    Oct 17, 2016 at 9:03 AM - danzca6: Slow monday
Oct 17, 2016 at 9:52 AM - danzca6: Geof you ok over there? I hear you coughing. You may need to go home early today :)
    Oct 17, 2016 at 9:56 AM - Geof: I do feel quite a bug coming on ;)
Oct 17, 2016 at 9:57 AM - Geof: Should be built pretty quick and printing tonight i hope :)
Oct 17, 2016 at 9:57 AM - danzca6: I think a bag of gummies should cure that cough
Oct 17, 2016 at 9:58 AM - danzca6: just remember to read the instructions or you will be publicly shamed ... haha
Oct 17, 2016 at 9:59 AM - Geof: Lol woth how late ot was theyr prolly no good haha ! Public shaming is ok with me. Reading is hard
    Oct 17, 2016 at 10:03 AM - danzca6: don't worry..there are pictures ;)
Oct 17, 2016 at 10:03 AM - danzca6: my favorite kind of reading
Oct 17, 2016 at 10:09 AM - Geof: Lol good deal
    Oct 17, 2016 at 12:09 PM - Geof: T- 1 hour to build commence !
Oct 17, 2016 at 12:13 PM - jim3Dbot: Hey Geof......man, I was confused last night........thought we were talkin' about MKA PCB Heatbed....I forgot you were purchasing the MK2 Printer...Congrats Dude....
    Oct 17, 2016 at 12:13 PM - jim3Dbot: MK2A
Oct 17, 2016 at 12:22 PM - danzca6: T-1, you are going home early then
    Oct 17, 2016 at 12:22 PM - danzca6: I'll be chopping wood in T-1 :(
Oct 17, 2016 at 2:03 PM - Geof: Hi Jim yessir working on it now. Hi danz....dont chop wood...print in woodfill. Much better lol
Oct 17, 2016 at 2:04 PM - daniel871: Get one of those 24 ton gas powered log splitters
Oct 17, 2016 at 2:04 PM - daniel871: Let it do the really hard work while you and a buddy keep it fed and stack the pieces.
Oct 17, 2016 at 4:17 PM - Geof: Good call daniel
Oct 17, 2016 at 4:17 PM - Geof: Get 2 friends so you can drink beer and "supervise"
Oct 17, 2016 at 5:02 PM - Toro1966: You done putting that machine together yet Geof?! :)
    Oct 17, 2016 at 5:07 PM - danzca6: cough...how is that MP going Toro? ;)
    Oct 17, 2016 at 5:11 PM - Toro1966: Ironically, I just unboxed it and it's broke!!! &^%$!
Oct 17, 2016 at 5:13 PM - Toro1966: Trying to see if I can fix it now. One of the frame hex bolts (looks like 3 mm) fell on the floor when I opened it. Top is sheared off. They have a zip tie that ties that part of the x axis to the corssmember. looks like they may have tightened it too much. Sucks!
Oct 17, 2016 at 5:13 PM - Toro1966: If I can get the rest of the bolt out, I'll replace it. But there is no head because that sheared off, and it is only long enough to NOT go through the other side with any to spare...
Oct 17, 2016 at 5:16 PM - Geof: Hey guys still working on.
    Oct 17, 2016 at 5:17 PM - Geof: Y done, x done. Drink break ;) beer is a neccessity
Oct 17, 2016 at 5:18 PM - Geof: Toro sorry to hear buddy. Use a oring pic (straight) if there is a hole all tge way through and try to spin the bolt out backwards
Oct 17, 2016 at 5:18 PM - Geof: All the way***
Oct 17, 2016 at 5:23 PM - kevin wilson: evenin
Oct 17, 2016 at 5:49 PM - Toro1966: Was able to get it out and made a screw work for the time being. FInishing assembly.
Oct 17, 2016 at 5:57 PM - daniel871: Fuck that, Toro. Take pics and file an RMA, they'll replace at no cost to you.
Oct 17, 2016 at 5:58 PM - daniel871: Remember, Monoprice is a big store that will do real Warranty work.
    Oct 17, 2016 at 5:59 PM - daniel871: Don't start with a fucked machine.
Oct 17, 2016 at 6:06 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Daniel - I figured since I bought it from Amazon I would at least put it together. I have 30 days for a return/exchange
Oct 17, 2016 at 6:06 PM - Toro1966: A couple of questions Daniel - 1. What the hell is this thing that looks like a metal rod with a hooked end?
Oct 17, 2016 at 6:07 PM - Toro1966: 2 - How close together should the plates be before you level. I have cranked down on the knurled knobs and they are plenty tight, but there is still about 1/4 inche between the two plates (with the spring in between)
Oct 17, 2016 at 6:08 PM - Toro1966: I am going to try the filament color change with the lcd tonight. Do I just go to change filament when I get to the point I want to change the color?
Oct 17, 2016 at 6:08 PM - Toro1966: On the RObo for that last question
Oct 17, 2016 at 6:17 PM - Geof: Yes, be ready with the next color. The motors only stay locked for so long.
Oct 17, 2016 at 6:25 PM - Toro1966: Then I just push the change filament again and it restarts where it should - correct?
Oct 17, 2016 at 6:30 PM - danzca6: Should pause and you click resume
Oct 17, 2016 at 6:32 PM - Toro1966: Excellent. First impressions on Monoprice. All assembled.
Oct 17, 2016 at 6:33 PM - Toro1966: Other than the fact it was broke. Build quality is pretty good. Certainly more than you would probably expect for $300. Small details are where it differs. Hate the separate power and lcd box already.
Oct 17, 2016 at 6:33 PM - Toro1966: It also has screws on the bottom so you'll have to put it on something or it will leikly scratch up yoru table
Oct 17, 2016 at 6:33 PM - Toro1966: Test print was left on the bed. It's a butterfly and looks pretty good.
Oct 17, 2016 at 6:35 PM - Toro1966: Probably won't get to print until tomorrow just due to time. 4 am comes quyickly...
Oct 17, 2016 at 6:35 PM - danzca6: Doesn't it have padded feet to install?
Oct 17, 2016 at 6:39 PM - Toro1966: The box - definitely not. The print - pretty sure no - I say pretty sure because it came with these rubber things that look more like clips than feet. I was going to ask daniel when he was on.
    Oct 17, 2016 at 6:51 PM - Toro1966: Pics coming

Oct 17, 2016 at 6:54 PM - Toro1966: I will say manual and instruction sheet is well written and in color. Packaging was very good.
Oct 17, 2016 at 6:54 PM - danzca6: Nice... Any gcode on the SD card that you can print
Oct 17, 2016 at 6:54 PM - Toro1966: They say there is, but the funny thing is that it is a sealed brand new never been open in the cardboard sd card. Lol. So I supposed they could have ordered them that way but....
Oct 17, 2016 at 6:54 PM - Toro1966: I am going to check it out in a minute
Oct 17, 2016 at 6:56 PM - Toro1966: Yup - turns out the front of the SD card package is a lift up plastic and it does have g code on it.
Oct 17, 2016 at 6:59 PM - danzca6: Well print one and see if anything else is wrong... Did you do a paper level of the bed
Oct 17, 2016 at 7:01 PM - Toro1966: Nope - I'll hit that tomorrow. I do notice that all of their test files use a raft. It comes with what looks like build tac for the bed (but not name brand that I can see_
Oct 17, 2016 at 7:01 PM - Toro1966: Take a look at my first change filament using the lcd
    Oct 17, 2016 at 7:02 PM - Toro1966: [IMG]
    Oct 17, 2016 at 7:03 PM - danzca6: Awesome
Oct 17, 2016 at 7:04 PM - danzca6: That is something that needs to be included in the 1.1.0 version. I think it's disabled
Oct 17, 2016 at 7:04 PM - danzca6: I can do a pause, but change is not there. I see it commented out
    Oct 17, 2016 at 7:05 PM - Toro1966: Doh - I am just starting to like it!
Oct 17, 2016 at 7:05 PM - Toro1966: Though I have done it manually before by using the jog commands in S3D machine control
Oct 17, 2016 at 7:06 PM - Toro1966: How do we ask for them to put it in the next version? Would love for that to be in the one Waldo has working that I was planning on installing this weekend...
Oct 17, 2016 at 7:06 PM - danzca6: You can just uncomment and go before you update the firmware
    Oct 17, 2016 at 7:06 PM - danzca6: I'll post that in the thread
Oct 17, 2016 at 7:07 PM - danzca6: There is a script command you can add in s3d to pause at given layer(s)
Oct 17, 2016 at 7:09 PM - Toro1966: Will it work though if I uncomment it? Or is it commented because there is a compatibility issue?
    Oct 17, 2016 at 7:09 PM - danzca6: I'll try it for you
    Oct 17, 2016 at 7:12 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Brother!

Oct 18, 2016 at 5:41 AM - Geof: Danz i packed it up early last night, all thats left is rewiring the x axis (wiring in the way) and hooking up the board :) should be in production tonight
Oct 18, 2016 at 5:50 AM - danzca6: I was wondering if the beer break was the towel being thrown in for the night...that's a lot to get done in one night
Oct 18, 2016 at 6:27 AM - daniel871: That's why, if I bought the MK2, I'd just get the fully assembled one because the time I'd spend putting it together would cost more than the price difference of letting them do it (also if anything was broken during shipment I could get them to send replacement parts).
Oct 18, 2016 at 6:28 AM - daniel871: Right now I'm waiting on the Monoprice exchange and saving table space for that delta before I buy any more printers though.
Oct 18, 2016 at 6:29 AM - danzca6: Well, I don't get paid for my time at home and a few hours to assemble to save $200 is well worth it for me
Oct 18, 2016 at 6:30 AM - danzca6: do you have a ship date for the delta?
Oct 18, 2016 at 6:33 AM - daniel871: I don't get paid for my time at home either, but at the same time I could be doing other stuff that either makes money or that I enjoy a lot more than assembling a pile of parts.
Oct 18, 2016 at 6:35 AM - daniel871: Parts delay on the rods for the carriage means they should be getting final delivery some time this week of all of the parts.
Oct 18, 2016 at 6:37 AM - danzca6: awesome...so sometime before christmas? Can't wait to see it in action. Hopefully as good as they advertised.
Oct 18, 2016 at 6:41 AM - daniel871: They reworked the website if you want to check that out.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 6:42 AM - daniel871: https://emergin.net/
Oct 18, 2016 at 6:44 AM - daniel871: "Delta style for fast print and cool looking" (sic)
Oct 18, 2016 at 6:44 AM - danzca6: it is pretty slick being all aluminum
Oct 18, 2016 at 6:45 AM - daniel871: Molex connector for the hotend connection to allow rapid disassembly for whatever.
Oct 18, 2016 at 6:45 AM - danzca6: man, just ordered some stuff from Amazon...be here tomorrow...their shipping keeps getting faster
Oct 18, 2016 at 6:46 AM - daniel871: I'm not too crazy about their generic cold end, but I will have a Bondtech on standby to install if it's too much of a pain.
Oct 18, 2016 at 6:47 AM - danzca6: that would be a nice upgrade regardless
Oct 18, 2016 at 6:49 AM - danzca6: I wish they wouldn['t say 500 micron layer height when all they have is a .5mm nozzle. Realistically it would be a max of 400 micron
    Oct 18, 2016 at 6:50 AM - danzca6: for quality that is
    Oct 18, 2016 at 6:51 AM - Toro1966: Morning Dans
    Oct 18, 2016 at 6:52 AM - danzca6: Morning Toro
Oct 18, 2016 at 6:57 AM - Geof: on the shipping- if you order the kit you get out of the import charges :D. Plus I like putting it togather, I have plenty of other machines to make replacement parts and run my customer work :D
Oct 18, 2016 at 6:57 AM - danzca6: Toro, I'm still looking into why the full graphics controller doesn't have the filament change in 1.1.0. I can't see why it can't be put in.
Oct 18, 2016 at 6:58 AM - Geof: HI toro. Hope they get you sorted on the replacement parts.
Oct 18, 2016 at 6:58 AM - danzca6: So what will the first print be Geof
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:00 AM - Geof: deprime probably lol
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:03 AM - Toro1966: Thanks Danz I appreciate it. Morning Geof. Think I am going to try out that new printer tonight or tomorrow. Probably going to get it exchanged anyway - just to make sure I don't start with a damaged one.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:04 AM - Toro1966: I actually fixed it and got the bolt out and put in a new screw. So it is together and ready to go. Still have to level the bed, but other than that, she should be good to go.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:06 AM - daniel871: If you're comfortable with the fix you did then maybe it'll be fine to go ahead. You've got a full year to play with it before the warranty is dead so put a countdown in your calendar or something.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:07 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: that delta looks like a pretty sweet printer for the price
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:08 AM - daniel871: The prices are still about the same as they were during the kickstarter, too.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:08 AM - daniel871: I'm more interested in the frame itself than the electronics, but still.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:09 AM - Toro1966: Hi Daniel - I plan on printing with it for at least the next couple of weeks. Since I can return it at anytime within 30 days for Amazon I am good to go.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:09 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: right it just looks cool and i guess it looks cool printing too lol
    Oct 18, 2016 at 7:10 AM - daniel871: I like this update on the kickstarter. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/873464596/trium-delta-3d-printer/posts/1709101
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:11 AM - daniel871: "Our supplier for the magnets messed us up, so unplanned upgrade/material change for the effector arms changing from carbon-fiber to aluminum tubes".
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:12 AM - daniel871: Seems like a good chance for a lot of bent arms if shipping/packaging isn't done right, but I think the same problems would happen to carbon-fiber arms in a shipping mishap, maybe.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:14 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: i just dont know about the delta style of printing
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:14 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: used to the Robo now
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:16 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning all.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:16 AM - daniel871: Toro, here is a video on bed leveling for the Australian distributor of the printer we're talking about:
    Oct 18, 2016 at 7:21 AM - daniel871: Morning Waldo.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 7:21 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:22 AM - daniel871: Toro - And here is the page on the Wiki for the printer that talks about bed leveling and the community-recommended mods for it to make it easier. http://3dprinterwiki.info/wiki/wanhao-duplicator-i3/duplicator-i3-calibration/bed-leveling/
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:24 AM - Geof: Good Morning waldo and Toro and daniel. Sorry work is a bit crazy so in and out
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:25 AM - Toro1966: Thanks Daniel. No worries Geof.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:26 AM - Toro1966: The leveling looks very straightforward.. Move either the rods or the thumbscrews as required to get all four corners paper leveled - correct?
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:27 AM - WheresWaldo: Ultimaker is going to make a new announcement in 8 minutes.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 7:27 AM - WheresWaldo: https://ultimaker.com/
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:28 AM - Toro1966: Hey Daniel - on one side near one of the z axis stepper motors is something that looks like a small "u" clamp mount for something. Does yours have that? Also - what the heck is that long thin rod with a curved end?
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:30 AM - daniel871: I'm going to need a photo, because mine is an older version than whatever they ship now.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:31 AM - Toro1966: Let me see if I can find one. You didn't get the little rod?
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:31 AM - Toro1966: There is no mention of it in the assembly instructions.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:31 AM - daniel871: Also, I fucking hate countdowns like that for videos. It's basically a "hey, in 4 minutes and so many seconds our website is going to crash due to unexpected traffic".
    Oct 18, 2016 at 7:32 AM - WheresWaldo: :D
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:32 AM - daniel871: All I got with mine was an allen wrench for the screws and the spool holder pieces that can be mounted on either the control box or the top of the X/Z axis frame.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:33 AM - daniel871: Also, some sheets of masking tape. My version pre-dates the inclusion of knock-off buildtak
    Oct 18, 2016 at 7:35 AM - Toro1966: https://flic.kr/p/Nj57fB
    Oct 18, 2016 at 7:35 AM - Toro1966: https://flic.kr/p/MmeQkV
    Oct 18, 2016 at 7:35 AM - Toro1966: There you go Daniel
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:36 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan the Ultimaker site crashed, were you responsible?
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:36 AM - Toro1966: Also - how do you level the center. I got the four corners, no problem - but when you get to the center, how do you level that?
    Oct 18, 2016 at 7:36 AM - danzca6: haha..and ultimaker page crashed
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:36 AM - daniel871: OK, the plastic bracket on the Z-axis is where you hook the cable chains in after assembly the X/Z frame.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:37 AM - Toro1966: What do you hook them in with? Got apicture?
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:37 AM - daniel871: So you should have one chain for the X-axis range of motion that transitions for the X-axis range of motion.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:38 AM - daniel871: Also, I told you so about the Ultimaker page.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:38 AM - daniel871: I have no clue what the round hook is for.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 7:38 AM - danzca6: funny I refresh...video...refresh...crash
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:39 AM - danzca6: I guess I'll check back with them in an hour
    Oct 18, 2016 at 7:39 AM - Toro1966: https://flic.kr/p/N8NNYE
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:40 AM - Toro1966: Are you saying the chain that is not connected in the picture should be connected to that plastic clip?
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:40 AM - daniel871: Hang on and I'll get a pick of how the back of the printer should look.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 7:40 AM - daniel871: Also yes.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:40 AM - daniel871: Pull the clip mounted to the motor around so the eyes are out in the open, then hook the end of the dangling chain to it.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:41 AM - daniel871: The chain links should be flexible enough to snap into place.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:43 AM - Toro1966: So it just snaps in? That would make sense,
    Oct 18, 2016 at 7:43 AM - daniel871: Yes.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 7:43 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:44 AM - Toro1966: Thanks Daniel. I just din't see any tabs or knobs or anything on the chain that would fit in thecli. But I'll double check when i get home.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:44 AM - danzca6: Ultimakers Tweet makes me laugh
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:45 AM - danzca6: "Having a countdown for you all to sync your refresh to might not have been the best idea"
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:46 AM - daniel871: You can kind of barely see the rounded knobs on the chain link in the cropped image I posted Toro.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:46 AM - daniel871: Also yes. It's better to just post an announcement instead of a countdown to an announcement.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 7:47 AM - Toro1966: Ahhh - got them. Thanks!
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:47 AM - Toro1966: How do you level the center of the bed?
    Oct 18, 2016 at 7:48 AM - danzca6:
    Oct 18, 2016 at 7:49 AM - danzca6: Um3
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:51 AM - daniel871: If the bed isn't flat, you're basically screwed unless you want to put thermal pads and a sheet of glass on top of the metal PCB, then move the Z-axis homing switch up one notch on the side of the machine.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:52 AM - danzca6: the hotend change is pretty slick
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:52 AM - daniel871: Also, leveling takes a good little while if you're doing it wrong.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:53 AM - daniel871: Do opposing diagonal corners instead of going clockwise/counter-clockwise. Like adjusting lugs on a tire.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 7:55 AM - danzca6: and a built in camera
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:56 AM - danzca6: the nozzle retraction is clever
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:57 AM - danzca6: everything else looks pretty much the same
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:57 AM - WheresWaldo: Danz there is a different video on their Facebook page here https://www.facebook.com/Ultimaker/
    Oct 18, 2016 at 7:58 AM - danzca6: thanks
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:00 AM - WheresWaldo: Just a short fluff piece, no details.
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:00 AM - danzca6: yeah the other video I found has a lot more
    Oct 18, 2016 at 8:01 AM - danzca6: pretty nice machine

