $29.99
    Sep 15, 2016 10:03 AM - Toro1966: WOW!!! AWESOME!
    Sep 15, 2016 10:03 AM - Toro1966: Just did it!
    Sep 15, 2016 10:03 AM - danzca6: <hi-5>
Sep 15, 2016 10:03 AM - danzca6: now you can buy me a copy as well
    Sep 15, 2016 10:03 AM - danzca6: :)
Sep 15, 2016 10:05 AM - Toro1966: Downloading them now. When I finish with them can I pass them to someone else like a book :)?
    Sep 15, 2016 10:06 AM - danzca6: hmmm...morally...probably not
Sep 15, 2016 10:06 AM - danzca6: heck I'll get them as well and support Richard
    Sep 15, 2016 10:10 AM - Toro1966: Excellent
    Sep 15, 2016 10:17 AM - danzca6: and done...now to watch it all tonight
    Sep 15, 2016 10:17 AM - danzca6: oh wait...lawn needs mowing
    Sep 15, 2016 10:32 AM - Toro1966: That's why I have a 17 year old.
    Sep 15, 2016 10:32 AM - Toro1966: I have 3 acres.
Sep 15, 2016 10:34 AM - danzca6: I only have 1 acre...but been pushing it by hand since my rider is dead
    Sep 15, 2016 10:34 AM - danzca6: so about 2.5 hours
    Sep 15, 2016 10:34 AM - danzca6: not even self propelled
Sep 15, 2016 10:34 AM - danzca6: Supposed to have a new Simplicity by the end of the month...hoping at least
    Sep 15, 2016 10:46 AM - Toro1966: Nice.
    Sep 15, 2016 10:46 AM - Toro1966: In this heat I would be dyiong!
Sep 15, 2016 11:13 AM - danzca6: oh we are high in the low 70s now...fall is just around the corner
Sep 15, 2016 11:13 AM - danzca6: but I have done it in the 90s and it's not fun. Kids just keep bringing me drinks.
    Sep 15, 2016 11:15 AM - Toro1966: today has been great, yesterday was 95
    Sep 15, 2016 11:16 AM - Toro1966: I was at a ball game - crazy hot in the stadium
    Sep 15, 2016 11:56 AM - daniel871: So hey, here's another kickstarter that looks halfway interesting. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/steelmans/lokbuild-3d-print-build-surface
Sep 15, 2016 11:59 AM - daniel871: (other than the closeups of their time-lapses showing fairly rough surfaces with the layer-alignment).
Sep 15, 2016 12:20 PM - danzca6: Seen that...not bad....I think some tuber had it already and was testing it if I remember correctly
    Sep 15, 2016 12:25 PM - daniel871: Any idea which tuber?
Sep 15, 2016 12:27 PM - daniel871: Found this one by the kickstarter company
    Sep 15, 2016 12:27 PM - daniel871: Oh, Maker's Muse
    Sep 15, 2016 12:28 PM - danzca6: yep...that's the one
Sep 15, 2016 12:28 PM - Mike Glass: Hey guys.
    Sep 15, 2016 12:28 PM - danzca6: Mr Glass
    Sep 15, 2016 12:29 PM - danzca6: how are things
    Sep 15, 2016 12:29 PM - Mike Glass: good, busy, crazy, :)
    Sep 15, 2016 12:29 PM - danzca6: busy crazy means $$$ right? haha
Sep 15, 2016 12:29 PM - Mike Glass: I wish, busy, and crazy for now then the $$$ later..
Sep 15, 2016 12:30 PM - danzca6: did you see the kickstarter for the desktop water jet
    Sep 15, 2016 12:30 PM - danzca6: that would be pretty cool
Sep 15, 2016 12:30 PM - Mike Glass: haha no
    Sep 15, 2016 12:31 PM - danzca6: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1294137530/the-first-desktop-waterjet-cutter?ref=discovery
Sep 15, 2016 12:31 PM - danzca6: already on the last tier and that looks to not be scheduled for delivery until nov 2017
Sep 15, 2016 12:32 PM - Mike Glass: sweet idea
Sep 15, 2016 12:32 PM - danzca6: could be a good addition to your laser
Sep 15, 2016 12:32 PM - Mike Glass: to small though
    Sep 15, 2016 12:33 PM - danzca6: haha...always with the size
Sep 15, 2016 12:33 PM - Mike Glass: well if it would do 1/2" I could consider
    Sep 15, 2016 12:35 PM - danzca6: well...maybe the next version
Sep 15, 2016 12:35 PM - Mike Glass: wonder how loud it is?
