    Oct 7, 2016 4:38 AM - danzca6: Interesting Kickstarter https://www.kickstarter.com/project...-alignment-tool-for-3d-printers?ref=discovery
Oct 7, 2016 4:40 AM - danzca6: I like my IR better than having to run my gcode through a custom app each time, but interesting idea
    Oct 7, 2016 5:44 AM - Geof: I'm a hardware guy...all the fancy stuff scares me :D
Oct 7, 2016 6:23 AM - JeffTheMess: good morning roboneers
Oct 7, 2016 6:24 AM - Geof: Good morning Jeff. Happy Friday.
    Oct 7, 2016 6:26 AM - JeffTheMess: that indeed
    Oct 7, 2016 11:06 AM - Toro1966: Hol everyone
    Oct 7, 2016 11:06 AM - Toro1966: Hola
    Oct 7, 2016 11:34 AM - BryZad: How is everyone doing ?
Oct 7, 2016 12:00 PM - Geof: Hi toro and bryzad
Oct 7, 2016 5:31 PM - Toro1966: Hey guys - relaoded computer and I am re-entering my scripts in S3D. Yes, I saved the profile, but want to start from scratch. Anything wrong with this script?
    Oct 7, 2016 5:31 PM - Toro1966: G28 ; home all axes G1 Z5 F5000 ; lift nozzle M565 Z-.68 ; set the offset for auto-leveling mechanism G29 ; probe the bed M109 S[extruder0_temperature] ; set the extruder temp and wait G28 X0 Y0 ; home again to start wipe G1 X20 Z0 F4800 ; wipe
    Oct 7, 2016 6:07 PM - danzca6: I think that is what I am using
Oct 7, 2016 7:26 PM - Stoph: I've had something strange happen just now
Oct 7, 2016 7:27 PM - Stoph: its as if my X and Y travel skips a full 10mm and offsets the print by that much
Oct 7, 2016 7:27 PM - Stoph: I can hear a little bit of a crunch just before it goes bad
Oct 7, 2016 7:27 PM - Stoph: not sure if thats belt skipping?
    Oct 7, 2016 7:27 PM - Stoph: Y belt is plenty tensioned
Oct 7, 2016 7:28 PM - Stoph: but it does it after a couple of solid layers laid down fien
    Oct 7, 2016 7:28 PM - Stoph: fine*
Oct 7, 2016 7:28 PM - Stoph: its like it gets to the third layer in and it jumps
Oct 7, 2016 7:35 PM - Stoph: X was relatively loose. retensioned now. Hope that solves it!
Oct 7, 2016 8:11 PM - Stoph: fixed. phew. didn't wanna waste another half hour before I knew it could be left to itself haha

Oct 7, 2016 9:11 PM - Stoph: hmm. not fixed. got an hour in this time before it decided to massively offset again.
Oct 7, 2016 9:16 PM - Stoph: definitely just the X axis, I'm printing at 45 degrees cause the print won't fit at right angles, so its just the X
    Oct 7, 2016 9:17 PM - Stoph: I should say Y. I mean Y.
Oct 8, 2016 5:58 AM - Geof: Hi stoph, the x belt should twang if you pluck it not thud. also look for a loose.timing pulley. Always a good idea to start a troubleshooting thread.
Oct 8, 2016 5:58 AM - Geof: Good morning all.
    Oct 8, 2016 10:30 AM - jbigler1986: Wtf is going on here
    Oct 8, 2016 10:44 AM - danzca6: Hey JB... Long time
Oct 8, 2016 10:59 AM - Geof: Jbigler not sure which part you mean ? The colors ? Lol
Oct 8, 2016 11:45 AM - Toro1966: Hey guys - getting very frustrated here. Trying to upload the firmware to change the thermistor value for the new E3DV6 - I did nothing else. And I keep getting this error:
    Oct 8, 2016 11:45 AM - Toro1966: Arduino: 1.6.12 (Mac OS X), Board: "Arduino/Genuino Mega or Mega 2560, ATmega2560 (Mega 2560)" In file included from sketch/Marlin.h:23:0, from sketch/BlinkM.cpp:5: sketch/pins.h:2564:0: warning: "X_MAX_PIN" redefined #define X_MAX_PIN -1 ^ In file included from sketch/Marlin.h:23:0, from sketch/BlinkM.cpp:5: sketch/pins.h:445:0: note: this is the location of the previous definition #define X_MAX
Oct 8, 2016 11:47 AM - Toro1966: I also went back and tried to load the firmware PRIOR to changing it and I get the same error.
    Oct 8, 2016 11:53 AM - Toro1966: so I can't update the firmware to use the new hotend.... &^%!
Oct 8, 2016 12:05 PM - danzca6: Is there more to that error? What version of arduino are you using
    Oct 8, 2016 12:08 PM - danzca6: Does it mention struct fpos_t
Oct 8, 2016 12:10 PM - Toro1966: Nope - that was it to the error. I was using 1.6.12. went back to 1.6.9 and it uploaded and compiled fine...
    Oct 8, 2016 12:10 PM - Toro1966: Yes - it mentioned struct f pos.
Oct 8, 2016 12:11 PM - Toro1966: that was the error on the screen.
    Oct 8, 2016 12:19 PM - Toro1966: I assume you've seen that struct fpos_t error Danz?
    Oct 8, 2016 12:26 PM - danzca6: Yep
Oct 8, 2016 12:27 PM - danzca6: Read my comment at the bottom of the firmware download page
Oct 8, 2016 12:27 PM - danzca6: You need to do a global search and replace to rename that
Oct 8, 2016 12:30 PM - Toro1966: Well they need to fix that crap :)
Oct 8, 2016 12:30 PM - Toro1966: Also - did you find you need higher or lower temps to print with the e3d vs stock hex
    Oct 8, 2016 12:30 PM - danzca6: Agreed
    Oct 8, 2016 12:30 PM - danzca6: No it should be OK
    Oct 8, 2016 12:31 PM - Toro1966: So same temps?
    Oct 8, 2016 12:33 PM - danzca6: Yeah
Oct 8, 2016 12:36 PM - Toro1966: Cool. Going to post my first later in a bit. Think I need some adjustments but want to double check with you experts first :)
Oct 8, 2016 3:15 PM - Toro1966: Still have some tweaking but not bad. Really wish leveling this bed was easier...
    Oct 8, 2016 3:15 PM - Toro1966: So much for "auto" leveling...
Oct 8, 2016 3:32 PM - Toro1966: What process do you guys for leveling before you start prinitng for the day? I am assuming you just don't just turn it on, spray the bed and go - because I have NEVER been able to do that. No matter what kind of leveling I do with this bed. I have adjusted the switches on each side - paper leveled, etc. The only thing I have found that works remotely consistently is before the printing for the day I will do the paper test and adjust the
Oct 8, 2016 3:33 PM - Toro1966: rods a slight bit. Then I might have to try once or twice to ensure the z offset is correct, though it is usually at around .7 after the manual paper leveling. Just looking for an easier way if there is one.
    Oct 8, 2016 3:34 PM - Toro1966: I meant -.7
Oct 8, 2016 5:30 PM - danzca6: Hmmm....I do just turn mine on, spray every so many printed, and print. My leveling is done by an IR height sensor. No nozzle touching the bed or z limit switches.
    Oct 8, 2016 5:32 PM - danzca6: I also don't have dual z stepper drivers which I have suspected being a possible issue for r1+ leveling. Just a theory
Oct 8, 2016 5:42 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Danz. Probably over the next couple of months I intend to change to standard ramps board and rewire to single stepper driver. Maybe that will cure some ills.
Oct 8, 2016 5:43 PM - Toro1966: Also - I have Geof's retratcion settings but was wondering if I could get a screenshot of your retraction settings - both under the extruder tab and the advanced tab. Want to compare them against the S3D default for the Robo on a clean install. Do you think you could shoot me a couple of pics?
Oct 8, 2016 6:09 PM - danzca6: They would be the same since I got his fff
    Oct 8, 2016 6:10 PM - danzca6: Haven't changed them yet
Oct 8, 2016 6:12 PM - Geof: Hello gents hows it going.
    Oct 8, 2016 6:15 PM - danzca6: Going well Geof
    Oct 8, 2016 6:15 PM - danzca6: How's your weekend been
Oct 8, 2016 6:20 PM - Geof: Good. Printing up a storm lol
    Oct 8, 2016 6:20 PM - Geof: Hows about yourself ?
Oct 8, 2016 6:21 PM - danzca6: Been dog sitting for my dad and taking care of our dog who had surgery yesterday
Oct 8, 2016 6:22 PM - Geof: Oh sorry to hear, hows the pup holding up ?
Oct 8, 2016 6:22 PM - danzca6: Good... Wearing the cone of shame talking it slow
Oct 8, 2016 6:25 PM - Geof: Man that sucks. Got a husky and a yorkie, cant imagine
    Oct 8, 2016 7:25 PM - Toro1966: Lol - I have a mastiff - that would be one big damn cone!

Oct 9, 2016 5:07 AM - Bill Monroe: Yorkies rock. I have a "porkie" (yorkie/pomerainian) and a golden retriever.. neither will bother a wound if I tell them not to.. no lampshades required. :) Dogs are amazing.
Oct 9, 2016 6:14 AM - Geof: Yes they are bill. Mines 20 lbs....lol bug for a yorkie but the 80lb husky just does what he wants lol might need 2 cones for him
    Oct 9, 2016 7:04 AM - Toro1966: MOrning all.
Oct 9, 2016 7:06 AM - Toro1966: Finally got the E3DV6 installed and working. Here are a few pics.