Oct 18, 2016 at 8:01 AM - Toro1966: Thanks Daniel. Will do. I'll let you know how it works out.
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:01 AM - danzca6: still waiting to see the price tag
    Oct 18, 2016 at 8:01 AM - danzca6: nothing I can afford anyway
    Oct 18, 2016 at 8:04 AM - Toro1966: Ain't that the truth Danz
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:04 AM - Toro1966: I am broek after the new PC and this other printer
    Oct 18, 2016 at 8:04 AM - Toro1966: Lol
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:04 AM - danzca6: welll your PC and printer is still less than what the UM3 will cost I bet
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:05 AM - Toro1966: Wife got pissed at me for buying the printer - not because I bought it - but because I have a brithday coming up in a couple of weeks and since it was in my wish list on Amazon, she had already bought it, and had to cancel her order.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 8:05 AM - danzca6: why
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:05 AM - danzca6: didn't you tell her that more printers the better
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:06 AM - Toro1966: I bet that is true. I like the ultimaker, I just think the way that technology is progressing, these guys need to start bringing that price point down consummate with the technoogy increase, just like everything else. That's why I am not a fan of the R2.
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:06 AM - Toro1966: Of course I did Danz. And told her she could get me the MK2 instead :)
    Oct 18, 2016 at 8:06 AM - danzca6: there you go
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:07 AM - danzca6: tell her she can blame us for dangling the carrot
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:07 AM - WheresWaldo: Toro agree totally on the pricing, all these companies are betting on mainstreaming and the consumer market, can't do that with only premium price models that have very little name recognition outside of their niche
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:08 AM - WheresWaldo: Now if Ultimaker had a big HP logo on it it might be a different story.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 8:10 AM - danzca6: $3495 starting price
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:10 AM - danzca6: Martha I think this is the big one
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:11 AM - Toro1966: Doh. You know how many other printers we can get for that :)
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:12 AM - Toro1966: I looked at the N2+, but shipping was no kidding like $400. In addition to the high price.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 8:12 AM - danzca6: about 6 MK2
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:12 AM - Toro1966: Exactly. You could have a whole farm!
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:13 AM - danzca6: If you can get it to actually load https://ultimaker.com/en/products/ultimaker-3
    Oct 18, 2016 at 8:13 AM - danzca6: yeah that's crazy
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:15 AM - Toro1966: Still want the MK2. My guess is I'll breakdown by Christmas. If it hadn't been for the new PC, I would have bought one. Unfortunately, that was two MK2s right there!
    Oct 18, 2016 at 8:15 AM - danzca6: https://3dprint.com/152758/ultimaker-3-3d-printer-unveiled/
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:15 AM - Toro1966: If they put it back on Amazon I'll get it!
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:16 AM - danzca6: agreed...I have pleny of amazon gift cards ready and will cut the cost to me by half
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:16 AM - daniel871: Matterhackers wasted no time at all. http://www.matterhackers.com/store/printer-kits/Ultimaker-3-d-printer
    Oct 18, 2016 at 8:17 AM - WheresWaldo: $3500 no thanks
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:17 AM - WheresWaldo: Matterhackers says $3600 is list but the PR has $3500 hate when resllers do this.
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:18 AM - daniel871: Open source, but hot-swapping hotends leans towards closed source.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 8:20 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
    Oct 18, 2016 at 8:20 AM - Toro1966: It's 3599. If you're my wife that is 3500
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:21 AM - Toro1966: That says proprietary all over it.
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:21 AM - daniel871: Going by the shop on Matterhackers, they're charging $200 for one of those cores, as well.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 8:22 AM - daniel871: Also, 3mm filament diameter?
    Oct 18, 2016 at 8:22 AM - daniel871: Really?
    Oct 18, 2016 at 8:24 AM - danzca6: They've always been 3mm
    Oct 18, 2016 at 8:24 AM - danzca6: that's just how the dutch roll I guess
    Oct 18, 2016 at 8:24 AM - daniel871: Also chipped spools.
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:25 AM - danzca6: filament management seems to be on the rise lately
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:25 AM - daniel871: I dgaf if it's not an attempt to close-source the filament (yet), those systems have always been buggy as fuck.
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:35 AM - WheresWaldo: Well if I need 36 Bengamins to buy it it doesn't matter how much change I get back, it's $3600 Still the PR says $3495 list Matterhackers is charging list not $100 off like they advertise, very deceptive.
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:36 AM - WheresWaldo: Benjamin's I know how to spell just too lazy to edit.
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:40 AM - danzca6: I must admit, that at $3600 it makes the $1200 for the R2 sound much better
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:41 AM - Toro1966: The sad thing is that these guys make it sound plug and play and it is most definitely not going to be.
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:42 AM - danzca6: daniel looks like you can still use unchiped rolls of filament
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:44 AM - WheresWaldo: It's only $3500 no matter what Matterhackers says list is, is that better?
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:45 AM - WheresWaldo: Bigger build area than the R2 already set up for dual extrusion, easily swapable heaters, probably less electronics in their workflow since they are not using a rPi
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:46 AM - WheresWaldo: Legendary and well known Ultimaker print quality, How does the R2 stack up ????? We won't know until they actually have one and send it to an independent reviewer, which I just don't see them doing.
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:47 AM - danzca6: ok ok ok...I'm just saying price wise....agree with your points
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:47 AM - WheresWaldo: Swapable extruders (hotends) not heaters.
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:47 AM - danzca6: but do they have the cool phone app? haha...#pokethebear
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:48 AM - WheresWaldo: If we were to compare just the tech, the UM3 makes the R2 look like it's from 2015
    Oct 18, 2016 at 8:48 AM - WheresWaldo: 2014 even
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:49 AM - WheresWaldo: When did they first announce the R2?
    Oct 18, 2016 at 8:49 AM - danzca6: 2014
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:52 AM - Toro1966: You guys crack me up.
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:52 AM - WheresWaldo: That is how I see the R2, a 2014 design that just took them too long to release, that just one reason I feel it should have debuted at no more than $999
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:56 AM - WheresWaldo: Even though the US market isn't the only one in the world, even though we want to think it is, Robo has more name recognition than Ultimaker with non 3D Printer users. Especially with their affiliation with BestBuy/MicroCenter as well as Amazon.
Oct 18, 2016 at 8:58 AM - Toro1966: Agree Waldo - that's why I am not in either. To be honest - I plan on getting another RObo - but I will wait until a new one - not refurn is 399 or 499.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 8:58 AM - Toro1966: R1+ that is.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:00 AM - WheresWaldo: With all the supposed innovation in the 3D printer field, I sure am not seeing it from the mainstream players. At least UM is making a few things easier, even if they just took tech others have used previously. The just stuck it all in one printer.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:01 AM - WheresWaldo: Once I get my Aluminum plate done for the R1 I think with the changes that Marlin is making and the dev's reverse engineering Prusa's code changes. We are probably as good as any other higher priced printer based on the same tech.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:03 AM - WheresWaldo: Can't see a need for the incremental changes in the UM3 or the extra electronics in the R2 to justify either price structure.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:05 AM - Toro1966: Exactly. I like my RObo. it has definitley helped me learn and with a few mods prints great. Even the stock hotend was just fine.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:08 AM - daniel871: The only thing way to justify the price structures either company use is to utterly ignore the competition.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:11 AM - daniel871: Hey Toro, I have an idea, do some print comparisons between the i3 and the Robo with the same layer/infill/etc. settings on the same objects and see which one does a better job. :p
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:12 AM - daniel871: All I ever learned from the Robos I fought with was how not to design a printer if you wanted any longevity at the published printing speeds.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:13 AM - daniel871: Mostly centering around that shitty glass bed and pathetic acrylic/plastic frame.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 9:14 AM - Toro1966: Will do Daniel. I'll try it.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:14 AM - Toro1966: I'll actually use the same sliced gcode
    Oct 18, 2016 at 9:14 AM - Toro1966: With S3D
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:15 AM - Toro1966: I actually don't have a problem with the bed or the frame. Only issue from those is the fact that it is slightly warped - whcih makes it a bit of a PITA sometimes to level. Hoepfully mesh will fix that.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:15 AM - Toro1966: Mine might not be a completely fair comparison because I have an E3Dv6 installed on my Robo.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:15 AM - Toro1966: - is there a piece of PTFE inside the Monoprice extruder? I ask because they sent me what i assume is a spare in the baggy,.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:17 AM - danzca6: daniel, did your MP come with padded feet of some type?
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:21 AM - Toro1966: Yeah - thanks Danz - good question. Mine only came with these thin little clip like things made of rubber. I ahve no idea what they are for. There were 6 of them. I took four and put around the y frame. That leaves two. Again - I have no ideea if these things actually go there, bt we'll see. Glad I was able to fix the frame myself because Amazon is out of them now.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:23 AM - Geof: Meh a comparison between printers is a joke. At least in my opinion. Id imagine waldo, danzca, ktm, mark and i all have machines that sre vastly different with different print quality based on needs or wants. Id put my robo against most any 1500 and under printer as far as general print quality. Can it compete with the sigma? Hell no lol but i wouldnt expect it to. :D
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:26 AM - Toro1966: I think it would be interesting to see how the Robo stacks up tot he I3 though. After all - even now Robo is 599 at least and then the E3Dv6 is another 80 bucks. The I3 was $340 shipped.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:26 AM - Toro1966: Danz - does that Robo coupn code still work for $200 off?
    Oct 18, 2016 at 9:27 AM - danzca6: I don't think so
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:28 AM - daniel871: The hotend on the i3 has the PTFE liner in it, yes. It's good for printing anything sub-240C though as long as you keep your retraction less than 3mm.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:28 AM - daniel871: I put the all-metal hotend on mine so I could print PETG, but all you really gain there is a no-more-maintenance for swapping the PTFE out on the stock version.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:29 AM - daniel871: The only thing I'd be careful of using the exact same sliced G-code is that the i3 doesn't use any G29 or Z-offset codes.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:30 AM - danzca6: good point, he can trim that out of the file though
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:30 AM - daniel871: What I mean is you do your Robo slice, then change machine profiles over to the Wanhao i3 profile, then reslice.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:30 AM - Toro1966: So if the stock hotend is good to 240 why would you have to swap out for PETG? That prints at about 230
    Oct 18, 2016 at 9:30 AM - daniel871: More retraction without clogging.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:30 AM - Toro1966: Also - did yours come with rubber feet?
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:31 AM - daniel871: No. The newer ones did. If you got six then they should go at the four corners as well as at the bottom of the vertical frame pieces.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:31 AM - danzca6: nothing for the control box?
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:31 AM - daniel871: Control box had little flat button things on them.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 9:31 AM - daniel871: On the bottom.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:32 AM - daniel871: Basically the little rubber glue-on things you can get at any craft store.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:32 AM - danzca6: I can see why folks are looking or the PLUS to have it all contained
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:33 AM - daniel871: The drawback on the Plus is that if you build an enclosure for it you now have to worry about the control board overheating on the Plus vs. having it outside the enclosure.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 9:33 AM - danzca6: that's true
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:34 AM - daniel871: One of the more popular mods is to get one of those knock-off ebay server racks around 9U or 12U, putting the main assembly inside and having the control box mounted onto the outside.

Oct 18, 2016 at 9:35 AM - Toro1966: The problem is the vertical frame pieces are L shaped - so technically I would need 8.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:35 AM - Toro1966: and nothing is on the control box.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:36 AM - daniel871: I'm still counting only 6 places to attach rubber feet.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 9:36 AM - daniel871: 2 verticals, 4 corners.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:37 AM - Toro1966: The verticals are L brackets. If you put them only under the front's for example, they aren't on the outside vertical and are nto as stable.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 9:37 AM - Toro1966: L = 2 a piece
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:37 AM - Toro1966: one for each leg of the L
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:37 AM - daniel871: As long as they're attached to the sheet metal piece then they're stable.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:38 AM - Toro1966: Not so much. Tried it last night.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:38 AM - daniel871: Or you could print as many of these as you like and put them everywhere. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1370173
    Oct 18, 2016 at 9:38 AM - Toro1966: Those might work
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:39 AM - daniel871: You'll also see a lot of the more popular add-ons people have made in those photos.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:39 AM - daniel871: Notice how he has them only on the outermost surface of the uprights?
    Oct 18, 2016 at 9:40 AM - Toro1966: interesting
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:40 AM - Toro1966: Is there a way to weld filament to make short rolls into one long roll?
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:41 AM - daniel871: Not reliably or to where I'd trust the resulting roll to print properly.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:41 AM - Toro1966: I was thinking of 3D printing a mold and heating it with two ends in it.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:41 AM - daniel871: That Palette thing supposedly does it, but you could buy an R2 for the price of it.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:42 AM - daniel871: Also, there are tons of "Filament joiner" designs on Thingiverse with instructions.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:42 AM - Toro1966: lay them both in the bottom piece. Heat up where they intersect from underneath. Put in the top piece on and compress, Then you could just trim smooth the remaining.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:42 AM - danzca6: that's what the change filament command is for
    Oct 18, 2016 at 9:43 AM - daniel871: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:9850
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:43 AM - daniel871: You could build that and just put together all of your scraps and then make a rainbow hodgepodge object.
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:43 AM - Toro1966: But I have to sit there to use the change filament command. I have a bunch of 1/4 rolls left and I print large stuff a lot.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 9:44 AM - Toro1966: That's what I was thinking Daniel
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:54 AM - danzca6: I'm looking at doing some print jobs in PETG. anyone have any tips for it not chipping the glass? Just concerened since Robo is never stocked anymore
Oct 18, 2016 at 9:57 AM - Toro1966: Never had any glass chipped and I print a crap ton of it. I spray as normal, print, and let cool when done.
Oct 18, 2016 at 10:02 AM - Toro1966: This looks promising. A little spendy but promising.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 10:02 AM - Toro1966: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1656353
Oct 18, 2016 at 10:05 AM - danzca6: Thanks Toro...I will get my amazon order in and give it a try. I have just heard horror stories of chipped glass. Maybe the full cooldown is key.
Oct 18, 2016 at 10:06 AM - daniel871: Slow cooldown is the key, that and having a lot of hairspray or whatever between your PETG and the glass itself.
Oct 18, 2016 at 10:06 AM - daniel871: Taulman has a bit in their T-glase print settings saying to leave the bed at 35C in your end gcode until you remove the print.
Oct 18, 2016 at 10:12 AM - Toro1966: The fact that I use so much hair spray might be why I have been good :)
Oct 18, 2016 at 10:12 AM - Toro1966: I use the inland PETG from MicroCenter
    Oct 18, 2016 at 10:12 AM - Toro1966: Ironically I still have a spare bed from Robo :)
Oct 18, 2016 at 10:15 AM - Geof: PETG is a glass eater regardless in my experience. I now use a piece of window glass when printing petg, remove print hot. it lasts awhile but its cheaper than a whole bed :D
Oct 18, 2016 at 10:16 AM - Geof: colorfabb says XT, NGEN, and HT are all glass eaters too :D
Oct 18, 2016 at 10:21 AM - danzca6: great...really looking for something with good strength that is easy to print
    Oct 18, 2016 at 10:22 AM - danzca6: maybe painters tape?
Oct 18, 2016 at 10:22 AM - danzca6: of course then the tape will be stuck onto the part
Oct 18, 2016 at 10:22 AM - Toro1966: Watch - I probably jinxed myself now. Now it will chip lol.
Oct 18, 2016 at 10:23 AM - danzca6: no...the counter voodoo is that you have a spare bed in reserve
    Oct 18, 2016 at 10:30 AM - Toro1966: Lol
    Oct 18, 2016 at 10:30 AM - Toro1966: Very true.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 11:11 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Oct 18, 2016 at 1:22 PM - danzca6: You know the one plus side to the UM3 release is that I am sure the UM2 printers are going to get discounted...just saying
Oct 18, 2016 at 2:14 PM - daniel871: LOL if you think that.
    Oct 18, 2016 at 2:54 PM - Toro1966: Are the UM2 printers worth it?
    Oct 18, 2016 at 5:59 PM - danzca6: They are good printers...but I can make a clone for a lot less
    Oct 18, 2016 at 6:01 PM - Toro1966: That's what I figured.
Oct 18, 2016 at 6:05 PM - Geof: Hey guys
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:04 PM - danzca6: Man I hate it getting dark so soon... How are things gentleman?
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:05 PM - kevin wilson: slow
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:06 PM - danzca6: I see that... Doing anything fun tonight Kevin
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:07 PM - kevin wilson: lost girl series 5 on netflix
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:08 PM - kevin wilson: did some work on my kids castle bunkbed, needed drying time
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:08 PM - kevin wilson: you?
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:09 PM - danzca6: Yard work mostly. Felt like I needed a miners hat to keep working tonight
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:10 PM - danzca6: Really wanted to get some prints done, but I think that will be tomorrow
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:12 PM - Geof: tomorrow! !!!! Oh Danz.... lol
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:12 PM - Geof: dont deny the robo my friend...it will break
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:13 PM - Geof: god darn gremlins get in there haha
    Oct 18, 2016 at 7:14 PM - danzca6: I'm wiped out.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:14 PM - danzca6: How is the build going
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:15 PM - danzca6: Oh and I sprinkled holy water on the Robo to keep the gremlins away
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:16 PM - Geof: build is done. been working on calibrating the z.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:19 PM - Geof: I was hoping to have it running production today, maybe tomorrow.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:20 PM - danzca6: Probably best not to rush it
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:22 PM - Geof: the pinda sensor is a pain in the dick lol I dont like it. bastard better not move later lol
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:35 PM - danzca6: Haha... If it's a pitd than you must be doing something wrong
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:39 PM - Geof: I'd imagine so lol. :D That first layer with a sensor is hard to get use to. make small adjustment...run calibration...make small adjustment run calibration lol
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:44 PM - danzca6: Did you do the auto calibration or is this part only manual
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:49 PM - danzca6: Well I'm tapping out...4am comes too soon... Good night all
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:53 PM - Geof: yea did the auto but doens't account for the z offset.
Oct 18, 2016 at 7:53 PM - Geof: ok buddy have a good night. talk to you tomorrow