    Sep 15, 2016 12:35 PM - danzca6: good question
Sep 15, 2016 12:36 PM - danzca6: not sure I would want it in the office

Sep 15, 2016 12:37 PM - Mike Glass: you have to have a water supply to it, doesnt recirculate the water.
Sep 15, 2016 12:37 PM - Mike Glass: and then also a drain
Sep 15, 2016 12:40 PM - danzca6: that big box under it isn't the water tank?
    Sep 15, 2016 12:41 PM - danzca6: oh, you're right
Sep 15, 2016 12:41 PM - danzca6: I thought it would just have a tank of water it would reuse
Sep 15, 2016 12:42 PM - danzca6: that's just the pump but it does say tap water and drainage needed
Sep 15, 2016 12:42 PM - daniel871: Recirculating would probably require a really good filtration system vs. just dumping it into your city sewer system.
    Sep 15, 2016 12:42 PM - danzca6: what if you only have a well?
    Sep 15, 2016 12:43 PM - danzca6: and septic
Sep 15, 2016 12:43 PM - daniel871: Probably fucked in the extremely long term.
Sep 15, 2016 12:43 PM - danzca6: not sure I would want that in my septic
    Sep 15, 2016 12:44 PM - danzca6: still...pretty cool idea
Sep 15, 2016 12:44 PM - daniel871: Hey, that reminds me, whatever happened with the Glowforge?
    Sep 15, 2016 12:45 PM - danzca6: another great question
    Sep 15, 2016 12:45 PM - danzca6: still in pre order mode
Sep 15, 2016 12:46 PM - daniel871: Probably because they're looking to hire, well, just about every position.
    Sep 15, 2016 12:46 PM - daniel871: https://glowforge.com/jobs/
Sep 15, 2016 12:46 PM - daniel871: Holy crap look at the list of open positions.
    Sep 15, 2016 12:46 PM - Mike Glass: blowforge..haha
Sep 15, 2016 12:46 PM - Mike Glass: its a big joke in one of the forums i'm in.
Sep 15, 2016 12:47 PM - daniel871: I was hoping that they shipped units and were getting sued for setting someone's kitchen on fire.
    Sep 15, 2016 12:47 PM - danzca6: not a good sign at all
Sep 15, 2016 12:47 PM - daniel871: Because they kept using promotional images of it in a kitchen/dining room with no ventilation system as opposed to the proper shop-type setup you'd really need.
Sep 15, 2016 12:47 PM - danzca6: I like the idea of the glowforge...I see other laser manufactures trying to do what they are doing with the internal camera tracking and such
Sep 15, 2016 12:48 PM - Mike Glass: Thats has been around for years though on the top models.
Sep 15, 2016 12:48 PM - daniel871: I'm pretty sure the established laser CNC machines have that already.
    Sep 15, 2016 12:48 PM - danzca6: daniel...it has a charcoal filter...what else does it need ;)
    Sep 15, 2016 12:49 PM - danzca6: well...if you get the pro model
Sep 15, 2016 12:49 PM - daniel871: Actually I'm just about certain. I saw some mid-range models at SGIA last year and they had proper self-contained filter/circulation units to filter the fumes into a unit that you'd change filters on every so many hours.
Sep 15, 2016 12:49 PM - daniel871: Nothing like the charcoal filter on the Glowforge, lol.
    Sep 15, 2016 12:49 PM - danzca6: haha
Sep 15, 2016 12:50 PM - daniel871: Of course, those machines started at 20K, so.
Sep 15, 2016 12:50 PM - danzca6: well...when their $30M in raised funds runs out I am sure we will hear about some owner building a house with the funds and they had everything in a private bank account...yada yada
    Sep 15, 2016 12:53 PM - Mike Glass: lol
Sep 15, 2016 12:54 PM - danzca6: MG you ever watch SarbarMultimedia on YT
Sep 15, 2016 12:55 PM - daniel871: Man, I'm starting to feel a little hyped about that delta I backed actually showing up.
Sep 15, 2016 12:56 PM - danzca6: well, he has a great video series on the chinese co2 lasers off of ebay. pretty smart guy
Sep 15, 2016 12:57 PM - danzca6: yeah if you get that delta daniel it will be neat to see how well it works
    Sep 15, 2016 12:57 PM - daniel871: Oh hey, shit's on fire.
    Sep 15, 2016 12:58 PM - daniel871: *was* on fire.