    Oct 9, 2016 7:56 AM - Geof: Hi toro. Fantastic work !
    Oct 9, 2016 8:13 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
Oct 9, 2016 8:58 AM - Geof: Good morning Bill.
Oct 9, 2016 12:18 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Geof! Sorry for the delayed response. Had to go to Micro center for some more filament
Oct 9, 2016 12:36 PM - Geof: Can never have to much :)
    Oct 9, 2016 1:34 PM - Toro1966: Never. This is what I am making now.http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1054232
Oct 9, 2016 2:12 PM - danzca6: That looks cool Toro...is that glow in the dark or is there a light that goes into it?
Oct 9, 2016 2:26 PM - danzca6: That Fischertechnik 3d printer Tom built today is crap
Oct 9, 2016 2:27 PM - danzca6: could do better with a 3d doodle pen and a lego mindstorm set
    Oct 9, 2016 2:28 PM - danzca6: finally printing http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:919475
Oct 9, 2016 2:49 PM - danzca6: anyone check out https://www.facebook.com/86duino ? they have some fun designs to print
Oct 9, 2016 2:50 PM - danzca6: it's all in chinese, but I just go by the pictures
Oct 9, 2016 3:11 PM - Toro1966: Hey Danz - yup it's glow int he dark skull. I have some hatchbox glow green pla I have been looking forward to trying.
Oct 9, 2016 3:13 PM - danzca6: just beware that glow in the dark filament can be rough on brass nozzles
Oct 9, 2016 3:14 PM - Toro1966: Really - thanks. Didn't know that. Thought was just the metallics
Oct 9, 2016 3:14 PM - Toro1966: Might have to buy a couple extra nozzles or a hardened nozzle. How will I be able to tell if the nozzle is taking a beating?
    Oct 9, 2016 3:16 PM - danzca6: https://printedsolid.com/collections/1-75mm-filament/products/colorfabb-glowfill
Oct 9, 2016 3:17 PM - danzca6: I would just get a hardened nozzle up front before you start printing with it
Oct 9, 2016 3:17 PM - danzca6: look at the notice on the link I just posted
Oct 9, 2016 3:17 PM - Geof: Toro i can verify that lol 13 hr graphica ghost ruined my brass cuz i was to lazy to change
Oct 9, 2016 3:17 PM - Geof: And hi gents
    Oct 9, 2016 3:17 PM - danzca6: Hey Geof
Oct 9, 2016 3:18 PM - Geof: How goes it Danz
Oct 9, 2016 3:18 PM - danzca6: going well...finally got some time to sit and play with the printer
Oct 9, 2016 3:19 PM - danzca6: changing to the latest bug fix of RC7 changed a lot for me and I had to recalibrate things
Oct 9, 2016 3:19 PM - Geof: Awesome! They need attention or the gnomes get em
    Oct 9, 2016 3:20 PM - danzca6: indeed
Oct 9, 2016 3:20 PM - danzca6: gave her some oil as well and she is running pretty quiet right now
Oct 9, 2016 3:21 PM - Bill Monroe: that works for 2.0 too
    Oct 9, 2016 3:22 PM - danzca6: lmao
    Oct 9, 2016 3:22 PM - danzca6: how are you Bill
Oct 9, 2016 3:22 PM - danzca6: did you get your gas line on the plane fixed
Oct 9, 2016 3:22 PM - Bill Monroe: pretty good super tired.. just laying by the pool today
    Oct 9, 2016 3:23 PM - danzca6: ha...sweatshirt weather up here
Oct 9, 2016 3:23 PM - Bill Monroe: I did.. ran it around yesterday afternoon.. just gotta install some lights on a few instruments and it'll be time to button it up
    Oct 9, 2016 3:24 PM - Bill Monroe: it's just over 90 here today
Oct 9, 2016 3:24 PM - danzca6: that was scary when I saw that video come up...good thing you caught it
Oct 9, 2016 3:25 PM - danzca6: yeah my dad is heading back to FL next Sunday because he says it is too cold up here
Oct 9, 2016 3:27 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Geof. So I should just buy an dreplace before printing with the Glow? If so, do I have to change back to brass, or can i keep using the hardened nozzle for everything?
Oct 9, 2016 3:28 PM - danzca6: hardened is good to go for anything
    Oct 9, 2016 3:28 PM - danzca6: oh man...did I just say that
    Oct 9, 2016 3:30 PM - Toro1966: lol. Should I also get the .25 or .8?
Oct 9, 2016 3:31 PM - Geof: Lol yes hardened nozzle for.all things is fine. Its like an oiler, doesnt hurt but doesnt help
Oct 9, 2016 3:31 PM - Geof: I went with .8 for filled materials. Less jams
Oct 9, 2016 3:34 PM - Geof: Dowsnt hurt to have small nozzles in hardened but fills like to jam
Oct 9, 2016 3:37 PM - danzca6: man this falcon is printing awesome minus some stringing...I need to adjust for that. Already took the temp and speed down and think retraction is the next thing I need to adjust.
Oct 9, 2016 3:37 PM - Geof: How long is it of a print ? How big ?
    Oct 9, 2016 3:38 PM - danzca6: Says 15 hours and it is about 8" tall
Oct 9, 2016 3:39 PM - danzca6: a friend from work gave my son a star wars book their kid had doubles of, so this is a gift in return for her son
Oct 9, 2016 3:40 PM - danzca6: the link to the model is about an hour up in the SB
Oct 9, 2016 3:43 PM - Geof: Thats pretty nice of you!
    Oct 9, 2016 3:44 PM - danzca6: nah...just a thank you for her son
Oct 9, 2016 3:44 PM - danzca6: hey...what do you think the cost for shipping is going to be for that tivo tarantula?
    Oct 9, 2016 3:45 PM - Geof: Free now :)
    Oct 9, 2016 3:45 PM - danzca6: oh shoot....didn't see that
Oct 9, 2016 3:45 PM - danzca6: I was thinking half s&h from AU would be a good bit to pay
Oct 9, 2016 3:45 PM - Geof: Yea man and they shortened the days
    Oct 9, 2016 3:46 PM - danzca6: nice
Oct 9, 2016 3:47 PM - danzca6: can't say I totally agree with some of the content the hotend has put out lately as far as family friendly, but still an interesting channel. cool he has his dad involved now.
Oct 9, 2016 3:50 PM - Geof: He is an alright guy to watch but not the best by any means.
    Oct 9, 2016 3:50 PM - Geof: I perfer tom, chuck, and
Oct 9, 2016 3:50 PM - Geof: Angus*** and joel
Oct 9, 2016 3:51 PM - Geof: Dont watch religiously but now and then
    Oct 9, 2016 4:04 PM - danzca6: Agreed
Oct 9, 2016 4:12 PM - Geof: Danz hopefulky mk2 will be here this week
Oct 9, 2016 4:17 PM - danzca6: Awesome... Can't wait to hear how it compares
Oct 9, 2016 4:17 PM - Geof: To which one lol
Oct 9, 2016 4:21 PM - Geof: The sigma is....temperamental this week lol
    Oct 9, 2016 4:41 PM - Geof: Owch...just breezed through toms build today...that's a rough froggy lol
    Oct 9, 2016 4:58 PM - Toro1966: Tarantula or Black Widow?
Oct 9, 2016 4:59 PM - Toro1966: I am still up for the mk2, but I did notice the reviews ont hose two.
    Oct 9, 2016 4:59 PM - danzca6: That is.. Needs a cooling fan
Oct 9, 2016 5:05 PM - Geof: Thing looks like legos lol
    Oct 9, 2016 5:06 PM - danzca6: That's what I thought Geof
Oct 9, 2016 5:16 PM - Geof: Lol. No thanks :) have enough issues without having ALL plastic parts haha
    Oct 9, 2016 5:48 PM - Toro1966: Lol
Oct 9, 2016 6:05 PM - Toro1966: Here are the stock retraction settings for the R1+ in S3D. Definitely getting stringing so I am going to have to adjust. I notice that Geof - you have the first two unchecked and you have the minimu travel for retraction block checked and set to 1.00 mm
    Oct 9, 2016 6:05 PM - Toro1966: [IMG]
    Oct 9, 2016 6:12 PM - danzca6: Did you watch Maker's Muse about s3d retraction settings
Oct 9, 2016 6:12 PM - Toro1966: I did - decent - but basically said try a bunch of different things to see what works
Oct 9, 2016 6:13 PM - Toro1966: It's almost like it is witch doctor voodoo magic because there really is no one cure - you just play around with different stuff until you find something that works.
Oct 9, 2016 6:13 PM - Toro1966: I was priitng at 200 and lowered to 195 to see if that helped.
Oct 9, 2016 6:14 PM - Geof: Whats the question toro? I adjust temp to get rid of stringing then increase retraction if needed. It changes brand to brand, shipment to shipment, filament to filament IMO
Oct 9, 2016 6:16 PM - Toro1966: I am at 195 and will probably lower a little bit - but don't want to lower too much and get a clog. I have retraction at 1.6 but am going to up it to 1.8 next time. I was also retracting at 30 retraction speed because that was default but am upping thast to 40 which is what was in your fff
Oct 9, 2016 6:16 PM - danzca6: I lowered to 190 tonight to get my stringing gone... That and speed
    Oct 9, 2016 6:16 PM - Toro1966: I am only prinitng at 40mm
    Oct 9, 2016 6:16 PM - Toro1966: /s
    Oct 9, 2016 6:17 PM - danzca6: The power of an lcd
Oct 9, 2016 6:17 PM - Toro1966: what speed were you at danz?
Oct 9, 2016 6:17 PM - danzca6: I was at 55 and lowered it to 88%until past the point that was stringing and cranked things back
Oct 9, 2016 6:18 PM - Toro1966: Yup. Love the LCD. Actually been printing from SD card all day :)

Oct 9, 2016 6:18 PM - danzca6: My usb recently has been goofy so SD printing is the only way for me now
Oct 9, 2016 6:19 PM - Toro1966: ahh. My son stole my pc because it was VR ready and he just got an oculus... He has a gaming laptop but it wasn't good enough (video card) , so I have ben using my Macbook pro reformatted with win 10 as well
Oct 9, 2016 6:59 PM - Geof: Im running a job on all the printers... .1 layer height just shy of 4 hour each. 40 of them....like watching paint dry lol
    Oct 9, 2016 7:00 PM - Toro1966: You have 40 printer?!!
Oct 9, 2016 7:00 PM - Geof: Lol no the job is 40
    Oct 9, 2016 7:00 PM - Geof: I have 4 currently
    Oct 9, 2016 7:00 PM - Toro1966: I was getting ready to say.
    Oct 9, 2016 7:00 PM - Toro1966: I mean be very very jealous!
Oct 9, 2016 7:01 PM - Geof: Lol :) im busy but not that busy lol! If have to hire help for that kinda nonsense haha
Oct 9, 2016 7:01 PM - Toro1966: I just need to get my own youtube channel and have people send me $5000 printers
Oct 9, 2016 7:01 PM - Geof: Lol when tou get sick of one ship it to me would ya
    Oct 9, 2016 7:23 PM - danzca6: 1 layer height?
    Oct 9, 2016 7:28 PM - Geof: Yessir
    Oct 9, 2016 7:28 PM - Geof: .1 ll
Oct 9, 2016 7:29 PM - Geof: Good lord .1 mm layer height lol
Oct 9, 2016 7:29 PM - Geof: I can't type on these darn touchscreens lol
Oct 9, 2016 7:35 PM - Toro1966: Just ordered my hardened nozzle from printed solid
    Oct 9, 2016 7:35 PM - Geof: Nice!
Oct 9, 2016 7:36 PM - Toro1966: Also ordered an extra regular bronze nozzle just in case.
    Oct 9, 2016 7:36 PM - Geof: Haven't seen that one
Oct 9, 2016 7:37 PM - Toro1966: I have to figure out how to tell if I have enough filament on the spool for a job. Sorry meant brass
Oct 9, 2016 7:38 PM - Toro1966: I know you get a weight estimate from S3D but how do I tell how much I have left on the spool? Does the spool have a standard weight?
Oct 9, 2016 7:39 PM - Toro1966: The spool itself. That way I could weigh and subtract the weight of an empty spool to get the amount of filament on it
    Oct 9, 2016 7:39 PM - Geof: I guess :)
Oct 9, 2016 7:40 PM - Geof: I don't leave mine unattended, if they run overnight I make sure a full spool is on
Oct 9, 2016 7:44 PM - Geof: I suppose weigh a full 1 kg spool, take that - 2.2 lbs and the extra would be the spool?
Oct 9, 2016 7:45 PM - Toro1966: That supposes they actually put the 2.2 lbs on the spool :)
Oct 9, 2016 7:46 PM - Geof: Lol yes :) thats why i guess or do a full spool. Save the partial for little stuff :) or times i can mo nitor for filament change
Oct 9, 2016 7:47 PM - Geof: Im off for the night gents. See you guys tomorrow. Have a goodnight
Oct 9, 2016 7:47 PM - Toro1966: Lol. Yup. I run mine overnight routinely and I set an alarm so my dumb ass can wake up and check it lol
    Oct 9, 2016 7:48 PM - Toro1966: See you tomorrow Geof.

Oct 10, 2016 at 6:44 AM - Toro1966: MOrning guys - have a quick question for everyone. I am tried for the first time to update the z offset on the fly via the LCD. Are the values positive or negative? I ask because if I go into the LCD and look at my z offset, it is correct at -.70
Oct 10, 2016 at 6:45 AM - Toro1966: However, when I push the button to start adjusting it - it says "Z offset: .50" It does not say negative and I can dial it in the negative position to make it negative. Does that make sense?
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:02 AM - danzca6: I know Mike Glass mentioned doing it from within S3D, but don't you need micro stepping enabled in the firmware for it to work properly? Never tried it myself. Would be nice when you have to do it on the fly instead of printing a first layer, observe, adjust, repeat
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:03 AM - Toro1966: I thought you could do it from the LCD - no?
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:03 AM - Toro1966: How do I enable microstepping in the firmware?
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:04 AM - Toro1966: i thought that was the purpose of the LCD to do things like that? I also don't understand why it doesn't show negative. Unless it is inherently negative - if that makes sense.
    Oct 10, 2016 at 7:07 AM - danzca6: like I said, never done it
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:07 AM - danzca6: there is the menu item in the lcd
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:08 AM - danzca6: I did upgrade to the Marlin RC7 and have been printing with that. Not sure if microstepping was enabled by WW or not in it
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:08 AM - danzca6: I can check when I get home and my Millenium Falcon finishes
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:09 AM - Toro1966: Thanks Danz. Think I might create a thread as well. Appreciate it brother!
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:09 AM - danzca6: after all of the calibrating and firmware changes I did this weekend I had to set my offset again. It was about .8mm off. First time I've touched it in about 6 mounths
    Oct 10, 2016 at 7:09 AM - danzca6: isn't there a thread about it already?
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:10 AM - Toro1966: Searched - but maybe my google fu is weak this morning.
    Oct 10, 2016 at 7:10 AM - Toro1966: I'll try again.
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:10 AM - Geof: Toro search baby stepping