Oct 19, 2016 5:38 AM - danzca6: I thought you could adjust on the fly with the babystepping on the LCD
Oct 19, 2016 5:50 AM - Geof: You can but they say no more than 1mm or adjust sensor. Lol. Pain in the ass
Oct 19, 2016 5:52 AM - Geof: I wonder if the sensor is flaky. Different readings each time so ill double check the bed, replace the pei readjust the sensor and try calibration again lol
Oct 19, 2016 6:01 AM - danzca6: it's an inductive sensor right? never used one of those
Oct 19, 2016 6:02 AM - danzca6: my dad has one for his printrbot simple for an upgrade he hasn't done yet
    Oct 19, 2016 6:03 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
    Oct 19, 2016 6:05 AM - danzca6: Morning BIll
Oct 19, 2016 6:05 AM - Geof: Yea its inductive, just hard to get the hang of lol
    Oct 19, 2016 6:06 AM - Geof: Hey Bill
Oct 19, 2016 6:08 AM - danzca6: don't forget to read the manual before reaching out to Josef
Oct 19, 2016 6:12 AM - Geof: Lol ive read it. Im sure ill figure it out, just takes some dickin around with loo
    Oct 19, 2016 6:12 AM - Geof: Lol***
Oct 19, 2016 6:13 AM - danzca6: debating if I should buy the prototype expansion board for the DuetWifi. They have a 2 and 5 driver expansion they are working on. Could do independant X axis that way
Oct 19, 2016 6:16 AM - danzca6: it even gives you 12v power for fans and LEDS while the rest of the printer can be setup 24v
    Oct 19, 2016 6:17 AM - danzca6: too many temptations :)
    Oct 19, 2016 6:24 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning gentlepeople
    Oct 19, 2016 6:31 AM - danzca6: Morning WW
Oct 19, 2016 6:34 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, do you have Jim3DBot's IR or is it the other Dan?
    Oct 19, 2016 6:34 AM - danzca6: I have both Jim's and David's IR
Oct 19, 2016 6:35 AM - WheresWaldo: What mount did you print, I can't seem to find anything.
Oct 19, 2016 6:35 AM - danzca6: I made one in tinkercad that mounts to the side of the carriage
    Oct 19, 2016 6:36 AM - danzca6: it was before i was using 360
Oct 19, 2016 6:37 AM - WheresWaldo: Can Tinkercad export a solid model?
    Oct 19, 2016 6:37 AM - danzca6: just STL
Oct 19, 2016 6:38 AM - danzca6: Here is one that is close. Mine has a cover on it to keep from filament boogers. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1055255
Oct 19, 2016 6:39 AM - danzca6: may have to adjust the bottom holes to get the spacing you need
Oct 19, 2016 6:39 AM - danzca6: depends on the length of your hotend
Oct 19, 2016 6:39 AM - WheresWaldo: No issues with heat?
Oct 19, 2016 6:41 AM - danzca6: no...of course maybe the cover I have on mine helps with that.
Oct 19, 2016 6:42 AM - WheresWaldo: Okay, that one gives me an idea of how to design my own version.
Oct 19, 2016 6:42 AM - WheresWaldo: Did you get it working with RCBugFix?
    Oct 19, 2016 6:42 AM - danzca6: for ABL yes
Oct 19, 2016 6:43 AM - danzca6: Did the instructions for MESH a couple nights ago and can't get it to do the MESH routine correctly yet. I think I have to adjust the Z offset from nozzle in the firmware more
Oct 19, 2016 6:44 AM - WheresWaldo: That is what I meant, I can't really see a use for it with MESH
Oct 19, 2016 6:44 AM - danzca6: I was going to play with it more last night but was wiped
    Oct 19, 2016 6:44 AM - danzca6: It is a good Z homing probe :)
Oct 19, 2016 6:45 AM - WheresWaldo: But you only home at the beginning, I have never really had inconsistency in the Z probe even in the middle of the bed.
Oct 19, 2016 6:45 AM - danzca6: babystepping to the MESH probe points doesn't give me enough
Oct 19, 2016 6:46 AM - danzca6: I just would rather not push the nozzle off of the bed
    Oct 19, 2016 6:46 AM - danzca6: packs the filament a bit and I hate that
Oct 19, 2016 6:46 AM - WheresWaldo: I can see that as a good thing for someone who might use a build plate of some kind.
    Oct 19, 2016 6:47 AM - danzca6: right...buildtak..no problem
Oct 19, 2016 6:48 AM - WheresWaldo: Have you tried enabling Z_MIN_PROBE_REPEATABILITY_TEST since installing IR?
    Oct 19, 2016 6:50 AM - danzca6: I have not
Oct 19, 2016 6:51 AM - WheresWaldo: It uses M48 to test the probing over and over in the same location "M48 P8" would test 8 time in the exact same location
Oct 19, 2016 6:51 AM - WheresWaldo: It outputs a small table with measurements
    Oct 19, 2016 6:52 AM - danzca6: hmmm...may have to try that
Oct 19, 2016 6:52 AM - danzca6: I know the IR is very repeatable. Very accurate for me
Oct 19, 2016 6:53 AM - WheresWaldo: I think Mark Tomlinson turned me on to it and I used it for testing when I got my R1, I should probably enable it by default in my modified files.
Oct 19, 2016 6:55 AM - danzca6: did you see my post about enabling the filament change?
Oct 19, 2016 6:56 AM - danzca6: Another item I want to test this week
Oct 19, 2016 6:56 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah, I am not sure what is going on there, I have never used that functionality, but I do remember that the Devs removed the Ultipanel enabling when you select Full Graphics. It used to enable them both at the same time.
Oct 19, 2016 6:57 AM - danzca6: I did a more thourough scan of the code and see that it indeed should be enabled with the full graphics
Oct 19, 2016 6:57 AM - danzca6: I don't have one to test, but I think you should see the menu option after enabling the filament change feature
Oct 19, 2016 6:58 AM - WheresWaldo: If you see it with the latest RCBugFix I would open a ticket on the Marlin GITHUB
Oct 19, 2016 6:59 AM - danzca6: I'll give it a go this week and if I see any issue I will do that. I may get a full lcd off of amazon for cheap just to have for testing
Oct 19, 2016 7:00 AM - WheresWaldo: I have never used the 2004 or XXL, I can tell you I think the graphics make it easier to see at a glance.
Oct 19, 2016 7:01 AM - WheresWaldo: I still have to buy a complete replacement setup, I want to get an Arduino/RAMPS/Stepper drivers so I can have it on hand.
Oct 19, 2016 7:01 AM - danzca6: This is the one I just put in my cart https://amzn.com/B016D6DSBW
Oct 19, 2016 7:02 AM - danzca6: can't beat the price and I know Mark and Geof use the same one
Oct 19, 2016 7:03 AM - WheresWaldo: That is the same LCD I have.
Oct 19, 2016 7:03 AM - WheresWaldo: I might need to buy that myself, and it is Amazon Prime too.
Oct 19, 2016 7:03 AM - danzca6: yep and comes with everything else for a full replacement
    Oct 19, 2016 7:03 AM - danzca6: I love prime
Oct 19, 2016 7:03 AM - danzca6: been giving me free next day shipping lately
Oct 19, 2016 7:03 AM - WheresWaldo: Have you experimented with other stepper drivers?
Oct 19, 2016 7:04 AM - danzca6: I have a set of 8825 or whatever for my CNC, but haven't tried on the Robo
Oct 19, 2016 7:07 AM - WheresWaldo: If the TMC2100 were cheaper I would try those out.
Oct 19, 2016 7:08 AM - danzca6: My Duet has TMC2660 drivers...can't wait to get that connected up and see what difference it makes
Oct 19, 2016 7:09 AM - WheresWaldo: I did pick up a few 0.1 and 0.2 nozzles. That might be my next experiment.
    Oct 19, 2016 7:11 AM - danzca6: .1 wow
    Oct 19, 2016 7:11 AM - danzca6: that would be a trick
Oct 19, 2016 7:12 AM - danzca6: I have too many experiments waiting...once the yard work slows down I'll have more indoor time
    Oct 19, 2016 7:12 AM - danzca6: ok...kit ordered
Oct 19, 2016 7:13 AM - danzca6: Now I can see how the other half live with the full graphics
Oct 19, 2016 7:16 AM - WheresWaldo: I think you will like it. I am thinking about playing around a bit more with the touchscreen I bought ages ago. It is great for just running the printer but pretty useless for actually setting up a printer.
Oct 19, 2016 7:18 AM - WheresWaldo: I will tell you that the menu choice for Contrast doesn't seem to work with these cheap Chinese displays and you will need to adjust it with the pot on the front.
Oct 19, 2016 7:18 AM - danzca6: touch screen would be nice, but I am afraid I would accidently touch it when I shouldn't
    Oct 19, 2016 7:19 AM - danzca6: thanks...I'll have it Friday to try out
Oct 19, 2016 7:20 AM - WheresWaldo: The touchscreen is more informational, it is actually pretty hard to control the printer from it, that is why I would love to see how Robo does it with with external hardware (rPi).
    Oct 19, 2016 7:22 AM - danzca6: I wish there was an arduino emulator
Oct 19, 2016 7:23 AM - danzca6: I saw something over on ultimakers site once but it didn't have much support
Oct 19, 2016 7:26 AM - daniel871: Good grief, some moron on Facebook is posting hysterical screeds about the dangers of having an "i3" designed 3d printer. "Every kit/printer seller, without exception, cuts corners and sells fire hazard machines and it's on YOU to dismantle your machine and reassemble it with properly rated wires and plugs before using the printer, etc."
Oct 19, 2016 7:31 AM - WheresWaldo: I stopped using Facebook almost two years ago, too may people whose IQ and in the single digits.
Oct 19, 2016 7:31 AM - danzca6: The sky is falling, the sky is falling!
    Oct 19, 2016 7:31 AM - danzca6: haha
Oct 19, 2016 7:33 AM - WheresWaldo: The guy probably bought a GeeeTech and had a bad experience so all of them have to be bad.
Oct 19, 2016 7:33 AM - WheresWaldo: I was in an accident with a Chevy once, all Chevy's are death traps.
Oct 19, 2016 7:37 AM - daniel871: Dude is seriously reaching. I brought up how the Original Prusa i3 uses a much better control board than the one in the group he's posting in and he digs up a kit support thread from early 2015 where someone put it together wrong and got a short as "evidence" of a problem.
Oct 19, 2016 7:40 AM - daniel871: Never mind that most of these i3 kits will go into a firmware-driven shut down and/or fail to initiate prints before an actual fire hazard becomes a factor.
Oct 19, 2016 7:41 AM - daniel871: (and that the Wanhao printer in particular that he is posting about will blow relays and stop functioning before catching fire)
Oct 19, 2016 7:42 AM - daniel871: Yes, the printer can damage itself into no longer functioning if a bad soldering job was done, but that's not a fire hazard.
Oct 19, 2016 7:43 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, you know the story about wrestling with a pig and the internet? :)
    Oct 19, 2016 7:44 AM - WheresWaldo: [IMG]
    Oct 19, 2016 7:49 AM - danzca6: haha...best find ever...that is going into the keep folder for a later date...too funny...too true
Oct 19, 2016 7:51 AM - WheresWaldo: Glad I could be of service.
    Oct 19, 2016 8:05 AM - daniel871: It loses a little by being a product of Reddit.
Oct 19, 2016 8:05 AM - daniel871: Given what that entire website is based on.
    Oct 19, 2016 8:17 AM - daniel871:
    Oct 19, 2016 8:17 AM - daniel871: As always, don't read the comments.

    Oct 19, 2016 9:50 AM - danzca6: oh sure...MK makes a stop and I TOTALLY missed it...
Oct 19, 2016 10:20 AM - kapu007: has anyone seen when you preheat the exturder to 185. the light inside robo r1 plus starts to blink? Can't print anymore due to robo r1 plus turns off completely. after awhile it will turn on by itself
    Oct 19, 2016 10:40 AM - BryZad: Hey all
Oct 19, 2016 11:14 AM - Geof: Kapu is the small fan on ?
    Oct 19, 2016 11:14 AM - Geof: Hi bryzad
Oct 19, 2016 11:26 AM - danzca6: good question Geof, I put that in the thread he posted to as well
Oct 19, 2016 11:38 AM - BryZad: How this been Geof
Oct 19, 2016 12:10 PM - Geof: Been good and you? Thabks danz

Oct 19, 2016 1:03 PM - daniel871: Then again, knowing how to do it doesn't guarantee that you're doing it with the person you're married to.
Oct 19, 2016 2:47 PM - BryZad: Anyone have a link to the Greg's wade extruder on the Roo ?
    Oct 19, 2016 2:47 PM - BryZad: Robo
Oct 19, 2016 3:02 PM - daniel871: Which one? Original with bolts or the slightly newer one with the "quick release"?
Oct 19, 2016 3:03 PM - daniel871: Either way, you'd probably need to find a way to get @MikeKelly or @Harry to give it to you. They've both been posted on the forums but the search function is terrible.
    Oct 19, 2016 3:04 PM - danzca6: yes...I will get the link
    Oct 19, 2016 3:05 PM - danzca6: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:18379
    Oct 19, 2016 3:05 PM - danzca6: print the jhead verson
Oct 19, 2016 3:07 PM - danzca6: and to search the site, use google...just enter your search term as "search term site:community.robo.com" without the quotes of course
Oct 19, 2016 3:07 PM - danzca6: the one I linked to has some good updates
Oct 19, 2016 3:07 PM - danzca6: if you want the super original, Mike Kelly has the full printer designs on thingiverse
Oct 19, 2016 3:31 PM - BryZad: I would look for the old one I just need the back where filament is loaded
Oct 19, 2016 3:33 PM - BryZad: Where the bearing sits pinching the filament to the hobbled bolt
    Oct 19, 2016 3:34 PM - danzca6: There's a better design than stock for that
    Oct 19, 2016 3:35 PM - danzca6: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:69794 for the Robo files
    Oct 19, 2016 3:35 PM - BryZad: Really ?
Oct 19, 2016 3:36 PM - BryZad: I just wore out the guide hole for the filament
    Oct 19, 2016 3:36 PM - danzca6: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:729956 here's Mike Kelly's
Oct 19, 2016 3:37 PM - BryZad: Thanks I will look at the links when I get home
Oct 19, 2016 3:38 PM - danzca6: Here's an alternate quick release for the filament if you want to try http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:889541
Oct 19, 2016 3:56 PM - Toro1966: Hey guys - quick S3D question. When I change the number of top and bottom layers, is the software smart enough so that if based on my layer height and the number of layers, it is higher than the original object, it wil only print the correct number? Does that make sense?
    Oct 19, 2016 4:01 PM - danzca6: Yes and yes
    Oct 19, 2016 4:02 PM - Toro1966: Thanks brother.
Oct 19, 2016 4:03 PM - Toro1966: Got the new computer hooked up. It will slice the heck out of a file in S3D :)
Oct 19, 2016 4:04 PM - danzca6: Haha it's the Edwards scissor hands of slicers
Oct 19, 2016 4:05 PM - Toro1966: Yup. No spinning ball for me!
Oct 19, 2016 4:06 PM - danzca6: So printing on the mp tonight
    Oct 19, 2016 4:08 PM - Toro1966: Tomorrow. Took tomorrow and Friday off :)
    Oct 19, 2016 4:11 PM - danzca6: Nice...I wish I did... So much to do
    Oct 19, 2016 4:23 PM - Toro1966: Don't I know it!
Oct 19, 2016 6:31 PM - Toro1966: Hey guys - for the new mesh firmware, do I need to change anything in my startup script EXCEPT removing the M565? Here is what it looks like now. G28 ; home all axes G1 Z5 F5000 ; lift nozzle G29 ; probe the bed M109 S[extruder0_temperature] ; set the extruder temp and wait G28 X0 Y0 ; home again to start wipe G1 X20 Z0 F4800 ; wipe
    Oct 19, 2016 7:11 PM - danzca6: Yeah G29 is no longer needed
Oct 19, 2016 7:12 PM - danzca6: There is an optional command that WW points out with the download post
Oct 19, 2016 7:32 PM - Toro1966: I'll check out that post. Thanks. Where does that command go?
Oct 19, 2016 8:06 PM - danzca6: OK I lied...I guess it is still G29 but with parms and not the normal bed probing that happens without.
Oct 19, 2016 8:08 PM - danzca6: With the parms that WW points out it is setting an offset, but it's optional
    Oct 19, 2016 8:08 PM - danzca6: May not need it
    Oct 19, 2016 8:09 PM - BryZad: ANyone have a maker farm Prusa ?

Oct 20, 2016 at 4:15 AM - Geof: Good morning all! Hope everyone has a great day! No work for me today!
    Oct 20, 2016 at 5:11 AM - danzca6: No work...that explains you being up at 3:30
Oct 20, 2016 at 5:11 AM - danzca6: Enjoy the day off and do great things
Oct 20, 2016 at 5:12 AM - danzca6: Man I was supposed to have today and tomorrow off, but plans changed. Now I wish I took them off anyway.
Oct 20, 2016 at 5:13 AM - danzca6: That also means I miss the Orlando Maker Faire this year :(
Oct 20, 2016 at 5:20 AM - Geof: Bummer !!!! Yea man up at 3, took the lady to work, came home got the mk2 running, tweaked the robo, tore apart the sigma , pm the ditto lol
Oct 20, 2016 at 5:41 AM - danzca6: she had to go to work at 3? that's rough
Oct 20, 2016 at 5:41 AM - danzca6: man you were a busy guy this morning...I feal like a slacker now
Oct 20, 2016 at 5:42 AM - Geof: Lol nah the rest of my day is going to firm up the details on the new job and printing stuff
    Oct 20, 2016 at 5:43 AM - danzca6: nice...do you have a start date yet?
Oct 20, 2016 at 5:46 AM - Geof: Hopefully find out today. Phrased it as figuring out the transition lol
Oct 20, 2016 at 5:50 AM - danzca6: well I do wish you the best of luck...sounds like an exciting change
Oct 20, 2016 at 5:52 AM - Geof: Should be a lot of fun I hope. Their wanting to set up a store front for printers and filament / makers pace
Oct 20, 2016 at 5:53 AM - Geof: So should be very busy and get to meet a lot of cool people, plus working with the machine shop = cheaper parts lol
Oct 20, 2016 at 5:56 AM - danzca6: well I will take a road trip down once you are up and running...love to check the place out
Oct 20, 2016 at 5:57 AM - Geof: That would be awesome. I'll be taking a few of my printers in as well so should have a legit farm lol
Oct 20, 2016 at 5:58 AM - daniel871: How is the MK2 doing now that you've got it running, Geof?
Oct 20, 2016 at 5:59 AM - daniel871: Also where is the new job?
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:00 AM - daniel871: They were just talking yesterday about making an offer to a new guy they interviewed to come in and work in my department.
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:00 AM - daniel871: :tinfoil:
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:00 AM - Geof: Here in Bloomington, mk2 print quality is just as good as my sigma
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:01 AM - daniel871: I have no idea how well a Sigma prints in the real world vs. marketing.
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:02 AM - danzca6: Just saw Daniel Noree printed a nice dual color benchy on his
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:02 AM - Geof: Pretty amazing print quality, just incredibly loud.
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:02 AM - Geof: Mk2 is very quiet
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:02 AM - danzca6: louder than the robo?
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:02 AM - danzca6: sigma that is
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:03 AM - Geof: Oh dude..... It's the LOUDEST printer I've ever been around
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:03 AM - daniel871: Wonder what stepper drivers they use.
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:03 AM - Geof: So loud I have to shut the print room door when it's running.
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:04 AM - Geof: It's got a customized board like a Rambo, all integrated circuits. The mk2 is mini rambo
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:04 AM - daniel871: As in stepper whine noise or actual mechanical noises?
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:04 AM - Geof: Both. Plus Bowden extruders mounted to the steel frame directly gives a loud extrusion noise
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:05 AM - daniel871: Wonder if you could put dampers on the extruder steppers without messing it up.
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:05 AM - Geof: I'm going to mount them externally when I get the Bowden Titans set up to convert to 1.75.
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:06 AM - daniel871: Or you could do like some folks have done for the Monoprice i3 and put the entire printer on a yoga mat.
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:06 AM - daniel871: Which cuts down on the noise a huge amount simply by keeping the vibrations from the printer from transferring to the table it sits on.
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:06 AM - danzca6: get one of those garage square foam pads
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:06 AM - Geof: It's sitting on thick ninja flex pads right now. It's going to the new job with me or would have had to get moved into the closet lol
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:07 AM - daniel871: Or use those packs of garage foam pads to build a box around the printer after a job is good and running to insulate it.
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:07 AM - danzca6: then you will need to worry about components overheating
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:08 AM - daniel871: Not really, the packs I'm talking about aren't 100% air tight, heat escapes after a certain temperature is reached.
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:08 AM - Geof: I think getting the Titans on there will help, then start replacing the insanely loud fans lol
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:08 AM - danzca6: taking it to the new job...you're going to be like the guy that moved in next door with a loud dog
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:08 AM - daniel871: But all temperature movement radiates out, no drafts flowing in.
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:09 AM - Geof: Lol I know right, I'll be in a seep rate side of the building until the store gets opened.
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:09 AM - danzca6: it may still end up in the closet
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:10 AM - Geof: Lol :) right ! It is a badass dual material printer though. So in the end it does what it's suppose to :)
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:11 AM - Geof: In interested in another mk2 kit when I buy the quad color
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:11 AM - Geof: Run this one dual and the other quad
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:12 AM - danzca6: haha...and the farm continues to grow
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:12 AM - daniel871: I bet it's going to be a bit aggravating to own a noisy Sigma if the MK2 quad kit ends up being equal in print quality but quieter and cheaper.
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:12 AM - danzca6: it would be a bad ass thing to display at the shop for sure
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:13 AM - daniel871: (even if modeling/slicing for a four color print is going to be even more involved than your standard dual setup)
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:13 AM - Geof: The sigmas main advantage is dual waste ins on the idex. Plus the Prusa is really meant for 4 color, not so much 4 material :)
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:13 AM - danzca6: I'm saving about $600 doing some work on my van myself this weekend...think the wife would let me take that savings and put it towards an mk2?
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:14 AM - Geof: I like to think sigma... Dual material....mk2 multiple color.
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:14 AM - Geof: Danz .... If you don't tell her ... Lol.
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:15 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:15 AM - danzca6: Hey morning Bill
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:15 AM - Geof: Morning bill
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:15 AM - Bill Monroe: Dan, howzit?
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:15 AM - Bill Monroe: Hi Geof
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:15 AM - danzca6: just another day living the life
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:15 AM - Bill Monroe: that's a good thing :)
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:16 AM - danzca6: after tonight I might be done with yard work until next year...maybe a mowing still, but the other crap done
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:16 AM - danzca6: so life is good
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:16 AM - Bill Monroe: yes
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:17 AM - danzca6: how are things in sunny ca?
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:17 AM - Bill Monroe: cold! :)
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:17 AM - Bill Monroe: we have a santa ana condition now.. 100 degress in daytime.. under 50 at night
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:18 AM - danzca6: that's a hell of a shift
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:18 AM - Bill Monroe: 2.0 asked me to add some heat to her yoga deck a couple of weeks ago
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:18 AM - daniel871: PLA and PVA can be printed at similar temperatures, same goes for ABS and HIPS. Also there may be some overlap in temperatures for some flex materials and the more rigid materials.
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:18 AM - danzca6: we will be in the 30s tonight...so think warm thoughts
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:18 AM - danzca6: PVA is a moisture sucker
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:19 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, I ordered our usual winter's worht of firewood last week,, should be here saturday
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:19 AM - daniel871: 61 degree low tonight.
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:19 AM - daniel871: Stupid fake cool weather transition we had the last couple weeks didn't hold.
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:20 AM - daniel871: Temps in the mid-upper 80s again.
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:20 AM - Bill Monroe: those heaters on her deck cast an orange glow on her.. surreal
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:31 AM - Toro1966: Morning All
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:31 AM - Bill Monroe: toro
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:36 AM - Toro1966: Working on my first print on this i3. So far bed leveling is a little bit of a PITA
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:42 AM - danzca6: did I miss a pic
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:42 AM - Toro1966: Lol. One sec Dan and I'll post one.
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:43 AM - danzca6: Oh I was asking Bill
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:43 AM - danzca6: but I'd like to see one of the i3 as well
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:44 AM - danzca6: Is bed leveling just manual with the MP i3 right
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:44 AM - Bill Monroe: heh she doent like to post pics of her without previous appoval.. she's very protectiveof her inernet image
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:44 AM - danzca6: damn...stupid phone calls :)
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:44 AM - danzca6: I can understand that
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:44 AM - Bill Monroe: she had some stalking expriences in the past
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:45 AM - Toro1966: Yep - manual. Leveled corner to corner like it said, but when donw and I started the first print, the front half was obviously too high. So I turned the screws while it was printing and it seems to be going now.
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:45 AM - danzca6: I had a stalker in HS and College...not fun
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:46 AM - Bill Monroe: there are some hutjobs out there
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:46 AM - Bill Monroe: nutjobs
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:46 AM - danzca6: more everyday