    Sep 15, 2016 12:58 PM - daniel871: http://www.whas11.com/news/local/give-local-louisville-campaign-happening-now-/319050544
Sep 15, 2016 1:02 PM - Mike Glass: yea he has great video, I have talked to him before
Sep 15, 2016 1:03 PM - danzca6: really? I like his meter he made...not sure if he is still selling the pieces for it or not
Sep 15, 2016 1:04 PM - danzca6: I've learned a lot over the weekend watching his stuff...will need to watch again for it to sink all in I think
Sep 15, 2016 1:04 PM - daniel871: I figure if the mechanics of their build are sound I'll just run with it until I feel like upgrading the control board is worth doing.
Sep 15, 2016 1:05 PM - daniel871: They're still using the Mega/Ramps to drive the delta instead of going for the knock-off Due and RADDS controller combo.
    Sep 15, 2016 1:05 PM - daniel871: Or some other 32-bit controller.
Sep 15, 2016 1:05 PM - daniel871: Everything else looks really good to me on the mechanical side though.
Sep 15, 2016 1:06 PM - daniel871: Well, best I can tell from looking at the STEP files/etc. they posted here http://www.emergin.net/ressources/
Sep 15, 2016 1:07 PM - Mike Glass: You getting a laser danz?
    Sep 15, 2016 1:07 PM - danzca6: :( nooo :(
    Sep 15, 2016 1:07 PM - danzca6: I had to buy a new tractor...still trying
    Sep 15, 2016 1:08 PM - danzca6: I sound like a broken record I know
Sep 15, 2016 1:08 PM - Mike Glass: lol, new tractor?
    Sep 15, 2016 1:08 PM - danzca6: well a lawn tractor
    Sep 15, 2016 1:09 PM - Mike Glass: aww, yes a must
    Sep 15, 2016 1:09 PM - daniel871: Pft, lawn mower, not tractor.
Sep 15, 2016 1:09 PM - Mike Glass: if it has a removable cutter its a tractor.
Sep 15, 2016 1:10 PM - danzca6: it does have a removeable deck so in the winter I can put a blade on it
Sep 15, 2016 1:11 PM - Mike Glass: I need to get a blade for mine since I sold my 4 wheeler last month.
    Sep 15, 2016 1:11 PM - daniel871: All mowers have removable cutters. :p
Sep 15, 2016 1:12 PM - danzca6: well..mine actually is a simplicity prestige garden tractor according to their site...so potatoe pototoe
Sep 15, 2016 1:12 PM - Mike Glass: bbl, time to put in some new servers.
    Sep 15, 2016 1:13 PM - danzca6: take care MG
    Sep 15, 2016 1:16 PM - danzca6: speaking of mowers...time to go push mow mine....bbl

    Sep 16, 2016 at 6:00 AM - danzca6: I started watching them before bed

Sep 16, 2016 at 6:30 AM - Toro1966: Making progress on the space needle. 4 parts down, three to go. Changed the speed to 60mm/s without significantly changing the quality at .1mm layer. Which is a good thing.

    Sep 17, 2016 5:57 AM - Toro1966: Morning all.
    Sep 17, 2016 6:12 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
Sep 17, 2016 6:59 AM - Toro1966: Hey guys - new issue. Having issue with supports sticking. Z offset is set fine and on the main print sticking down nicely. Supports, however, are having an issue. It's almost as if it lays them down fine but as it's laying the layers down and retracts, it lifts the edge of the support up. Does that make sense?
Sep 17, 2016 7:03 AM - Bill Monroe: sticking supports is common.. S3D is best at handling support material on single extruder machines
    Sep 17, 2016 7:08 AM - Toro1966: I am using S3d
Sep 17, 2016 7:09 AM - Toro1966: Haven't had an issue until recently. Removed my oiler and extruded a couple hundred mm of filament to see if it was an oiler issue.
Sep 17, 2016 10:21 AM - Toro1966: Think that was it. Finally printing again...
Sep 17, 2016 2:38 PM - Toro1966: I wanted to start printing with some specialty filaments. Bronze, maybe CF, etc. I still have the stock hotend but that's only because I haven't gotten around to installing the e3dv6 I have. I had a few questions I was hoping some could answer
Sep 17, 2016 2:53 PM - Bill Monroe: oilers = total waste of time.
Sep 17, 2016 3:00 PM - Toro1966: Are there any specific brands that I should try or that are better than others?
Sep 17, 2016 3:00 PM - Bill Monroe: Printed Solid sells exotics with known quality
Sep 17, 2016 3:02 PM - Toro1966: I have seen the Colorfabb ones. They are pricey. I just want to make sure they are worht it before I spend the money.
