Oct 24, 2016 7:30 PM - JeffTheMess: anything is paintable just primer it first
Oct 24, 2016 7:31 PM - Toro1966: don't want to prime it because it will loose some of the translucent effect. Just want o black wash it some and make it aged and also fill in the symbols so you can see them.
Oct 24, 2016 7:31 PM - Toro1966: Wondering if anyone has done that before?
Oct 24, 2016 7:33 PM - JeffTheMess: beats me translucent stuff aint my style
    Oct 24, 2016 7:36 PM - Toro1966: Well I just ordered the wash so I guess we'll see :)
Oct 24, 2016 7:37 PM - JeffTheMess: what did you print if I may ask
    Oct 24, 2016 7:40 PM - Toro1966: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:87691
Oct 24, 2016 7:42 PM - JeffTheMess: ah snap thats pretty cool
Oct 24, 2016 7:42 PM - Toro1966: Thanks. It looks really cool in PETG Yellow but I want to black wash it which will make it aged and will fill int he symbols because right now you really can't read them but they are there.
Oct 24, 2016 7:43 PM - JeffTheMess: yeah theres great vids on youtube about aging props
Oct 24, 2016 7:44 PM - Toro1966: Yeah, i have definitely watched a couple lol. but never tried it myself.
Oct 24, 2016 7:46 PM - JeffTheMess: lol yeah from what I here its hard to screw up but again these are people that have done it for years
Oct 24, 2016 7:52 PM - JeffTheMess: all right fellas going back to the hotel i'll catch up with you guys tomorrow peace out roboneers
Oct 24, 2016 8:13 PM - danzca6: These script kiddies are getting old

Oct 25, 2016 5:39 AM - danzca6: haha...just calculated what the wind chill is at 35F and traveling at 70mph. Maybe it's getting too cold for the motorcycle in the morning.
Oct 25, 2016 5:42 AM - danzca6: but then again, no need for caffeine in the morning
    Oct 25, 2016 7:38 AM - toymaker: hi
    Oct 25, 2016 7:39 AM - danzca6: Good morning toy
    Oct 25, 2016 7:39 AM - danzca6: any fun projects?
    Oct 25, 2016 8:09 AM - Geof: Hi gents.
Oct 25, 2016 8:11 AM - toymaker: working on sandbox #5 and got a few leads
Oct 25, 2016 12:23 PM - Chad Marsh: So I have a troubleshooting appointment for now (12:15) and the email said I was supposed to be online 5 minutes prior, which I was, assuming that means here?
Oct 25, 2016 12:27 PM - danzca6: That wouldn't be here if it is with Robo themselves. They didn't send you a link or something to open the online session?
Oct 25, 2016 12:30 PM - danzca6: I've never done an online appointment with them before.
Oct 25, 2016 1:10 PM - daniel871: And so goes another wonderfully well done bit of customer support.
Oct 25, 2016 2:28 PM - Geof: Ok guys...filament flavors of the day....corkfill on the robo, pla on the ditto, pla/semiflex on sigma, ngen then xt on the mk2, zortrax copolymer on m200. Now you guys...GO!
Oct 25, 2016 5:17 PM - Toro1966: Ok - at the risk of being let down and jinxing myself - mesh is the shit!
Oct 25, 2016 5:23 PM - Toro1966: Though I do think I might need to make an adjustment
    Oct 25, 2016 5:35 PM - Toro1966: Not sure what's causing this?

Oct 25, 2016 5:38 PM - Toro1966: Two different rolls of filament and similar results. I didn't notice this before Mesh, but that doesn't mean it wasn't happening, I have had other issues. And mesh appears to put down a perfect perimeter
Oct 25, 2016 5:40 PM - Toro1966: Wonder if it's crap on the bed? I have just been spraying and going. I don't clean it often because most of you said you don't need toi.
Oct 25, 2016 6:24 PM - Toro1966: Think I might have a micro clog. Or some burnt carbon since I ran out of filament the other day and I am sure it printed for a good hour or two after with no filament....

Oct 26, 2016 at 4:01 AM - danzca6: Spammers.... They have nothing better to do with there lives
Oct 26, 2016 at 4:03 AM - danzca6: What's your bed temp Toro and is that pla or petg?
    Oct 26, 2016 at 4:09 AM - danzca6: This thing is crazy http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1826736
    Oct 26, 2016 at 4:40 AM - Geof: spammers purged :D lol
Oct 26, 2016 at 5:43 AM - Toro1966: Hey Dan - bed temp was 55. I lowered to 50. That was Robo Metallic PLA
    Oct 26, 2016 at 5:51 AM - daniel871: Anthony Bourdain at a Waffle House:
Oct 26, 2016 at 5:52 AM - Geof: Toro, looks like your offset is to close in those pictures (hard to tell but looks like wagon wheel ruts in your first layer)
Oct 26, 2016 at 5:55 AM - danzca6: yeah you are right Geof...I couldn't see that very well on my phone this morning
Oct 26, 2016 at 5:55 AM - danzca6: Toro, when you do the MESH routine, do you have the bed and nozzle at temp? I did and I think that helps account for the expansion that happens at temps
Oct 26, 2016 at 5:56 AM - danzca6: may need to just do an offest G29 command or the MESH routine again
Oct 26, 2016 at 5:57 AM - Geof: I go on the tight side with the paper then use the offset or babystepping to make it right.
Oct 26, 2016 at 5:58 AM - Toro1966: Thanks guys. I'll probably do an offset since I like the way Mesh is laying down. I assume I need a positive offset - correct?
Oct 26, 2016 at 5:59 AM - Geof: Yes...positive is further from the bed.
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:02 AM - danzca6: It's all in WW's post for file downloads for mesh... "using G29 S4 Zn.nn where n.nn is a positive number to move further from the bed and negative to move closer"
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:04 AM - Toro1966: Thanks. I do have G29 S4 in one of my fff's. Just wanted to confirm I was going the correct way.
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:04 AM - Toro1966: Flip side is that the I3 seems to be printing PLA VERY WELL
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:04 AM - Toro1966: I haven't even opened the replacement yet. Probably dot hat this weekend.
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:06 AM - danzca6: keep track of the date...not sure if after so many days you will just own both of those i3 printers
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:07 AM - Geof: Danz...you say that like it would be a bad thing ;)
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:07 AM - danzca6: well...if he ended up getting billed for both maybe yeah
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:08 AM - danzca6: oh and I try to make a comment in my start/end scripts when it comes to postive and negative directions for offset. Confuses the heck out of me sometimes
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:09 AM - Geof: its super confusing now with mesh since the offsets are backwards, I have the same notation in mine...with mesh positive is further from the bed lol
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:10 AM - Geof: Danz hows the BN event going on your end?
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:10 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
    Oct 26, 2016 at 6:10 AM - danzca6: well, do to space, I will be a spectator
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:11 AM - Geof: Gotya. Thats not a bad thing though!
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:11 AM - Geof: Small store?
    Oct 26, 2016 at 6:11 AM - danzca6: morning bill
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:11 AM - Geof: good morning Bill
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:11 AM - danzca6: yeah and lots of interest I guess
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:11 AM - Bill Monroe: whats the latest?
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:11 AM - Geof: oh really? That sucks, sorry to hear!
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:12 AM - danzca6: they wanted to have a wider variety than just 3d printing which makes sense. No worries, I will still be there most of the day talking to folks
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:12 AM - danzca6: the latest? spam kiddies need to be kicked in the tail
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:13 AM - Geof: Yea I've got the floor for an hour and a half so my new boss and I are going to take 2 printers and set up and run a print for people to watch and do a QA and talk about the prints we do, then were gonna hang out for the rest of the day and do small talk
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:13 AM - danzca6: thanks to you and Mark for fighting the fight against the spammers
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:14 AM - Geof: No worries buddy, glad that were finally able to do something about it.
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:14 AM - danzca6: since our BN is in a big mall, it would be cool to have a faire throughout the whole mall someday...hoping it gets that big someday
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:17 AM - danzca6: you are lucky you ordered your prusa when you did Geof
    Oct 26, 2016 at 6:18 AM - danzca6: 3-4 week lead time now
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:19 AM - Geof: it was that much before, they just didn't say it until after you ordered! lol. I think I ended up getting mine the 3rd week
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:20 AM - Geof: Hell I'm currently waiting on a new PEI sheet and some random shit I ordered lol. everything they have is backorder now lol
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:20 AM - danzca6: 3-4 week just to ship and then there is the shipping time
    Oct 26, 2016 at 6:21 AM - danzca6: yeah
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:21 AM - danzca6: popularity has introduced some growing pains for them
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:22 AM - danzca6: I wonder, I should ask Josef if we would sell the kit minus the printed parts
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:22 AM - danzca6: I bet their printer farm is slammed
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:22 AM - Geof: Yep lol rightfully so, its an impressive machine.
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:23 AM - Geof: Im suprised they dont.
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:23 AM - Geof: The hardware side of it is dirt cheap lol
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:24 AM - danzca6: I'll ask him...might be the 3rd party suppliers that are causing the backlog though
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:24 AM - Geof: The bossman wants to recreate it. Lol waterjet the frame
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:25 AM - Geof: I'm betting in scraps around the shop we could make 2 or 3 frames. The printed parts are no biggie :D They give you all the files after you buy (well you have access to them )
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:26 AM - Geof: then again...might as well get it all from them and support :D
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:31 AM - danzca6: you can get the files online...the frame I think is for sale seperate already for cheap...the build plate will be the key. That is special made and he doesn't have extras for sale yet
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:31 AM - Geof: Ah the MK heatbed?
    Oct 26, 2016 at 6:33 AM - danzca6: yeah the MK42 heatbed
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:35 AM - danzca6: oh...I guess you could buy the upgrade kit...that comes with the heatbed
    Oct 26, 2016 at 6:36 AM - danzca6: http://shop.prusa3d.com/en/printer-upgrades/106-original-prusa-i3-plus-to-mk2-upgrade-kit.html
    Oct 26, 2016 at 6:36 AM - danzca6: Only $199
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:38 AM - danzca6: then you just need the frame, psu, Rambo mini, and maybe the LCD
    Oct 26, 2016 at 6:39 AM - danzca6: here's the frame http://shop.prusa3d.com/en/3d-printer-parts/24-prusa-i3-frame-galaxy-black.html
    Oct 26, 2016 at 6:39 AM - danzca6: I think that is the same as the MK2
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:41 AM - Geof: looks right, but I'm not seeing the two holes on the right side of the frame for the PSU.
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:43 AM - danzca6: the upgrade comes with the printed parts, but here they are for download as well http://www.prusa3d.com/prusa-i3-printable-parts/ the MK2 P.I.N.D.A. protector looks like it might be something for you to print out
    Oct 26, 2016 at 6:43 AM - danzca6: Geof...God gave us drills for that buddy :)
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:44 AM - danzca6: did yours come with the protector for the P.I.N.D.A
Oct 26, 2016 at 7:00 AM - Geof: No sir no cover and yes he did lpl
Oct 26, 2016 at 7:06 AM - danzca6: well maybe that cover will be a good thing, but ABS, do you have any sitting around?
Oct 26, 2016 at 7:11 AM - Geof: Lol about 7 rolls of the junk haha
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:35 AM - Toro1966: I have abouyt the same. My son had an UP mini first and all it printed was ABS
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:40 AM - Geof: Ive got one lrinter that can print it well lol.
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:41 AM - Geof: So if someone HAS to have it, it goes on there
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:44 AM - Toro1966: What's a good PLAish alternative to ABS with similar qualities.
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:46 AM - Geof: Depends on what you need temp wise. I sub on ngen, xt, petg etc
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:46 AM - Geof: Havent played with HT yet but its on my list to try.
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:47 AM - WheresWaldo: Not so happy Wednesday to you all (Cubbies lost).
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:47 AM - Geof: Ngen and xt are great for mechanical properties. If you have to vapor polish abs is the only thing available atm
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:47 AM - Toro1966: I like PETG but it is only translucent and I don't always want to print translucent
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:47 AM - Geof: Hey waldo. Yea that does make for a bad wednesday
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:48 AM - Geof: What are your needs toro
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:48 AM - Toro1966: I bought some XTC 3D and think I am going to try that out to see how it works.
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:48 AM - WheresWaldo: Toro eSUN makes solid color PETG
    Oct 26, 2016 at 8:48 AM - danzca6: that game was horrible....hopefully just nerves
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:49 AM - Toro1966: Didn't know that Waldo - will have to look for that solid color PETG. I use inland PETG all the time so I should be able to find it.
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:49 AM - WheresWaldo: I am not actually a Cubs fan, but my wife (from Chicago) is and I learned over may trials that it is best to agree with her on stuff like this.
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:49 AM - Toro1966: I was just looking at alternatives because soemtimes I want something stronger than PLA or that will withstand temps.
    Oct 26, 2016 at 8:50 AM - Toro1966: Exact reason I became a Seahawks fan 20 years ago Waldo...
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:50 AM - WheresWaldo: Inland is eSUN relabeled, so you might find the solid colors at Mircocenter or online.
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:50 AM - WheresWaldo: I knew there was something strange about you.
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:52 AM - WheresWaldo: My rundown is like this, Baseball - Mets and to keep peace the Cubs, Football - reluctantly the Panthers but prefer the Oregon Ducks, Hockey - Red Wings, Basketball - no one.
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:53 AM - WheresWaldo: I do think the best logo in all sports is the Chicago Chief Blackhawk!
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:54 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, I feel stupid this morning.
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:57 AM - WheresWaldo: Been fighting with MESH for the past couple of days thinking that the offset using G29 S4 Zn.nn was not working.
    Oct 26, 2016 at 8:57 AM - danzca6: why is that?
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:57 AM - WheresWaldo: Stupid bed flex got me. My offset is now 1.08 mm before it used to be around .6 mm
    Oct 26, 2016 at 8:58 AM - danzca6: the bed flexed another .5mm
Oct 26, 2016 at 8:59 AM - danzca6: oh, you mean between ABL and MESH
Oct 26, 2016 at 9:00 AM - WheresWaldo: I don't know why I didn't figure out the offset like this before. I homed all axes then moved to Z0 in the middle of the bed. Of course it was pushing on the glass, so I went to Octoprint and started moving X up .1 mm at a time until the nozzle just hovered over the bed, easy peasy, just to blind to see it.
    Oct 26, 2016 at 9:00 AM - danzca6: oh gotcha