    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:47 AM - danzca6: That's not too bad
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:48 AM - Bill Monroe: apparently some guy followed her home after a carshow. posted pics of her house on myspace.. even posted about when he was going to wait for her..
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:49 AM - danzca6: that...is a bit scary...what is this myspace you speak of :)
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:49 AM - Bill Monroe: :) some online thing
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:49 AM - danzca6: funny how many social networking sites have come and gone
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:51 AM - danzca6: Toro that is a nice setup...I can see how the extra box can become combersome
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:51 AM - Toro1966: They should all go....
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:57 AM - Toro1966: Thanks Dan. Yep - I wish it were integrated but for 325 - it works!
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:57 AM - danzca6: indeed
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:57 AM - danzca6: can't beat the price
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:57 AM - danzca6: well...you could if they would honor the 15% off code
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:58 AM - Toro1966: Wife bought me that new table yesterday for it. If I panned right you would see my Robo. I have space for another printer so I told her the MK2 would fit perfectly!
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:58 AM - Toro1966: The cool thing is that because the USPS delivered it a day late, I called Amazon and they gave me a $50 credit!
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:58 AM - danzca6: haha...bonus
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:58 AM - Toro1966: I actually had two things of XTC-3D in the shipment as well and they just gave me those free.
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:59 AM - danzca6: you'll have to report back on the XTC-3D
Oct 20, 2016 at 6:59 AM - danzca6: I saw Bill Noran use it this week
    Oct 20, 2016 at 6:59 AM - danzca6: looks pretty cool
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:00 AM - danzca6: I wonder if 3 printers printing on that table will make it wobble
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:01 AM - danzca6: oh, and did she give you an eye roll when you mentioned the mk2? I would have gotten a good eye roll out of that. haha
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:01 AM - Toro1966: I was thinking the same thing regarding the wobble. But I will tell you that so far, this i3 is EXTREMELY smooth. No wobble and no movement. Must be accel and jerk settings
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:02 AM - Toro1966: Of course I got the eye roll. But I'll still put it on my Christmas list :)
    Oct 20, 2016 at 7:02 AM - danzca6: Better be good
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:02 AM - Toro1966: My Robo has FAR more movement than this does at the same print speed
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:06 AM - Toro1966: I did have Amazon send me a replacment machine anyway. Didn't want to take the chance of starting with one that had originally had a broken frame.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:06 AM - daniel871: I told you that i3 was a surprisingly robust machine for the price.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:06 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning guys.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:08 AM - Toro1966: It's definitely good so far Daniel. Had some leveling issues I am still figuring out. Morning Waldo!
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:08 AM - Toro1966: Installed the mesh firmware in my Robo last night and leveled the bed but haven't printed yet.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:09 AM - daniel871: Does mesh still do that thing where the probe movement goes back to the first touch-off point and basically scrapes the glass bed between sample points?
    Oct 20, 2016 at 7:09 AM - daniel871: On the Z-axis movement.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:10 AM - Toro1966: Haven't printed with it yet, but hasn't yet. My question right now is when I autohome, it homes just as you would expect on all axis', ends up in the middle, and then after homing lifts slightly so it is a couple of mm off the bed. This might be normal, but I don't know yet.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:12 AM - Toro1966: Daniel - do you just level your i3 on the fly? What I mean is that of course you level before you start, but I am on my first print and although I leveled as outlined in the procedure before I printed, the front of the bed still needed adjustment. I found it pretty easy to adjust with the thumb screws while it was putting down the first layer. Thoughts?
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:18 AM - danzca6: so..did amazon ask for the old i3 back? or just sending you a new one?
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:19 AM - Toro1966: Yep - I'll send it back when I get the new one - which should be here tomorrow.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:19 AM - danzca6: The new firmware on the Robo with the jerk and accel setting changes make it much smoother
    Oct 20, 2016 at 7:19 AM - danzca6: I noticed mine is a bit quieter now
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:19 AM - Toro1966: Awesome - did you see my note about raising after homing with the new firmware Dan - is that nromal>?
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:19 AM - daniel871: Mine was an older version with wing nuts, that I replaced with lock nuts, so I'm not sure how the thumbwheels on yours will work.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:19 AM - daniel871: But after I put lock nuts on the adjusting screws, I only have to level the bed once.
    Oct 20, 2016 at 7:19 AM - danzca6: I think that is normal
    Oct 20, 2016 at 7:20 AM - Toro1966: Cool. So you didn't add that G29 command?
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:20 AM - Toro1966: I don't have it in there either. Going to print this evening and try out the new mesh.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:20 AM - daniel871: G29 only queries to see if the mesh profile is loaded IIRC.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:21 AM - WheresWaldo: Sorry stepped away, no it no longer scrapes the bed, they added a lift between each point during MESH
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:21 AM - daniel871: Having different S# values after it have different reactions.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:21 AM - daniel871: Or at least they did back in RC6 or whatever it was when my Robo died.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:22 AM - danzca6: WW are you using G29 S# on yours with MESH
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:22 AM - daniel871: My favorite thing about Mesh is it's a thing you run once, save to the EEPROM and then theoretically never have to run again unless you modify the bed somehow.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:23 AM - WheresWaldo: G29 will allow you to edit specific points or to set an offset. I kept it in there to make sure MESH is active as it will report it if used without any parameters.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:23 AM - Toro1966: This is what my start script in S3D is - is this correct?
    Oct 20, 2016 at 7:23 AM - Toro1966: G28 ; home all axes G1 Z5 F5000 ; lift nozzle M109 S[extruder0_temperature] ; set the extruder temp and wait G28 X0 Y0 ; home again to start wipe G1 X20 Z0 F4800 ; wipe
    Oct 20, 2016 at 7:24 AM - Toro1966: Or should I put the G29 in there?
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:24 AM - daniel871: I'm not sure how you'll have the chance to react or what your options are other than canceling the print if the G29 reports that Mesh isn't active for whatever reason.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:24 AM - WheresWaldo: How do you get away with not homing Z? I would change the G28 X0 Y0 to just G28
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:25 AM - daniel871: Maybe in Terminal in Octoprint or via a USB connection to your computer.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:25 AM - daniel871: The same thing happens on the next line, Waldo.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:25 AM - daniel871: Except it's an angled movement to approach Z0 instead of dragging at Z0 the entire movement.
    Oct 20, 2016 at 7:25 AM - WheresWaldo: No it doesn't
    Oct 20, 2016 at 7:26 AM - daniel871: "G1 X20 Z0 F4800"
    Oct 20, 2016 at 7:26 AM - daniel871: Starting at Z5 from immediately after the first G28.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:26 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan you are smarter than that, G1 is a movement not a homing
    Oct 20, 2016 at 7:26 AM - daniel871: Z was already homed in the very first G28.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:27 AM - WheresWaldo: Right, now I see it, skipped over it before. No need for two of them seems redundant.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:28 AM - daniel871: Looks like it homes and raises up so the nozzle can drip while heating up, then it moves laterally and brings Z to whatever 0 is at on the Mesh after heated up to press the dripped filament to the bed coming from the Home position, then it goes and does the rest of the print.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:28 AM - WheresWaldo: I print everything through Octoprint, so I sit in the terminal screen, seeing something amiss allows me to cancel right away.
    Oct 20, 2016 at 7:29 AM - danzca6: He has G28 in there twice
    Oct 20, 2016 at 7:29 AM - danzca6: just need it once
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:30 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah I focused on the second, skipping over the first, but the second one is redundant.
    Oct 20, 2016 at 7:30 AM - daniel871: I agree there, the second G28 should just be a G0.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:31 AM - daniel871: LOL, Makergeeks is wanting to get in on the subscription mystery box market. http://www.makergeeks.com/makergeekbox.html
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:31 AM - WheresWaldo: My opinion is the whole line can go, not even changed.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:31 AM - daniel871: I guess that depends on whether the G28 by itself still lifts and moves to the center of the build plate or if that was changed at some point.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:35 AM - danzca6: I think makergeek has had that for awhile
    Oct 20, 2016 at 7:35 AM - danzca6: I thought I saw some unboxings in the past
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:35 AM - Toro1966: So which line are we saying can go?
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:35 AM - Toro1966: And do I need to add the G29 in there somewhere?
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:36 AM - Toro1966: Sorry, I tried to follow the thread but was getting lost Lol
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:36 AM - WheresWaldo: Still moves to the center, but if you want it on the edge, better to use a G1 X0 Y0 as it will be faster and just move , rather than doing the double touch.
    Oct 20, 2016 at 7:37 AM - WheresWaldo: G28 X0 Y0, my opinion it should be G1 X0 Y0
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:38 AM - WheresWaldo: Also I just use G29 as a reference, but since I test new firmwares nearly every week, I need it there to verify I haven't f'ed up something with MESH between flashes.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:39 AM - WheresWaldo: After you do the MESH routine there really is just no need to use G29 other than for confidence that it is still active or if you need to change a parameter for a print.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:41 AM - Toro1966: The second G28 is in there for the wipe. It goes back to the front left and then wipes before it starts to print.
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:43 AM - WheresWaldo: That is the one that should change to a simple move G1 not G28
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:44 AM - WheresWaldo: It will just move the extruder and move it faster than a G28
    Oct 20, 2016 at 7:48 AM - Toro1966: Thanks Waldo!
Oct 20, 2016 at 7:51 AM - Toro1966: Have to run some errands. Back in a bit. Pic of the first I3 print

Oct 20, 2016 at 8:00 AM - daniel871: Print something tall next (maybe the Z-resonance test file) and see how it compares to what you normally print on the Robo.
Oct 20, 2016 at 8:00 AM - danzca6: not bad at all...what filament was used
Oct 20, 2016 at 8:03 AM - danzca6: remember those flip up sunglass clipons for glasses? This is like the modern day version. http://www.3ders.org//articles/2016...ered-uv-triggered-retractable-sunglasses.html
Oct 20, 2016 at 8:09 AM - daniel871: Hm. Just got a random email from that Poly Alchemy PLA manufacturer saying I won one of their contests for a free spool of PLA.
Oct 20, 2016 at 8:09 AM - daniel871: They currently have another one running for 10 spools.
Oct 20, 2016 at 8:09 AM - daniel871: What the hell, entering that one too.

    Oct 20, 2016 at 8:15 AM - daniel871: I've only had bad luck with Robo3D products. ;)
    Oct 20, 2016 at 8:16 AM - danzca6: but...you won a free Robo R1+
Oct 20, 2016 at 8:17 AM - danzca6: granted you had no luck with it
Oct 20, 2016 at 8:17 AM - daniel871: Yeah, that was kind of a wash.
Oct 20, 2016 at 8:21 AM - Geof: Hows everybody
Oct 20, 2016 at 8:24 AM - danzca6: Man..are you going to get any sleep today?
Oct 20, 2016 at 8:24 AM - daniel871: I'm having one of those days where I'm having trouble concentrating on things.
Oct 20, 2016 at 8:30 AM - daniel871: The late shows and SNL are going to have so much fun this weekend.
    Oct 20, 2016 at 8:50 AM - danzca6: I don't get it...only 7 left out of 55 for the kickstarter where people are buying both the C2 and R2.
Oct 20, 2016 at 8:51 AM - danzca6: I didn't think that there would be that many buying both
    Oct 20, 2016 at 8:51 AM - danzca6: also...https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1238702276/robo-c2-and-robo-r2-smart-3d-printers/posts/1711471
Oct 20, 2016 at 8:51 AM - danzca6: I guess they are using a homebrew all in one controller board
    Oct 20, 2016 at 8:57 AM - danzca6: interesting read
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:02 AM - Geof: Nope no sleep just printing lol.
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:02 AM - Geof: Playing with ngen flex
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:05 AM - danzca6: did you see Joel's video this morning with ngen and the furry vase?
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:06 AM - danzca6: I am going to have to print that furry vase....looks cool
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:14 AM - daniel871: Is it just me, or is the build plate badly out of square with the frame/the frame badly out of square with itself in this GIF?
    Oct 20, 2016 at 9:14 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:15 AM - daniel871: (said GIF is from the kickstarter update post)
    Oct 20, 2016 at 9:16 AM - daniel871: Also holy massive space-wasting carriage design.
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:16 AM - danzca6: yeah I saw that...I still can't believe they stuck with the hex
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:17 AM - daniel871: Also that probe triggering a pretty long distance away from the build plate.
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:17 AM - daniel871: Not sure how normal that is though.
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:18 AM - danzca6: it's hard to see on that gif
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:18 AM - Geof: Yea saw his video lol furry stuff lol
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:18 AM - daniel871: It looks like the probe tip is intended to be on the same plane as the tip of the heater block. Maybe if the nozzle length from the heater block is considered a known/constant that can work with an offset or something, but still.
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:19 AM - daniel871: That is the bulkiest fan shroud design though.
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:20 AM - Geof: Thats a goofy looking set up man
    Oct 20, 2016 at 9:22 AM - daniel871: That's the latest GIF of the R2 design.
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:23 AM - WheresWaldo: So dan, do you trust their expertise with modifying Marlin or creating software to run their printers? ;)
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:23 AM - daniel871: About as much as I trust any given politician to tell the truth.
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:24 AM - daniel871: Substitute used car salesman/lawyer as necessary for similar comparisons.
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:24 AM - danzca6: It will be interesting to see their firmware code when they release it...all homebrew board...so I wouldn't mind seeing it as well
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:24 AM - danzca6: of course that part won't be open source
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:25 AM - danzca6: just like the R1+ ramp modifications they made
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:25 AM - WheresWaldo: They imply that there are code changes not just configuration changes, as well as a custom Python app running on the rPi
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:26 AM - WheresWaldo: They probably needed to make the electronics smaller, but I doubt they have any electrical engineers on staff to actually create a new RAMPS compatible board. Probably done by their Chinese supplier.
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:26 AM - daniel871: "all homebrew board" = "Melzi controller with open ports for expansion"
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:27 AM - danzca6: how they did the LCD would be neat to look into more
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:27 AM - danzca6: the RoboOS is all based off of Octoprint
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:27 AM - daniel871: They could probably do a lot better by just getting an MKS controller and making the leap to smoothieware or something.
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:27 AM - WheresWaldo: I think the LCD is just a front end display for the rPi, so it should work on any printer running Marlin and Octoprint.
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:28 AM - WheresWaldo: If it is any good, I am sure someone can modify it to make it more generic.
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:29 AM - WheresWaldo: At least they are using Dave Crocker's IR
    Oct 20, 2016 at 9:29 AM - danzca6: I can't wait to do a diff on the firmware
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:29 AM - daniel871: Maybe an MKS Base card to stick with Marlin.
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:29 AM - danzca6: and giving proper credit to DC...not sure what the next version is going to be they keep mentioning
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:30 AM - WheresWaldo: As soon as they post it on GitHub, I'll see about doing a diff v. 1.1.0
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:30 AM - daniel871: Here is an MKS Base card for reference: [IMG]
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:31 AM - WheresWaldo: As much as I hate the way MKS does business, they do make a pretty good board once you are past the 1.0 versions.
    Oct 20, 2016 at 9:31 AM - WheresWaldo: I have their SBase 1.2 board
    Oct 20, 2016 at 9:32 AM - danzca6: off topic...amazon has a pretty good deal on leds btw...https://amzn.com/B01E3ID592
    Oct 20, 2016 at 9:32 AM - WheresWaldo: And their TFT28
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:33 AM - daniel871: Agh, forgot to grab my lunch out of the fridge before leaving home.
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:33 AM - WheresWaldo: Not bad, but I have too many spools of LED strips, White, Orange and RGB
    Oct 20, 2016 at 9:34 AM - WheresWaldo: Even cheaper here https://www.amazon.com/Waterproof-O...rd_wg=8epEh&psc=1&refRID=SZCMCEBGVZ4DS3NVRCRN
    Oct 20, 2016 at 9:35 AM - danzca6: oh and these are waterproof...thanks
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:35 AM - danzca6: doing some lighting projects and this will work great
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:35 AM - daniel871: Guess I'll give Jimmy John's a shot since they conveniently came by the other week dropping off coupons trying to get business.
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:36 AM - WheresWaldo: My kid loves Jimmy John's, never been there myself.
    Oct 20, 2016 at 9:36 AM - danzca6: JJs is delicious
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:37 AM - daniel871: They deliver, if there is one near where you work.
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:37 AM - danzca6: better than subway hands down
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:41 AM - daniel871: Ha, there is an option on their online ordering to cut bread out of the sub roof or leave it?
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:42 AM - daniel871: "This option is here because some people want more toppings and less bread", okay.
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:48 AM - danzca6: Really? I'll have to remember that trick
    Oct 20, 2016 at 9:49 AM - daniel871: Hahaha. [IMG]
Oct 20, 2016 at 9:55 AM - daniel871: The other 1% were congressional dick pics.
    Oct 20, 2016 at 9:56 AM - danzca6: I didn't see them...so I'll take your word for it ...hahaha
Oct 20, 2016 at 10:01 AM - daniel871: What is actually there in the leaked emails is a bunch of boring stuff. There were literally segments about it where reporters were reading correspondence about how to properly cook risotto.
Oct 20, 2016 at 10:03 AM - daniel871: Also people talking about how other people are assholes and the usual workplace/office drama stuff.
Oct 20, 2016 at 1:22 PM - Toro1966: Question guys - can the same filament required two different temps to print and stick successfully on one printer vs another?
    Oct 20, 2016 at 1:28 PM - daniel871: Yep.
Oct 20, 2016 at 1:28 PM - daniel871: Mainly due to differences between how accurately each printer measures temperatures.
Oct 20, 2016 at 1:30 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Daniel. Trying to print on this monmoprice
Oct 20, 2016 at 1:30 PM - daniel871: Like, the Monoprice I have would have to be set to print at temps that were about 10 degrees higher than what I'd use on the Robo.
Oct 20, 2016 at 1:30 PM - Toro1966: First print came out fine but was very brittle
Oct 20, 2016 at 1:31 PM - Toro1966: Second print I am using a raft because it wouldn't stick to buildtak. Second and third layers would come up on the edge after the hotend went over them.
Oct 20, 2016 at 1:31 PM - Toro1966: Upped temp to 205 and seems to be printing fine. Bed level is fine and first alyer is going down and sticking fine
Oct 20, 2016 at 1:31 PM - daniel871: Did you clean the Buildtak before printing again?
Oct 20, 2016 at 1:32 PM - daniel871: Related question: Did you accidentally touch the Buildtak with your skin? Skin oils will just wreck the adhesion on Buildtak.
Oct 20, 2016 at 1:33 PM - Toro1966: Yep several times I cleaned it and did not touch it afterwards. The first layer would stick, but the second and third would lift as the hotend turned direction back - if that makes sense.
Oct 20, 2016 at 1:33 PM - Toro1966: I think part of the issue is that the temp fluctuates enough that you have to print a few degrees high anyway to take into account that fluctuation
Oct 20, 2016 at 1:34 PM - daniel871: I'd adjust the 1st layer height slightly to "smoosh" it to the Buildtak a little better.
Oct 20, 2016 at 1:36 PM - Toro1966: what setting is that in S3D? That said, it is pretty nicely squished.
    Oct 20, 2016 at 2:18 PM - daniel871: I'm talking about really tiny micro-adjustments.
    Oct 20, 2016 at 2:18 PM - daniel871: [IMG]
Oct 20, 2016 at 2:19 PM - daniel871: Layer Tab, and First layer Height on the right-hand side.
    Oct 20, 2016 at 2:19 PM - daniel871: Also, this whole write-up is worth reading. https://www.simplify3d.com/support/articles/perfecting-the-first-layer/
Oct 20, 2016 at 3:08 PM - Toro1966: Thanks. To be honest, and not to jinx myself, but my first layers have been great. Think it was the temp screwing up the follow on layers.
Oct 20, 2016 at 3:08 PM - Toro1966: Will find out. I am about 3 hours into an 18 hour print. No better way to try it out than the present!