Sep 17, 2016 3:03 PM - Toro1966: Also - Anyone print with T-glase? Almost looks like PETG. What's the big differenc?
Sep 17, 2016 3:03 PM - Bill Monroe: OK.. if you're going to ask me where to buy a Rolls Royce for the price of a Toyota, I cant help you
Sep 17, 2016 3:07 PM - Toro1966: You missed my point...I asked about colorfabb specifically and if its performance met its quality. If you've not used it, got it....
    Sep 17, 2016 3:07 PM - Toro1966: And price
Sep 17, 2016 3:08 PM - Toro1966: Just because something is expensive - does not mean its worth a crap.
Sep 17, 2016 3:14 PM - Toro1966: For filled materials, I have heard many buy hardened nozzles. I have also heard they don't last all that long either. What would you guys recommend - getting a hardened nozzle, or a pack of standard ones so I can just swap them out?
Sep 17, 2016 3:49 PM - Schlomo: anyone mount a Bondtech to the robo's carriage or Mike's carriage?
    Sep 17, 2016 3:56 PM - danzca6: Daniel871 has this http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1449135
Sep 17, 2016 4:01 PM - Schlomo: Yeah noticed that, printing it now and i'll give it a try. I think it fits on the old style carriage which i dont have on right now. I'll make something work. Sick of getting blobbing all over my prints
    Sep 17, 2016 4:04 PM - Bill Monroe: afternoon
Sep 17, 2016 7:53 PM - Geof: Toro regarding your question, I use colorfab for all my blend materials. Wood fill, bronze, copper, bamboo etc. I actually use Foxsmart for tpu.
Sep 17, 2016 7:53 PM - Geof: Hardened nozzles. As far as wear...I've been using the same hardened nozzle for over a year but wore out a brass in 13 hours of print job.
Sep 17, 2016 7:55 PM - Geof: Hopefully that answers your questions. If you want more specific info or multiple opinions (what I just said was opinion not fact) start a thread in the printing filament section.
Sep 17, 2016 8:19 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Geof. I appreciate the info. Which hardened nozzle do you have?
    Sep 17, 2016 8:31 PM - Geof: Which size ?

Sep 19, 2016 7:24 AM - daniel871: Wouldn't the herringbone gears accomplish the same thing with fewer headaches?
Sep 19, 2016 7:26 AM - Schlomo: well, got my bondtech crudely mounted as direct drive to my robo the other day
Sep 19, 2016 7:27 AM - Schlomo: printed the bondtech v2 plate fsomeone on here had suggested, but after I had everything dissassembled I checked the fit of the plate and realized I forgot but I have the Bondtech QR
Sep 19, 2016 7:28 AM - daniel871: That Bondtech v2 plate was just the model that previously used heat-pressed inserts changed so that the Robo-style of dropping nuts into slots could be used.
    Sep 19, 2016 7:29 AM - daniel871: Other than that, LOL.
    Sep 19, 2016 7:29 AM - Schlomo: Yep, i know.
Sep 19, 2016 7:29 AM - Schlomo: Stupid me forgot that the Bondtech V2 was different than the QR
Sep 19, 2016 7:29 AM - Schlomo: i ended up using the original robo plate and a dremel
Sep 19, 2016 7:29 AM - daniel871: Finally got the shop insulation project done and everything put back in the shop this weekend.
Sep 19, 2016 7:30 AM - daniel871: Took the little i3 back out of the rolling cabinet it had been stored in all this time, plugged it up and went right back to printing stuff last night.
Sep 19, 2016 7:31 AM - daniel871: It has the Bondtech mini and the all-metal hotend by Microswiss on it, though. So not exactly stock any more.
    Sep 19, 2016 7:31 AM - Schlomo: Ha who's printer is anymore
Sep 19, 2016 8:21 AM - daniel871: That kickstarter Delta out of Luxembourg will probably stay stock for a while if it runs as promised.
    Sep 19, 2016 10:07 AM - danzca6: Tom sure didn't like the Prusa MK2 ;)
Sep 19, 2016 10:10 AM - daniel871: About time Tom caught up with us on that particular printer.
    Sep 19, 2016 10:11 AM - daniel871: Or me, anyway. :p
Sep 19, 2016 10:13 AM - danzca6: I've never seen him so animated about a printer review before...now Robo has a new benchmark to try and hit with the legendary R2/C2 contenders
    Sep 19, 2016 10:25 AM - daniel871: Very funny, danzca.
    Sep 19, 2016 10:25 AM - daniel871: :p
Sep 19, 2016 10:26 AM - daniel871: Just finished watching the review, and yeah, I've never seen him so giddy over a printer review.