Oct 10, 2016 at 7:12 AM - danzca6: that talks about MC, but maybe this is still on topic
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:16 AM - Toro1966: saw that thread earlier in my search but it was bout MC - and I am trying to do it with the LCD.
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:19 AM - danzca6: if you start a new thread I'm sure WW will chime in.
    Oct 10, 2016 at 7:21 AM - Toro1966: Cool. Thanks!
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:23 AM - danzca6: not sure if he is currently using it, but would be able to direct you to what in the firmware needs to be in place
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:27 AM - danzca6: and he is online now
    Oct 10, 2016 at 7:28 AM - Toro1966: Thanks!
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:40 AM - Toro1966: Still getting alot of stringing. I'm down to 190 in temp. I have retraction distance set at 1.8 and retractions speed set at 40mm.
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:49 AM - WheresWaldo: Boy @danzca6 has a lot of faith that I am willing to help people.
    Oct 10, 2016 at 7:50 AM - danzca6: haha
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:50 AM - danzca6: you are the man WW
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:50 AM - WheresWaldo: @Toro1966 what type of filament are you trying to use.
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:51 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan when are you going to give up on auto leveling and move to MESH?
    Oct 10, 2016 at 7:52 AM - danzca6: I know I should just do it
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:52 AM - danzca6: might give it a go this weekend
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:53 AM - Toro1966: Waldo I am using the RObo black filament
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:53 AM - WheresWaldo: I know you will like it.
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:53 AM - WheresWaldo: PLA black
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:53 AM - Toro1966: But I also just replaced my hot end to the E3DV6
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:53 AM - Toro1966: prints look great but getting stringing
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:53 AM - danzca6: did you PID tune after that?
    Oct 10, 2016 at 7:54 AM - Toro1966: No I didn't
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:54 AM - danzca6: with a thermistor change it might be something to do to make sure your temps stay on track
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:55 AM - WheresWaldo: Good call Dan, Toro it is real easy to do. M303 with some parameters will do it for you then just edit the firmware with the results.
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:55 AM - Toro1966: I am generally good at following TOms videos, but he goes pretty quickly on that video and then talks about what he is going to input, but never inputs that. Makes it very confusing
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:55 AM - Toro1966: Think that could be the issue?
    Oct 10, 2016 at 7:56 AM - WheresWaldo: http://reprap.org/wiki/G-code#M303:_Run_PID_tuning
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:56 AM - WheresWaldo: Maybe, but if the base didn't look so smooth my first guess would be some extrusion multiplier issue.
Oct 10, 2016 at 7:57 AM - Toro1966: Thanks Waldo and Dan - I'll try it. Then I'll download and try a stringing file. The base is fine
    Oct 10, 2016 at 7:57 AM - Toro1966: Nice and smooth
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:00 AM - Toro1966: Again - print seems to look good, just a lot of stringing. I also po
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:02 AM - danzca6: I updated your thread, but you might also want to do an extrusion calibration after the PID tuning just in case.
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:02 AM - Toro1966: also for the pid auto tune would it be something like "M303 E0 S190 C10"
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:02 AM - Toro1966: That makes sense Dan thanks.
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:03 AM - danzca6: If 190 is the temp you are going to be working with, then yes I think that will do
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:04 AM - WheresWaldo: After I PID tune I usually build a small hollow tower there every cm I change the temp by 5°C to make sure I am in the proper range. Then I don't have to fuss with it trying to print a real model.
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:05 AM - Toro1966: So I will do PID auto tune and then calibrate the extruder and print a stringing file.
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:06 AM - WheresWaldo: The model called Deprime Test is a good one, search for Deprime on Thingiverse.
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:08 AM - Toro1966: Do you have a sliced S3D file I could use Waldo - not that advanced yet :)
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:09 AM - WheresWaldo: There are a bunch of temp towers on Thingiverse too, some are pretty fancy. I will look for my file, but I did a big HDD clearing a couple of months ago. It might be gone.
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:17 AM - Toro1966: Looking at how this next print is coming out - think I might be overextruding.
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:21 AM - WheresWaldo: If you change extruder multiplier, remember to just change the hundredths digit.
    Oct 10, 2016 at 8:23 AM - Toro1966: [IMG]
    Oct 10, 2016 at 8:24 AM - Toro1966: [IMG]
    Oct 10, 2016 at 8:25 AM - Toro1966: Thoughts?
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:25 AM - WheresWaldo: Hmm, what are your retraction numbers? Also it could simply be the black filament, it might ooze more than other colors.
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:26 AM - Toro1966: Looks like that that was the start of some supports. Don't remember seeing them look like that before.
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:27 AM - Toro1966: I have retarction distance set at 1.80. Retraction speed set at 40 mm/s. Here is my advanced tab - notice where the check marks are. Pic coming
    Oct 10, 2016 at 8:29 AM - Toro1966: [IMG]
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:30 AM - WheresWaldo: ALready saw yours, uncheck "only retract when crossing open spaces" Check "Perform retraction during wipe movement"
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:31 AM - WheresWaldo: Change "Retraction Speed" to 1200 mm/min. I think 2400 is too fast.
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:35 AM - Toro1966: ave to run for a few. Back in a bit.
    Oct 10, 2016 at 8:35 AM - Toro1966: Wow - that's pretty slow - only 20mm/s
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:36 AM - WheresWaldo: You are not trying to remove filament just relieve the back pressure.
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:37 AM - Toro1966: Ok- unchecked only retract when crossing open spaces and checked perform retraction during wipe movement. But since I don't have wipe enabled in the extruder tab - that shouldn't do anything - correct?
    Oct 10, 2016 at 8:37 AM - Toro1966: SI that what you use Waldo - 20?
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:43 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah, correct, but just in case you enable it it will be set. I use Retraction Speed of 20 mm/sec on the Robo and it works fine, I rarely see any retraction issues.
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:45 AM - Toro1966: Thanks for all of your help. I really appreciate it.
Oct 10, 2016 at 8:46 AM - Toro1966: When you build your hollow tower and change temps, what is your star and stop temp? Also in s3d do you need a different process for ach temp?
Oct 10, 2016 at 9:01 AM - WheresWaldo: I usually use the printed range on the box or sticker on the spool, So if PLA is 180 - 220 I start at 180° and go 5 up each 1 cm until I am at 220° for the last cm, easy to do in S3D.
Oct 10, 2016 at 9:02 AM - WheresWaldo: I also try to built print it in VASE mode so it is only one perimeter wide.
Oct 10, 2016 at 9:03 AM - Toro1966: Thanks - problem with robo filament is they dont print a range on it :)
Oct 10, 2016 at 9:05 AM - WheresWaldo: It is a good way to see the actual output. Your tower will get super smooth in the right temperature section, Use Hatchbox printed range or MatterHackers or eSUN, most PLA print in the same range.
Oct 10, 2016 at 9:06 AM - Toro1966: Will do. You just set up a separate process for each and change layer under the advanced tab - correct?
Oct 10, 2016 at 9:06 AM - Toro1966: so the first process I would do 180 from 0-10mm, then the next from 10-20, etc - correct?
Oct 10, 2016 at 9:09 AM - WheresWaldo: I created a test process, so it is apart from the rest, and all it does is print with .25 mm layers and on the temperature tab changes the temp by 5° every 40 layers, with the Wait for temp enabled, it will leave a blob as it oozes at the temp change, but that is unimportant since you are looking for the 1 cm section not the edge. I also build it with 2 90° corners and 2 rounded corners to see if corners remain sharp and curves remain smooth.
Oct 10, 2016 at 9:11 AM - WheresWaldo: If you want to be fancy you can emboss the temp number on one side, I just build the model without the temps since my mind isn't totally gone and I can remember what temp I started at.
Oct 10, 2016 at 9:17 AM - WheresWaldo: I posted a tower in your thread, make sure you print with a brim to make it steady at the bottom.
    Oct 10, 2016 at 9:18 AM - WheresWaldo: It is 2cm x 2cm x 10cm
Oct 10, 2016 at 9:53 AM - Toro1966: LOl - Thanks Waldo. That's a bit fsancy for this newbie but I am going to give it a shot! Appreciate all the help.
    Oct 10, 2016 at 10:46 AM - Toro1966: Thanks Waldo!
Oct 10, 2016 at 10:54 AM - WheresWaldo: Is it working
Oct 10, 2016 at 11:36 AM - Toro1966: Unfortunately I have been printing the same piece for about 5 hours so I can't try it until this is done. Then I will PID auto tune, check the extrusion calibration, and print the file you sent in vase mode with zero infill to see if the stringing is still there.
Oct 10, 2016 at 11:38 AM - Toro1966: I started editing the fff though for the test column. So if I print at .25 layer height and I want a cm of each temp, I should change the temp every 40 layers - correct?
    Oct 10, 2016 at 11:41 AM - danzca6: 40x.25=10 and 10mm = 1cm so I would say correct
Oct 10, 2016 at 11:43 AM - danzca6: son contacted me and my 20hour print failed...will have to wait to get home and see why...it was so close to done...grrr
Oct 10, 2016 at 11:44 AM - danzca6: next time I'm running it with the webcam on
    Oct 10, 2016 at 11:44 AM - Toro1966: Damn sorry Dan.
Oct 10, 2016 at 11:45 AM - Toro1966: I wish I could use the webcam - have everythng to use Ocotprint - including RP3, and webcam, but my printer is in my basement and there is crappy wifi down there.
Oct 10, 2016 at 11:45 AM - Toro1966: So it routinely won't connect and when it does it jitters.
    Oct 10, 2016 at 11:45 AM - danzca6: run a wire
Oct 10, 2016 at 11:45 AM - danzca6: or is your webcam wireless

Oct 10, 2016 at 11:46 AM - Toro1966: webcam is plugged into RPI. I could run an ethernet cable downstairs, but too much of a pain. Big house and big basement and router is literally on the other side of the house.
Oct 10, 2016 at 11:47 AM - Toro1966: I have to say that this lantern is coming out fantstic. Even with the stringing I have had, it has not been very thick so very easy to take off with an exacto.
    Oct 10, 2016 at 11:48 AM - danzca6: that's good
Oct 10, 2016 at 11:49 AM - Toro1966: Pics after this next piece prints. Then all I have left is the skull. Think I am going to print with the non-hardened nozzle anyway. I bought an extra plus a hardend nozzle whihc will be here in a couple of days.
    Oct 10, 2016 at 11:49 AM - Toro1966: I am not a patient man :)
Oct 10, 2016 at 11:49 AM - danzca6: well...as long as you have a backup on its way
Oct 10, 2016 at 11:50 AM - danzca6: might get to see what the glow fill does to the nozzle depending on how long of a print it is for the skull
Oct 10, 2016 at 11:50 AM - Toro1966: Yup. Figured it was probably prudent.
Oct 10, 2016 at 11:52 AM - Toro1966: Wondering about this skull - thingiverse comments say it doesn't need supports. My concern is that it is fairly decent size and angled. What are your thoughts?
    Oct 10, 2016 at 11:53 AM - danzca6: if nothing else...maybe your .4 nozzle will turn into a .6 ... win win
    Oct 10, 2016 at 11:53 AM - Toro1966: [IMG]

Oct 10, 2016 at 11:53 AM - Toro1966: That's how it prints at an angle like that.
Oct 10, 2016 at 11:53 AM - danzca6: if that is how it is going to be oriented when printing, then use a raft
    Oct 10, 2016 at 11:54 AM - danzca6: it should be ok
Oct 10, 2016 at 11:54 AM - Toro1966: Never used a raft before. Are they easy to remove?
    Oct 10, 2016 at 11:54 AM - danzca6: s3d...yes
Oct 10, 2016 at 11:55 AM - Toro1966: What settings did you print your millenium falcon at?
    Oct 10, 2016 at 11:55 AM - danzca6: for the raft?
Oct 10, 2016 at 11:55 AM - Toro1966: Kind of pissed at S3D right now. Using a mac and have both OS installed (win10 and OSX). S3D says I need two licenses for this one computer... Not happy.
Oct 10, 2016 at 11:55 AM - Toro1966: No - just your print settings for the MF.
Oct 10, 2016 at 11:55 AM - Toro1966: Also for the raft I guess since I have never used one :)
Oct 10, 2016 at 11:57 AM - danzca6: I just used the defaults for the raft. Otherwise it was .2 layers, 190c/50c temps, 50mm/s speed
Oct 10, 2016 at 11:58 AM - Toro1966: Nice. Might have to try me one of those since I have a lot of family that like star wars. Makes a good gift.
Oct 10, 2016 at 11:59 AM - Toro1966: For the raft, the default I have says raft offset from part 3.0mm, separation distance .20, and raft infill 85%. Does that sound right?
    Oct 10, 2016 at 12:01 PM - danzca6: ah...honestly can't say
    Oct 10, 2016 at 12:01 PM - danzca6: I can check when I get home
Oct 10, 2016 at 12:02 PM - danzca6: it was the first time using it and don't remember the numbers
    Oct 10, 2016 at 12:05 PM - Toro1966: lol. No worries.
Oct 10, 2016 at 12:08 PM - danzca6: and since mine failed, I will need to see why before I can say those settings are ok...I hope it was something like a bulg in the filament
    Oct 10, 2016 at 12:25 PM - Toro1966: Good luck!
Oct 10, 2016 at 12:32 PM - danzca6: yeah doing a long print with questionable filament was not a smart idea...never had an issue with hatchbox...but I wanted it in silver and I had a cheapo brand of silver sitting on my desk.
Oct 10, 2016 at 12:33 PM - danzca6: If it is the filament, I'll print it again with whatever color of hatchbox I have handy and just spray paint it if needed
Oct 10, 2016 at 12:41 PM - Bill Monroe: yo
Oct 10, 2016 at 12:53 PM - Toro1966: Getting ready to run PID autotune. DO I do it with or without filament in the extruder or doesn't it matter?
Oct 10, 2016 at 12:59 PM - Bill Monroe: PID tweaking is a commonly misunderstood and highly over rated was to fix anything
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:01 PM - Bill Monroe: really, the best way to do it is while the printer is printing, but marlin doenst do that... lame
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:03 PM - danzca6: it gets you in the ballpark...the numbers will change if you run it 3 different times I swear
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:04 PM - danzca6: so yes, it isn't an exact science at all
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:06 PM - Bill Monroe: the temp controllers on my machine are independent fo the printing code.. .. you can run autotune while it's printing
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:07 PM - Bill Monroe: and it's autotune protgramming was done by people who know temp control managment... not an open-source group
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:14 PM - Toro1966: Ok ran PID autotune but don't know where to enter them in the firmware. I have config.h pulled up, but i only find those values under the bed PID settings
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:18 PM - danzca6: look above that section. the extruder values are just before the bed values.
    Oct 10, 2016 at 1:19 PM - danzca6: search for DEFAULT_Kp
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:20 PM - danzca6: you will see the Kp, Ki, and Kd values to update
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:21 PM - danzca6: just make sure you change the variables that are uncommented
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:21 PM - Toro1966: Think I found it in one of the trheads on here. I just replaced the values under the "ultimaker" heading. That's what was confusing since this is not an ultimaker.
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:23 PM - danzca6: yeah and I think the values that were there are just the defaults and robo never even changed them
    Oct 10, 2016 at 1:28 PM - Toro1966: Now I can't compile *&^%!!!!

    Oct 10, 2016 at 1:28 PM - Toro1966: Here's the error I am getting now.

    Oct 10, 2016 at 1:31 PM - Toro1966: It's not the changes I made either because I can't upload anything now.
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:31 PM - danzca6: what does the error say at the end
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:31 PM - danzca6: nothing else like s3d has a connection to the printer?

    Oct 10, 2016 at 1:32 PM - Toro1966: I restarted computer and S3D is closed out
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:33 PM - danzca6: I think when you paste it into SB it cuts the end of the error
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:34 PM - Toro1966: No - in arduino it asks to copy error messages - that's what I did and pasted
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:35 PM - Toro1966: Trying to copy the actual error language in orange, but for some reason it won't let me
    Oct 10, 2016 at 1:35 PM - Toro1966: so I'll type it

Oct 10, 2016 at 1:37 PM - danzca6: I know you print via SD card...is your USB plugged in? dumb question, but have to ask...and arduino is set to the correct port
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:38 PM - Toro1966: yes - plugged in and set to only port that shows arduino
    Oct 10, 2016 at 1:39 PM - Toro1966: same error
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:40 PM - danzca6: not sure if you accidently hit a key while on another line doing the edit
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:41 PM - Toro1966: Nope - that would make sense if it would let me install a previously updated firmware, but it won't do that either.
    Oct 10, 2016 at 1:42 PM - Toro1966: failed MSpanList_Insert 0x30f398 0x2294ebfd67 0x0 fatal error: MSpanList_Insert
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:42 PM - danzca6: have you updated arduino since that last update you did successfully?
    Oct 10, 2016 at 1:43 PM - danzca6: oh you are using a mac?
    Oct 10, 2016 at 1:43 PM - Toro1966: nope.
    Oct 10, 2016 at 1:43 PM - Toro1966: and yes mac
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:44 PM - Toro1966: Where is that line I need to do a global search and replace for in the latest version of arduino?
    Oct 10, 2016 at 1:44 PM - danzca6: fpos_t
    Oct 10, 2016 at 1:44 PM - danzca6: that is a different error though
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:46 PM - danzca6: so you are on your laptop right? Was the PC you gave to your son a mac as well?
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:46 PM - Toro1966: I know - but I want to switch to the windows side to install arduino and try again.
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:47 PM - danzca6: yeah that error points to a possible issue with mac and arduino
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:47 PM - danzca6: so if you can try on the windows side of the world that would be good to see if the error goes away
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:48 PM - danzca6: I just do a global search and replace of fpos_t to filepos_t to use on the newer versions of arduino with the old robo firmwares
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:49 PM - Toro1966: ok - going to do that now.
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:49 PM - Toro1966: on the windows side now.
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:49 PM - danzca6: ok...have to head home but will get on again in about 30 min
    Oct 10, 2016 at 1:49 PM - Toro1966: installing 6.1.12
Oct 10, 2016 at 1:50 PM - Toro1966: Do I have to search and replace in every firmware I have if I want to use 6.1.12? I ask because I have several versions so I can roll back if I need to.
    Oct 10, 2016 at 1:50 PM - Toro1966: thanks Dan
Oct 10, 2016 at 2:40 PM - danzca6: If you are using any of the Robo supplied firmware with anything newer than arduino 1.6.9 then yes you will have to make sure that struct is renamed
    Oct 10, 2016 at 2:41 PM - danzca6: http://arduino.cc/download_handler.php?f=/arduino-1.6.9-windows.exe
Oct 10, 2016 at 2:41 PM - danzca6: of you don't want to have to rename it each time
Oct 10, 2016 at 2:47 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Dan - not sure what the problem was. Switched to windows, installed 1.6.12, global searched and replaced the fpos_t with filepos_t, and uploaded - no issues....
Oct 10, 2016 at 2:47 PM - Toro1966: Looks like I might be buying another windows computer instead of another 3d printer *&^! The things we do for our kids.
    Oct 10, 2016 at 2:55 PM - danzca6: <cough> macs
Oct 10, 2016 at 2:55 PM - danzca6: so it was as expected....the filament had a bulge in it
Oct 10, 2016 at 2:56 PM - danzca6: what it printed looks awesome though
Oct 10, 2016 at 2:57 PM - Toro1966: You know what's funny is I have been a Mac guy for 10 years and I love them. What find frustrating is a lot of developers don't design their stuff with macs in mind. So in the end, I don't see it as a mac problem, but more of a lack of attention to detail of the developer problem. That said....I am currently booted into the windows side...:)
Oct 10, 2016 at 2:58 PM - Toro1966: How can you avoid the bulge int he filament? What kind are you using?