Oct 26, 2016 at 9:01 AM - WheresWaldo: Took the resulting height and input it in G29 S4 and now it is perfect.
    Oct 26, 2016 at 9:01 AM - WheresWaldo: I meant I moved Z not X
Oct 26, 2016 at 9:01 AM - danzca6: with the IR you won't need to worry about flex anymore
    Oct 26, 2016 at 9:01 AM - danzca6: haha...I figured
Oct 26, 2016 at 9:02 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah, but I am going to repurpose the IR for the Eustathios
Oct 26, 2016 at 9:03 AM - danzca6: do you put the G29 S4 in your start gcode or is that something you can just send once
    Oct 26, 2016 at 9:03 AM - danzca6: I haven't used it yet with MESH
Oct 26, 2016 at 9:03 AM - WheresWaldo: Now I just need to get a genuine Fotek SSR and get rid of the relay I am using instead, so I can go back to PID controlled bed temps
Oct 26, 2016 at 9:04 AM - WheresWaldo: I think Jim3DBot and I came to the same conclusion, kinda overkill for MESH, since all mesh cares about is HOME when it is done properly.
Oct 26, 2016 at 9:05 AM - WheresWaldo: But we both see the value if you use some sort of sheet over the glass bed.
Oct 26, 2016 at 9:05 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan you need to use MESH, I get perfect layer 1's every print.
    Oct 26, 2016 at 9:06 AM - danzca6: I am using MESH
    Oct 26, 2016 at 9:06 AM - danzca6: I just haven't needed to add the G29 S4 command yet
Oct 26, 2016 at 9:06 AM - WheresWaldo: Usually there is a f'up somewhere else, but never in the first layer.
Oct 26, 2016 at 9:08 AM - WheresWaldo: Dam another failed print. I am now fighting Thermal runaway on the bed of all places. Need to see what I messed up in Configuration.h
    Oct 26, 2016 at 9:08 AM - WheresWaldo: Damn
    Oct 26, 2016 at 9:09 AM - danzca6: bleeding edge hurts man
Oct 26, 2016 at 9:11 AM - WheresWaldo: Yep, But stupid is as stupid does and I can't wait to jump into UBL.
Oct 26, 2016 at 9:16 AM - Toro1966: I need to add a slight offset to my Mesh based ont he results last night. Looking very good and conssitent, but jsut pushing a little too much.
Oct 26, 2016 at 9:18 AM - danzca6: so again, since I haven't used the G29 S4 with MESH yet, is that a one time command and then send M500 to save or is that something needed in the startup gcode?
Oct 26, 2016 at 9:19 AM - danzca6: I hope one time. Then I can have gcode on an SD that won't need to be touched if I have to make adjustments to offset in the future.
Oct 26, 2016 at 9:19 AM - WheresWaldo: Toro, I use the offset to get correct measurement of layer 1, not for adhesion. In S3D you have a option called 'First Layer Width' under the Layer tab, this is basically an extrusion multiplier that only affects layer 1 , I set this to an appropriate amount over 100% to get the proper adhesion.
Oct 26, 2016 at 9:19 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, yes it is one time only.
Oct 26, 2016 at 9:20 AM - WheresWaldo: Survives reflash just like MESH does.
    Oct 26, 2016 at 9:20 AM - danzca6: hi-5
    Oct 26, 2016 at 9:21 AM - danzca6: that's awesome
Oct 26, 2016 at 9:21 AM - danzca6: Why did I wait to go to MESH so long
    Oct 26, 2016 at 9:21 AM - danzca6: thanks WW
    Oct 26, 2016 at 9:21 AM - danzca6: I can't wait to see what UBL brings
Oct 26, 2016 at 9:22 AM - WheresWaldo: To continue.. I want to be able to specify a size for the layer and actually have it that size, not something smaller to account for bed adhesion. I know this is contrary to accepted workarounds, but it makes much more sense to me to have the printer mechanically correct then adjust the amount of plastic extruded as needed.
Oct 26, 2016 at 9:25 AM - danzca6: I normally see about .05mm of squish on the first layer. So if first layer is .25 then I measure it and get .2. Not horrible, but I hear you when dealing with fittings, holes, and such
Oct 26, 2016 at 9:27 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah I saw about that too, but it introduced errors in the final dimensions. It is bad enough that these machines while being precise, are subject to so many kludges and assumptions to get them to work the way they are supposed to, that is why I want o teliminate all the mechanical ones I can.
Oct 26, 2016 at 9:30 AM - WheresWaldo: Okay 8 hour print just started, we'll see how long it goes.
    Oct 26, 2016 at 9:34 AM - danzca6: fingers crossed
Oct 26, 2016 at 10:07 AM - daniel871: If .05mm on one layer is going to kill the part, you need to reevaluate the fit tolerances in the design.
Oct 26, 2016 at 11:10 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, you can continue printing parts that are not the size you model them. ;)
Oct 26, 2016 at 11:20 AM - daniel871: The equivalent of +/-.002" is easily the best you can expect in any plastic cnc operation.
Oct 26, 2016 at 11:32 AM - NFOsec: You should be able to print an 80 hour print Waldo, just run out of filament. :)
Oct 26, 2016 at 12:40 PM - Toro1966: Thanks guys - sorry was away. My issue with Mesh righ tnow is that with MESH alone and NO offset, I am too close to the bed in some areas. So should I change the offset or just change the first layer width to less than 100%?
Oct 26, 2016 at 12:53 PM - Geof: Thats all personal preference. Waldo uses the first layer extrusion, I use the offset :D. All about what you want and how you want to model your items/clean up for that "squished" first layer.
Oct 26, 2016 at 1:01 PM - danzca6: microsoft paint is going to allow minecraft players to export 3d models from the game into paint and 3d print...I better get that second machine quick
Oct 26, 2016 at 1:02 PM - danzca6: Toro my vote is for offset adjustment....and with mesh you only need to send the G29 S4 once and M500 to save. No need to put it in your startup code. So pretty slick really.
Oct 26, 2016 at 1:11 PM - daniel871: Change your Mesh sampling to do a 9 x 9 sampling routine and see if that first layer turns out better.
Oct 26, 2016 at 1:11 PM - daniel871: Or whatever the firmware notes say is the max recommended sampling.
    Oct 26, 2016 at 1:12 PM - daniel871: (Maybe 7 x 7?)
Oct 26, 2016 at 1:12 PM - danzca6: the layer seems even, just evenly smooshed...I think the thickness of the paper plays into that
    Oct 26, 2016 at 1:12 PM - danzca6: man 4x4 seemed to take forever
Oct 26, 2016 at 1:13 PM - daniel871: Don't use paper. Raise the nozzle off the glass, then jog down until you touch it. Have a bright light source shining on the glass after cleaning it so you can more easily tell when you make contact without flexing the glass.
Oct 26, 2016 at 1:14 PM - daniel871: Then set an offset like you would with the Auto-leveling routine to offset the entire mesh, and go from there.
Oct 26, 2016 at 1:15 PM - daniel871: Or get an MK2 that does everything automatically and use it and be done with fiddling. :p
Oct 26, 2016 at 1:17 PM - danzca6: hmmm, that's another way of doing it. I also could use the IR and lower until I see it trigger as well
Oct 26, 2016 at 1:21 PM - daniel871: I was going to suggest that but the MK2 dig was too good to pass up.
Oct 26, 2016 at 1:21 PM - danzca6: daniel, did you probe hot or cold when doing mesh?
    Oct 26, 2016 at 1:22 PM - daniel871: I probed cold.
Oct 26, 2016 at 1:23 PM - danzca6: i did hot thinking about expansion, but if you are going to set an offset anyway I guess it really doesn't matter
Oct 26, 2016 at 1:23 PM - daniel871: Also back when my Robo printers were alive the code for Mesh didn't have the Z-lift that it does now.
    Oct 26, 2016 at 1:23 PM - danzca6: oh that's true
Oct 26, 2016 at 1:24 PM - daniel871: Basically you'd probe, save the probe location and it would home again and then skid across the glass to the next probe point.
Oct 26, 2016 at 1:24 PM - danzca6: I would not like the nozzle scraping accross
Oct 26, 2016 at 1:37 PM - Geof: The mk2 is nice but you still have babystepping to do to get it just right :) not conpletely automated print and go ;)
    Oct 26, 2016 at 3:19 PM - Toro1966: so I can set the positive offset - correct?
Oct 26, 2016 at 3:38 PM - danzca6: positive number to move further from the bed
    Oct 26, 2016 at 3:38 PM - danzca6: so yes
    Oct 26, 2016 at 3:42 PM - Toro1966: Thanks. Trying it now
    Oct 26, 2016 at 3:46 PM - Toro1966: Better - need to add a bit more. I only went to .1 Probably need .15
Oct 26, 2016 at 3:51 PM - Toro1966: Bought some SUNLU filament. Hope it works because I realy like the color (bright green) and it was cheap1
    Oct 26, 2016 at 3:55 PM - danzca6: was it a PLA or PETG
    Oct 26, 2016 at 4:03 PM - Toro1966: PLA
Oct 26, 2016 at 4:25 PM - Toro1966: I can babystep up as well as down in z direction - correct?
    Oct 26, 2016 at 4:34 PM - danzca6: yes
Oct 26, 2016 at 4:36 PM - Toro1966: Thanks. Going to use that to try it out. That's in mm correct? It is three decimal places which is why I ask
    Oct 26, 2016 at 4:39 PM - danzca6: yes
    Oct 26, 2016 at 4:40 PM - danzca6: it's fraction of a mm
    Oct 26, 2016 at 4:41 PM - Toro1966: but .100 should be .1mm - correct?
    Oct 26, 2016 at 4:48 PM - danzca6: right
Oct 26, 2016 at 4:48 PM - Geof: Hello gents
    Oct 26, 2016 at 4:48 PM - danzca6: Mr G
Oct 26, 2016 at 4:48 PM - Geof: How are ya
    Oct 26, 2016 at 4:49 PM - danzca6: we are up by 1...so good
    Oct 26, 2016 at 4:49 PM - Geof: ?
    Oct 26, 2016 at 4:50 PM - danzca6: oh good grief man....the Cubs game...hahaha
    Oct 26, 2016 at 4:51 PM - Geof: Lol gotya.printibg tonight?
Oct 26, 2016 at 4:52 PM - Geof: I cant watch the games missed all of them this year so if i start now itll be a jinx
    Oct 26, 2016 at 4:53 PM - Toro1966: Hola Geof
Oct 26, 2016 at 4:53 PM - danzca6: no...wouldn't be able to hear the game if the printer is running. So sitting with my wife and enjoying the game
Oct 26, 2016 at 4:54 PM - Toro1966: Can't get this damn duplicator to print a file From the DS card. Prints some but not others. All sliced with S3D. Also tried a differen SD card - same issue.
Oct 26, 2016 at 4:55 PM - Geof: Thats good to have some couple time. Hi toro
Oct 26, 2016 at 4:58 PM - Toro1966: Reformatted the microsd - wish me luck
    Oct 26, 2016 at 5:26 PM - Toro1966: [IMG]
    Oct 26, 2016 at 5:27 PM - Toro1966: [IMG]
    Oct 26, 2016 at 5:29 PM - 2brosmanufacturing: hey
Oct 26, 2016 at 5:31 PM - Geof: Looks good toro. Hi 2bros.
Oct 26, 2016 at 5:40 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Geof. Still have to blackwash it so you can actually see the symbols that are printed in it.
Oct 26, 2016 at 5:48 PM - 2brosmanufacturing: I remeber awhile ago seeing a print I could put on the none stepper side of the robo to help with the auto leveling, cant remember where I seen it now
Oct 26, 2016 at 5:50 PM - Geof: You mean a counter weight ? Shouldnt need it if the x is level with the bed
Oct 26, 2016 at 5:51 PM - 2brosmanufacturing: yea, ok just rember seeing it one time and thought it might help a little bit
Oct 26, 2016 at 5:52 PM - 2brosmanufacturing: but I did level my bed about better and that has helped
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:03 PM - 2brosmanufacturing: anyone else running the printinz build plate?
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:07 PM - Geof: Nope plain glass with mesh bed leveling
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:07 PM - Geof: I think KTM was running a zebra plate (similar)