Sep 19, 2016 10:27 AM - daniel871: "best god damn 3d printer on the market right now" haha.
Sep 19, 2016 10:28 AM - danzca6: I think he was still high from the sugar in the bags of gummy bears Josef sent him
Sep 19, 2016 10:33 AM - daniel871: I cracked up at the "Tom Approved" logo.
Sep 19, 2016 11:33 AM - daniel871: So apparently I missed everything about No Man's Sky and the schadenfreude there, but this video is pretty good.
    Sep 19, 2016 12:07 PM - daniel871: Spoiler Alert! [IMG]

Sep 20, 2016 at 5:04 AM - JeffTheMess: so the new robo will have "filament run-out detection", something that should be done by software by now or with an optical encoder
Sep 20, 2016 at 5:51 AM - daniel871: Was that from another email? I marked Robo3D emails as Spam after that kickstarter fishing email.
    Sep 20, 2016 at 6:35 AM - JeffTheMess: facebook
Sep 20, 2016 at 7:39 AM - daniel871: Honestly, running out of filament should be something the operator learns how to avoid without having a printer feature that sits there and generates a clog if you aren't around when it is triggered.
Sep 20, 2016 at 7:44 AM - JeffTheMess: printer people getting lazy?
Sep 20, 2016 at 8:07 AM - daniel871: Yeah. I mean, it's not like you don't get an estimate of filament required when you slice a file or anything.
    Sep 20, 2016 at 8:22 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: Hey all!
Sep 20, 2016 at 8:22 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: been a while so I thought I would pop on

    Sep 21, 2016 6:12 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
    Sep 21, 2016 7:14 AM - danzca6: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1238702276/1771191264?token=338bb81e
    Sep 21, 2016 7:14 AM - danzca6: They're here
    Sep 21, 2016 7:23 AM - Schlomo: About time
Sep 21, 2016 7:50 AM - daniel871: They created a completely separate company profile instead of launching the kickstarter from the same profile the original printer came from?
    Sep 21, 2016 7:51 AM - daniel871: Also LOL at the C2 not having a heated bed for $699.
Sep 21, 2016 7:52 AM - daniel871: If it's an oversight on their campaign page, they really need to fix it. If not, holy shit are they stupid if they think a printer over $200 has any excuse to not have a heated bed in TYOOL 2016.
Sep 21, 2016 8:12 AM - daniel871: On another note, Monoprice is running a giveaway of each of their 3 primary 3d printer models. http://gvwy.io/oahi9uc
Sep 21, 2016 8:23 AM - danzca6: No heated bed... Future upgrade for user to buy... Kind of like having to still purchase a second extruder kit to upgrade the R2 instead of just coming with it at that price... Concerning for sure at this point in the game
Sep 21, 2016 8:41 AM - daniel871: I hope they send review models out to some of the guys on Youtube so some actual information can come out about it, because the way it is right now reads like a shitload of smoke and mirrors.
    Sep 21, 2016 9:50 AM - JeffTheMess: 700 for a non heated bed printer,thats a cash grab only
Sep 21, 2016 9:51 AM - JeffTheMess: they expect you to go for higher
Sep 21, 2016 9:52 AM - JeffTheMess: they are almost at their goal
Sep 21, 2016 10:07 AM - daniel871: Congrats to Robo for suckering a bunch of idiots on Kickstarter into giving them money.
Sep 21, 2016 10:08 AM - daniel871: *company takes in over $100k on kickstarter, then changes company name for the second time in a year and keeps the money*
Sep 21, 2016 10:10 AM - Geof: dont be so negative :D might be a good thing.
Sep 21, 2016 10:13 AM - JeffTheMess: why they are allowed to have another kickstarter is beyond me
Sep 21, 2016 10:13 AM - Geof: I think anybody is allowed to have as many kick starters as they want :D. new product...new kickstarter. 1st was successful 2nd looks like its going to good as well for them.
Sep 21, 2016 10:19 AM - JeffTheMess: defeats the purpose, that means a big company like example IBM can come in here and get money for a product they want to make, I think Robo would have been plenty successful without the kickstarter, seems cheap in my eyes
Sep 21, 2016 10:21 AM - Geof: i get what your saying but I could see the other side of that too...if IBM wasn't certain of the success of a new item, launch a kickstarter for it and see how the public reacts to it. If you get backed could be everyone likes it. if you dont, your not out anything :D
Sep 21, 2016 10:26 AM - daniel871: Before the rules to limit it were put in place, there was literally a project funded to write a book to teach people how to get away with raping women. There is no way to take "that project got funding" seriously.