    Oct 21, 2016 at 6:30 AM - daniel871: It's Friday. [IMG]
    Oct 21, 2016 at 7:18 AM - Toro1966: Morning all.
Oct 21, 2016 at 7:19 AM - Toro1966: Monoprice i3 is still printing. About 10% more. It's been printing for about 16 hours.
Oct 21, 2016 at 7:30 AM - Geof: Good Morning
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:33 AM - Mike Kelly: if anyone is interested in joining our group buy on some Prusa i3 MK2's send me a message. If we can get 20 commits we get a 20% discount to bring the kit price down to 560. It's quickly become my favorite printer
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: also if you guys ever need it I uploaded the robo3d to onshape: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/9...eb1e8d0cd28bd176f3/e/15629c6b47751aa731b5abaf
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:41 AM - Geof: Hey mike. Youll love the kit. Its amazing
    Oct 21, 2016 at 8:43 AM - danzca6: Oh I'm interested Mike
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:44 AM - danzca6: I was hoping we could get Josef to come to MRRF and we could do a weekend build-athon of MK2s
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:45 AM - Mike Kelly: my coworker bought one and i helped him build it, it's a killer printer
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:45 AM - danzca6: Geof is KILLING me with the prints he has shown me
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:45 AM - Mike Kelly: josef was at last years MWRRF
    Oct 21, 2016 at 8:45 AM - danzca6: I know
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:45 AM - Geof: Yea i just got mine rolling. Print quality rivals my sigma
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:45 AM - danzca6: that is why I am hoping he will come again
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:45 AM - Mike Kelly: and i met him again at WMF
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:45 AM - Mike Kelly: our sigma keeps jamming it's really bad
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:46 AM - Mike Kelly: our UM3 arrives today though
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:46 AM - Mike Kelly: we may have an addiction to buying 3d printers...
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:46 AM - danzca6: I thought you guys were supposed to be building 3d printers
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:46 AM - Geof: Did you put thermal paste on the hotends ?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 8:46 AM - danzca6: :)
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:47 AM - Mike Kelly: i've done literally nothing to it
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:47 AM - Mike Kelly: we are building 3d printers but you gotta print plastic sometimes ;)
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:47 AM - Geof: Gotya. Their doing thermal paste on all their hotends now to resolve that issue.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 8:47 AM - Mike Kelly: i see, i guess i'll find some
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:47 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm also considering throwing a couple bondtechs on
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:48 AM - danzca6: was your company at WMF?
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:48 AM - Mike Kelly: their extruder is underwhelming
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:48 AM - Mike Kelly: just as guests
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:48 AM - Mike Kelly: we're not really the WMF kind of printer
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:48 AM - Mike Kelly: more of IMTS or AMOG
    Oct 21, 2016 at 8:48 AM - danzca6: ah, gotcha
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:48 AM - danzca6: if you go to IMTS let me know
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:48 AM - Geof: Yea man it defianently helps. It defianently needs the titan v6 combo. When i get around to installing ill pm you my files
    Oct 21, 2016 at 8:48 AM - danzca6: I've got free tickets now
    Oct 21, 2016 at 8:48 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:49 AM - Geof: Hey waldo!
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:49 AM - Geof: Good morning
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:49 AM - danzca6: Mike are you going to be on onshape for now on with your models?
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:49 AM - WheresWaldo: Geof, Dan and the MK
    Oct 21, 2016 at 8:50 AM - danzca6: Hey WW
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:50 AM - Geof: :) its a down right motley bunch in the shoutbox today lol
    Oct 21, 2016 at 8:50 AM - danzca6: I love it
    Oct 21, 2016 at 8:52 AM - danzca6: Mike...you going to MRRF this year?
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:53 AM - danzca6: I know Torro might be interested in the group buy as well
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:53 AM - Geof: Mike idevelo on twitter has his all printed external bondtech e3dv6 files if you want them. He seems very please
    Oct 21, 2016 at 8:53 AM - Geof: Pleased***
    Oct 21, 2016 at 8:57 AM - Toro1966: Morning All.
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:58 AM - Geof: Hey toro
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:59 AM - Geof: Good morning
Oct 21, 2016 at 8:59 AM - Toro1966: Just got my print done on the monoprice. Came out pretty good but it is still a little brittle. I am printing at 10 degrees higher than I usually do with this exact filament so I am not sure. Going to try a different filament just in case that is the issue. I also didn't use an oiler like I should have - but got anxious and forgot to put one on. Pics coming
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:00 AM - danzca6: torro, interested in a group buy for an MK2?
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:00 AM - Toro1966: I was printing the terminator bust and I used supports and when I removed the supports, the smaller pieces around the head came off with it. Partially because I believe it is still a little brittle and partially because I don't think I can print the supports in there.
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:00 AM - Toro1966: The supports came off easy though.
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:01 AM - Toro1966: ABSOLUTELY!!! Wife literally 10 minutes ago told me should buy one for Christmas and to order it now.
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:01 AM - Toro1966: I'll hold off until I hear something from yoiu guys,
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:01 AM - danzca6: Mike just mentioned a discount if we can get 20
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:02 AM - danzca6: not sure how the distribution would work once they arrive
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:02 AM - Geof: Toro direct message mike kelly.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:02 AM - Toro1966: Will do.
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:03 AM - Geof: Danz better get that message to get in on the deal :)
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:03 AM - Geof: Let me know how many your short at the end ill talk with the boss man unless he wants to go the build your own clone route
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:04 AM - danzca6: done
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:05 AM - Toro1966: Done
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:05 AM - danzca6: $560 isn't a huge discount, but better than nothing
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:05 AM - Geof: 200.00 off. Thats pretty good. With the savings you can buy the quad kit
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:06 AM - Toro1966: I was going to say - they are notmally 599. If I can get it for 560 - that is fantastic
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:06 AM - danzca6: $200?
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:06 AM - danzca6: is it the full build or the kit
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:06 AM - Toro1966: That's the price for the multi color kit :)
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:06 AM - Toro1966: 699
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:06 AM - Toro1966: sorry type
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:06 AM - Toro1966: typo
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:06 AM - Toro1966: so 560 is 150 off
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:07 AM - danzca6: crap...you are correct
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:07 AM - danzca6: I was thinking 599 for the kit
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:07 AM - Geof: 765 shipped
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:13 AM - danzca6: my wife is going to kill me
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:14 AM - danzca6: I better start selling my plasma to pay for this prusa
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:14 AM - Geof: Just tell her you can make money on hubs since its in the top 3 :)
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:15 AM - Geof: The sigma paid for this, this is paying for the 2nd one :)
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:15 AM - Geof: 765 isnt much to make back
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:16 AM - danzca6: $560 + ? for S/H would be less that 765 I bet
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:16 AM - danzca6: Maybe 620ish total
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:17 AM - Geof: It was 65 for shipping i think. I did the extra 5 bucks for 3 day lol
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:18 AM - danzca6: I wonder how the distribution of the group buy will work
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:18 AM - danzca6: I'm all for a roadtrip to Boston to see MK, but...
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:19 AM - Toro1966: Good question. the easiest answer is for us each to pay full shipping and have gen Coke to our houses individually.
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:20 AM - danzca6: Geof...do you have an open couch in case I get kicked to the curb? haha
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:20 AM - Toro1966: Lol. Have them ship...
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: just finished lunch
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:21 AM - danzca6: oh yeah...you're an hour ahead now
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: i am def going to MWRRF
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:21 AM - danzca6: awesome
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:21 AM - danzca6: I'll be there as well
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:22 AM - Mike Kelly: killer
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:22 AM - Mike Kelly: thanks for the tip geof, i'll look into that
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:22 AM - danzca6: indeed...it should be a great time...bring the homebrew

Oct 21, 2016 at 9:26 AM - Mike Kelly: i do use it at work though, but that's different
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:26 AM - danzca6: oh ok
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:26 AM - danzca6: what discount do we get if we get 40?
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:26 AM - Mike Kelly: haha we'd have to ask
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:27 AM - Mike Kelly: it was 10% for 6 and 20% for 20, not sure if there's another level
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:27 AM - Mike Kelly: we're still trying to get some more interest
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:27 AM - danzca6: will you just invoice us on paypal or something?
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:28 AM - Mike Kelly: sure
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:28 AM - Toro1966: Thanks for putting this together Mike
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:29 AM - danzca6: yeah...this is awesome
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:29 AM - Toro1966: How many do we have now?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:29 AM - danzca6: Thanks Mike
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:30 AM - danzca6: I twittered you as well...so just so you don't count that as 2 ;)
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:30 AM - Mike Kelly: ah
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:31 AM - Mike Kelly: i think we're at like 35 but some of them are maybe's
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:33 AM - Toro1966: Nice.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:33 AM - danzca6: HOLY SHIT!
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:33 AM - danzca6: sorry
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:33 AM - Toro1966: That's definitely more than the 20 we need!w
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:33 AM - danzca6: just got an envelope from my boss with a BIGG ASS check in it
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:34 AM - danzca6: BOOM! No more couch for me!
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:34 AM - Toro1966: Yeah, that always happens to me Dan.....NOT!
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:34 AM - danzca6: serious...the timing is insane...we made our goals and weren't told until just now
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:35 AM - Toro1966: Now you can buy 2 mk2s
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:35 AM - danzca6: I could buy 6 actually
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:35 AM - danzca6: or a UM3
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:35 AM - danzca6: haha
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:35 AM - danzca6: hot dog
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:36 AM - Toro1966: Woot woot
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:37 AM - danzca6: what is even better is my wife works here as well...so double
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:37 AM - Toro1966: I would go with the Mk2s and have your own farm.
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:37 AM - Mike Kelly: like 26 yes though
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:38 AM - danzca6: I've never hugged my boss before...but came damn close
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:39 AM - Toro1966: Excellent Mike!
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:39 AM - Toro1966: Can't wait! Still working on this i3.
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:40 AM - Toro1966: What's an acceptable temp variation during printing.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:41 AM - Mike Kelly: 3-5c
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:42 AM - Toro1966: Ok. That's about what I'm getting. 3-4
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:42 AM - Toro1966: Just getting some brittle prints. Going to change filament and try again.
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:44 AM - Toro1966: Might up the temp a little more. I'm already printing about 10 degrees above what I print on the robo.
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:49 AM - Mike Kelly: is the the horrible MK10 extruder?
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:50 AM - daniel871: To be fair to that extruder, I had better luck with it than the Wade that I had on my Robos (as far as stripping the filament went).
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:50 AM - daniel871: Also, on that MK2 group buy, are they fully assembled or kits?
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:52 AM - daniel871: I'm scrolling up but the browser keeps refreshing or something before I get to the original comment.
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:54 AM - daniel871: Toro, one other thing you may want to try is giving the Wiki for the printer a read and adjusting the acceleration/etc. settings to the community recommended settings.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:55 AM - daniel871: http://3dprinterwiki.info/wiki/wanhao-duplicator-i3/duplicator-i3-calibration/firmware-settings/
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:57 AM - Toro1966: Not sure Mike. How do I tell?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 9:57 AM - danzca6: kits
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:58 AM - Toro1966: I actually want the kit. I have heard several people get theirs assembled and it arrived with broken parts
Oct 21, 2016 at 9:59 AM - Toro1966: Thanks Daniel. I'll change those when I get home. Links to first print with it above
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:00 AM - Toro1966: It was a terminator. The pieces on the side of the face were brittle and broke off when
    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:00 AM - Toro1966: I removed the supports.
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:00 AM - Mike Kelly: daniel we may be able to get the discount on the assembled, but not sure
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:01 AM - Mike Kelly: and the MK9/10 looks like this: http://wanhaousa.com/pages/mk9-vs-mk10-extruders
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:01 AM - Mike Kelly: most prusa clones use that cause it's cheap
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:02 AM - Geof: Its less than 6 hours to build ot, even with beer :) i didnt spend much time working on it lol
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it's an easy build and their XY calibration routine means you really can't do it wrong
    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: it's pretty stellar
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: anyone wanna buy my MKR1 :)_
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:04 AM - Geof: Lol how much os the mk edition ?
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:04 AM - danzca6: haha...have you done anything new with it?
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:04 AM - Mike Kelly: na it's been sitting stagnant since i moved in
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:04 AM - Mike Kelly: my form2 has been my go-to
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:05 AM - danzca6: yeah, with all the printers at your fingertips now, I can see how it would be forgotten
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:05 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd like to do some more experiments with the cyclops but lately i've been considering just turning it into a direct drive bondtech or maybe titan
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:06 AM - Mike Kelly: i need to get my bigbox to be quieter, that thing is painful loud
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:06 AM - Mike Kelly: not sure what a fair price would be on the MKR1, it's a bit of a science project
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:07 AM - Mike Kelly: not sure i'd sic that on anyone
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:07 AM - danzca6: when is the BB coming back?
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:07 AM - Geof: You can always gift it to me ;)
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:07 AM - Mike Kelly: heh
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:07 AM - Mike Kelly: like back on sale? never
    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:07 AM - danzca6: really? that's too bad
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:08 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:08 AM - danzca6: last I heard they were working an independed x axis
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:08 AM - Mike Kelly: the project is not entirely dead though
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:08 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah they are
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:08 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm trying to get the parts printed and beta tested
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:08 AM - Mike Kelly: need to buy some nema 14 motors
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:09 AM - Mike Kelly: the founder/CTO of ultimaker was at our office yesterday
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:09 AM - Mike Kelly: nice guy
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:10 AM - danzca6: I saw his interview on press reset last night
    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:11 AM - danzca6: he seems like a nice guy
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:11 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:11 AM - Mike Kelly: he was the one who came up with the motion platform
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:11 AM - Mike Kelly: with some input from someone else he knew
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:12 AM - Mike Kelly: really novel ideal
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:12 AM - Mike Kelly: which is obviously being copied with no attribution given *coughr2cough*
    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:13 AM - danzca6: hahaha right
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:13 AM - danzca6: they gave credit for the IR to dave at least

    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:14 AM - Geof: Sooo....didnt back the r2 :D
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:14 AM - danzca6: I wonder how much of the RoboOS is theirs vs open source renaming
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:14 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah no
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:14 AM - Mike Kelly: they're not getting anymore of my money
    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:14 AM - danzca6: nope...have the money now...but no
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:14 AM - Mike Kelly: unless they actually release their source files this time
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:14 AM - Geof: Lol lots of people have that same opinion it seems
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:15 AM - Mike Kelly: they burned me once
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:15 AM - danzca6: took them a month to release sample prints
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:15 AM - Mike Kelly: not going to forgive that
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:15 AM - Mike Kelly: took me like 8 weeks of nagging for them to release their firmwares
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:15 AM - danzca6: maybe someone needs to teach them what open source means
    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:16 AM - danzca6: haha
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:16 AM - Mike Kelly: i wish them the best but they don't have the ethics of a company i'd get behind
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:16 AM - danzca6: If it wasn't for your solid works drawings, I wouldn't have the source to start with modifications
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:16 AM - Mike Kelly: even that took some convincing for me to release
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:17 AM - danzca6: Well...speaking on my behalf and the others I've helped by pointing them to those files....thank you
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:17 AM - Mike Kelly: yup yup
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:17 AM - Geof: any particular reason given why MK?
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:17 AM - Mike Kelly: glad to do it
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:18 AM - Mike Kelly: basically fear someone would copy them
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:18 AM - Mike Kelly: they don't realize that it's the supply chain that's valuable
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:18 AM - Geof: Ah...I suppose thats why the customized ramps and what not that isn't documented.
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:18 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:18 AM - Mike Kelly: that ramps...
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:18 AM - Geof: (on the R1+, I cam ein late in the game)
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:19 AM - danzca6: ok for them to do, but not others
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: so yeah
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:20 AM - Geof: that seems like most companies anymore
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: prusa and Ultimaker are my favs right now
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: both are extremely open source
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:20 AM - Geof: well maybe not most, but alot lol
    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:20 AM - danzca6: and taz
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: i had a falling out with aleph
    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:20 AM - Geof: I hate taz :(
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: their CEO is a piece of work
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:21 AM - Mike Kelly: and those printers are so rickety
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:21 AM - WheresWaldo: I've been lurking , but my opinions on Robo are well known here
    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:21 AM - danzca6: haha...indeed ww
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:21 AM - Mike Kelly: i liked how robo didn't even bother linking their kickstarter on their own forums
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:21 AM - Mike Kelly: shows how much they care
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:21 AM - Geof: I dont have an opinion on them... I have huge respect for this group of individuals though :D. Thats the reason I bought mine.
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:21 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah this community was all that kept me around
    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:22 AM - danzca6: agreed Geof...there isn't a community like this anywhere else
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:22 AM - Geof: nope, even the prusa comm is small and not very active (or at least not this active)
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah their forums could use some love
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:22 AM - Geof: then again...is that because theirs works out the box/build :D lol
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: xenforo ftw
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:22 AM - WheresWaldo: The community here is why I bought, Saw all the stuff people like MK and Mark posted and saw they really had some good ideas.
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:23 AM - Geof: hey waldo what ever happened with their request to use your full graphics set up ?
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:24 AM - WheresWaldo: MK you'll need to reappear after you've played with the UM3 for a while and give us your thoughts.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:24 AM - danzca6: I second that
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:24 AM - WheresWaldo: They thought it was more than it was, they wanted the cheapest way to do custom menus for the educational market,
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:24 AM - Geof: that would be awesome MK. My employer and I are looking at them. I dont like the hotend situation (having to have multiple) but if it works...well thats a whole nother story lol
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:25 AM - Geof: lol thats hilarious WW. Good lord. I did see a few robos come with the lcd attached and the robo lettering offset. I"m guessing for education purposes.
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:26 AM - WheresWaldo: I like UM but the 3 seems more like an incremental improvement, not the next big thing like UM's marketing would have you believe.
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i'll post my thoughts
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: i mean if they can print duals as well as our stratsys we'd buy 10
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: and companies like us is their target market
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:27 AM - Mike Kelly: the sigma could have done it but they still have reliability issues
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:27 AM - Geof: MK shoot me a message if you need help with that sigma :D not that I'm much but I'll darn sure try :D
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:27 AM - WheresWaldo: I cant see how they are going to maintain registration between two extruders. It's not just that it is two, it's that they retract also.
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:27 AM - Mike Kelly: it's hard to reach the reliability of our UM2's
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:27 AM - Geof: I'm getting pretty nice dual prints off that guy... not UM style but still nic eprints
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:28 AM - danzca6: daniel noree might be doing a turorial on designing for dual color at MRRF
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:28 AM - danzca6: that is something that will get bigger now with more printers being offered to do it
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:29 AM - Mike Kelly: thanks for the offer geof, i'll keep that in mind
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:29 AM - Mike Kelly: gonna look around for some thermal paste and try that firs
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:31 AM - Geof: I've had mine printing reliably when i'm not waiting on parts from them. No jams to speak of (I know their coing) but not like what was reported on the first few runs.
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:31 AM - Mike Kelly: apparently it's very material dependant as well
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:31 AM - danzca6: they went open source as well right?
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:31 AM - Mike Kelly: like colorfabb pla/pha is apparently not great on it
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:31 AM - Mike Kelly: BCN? yup
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:32 AM - Mike Kelly: i hope you can read catalan
    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:32 AM - danzca6: haha
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:32 AM - Geof: yea Matt steered me away from colorfabb. extruders choke on it. Colorfilla has been working very well for me. He can get it through designbox
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:32 AM - Mike Kelly: ah
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:32 AM - danzca6: there is always google translate
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:32 AM - Mike Kelly: heh
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:33 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm appartently not worldly enough to know they speak different languages in Barcelona
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:33 AM - Mike Kelly: i wish this fedex truck would show up
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:35 AM - Geof: got something good coming ?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:37 AM - danzca6: UM3
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:40 AM - daniel871: I'm trying to wrap my head around open source and the so-far-published UM3 info.
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:41 AM - Mike Kelly: oh shit it's here
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:41 AM - daniel871: At least they aren't Robo, and the idea of a truly easily swapped hotend is neat, but still.
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:41 AM - Mike Kelly: UM3 will be releasing their source files in a year
    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:41 AM - danzca6: haha....get open that box
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:41 AM - Mike Kelly: you can run the printer in fully open mode
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:41 AM - daniel871: Post a pic of whatever it is!
    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:41 AM - Mike Kelly: k!
    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:42 AM - danzca6: it's a UM3 right
    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:42 AM - daniel871: Prusa MK2 with the quad-extruder kit.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:42 AM - danzca6: no he mentioned a UM3 was coming today
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:44 AM - danzca6: I think the UM3 should have had a filament case for the PVA that could control the humidity and still run through the bowden setup. Kind of like the filament bunker that was in KS
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:46 AM - daniel871: It doesn't even need to be that complicated. Just a compartment that you can close around the spools after getting the feed started would be good enough for 99% of the time.
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:47 AM - daniel871: Also, I can't really pull the trigger on another printer right now, even if it's a really good discount on the MK2.
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:47 AM - danzca6: no your right, not a complicated solution is needed...just an example
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:48 AM - daniel871: I've got the Monoprice and will theoretically have a large build area delta printer before the end of the year.