Oct 26, 2016 at 6:08 PM - 2brosmanufacturing: chipped my glass in a few spots and figured I would try it, alot of people like em, just trying to figure out how I can attach it to the bed
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:08 PM - Toro1966: Same here. Plain glass with Mesh
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:09 PM - 2brosmanufacturing: he has the skin, i got the actual plate, might have to cut the cover to clear the clips
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:10 PM - Geof: Alot of people use binder clips, if your looking to go back to glass plain window glass with binder clips on the bed works well.
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:17 PM - 2brosmanufacturing: if robo even gets the build plates back in stock I will probably just buy a new one
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:21 PM - Geof: I did that once then used the chipped bed on my home build :)
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:21 PM - Geof: Chipped bed has the glass on it
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:22 PM - 2brosmanufacturing: 80% of my printing is down with pla and if I can print on the plate with out glue, it will be worth it, still want the glass for abs
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:39 PM - danzca6: Can get a piece of borsolate glass the same size or bigger. If bigger just cut it to size. You can paint the back side, glue some magnets in place, and then get a new heater.
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:40 PM - danzca6: Might be able to reuse old heater, but pita
Oct 26, 2016 at 6:54 PM - 2brosmanufacturing: im not worried about spending $60 for a new robo part
Oct 26, 2016 at 7:10 PM - danzca6: It's the wait more than anything. Not sure how many extras they are going to stock for us with the new printers coming
    Oct 26, 2016 at 7:10 PM - danzca6: Just saying, you've got options
Oct 26, 2016 at 7:40 PM - Toro1966: Do you guys have the wiring diagram for the r1+ ramps?
Oct 26, 2016 at 7:41 PM - danzca6: Nope... That was never released
Oct 26, 2016 at 7:42 PM - danzca6: What are you looking for?
    Oct 26, 2016 at 7:43 PM - Toro1966: Found it.
    Oct 26, 2016 at 7:43 PM - Toro1966:
    Oct 26, 2016 at 7:44 PM - danzca6: For the r1+?
    Oct 26, 2016 at 7:46 PM - Toro1966: Yup
    Oct 26, 2016 at 7:47 PM - Toro1966: [IMG]
Oct 26, 2016 at 7:54 PM - danzca6: Ok... Where did you find that
Oct 26, 2016 at 7:54 PM - danzca6: Was that in geofs conversion thread
    Oct 26, 2016 at 7:55 PM - Toro1966: Yup
    Oct 26, 2016 at 7:55 PM - Toro1966: I knew I saw it. Just was lazy lol