Oct 10, 2016 at 3:12 PM - danzca6: that stl is the modern MF from VII
    Oct 10, 2016 at 3:15 PM - Toro1966: cool. i didn't download them but I saw the two files
Oct 10, 2016 at 3:39 PM - Toro1966: did the PID autotune. Now I am calibrating the extruder. Seems like way too many Esteps based on my measurements
Oct 10, 2016 at 3:46 PM - Toro1966: Ok - I am stumped here. I cannot get the extruder calibrated the way it should be. I have actually had this problem for months, but I guess it was close enough it hasn't been killing my prints. No matter what I do to the esteps/mm, I can't get and stay where it extrudes consistently.
Oct 10, 2016 at 3:48 PM - Toro1966: The stock steps/mm are only like 768 or something. Mine were already at about 923. I set my temp at 190, because that's about where I like to print. The filament seems to flow fine and I don't clog. BUt when I extrude 100mm at 190, it never extrudes 190. If I up the temp to 195-200 it will extrude the proper amount, but not at 190.
Oct 10, 2016 at 3:51 PM - Toro1966: No matter what I change the esteps to - it won't consistently extrude 100mm. for example - I raised it three different times in intervals up to nearly 1200 steps/mm. It extruded 90, 97, 96, and then 95. I verified the correct settings were loaded in the printer through an M503 command each time.
    Oct 10, 2016 at 3:53 PM - Toro1966: Any thoughts?
Oct 10, 2016 at 4:01 PM - Toro1966: The only way I can get it to come close to extruding 100 is to raise the temp. There are no clogs. Cold pull confirmed plus this is a brand new hot end that has been seasoned, etc.
Oct 10, 2016 at 4:12 PM - danzca6: maybe 190 is just not the temp you should be using for that filament then...odd it happens that way, but I think it is trying to tell you something. Not sure what the true answer is
Oct 10, 2016 at 4:18 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Dan - but I don't believe that can be it. Doesn't make sense to me. And if it was the temp, the steps should be consistent. They aren't.. At 190, I move the esteps and it doesn't matter, it only underextrudes. Plus, the hotter the temp, the more stringing.
Oct 10, 2016 at 4:26 PM - Toro1966: What confuses me is that increasing the steps absolutely SHOULD increase the mm extruded. In my case, at 190, it doesn't do that. It does it somewhat at 195. Agin - doesn't make sense.
Oct 10, 2016 at 4:27 PM - Geof: Got the right thermistor type ? May be giving a false read of 190
    Oct 10, 2016 at 4:28 PM - Toro1966: Yep - it's 5 - correct? Also - I had this same issue with the stock thermistor.
Oct 10, 2016 at 4:30 PM - Toro1966: I have been using the RObo white to calibrate. Just for grins I changed to hatchbox Glow - it extruded just OVER 100. - it was almost perfect. WTF? Bad white RObo filament?
Oct 10, 2016 at 4:30 PM - Toro1966: As I recall correctly, I have been using the robo white the entire time to calibrate because it was easier to see the marks...
Oct 10, 2016 at 4:46 PM - Toro1966: Well We shall see what we've got - I just started printing with the glow fill for grins. Wish me luck! Thanks for putting up with me guys and for all of your awesome help[!
Oct 10, 2016 at 5:06 PM - danzca6: Temps and extrusion can change by filament

Oct 11, 2016 11:58 AM - danzca6: and would a laser cause a fire from not being ventilated? I can see toxic fumes if not mindful of what materials you are using
Oct 11, 2016 11:59 AM - daniel871: overheating the work material and/or flooding the work zone with unconsumed combustible dust.
Oct 11, 2016 12:00 PM - daniel871: Plus just ruining the function of the machine when the smoke from whatever they're burning coats the mirrors/etc.

    Oct 11, 2016 4:31 PM - Toro1966: Finsihed printing my Skull lantern

Oct 11, 2016 4:38 PM - Geof: Very cool. How long to print ?
    Oct 11, 2016 4:42 PM - Toro1966: About 35 hours all together
    Oct 11, 2016 4:43 PM - Toro1966: I was only printing at 40
    Oct 11, 2016 4:43 PM - Toro1966: .2 layer height
    Oct 11, 2016 4:43 PM - Toro1966: I guess it was closer to 25
Oct 11, 2016 4:48 PM - Geof: Pretty nice looking print.
    Oct 11, 2016 5:13 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Geof
Oct 11, 2016 5:21 PM - danzca6: That looks crazy cool for halloween
Oct 11, 2016 5:22 PM - danzca6: interested to see the nozzle when you replace it
    Oct 11, 2016 5:24 PM - Geof: The nozzle ?
Oct 11, 2016 5:26 PM - Toro1966: I just printed with a standard brass nozzle. That said, I didn't veen use 1/6th of the filament
    Oct 11, 2016 5:26 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Dan
Oct 11, 2016 5:31 PM - Geof: Ah gotya. Glow is rough on brass
Oct 11, 2016 5:38 PM - danzca6: Geof you probably saw this, but not sure if Toro has...how cool would it be to have Josef come to your house and get you started on the kit?
Oct 11, 2016 5:55 PM - Geof: Lol he can just send me a2nd printer haha. Cheaper for him that way
Oct 11, 2016 6:07 PM - Geof: Or at least get that forst one on the mail...ggrrrrr
Oct 11, 2016 6:12 PM - danzca6: did you ask him to sign it when you ordered? I heard he would if you put it in the order comments
Oct 11, 2016 6:13 PM - Toro1966: Did you get that printer yet Geof. .
    Oct 11, 2016 6:15 PM - danzca6: nope...hence the ggrrrrr
    Oct 11, 2016 6:24 PM - Toro1966: Lol. Didn't see that. Sorry.
Oct 11, 2016 6:25 PM - Toro1966: Hey Dan. Printing that millennium falcon for grins. It is tall!!!! I hope it fits.
Oct 11, 2016 6:25 PM - Toro1966: Good friend of my wife has a son who loves Star Wars and halo.
Oct 11, 2016 6:25 PM - danzca6: yeah wanted to make it bigger, but didn't want it hung up in the top of the printer
Oct 11, 2016 6:26 PM - Toro1966: Yeah. I know what you mean. It's almost at the top of the print volume as default.
    Oct 11, 2016 6:26 PM - Toro1966: Did you reprint yours?
Oct 11, 2016 6:27 PM - danzca6: not yet...I need to get it started, but would rather do it near the weekend. I'll be off again Friday so it will be a good day to let it just print all day
Oct 11, 2016 6:28 PM - Toro1966: I know what you mean. This says 10.5 hours which means more like 12. I started it about 2 hours ago.
    Oct 11, 2016 6:29 PM - Toro1966: Printing at 188 and .2 with inland gray pla.
    Oct 11, 2016 6:29 PM - danzca6: mine was almost twice that
    Oct 11, 2016 6:29 PM - danzca6: what infill did you do?
    Oct 11, 2016 6:29 PM - Toro1966: Printing speed is 40 I think
    Oct 11, 2016 6:29 PM - Toro1966: 15 I think
Oct 11, 2016 6:29 PM - danzca6: I was 25 and it was way too much for how it prints
    Oct 11, 2016 6:30 PM - Toro1966: I actually leave most on 15 unless I really need the strength.
Oct 11, 2016 6:31 PM - Toro1966: I wouldn't have thought 15-25 would have made that much difference in time.

Oct 12, 2016 2:26 AM - Toro1966: Morning all. Still going. A couple of more hours. Unfortunately I hvae to go to work so I can't check it until i get home this evening, but here's a status pic

Oct 12, 2016 4:24 AM - daniel871: This perfectly captures the current election cycle.
    Oct 12, 2016 4:54 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
Oct 12, 2016 5:08 AM - Geof: Good Morning Bill
    Oct 12, 2016 5:19 AM - danzca6: Why doesn't S3D have an option to enter speed mm/s instead of mm/min?
Oct 12, 2016 5:19 AM - danzca6: And why can't you specify 1st layer height as a difinitive amount like .3mm instead of a percentage?
Oct 12, 2016 5:20 AM - danzca6: two things that throw me going back and forth with Cura and S3D
Oct 12, 2016 5:26 AM - Bill Monroe: you can change to mm
Oct 12, 2016 5:27 AM - Bill Monroe: as far as first layer goes.. that's just what the programmers chose to do.. send them a suggestive email?
Oct 12, 2016 5:27 AM - Bill Monroe: or, bust out your calculator and dust off those 2nd grade math skills :)
    Oct 12, 2016 5:31 AM - danzca6: haha
Oct 12, 2016 5:31 AM - danzca6: where can you set it to mm?
Oct 12, 2016 5:33 AM - Bill Monroe: hang on.. post processor is running
    Oct 12, 2016 5:34 AM - Bill Monroe: tools:eek:ptions
    Oct 12, 2016 5:34 AM - Bill Monroe: bahaha
    Oct 12, 2016 5:34 AM - Bill Monroe: tools:eek:ptions
    Oct 12, 2016 5:34 AM - Bill Monroe: tools : options
    Oct 12, 2016 5:36 AM - danzca6: haha....don't you love emoticons
Oct 12, 2016 5:36 AM - danzca6: thanks bill I will check that tonight when I get home. Will make things a lot easier going between the two
Oct 12, 2016 5:37 AM - Bill Monroe: wait.. check the edit menu too.. near the bottom
Oct 12, 2016 5:37 AM - Bill Monroe: brb gotta try something on the CNC machine
    Oct 12, 2016 5:37 AM - danzca6: will do
Oct 12, 2016 5:41 AM - Bill Monroe: back.. success!
Oct 12, 2016 5:59 AM - Toro1966: hey Dan - millenium is progressing. Going to be close!
Oct 12, 2016 6:00 AM - danzca6: You freaked me out at first this morning
Oct 12, 2016 6:01 AM - danzca6: I saw the pic and was like, where did he get the pic of my MF
Oct 12, 2016 6:01 AM - danzca6: you were at the same place I was
    Oct 12, 2016 6:02 AM - Toro1966: Lol. Too funny.
    Oct 12, 2016 6:02 AM - Toro1966: It's hopefully done now but I won't know until I get home tonight....
Oct 12, 2016 6:03 AM - danzca6: I hate that...I would be just wanting to go home quick at break and see. Those top layers are a question mark with the wire loom and such getting tight
Oct 12, 2016 6:39 AM - daniel871: Spoiler alert: it fell over and broke the glass.
    Oct 12, 2016 6:50 AM - danzca6:  I hope not
Oct 12, 2016 7:27 AM - Toro1966: Doh - thanks Dan!! Let's hope not. I actually am not worrired about it breaking the glass, but it is defiitely tight up there, so we'll see. If it fails because it's too tall, atleast I can then go in and change the print volume....
Oct 12, 2016 7:37 AM - Geof: good way to look at it toro :D
Oct 12, 2016 7:38 AM - danzca6: I need to complete my cable chain...I think that will move better than the wire loom at the top of the z height
Oct 12, 2016 7:50 AM - Toro1966: I thought about making one of those too Dan, but since I was down for a whiel - all I want to do is print :)
Oct 12, 2016 7:51 AM - Toro1966: I am biting at the bti to order the mk2 as well, but what is holding me up is that I think I have to build a new pc to take the one my son stole from me - and that is abotu 1500 bones!
    Oct 12, 2016 7:51 AM - danzca6: amen
Oct 12, 2016 7:51 AM - danzca6: 1500? what the heck are you building there man? haha
Oct 12, 2016 7:52 AM - danzca6: I got a really nice one for less then 800 that handles my gaming, fusion 360, programming, and multiple monitors
Oct 12, 2016 7:53 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: the build of that fischertechnik printer is hilarious!
    Oct 12, 2016 7:53 AM - danzca6: the lego printer?
    Oct 12, 2016 7:53 AM - danzca6: haha
    Oct 12, 2016 7:53 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: lol!
    Oct 12, 2016 7:54 AM - danzca6: Tom has a lot of patience
Oct 12, 2016 7:54 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: its a pretty cool thing for younger kids though
Oct 12, 2016 8:05 AM - Toro1966: Found a decent VR Ready one for 999, but since I only buy one once every blue moon, figured I would do it right the first time...
    Oct 12, 2016 8:07 AM - danzca6: Oh you are looking for VR...I didn't mess with that
Oct 12, 2016 8:10 AM - danzca6: Man the site performance still seems to be suffering from yesterday
    Oct 12, 2016 8:11 AM - Geof: its dragging quite a bit
    Oct 12, 2016 8:11 AM - Toro1966: Agrred - very slow.
Oct 12, 2016 11:59 AM - daniel871: Bad news on that Monoprice Maker Select printer I've been so happy with. There have been a few bad prints due to layer shifting and it looks like the integrated stepper drivers in the control board are failing.
Oct 12, 2016 12:02 PM - Geof: Happens to the best of them
Oct 12, 2016 12:03 PM - daniel871: So now I'm trying to decide whether I want to go through the trouble of putting all the stock parts back on it and getting Monoprice to exchange it or just take my MiniBondtech off and use it on that Delta that should be coming in by year's end.
Oct 12, 2016 12:04 PM - daniel871: Mainly because the return policy for Monoprice has some language in it about returns having to be in the original packaging (long since gone since it's been about six months).
Oct 12, 2016 12:08 PM - danzca6: Can't you just upgrade to a ramps/arduino setup? Just update the latest Marlin firmware with the specifics and go?
Oct 12, 2016 12:14 PM - daniel871: That's a popular mod, but it basically involves gutting the control box and coming up with a custom mount for the Ramps (and requires a printer that still works properly for the printed adapters).
Oct 12, 2016 1:02 PM - danzca6: Well you can just hook everything up and not mount while it prints you the mount needed
Oct 12, 2016 2:57 PM - danzca6: Did Harry turn on verbose logging or what...this site is painfully slow
Oct 12, 2016 3:37 PM - Geof: Yea hard to focus in the last 2 days
    Oct 12, 2016 4:11 PM - Toro1966: Print came out!