Oct 21, 2016 at 10:49 AM - danzca6: now you need something with a gantry style and you will have an example of the main 3 designs
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:51 AM - daniel871: A large robotic arm with an extruder on the tip.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:51 AM - daniel871: And a stationary heated bed.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:51 AM - danzca6: haha
    Oct 21, 2016 at 10:51 AM - danzca6: like angus
Oct 21, 2016 at 10:51 AM - danzca6: he has that big robotic arm in the background all the time now

    Oct 21, 2016 at 11:02 AM - daniel871: How about a CNC that doesn't have a Z-axis? http://www.maslowcnc.com/
    Oct 21, 2016 at 11:02 AM - daniel871: 4' x 8' work area though.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 11:02 AM - daniel871: (only being slightly sarcastic)
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:09 AM - Geof: hey danz with all that extra money what ya gonna buy me
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:19 AM - danzca6: I'm looking at maybe going for the CO2 laser I have had my eye on
    Oct 21, 2016 at 11:24 AM - Geof: sweet!
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:26 AM - danzca6: that or lego set 10179...haven't made up my mind just yet :)
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:28 AM - danzca6: It's the kid in me....would love to put that together with my kids
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:37 AM - danzca6: Big DDOS attach on east coast websites
    Oct 21, 2016 at 11:39 AM - daniel871: Yeah.
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:39 AM - Geof: hey man, nothing wrong with legos. I print a but load of them for my nephews and nieces cuz I'm to broke to afford them :D lol
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:40 AM - danzca6: says the man with a room full of printers
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:40 AM - Geof: lol ok ok ok...I'm not going to buy them when I can make them haha
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:41 AM - danzca6: well...took one last chance on Twitter to win the C2...My luck has just been way to good today not to try
    Oct 21, 2016 at 11:41 AM - danzca6: of course now they are saying C2 or R2
    Oct 21, 2016 at 11:41 AM - danzca6: so ... maybe
    Oct 21, 2016 at 11:42 AM - Geof: mk2 is a better lottery :D Guaranteed to be awesome :D
    Oct 21, 2016 at 11:43 AM - danzca6: is there a contest for an Mk2?
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:44 AM - Geof: nope lol but they work! not so sure I believe the C2 is ready.
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:45 AM - Geof: I'd love to get one like Harry said....but I'm not going to hold my breath.
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:45 AM - danzca6: yeah...I'd take one, but not sure I would buy one
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:46 AM - danzca6: man, the main robo page is not loading...wonder if they are part of the sites hit by this DDOS
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:47 AM - WheresWaldo: I just want to see the R2 firmware. I think, if Robo didn't do something stupid, we could make it work on the R1+
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:47 AM - danzca6: where did you see that
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:48 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, who are you asking and what is the question?
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:49 AM - Geof: waldo I thnk your RC firmwares are probably a better fit :D.
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:49 AM - danzca6: oh...sorry...I thought you said you just went to see not want to see
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:50 AM - WheresWaldo: I just would like to see their Python code for the touchscreen
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:50 AM - danzca6: yeah that would be good
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:50 AM - WheresWaldo: I wouldn't mind putting my rPi inside my Robo.
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:51 AM - Geof: you think or ramps and arduino have enough to run a touch screen?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 11:51 AM - danzca6: mmmmmm....pi
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:52 AM - WheresWaldo: Geof, they aren't using the Arduino or RAMPS board to run the touchscreen, I am pretty sure they are using Octoprint as the front end with an app to control the touchscreen.
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:52 AM - WheresWaldo: I am pretty sure the touchscreen is directly controlled by the rPi.
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:53 AM - Geof: Ah gotya.
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:55 AM - WheresWaldo: If they are true to their word and put the code up on GITHUB we can basically build the same interface for the R1 for about $50.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 11:55 AM - Geof: Not bad !
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:55 AM - Geof: You think they will? They havent been much for documentation
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:56 AM - WheresWaldo: $35 for rPi, $10-12 Touchscreen, enough filament to print a case and mount.
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:56 AM - WheresWaldo: Their last kickstarter update mentioned GITHUB
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:57 AM - danzca6: Baaha...sorry...I tried holding my breath longer but ... just could do it ;)
Oct 21, 2016 at 11:59 AM - WheresWaldo: Direct quote "Our source code will be hosted on Github for you to modify if you wish."
Oct 21, 2016 at 12:00 PM - WheresWaldo: They are building the interface on top of Octoprint, they will need to release the source if asked.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 12:00 PM - danzca6: yeah I saw that...just didn't say when
Oct 21, 2016 at 12:01 PM - WheresWaldo: Another quote "Around Octoprint we designed RoboOS ..."
Oct 21, 2016 at 12:03 PM - WheresWaldo: Dan, did you notice they also switched to Fusion 360. I think they lurk on the forum to figure out what works then claim it for themselves.
Oct 21, 2016 at 12:05 PM - Geof: Lol in the shadows
Oct 21, 2016 at 12:07 PM - Mike Kelly: fyi, the UM3 is pretty spectacular
Oct 21, 2016 at 12:08 PM - Mike Kelly: can't say if it's worth the money but it's a step up
Oct 21, 2016 at 12:08 PM - danzca6: I saw that...I hate it when printer manufactures "throw in" a free year of Fusion 360. 90% of consumers apply for student or hobbyist free
    Oct 21, 2016 at 12:08 PM - danzca6: Nice
Oct 21, 2016 at 12:09 PM - danzca6: what is going to be the first print? Something with a bunch of pva support
Oct 21, 2016 at 12:09 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
    Oct 21, 2016 at 12:09 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:277119/#files
Oct 21, 2016 at 12:09 PM - Mike Kelly: this looks hard to print
Oct 21, 2016 at 12:10 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm open to suggestions though
    Oct 21, 2016 at 12:10 PM - danzca6: that looks like a good one
Oct 21, 2016 at 12:13 PM - WheresWaldo: Why not something that requires a bit of precision, like this http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1624844
Oct 21, 2016 at 12:14 PM - Mike Kelly: but that's not a print in place thing is it?
Oct 21, 2016 at 12:15 PM - WheresWaldo: No I don't think so, there are always the Gyro models.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 12:16 PM - WheresWaldo: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:581233
Oct 21, 2016 at 12:16 PM - WheresWaldo: As an example
Oct 21, 2016 at 1:09 PM - daniel871: This looks like an interesting object for dual printing. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:824598
Oct 21, 2016 at 1:12 PM - danzca6: didn't josef have a 2 color option as well as the 4? Not sure I want to order the 4 color.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 1:18 PM - Toro1966: Yes he did. It's 199 and the 4 color is 249
    Oct 21, 2016 at 1:22 PM - danzca6: eh...for $50 why not go with 4
Oct 21, 2016 at 1:23 PM - danzca6: I don't see the 2 option at the moment anyway. I will probably wait until after I get the printer assembled. With the lead time it might be thanksgiving by the time we get it
Oct 21, 2016 at 1:25 PM - Toro1966: Click on the quad material option - then you'll see a drop down.
Oct 21, 2016 at 1:26 PM - Toro1966: That's what I was thinking too, probably a month before we get the printer.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 1:27 PM - danzca6: I can wait
    Oct 21, 2016 at 1:27 PM - danzca6: maybe
Oct 21, 2016 at 1:38 PM - Toro1966: Lol - me too. I might just bite the bullet and get the 4 material. I am going to wait until atleast we have an idea of the wait time before we get the MK2
Oct 21, 2016 at 1:39 PM - Toro1966: Did you see e the pics I posted earlier of the temrinator?
Oct 21, 2016 at 1:40 PM - Toro1966: Other than fact that it is brittle - which might be my filament
Oct 21, 2016 at 1:58 PM - daniel871: I did not see the pics. If it's the same Terminator model I printed, that's just a brittle model. I'd do some bridging calibration prints and then re-print that model without supports.

Oct 21, 2016 at 2:24 PM - Toro1966: Is there an easy way to switch between two printer types in S3D without having to go back into configuration assistant each time?
Oct 21, 2016 at 2:39 PM - danzca6: Hmm, just saw a guy in VA is selling a brand new in box r1+ for $400
    Oct 21, 2016 at 2:40 PM - danzca6: He just bought an mk2
    Oct 21, 2016 at 2:42 PM - Toro1966: Where?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 2:42 PM - Toro1966: Link?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 2:42 PM - Toro1966: Also - having problems with M esh
Oct 21, 2016 at 2:45 PM - Toro1966: Here's my start script. Leveled with the mesh, but when it starts printing nothing extrudes - too close to the bed I am pretty sure.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 2:45 PM - Toro1966: G28 ; home all axes G1 Z5 F5000 ; lift nozzle M109 S[extruder0_temperature] ; set the extruder temp and wait G1 X20 Z0 F4800 ; wipe
Oct 21, 2016 at 2:54 PM - Toro1966: Can someone with mesh shoot me their S3D start script?
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:10 PM - danzca6: When you sent a G29 while hooked up through USB it confirmed you had MESH
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:10 PM - danzca6: Also, sorry...I was picking up my daughter at school. It was a twitter follower
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:11 PM - danzca6: if you are using twitter I can send you his handle
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:11 PM - Toro1966: No worries Dan - haven't tried to send G29 through USB. Ran the leveling on the lcd and then printed with the above startup code in S3D

Oct 21, 2016 at 3:11 PM - danzca6: and the terminator is awesome
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:11 PM - danzca6: Do the G29 to make sure it saved
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:12 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Dan - wish it didn't break the little pieces when I removed the supprots but I am hoping it was just bad filament. printing with PETG now.
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:12 PM - danzca6: model or super glue work well
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:12 PM - Toro1966: It came back with Mesh Bed Leveling not Active
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:13 PM - danzca6: well there is a start
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:13 PM - Toro1966: How do I fix that LCD said it saved.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:18 PM - danzca6: ok
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:18 PM - Toro1966: Do I need to run the routine again?
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:18 PM - danzca6: once you are done, I think you need to send M500 to save it
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:19 PM - danzca6: at least that is a response I saw when someone had a similar issue
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:19 PM - Toro1966: So what is the order? I have the printer hooked up to the computer and am looking at the comms in S3D. Do I need to rerun the leveling?
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:20 PM - danzca6: I would rerun leveling just to make sure using the LCD. When done send the M500 and then send G29 to make sure it is active
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:20 PM - danzca6: I know...pitb
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:22 PM - Toro1966: ok - in progress.
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:23 PM - danzca6: just got my controller kit...so now i have a full lcd to play with
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:24 PM - Toro1966: pics?
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:25 PM - Toro1966: Oh - you mean the full graphics controllwe instead of the xxl
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:27 PM - danzca6: right
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:27 PM - danzca6: it is the full kit so it comes with the arduino, ramps, drivers, wiring, and full lcd
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:29 PM - danzca6: I'll see which I like better, XXL or Full
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:31 PM - Toro1966: Nice - going to buy one next week. Want to eventually upgrade the ramps to the standard ramps
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:31 PM - Toro1966: Ok - looked like it saved. Getting ready for test print
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:32 PM - danzca6: it says it is active now?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:32 PM - Toro1966: Yep - gave me the summary and said z offset 0. I will say Dan - for $300 - this i3 prints pretty good. A little bit of a
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:33 PM - Toro1966: A little bit of a PITA to level and you have to level while you are doing your first layer, but still pretty good.
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:34 PM - Toro1966: Ironically my repalcement i3 came in the mail today as well -lol
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:34 PM - Toro1966: It's still boxed up. I'l unpack it and give it a go this weekend
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:34 PM - Toro1966: Is there a good way to switch back and forth between priunter types in S3D
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:35 PM - danzca6: ah, didn't Rich go over that in one of his videos
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:35 PM - danzca6: I'm such a noob
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:36 PM - Toro1966: I didn't see it, but I am going to go back and check now - lol. Ok - so a little filament is coming out, but still too close. I am going to rre-level. I think I tried to get it too close. I had to tug quite a bit on the paper. It should move fairly smoothly - correct?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:38 PM - danzca6: just snug
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:38 PM - danzca6: light drag
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:38 PM - Toro1966: OK - I'll try again. I might need to add an offset.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:38 PM - Toro1966: There is a way to do that - correct?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:39 PM - Toro1966: Round 3 coming up....
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:39 PM - danzca6: READY? Fight!
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:39 PM - danzca6: shouldn't need it, but I believe so
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:40 PM - danzca6: "Re-enter you Z axis offset, if needed, using G29 S4 Zn.nn where n.nn is a positive number to move further from the bed and negative to move closer"
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:40 PM - danzca6: that is optional from the post WW did
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:47 PM - Toro1966: Do you have your start script?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:53 PM - danzca6: yours looks right
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:53 PM - danzca6: is it still printing too close?
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:53 PM - WheresWaldo: Hey guys
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:54 PM - danzca6: hey welcome back WW
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:54 PM - danzca6: Toro is getting Mesh setup on the Robo
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:54 PM - danzca6: so, just in time
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:55 PM - WheresWaldo: What did I miss?
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:55 PM - danzca6: Still waiting to hear back on round 3 results
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:55 PM - WheresWaldo: I see, I use an offset now with MESH, but that is because I am too lazy to redo the MESH.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:56 PM - danzca6: haha...
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:56 PM - danzca6: he ran into the issue where the LCD mesh setup told him it saved but G29 came back inactive. So he did it again and did the M500 and it came back active
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:56 PM - danzca6: so the LCD lies
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:56 PM - Toro1966: Just finished leveling round 3 and getting ready to run a test print. The first two times it was too close to the bed. But I think it's because I had to tug on the paper quite a bit.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:57 PM - Toro1966: Yep - I had to hit M500 or it didn't work
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:57 PM - WheresWaldo: The paper needs to slide around easily
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:58 PM - danzca6: did you use a business card stock or a sheet of laser paper?
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:58 PM - WheresWaldo: You need to feel drag on it but it should slide. Thinner paper works better also, but with the ability to use an offset, you could level it with a piece of cardboard too.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 3:59 PM - danzca6: ok that is true
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:59 PM - WheresWaldo: I used a piece of waxed paper, like the backing of a sticker.
Oct 21, 2016 at 3:59 PM - danzca6: WW, you getting one of the group buys for the MK2?
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:00 PM - Mike Kelly: heh
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:00 PM - WheresWaldo: Nope, would rather save my pennies and get a UM2 at a discount. No more sliding beds for me.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:00 PM - Toro1966: Wax paper is a great idea. Think I'll use that next time. Great success. I only printed something in the middle, not the corners, but the first layer went down - with no hair srpay.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:01 PM - Mike Kelly: if you want speed the UM2 is the way to go
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:01 PM - Toro1966: They still slide - they just slide vertically :)
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:01 PM - danzca6: 2 or 3
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:01 PM - danzca6: or both...haha
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:01 PM - Mike Kelly: 3 is more if you're printing engineering prototypes
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:01 PM - Toro1966: Printing this frog with no hairspray. Let's see how far I get...
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:02 PM - danzca6: How are the LEDs on the UM3? They seem dimmer than the UM2
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:02 PM - WheresWaldo: I could always rebuilt my Eustathios, I had to use some of the parts so it isn't running , but I ordered new stuff and just waiting on it now.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:02 PM - Mike Kelly: also hey
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:02 PM - Mike Kelly: oh man they are way brighter
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:02 PM - Toro1966: Would love one, but just don't have the scratch. Maybe I should retire and start my own youtube channel so someone can give me one :)
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:02 PM - Mike Kelly: let me upload my unboxing images
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:02 PM - danzca6: good to hear, they just seemed dimmer on some online pics I have seen
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:02 PM - Toro1966: Awsome Mike - would love to see the pics.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:03 PM - Mike Kelly: i have it printing that crazy gyroid
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:03 PM - Toro1966: So both the Robo and i3 are going now. Maybe I'll hook up the other i3 so I have all three going at the same time :)
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:03 PM - danzca6: find your niche and start the YT channel Toro
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:03 PM - WheresWaldo: Toro, your electric bill must be outrageous.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:04 PM - danzca6: the one WW linked to Mike
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:04 PM - Toro1966: Think I need to do that. I think what's missing is a total noob channel.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:04 PM - danzca6: haha
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:04 PM - Toro1966: All of the guys now - are very good - but assume some knowledge. That is great except when you are starting out. At least that's my two cents :)
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:05 PM - danzca6: I have a Kill A Watt meter to measure your electricity usage...curious what the Robo sucks up
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:05 PM - Mike Kelly: ~160W i'd bet
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:05 PM - Mike Kelly: during normal usage
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:05 PM - WheresWaldo: I am beginning to hate being in the Fast track of Microsoft's Insider Program
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:06 PM - WheresWaldo: I have a Kill-A-Watt too, but it is hooked up to my always on XBOne. Maybe I should move it.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:06 PM - Toro1966: Lol. Hey Waldo - The change filament is not in the new RC bugfix. Can that be de-commented?
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:07 PM - WheresWaldo: Maybe, there was talk in the thread. It seemed to be more involved than just enabling one line.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:08 PM - Toro1966: Guess I'll have to do it manually - lol.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:08 PM - danzca6: yes, just one line to uncomment
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:08 PM - Toro1966: But does it work Dan?
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:08 PM - Toro1966: Have you tried it - oh guinea pig of ours?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:08 PM - danzca6: well...that I have not tested, but in theory ;)
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:09 PM - Toro1966: Which tab is it under? Hey Dan - where was that 400 robo in va you mentioned?