    Sep 21, 2016 10:28 AM - daniel871: https://www.kickstarter.com/blog/we-were-wrong?page=24
    Sep 21, 2016 10:36 AM - JeffTheMess: didn't know that was a thing
    Sep 21, 2016 10:37 AM - Geof: me either
Sep 21, 2016 10:41 AM - JeffTheMess: whats the thinnest wall anyone got out of the robo?
Sep 21, 2016 10:42 AM - Geof: thinnest wall? perimeter? Or layer height?
    Sep 21, 2016 10:43 AM - JeffTheMess: thinnest wall
Sep 21, 2016 10:44 AM - Geof: 50 micron. my smallest layer height. have to go slow but I have an item I make for pachinko parts that requires .05 otherwise it wont fit. works, just slow.
Sep 21, 2016 10:46 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, layer highest is good at .1 to .3mm
Sep 21, 2016 10:47 AM - Geof: also .25 nozzle for that part.
Sep 21, 2016 10:47 AM - JeffTheMess: my wall thickness, i am trying to go down to .2
Sep 21, 2016 10:47 AM - JeffTheMess: hows the .25 nozzle work out
Sep 21, 2016 10:47 AM - Geof: so single outline?
Sep 21, 2016 10:47 AM - JeffTheMess: did it stick well
Sep 21, 2016 10:48 AM - Geof: it works well for that part...its the only part i need that kind of detail on lol.
Sep 21, 2016 10:48 AM - Geof: yes sticks fine. with all things z offset was crucial
Sep 21, 2016 10:49 AM - JeffTheMess: im thinking of getting a .2 nozzle for my parts, i've heard they have trouble sticking to the bed
Sep 21, 2016 10:49 AM - Geof: I havent had any issues. bought from printed solid. tweaked z offset until it was perfect. I use hairspray on plain glass. 50 deg heat.
Sep 21, 2016 10:50 AM - Geof: slow. 20 mm/s max for the amount of detail :D thats my opinion not fact :D
Sep 21, 2016 10:50 AM - JeffTheMess: cool i might have to take the plunge and get it
Sep 21, 2016 10:51 AM - JeffTheMess: I always go slow no rush for my parts
    Sep 21, 2016 10:52 AM - Geof: you have a hexagon or and e3d?
Sep 21, 2016 10:52 AM - JeffTheMess: geof your getting a new robo
    Sep 21, 2016 10:52 AM - JeffTheMess: e3d
Sep 21, 2016 10:52 AM - Geof: thats what I have in mine as well (E3D) if you have issues with it holler at me and we will walk through it
Sep 21, 2016 10:54 AM - Geof: what do you mean? are you asking if I'm backing the new printers?
    Sep 21, 2016 10:54 AM - JeffTheMess: yup
Sep 21, 2016 10:58 AM - jim3Dbot: Hey guys, just askin'......can you get a thinner wall then the nozzle diameter.....didn't think so.....set me straight
Sep 21, 2016 10:59 AM - JeffTheMess: i heard by switch the width dia. in s3d you can
    Sep 21, 2016 11:00 AM - JeffTheMess: https://www.simplify3d.com/support/print-quality-troubleshooting/#gaps-in-thin-walls
Sep 21, 2016 11:00 AM - Geof: yes the extrusion width in s3d is how I'm doing it.
Sep 21, 2016 11:00 AM - JeffTheMess: you also change the nozzle though right
Sep 21, 2016 11:00 AM - Geof: turn on thin wall feature. turn extrusion down. hard to get right but it works on a part I have to print in 2 pieces (.1mm wall) so 2 pieces at .05mm
    Sep 21, 2016 11:00 AM - Geof: yes with a .25 nozzle
Sep 21, 2016 11:01 AM - Geof: and I dont think I'm backing the printers jeff. I just bought a sigma so would probably get kicked out lol
    Sep 21, 2016 11:01 AM - jim3Dbot: gonna read that......seems impossible..........thanks jeff & geof........must be dropping it down from a height.........Thans will chk it out
    Sep 21, 2016 11:01 AM - jim3Dbot: thanx
Sep 21, 2016 11:01 AM - JeffTheMess: s3d says using a .4 nozzle you can change it to close to .3 or so
Sep 21, 2016 11:02 AM - Geof: yes you can drop it quite a bit. .25 to .05. keep in mind spent tons of time and failures tring to get it work for 1 model :D
Sep 21, 2016 11:02 AM - JeffTheMess: ugh... i know the feeling, thats why im making a sla
    Sep 21, 2016 11:03 AM - jim3Dbot: Jeff, you video'in that progress for later.........