    Oct 27, 2016 6:20 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
Oct 27, 2016 6:44 AM - Geof: Good morning Bill
Oct 27, 2016 8:02 AM - daniel871: Can't get this one for false advertising. [IMG]
    Oct 27, 2016 9:22 AM - Toro1966: Morning all.
    Oct 27, 2016 9:45 AM - Geof: Morning toro
Oct 27, 2016 11:09 AM - Mike Kelly: dan/toro, bad news, order fell out
Oct 27, 2016 11:20 AM - Geof: sorry to hear Mike
Oct 27, 2016 11:24 AM - Toro1966: That sucks. We apreciate all of your efforts Mike. Thanks for taking it on. I know it's a pain to coordinate those. Is that because he doesn't want to discount something he's selling with demand?
    Oct 27, 2016 11:24 AM - Toro1966: Howdy Geof
Oct 27, 2016 11:38 AM - Geof: hows it goin today Toro?
Oct 27, 2016 11:43 AM - Toro1966: Pretty good Geof. What do you think of your Sigma?
Oct 27, 2016 11:43 AM - Toro1966: Kind of torqued at Prusa so I am not a MKII buyer - at elast for a while
Oct 27, 2016 11:44 AM - Geof: I love the machine, but its ungodly loud and currently waiting on a new SD reader. a few more updates and I think it will be a contender.
Oct 27, 2016 11:44 AM - Geof: its dual material DOES work though, so the rest is probably just me being picky. Thinking about buying one?
Oct 27, 2016 11:44 AM - Geof: Dont let the group buy get you down, its a hell of a machine (the MK2) I'm thrilled with mine. been running production since day 3 non stop.
Oct 27, 2016 11:50 AM - Toro1966: I really want one - but I think it's frankly very SHITTY of him and the community that made him to say "I'm making too much money to give you the normal discount I would be giving if you ordered a lot of my printers."
Oct 27, 2016 11:50 AM - Toro1966: I meant SHITTY of him to say that to the community that made him
Oct 27, 2016 11:59 AM - daniel871: On the other hand, given how many companies straight up ripped off his designs and didn't give proper credit, I'd say he has a right to act bitterly about things every now and then.
Oct 27, 2016 11:59 AM - Toro1966: Yep - he can - and I can walk away from a sale that he apparently doesn't need or want.
Oct 27, 2016 12:00 PM - daniel871: Also, the standard price he has put on the machine is a screaming deal when you compare it to other machines that either don't perform at the same level for the price or are priced even higher and still don't perform.
Oct 27, 2016 12:01 PM - daniel871: Anybody that wants to say you don't get your money's worth by buying from/supporting the actual Prusa company is nuts.
Oct 27, 2016 12:01 PM - Toro1966: Not the point at all. I'm not arguing that. What I am saying is he had a program in place and gave a quote for group buys. Then because he is selling them popularly, he backs out. Yes, that's capitalism, and as an MBA, I understand it. However, it shows no integrity.
Oct 27, 2016 12:02 PM - daniel871: Where was the program posted at, exactly?
Oct 27, 2016 12:02 PM - Toro1966: He provided the quote to MK and his folks.
    Oct 27, 2016 12:02 PM - Toro1966: It was 20% 20 or more.
Oct 27, 2016 12:02 PM - Toro1966: They put the order in, he rejected it.
Oct 27, 2016 12:02 PM - danzca6: Ah, I don't see it being a big deal. I'll still order one. Cubs won last night. Not much can make me upset today :)
Oct 27, 2016 12:03 PM - Toro1966: Lol - hey Dan. I just hate when peopel don't honor their word.
Oct 27, 2016 12:05 PM - Toro1966: I am going to email him and see how he responds before I order one from him. There is a language barrier and I want to make sure I understand his side before I write him off. I am nobody, and he probably won't care, but either your word means something, or it doesn't.
Oct 27, 2016 12:05 PM - danzca6: Yeah I'm not sure what the actual conversation between Josef and MKs team was so I can't confirm there was already a promised deal or not.
Oct 27, 2016 12:05 PM - Toro1966: I can't imagine MK taking orders and interest if it was conditional.....
Oct 27, 2016 12:08 PM - danzca6: I didn't send any money yet or was asked for it so I didn't see it as a done deal until my money was sent.
Oct 27, 2016 12:09 PM - danzca6: I understand your feeling about it. It does suck to get hopes up on a deal and it falls through
Oct 27, 2016 12:10 PM - Toro1966: You're completely right Dan - in the end I am out nothing but it just leaves a bad taste how it went down. I have no doubt ordering it now - individually - will get it to me quicker than it would have under the group buy
Oct 27, 2016 12:10 PM - daniel871: Unless it was posted in writing by the seller, all claims of a deal are essentially bullshit.
Oct 27, 2016 12:11 PM - Toro1966: Your opinion Daniel - doesn't change my opinion of how it went down
Oct 27, 2016 12:11 PM - daniel871: Also, Josef probably got tired of waiting around for enough people to commit to anything so he said forget it.
Oct 27, 2016 12:11 PM - Toro1966: Lol - what waiting around. This thing happened in days....
Oct 27, 2016 12:12 PM - Toro1966: My personal guess, and I am trying to give him the benefit of the doubt because by all accounts he is great guy and I believe he should get that benefit - is that he is overwhelmed right now because of the success and they are falling behind.
Oct 27, 2016 12:12 PM - Toro1966: I probably wouldn't want to commit to any order of that size until I was caught up.
Oct 27, 2016 12:13 PM - daniel871: Again, did Josef Prusa ever post an ordering option anywhere for a group buy?
Oct 27, 2016 12:13 PM - daniel871: As far as he's concerned you'll be some guy out of literal thousands claiming he offered a deal, that isn't even the guy you talked to about said deal.
Oct 27, 2016 12:14 PM - Toro1966: Hence the icnrease to a month plus shipping status. Add into that the holidays and I think the delay will get worse before it gets better. Daniel - it doesn't always work that way in this community. You know that as well as I do. \
Oct 27, 2016 12:14 PM - danzca6: Again, not privileged to the actual conversation to do a he said they said. I was just going to be one of the lucky recipients of a discounted printer. I don't want to point fingers without facts.
Oct 27, 2016 12:15 PM - daniel871: Josef Prusa owes nobody jack shit as far as explanations go, especially not to someone that wasn't even privy to the actual discussion between Josef Prusa and Mike Kelly and whoever else was trying to organize the group buy.
Oct 27, 2016 12:16 PM - Toro1966: Just because he didn't post it online for all to see doesn't mean it wasn't agreed to. Again, he may not care at all what I have to say - if he's a good business man - he will - because every customer or potential customer has an impact.
Oct 27, 2016 12:16 PM - Toro1966: Again - Love your Opinions Daniel - love to hear them - but I have my own as well - and you don't have to like those either
    Oct 27, 2016 12:17 PM - Geof: hey guys :D looks like a lively discussion :D
    Oct 27, 2016 12:17 PM - Toro1966: Hola Geof
    Oct 27, 2016 12:17 PM - Toro1966: We're just having a friendly chat.
Oct 27, 2016 12:17 PM - daniel871: On the other hand, every single positive Youtube review and the many, many individual orders means the cost in his personal time to deal with arranging that kind of deal vs. someone lower down in the company that still has the authority to make sales like that means he doesn't have to care about an individual opinion about sales practices.
Oct 27, 2016 12:18 PM - Geof: fun tidbit of info...I talked with customer service rep who agreed to send me a PEI sheet and made it available to order...then in the next sentance said they wernt sure he'd even be able to send me one :D those guys are slammed and I dont think the right hand talks to left. normal growing pains I think of a smaller company thats getting big fast.
Oct 27, 2016 12:18 PM - daniel871: Also, someone may have pointed out to him the lack of buyer protection when allowing a group buy like that.
Oct 27, 2016 12:19 PM - Toro1966: Geof - i think you hit the nail on the head. That's what I mentioned earlier and is likley the reason for not wantinfg to sign up for anything that large until you get your stuff under control
Oct 27, 2016 12:19 PM - Toro1966: Daniel - Different topic - do you print anything other than PLA on your i3?
Oct 27, 2016 12:20 PM - daniel871: Like, a group of random people without even the cursory assumption of getting something like in a Kickstarter campaign can easily be cheated of their printers. Josef would be under a nasty liability risk if he actually agreed to something like that and then MK or whoever received the big shipment of printers said "Fuck ya'll I'm keeping these."
Oct 27, 2016 12:20 PM - Geof: their pretty backlogged, damn near the entire site is out of stock lol. They still ship fast...3 days to the states :D.
    Oct 27, 2016 12:20 PM - daniel871: I've printed PLA, ABS and PETG successfully on my i3.
Oct 27, 2016 12:20 PM - Geof: so far I've printed pla, taulman 910, XT, NGEN, wood and cork fill and....ABS :(
Oct 27, 2016 12:21 PM - Geof: Daniel you have the original?
    Oct 27, 2016 12:21 PM - daniel871: No, mine is the Monoprice knock-off.
Oct 27, 2016 12:21 PM - Toro1966: How did the Taulman work? Cork souns cool.
    Oct 27, 2016 12:21 PM - Geof: ah gotya.
Oct 27, 2016 12:21 PM - daniel871: I'm setting money aside to get the Original next year.
Oct 27, 2016 12:21 PM - Toro1966: PLA has come out very nicely on mine.
Oct 27, 2016 12:21 PM - Geof: Taulman worked fine, like all nylons a little glue stick and z offset.
Oct 27, 2016 12:21 PM - daniel871: ABS was as simple as putting a cardboard box over the printer while it was running.
Oct 27, 2016 12:22 PM - Toro1966: PETG not so much. Haven't tried the others.
Oct 27, 2016 12:22 PM - Geof: cork is a nice material. prints easy.
Oct 27, 2016 12:22 PM - Toro1966: Hadn't thought about the box. Simple and cool idea.
    Oct 27, 2016 12:22 PM - daniel871: Metal Gear i3.
Oct 27, 2016 12:22 PM - Toro1966: Does it print like PLA or something else Geof?
Oct 27, 2016 12:22 PM - Geof: Daniel, I wonder if the upgrade kit would work for the clones?
Oct 27, 2016 12:22 PM - Geof: like PLA but a little hotter.
Oct 27, 2016 12:23 PM - daniel871: It wouldn't, given that the control board on the clones is barely capable of running the heaters.
Oct 27, 2016 12:23 PM - Geof: I think I'm printing it at 70 on the bed and 205 on the hotend vs 35-50 on the bed and 185-190 hotend Toro.
Oct 27, 2016 12:23 PM - daniel871: It's less about processing speed and more about the power it's capable of handling.
Oct 27, 2016 12:23 PM - daniel871: (lots of people having to replace connectors on the board with beefier connections so they don't burn up)
Oct 27, 2016 12:23 PM - Geof: Ah gotya. Didn't realize there was that big of a difference between them.
Oct 27, 2016 12:24 PM - Toro1966: Ahh. Got it. Might have to try some cork. How does it look printed.? I have seen pics but it's hard to tell.
Oct 27, 2016 12:24 PM - Geof: I just print with ABS slurry on the PEI, fans off. 240 hotend 80 bed :D
Oct 27, 2016 12:24 PM - Geof: you got twitter Toro?
Oct 27, 2016 12:24 PM - daniel871: I would think that anyone taking the upgrade MK2 kit and trying to adapt it to the Monoprice i3 is in for a major headache.
    Oct 27, 2016 12:25 PM - Toro1966: I do - but haven't twittered ever. (I know it's tweeted :) ) I need to reactivate the account. I'll try and do that this weekend.
Oct 27, 2016 12:25 PM - Geof: sounds that way daniel.
Oct 27, 2016 12:25 PM - Geof: I post most of my fun prints on there. I'll see if I can DM you a picture on here if I have it still.
    Oct 27, 2016 12:25 PM - Toro1966: Excellent - once I get it back up - I'll follow you.
Oct 27, 2016 12:27 PM - Geof: I've got the small one on my phone, I sent it to you. On my twitter I had a large and small one. the cork fill prints nice and feels sort of like wood filament but the texture is softer and prints nicer :D
Oct 27, 2016 12:27 PM - danzca6: Yeah those looked great Geof. That was colorfab cork?
Oct 27, 2016 12:28 PM - Toro1966: I was going to say - that picture looks great. Extrremely smooth.
Oct 27, 2016 12:28 PM - daniel871: Here is the gallery of prints I have at work from the Monoprice i3, again. [IMG]
Oct 27, 2016 12:29 PM - Toro1966: I've only had a couple of bad prints. It didn't like PETG. but probably because I had the nozzle too low.
Oct 27, 2016 12:29 PM - Geof: hey Danz yea they are colorfabb cork
    Oct 27, 2016 12:30 PM - Geof: daniel....holy hell thats a big benchy lol :D
    Oct 27, 2016 12:30 PM - Geof: nice prints! Thanks for sharing!@
    Oct 27, 2016 12:30 PM - Toro1966: That's a tugboat!
    Oct 27, 2016 12:31 PM - Toro1966: Do you use a raft Daniel?
    Oct 27, 2016 12:32 PM - Geof: Toro...rafts are icky.
Oct 27, 2016 12:32 PM - Toro1966: I don't ever use them - except on the I3. It is a tremendous PITA to remove th eprint fromt hat PEI. With the raft, comes off no problem.
Oct 27, 2016 12:33 PM - Toro1966: It is a pain because it uses more filament and it prints the raft at default. You can't change that speed - and it is slow....