Oct 12, 2016 4:15 PM - Gage: Where did you get the model for the Falcon?
    Oct 12, 2016 4:17 PM - Toro1966: thingiverse.
    Oct 12, 2016 4:18 PM - Gage: That's awesome! Great Print.
    Oct 12, 2016 4:18 PM - jim3Dbot: Toro......NICE job...you weren't falconin' around with that piece............. :)
Oct 12, 2016 4:20 PM - Geof: Toro awesome buddy
    Oct 12, 2016 4:22 PM - danzca6: No issues with the top...nice
Oct 12, 2016 4:26 PM - Toro1966: LOl. Thanks guys. I really appreciate it. Pretty psyched it came out!
Oct 12, 2016 4:30 PM - Toro1966: Was definitely close at the top, but made it.
Oct 12, 2016 4:31 PM - Toro1966: Was definitely close at the top, but made it.
    Oct 12, 2016 4:31 PM - Toro1966: This site sucks right now!
    Oct 12, 2016 4:31 PM - danzca6: now...all day dude
    Oct 12, 2016 4:43 PM - Toro1966: Tell me about it!
Oct 12, 2016 5:03 PM - Gage: Yeah I've been struggling with it too.

Oct 13, 2016 at 4:38 AM - Geof: Should be nice and brisk lol good morning all
Oct 13, 2016 at 4:45 AM - danzca6: Who needs caffeine to wake you up
Oct 13, 2016 at 4:46 AM - danzca6: It was actually 33 by the time I got to work.
Oct 13, 2016 at 4:46 AM - danzca6: Good news is it'll be 54 on the way home
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:13 AM - danzca6: This is an awesome project!
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:26 AM - Geof: that does look awesome
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:27 AM - danzca6: I've got to look into filament costs, but I really want to make one
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:27 AM - danzca6: Site is much faster today
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:30 AM - Geof: that does look pretty much and the site finally seems to be back up
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:30 AM - Toro1966: Thank goodness. Morning all.
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:30 AM - Geof: morning toro

Oct 13, 2016 at 5:31 AM - Geof: nice! Going for interview today lol so half day!
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:32 AM - danzca6: interview? good luck man!
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:32 AM - Geof: thanks man! Hoping to move to printing as a day job and not being a tech anymore lol
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:32 AM - danzca6: living the dream
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:33 AM - Geof: lol ! someones! we shall see what happens, not getting my hope up
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:35 AM - Geof: still no word on MK2
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:35 AM - danzca6: I keep searching the job posting sites for somewhere near me that would be dealing with 3d printers or similar all day.
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:36 AM - danzca6: darn...Josef needs to get back home and get to work
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:37 AM - Geof: not many places out doing it. Yea he does! I'm unhappy about the leadtime I wasn't aware of (5 days was what it said)
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:37 AM - Geof: but oh well what ya gonna do
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:38 AM - danzca6: oh, I have been commisioned to print http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:872684 for a lady in town for her husband as a gift
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:38 AM - danzca6: going to try to start making the big money like you ;)
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:39 AM - Geof: lol! big money?
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:39 AM - Geof: Thats a pretty cool print! should be easily done
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:39 AM - danzca6: well...enough to get another printer
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:39 AM - Geof: make sure you charge enough :D
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:40 AM - danzca6: I bought one of these to keep track of electricity costs as well as material costs https://amzn.com/B00009MDBU
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:41 AM - Geof: thats pretty cool. never thought about that. I just include that in operations, R+M, material and time
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:42 AM - danzca6: go figure she liked my failed MF so much that she wanted me to print this...I guess failures are not always a bad thing
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:43 AM - Geof: lol nope not a bad thing at all
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:43 AM - Geof: half the printed stuff laying around my house is fails or QA issues/tests lol
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:43 AM - danzca6: did you see the new benchy designed for dual extrusion?
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:44 AM - Geof: I did. too bad my sigma is being a whore lol
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:44 AM - Geof: I'm real close to just shipping the damn thing back
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:45 AM - danzca6: oh no...what is the issue?
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:46 AM - Geof: LOL what isn' the issue. most issues are from day 1 just trying to make it work. currently its just a mess. its got a new main board, but now the sd reader wants to poop out lol. thoguht it was fixed with new cables...no.... lol
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:46 AM - Geof: offset issues at the start that was "fixed" with beta firmware offsets lol
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:46 AM - Geof: blah... lol
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:46 AM - Geof: picky machine
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:47 AM - Geof: it runs most days...yesterday couldn't get one print lol
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:48 AM - danzca6: oh man...I guess dual extrusion is as much of a pita as advertised
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:49 AM - danzca6: if you can return and get another mk2 you might be better off
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:49 AM - Toro1966: That sucks. I REALLY want a second one. That way I can print multiple things at once. Printing out the Frankenstein head with the removable brain now for my wife for halloween. Frankie alone is a 23 hr print...
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:49 AM - Toro1966: He has to get the Mk 2 first :)
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:49 AM - Geof: I think most of the sigmas work well...I think I just have a .... lets say tempermental one lol
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:50 AM - danzca6: might as well get in the queue for the second
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:50 AM - Geof: lol nah the sigma is a great machine...just this one is poop lol. They'll make it right
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:50 AM - Geof: mk2 is nice...but not that nice :D
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:54 AM - Toro1966: I'll wait until the Robo's are $399 and then I'll buy another :)
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:54 AM - danzca6: sounds like that guy in CA is ready to throw his out...maybe he'll just charge you shipping
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:55 AM - Toro1966: lol. I saw that.
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:56 AM - Toro1966: I will say I get frustrated sometimes too, btu you shouldn't own one of these machines if you don't want to work on it
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:56 AM - Toro1966: they are not plug and play right now.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:56 AM - danzca6: agreed
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:59 AM - Toro1966: I was soo pissed at my son when he bought the Robo this summer. Not because he bought one, he had an Up mini already. Iwas pissed because he bought it on
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:59 AM - Toro1966: craigslist and didn't test it.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:59 AM - Toro1966: And I had never touched a 3d printer....
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:00 AM - Toro1966: Of course it didn't work....
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:00 AM - Toro1966: We spent three weeks fixing it - with all of you guys help :)
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:00 AM - Toro1966: But for 400 for a nearly new R1+, he got a steal!
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:01 AM - Geof: thats not bad at all. so he has the up mini and the robo?
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:01 AM - Toro1966: He sold the up mini just last week actually. Now he just has the Robo and I have one too.
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:02 AM - Toro1966: The quality of the prints ont he Up mini was not great, but more importantly it was the small size that was the issue. He prints props and it just took too many pieces in the up.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:03 AM - Geof: I bet...thats a little guy
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:03 AM - Toro1966: The cool thing was that even though we were the second owner of his Robo from Craigslist - because the printer was still less than 6 months old, Robo covered the parts!
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:06 AM - danzca6: I bought a refurb and Robo honored fixing a couple bits as well
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:10 AM - danzca6: I keep looking for a good deal on CL
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:14 AM - Geof: i bought my plus new on Amazon...:D I also keep an eye on craigslist.
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:24 AM - Toro1966: I bought my plus new on amazon in August with 6 rolls of Robo filament for 750. I thought that was a god deal.
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:54 AM - daniel871: So hey, that $350 Monoprice printer that started hiccuping I mentioned yesterday? Monoprice is going to email me a postage-paid label for boxing up and shipping it back and they're just going to send me a replacement printer rather than deal with the hassle of sending me a replacement control board.
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:56 AM - daniel871: So I may end up trading up to the current version of the printer that has better bearings and stainless steel adjusting knobs on the bed leveling screws vs. the original wing nuts.
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:56 AM - daniel871: Man, having a year long actually legitimate warranty period is pretty sweet.
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:00 AM - danzca6: Nice Daniel... Good to hear you are getting good customer service.
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:03 AM - Toro1966: excellent - what did you think of the print quality of the monoprice? What model did you have?
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:21 AM - daniel871: I got the Maker Select that they were selling circa February of this year.
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:23 AM - daniel871: The one I got looks like this: [IMG]
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:25 AM - daniel871: People in the facebook group for the printer say they've been getting the V2.1 version that looks exactly like what is currently sold by Wanhao except the top of the frame says "Monoprice" instead of "Wanhao" on it.
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:26 AM - daniel871: Which looks like this: [IMG]
    Oct 13, 2016 at 7:47 AM - Toro1966: How does it print?
    Oct 13, 2016 at 7:53 AM - daniel871: Really well.
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:53 AM - daniel871: I thought I posted some comparison pics on here somewhere but I can't seem to find them.
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:57 AM - daniel871: Hang on, I just took a pic of the shelf on my desk at work where I've put a bunch of the random things I've printed on the Monoprice printer on it.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 7:58 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:59 AM - daniel871: That massive Benchy was funny to watch.
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:03 AM - Toro1966: Not bad at all. PLA?
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:04 AM - daniel871: The purple-ish ones and the woodfill ones are, the gray ones are an opaque PETG, the octopus & statue are also PETG, the red ones are ABS.
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:04 AM - Toro1966: nice! Where did you purchase?
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:05 AM - daniel871: Some people built fancy enclosures, I just put a big cardboard box over it.
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:05 AM - daniel871: I bought it in February 2016 when I got impatient waiting for Robo to ship the CES R1 out from that contest.
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:06 AM - daniel871: So that made all of my frustrations with Robo even more aggravating when the contest-win printer couldn't print the same objects the $350 printer was churning out without issues.
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:11 AM - danzca6: Toro...http://www.monoprice.com/Product?p_id=13860 They are also having a 15% sitewide sale that will get the price down to $280
    Oct 13, 2016 at 8:11 AM - danzca6: and free shipping
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:15 AM - daniel871: The only other mod people have been making is to print a rimmed plastic washer to put on either end of the bed springs so that it keeps the spring centered on the screw if your bed leveling height is really tall (sometimes the springs can slip during leveling if the leveling height is really high).
    Oct 13, 2016 at 8:18 AM - Toro1966: Nice!
    Oct 13, 2016 at 8:18 AM - Toro1966: Very cheap!