Sep 21, 2016 11:04 AM - JeffTheMess: the hardware is done, just waiting for the wife to okay the resin :)
    Sep 21, 2016 11:05 AM - jim3Dbot: good luck with that :D
Sep 21, 2016 11:05 AM - JeffTheMess: well i bought her a house so she should be more towards letting me lol
Sep 21, 2016 11:06 AM - jim3Dbot: that sounds like an even trade
Sep 21, 2016 11:07 AM - JeffTheMess: stay tuned tomorrow I'll have pics of the setup of the dlpsla
    Sep 21, 2016 11:07 AM - jim3Dbot: perfect....want to see that portfolio..........
Sep 21, 2016 11:09 AM - JeffTheMess: i remember a time the r2 was going to have a sla feature, ahh the good ol' days
Sep 21, 2016 11:12 AM - jim3Dbot: Just read the 'last resort' thing in S3D....sounds like they are screwing with the extrusion setting..........see how U goota trial & error that.......
Sep 21, 2016 11:13 AM - Geof: yes sir. Typically isn't worth it, but I couldn't model my way out of it. :D Replacement part to fit inside of an OEM part lol
Sep 21, 2016 11:13 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, unless you have smaller nozzles and KNOW how to use them propely its trial and error
Sep 21, 2016 11:13 AM - JeffTheMess: must have been tight tolerance
    Sep 21, 2016 11:14 AM - jim3Dbot: R2 C2 sounds like a sequel to Star Wars
    Sep 21, 2016 11:14 AM - JeffTheMess: lol
Sep 21, 2016 11:14 AM - Geof: 1.05 mm. I've started modeling the 2nd part to sell togather so I dont have to deal with it. can be done but seriously isn't worth it lol
    Sep 21, 2016 11:14 AM - Geof: LMAO R2C2...piloted the ship rigth?
    Sep 21, 2016 11:15 AM - jim3Dbot: CP30 don't really know, R2D2?
    Sep 21, 2016 11:16 AM - Geof: lol

Sep 21, 2016 11:20 AM - JeffTheMess: someone will be here to clean up after robos work
Sep 21, 2016 11:21 AM - bukkinfuzzin: Yup cos they won't be here
Sep 21, 2016 11:21 AM - Geof: bukkinfuzzin I'm here I'll help ya out buddy.
Sep 21, 2016 11:22 AM - bukkinfuzzin: Iwas here @the start when the R1 showed its true face and saw people trying there dammnest to send them back
Sep 21, 2016 11:22 AM - JeffTheMess: oh yeah, taking a shyt on them lol
Sep 21, 2016 11:23 AM - bukkinfuzzin: They made the ROBO promise then
Sep 21, 2016 11:23 AM - JeffTheMess: hopefully they learned there lesson
Sep 21, 2016 11:24 AM - bukkinfuzzin: Yeah never seen a leopard with different spots
    Sep 21, 2016 11:24 AM - JeffTheMess: boom!
    Sep 21, 2016 11:25 AM - JeffTheMess: shots fired

Sep 21, 2016 11:28 AM - bukkinfuzzin: Realy who fixed the heated bed cable melting its sheathing?
Sep 21, 2016 11:28 AM - JeffTheMess: they carbon copied the ultimaker a bit so I think they are in pretty good shape
Sep 21, 2016 11:28 AM - JeffTheMess: lol never had that problem
    Sep 21, 2016 11:29 AM - bukkinfuzzin: Did You have an R1?

    Sep 21, 2016 11:30 AM - Printed Solid: good morning / afternoon / evening.
Sep 21, 2016 11:30 AM - JeffTheMess: there is ever only 2-3 people here daily now
Sep 21, 2016 11:30 AM - Geof: lol Hi PS. Having a good ole time. lots of members in and out throughout the day.
Sep 21, 2016 11:30 AM - Printed Solid: good entertainment.
    Sep 21, 2016 11:30 AM - Geof: lol very
Sep 21, 2016 11:31 AM - bukkinfuzzin: Came in early had all the problems fixed by users Robo didn@t want to know or there dealers the first in Uk took them off Ebay and moved to amazon dumped the lot never sold them again
Sep 21, 2016 11:31 AM - Printed Solid: yeah. Things were definitely rough coming off of the first kickstarter.