Oct 27, 2016 12:33 PM - Geof: shouldn't be hard at all to remove the prints from pei?
Oct 27, 2016 12:34 PM - Geof: I know on my PEI i have a more "round" first layer, not so squished as I do on the robo and it takes a small smack with the handle of my scraper and the parts in my hand.
Oct 27, 2016 12:37 PM - Toro1966: Whatever this sheet they put on, prints stick - very well...That said, maybe I need to squish the first layer less - lol.
Oct 27, 2016 12:38 PM - Geof: PEI is an odd beast to get use to when you go from bare glass (all my other printers except the MK2 and the zortrax) to it
    Oct 27, 2016 12:39 PM - Toro1966: It's probably more like Build-tak
Oct 27, 2016 12:39 PM - Geof: more round first layer, it sticks well, I've done very large prints on that mk2 since I have it and the rounder layer seems to be the key.....or a relatively sharp chisel and careful :D
    Oct 27, 2016 12:39 PM - Toro1966: But still a PITA LOL
Oct 27, 2016 12:39 PM - Geof: lol you can always put a sheet of glass on it. I've thought about it with the MK2 but not sure if I want to go down that road when it works like it does.
Oct 27, 2016 12:39 PM - Toro1966: What fan mounts are you guys using with your Robo/E3DV6 setup?
    Oct 27, 2016 12:40 PM - Toro1966: Exactly Geof - that's my problem. It's actually printing and sticking - that's most of the battle :)
Oct 27, 2016 12:42 PM - Geof: I use the ones someone remixed of marquis on thingiverse. I think it was the ont hat said too small fix or something like that.
Oct 27, 2016 12:42 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Geof - going to have to check them out. I also need to print them in ABS. Printed them in PLA - but they are now sagging at the bottom. Weird.
Oct 27, 2016 12:43 PM - Geof: I did mine in PETG. works out fine. you could always step it up to NGEN or XT if you have any laying around. if you dont holler at me and I'll run some for you.
Oct 27, 2016 12:47 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Geof. I have plenty of PETG - I'll try that first. I imagine given their size, I could do fine with ABS as well.
Oct 27, 2016 12:55 PM - daniel871: If you have Simplify3D you can edit the Raft settings.
Oct 27, 2016 12:56 PM - daniel871: Also no, never used Raft on the Monoprice. I just cheated and made two processes. One .3mm layer in one process, then the rest .2mm or whatever for the remainder of the print height.
Oct 27, 2016 12:56 PM - daniel871: First layer does a brim, remaining process just does whatever with no scripting for Brim or whatever.
Oct 27, 2016 1:17 PM - danzca6: S3d allows you to define first layer height separate from the rest. I wish it wasn't done by a percentage. I always want my first layer to be .3mm and the rest whatever.
    Oct 27, 2016 1:20 PM - Geof: 300% of .1-.3 yea?
    Oct 27, 2016 1:20 PM - Geof: :D
    Oct 27, 2016 1:22 PM - Toro1966: Thanks guys.
    Oct 27, 2016 1:23 PM - danzca6: Yeah yeah... Geof...haha
Oct 27, 2016 1:24 PM - danzca6: Why not have a preference to just say it as .3mm
Oct 27, 2016 1:28 PM - danzca6: Same with first layer speed. Should be able to make it a constant instead of a percentage of the regular print speed
Oct 27, 2016 1:30 PM - daniel871: I use two processes because if I take the definitions literally it won't do a .3mm layer if you put 300% in for a .1mm print layer height for the rest of the layers.
Oct 27, 2016 1:30 PM - daniel871: Not properly anyway, it'll just offset up to .3mm while extruding the normal amount of plastic for a .1mm layer.
    Oct 27, 2016 1:31 PM - danzca6: I don't think that is accurate from my limited s3d experience
    Oct 27, 2016 1:31 PM - danzca6: If it is, then that's dumb :)
    Oct 27, 2016 1:42 PM - Geof: Lol works for me :)
Oct 27, 2016 1:43 PM - daniel871: Do something real crazy and try a 390% first layer and .1mm layer on the general settings.
Oct 27, 2016 1:43 PM - daniel871: My replacement Monoprice is still in transit so I can't test it myself yet.
    Oct 27, 2016 1:43 PM - Geof: Just like 60 mm/s 1st layer at 50%= 30mm/s first layer speed
Oct 27, 2016 1:50 PM - danzca6: Geof I know but I want it to always be 30mm/s and not have to change the percentage if I changed the general print speed. Maybe I'll just do what Daniel does and always make a separate process for layer 1
Oct 27, 2016 1:56 PM - danzca6: Just a couple future options that would be nice
Oct 27, 2016 1:56 PM - Geof: Ah gotya. Bein so picky ;)
Oct 27, 2016 1:58 PM - danzca6: Well these are just 2 features that Cura has that is like them to have in s3d
Oct 27, 2016 2:00 PM - danzca6: One more actually... Skirt can be defined as a number of outlines or min length. That way on small objects it makes at least a skirt that is long enough to properly be extruding
Oct 27, 2016 2:00 PM - danzca6: OK... Done being picky... Go Cubs!
    Oct 27, 2016 2:01 PM - danzca6: Haha
Oct 27, 2016 2:03 PM - Geof: Danz...more circles lmao. Shoot them a message. They may just add it to an update !
Oct 27, 2016 2:20 PM - danzca6: I will do just that... Never hurts to ask
    Oct 27, 2016 2:38 PM - Geof: Right !
    Oct 27, 2016 2:39 PM - WheresWaldo: Gentlemen
    Oct 27, 2016 2:40 PM - danzca6: Done... I'll see what comes of it
Oct 27, 2016 2:43 PM - WheresWaldo: You really expect S3D to add anything useful, seems all they can update is printer profiles, not much of anything new since 3.0. Even this new update still has no compelling reasons to upgrade. This besides the price are two things I still dislike about S3D. I am really hoping Cura gives it a run for it's money. I've also given up hope that Slic3r will compete, only one developer and nothing new since the release of 1.2.9 (June 2015).
Oct 27, 2016 2:57 PM - Geof: I really enjoy the results and performance I get out of s3d. I seem to have issues getting as good of results from cura. Even with my sigma s3d does better than cura :) and they have a sigma based cura lol
    Oct 27, 2016 2:57 PM - Geof: And hi Waldo :)
Oct 27, 2016 3:02 PM - WheresWaldo: Slicing speed is better with S3D than all the free ones, tool paths seem better with Cura than all others. Slic3r has more options than all of them. I still would recommend that the logical upgrade from MC is Cura first then S3D. They just don't seem to listen to their customer base about what features they need.
Oct 27, 2016 3:03 PM - WheresWaldo: And hello Geof.
Oct 27, 2016 3:09 PM - Geof: Good points. It does seem to be you get what you get type of thing and cura does evolve fast it seems. Ita much better now than a few years ago
Oct 27, 2016 4:34 PM - danzca6: Cura is tied to Ultimaker and yes they have made many many improvements in offerings with 2.x, but I just wonder at what point they will just make it for Ultimaker. May never, but just a worry. I do enjoy Cura and those 3 updates i mentioned above for S3D are all part of Cura.
Oct 27, 2016 4:34 PM - danzca6: Training all day wears me out
Oct 27, 2016 4:46 PM - Geof: Hi danz. I bet buddy sorry to hear
    Oct 27, 2016 4:47 PM - danzca6: oh it's just 2 days...daughter laughs at me when I tell her I'm back in school
Oct 27, 2016 4:47 PM - Geof: Backpack and tape on the nose piece?
    Oct 27, 2016 4:48 PM - danzca6: oh that's everyday ... hahaha
Oct 27, 2016 4:48 PM - Geof: Lol!!! Fair enough
    Oct 27, 2016 4:54 PM - danzca6: got my optical sensors...so now I play
Oct 27, 2016 4:55 PM - danzca6: hope these things don't end up blinding me
    Oct 27, 2016 4:55 PM - danzca6: haha...I know...not possible
    Oct 27, 2016 5:02 PM - Geof: Lol :) optical instead of ir ?
Oct 27, 2016 5:09 PM - danzca6: oh, this is for a whole other reason than Z limit
    Oct 27, 2016 5:14 PM - Toro1966: evening all
    Oct 27, 2016 5:26 PM - danzca6: Hey Toro
    Oct 27, 2016 5:49 PM - Toro1966: What up Dan
Oct 27, 2016 5:50 PM - danzca6: trying to get my new toy to work
    Oct 27, 2016 6:02 PM - Geof: Which ya doin danz ?
    Oct 27, 2016 6:02 PM - Geof: Hi toro
    Oct 27, 2016 6:03 PM - danzca6: making a filament runout sensor
Oct 27, 2016 6:03 PM - Geof: Oh yea ! Duh I knew that lol
Oct 27, 2016 6:03 PM - Geof: If anyone can you can
    Oct 27, 2016 6:04 PM - danzca6: ha...it's all new to me...but getting there
Oct 27, 2016 6:04 PM - danzca6: saw the code in the firmware and got curious on getting it to work
Oct 27, 2016 6:04 PM - danzca6: I figure if the R2/C2 can have it, why not the R1 family
    Oct 27, 2016 6:05 PM - Geof: You software guys :)
    Oct 27, 2016 6:05 PM - Geof: I can't keep up lol
Oct 27, 2016 6:06 PM - danzca6: I got 3 opticals...Since I have the IR for Z, I should look at changing X and Y out for optical and the 3rd for the filament sensor
    Oct 27, 2016 6:06 PM - danzca6: they are kinda neat
Oct 27, 2016 6:07 PM - danzca6: once I get this working out of the printer I will have to design a mount
    Oct 27, 2016 6:07 PM - danzca6: that's the fun part
Oct 27, 2016 6:07 PM - Geof: Lol I like the mechanical ones, easy to test and fix :)
    Oct 27, 2016 6:08 PM - danzca6: pfff...these are no contact...so no switch to wear out
    Oct 27, 2016 6:08 PM - Geof: :) ok I'm in then
    Oct 27, 2016 6:08 PM - danzca6: haha...your arm twists easy
    Oct 27, 2016 6:09 PM - Geof: Yea.... I mean no! Mechanical
    Oct 27, 2016 6:09 PM - danzca6: haha
Oct 27, 2016 6:14 PM - Geof: Danz ...printing a tree frog 200% scale in that corkfill
Oct 27, 2016 6:14 PM - Geof: Damn robo just keeps a chugging out prints lol.
    Oct 27, 2016 6:14 PM - danzca6: nice...which machine
    Oct 27, 2016 6:14 PM - Geof: Lol :)
Oct 27, 2016 6:15 PM - Geof: Mk2 is in production until tomorrow
Oct 27, 2016 6:15 PM - Geof: Trying to use up the last of my old ngen stock but she be moisture ridden lol pop pop pop
Oct 27, 2016 6:16 PM - Geof: It's a very old spool, like back when my robo was new, I found it behind the desk today on the floor lol idk how long it's been back there
    Oct 27, 2016 6:17 PM - danzca6: when filament goes wild
Oct 27, 2016 6:17 PM - Geof: Wierd part is I can't even find the box so I must have thought I'd used it all
    Oct 27, 2016 6:18 PM - danzca6: did you see Chuck's filament racer a couple weeks ago
Oct 27, 2016 6:19 PM - danzca6: he used old used up spools for the wheels
Oct 27, 2016 6:19 PM - Geof: Yea I saw that. The lady keeps most mine for art projects lol I keep 4 for spool rewinding
Oct 27, 2016 6:23 PM - danzca6: well enough play for tonight. Time to hang study and get ready for tomorrow...take care
    Oct 27, 2016 6:25 PM - Geof: Ttyl buddy