Oct 13, 2016 at 8:19 AM - daniel871: Exactly. It's why the Monoprice printer has gotten ridiculously popular as an entry-level printer (though that has been dampened slightly by the Prusa MK2 getting traction).
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:20 AM - daniel871: For the price point, I think it's a nice contrast of features. For $350 you get a really good steel-framed printer that you still have to manually level the bed on, for $699-899 you can get an auto-level/warp-compensating printer kit/assembly that is an update on the design of the $350 printer.
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:22 AM - daniel871: ...then I come here to talk about general 3d printing hobby stuff or laugh about dumb stories in the news and I'm not too sure how to politely word what I think of the direction Robo is taking.
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:23 AM - daniel871: But I'm biased by bad experiences with them.
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:35 AM - Toro1966: So I didn't see the maker select plus on their site.
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:37 AM - Toro1966: I sthat because it's out of stock? I would love it with the LCD already integrated.
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:38 AM - danzca6: yeah they bury it for some reason...I think they also have a delta
    Oct 13, 2016 at 8:39 AM - danzca6: here's the delta...http://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=15840
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:39 AM - danzca6: still looking for the plus
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:39 AM - danzca6: I thought Daniel linked to it long ago
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:39 AM - Toro1966: can't seem to find it but would love to possibly order it.
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:39 AM - daniel871: They may have taken it down due to issues the original design had with the Y-axis bearings.
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:40 AM - daniel871: By that I mean the Wanhao version they were selling rebranded.
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:40 AM - danzca6: IF instock and with 15% off site wide...it would be a good deal
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:41 AM - daniel871: Also Wanhao had a recall on the Plus printers because of some bad PCBs that were allowing current to run through the screws in the leveling mechanism, which was obviously a bad thing.
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:42 AM - Toro1966: Do you have a link to the select plus Daniel?
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:42 AM - daniel871: It should be the same as the one for the V2 but with 15711 at the end instead of 13860 or whatever.
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:42 AM - daniel871: They still have it linked in the listing for the V2 but it just goes to the home page.
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:44 AM - daniel871: Here is the PLA-only Delta printer they have, but it suffers from the same criticism I have for the C2 (no heated bed). http://www.monoprice.com/Product?p_id=15840
    Oct 13, 2016 at 8:44 AM - danzca6: not found
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:45 AM - Toro1966: Debating on jumping for the V2 or waiting until the plus is in stock. for 280bucks - almost too good to pass up.
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:46 AM - danzca6: hmmm...their homepage says that HAUNT discount code is for 10/16/16 only
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:47 AM - daniel871: Here is a timelapse of that delta with a print included in the timelapse.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 8:47 AM - daniel871: Hm.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 8:47 AM - danzca6: oh, ends 10/16
    Oct 13, 2016 at 8:48 AM - daniel871: Hey, check this out http://www.makeblock.com/laserBot-robot-kit
    Oct 13, 2016 at 8:51 AM - danzca6: I think I've seen that one...neat kit...and comes with a pair of glasses
Oct 13, 2016 at 8:59 AM - Toro1966: which monoprice do you currently have again Daniel?
Oct 13, 2016 at 9:06 AM - danzca6: he has the version previous to the 13860
Oct 13, 2016 at 9:06 AM - danzca6: you can see the listing has some pics of the older version since they haven't fully updated the listing
Oct 13, 2016 at 9:18 AM - Toro1966: Ahh got it. Thanks. Man - 280 bucks - that's cheap for that kind of volume. How hard is it to manually level the bed routinely?
Oct 13, 2016 at 9:34 AM - daniel871: I've only ever leveled the bed once, really.
Oct 13, 2016 at 9:34 AM - danzca6: and the thumb screws on V2 are supposed to be better than the version you have right Daniel
Oct 13, 2016 at 9:34 AM - daniel871: If I bump the bed or whatever I'll take the time to home Z, disable the steppers and check the level and occasionally have to tweak a corner or whatever but the actual leveling process is something I've only had to do once.
Oct 13, 2016 at 9:35 AM - daniel871: Yeah, the thumb screws essentially do the same thing as the modification I made to put loc-nuts and washers on to replace the wing nuts.
Oct 13, 2016 at 9:36 AM - daniel871: Not having to mess around with Z-offsets and all the other BS for auto-leveling is nice from my end, but at the same time if anything ever bends/warps the bed you're basically screwed.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 9:43 AM - Toro1966: very good to know!
Oct 13, 2016 at 9:47 AM - Toro1966: have debating paying the extra 30 bucks to get it on amazon tomorrow :)
Oct 13, 2016 at 9:51 AM - daniel871: I'd have to go back through the Shoutbox archives to check, but I'm pretty sure I got mine in two days when I ordered it from Monoprice.
Oct 13, 2016 at 9:51 AM - daniel871: I was on a really hard "How difficult is it to ship a contest prize?" kick that week.
Oct 13, 2016 at 9:51 AM - daniel871: (which was about four weeks after the contest ended)
Oct 13, 2016 at 9:52 AM - daniel871: Oh man, I just remembered I'm going to have to pay taxes on the value of that R1 if it's reported.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 9:52 AM - daniel871: R1+Plus, rather.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 9:53 AM - daniel871: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...re-top-stories_mcdonalds-705pm:homepage/story
Oct 13, 2016 at 9:58 AM - daniel871: Also, the Robot rebellion is beginning. http://i.imgur.com/eHlOGEE.gifv
Oct 13, 2016 at 10:00 AM - danzca6: Daniel that was the gift that kept on giving
Oct 13, 2016 at 10:01 AM - danzca6: taxes on the retail price of the R1+ that you don't have anymore...could just buy a new monoprice for that ;)
    Oct 13, 2016 at 10:01 AM - danzca6: well not really
Oct 13, 2016 at 10:15 AM - daniel871: Depends on whether the amount is the MSRP at the time or if it's the price it goes for now or what.
Oct 13, 2016 at 10:15 AM - daniel871: Also yes, two Monoprices for the price of a single R1+Plus just about.
Oct 13, 2016 at 1:51 PM - Toro1966: Does the monoprice v2 still have the problem with the Temps sensor and ground?
    Oct 13, 2016 at 2:13 PM - Geof: Playing with a zortrax m200 today :)
    Oct 13, 2016 at 2:19 PM - danzca6: How did it go
Oct 13, 2016 at 2:20 PM - Geof: Pretty good. Sounds like fun. They let me take one of their printers home to play with
    Oct 13, 2016 at 2:24 PM - danzca6: What? That's awesome... Who does that?
Oct 13, 2016 at 2:25 PM - Geof: Lol I've known these guys a very long time lol. Zortrax m200. It's got no controls in their slicer but it does work lol
Oct 13, 2016 at 2:25 PM - danzca6: So what would you be doing there? Running a print farm?
Oct 13, 2016 at 2:26 PM - Geof: Running print farm, printer tech, reseller for printers and filament eventually.
Oct 13, 2016 at 2:26 PM - Geof: They want to open a store front eventually. Still in the beginning stages and seeing what's what.
Oct 13, 2016 at 2:27 PM - danzca6: Could be an interesting adventure
Oct 13, 2016 at 2:27 PM - danzca6: Getting in on the ground floor and all
Oct 13, 2016 at 2:28 PM - Geof: Yea man. I'm going to accept the job I'm sure
Oct 13, 2016 at 2:29 PM - Geof: Just to fun to be back in the machine shop world and I get to play with printers :)
Oct 13, 2016 at 2:34 PM - danzca6: Jealous.... Hopefully the pay is good
Oct 13, 2016 at 2:36 PM - danzca6: Is that the only printer they have
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:02 PM - Geof: They have a few different ones, mine are the oddballs in comparison lol. Ill be taking my army with me (except 2)
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:06 PM - danzca6: hmmm...which two go with.....
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:08 PM - Geof: Mk2 for sure, sigma or robo for the other.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:12 PM - danzca6: Robo is loud
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:12 PM - danzca6: you can always switch it up
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:13 PM - Geof: Lol thats what they said too haha
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:13 PM - Geof: Lol the robo is a church mouse compares to the sigma
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:13 PM - danzca6: ...just shook my head a bit...hardest decision about a new job...what printers am I taking with :)
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:14 PM - danzca6: sounds like Jay Leno when he walks out to his garage...hmmm...what car am I going to take to the store today
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:14 PM - Geof: Lol hey man its like picking a child to keep haha
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:15 PM - danzca6: well...maybe you aren't to that level just yet...but you're working on it
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:15 PM - danzca6: picking a child to keep...yikes!
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:15 PM - Geof: Lol now im hoping to spend their money not mine haha

Oct 13, 2016 at 3:16 PM - Geof: Lol im guessing .... no kids :D lol just dogs and printers
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:17 PM - danzca6: oh yeah...dogs and printers aren't the same...you'll see if you ever go down that road :)
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:18 PM - danzca6: especially teenaged daughters
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:18 PM - Geof: Lol :) gotta pass on that one my friend
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:19 PM - danzca6: Do you fallow Juri on Twitter?
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:19 PM - Geof: Juri ?
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:20 PM - danzca6: He's working on a new model this week...talented guy...I'll get a link

Oct 13, 2016 at 3:26 PM - Geof: If the prusa works out i bet he will be around alot more
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:27 PM - danzca6: if? I think he is doing well with orders...not sure what profit margin he is making on them though
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:27 PM - danzca6: since he doesn't use the clone crap for the rambo mini and such
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:29 PM - Toro1966: I can't imagine those kits are mote than a couple hundred in parts.
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:29 PM - Toro1966: Especially buying in bulk. Many of the parts are printed. LCDS are 15 bucks when we buy them...
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:30 PM - Toro1966: Not sure what the minimum wage is there either :)
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:32 PM - danzca6: they get paid in gummies
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:32 PM - danzca6: the rambo mini is what? $150 or so just for the controller
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:33 PM - danzca6: He doesn't use cheap parts
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:33 PM - danzca6: US made controller I must add
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:34 PM - Geof: Having a 2 week lead time I'm betting quantity with lower margins and I bet he gets amazing guys on the pallet full lol
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:35 PM - danzca6: I stand corrected...amazon has the mini from the manufacture for $185 https://amzn.com/B00J9NYG22
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:35 PM - danzca6: the beds are custom made as well
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:36 PM - danzca6: So Toro you getting the Select V2 from monoprice?
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:42 PM - Toro1966: There is no way he is paying 185 for the rambo.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:42 PM - Toro1966: Not a chance
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:42 PM - Toro1966: Definitely think so ont he V2. Only thing I want to make sure is the temp fluctuation. i think they have that fixe, but wanted to make sure
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:42 PM - danzca6: no but even so...they aint cheapo ramps
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:43 PM - Toro1966: Agred Dan. Definitley
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:43 PM - Toro1966: Wonder his split of kits to premade is?
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:43 PM - danzca6: yeah it is a good deal for a spare printer
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:44 PM - danzca6: Daniel has had a lot of luck with it...and that is saying something after his poor track record with the robos
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:44 PM - Geof: Toro keep us posted on what you think of it
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:45 PM - Geof: Sounded like his luck ran out danz :)
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:45 PM - danzca6: yeah, but they are sending him a brand new one
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:45 PM - Geof: All printers need work at time lol
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:45 PM - danzca6: true
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:45 PM - Geof: Wow that's pretty impressive. I wouldn't be able to send one back lol
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:47 PM - Geof: Even the sigma their just sending parts until I throw in the towel lol
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:47 PM - danzca6: I see more and more folks with the sigmas online
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:47 PM - danzca6: have to be doing something right
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:48 PM - Geof: They are impressive machines man. I got a short straw but the guy working with me is awesome
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:48 PM - Geof: Most of them just work and work well
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:48 PM - Toro1966: Hard to pass up 300 bucks for a printer though :)
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:48 PM - Toro1966: That said - the 15% off code does not seem to work.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:49 PM - Toro1966: Apparently not on 3d printers
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:50 PM - Geof: I don't think that would be the one I'd go with. I'd just save up a bit more
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:50 PM - Geof: Get a really good one lol
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:51 PM - Geof: I am excited to hear what more people think about them. Danz isn't that the one KTM picked up?
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:52 PM - danzca6: 13860 Maker Select 3D Printer v2
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:52 PM - danzca6: on the excluded products list
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:52 PM - danzca6: darn
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:52 PM - Toro1966: Of course it is lol.
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:52 PM - Toro1966: Are you saying you wouldn't go with ut Geof?
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:53 PM - Geof: Nah, but I'm wierd like that lol.
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:53 PM - danzca6: hmmm...don't remember off hand if KTM got one or not
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:53 PM - Geof: In the show and tell thread I started to show off printer set up
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:54 PM - danzca6: oh yeah...
Oct 13, 2016 at 3:54 PM - Toro1966: Lol. I still like the Prusa, but it's almost 800 shipped and you put it together. The print quality looks pretty nice for 316 shipped on the monoprice
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:54 PM - Toro1966: Amazon has for 316
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:55 PM - danzca6: no...he got the select mini
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:55 PM - danzca6: man Geof...you need an avatar :)
    Oct 13, 2016 at 3:55 PM - Geof: Avatar ?

Oct 13, 2016 at 4:56 PM - Toro1966: I like sticking with the inland stuff. Good prints and cheap and I can get it locally.
Oct 13, 2016 at 4:57 PM - Toro1966: I would like to try some of the other stuff like Tglase, etc.
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:00 PM - Toro1966: I like th elook of the intense green colorfabb has.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:01 PM - danzca6: Has anyone tried orb

Oct 13, 2016 at 5:10 PM - Geof: Saw e3d adapters on thingiverse lol
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:10 PM - Toro1966: All metal or PTFE?
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:11 PM - danzca6: Maybe the MK10
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:11 PM - danzca6: I think the mk10 is all metal
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:11 PM - Geof: Don't know anything about those hotends. I use promethius or e3d :)
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:12 PM - danzca6: It's the same as the wahnao v2
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:13 PM - danzca6: The MK10 hotend is all-metal with the exception of the industrial-grade PTFE insert and allows temps up to 260°C.
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:14 PM - Geof: That damn printer kit is still on back order danz
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:14 PM - danzca6: That's off of wahnao site for their v2
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:14 PM - Toro1966: Which one? The 499 one?
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:14 PM - Geof: That's a pretty decent hotend then I'd guess
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:14 PM - danzca6: Send Josef a tweet
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:15 PM - Geof: Toro whichever one you buy share some pics and prints
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:15 PM - Toro1966: Will certainly do so. Y
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:16 PM - Geof: I already talked to customer service...their aware lol
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:17 PM - Geof: Say due to high success there is a wait on both the kit and assembled
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:18 PM - Toro1966: Lol - gotta love waiting....not.
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:18 PM - Geof: And thanks for my order lol!
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:19 PM - Geof: Hopefully it will be here by next weekend lol
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:23 PM - Geof: Danz what's your guess on what gummies ?
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:26 PM - danzca6: I don't know...not just bears...can be berries as seen on Joels video...RichRap had all kinds when building with his daughter
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:27 PM - danzca6: heck...hopefully they will be good at least
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:30 PM - Geof: Lol maybe there will be extras for the wait !
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:30 PM - Toro1966: Haha - You got a free printer with your $800 bag of gummie bears :)
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:30 PM - Geof: Lol!!!!! Toro thats how im going to explain it to the lady
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:31 PM - danzca6: ...then she will take the gummies
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:31 PM - Geof: Nah she will let us have them. She knows the gummies are off limits ;-)
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:31 PM - Geof: :p
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:32 PM - danzca6: too funny
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:32 PM - Geof: Danz whats your 2nd printer gonna be ?
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:32 PM - Toro1966: [IMG]
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:34 PM - danzca6: man...I need to figure out what my 2nd job is going to be so I can afford it
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:34 PM - danzca6: Very nice Toro
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:34 PM - Toro1966: [IMG]
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:34 PM - danzca6: is there going to be a removable brain on top
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:35 PM - Toro1966: [IMG]
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:35 PM - Toro1966: Yup - going to print that in glow filament tomorrow
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:35 PM - danzca6: man you are on a roll
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:35 PM - danzca6: did you get your new nozzles yet?
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:36 PM - Geof: Damn fine print!
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:36 PM - Toro1966: Thanks guys. No - not yet but they shipped. Should be here tomorrow is my guess.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:37 PM - danzca6: order from Matt?
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:37 PM - danzca6: Printed Solid?
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:38 PM - danzca6: He sends his packages with some gummies as well
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:38 PM - Toro1966: [IMG]
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:38 PM - Toro1966: A little bit of layering, but not too bad for .2
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:39 PM - danzca6: is it just me or is it smoother on the bottom quarter than the top
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:39 PM - Geof: I was noticing that too
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:39 PM - Toro1966: I definitely noticed it - what do you think could be the cause?
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:40 PM - Geof: Get ya some xtc3d and coat that bad boy
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:40 PM - Geof: First guess would be belt could be a bit loose, maybe need lube on the rods
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:41 PM - Geof: Speed maybe
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:41 PM - Toro1966: Which belt?
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:41 PM - danzca6: more weight on the Y at that height?
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:41 PM - Toro1966: x axis?
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:41 PM - Toro1966: Weight makes sense.
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:41 PM - Geof: How did you print it ? Facing you ?
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:41 PM - Toro1966: are you talking about lubing the z threaded rods?
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:42 PM - Toro1966: yep - facing
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:42 PM - Geof: Lube everything, all smooth rods and threaded. Does the x belt twang or thud when you pluck it ?
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:43 PM - Toro1966: I'll have to check - I don't think so. Should it.
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:43 PM - Geof: Should twang
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:44 PM - Toro1966: So mine is probably a bit loose. Does that just happen over time? How do I tighten it? It is secured with a zip tie.
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:44 PM - Geof: Yes with a zip tie. Belts sketch over time yes
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:45 PM - Toro1966: So do I just tuck in a little more with the zip tie?
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:46 PM - Geof: If you can. Or cut the belt and add some zip ties
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:46 PM - Geof: Or make up a slightly shorter belt
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:46 PM - Geof: Or print a tensioner
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:47 PM - Toro1966: I'll have to google a tensioner.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:47 PM - Toro1966: thingiverse
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:47 PM - danzca6: tensioner could add backlash I heard from Tom
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:47 PM - danzca6: never used one, just heard his comments one day about it
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:47 PM - Geof: Really ? I see a lot of people doing it
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:48 PM - danzca6: like I said, just what I heard
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:48 PM - Geof: Hmmmm. I suppose that would make sense
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:48 PM - danzca6: I really like Mike Kelly's V2 carriage...he has easy adjustable x axis belt tensioning without zip ties