Sep 21, 2016 11:32 AM - JeffTheMess: like I said the good ol' days ")
Sep 21, 2016 11:33 AM - Printed Solid: Mark, Geof, and I have put out a call to Robo requesting more mod support because we know we're going to need it. Of course, crickets has been the response so far... If anyone is interested, I imagine they will respond eventually and we can beef things up.
Sep 21, 2016 11:33 AM - bukkinfuzzin: This wasn't off kickstarter this was a £900.00p Robo R1 pla/abs wored for a week I put it on Ebay as a door stop and the new ones wuill be the same
Sep 21, 2016 11:34 AM - Printed Solid: There were some pretty serious rants in the early first kickstarter days. Seems like every other day someone would just loose it.
Sep 21, 2016 11:35 AM - bukkinfuzzin: Yes printed solid but they will not get this chicken twice
    Sep 21, 2016 11:35 AM - Printed Solid: lol.
Sep 21, 2016 11:35 AM - Geof: lol. you dont have a robo now?
Sep 21, 2016 11:35 AM - Printed Solid: I'm in the 'i can't believe they are running another kickstarter' camp.
Sep 21, 2016 11:36 AM - bukkinfuzzin: I can wheres the capital gone
Sep 21, 2016 11:36 AM - Printed Solid: yeah, but they just essentially went public on the australian exchange.
Sep 21, 2016 11:36 AM - JeffTheMess: it shouldn't be allowed, they had a very successful kickstarter, and are now a successful company, if they need another kickstarter they must be doing something wrong
    Sep 21, 2016 11:37 AM - Printed Solid: yup
Sep 21, 2016 11:37 AM - bukkinfuzzin: Yess I have a Robo with a naff heated bed and numerous other faults all within the guarantee period
Sep 21, 2016 11:38 AM - Geof: Indifferent here :D. if people are ok with backing...back away! lol. I will also take some money if they feel inclined enough :D
Sep 21, 2016 11:38 AM - bukkinfuzzin: he Robo management in a board room are known as the THICKET
Sep 21, 2016 11:39 AM - Geof: if your under warranty fill out a parts request and you should get a reply quickly. if you need help troubleshooting it start a thread and I'll be happy to help ya out.
Sep 21, 2016 11:40 AM - JeffTheMess: he probably long passed the period
Sep 21, 2016 11:41 AM - bukkinfuzzin: Geee when I bought mine there was no warranty parts request When I got this there was only about three of them running the show
Sep 21, 2016 11:43 AM - Geof: gotya. well if you want to troubleshoot your machine I'm happy to help out. parts are cheap for beta through R1+. throw a troubleshooting thread out there and lets get you printing again :D
Sep 21, 2016 11:43 AM - bukkinfuzzin: I probably know more about the Robo R1 than the majority here if they have now giot their act together then great I have had several printers since the R! debacle
    Sep 21, 2016 11:44 AM - Geof: lol
Sep 21, 2016 11:45 AM - bukkinfuzzin: It just makes me pissed when they stand there making promises they never keep and lie with a smile on their faces I see the got rid of the geezer who usedc tio take the flak Gerry I rember his name poor sod
Sep 21, 2016 11:48 AM - bukkinfuzzin: They hated it when it was on Ebay as a door stop or a hamster play ground
Sep 21, 2016 11:48 AM - bukkinfuzzin: There was no Robo on there for a while after that
Sep 21, 2016 11:50 AM - JeffTheMess: didn't someone take a dump on it too
Sep 21, 2016 11:51 AM - bukkinfuzzin: If they duid it would have been the best part of tht printer
Sep 21, 2016 11:52 AM - Printed Solid: I love that picture! Some loon (assuming a kid with too much of his parents $$) smashed up a robo with a sledgehammer and posted a pic of it with a dog turd on it.
Sep 21, 2016 11:52 AM - bukkinfuzzin: THe R1 was a great machine it was great but made so cheaply it was frustrating cables smoking etc

Sep 21, 2016 12:09 PM - Printed Solid: buk, I don't even think you could find a taz 4 now. I have a hard time getting parts for it when people come in.
Sep 21, 2016 12:09 PM - Printed Solid: You can get the 5 for a pretty good deal from a lot of places and the 6 is the latest and greatest.

Sep 21, 2016 4:53 PM - Toro1966: Have to say that while I love my Robo and I support the company, I think the new printers fell short of my expectations and won't buy one. Especially for 1200

    Sep 22, 2016 4:58 PM - danzca6: don't use the baby heater...get one that fits the build area :)
Sep 22, 2016 5:42 PM - Geof: Silly thing is the baby heater fits my needs lol! Ive never upgraded that on mine.