Oct 21, 2016 at 4:09 PM - danzca6: you can define the X Y point and the Z lift along with others if you want
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:09 PM - danzca6: hold on...it was on a twitter follower of mine
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:10 PM - WheresWaldo: Dan is the man!
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:11 PM - Toro1966: Dan the man levitan!
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:11 PM - WheresWaldo: The more I use 1.1.0 the more I like it.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:11 PM - Toro1966: I am on my first time and I am liking it!
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:12 PM - Toro1966: Whatever number this bug fix is :)

Oct 21, 2016 at 4:12 PM - Toro1966: This frog is coming out damn nice. No hair srpay, no leveling.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:12 PM - danzca6: Good morning Vietnam references...awesome!
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:12 PM - WheresWaldo: The latest bug fix has a lot of changes in the planner routines. A lot of code adapted from Josef Prusa.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:13 PM - Toro1966: I don't twitter. Lol. Does he have an email address?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:14 PM - danzca6: I can ask him
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:14 PM - WheresWaldo: Firestick, why oh why!
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:14 PM - Toro1966: That would be great - or give him mine. I'll pm it to you. Would love to know wher ehe is.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:14 PM - danzca6: Line 619 in Configuration_adv.h in the newest 1.1.0 MESH files
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:14 PM - Toro1966: If it's close, I am interested
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:15 PM - Toro1966: Lol - I forgot I already pm'd you my address
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:15 PM - WheresWaldo: Should I just enable it in my set of files for 10-31?
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:15 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Dan - I might test that out this weekend.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:15 PM - Toro1966: That would be great Waldo!
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:15 PM - Toro1966: When you update the firmware - do you have to re-level again?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:15 PM - Toro1966: I assume so.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:16 PM - danzca6: I messaged him
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:16 PM - Toro1966: Thanks brother!
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:16 PM - danzca6: If I lived in VA I would be interested for $400...not a bad price
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:16 PM - WheresWaldo: I didn't.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:17 PM - Toro1966: That's a crap ton of ultimakers Mike!
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:17 PM - danzca6: did I miss the link to the pics
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:18 PM - WheresWaldo: Unless they actually change the MESH math or the EEPROM format, you can probably get away without redoing MESH.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:18 PM - danzca6: yeah, just do a G29 and it should show still active right
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:18 PM - WheresWaldo: Worst case, you might need to change the offset.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:19 PM - WheresWaldo: As far as I can remember, if it was enabled and you reflash it is still enabled.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:20 PM - danzca6: Toro...If my line number is off, do a search for #define FILAMENT_CHANGE_FEATURE
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:22 PM - Toro1966: Will do Dan

    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:22 PM - danzca6: ha...even a test print
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:22 PM - Toro1966: Exceelnt - thanks Waldo.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:23 PM - Mike Kelly: needs some more edits but you can see the pics
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:23 PM - danzca6: are those rolls 1Kg
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:23 PM - Mike Kelly: na like 300g
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:24 PM - danzca6: now...ok...the UM just has a power brick that is 24V...why can't we have that for the Robo
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:24 PM - danzca6: So much quieter without the PSU
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:24 PM - Mike Kelly: 19v for you!
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:24 PM - Mike Kelly: 24v is the obvious choice
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:25 PM - danzca6: I have a DuetWifi board that is 24V and looking at getting the Duex2 that give 12V for fans and LEDs...so I would love that
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:26 PM - danzca6: not sure if the Duet will go perm on the Robo or for my homebrew I am planning
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:27 PM - danzca6: that is a pretty well built machine. thanks for the pics
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:27 PM - WheresWaldo: Dan I can't find the Filament line in Configuration.h in the newest RCBugFix
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:28 PM - danzca6: it's in configuration_adv.h
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:28 PM - WheresWaldo: Just found it, thanks. So even with the Full Graphics LCD just change the one line?
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:28 PM - danzca6: I compared it to the robo flavor of Marlin and it all looks similar...the 1.1.0 is better
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:28 PM - danzca6: yep
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:29 PM - danzca6: The Ultipanel is set even for the full, but in a backdoor way
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:29 PM - WheresWaldo: I will add it to the next version I release.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:30 PM - danzca6: awesome!
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:31 PM - WheresWaldo: Verifying it will compile now.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:31 PM - danzca6: yeah, the REPRAP_DISCOUNT_SMART_CONTROLLER gets enabled under the REPRAP_DISCOUNT_FULL_GRAPHIC_SMART_CONTROLLER setup in conditionals.h and then that sets it up for the next if statement that enables ULTIPANEL
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:32 PM - danzca6: seems odd to have it that way, but if it works
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:32 PM - WheresWaldo: There is a lot of stuff like that, It's one reason I don't trust the Robo guys not to mess up any firmware they touch.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:33 PM - Toro1966: SO my frog didn't finish because it lifted. No biggie - I didn't have any hairspray. However, I sprayed and now trying to print it again and it is too far from bed. Not squished down as it should be. NIt was the first time I printed after mesh leveling but not now. Mesh is still active. WTF?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:33 PM - danzca6: It's a jenga game for sure
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:33 PM - WheresWaldo: It does verify using Marlin 1.6.12
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:33 PM - Toro1966: Thoughts>?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:33 PM - danzca6: let me check WW
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:33 PM - WheresWaldo: Toro what version?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:34 PM - danzca6: I'm using 1.6.8 and it verified...let me download 12 and see what is hosed
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:35 PM - WheresWaldo: Toro, I had that happen to me before but I can't remember what fixed it. Are you using my files from Oct 15th?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:35 PM - Toro1966: RCBF_MESH_PLUS_10-15 i
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:35 PM - Toro1966: Yep. Looks like it.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:36 PM - Toro1966: Again - the first print laid down great, now it's definitely not close enough
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:36 PM - WheresWaldo: Make sure your extruder was clean when you re started the print. It should have homed again.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:37 PM - WheresWaldo: Don't put the offset in your startup code.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:38 PM - Toro1966: I don't have any offset in the startup code. Extrduer was clean. Printing exact same print that worked fine the first time.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:39 PM - Toro1966: It seems to be going to the same spot, just not low enough.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:40 PM - Toro1966: It does re-home, but again, too high
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:40 PM - danzca6: WW verify was success with 12 as well
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:40 PM - Toro1966: Should I try putting the G29 in?
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:40 PM - Toro1966: Not sure why it won't work as is though.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:41 PM - danzca6: you had issues where your Z offset would change print to print with ABL as well correct
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:41 PM - WheresWaldo: Does you Z Axis switch fully disengage at different heights?
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:43 PM - Toro1966: Affirm Dan. I did have that issue. Waldo - pretty sure yes, but how do I check?
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:43 PM - Toro1966: If I manually lift the x axis, it does disengage from the z switches
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:45 PM - Toro1966: With MEsh - it seems to be the same height every time, just the wrong height. I have tried printing 4 times now and each time is just too high - i get thin lines and not squichsed lines
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:46 PM - WheresWaldo: Move the extruder to the middle of the bed, about where Z is homed and issue this command: M48 P8 X110 Y120
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:46 PM - Toro1966: Ok - just a sec.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:46 PM - WheresWaldo: I think I enabled the probe repeatability #define.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:47 PM - danzca6: Z_MIN_PROBE_REPEATABILITY_TEST is not enabled in 10/15 copy
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:48 PM - Toro1966: I don't have to lower it down to the bed -correct - just center it on the bed?
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:48 PM - WheresWaldo: Hmm, it is just a single line. I will make sure it is enabled on Oct 31.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:48 PM - danzca6: spooky
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:48 PM - Toro1966: What does that do?
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:49 PM - Toro1966: I entered the command, it did nothing.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:49 PM - WheresWaldo: If enabled it moved the extruder to the Z Min 8 times and displays a little chart in terminal mode that shows how repeatable the measurement is.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:50 PM - WheresWaldo: Dan already told me I didn't enable it.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:50 PM - Toro1966: I can enable and recompile if it is only one line. Where is it?
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:50 PM - danzca6: it is in configuration.h if you want to enable it
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:50 PM - Toro1966: Yep - 2-3 minutes

    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:52 PM - Toro1966: Got it - compiling now
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:53 PM - Toro1966: Do I need to do an M502 and M500?
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:53 PM - danzca6: WW did you change anything else when doing the filament change define? I am still able to compile with version 12
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:53 PM - Toro1966: Do I need to do an M502 and M500?
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:53 PM - WheresWaldo: Yes and Yes
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:54 PM - WheresWaldo: Dan I was able to compile
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:54 PM - danzca6: ok good
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:54 PM - WheresWaldo: I've been using 1.6.12 since it was released.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:55 PM - danzca6: I just updated so we are on the same page now...I normally don't update unless needed
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:55 PM - Toro1966: Ok - I can confirm if you recompile and upload you have to REDO the MESH....I just uplaoded, hit M502, and then M500 and then G29, Mesh is not active...but it was before I reuploaded.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:55 PM - danzca6: I was afraid of that...
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:56 PM - danzca6: you're going to be really good at paper leveling
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:56 PM - Toro1966: So I am going for a quick run and then I am going to try again....I'll use wax paper this time.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:56 PM - WheresWaldo: I like being on the bleeding edge, That's why I use RCBugFix and my Windows build is 14951
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:56 PM - Toro1966: It is thinner so presumably should be closer to the bed.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:56 PM - WheresWaldo: And less offset if any at all.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:56 PM - danzca6: brb...need to get some dinner for my son and I
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:57 PM - WheresWaldo: Don't drop the extruder tight to the paper either, let it slide
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:57 PM - Toro1966: I didn't use a G29 offset with the Mesh. Should I have? Or is that just a way to tehcnically "cheat"
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:57 PM - Toro1966: That's what I did this last time and it worked GREAT...the FIRST print. All others sucked.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:57 PM - WheresWaldo: An adjustment if needed.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 4:57 PM - Toro1966: That's what concerns me.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:58 PM - Toro1966: The frist print it pushed down nicely, every other one, was too high.
Oct 21, 2016 at 4:58 PM - WheresWaldo: I think I adjusted on the second print and then haven't had to adjust at all after that. I will try and test it again tomorrow. My printer is no where near my computer.
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:00 PM - Toro1966: When you say adjusted - do you mean with the G29?
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:01 PM - Toro1966: And if so - where does it go and what is a good value to start with - given that negative is now negative.
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:02 PM - WheresWaldo: Any line after the G28
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:02 PM - WheresWaldo: To adjust you need to do that from terminal mode then save memory afterwards
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:03 PM - Toro1966: Hmm. So what do you actually enter in terminal to adjust?
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:05 PM - Toro1966: A little confused. I get the Level procedure with paper, then M500, then G29 to confirm mesh is active. As far as the adjustment you are speaking of, I am not sure how to do that.
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:06 PM - WheresWaldo: Here is what I did. I built a model that was .25 high and about 25 mm square. I printed it then measured it if I was around .25 mm then I was okay, if it was around .2 or less then I did a G29 S4 Zn.nn
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:07 PM - Toro1966: you did that from terminal? While it was prinitng or before the netx print?
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:07 PM - WheresWaldo: I normally use .25mm layers, if you normally use .2 then build your model .4 high
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:08 PM - WheresWaldo: Follow along. after performing the MESH routine, I tested it with a specific model. The model was only 1 layer or two layers tall.
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:09 PM - WheresWaldo: Then I pulled it off the bed and measured it. If it was too tall I needed to offset closer to the bed, if it was too short I offset it farther from the bed.
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:09 PM - Toro1966: Ok - got it, I think. Then you entered G29 and tried again?
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:09 PM - Toro1966: When you got it right, then you put in starttup script instead of eeprom?
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:10 PM - WheresWaldo: I don't use offset to "squish" the first layer, I use first layer extrusion multiplier.
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:10 PM - WheresWaldo: I put as much as I can in EEPROM, My startup script does not contain any information about measurements
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:10 PM - Toro1966: Ok so once your G29 was good to go, you hit M500 to save it.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 5:11 PM - WheresWaldo: Yes
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:11 PM - Toro1966: How would extrusion multiplier squish the first layer?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 5:11 PM - WheresWaldo: the specific G29 S4 Zn.nn
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:12 PM - WheresWaldo: If you are at a fixed height and try to push more filament it will squish it, you see.
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:12 PM - Toro1966: Sorry for all the noob questions. So that G29 code is the extrusion multiplier for the first layer?
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:12 PM - Toro1966: You are probably beating your head right now
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:12 PM - WheresWaldo: No don't worry about Extrusion yet.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 5:12 PM - Toro1966: That makes sense.
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:13 PM - WheresWaldo: It's all about measurements right now. You set G29 and use MESH to make sure the layer is at the correct height, nothing else.
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:13 PM - Toro1966: So I will relevel, and see how it goes. If it goes well I do nothing. if not, I have to creat a model .2 or .4 mm high and print it and measure it. BAsed on that I use G29 and reprint and remeasure. Once it's right I save in eeprom with M500 and print away.
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:13 PM - WheresWaldo: This is a much better way than moving the offset closer to get better adhesion.
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:14 PM - WheresWaldo: Yes, basically. Once the height is correct then you can mess with extruding enough plastic to get good adhesion to the bed.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 5:15 PM - WheresWaldo: So it's MESH first
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:15 PM - Toro1966: ok - thanks. Now I have to figure out how to make a model lol. I have been printing others but never made one of my own.
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:15 PM - WheresWaldo: Then print a test layer or two and measure it for accuracy of height
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:15 PM - Toro1966: How hard can it be!
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:15 PM - WheresWaldo: WHat app are you using?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 5:16 PM - Toro1966: I have fusion 360 I think.
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:16 PM - WheresWaldo: Just use one of Fusion's primitives.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 5:17 PM - Toro1966: Is that s tored model?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 5:17 PM - Toro1966: I have Fusion 360...never really used it - :)
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:17 PM - WheresWaldo: In the create menu choose box
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:17 PM - Toro1966: Sorry - been a learning curve the last couple of months
    Oct 21, 2016 at 5:17 PM - Toro1966: Got it.
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:18 PM - Toro1966: Can I make it a mm high - or should I only do one or two layers?
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:18 PM - WheresWaldo: Click on a plane to create the base and then click and drag until the box is 25 x 25
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:18 PM - Toro1966: Just thinking it would be easier to get off the bed.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 5:19 PM - Toro1966: Ok
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:19 PM - WheresWaldo: If it is 1 mm you just have to wait longer printing it, It is perfectly fine at 1 mm.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 5:19 PM - Toro1966: Thanks.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 5:20 PM - WheresWaldo: Click Okay and you will have a box that is 25 x 25 x 1.
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:20 PM - Toro1966: excellent. So it automatically makes it 1 high?
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:20 PM - WheresWaldo: Right click on the line that says (Unsaved) or the title of the model if you saved it.
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:20 PM - WheresWaldo: Click on save as STL
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:21 PM - Toro1966: Well that is easy enough!
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:21 PM - WheresWaldo: Refinement for this test object can be set to low
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:21 PM - WheresWaldo: Low would be less triangles
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:21 PM - WheresWaldo: and faster slicing
    Oct 21, 2016 at 5:22 PM - Toro1966: Faster is better!
    Oct 21, 2016 at 5:22 PM - WheresWaldo: Do you use Simplify3D?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 5:25 PM - Toro1966: Yes I do
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:25 PM - Toro1966: Sorry - trying to get this box to save. Plus it looks like the edges are rounded for some reason.
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:27 PM - WheresWaldo: from Fusion?
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:29 PM - WheresWaldo: Need to reboot my PC, be back in a jiffy.
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:29 PM - Toro1966: Yes - won't let me save as stl unless I donwload autodesk print utility or meshmixer
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:32 PM - Toro1966: Ok - that's not working for some reason. I am sure operator error. I am headed for a run and then I'll be back in a bit. I'll try and hit you up later or tomorrow Waldo. Thanks for all the help!
Oct 21, 2016 at 5:59 PM - Geof: Toro click on 3D print, uncheck send to print studio. Then twill let you save file
    Oct 21, 2016 at 6:29 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Geof! I gave up - had my 17 year old do it :)
Oct 21, 2016 at 6:29 PM - Toro1966: Kids have to be good for somehitng
Oct 21, 2016 at 6:29 PM - danzca6: Toro... You should be getting an email about the r1+
Oct 21, 2016 at 6:30 PM - danzca6: Hope it works out for you
    Oct 21, 2016 at 7:08 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Dan. I told him I would take it.
Oct 21, 2016 at 7:08 PM - Toro1966: He's about two hours away but the price is right.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 7:13 PM - danzca6: Awesome... Glad I mentioned it then
    Oct 21, 2016 at 7:13 PM - danzca6: He seems like a real nice guy a well
Oct 21, 2016 at 7:14 PM - danzca6: He just got the mk2 kit to put together with his kids
Oct 21, 2016 at 7:17 PM - Toro1966: Nice. He says he opened the box and looked at the printer but the plastic is still on it.
Oct 21, 2016 at 7:18 PM - Toro1966: He bought it about a month ago from Best Buy.

Oct 21, 2016 at 7:18 PM - Toro1966: What the hell am I going to do with four printers?
    Oct 21, 2016 at 7:18 PM - danzca6: Ask Geof
Oct 21, 2016 at 7:19 PM - danzca6: He's got his farm working for him... You may need to open a hub
Oct 21, 2016 at 7:19 PM - daniel871: Throw the Robos in the trash when they break and use the ones that still work going forward.
Oct 21, 2016 at 7:20 PM - Toro1966: Lol. I know they're not your fav Dan but they really do work well with some love
Oct 21, 2016 at 7:23 PM - daniel871: I would probably like them a whole lot more if the warranty was half as good as the Monoprice. Warranty.
Oct 21, 2016 at 7:24 PM - Toro1966: I know what you mean but I have always had pretty good response with their warranty
Oct 21, 2016 at 7:25 PM - daniel871: Oh wait, keep the extra Robos unused and just rob them for parts when the original messes up and use the extra robos warranties to keep a stock of parts while you wait on the ridiculous ship times.
Oct 21, 2016 at 7:26 PM - danzca6: They've taken good care of me as well no complaints
Oct 21, 2016 at 7:28 PM - daniel871: I got soured on them in a hurry when that whole debacle with the shattering glass beds was going on in the early part of 2015.
Oct 21, 2016 at 7:30 PM - daniel871: A bunch of people were having their glass beds shatter while cooling after a print, get told that wasnt covered by the warranty as that just covered shipping, then having to buy a replacement bed/wait 3 months for said replacement to ship, if it was even in stock to buy.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 7:31 PM - Toro1966: That sucks. Luckily I haven't had that issue.
Oct 21, 2016 at 7:31 PM - danzca6: Yeah they were thinner then I think
Oct 21, 2016 at 7:32 PM - daniel871: Oh, they quietly fixed the issue and later batches didnt have the problem. Its the warranty denial that pissed me off.
Oct 21, 2016 at 7:33 PM - Toro1966: Well guys time for bed. Will talk to you tomorrow got to hit that mesh setup again tomorrow
    Oct 21, 2016 at 7:33 PM - danzca6: Take care
Oct 21, 2016 at 7:35 PM - daniel871: I kind of want to build the MPCNC, but would like scale it up somehow.
    Oct 21, 2016 at 7:37 PM - daniel871: I have a 5x10 table that I'd like to have a build on for carving things out of 4 x 8 sheets of material.
Oct 21, 2016 at 7:38 PM - daniel871: That MaslowCNC thing would be great if it had a Z axis.

Oct 22, 2016 3:08 AM - danzca6: Great video...if you need to replace the leadscrew integrated into the stepper 17. Think if yours is bent, too short, or a different pitch...
    Oct 22, 2016 5:51 AM - Toro1966: Morning Dan
    Oct 22, 2016 5:51 AM - danzca6: Morning

Oct 22, 2016 5:52 AM - Bill Monroe: Hey Dan.. howzit in your world?
    Oct 22, 2016 5:53 AM - danzca6: Good... Couldn't sleep, but oh well
Oct 22, 2016 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe: isnt it daylight now where you are?