    Oct 28, 2016 4:54 AM - Toro1966: Hola Bill.
    Oct 28, 2016 4:54 AM - Toro1966: How goes life in Cali?
Oct 28, 2016 4:57 AM - Bill Monroe: sweet couple of storms are moving through but nothing to worry about... you?
Oct 28, 2016 4:59 AM - Toro1966: Not too bad. Yoyo weather here. 37 for a low yesterday and now 81 for a high this weekend
Oct 28, 2016 5:00 AM - Bill Monroe: heh ya.. now 2.0 wants me to add a rain roof to her yoga deck...
Oct 28, 2016 5:01 AM - Bill Monroe: started off as just a simple platform in the minimalist simple style, to "honor the meditative environment"
    Oct 28, 2016 5:02 AM - Bill Monroe: now, it's got heaters and a sound system :)
    Oct 28, 2016 5:02 AM - Toro1966: Lol - doesn't it always start that way.
Oct 28, 2016 5:03 AM - Bill Monroe: aww it's ok.. as long as no walls to block my view
Oct 28, 2016 5:05 AM - Bill Monroe: cant believe there's hardly any aluminum screws on amazon
Oct 28, 2016 5:06 AM - Bill Monroe: and it looks like I'm going to have to fly to arizona to get nitric acid
Oct 28, 2016 5:09 AM - Toro1966: Wow - well that's not that far of a hike for you especially since you're flying yourself.
    Oct 28, 2016 5:11 AM - Bill Monroe: no, but it's still annoying :)
Oct 28, 2016 5:17 AM - Bill Monroe: i think I'll just media blast with AlOx and skip the etching... if that works well enough I'll save a lot of money and hassle
Oct 28, 2016 5:17 AM - Bill Monroe: i mean, all the exthing and desmutting is just to be sure the surface is clean.. media blast should be good enough
Oct 28, 2016 5:31 AM - Bill Monroe: woohoo! found some nitric acid online... decent quantity for a good price
    Oct 28, 2016 7:55 AM - Toro1966: Nice!

Oct 31, 2016 7:31 AM - JeffTheMess: how goes it
Oct 31, 2016 7:50 AM - Geof: going well. another wonderful work monday
    Oct 31, 2016 7:54 AM - JeffTheMess: pretty fun
Oct 31, 2016 7:56 AM - daniel871: I know one thing, I'll be glad when this election cycle is over and everything goes back to business as usual.
    Oct 31, 2016 7:57 AM - JeffTheMess: I can Co-sign that thought
Oct 31, 2016 7:58 AM - daniel871: Well, maybe one more set of interviews with Gary Johnson where they ask him the same questions he has a meltdown over again so he can go all Barney Fife with the way he pitches a fit about anyone questioning him.
Oct 31, 2016 8:01 AM - daniel871: This video is pretty funny. Dude acts like a child. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news...policy-poll-numbers-marijuana-interview-video
Oct 31, 2016 8:49 AM - Toro1966: Hey guys - what is the best utility to change a picture into a 3d object for printing?
Oct 31, 2016 8:55 AM - Geof: what do you mean toro?
Oct 31, 2016 8:56 AM - Geof: if you have a picture in SVG format you can import the image into fusion 360 but I dont think thats what your after?
Oct 31, 2016 9:12 AM - daniel871: If you're just wanting a Lithophane this utility has been pretty neat to use http://3dp.rocks/lithophane/
Oct 31, 2016 9:12 AM - daniel871: If you're talking about an actual 3d object from a 2d photograph or 2d JPG from somewhere on the internet or whatever: LOL, good luck.
Oct 31, 2016 9:39 AM - Toro1966: Yes - I am talking about taking a JPEG and turning it into an STL. I know there are utlities ont he internet that claim to do that, just wondering if anyone has used any and if they are any good?
Oct 31, 2016 9:44 AM - daniel871: Anything beyond "take this 2d image and turn it into a lithophane" is absolute BS, basically.
Oct 31, 2016 9:45 AM - daniel871: Or maybe "Take this 2d profile view and extrude it, but not actually make it a fully 3d object the way actually 3d modeling something will".
    Oct 31, 2016 9:48 AM - Toro1966: Ok. Thanks.
    Oct 31, 2016 10:05 AM - Toro1966: Hey Daniel - quick question on your i3?
Oct 31, 2016 10:06 AM - Toro1966: When I go to change position or extrude, it's like the LCD has a delay. I move the dial and it doesn't show the numbers moving up and then jumps. So it is seeing the movement but displaying it late -make sense?
Oct 31, 2016 10:23 AM - daniel871: Same thing happened on the Robo when I used an LCD controller on it.
Oct 31, 2016 10:24 AM - Toro1966: Really - ok - thanks. Glad mine isn't the only one. Ironically, my Robo doesn't do that at all with the LCD. It was sensitive until I changes the steps, etc, but it was never delayed.
Oct 31, 2016 10:28 AM - daniel871: It had a larger "buffer" before it would happen, but it would happen.
Oct 31, 2016 10:29 AM - daniel871: Basically, if you spin the wheel too quickly/get too far ahead of the current position the display basically pauses on updating the readout until it catches up.
Oct 31, 2016 10:29 AM - daniel871: Probably a resource management issue. Like rendering an image on a computer and having it hang up on updating the screen until it finishes rendering in the background.
Oct 31, 2016 10:30 AM - daniel871: Keep in mind that these are 8-bit controllers with very limited onboard memory to keep track of things.