Oct 13, 2016 at 5:49 PM - Geof: Interesting I'll have to look it up
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:50 PM - Toro1966: I don't know that I want to go through the hassle of changing the carriage though.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:50 PM - danzca6: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1252888
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:52 PM - Geof: How do you add pics to shout box ?
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:52 PM - Toro1966: I use flickr. Copy and paste the link once youve uploaded. Imgur is easier.
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:53 PM - Toro1966: upload to imgur and then copy the link and paste
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:53 PM - Toro1966: Still don't think the print looks bad but I definitely need to lube the rods again and I'll see about tightenening the belt too.
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:54 PM - Geof: Toro I pm you a pic of my zip tie tensioner set up lol
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:54 PM - Geof: The other stuff is to much doing lol
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:55 PM - Geof: Danz mikes carriage looks sweet. You use it ?
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:57 PM - danzca6: no...still stock
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:57 PM - danzca6: I really do like it and if I need to print a carriage I will either print his or incorporate that into the one I design
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:57 PM - Geof: Me too
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:58 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Geof. I appreciate it. I just looked again at the printer and and belt and it does twang when I flick it.
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:58 PM - Geof: It looks great, I don't think I like the fan mount setup, I hated that on the hex
Oct 13, 2016 at 5:59 PM - Toro1966: It is not wicked tight, but it isn't loose either. Maybe slow the speed down? I was only printing at 40 though. I definitely need to lube the rods. I have done it before, but they are bone dry.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:59 PM - danzca6: I wouldn't go any slower
    Oct 13, 2016 at 5:59 PM - Geof: I print at 60+ mm/s
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:00 PM - Geof: Just lube them babies thoroughly
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:00 PM - danzca6: machines like their moving bits lubed
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:00 PM - Toro1966: Will definitley do that
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:09 PM - danzca6: This is cool
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:09 PM - danzca6: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1095980
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:14 PM - Geof: That is cool !
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:17 PM - Toro1966: hey guys - just did a dumb rookie move. Was using the lcd to lower and raise the extrduer to grease the lead screws. Lowered too much and crashed into bed before I could turn it off. Heard a pop that scared the crap out of me. Turns out the left side plastic reatiner (where the switch is) that holds the x assembly down on that side, popped off of the lower nut.
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:18 PM - Toro1966: I managed to get it all back and tightened back down. Bed is fine and didn't break - amazing. And it homes and moves fines. At least it appears so. Anything else I need to check?
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:19 PM - Geof: I'd just test print it and see how she does.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:20 PM - Toro1966: that's what I thought. Torques me off that I did that!
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:21 PM - Geof: I think we have all done it lol
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:23 PM - Toro1966: Ok - found an issue - I auto home with the LCD and then I turn the know to 160mm. Well below max. It doesn't stop at 160. Thoughts?
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:28 PM - Toro1966: If I turn it in steps - i.e. 50-80-125-160 or something like that, it stops, but if I auto home and turn the know up to 160 it won't stop.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:28 PM - danzca6: guilty
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:31 PM - danzca6: interesting...the LCD zeros on home and when you tell it to move to 160 it goes farther...and you know this because the LCD reports beyond
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:32 PM - Toro1966: I know this because it keeps going and if I don't turn the power off it will run off
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:32 PM - danzca6: oh boy
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:32 PM - Toro1966: I don't know that this is a NEW issue - but it is an issue.
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:32 PM - Toro1966: And if I go slow in steps, it does fine.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:32 PM - Toro1966: That doesn't make sense. LCD issue?
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:33 PM - danzca6: unplug everything...USB and power then plug back in
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:33 PM - danzca6: see if something odd is in memory
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:33 PM - danzca6: it's just odd to behave this way
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:34 PM - Toro1966: don't have USB connected, but will power cycle now
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:34 PM - danzca6: make sure to unplug the cord
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:34 PM - Toro1966: got it
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:39 PM - Toro1966: Just plugged it back in - auto homed, turned dial to 100 - it went - turned dial to 160 - it went. Now I am auto homing and going to try 160.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:40 PM - Toro1966: nope
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:40 PM - Toro1966: kept going....
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:41 PM - danzca6: why would it do that...it makes no sense
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:41 PM - danzca6: should to it no matter what height you move if that is the case
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:41 PM - danzca6: ugh
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:42 PM - danzca6: did you home all or just z
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:43 PM - Toro1966: home all
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:44 PM - Toro1966: It's referencing home - which it appears to be doing correctly, so height should just be based on steps after that - correct?
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:46 PM - Toro1966: Ok - something is deifnitely wrong. So i turned the lcd up to 150 and it stopped, but just before the top. Almost as if it has lost a reference.
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:48 PM - Toro1966: Should x, y, and z steps per mm be the same value?
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:50 PM - Toro1966: Nope - just looked up the values in the stock firmware - 80, 80, 800. So they are correct.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:50 PM - Toro1966: I don't know what the issue is.
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:51 PM - Geof: Thats a new one on me. Id send the m comands to clear eeprom. Maybe something got changed during the crash accidentally
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:51 PM - danzca6: so...300 for a new printer you say
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:52 PM - danzca6: good idea geof
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:52 PM - danzca6: M502 M500
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:53 PM - danzca6: oh and Toro, not saying we can't fix this one, but a spare would be good
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:53 PM - Toro1966: Lol. Spare LCD?
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:53 PM - Toro1966: Or spare printer :)
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:53 PM - danzca6: well your new printer will need an lcd
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:53 PM - danzca6: haha
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:54 PM - danzca6: I can't think what would have had issue with the LCD
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:54 PM - danzca6: so I can't believe it is bad
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:54 PM - danzca6: but then again...whole thing is odd
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:55 PM - danzca6: try plugging in the USB, do you get the same issue using S3D to move Z
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:55 PM - danzca6: home all, move z to 160
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:55 PM - Toro1966: JUst sent M commands. USB conencted to S3D raising it now.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:56 PM - Toro1966: Looks like it didn't fix it.
Oct 13, 2016 at 6:57 PM - Toro1966: I am homing with S3d jog controls now. IS there a way to send it to a specific height?
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:59 PM - danzca6: yeah
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:59 PM - danzca6: G28 to home all
    Oct 13, 2016 at 6:59 PM - danzca6: G1 Z160 to move Z to 160mm
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:00 PM - Toro1966: Thanks. Just homed all and will send 160 command in a sec. I pushed the jog up (10) 16 times and it stopped at 160
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:04 PM - Toro1966: G28 and Z160 commands work. If I try and raise it from the LCD - it goes to high. WTF!
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:04 PM - Toro1966: Going to print a test print and then probably make a thread and see if anyone has some good ideas.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 7:06 PM - daniel871:
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:07 PM - Toro1966: Just pushed BUY on the Monoprice V2. It will be here Saturday.

Oct 13, 2016 at 7:08 PM - Toro1966: Me too. Either way - you guys will be the first to know.
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:08 PM - danzca6: Having a spare printer sounds better all the time
    Oct 13, 2016 at 7:08 PM - danzca6: 30 day return policy
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:09 PM - Toro1966: Doesn't it! What kills me is that mine was working fine until I jacked it up! That said, this LCD issue might have been there all the time. Not sure.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 7:09 PM - danzca6: 1 year replacement Warranty
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:09 PM - Toro1966: Yup and I bought from Amazon so I have 30 days to send back if I don't like it.
    Oct 13, 2016 at 7:09 PM - Toro1966: Also bought a couple kits of that XTC :)
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:09 PM - danzca6: What LCD do you have
    Oct 13, 2016 at 7:10 PM - Toro1966: Full Graphic Controller
    Oct 13, 2016 at 7:10 PM - danzca6: I have the xxl
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:10 PM - Toro1966: Going to have my son check his too to see what it does.

    Oct 13, 2016 at 7:11 PM - danzca6: Interesting to hear
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:11 PM - Toro1966: To be honest - until recently I never used it - I always used S3D or MC via USB
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:11 PM - Toro1966: Which is why it miught have been a problem all along and I might have just noticed it.

Oct 13, 2016 at 7:12 PM - Toro1966: Good news is I can steal his and test my theory.
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:14 PM - Toro1966: Bigger problems now. Hotened not heating..

    Oct 13, 2016 at 7:18 PM - danzca6: May need to "borrow"his ramps board
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:20 PM - Toro1966: Think I might be making the swap to the standard ramps board soon.
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:20 PM - Toro1966: MIne is still under warranty so I wonder if they will cover it or say because its an lcd it's not a problem with the printer
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:22 PM - danzca6: Start the thread and let's see what kind of feedback comes from that
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:26 PM - Toro1966: Thanks. Looks like the hotend is working. NOt sure if it was a connection issue or what. I have noticed it does not like to go back and forth between USB and not - then again I have a MAC. I am running parallels, but still adifferent beast...
Oct 13, 2016 at 7:30 PM - Bill Monroe: good evening

Oct 14, 2016 5:49 AM - daniel871: I watched that lego printer build yesterday, got a laugh out of Tom saying Josef Prusa was upset over getting too many good reviews for his printer and having difficulty meeting the sudden demand/incoming orders.
Oct 14, 2016 5:49 AM - daniel871: That's the kind of problem a lot of companies would love to have.
Oct 14, 2016 6:05 AM - Bill Monroe: Sorry Dan, it's not ready yet but I'll be sure to have my son gets some takeoff vids next time it flys

Oct 14, 2016 6:39 AM - Bill Monroe: ha! we used Poloroids for selfies then.. porta-phones only existed in cars using special exchanges
Oct 14, 2016 6:40 AM - danzca6: Well my day off chores is calling... Cold day again here... Hard to get motivation to go outside

Oct 14, 2016 4:40 PM - Toro1966: Id there an m command for verifying which thermistor number you have i.e. 5 for the e3d?
Oct 14, 2016 5:03 PM - Toro1966: Also - is there a m code for showing what version of firmware you have installed?
Oct 14, 2016 5:12 PM - Geof: I'm not sure on the m commands but you should be able to look at the firmware you uploaded for all that ?
Oct 14, 2016 5:13 PM - Toro1966: I did - I just want to confirm that the firmware version I uploaded actually took. If that makes sense
    Oct 14, 2016 5:13 PM - Toro1966: Monoprice will be here tomorrow too ;)
Oct 14, 2016 5:18 PM - Geof: I do! I change my controller display to say something so I can see the change :)

    Oct 14, 2016 5:22 PM - Toro1966: How would I change that?
    Oct 14, 2016 5:22 PM - Toro1966: Nevermind - you mean the firmware name - right?
Oct 14, 2016 5:22 PM - Toro1966: That then displays on the lCD?
Oct 14, 2016 5:23 PM - Toro1966: Also is there a way to display time left on the LCD?
Oct 14, 2016 5:28 PM - Geof: Yes to the first one, never tried the 2nd one
Oct 14, 2016 5:29 PM - Geof: The name says something like robor1+v2 or something in and I believe that's the line I changed to robeana v1.7 or whatever modified file I'm running.
Oct 14, 2016 5:29 PM - Geof: I don't much mess with the software side, it's over my head, I stay focused on the hardware/ print quality area.