    Oct 22, 2016 5:55 AM - danzca6: Yeah it isn't too bad
    Oct 22, 2016 5:55 AM - danzca6: Unlike 2.0 I have lots of insulation though
Oct 22, 2016 5:56 AM - Bill Monroe: heh we have it too but its to keep the heat OUT! :)
Oct 22, 2016 5:56 AM - Bill Monroe: we finished staking the firewood yesterday... 11 cords
    Oct 22, 2016 5:57 AM - danzca6: Good grief. I don't even have that much yet
    Oct 22, 2016 5:57 AM - Bill Monroe: it's 2.0's usual winter requirement )
    Oct 22, 2016 5:58 AM - danzca6: Did you ever get a laser cutter?
Oct 22, 2016 5:59 AM - Bill Monroe: no.. been busy with the mill and upgrading the plane
Oct 22, 2016 5:59 AM - Bill Monroe: Now i think I might make an attachment for the mill to hold a laser on the quill
Oct 22, 2016 6:00 AM - danzca6: Would it be powerful enough to cut or just etching
    Oct 22, 2016 6:01 AM - danzca6: I'm looking at an 80 watt co2
Oct 22, 2016 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: just to engrave... something that will etch though anodizing
    Oct 22, 2016 6:01 AM - danzca6: Might need a fiber laser for that
Oct 22, 2016 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: i dont really like laser cut stuff
Oct 22, 2016 6:05 AM - Bill Monroe: ok, 2.0's espresso is made...
    Oct 22, 2016 6:06 AM - danzca6: See you later
Oct 22, 2016 6:06 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm not leaving... just doing my expected chore :)
    Oct 22, 2016 6:06 AM - danzca6: Haha
Oct 22, 2016 6:07 AM - danzca6: Yep I just got done serving breakfast and making coffee
Oct 22, 2016 6:07 AM - Bill Monroe: I make it for her.. makes her feel special
    Oct 22, 2016 6:07 AM - Bill Monroe: there ya go :)
Oct 22, 2016 6:07 AM - danzca6: Agreed. My wife does a lot during the week, so I spoil her on the weekends
Oct 22, 2016 6:08 AM - danzca6: She's heading to MN this afternoon for the week
Oct 22, 2016 6:09 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, it's not cold there at all
    Oct 22, 2016 6:09 AM - danzca6: Noooo
Oct 22, 2016 6:09 AM - Bill Monroe: dammit.. odumbo will be in socal tomorrow...
    Oct 22, 2016 6:10 AM - danzca6: It's a big area, you should be good
Oct 22, 2016 6:11 AM - danzca6: I already got voting out of the way
Oct 22, 2016 6:11 AM - Bill Monroe: well, it shuts down the airpaces.. even to model planes
Oct 22, 2016 6:11 AM - danzca6: You know what they say in Chicago, vote early, vote often
    Oct 22, 2016 6:11 AM - danzca6: That sucks
Oct 22, 2016 6:12 AM - danzca6: Better do your flying today then
Oct 22, 2016 6:12 AM - Bill Monroe: ya. there were rumors that he was buying his post-prez home in palm springs...
Oct 22, 2016 6:12 AM - Bill Monroe: which would mean a permanent restriction way too near our place here
Oct 22, 2016 6:16 AM - Bill Monroe: gads.. demotards are all up in arms about trump's result acceptance comment.. they forgot totally about what gore did when he lost
    Oct 22, 2016 6:16 AM - danzca6: This year is a mess
Oct 22, 2016 6:16 AM - Bill Monroe: no kidding
Oct 22, 2016 6:17 AM - Bill Monroe: it wont end right away.. no matter who wins, there's going to be back biting in congress
Oct 22, 2016 6:18 AM - Bill Monroe: Paul Ryan's career has ended
Oct 22, 2016 6:23 AM - danzca6: Well time to enjoy some fresh air... Take it easy
Oct 22, 2016 6:23 AM - Bill Monroe: you too.. stay warm
Oct 22, 2016 6:29 AM - daniel871: The difference is that having a candidate say a month ahead of the end of the election that he will only accept the results if he wins & that he'll throw his opponent in jail if he wins are pretty damn far away from the concept of "peaceful transfer of power" our election process is based on.
Oct 22, 2016 6:35 AM - Toro1966: This duplicator is not printing petg right naymore
Oct 22, 2016 6:36 AM - Toro1966: First print went fine but now it's almost like it is clogged or something. I'll shoot pics.
Oct 22, 2016 6:43 AM - Toro1966: When I try and extrude I get clicking from the extruder and not nearly enough coming out - So I am thinking clog. Not usre why it's clogged though. The first 1/3 printed just fine - other than some retraction issues. Wonder if I printed too Hot?
    Oct 22, 2016 6:44 AM - Toro1966: [IMG]
    Oct 22, 2016 6:45 AM - Toro1966: [IMG]
Oct 22, 2016 8:08 AM - Toro1966: Ok - I am definitely NOT sold on mesh so far. Redid everything and same issue. When it first saves, it pushes the first layer fine, after that, it sucks! It prints too high and won't stick. It's close, but not the way I expected this to be fairly hassle free by the reports. What am I doing wrong

    Oct 24, 2016 9:38 AM - danzca6: We're back!
Oct 24, 2016 9:46 AM - Geof: Wooo alive again lol
    Oct 24, 2016 9:49 AM - danzca6: yes...those script kiddies are ticking me off
Oct 24, 2016 9:51 AM - Geof: Lol their good at shutting us dow
Oct 24, 2016 9:53 AM - danzca6: I wish there was more we could do to prevent it. Like anyone that just joined is restricted to only a small number of posts per day for the first few days or something
    Oct 24, 2016 9:55 AM - daniel871:
Oct 24, 2016 9:58 AM - danzca6: daniel do you print on your MP with PETG?
    Oct 24, 2016 9:59 AM - daniel871: LOL at the 3-minute mark about building a wall.
Oct 24, 2016 9:59 AM - daniel871: Yeah, way down at 235C and very slowly though.
Oct 24, 2016 10:01 AM - danzca6: Toro was having a tough time doing PETG
Oct 24, 2016 10:02 AM - danzca6: I figure it would be pushing the hotend on the MP
Oct 24, 2016 10:03 AM - daniel871: Could also be a hotend cooling problem, depending on how hard the fan is actually blowing.
Oct 24, 2016 10:03 AM - danzca6: do you reduce the speed of the fan with petg
Oct 24, 2016 10:04 AM - daniel871: PETG on the stock hotend is a roll of the dice anyway because of how the liner can develop a good clog depending on how much heat gets to the tubing while retractions/etc. are going on.
Oct 24, 2016 10:05 AM - daniel871: The hotend cooling fan, not the part cooling fan. The hotend cooling fan is always on.
Oct 24, 2016 10:06 AM - daniel871: What I was getting at is that it may be that the original assembly either has a bad fan on the hotend cooling position, or something else needs to be done to make hotend cooling more efficient.
Oct 24, 2016 10:07 AM - daniel871: Some folks will disassemble the hotend and put thermal paste on the part that goes into the cooling block and more thermal paste on the heatsink the fan mounts to so that heat transfers to the heatsink more rapidly.
Oct 24, 2016 10:10 AM - Toro1966: What speed do you print PETG at Daniel? I am printing at 240-245. Primarily because it fluctuates 2-3.5 degrees,
Oct 24, 2016 10:10 AM - danzca6: that makes sense since that is what they are doing on the V6 hotends now
Oct 24, 2016 10:10 AM - danzca6: There he is, welcome back Toro
Oct 24, 2016 10:11 AM - Toro1966: The MP just printed an 12 hour print in Glow Hatchbox
    Oct 24, 2016 10:11 AM - Toro1966: Thanks Dan!
    Oct 24, 2016 10:12 AM - daniel871: I just used the profile for S3D on this page: http://3dprinterwiki.info/wiki/wanhao-duplicator-i3/computer-software/
Oct 24, 2016 10:12 AM - daniel871: There's a PETG profile on there that should be pretty close to correct for any decent PETG material.
    Oct 24, 2016 10:14 AM - danzca6: nice
Oct 24, 2016 10:14 AM - Toro1966: Wonder why they only use .9 for the extrusion multiplier
    Oct 24, 2016 10:14 AM - Toro1966: That seems pretty low.
Oct 24, 2016 10:14 AM - Toro1966: Also why they do manual extrusion width at .4 instead of autop
Oct 24, 2016 10:15 AM - daniel871: Mainly because the auto width has been known to be buggy in Simplify3D.
    Oct 24, 2016 10:15 AM - Toro1966: Never had a problem with it. Also - they have an x and a y offset set. That's strange
    Oct 24, 2016 10:16 AM - Toro1966: They are also printing at 250
Oct 24, 2016 10:17 AM - daniel871: I found 250 to be a little to "runny" on my particular printer, but YMMV.
    Oct 24, 2016 10:18 AM - daniel871: I'm at work so I can't really look at the specific settings.
Oct 24, 2016 10:18 AM - Toro1966: I haven't gotten PETG to print reliably at all on the MP. PLA doesn't do too bad.,
    Oct 24, 2016 10:18 AM - Toro1966: No worries
    Oct 24, 2016 10:19 AM - Toro1966: Need to setup the replacement I3
Oct 24, 2016 10:19 AM - daniel871: Anything above 240C runs the risk of damaging the PTFE liner, depending on how much heat creeps into that area of the hotend, so I haven't really bothered with any of the higher temp filaments.
Oct 24, 2016 10:19 AM - daniel871: It might be worth putting the spare liner piece in and running a test at a cooler temp to see if it extrudes better.
Oct 24, 2016 10:20 AM - daniel871: Or, take a look at that E3D v6 conversion mod and print the stuff for that.
Oct 24, 2016 10:20 AM - Toro1966: I have also found that a raft, while not necessary for sticking, really helps removal!
    Oct 24, 2016 10:20 AM - Toro1966: Yes - but to be honest, by the time I add an E3DV6 - I can buy a third RObo
Oct 24, 2016 10:21 AM - Toro1966: I am getting the hang of the manual leveling though
Oct 24, 2016 10:22 AM - Toro1966: I do the paper test, let it rip, and then adjust the knobs while the skirt is printing to tune it.
Oct 24, 2016 10:24 AM - Toro1966: DId you get the pics of the frankenstein Dan?
    Oct 24, 2016 10:26 AM - danzca6: I did...I like the gray brain on top
Oct 24, 2016 10:29 AM - daniel871: You can always mount the hex from one of your Robos when it dies in the same modification.
    Oct 24, 2016 10:30 AM - danzca6: or get a hex from Robo for under $40
Oct 24, 2016 10:30 AM - daniel871: or go ahead and file a warranty claim on the hex for one of them for when they inevitably leak or fail and have it on hand that way.
Oct 24, 2016 10:31 AM - danzca6: mine has been printing for over a year on the original hex...so they might have gotten over that qc issue
    Oct 24, 2016 10:31 AM - danzca6: I have a new V6 in the wings just in case
Oct 24, 2016 10:35 AM - Toro1966: Thanks. It's hatchbox glow. Is the slight layering I am getting with this normal for a .2 print?
    Oct 24, 2016 10:36 AM - Toro1966: I have three extra V6 socks. Does that count :)
    Oct 24, 2016 10:38 AM - danzca6: might be a very slight z wobble issue...was that on R1-1, R1-2, or MP-1?
Oct 24, 2016 10:38 AM - daniel871: I have a hex as well as a v6 that I'm holding onto for use with that delta if it's stock hotend ends up not functioning right for whatever reason.
    Oct 24, 2016 10:39 AM - daniel871: I haven't seen any pics to comment on.
    Oct 24, 2016 10:48 AM - Toro1966: R1+ #1
    Oct 24, 2016 10:49 AM - Toro1966: What's best fix for z wobble - assuming everything is tight?
    Oct 24, 2016 10:50 AM - Toro1966: It's not that bad I don't think - but I am pretty retentive
Oct 24, 2016 10:50 AM - danzca6: no it looks good. I had to really zoom in to see it
Oct 24, 2016 10:51 AM - danzca6: I was wondering if it was #2 it might have had a slight bend in one of the leadscrews
Oct 24, 2016 10:51 AM - Toro1966: Good enough for me then lol
Oct 24, 2016 10:51 AM - danzca6: you should have seen bad z wobble back in the day prior to the integrated leadscrews
    Oct 24, 2016 10:51 AM - danzca6: it was crazy bad
Oct 24, 2016 10:52 AM - Toro1966: lol. I am thinking about upgrading the rods and bearings on all my axis. Need to find the links to the parts again.
    Oct 24, 2016 10:53 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning gentlemen.
Oct 24, 2016 10:54 AM - Toro1966: Don't they make stepper motors now with the lead screws built in and not coupled? I assume that would make things pretty stable. Morning Waldo
    Oct 24, 2016 10:54 AM - danzca6: morning WW
    Oct 24, 2016 10:54 AM - danzca6: yes....
    Oct 24, 2016 10:54 AM - danzca6: don't you already have that on the R1+ machines
    Oct 24, 2016 10:55 AM - Toro1966: Actually - you are right.
Oct 24, 2016 10:55 AM - Toro1966: Wonder if I can get one with more robust/larger diameter lead screws.
Oct 24, 2016 10:56 AM - WheresWaldo: I use solid couplers and it really doesn't make a bit of difference over integrated lead screws.
Oct 24, 2016 10:56 AM - danzca6: Ours our pretty standard. Same as the prusa. Now the TAZ has 10mm leadscrews I think
    Oct 24, 2016 10:56 AM - danzca6: at least the TAZ6
Oct 24, 2016 10:57 AM - danzca6: I posted a video on how to change out the integrated leadscrews if bent or not the right length. Pretty simple. I thought there would be more too it.
Oct 24, 2016 10:58 AM - Toro1966: I deifnitely need to add dual cooling to the new Robo. Surprised at what a difference not having it makes.
    Oct 24, 2016 10:58 AM - danzca6: yeah that is a good upgrade
    Oct 24, 2016 10:59 AM - danzca6: especially with PLA
    Oct 24, 2016 10:59 AM - Toro1966: Yup
Oct 24, 2016 11:00 AM - danzca6: WW, the issue with my original threaded rods was the brass nut. It was drilled off center on both
Oct 24, 2016 11:00 AM - daniel871: The best fix for wobble if all of the mechanical components are tight is to slow down on the non-printing movements, and maybe even slow down all-around.
Oct 24, 2016 11:01 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, you forgot I am using lead screws also, just with solid couplers
Oct 24, 2016 11:01 AM - daniel871: Or get a Delta and anchor that sucker to a concrete foundation.
Oct 24, 2016 11:05 AM - danzca6: has anyone seen the part daddy delta by seemecnc? that thing is crazy
Oct 24, 2016 11:05 AM - danzca6: my dad sent me pics of it from the orlando maker faire
    Oct 24, 2016 11:06 AM - daniel871: https://www.seemecnc.com/products/partdaddy-large-format-delta-3d-printer?variant=14868652932
    Oct 24, 2016 11:06 AM - daniel871: I like that default picture.
    Oct 24, 2016 11:07 AM - danzca6: It's a 4mm nozzle...not .4, but 4mm. They feed it with a hopper of plastic
Oct 24, 2016 11:08 AM - daniel871: You kind of have to when you start building printers that are that big.
Oct 24, 2016 11:08 AM - danzca6: I've seen them print Roman style pillars on it...pretty cool. It has a desk fan for a part cooling fan
Oct 24, 2016 11:09 AM - danzca6: not sure if anyone has actually ordered one
Oct 24, 2016 11:10 AM - daniel871: Eh. People with too much money on their hands probably.
    Oct 24, 2016 11:10 AM - daniel871: I mean, build size notwithstanding that's a pretty f-ing expensive printer for PLA-only.
Oct 24, 2016 11:11 AM - daniel871: Can you imagine the noxious mess you'd have to deal with using an ABS pellet system and the fumes that would come back off of that?
    Oct 24, 2016 11:11 AM - danzca6: It's a novelty product for sure
Oct 24, 2016 11:11 AM - daniel871: PETG or Nylon might be a better material to experiment with, but still.

Oct 24, 2016 1:07 PM - daniel871: That GIF is a metaphor for a certain political candidate's campaign, by the way.
Oct 24, 2016 1:53 PM - Toro1966: Ok - so I calibrated the extruder in my new robo and I know I need to set the z offset correctly, but the rear of the bed is much higher than the front. Is that normal? Pic of skirt coming

Oct 24, 2016 1:57 PM - Geof: Shim the front of the bed so its high like the rear is.
Oct 24, 2016 1:59 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Geof. That was my initial thought. I assume that's pretty normal?
Oct 24, 2016 2:01 PM - Toro1966: I am actually pretty sure I am going to just wait until later this week when my LCD arrives and then I will update with Mesh!
Oct 24, 2016 2:07 PM - Geof: Yea pretty typical. The beds just arnt level
Oct 24, 2016 2:22 PM - Toro1966: Hey guys any idea why I can't connect to S3D on my RObo all of a sudden? It tries to connect and instead I get all of these symbols
    Oct 24, 2016 2:24 PM - Toro1966: I can connect to MC no problem
Oct 24, 2016 2:35 PM - daniel871: My experience is that MC itself is usually the problem. It doesn't play well with other slicers.
Oct 24, 2016 2:35 PM - daniel871: Or at least it didn't back in 2015. I uninstalled it and never looked back.
Oct 24, 2016 2:36 PM - Toro1966: Nope - definitely not the issue here. Both have been installed for some time. I don't use it either. I just used it to check to make sure somehting could connect tot he printer. MC can, S3D cannot at the moment
Oct 24, 2016 2:37 PM - Toro1966: Ok - figured out the issue. I had the i3 FFF selected. It apparently can't talk to RObo's if the I3 fff is selected
Oct 24, 2016 2:55 PM - Geof: Yes got to select the right printer or it cant communicate
Oct 24, 2016 3:25 PM - Toro1966: Ok - my verdict so far on the Monoprice
    Oct 24, 2016 3:26 PM - Toro1966: Worth $300.
Oct 24, 2016 3:26 PM - Toro1966: At this point, I am not ready to say that it prints anything other than PLA reliably, but it does print PLA well.
    Oct 24, 2016 3:50 PM - Geof: Thats great ! Keeping it ?
    Oct 24, 2016 4:03 PM - Toro1966: Think so.
Oct 24, 2016 4:04 PM - Toro1966: I actually have a replacement one in box. This one if you recall had a screw head sheared off on the frame. i fixed it, but since it had been tweaked, I asked for a replacement. This one, however, has printed a few things.
Oct 24, 2016 4:06 PM - Geof: Ah gotya. So got a new one to keep lol
Oct 24, 2016 4:06 PM - Toro1966: Printing a Mickey Mouse StormTrooper for my wife now on it. I printed one on the Robo (#2) last night. Came out pretty good, but would have come out much better if I had calibrated the extrduer ahead of time.
Oct 24, 2016 4:06 PM - Toro1966: Yup. And I am in on the group buy for the MK2
Oct 24, 2016 4:10 PM - Geof: Very cool. Wont have any regrets with that one :). You should talk to customer service about buying the broken one at a discount ;-)
    Oct 24, 2016 4:11 PM - Toro1966: Do they do that?
Oct 24, 2016 4:12 PM - Geof: Dont know but worth the question :-(
    Oct 24, 2016 4:12 PM - Geof: :)***
Oct 24, 2016 4:12 PM - Toro1966: Hadn't thought of that. Wife would really think I was off the deep end then
Oct 24, 2016 4:13 PM - Geof: I dont see any reman printers for sale lol. Im guessing they just junk em ?
Oct 24, 2016 4:13 PM - Geof: Lol i have 6 in the play room...after the first few they dont care lol
    Oct 24, 2016 4:14 PM - Toro1966: or send them back maybe?
    Oct 24, 2016 4:31 PM - Geof: Say whay
    Oct 24, 2016 4:31 PM - Geof: What***
Oct 24, 2016 5:12 PM - Toro1966: LCD Display on the i3 works, but it is not as quick as it needs to be - for example, when moving axis or extrduing, you turn the know and it will turn and raise the number a few, then there is a delay while it catches up and then all of a sudden you go from like 9 - 16, etc
    Oct 24, 2016 5:13 PM - Toro1966: Almost like it is buffering
Oct 24, 2016 5:18 PM - danzca6: Well just bought an optical sensor...going to try my hand at making a filament runout sensor. Toro you got me thinking of it today.
Oct 24, 2016 5:24 PM - Toro1966: Awesome Dan! Definitely need th ereport when finished
Oct 24, 2016 5:28 PM - danzca6: will do...only about $8 for 3. So I can do it on the Robo and the MK2 with a spare. It will use the firmware to send a filament change M600 command when it runs out past the sensor.
Oct 24, 2016 5:28 PM - danzca6: It will plug into the servo header on the RAMPS
    Oct 24, 2016 5:34 PM - Toro1966: Nice!
Oct 24, 2016 5:34 PM - danzca6: If I changed it to plug into the rpi it could even text/email me that it is out
    Oct 24, 2016 5:34 PM - Geof: Danz...atta boy!
    Oct 24, 2016 5:34 PM - danzca6: I'll try the RAMPS way first
Oct 24, 2016 5:34 PM - danzca6: haha...it's nothing really new, but thought it would be a fun project
Oct 24, 2016 5:35 PM - danzca6: just trying to get ready to port over R2 features to the R1
Oct 24, 2016 5:37 PM - danzca6: Saw a guy today that is beta testing the phone app with his R1+ and RPi...looked to work well. Wouldn't mind seeing it working on android to try it out
Oct 24, 2016 5:47 PM - Geof: Im old school lol. Sd card and physical monitoring for me
    Oct 24, 2016 5:48 PM - JeffTheMess: howdy robonauts