Oct 31, 2016 1:03 PM - daniel871: Replacement Monoprice confirmed delivered according to the tracking software. Now I'll theoretically have the same printer some of you other lucky guys bought recently.
    Oct 31, 2016 1:03 PM - Toro1966: Nice!
Oct 31, 2016 1:51 PM - Geof: So 300 for tge printer and if within a year it breaks they send a new one...does the new one have a year warranty to ?
    Oct 31, 2016 1:54 PM - daniel871: I doubt it.
Oct 31, 2016 1:55 PM - daniel871: That would be pretty sweet if the new one came with all of the "This printer has a one year replacement warranty" paperwork.
Oct 31, 2016 1:55 PM - daniel871: I'd just send a seperate request 10 months from now referencing the serial number on the printer all "Hey can I get this replaced?" (if anything went wrong with it)
    Oct 31, 2016 2:06 PM - Geof: Right !
    Oct 31, 2016 2:15 PM - Toro1966: Mine prints like a champ.
Oct 31, 2016 2:15 PM - Toro1966: Hve gotten it to print PLA and PETG reliably.
Oct 31, 2016 7:25 PM - daniel871: Ok. Can confirm the replacement mp printer has all of the v2 upgrades.
Oct 31, 2016 7:27 PM - daniel871: Got it set up and leveled and now printing a basic PLA Adalinda dragon in Makergeeks Crystal PLA series blue filament using the default Wanhao i3 S3D profile with Acceleration @800 & Jerk @8.

Nov 1, 2016 7:41 PM - Toro1966: Well - just screwed up the i3. Went to do a cold pull and the filament snapped right above the hotend...No way to grab it. Going to have to dissassemble it and try ad pull it out that way.
Nov 1, 2016 7:42 PM - Toro1966: definitely not going to happen for the next week lol
Nov 1, 2016 8:10 PM - daniel871: Paper clip straightened out + pliers unless you really screwed up and pulled melted plastic up into the cooling block area.
Nov 1, 2016 8:10 PM - daniel871: Heat up, then push filament out with paper clip.
Nov 1, 2016 8:11 PM - daniel871: Then feed filament as normal with extruder.
Nov 1, 2016 8:12 PM - daniel871: In future, just cut filament off and feed fresh filament with extruder. Never cold pull the MK10.
Nov 1, 2016 8:24 PM - Toro1966: Think that's exactly what I did Daniel - but believe I got it fixed. Took it apart, heated it up, and then pushed it out. It's back together now and I am heating it up just to make sure everything works.
    Nov 1, 2016 8:24 PM - Toro1966: Don't think I'll be cold pulling this again...

Nov 2, 2016 at 5:42 AM - daniel871: Started my higher-strength Adalinda print last night, was still printing as I left for work (4 shells, 40% infill; vs. the old single shell 20% infill).
Nov 2, 2016 at 5:42 AM - daniel871: The exterior texture looked the same, but the coloring was much darker and I think it's going to look incredible.

Nov 4, 2016 at 6:53 AM - Geof: Good Morning all, hope all is well.
Nov 4, 2016 at 9:40 AM - JoshYourITGuy: So I bought an Amazon Echo Dot....besides this thing being creepy (it can here you in another room with the door shut), I am going to tinker with it and IFTTT to see if I can get it to talk to either Octoprint or Astroprint to be able to print things via voice (i.e. already stored STLs)
Nov 4, 2016 at 10:03 AM - danzca6: Robo has that on the R2/C2 printers using Octoprint...must be a plugin
    Nov 4, 2016 at 10:04 AM - danzca6: https://github.com/Robo3D/Alexa-OctoPrint-Skill
    Nov 4, 2016 at 10:12 AM - JoshYourITGuy: Sweet
Nov 4, 2016 at 10:19 AM - danzca6: yep, they have a lot out there now for the new printers that I want to explore more and get working on the R1/R1+ series.
Nov 4, 2016 at 10:19 AM - danzca6: I'm glad to see they are doing open source with this
Nov 4, 2016 at 10:43 AM - JoshYourITGuy: Has anyone confirmed what is behind the R2/C2s? Marlin?
    Nov 4, 2016 at 10:47 AM - danzca6: yes, Marlin 1.1.0
Nov 4, 2016 at 10:48 AM - danzca6: they are doing a lot more of their special features using Pi and Octoprint though
Nov 4, 2016 at 10:49 AM - JoshYourITGuy: Hmm, I wonder if the chassis has room for a Pi underneath, like the ample room of the R1
Nov 4, 2016 at 10:51 AM - danzca6: they have it in there on the R2 and C2 machines
Nov 4, 2016 at 10:52 AM - WheresWaldo: Josh, I think I can get the LCD control to work. But basically you are dedicating an rPi to your Robo.
Nov 4, 2016 at 10:52 AM - danzca6: The controller board is customized. as well...I think I saw a pic somewhere, but not sure where anymore
    Nov 4, 2016 at 10:53 AM - danzca6: Man...watching the CUBS parade and celebration...what a season
Nov 4, 2016 at 10:54 AM - JoshYourITGuy: Ahh, possibly the Titan controller
Nov 4, 2016 at 10:56 AM - danzca6: what is the titan controller
Nov 4, 2016 at 10:56 AM - WheresWaldo: Not really important that the board has a custom layout, it appears to be electrically identical to a RAMPS 1.4 at least the RoboC2 pins file uses the same pins.
    Nov 4, 2016 at 10:58 AM - danzca6: looking in the pins_ROBOC2.h file?
Nov 4, 2016 at 10:59 AM - WheresWaldo: Yep, but I had to compare to RCBugFix and the layout is changed some, so had to jump around. I am pretty sure they are using RC6
Nov 4, 2016 at 10:59 AM - danzca6: I mentioned the controller because it's form factor might be different to help fit both the controller and the pi in the smaller base of the R2/C2
Nov 4, 2016 at 10:59 AM - WheresWaldo: But form factor is unimportant, it is electrical and firmware that counts.
    Nov 4, 2016 at 11:01 AM - danzca6: understood
Nov 4, 2016 at 11:01 AM - danzca6: do they have a filament width sensor on the R2?
Nov 4, 2016 at 11:01 AM - danzca6: I see they have mention of it on the R2 and not the C2 in the code
Nov 4, 2016 at 11:02 AM - WheresWaldo: No mention of Version.h so their build predates this.
Nov 4, 2016 at 11:04 AM - JoshYourITGuy: Titan: http://diy3dprinting.blogspot.com/2014/05/robo-3d-r2-printer-with-titan.html but obviosuly an old page
Nov 4, 2016 at 11:06 AM - JoshYourITGuy: So wait, am I reading this correctly? The app is a frontend of Octoprint? Where is the backend? On the printer?
Nov 4, 2016 at 11:07 AM - WheresWaldo: The R2 is not the one pictured, forget everything you think you know about the R2 that predates Summer 2016.
    Nov 4, 2016 at 11:07 AM - JoshYourITGuy: Agreed
Nov 4, 2016 at 11:07 AM - WheresWaldo: Yes Octoprint is now used to control all functions of the C2/R2 using a dedicated rPi and LCD touchscreen and Octoprint plugins.
Nov 4, 2016 at 11:08 AM - danzca6: WW did you see pins.h is for the C2? Maybe they have a different controller for the C2
Nov 4, 2016 at 11:08 AM - danzca6: odd naming and no good documentation still
    Nov 4, 2016 at 11:12 AM - WheresWaldo: Not RC6 I think they cloned RC2, I am still checking.
Nov 4, 2016 at 11:14 AM - WheresWaldo: I am currently re-pulling down all the Marlin RC's to see which one they forked.
Nov 4, 2016 at 11:19 AM - WheresWaldo: It almost looks like they are cherry picking the fixes. It is not a complete RC7 nor is it just RC2/3
    Nov 4, 2016 at 11:19 AM - danzca6: haha...yikes
Nov 4, 2016 at 11:20 AM - WheresWaldo: I am not going to mess with their Marlin. They are just trying to make it work on their cheap ass clone boards.
Nov 4, 2016 at 11:20 AM - WheresWaldo: The important stuff is what they are doing to OctoPrint, since they gave up direct control of their printers to plugins.
Nov 4, 2016 at 11:21 AM - WheresWaldo: Since Octoprint only works on the g-code level, all their stuff should be portable to any Robo printer.
Nov 4, 2016 at 12:46 PM - Bill Monroe: good afternoon

Nov 4, 2016 at 1:46 PM - WheresWaldo: SO Dan you take the time to design something and all you get if your chosen is nothing? And at the same time you help Robo out? Deal me in!
    Nov 4, 2016 at 1:47 PM - WheresWaldo: you're
    Nov 4, 2016 at 1:48 PM - danzca6: you win a new R2 or C2
    Nov 4, 2016 at 1:48 PM - danzca6: so not nothing
    Nov 4, 2016 at 4:23 PM - daniel871: Who needs an R2 or C2?