Oct 16, 2016 at 3:59 PM - kevin wilson: it was a bit tall through my steppers off
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:02 PM - kevin wilson: finally adjusted the nut, can anyone tell me if the red wire on the right stepper as lookin at the front is suppose to connect to the stepper, it seems to work, but not sure if snaped it off during the fix
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:13 PM - Geof: The wores going into the stepper motor ?
    Oct 16, 2016 at 4:13 PM - Geof: Wires
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:15 PM - kevin wilson: yeah looks like the red one snapped off, there should be three connections, and black on the inside, red on the outside, and the middle one empty?
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:16 PM - Geof: Start a troubleshooting tgread and share a picture please
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:16 PM - kevin wilson: need to get the nut right again, its not getting into the top part
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:23 PM - Geof: I understand. If you take a picture and include in the thread we can help you out

    Oct 16, 2016 at 4:36 PM - jim3Dbot: Z steppers
    Oct 16, 2016 at 4:36 PM - jim3Dbot: R1 model Robo
    Oct 16, 2016 at 4:37 PM - kevin wilson: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/z-switch-help.11709/
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:37 PM - kevin wilson: thanks have the plus version
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:38 PM - kevin wilson: semms to be red, empty black on the left, then right side seems to be a black and red, the one more connector, then i have a full red wire, that I think goes on the far right
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:40 PM - jim3Dbot: Your talking about the switch, there is no polarity, just copy the other microswitch
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:41 PM - kevin wilson: yeah that was my thought, except my right switch has one less connection spot then my left
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:41 PM - kevin wilson: because i think it snapped
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:42 PM - jim3Dbot: Just use the outside terminals, either way works.......as far as the color.
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:43 PM - jim3Dbot: Was it an outside termial on the switch................sounds like it.........
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:45 PM - kevin wilson: yes
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:45 PM - kevin wilson: below it
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:46 PM - kevin wilson: my link has the pics in it, yeah one of the connectors on the underside of the switch snaped off in the the wire holding it
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:46 PM - kevin wilson: there is one connection not in use, as it has three
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:47 PM - jim3Dbot: I see it on your pic now...............yep it broke off..........Well you can try to remove the two mounting screws..........the switch may be able to be repaired to get you printing.............they are very cheap...........drill out & solder on nub remaining
    Oct 16, 2016 at 4:48 PM - jim3Dbot: Most have rivits.........drill out..take apart and solder on a wire..........
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:49 PM - kevin wilson: can't connect it to that middle one not in use right
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:49 PM - jim3Dbot: Won't work, contacts are NO Common NC..........
    Oct 16, 2016 at 4:50 PM - jim3Dbot: Not in that order, but electrically won't work........rivet....spellin'
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:51 PM - jim3Dbot: Can you see any metal on that end terminal?
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:52 PM - kevin wilson: yes i just removed it
    Oct 16, 2016 at 4:52 PM - jim3Dbot: Got a solder iron?
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:52 PM - kevin wilson: barely any sticking out, but i can still get the contact
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:54 PM - jim3Dbot: Drop a hot drop of solder on it..............then reheat/reflow the solder & be ready with a stripped & tinned wire...........push into molten solder..........you should be runnin' again.after splice...
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:56 PM - jim3Dbot: Switches are about $1.00.......but, that won't get you printing soon........
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:56 PM - kevin wilson: i still have the prong piece, was going to drop that onto the solder
    Oct 16, 2016 at 4:57 PM - jim3Dbot: go for it...........
Oct 16, 2016 at 4:58 PM - jim3Dbot: Might be bifficult getting the faston tab back on the solderd up broken terminal..........
    Oct 16, 2016 at 4:58 PM - jim3Dbot: difficult
Oct 16, 2016 at 5:00 PM - Geof: Hey Jim, setting up mesh. Ir sensor of yours considerably better than the manual way as far as operation?

Oct 16, 2016 at 5:10 PM - Geof: Ah gotya ! I do recall that thread now. Think pcb better than glass or aluminum?

Oct 16, 2016 at 5:25 PM - Geof: Kevin how you holding up ?
Oct 16, 2016 at 5:28 PM - kevin wilson: the solding is going to be another day
Oct 16, 2016 at 5:29 PM - kevin wilson: still looking to order the switch just to have
Oct 16, 2016 at 5:29 PM - kevin wilson: robo is oos
Oct 16, 2016 at 5:30 PM - Toro1966: Ok - I have got to have the most finicky bed in history to level!
Oct 16, 2016 at 5:31 PM - kevin wilson: lol,
Oct 16, 2016 at 5:31 PM - Toro1966: You would think with the R1+ I would be good to go, nope. I can get it right and use the same offset for printing for a week, and then whammo it's AFU. Nothing done to it, noc hnages, just turned it off, come back later and go to print and it's all catywampus!

Oct 16, 2016 at 5:34 PM - Geof: Toro mesh leveling in waldos thread. Im working on it now as well
Oct 16, 2016 at 5:34 PM - Geof: Kevin amazon will have those switxhes
    Oct 16, 2016 at 5:34 PM - Geof: Switches***
Oct 16, 2016 at 5:36 PM - Toro1966: I definitely want to try mesh leveling Geof, but am waiting until you do it first so I can bother you with a bunch of questions :) I have read through it, but it a little daunting because it's not a step by step but a bunch of posts, and it is still an Rc - correct?
Oct 16, 2016 at 5:36 PM - Geof: Kevin i posted a link in your thread buddy
Oct 16, 2016 at 5:36 PM - Toro1966: This is also the first time I am using nearly the entire bed in quite some time - so it all had to be level - and of course these glass beds have some warp in them.
Oct 16, 2016 at 5:37 PM - kevin wilson: yeah looking lots to go through
Oct 16, 2016 at 5:37 PM - Geof: Still an rc and will be for a long time lol. Its pretty easy. Load it up scroll to level bed and click. Set the height with a piece of paper in each of the 16 locations. Change your start up script per waldos instructions
Oct 16, 2016 at 5:37 PM - Geof: Kevin go to the autolevel one :)
Oct 16, 2016 at 5:38 PM - Geof: Print and test im running a test now toro. One corner im off but thats ok
Oct 16, 2016 at 5:39 PM - Toro1966: do I have to change all of the other things int he firmware I already have as well? LCD, pid, etc? And once you use mesh, the m565 doesn't work - correct?
Oct 16, 2016 at 5:39 PM - Toro1966: monoprice came packaged very well.
Oct 16, 2016 at 5:46 PM - Toro1966: You're going to have to tell me how that mesh works out for you Geof. I really need to switch to something. I am getting very frustrated releveling this for no apparent reason...
    Oct 16, 2016 at 5:51 PM - danzca6: Evening gents
Oct 16, 2016 at 5:51 PM - danzca6: Geof, looks like you figured out the world of Mesh
Oct 16, 2016 at 5:53 PM - danzca6: I'm going to try my hand at multi color between layers tonight
Oct 16, 2016 at 5:55 PM - danzca6: Toro, yes, you will want to change your values for extruder steps, bed/hotend pid settings in the new firmware prior to loading
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:01 PM - Geof: Hi danz. Yea i decided to just go for it
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:02 PM - danzca6: pretty nice not having to wait for ABL each print right
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:03 PM - danzca6: Sorry I was out this afternoon or else I would have been happy to lend a hand
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:05 PM - Geof: Couldnt tell ya lol still workinf on it haha
    Oct 16, 2016 at 6:05 PM - Geof: No worries buddy :')
    Oct 16, 2016 at 6:09 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Dan
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:09 PM - danzca6: do you have all the points plotted and just working on a test print?
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:10 PM - Toro1966: I know Waldo's thread is the answer, but is there a step by step to mesh - including files to download etc? Yes, the info is in the thread, but it is all over the place. At least when I read it a couple of weeks ago
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:11 PM - Geof: Yessir! Didnit wrong once but now no offset and its putting down a decent layer
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:11 PM - Geof: He has new files with step by step. Ask me any questions toro ill help ya out
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:11 PM - Toro1966: So once you go mesh you no longer do z offset - correct?
    Oct 16, 2016 at 6:12 PM - danzca6: not with M565 or M561 no
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:12 PM - Toro1966: Thanks guys. Think I might try and do it next weekend. First I have to get this monoprice up and running and this new pc connected.
    Oct 16, 2016 at 6:12 PM - danzca6: it is optional to do G29 S4 Zn.nn
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:12 PM - danzca6: I thought the MO was pretty quick assembly and go
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:13 PM - Geof: Im at no offset and trucking along. A little close but thats ok
    Oct 16, 2016 at 6:13 PM - Toro1966: so what does G29 S4 do ?
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:13 PM - daniel871: It ought to be. Took me about 5 minutes to assemble and maybe 10 minutes double checking the manual leveling.
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:13 PM - Toro1966: I am sure it is easy to setup but the wife had plans this weekend so the printer and pc are sitting here waiting to be played with LOL
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:14 PM - danzca6: it is a way to still offset if needed
    Oct 16, 2016 at 6:14 PM - Toro1966: so n.nn would be the offset like G28 S4 Z-.80
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:15 PM - danzca6: well now with 1.1.0 marlin the positive, negative thing is switched
    Oct 16, 2016 at 6:15 PM - danzca6: and it is G29 not G28
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:15 PM - daniel871: Mount the Z axis, plug everything in, mount spool holder, level bed, slice something, print.
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:15 PM - danzca6: positive number to move further from the bed and negative to move closer
    Oct 16, 2016 at 6:16 PM - daniel871: In S3D just use the Wanhao i3 profile.
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:16 PM - Toro1966: doh - I just got used to the negative thing.
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:16 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Daniel. That's what I was wondering as well. Which profile.
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:16 PM - Toro1966: Any changes needed to firmware or is good to go out of the box.
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:16 PM - danzca6: I know it is something to reverse in your head. I still use - because I probe with an IR
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:17 PM - danzca6: you have the full graphics lcd so it is pretty close to plug and play...just keep a copy of your current just in case
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:17 PM - daniel871: Also join the Wanhao i3 owners group and read the pinned post. Lots of good info there.
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:17 PM - danzca6: oh, that might have been about the MP firmware
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:18 PM - daniel871: The MO uses Repetier firmware, not Marlin. The plus moved to Marlin to support the touchscreen, I think.
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:18 PM - danzca6: daniel you did mesh on your last robo right?
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:18 PM - Toro1966: Yup - the MP firmware. But it has LCD too so should be good to go.
    Oct 16, 2016 at 6:18 PM - Toro1966: [IMG]
    Oct 16, 2016 at 6:19 PM - danzca6: break the seal Toro
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:19 PM - daniel871: Dont touch the firmware on the Monoprice printer. The melzi runs pretty close to as well as it can.
    Oct 16, 2016 at 6:19 PM - Toro1966: [IMG]
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:19 PM - Toro1966: There she is - just calling to me!
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:19 PM - Toro1966: At least I took it out of the box!
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:19 PM - Toro1966: Can't wait to hook up the new pc. It's ridiculous
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:20 PM - daniel871: My only tip on unpacking is to watch out pulling things out of the wrapping. Cables might snag.
    Oct 16, 2016 at 6:21 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Daniel
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:22 PM - Toro1966: Well guys - have to get ready for work tomorrow. Geof - I definitely want to hear how the mesh went tomorrow night :)
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:22 PM - daniel871: Yeah, I had the mesh firmware on my Robo. It was amazing until the QC problems came into play.
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:24 PM - daniel871: Ugh, oh yeah, work. Guess I better get ready for that too.
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:24 PM - Geof: Got it going on my plus now. Looks good. Last bed wasnt so bed, the replacement was terrible. Middle bowed up lol.
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:40 PM - WheresWaldo: So my response was late and you already have MESH up and running?
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:40 PM - Geof: Hi waldo no worries my friend. I was just being a scardy cat lol. Yessir up and printing
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:46 PM - WheresWaldo: Still I gave you a couple of hints in my response
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:47 PM - WheresWaldo: Once you use MESH a while you will question why you didn't try it much sooner.
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:47 PM - Geof: Yessir read through and made adjustments. Printing with no offset. Did a 1 layer .1mm square in all 4 corners and middle...astonishing
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:53 PM - WheresWaldo: Dan and I told you it would be great.
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:54 PM - Geof: Software = scary lol can't put a wrench on it haha
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:55 PM - Toro1966: Going to try it next wekend probably and stop being chicken!
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:56 PM - WheresWaldo: Toro why wait?
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:56 PM - Geof: Takes about 20 minutes toro. Waldo has it dummy proof for us :)
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:57 PM - Toro1966: Haha - thanks Geof. Waldo - have to get my monoprice setup first and then I'l hit the mesh. Going to have reread the thread because it's been a couple of weeks and I understand there have been changes.
Oct 16, 2016 at 6:59 PM - WheresWaldo: I even experimented with trying to mess it up. I took my perfectly MESH leveled R1 and turned it off then forced one side of the z down to it was very skewed. then I took my dial indicator to relevel the X and did no adjustment to MESH and it printed just fine.
Oct 16, 2016 at 7:00 PM - WheresWaldo: I level my X Axis rails from left to right in the middle of the bed and let Mesh take care of any anomalies around the rest of the bed.
Oct 16, 2016 at 7:01 PM - Geof: That's what I did as well Waldo. My bed is bowed high in the middle, not an issue now
Oct 16, 2016 at 7:07 PM - WheresWaldo: Mine always printed lower on the back right side, now I no longer have that issue.
Oct 16, 2016 at 7:08 PM - Toro1966: Mine is always jacked up. It works for a bit and then doesn't and I spend hours releveling it. Auto-level my ass!
Oct 16, 2016 at 7:09 PM - WheresWaldo: Geof, make sure you do your own PID tuning, I did mine based on a E3Dv6 and those are the number included. But I am also using the stud thermistor so the settings may need adjusting.
Oct 16, 2016 at 7:10 PM - WheresWaldo: I'm telling you Toro, MESH is really set and forget.
    Oct 16, 2016 at 7:11 PM - Geof: Already did waldo :)
Oct 16, 2016 at 7:11 PM - Geof: 2nd waldo toro. On my 4th print now. Machine went down around 7 back up around 8ish ran test prints all success, back to production work.
Oct 16, 2016 at 7:12 PM - Toro1966: And the bed is most definitely warped on mine
Oct 16, 2016 at 7:13 PM - Toro1966: You sold me guys. Going to get my crap together and try it this weekend when I have a chance. I am sure I'll need help lol.
Oct 16, 2016 at 7:14 PM - WheresWaldo: Tell yourself it will be easy and then reward yourself when you are done and realize it was easy.
Oct 16, 2016 at 7:15 PM - WheresWaldo: I would also make sure to use the 10-15 version since it has some cool speed and jerk goodies that Josef Prusa incorporated into his MK2. I am sure there will be more stuff ported when the Marlin devs get a chance.
Oct 16, 2016 at 7:17 PM - WheresWaldo: To be clear, Prusa did not port to Marlin 1.1.0, he uses a version stripped down and I think it is 1.0.2. So it was up to the Marlin guys to figure out what he did and then add it to the new code.
Oct 16, 2016 at 7:18 PM - Geof: Waldo my mk2 kit gets here tomorrow, it will be fun to compare the 2
Oct 16, 2016 at 7:18 PM - WheresWaldo: Gotta go and finish watching the Cubs try to make it to the WS.
Oct 16, 2016 at 7:19 PM - WheresWaldo: I think if the Marlin guys add some of the Prusa code and with all the new stuff they have implemented, it will be nearly as good.
Oct 16, 2016 at 7:19 PM - WheresWaldo: Maybe better (wishful thinking I am guessing)
Oct 16, 2016 at 7:20 PM - Geof: I'll let ya know for sure. Thank you for all the help and doing all the work
    Oct 16, 2016 at 7:20 PM - WheresWaldo: Nite
    Oct 16, 2016 at 7:21 PM - Geof: Goodnight