Nov 4, 2016 at 5:56 PM - danzca6: Interesting...here is the whole raspbian image for Robo R2/C2 printers. Has the RoboLCD and all the other stuff already added. May have to play with that this weekend. I need to order another pi. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BwRrLPmfRAPyakw3ZVVpZk9acmc

Nov 5, 2016 at 2:11 PM - Jim Zwieg: Noob here. Got my new Robo 3D R1 Plus yesterday. First test print failed miserably. The 9 point leveling process tried all points at the right side of table chaddering at each stop. Support set me up with level 2 support appointment. In mean time, I researched problem in support and youtube. A youtube had a video showing the leveling process. I examined the machine and found the the front horizontal rod was out of its left pocket and jamme
Nov 5, 2016 at 2:14 PM - Jim Zwieg: against the stop switch. The Right Upright guide rode was out of its pocked at the top of the housing. These are assemply errors and not caused by rough handeling during shipping.
Nov 5, 2016 at 4:30 PM - Geof: Its possible. Best thing is to let robo know. We are a user forum so they wont see it here :D

Nov 7, 2016 at 5:49 AM - Bill Monroe: i dunno.. he's not had the evidence of harm to the public as the liar..
Nov 7, 2016 at 5:49 AM - Bill Monroe: I think he's still a crapshoot.. could be bad.. could be good.. all depends..
Nov 7, 2016 at 5:50 AM - JeffTheMess: Thats what he has going for him, he will do either do really bad or really good
Nov 7, 2016 at 5:51 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. I think he'll have to be cool.. he has too much of an ego to allow himself to fail
Nov 7, 2016 at 5:51 AM - Bill Monroe: i wouldnt put it past him to resign and let Pence run with it

Nov 7, 2016 at 5:55 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, Cruz is a dolt
Nov 7, 2016 at 5:56 AM - Bill Monroe: im still suprised the GOP didnt prop up a viable candidate.. although at that time everyone thought the liar was a slam-dunk

    Nov 7, 2016 at 6:09 AM - Bill Monroe: i must have 25 hemostats
    Nov 7, 2016 at 6:09 AM - Bill Monroe: 8 fluke DMMs
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:13 AM - JeffTheMess: now thats too many
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:14 AM - Bill Monroe: ya 6 is enough
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:15 AM - Bill Monroe: but I only have one o-scope so, I can declare myself sane :)
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:15 AM - Lytmup: Hey Guys! I purchased a refurbed R1+ a month or so ago and I am having an issue. After the Autolevel completes and the print starts the left side of the bed is considerably higher than the other. The right side is even too close to the bed almost scraping it. I took my 123 blocks and leveled the X axis to the print bed but I am still having the same results. Any ideas?
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:16 AM - JeffTheMess: is your glass warped
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:16 AM - Bill Monroe: I reworked mine until the bed was tram and turned off the totally useless level compensation (it's NOT autolevel)
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:17 AM - Lytmup: I don't think so. I will refer to level compensation as soon as the Firmware does.
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:18 AM - JeffTheMess: do it the old school way with the paper level
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:19 AM - Bill Monroe: i put fine screw adjusters on my homebrew..
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:19 AM - Bill Monroe: but it has genuine auto adjust
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:19 AM - Lytmup: See I did that too but with a .10 feeler gauge. I got it all dialed in and then when I go to print it does the same thing.
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:20 AM - JeffTheMess: did you take out the the code to autolevel aswell
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:20 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. if you get it level, turn off the auto
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:20 AM - Lytmup: I will. It really isn't necessary I guess. Just used to seeing all of my other Robo's go through the Auto and print fine.
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:21 AM - Lytmup: I guess this one will be the stepchild! Lol!
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:21 AM - JeffTheMess: Yeah the robo autolevel isn't up to par
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:21 AM - JeffTheMess: congrats on the robo (sarcasm)
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:22 AM - Bill Monroe: using autolevelis showing theworld your machine is crooked
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:22 AM - Bill Monroe: one cardinal rule in automation.. never, ever use software to fix a hardware problem
    Nov 7, 2016 at 6:23 AM - JeffTheMess: ^
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:27 AM - Lytmup: That was it! Thanks guys!
    Nov 7, 2016 at 6:27 AM - Bill Monroe: <hi5>
    Nov 7, 2016 at 6:27 AM - JeffTheMess: boom
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:42 AM - Lytmup: And also the magnet mounts on the y axis were not seated all of the way in either......that helped too.
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:49 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah that is good
Nov 7, 2016 at 6:57 AM - daniel871: Ah, a trip down memory lane with an old game ad. [IMG]

Nov 7, 2016 at 7:10 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, did you see this: https://robo3d.com/robobeta/
Nov 7, 2016 at 7:11 AM - daniel871: No, but I saw this, it's pretty neat even if the background music sucks.
    Nov 7, 2016 at 7:12 AM - daniel871: Also, I have no interest in bug-testing for free.
Nov 7, 2016 at 7:14 AM - WheresWaldo: Didn't you download the image for your rPi already?
    Nov 7, 2016 at 7:15 AM - daniel871: Yeah, but I have no interest in bug-testing for Robo's frontend.
Nov 7, 2016 at 7:15 AM - WheresWaldo: I am just trying to break down what they added to Octoprint so I can write it up myself, but my rPi is busy printing useful stuff and I don't have a second one.
Nov 7, 2016 at 7:16 AM - daniel871: Also the shop I have everything set up basically functions as a dead zone when the bay doors are shut so there is no Wifi signal going through the building.
Nov 7, 2016 at 7:16 AM - WheresWaldo: iOS only so that sucks, but I wasn't going to sign up anyway.
Nov 7, 2016 at 7:17 AM - daniel871: So I have Octopi as an option, but in practical usage that just means I get timelapses after prints are done
Nov 7, 2016 at 7:17 AM - WheresWaldo: Most of the Octoprint stuff they forked from other people.
Nov 7, 2016 at 7:18 AM - WheresWaldo: only a plugin for the theme and the touchUI was created by Robo. I can't get either to work standalone yet, I am missing some dependencies.
Nov 7, 2016 at 7:18 AM - WheresWaldo: Plus they don't work on the devel branch of OctoPrint
Nov 7, 2016 at 7:19 AM - daniel871: I think I'm going to have to break down and set up an insulated box for my Monoprice i3 to run in. Printed something overnight Saturday and apparently there was such a hard temperature shift at some point overnight that the PLA object I was printing contracted and broke halfway up (the printer was still running just fine, but the object cracked into pieces well below the current print height).
Nov 7, 2016 at 7:20 AM - WheresWaldo: Winter is coming.
Nov 7, 2016 at 7:20 AM - daniel871: Not enough to destroy the print, but like spiderweb cracks you'd see on a piece of glass if you threw ice-cold water on it after it had been heated.
Nov 7, 2016 at 7:22 AM - WheresWaldo: I whipped up a stupid cable holder designed stolen inspired by all those round semi-circular cable holders. Easy to print and I might submit it for the design contest.
Nov 7, 2016 at 7:51 AM - JeffTheMess: your wanting another robo
    Nov 7, 2016 at 7:53 AM - WheresWaldo: Sure if it's free
Nov 7, 2016 at 7:53 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah that is true
Nov 7, 2016 at 7:55 AM - WheresWaldo: I have been looking at the Robo Github and they combined a few nice things in order to make the C2/R2 work. Dan was going to play with it too. My purpose is to see how easy it is to get to work on the R1.
Nov 7, 2016 at 7:55 AM - JeffTheMess: sounds good
Nov 7, 2016 at 7:56 AM - WheresWaldo: I don't care about the iOS app but the OctoPrint stuff seems nice.
Nov 7, 2016 at 7:57 AM - JeffTheMess: unless you can somehow take a print off the plate automatically, an ios app is worthless
Nov 7, 2016 at 7:57 AM - WheresWaldo: Let me fix the last part of your statement for you "iOS is worthless"
Nov 7, 2016 at 7:59 AM - JeffTheMess: let me further "correct" it, 3d printer ios apps are worthless :)
    Nov 7, 2016 at 8:18 AM - danzca6: Anyone need a 27" monitor? I have this one and like it. It's only $119 right now https://amzn.com/B00CMKOVPQ
Nov 7, 2016 at 9:06 AM - daniel871: Having an IOS app for it is pointless anyway since Octopi runs natively in a browser.
Nov 7, 2016 at 10:43 AM - WheresWaldo: Having an iOS or Android app is just a marketing checkbox. It makes people feel like they are getting something more than they could with another printer. It has no bearing at all on any practical value. People are sheep and need to be told what they want and what is important.

Nov 7, 2016 at 12:23 PM - danzca6: That's even better than the $280 deal you found on MP site the other week. So tempting...if it is that way still on Thursday (payday) I may have to go for it
Nov 7, 2016 at 12:37 PM - WheresWaldo: I would even consider it if I wasn't building a custom waterloop for my PC. I also need a new GPU that has enough performance for 2160p@60hz gaming.
    Nov 7, 2016 at 12:43 PM - danzca6: A good deal on a printrbot play http://www.makergeeks.com/prpl3dpr4kgo.html
Nov 7, 2016 at 12:43 PM - danzca6: Not as good as the mp select though
Nov 7, 2016 at 12:45 PM - WheresWaldo: As much as I like the Play, it is nowhere near the Monospace as far as build size.
Nov 7, 2016 at 12:47 PM - WheresWaldo: I need to picjk up an rPi3 and LCD so I can play with it instead of ripping apart a system that is working.
Nov 7, 2016 at 12:47 PM - danzca6: agreed...I am torn on what size LCD
    Nov 7, 2016 at 12:47 PM - danzca6: 3.5 seems too small
Nov 7, 2016 at 12:52 PM - WheresWaldo: There is a 4" both of them are header connected not HDMI. I might do the 4" HDMI it's IPS not TFT

Nov 7, 2016 at 12:57 PM - WheresWaldo: Should clarify both 4" are IPS, the rest of the header connected screens are TFT
    Nov 7, 2016 at 12:59 PM - danzca6: R2 is 5" and C2 is 3.5"
Nov 7, 2016 at 1:04 PM - WheresWaldo: The 5" must be HDMI

    Nov 7, 2016 at 1:14 PM - danzca6: I like the 4"
    Nov 7, 2016 at 1:15 PM - WheresWaldo: Yes
Nov 7, 2016 at 1:15 PM - WheresWaldo: I just can't find the 4" IPS cheap. Might go for the 5" although space becomes an issue then.
Nov 7, 2016 at 1:17 PM - danzca6: $41 if you can wait until December for delivery
