    May 4, 2015 11:44 AM - Stephen Capistron: ugh
    May 4, 2015 11:44 AM - donhuevo: nasty
May 4, 2015 11:44 AM - Stephen Capistron: jelly beans rule
    May 4, 2015 11:44 AM - bamhm182: Agreed
    May 4, 2015 11:44 AM - jbigler1986: can only eat a few though before it's to much
    May 4, 2015 11:44 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.instructables.com/id/Pocket-laser-engraver/
May 4, 2015 11:44 AM - jbigler1986: i got an awesome 40 flavor pack of jelly beans for xmas. it was awesome
    May 4, 2015 11:45 AM - Stephen Capistron: just don't put these in there > http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-r...iewpnt?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B008JELLCA#R3FTHSH0UNRHOH
May 4, 2015 11:45 AM - bamhm182: If they combined M&Ms & Reese's Cups to make tiny Reese's Cups with a hard shell, I'd be first in line for overnight cases of the 'betis
May 4, 2015 11:46 AM - Mike Kelly: that's what the hope was for reeses pieces but they're not good
    May 4, 2015 11:46 AM - jbigler1986: lmao stephen. best review ever
May 4, 2015 11:46 AM - Mike Kelly: i'll give a bag of them to my diabetic brother in law
    May 4, 2015 11:46 AM - Stephen Capistron: so you mean these > http://www.amazon.com/Ms-Peanut-Butter-50-oz/dp/B00I332L6M
    May 4, 2015 11:48 AM - jbigler1986: i'm not a big peanut butter fan
    May 4, 2015 11:48 AM - bamhm182: That review is amazing, SC
May 4, 2015 11:48 AM - donhuevo: what drones were created for...
    May 4, 2015 11:49 AM - bamhm182: Reese's Pieces need more chocolate. Those M&Ms need the reese's peanut butter
May 4, 2015 11:50 AM - bamhm182: I absolutely need to add a laser to my quad copter now. Haha
May 4, 2015 11:52 AM - bamhm182: Only problem is my quad is tiny. Seriously doubt it could lift off with all those attachments
May 4, 2015 12:00 PM - donhuevo: why does my 'Members in Chat' always say 0?
May 4, 2015 12:00 PM - bamhm182: Don, I've been printing a lot since I put on the new cable hanger. Hasn't even thought about popping out. That's not to say that with a few weeks of use, it won't loosen up, but considering that I was able to print for months with that last design, I think it should be fine
May 4, 2015 12:01 PM - bamhm182: Mine says it too. Never noticed it until you just pointed it out
May 4, 2015 12:02 PM - donhuevo: If you trust it, you trust it.
    May 4, 2015 12:03 PM - toy: http://imgur.com/jsWsEzh diff view
May 4, 2015 12:04 PM - jbigler1986: i think Harry disabled it because it was always changing and annoying
May 4, 2015 12:05 PM - donhuevo: he could have just stopped it from changing. Can't tell who's creeping
May 4, 2015 12:06 PM - bamhm182: When I'm on here, you can basically count on me always having a window open
May 4, 2015 12:07 PM - bamhm182: Then one day it'll close and I'll be gone for a few weeks, then I'll come back and always have it open for a while
May 4, 2015 12:09 PM - Mike Kelly: don that was what i requested he do, he just disabled it entirely...
May 4, 2015 12:10 PM - jbigler1986: probably easier said than done in the script
May 4, 2015 12:11 PM - bamhm182: It shouldn't have been too difficult to just tell it to update once a minute
May 4, 2015 12:11 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah and also it takes effort so it won't happen
May 4, 2015 12:12 PM - bamhm182: We should figure out some awesome project you can use empty filament spools for. I have a bunch of them just laying around
    May 4, 2015 12:13 PM - bamhm182: Wheels for a 3D printed gokart. :p
    May 4, 2015 12:13 PM - jbigler1986: burn them. it's great for the environment
May 4, 2015 12:13 PM - bamhm182: Haha, why didn't I think of that! Perfect! We can determine which brand spool gives you cancer the quickest when burnt
May 4, 2015 12:14 PM - Stephen Capistron: esun spools have a couple bolts in there that can be recycled
May 4, 2015 12:19 PM - Mike Kelly: save them for taring
May 4, 2015 12:19 PM - Stephen Capistron: bolts lags or some type of plastite screw might be a more accurate statement
    May 4, 2015 12:21 PM - donhuevo: http://imgur.com/gallery/56QhP4A
    May 4, 2015 12:21 PM - bamhm182: Haha
    May 4, 2015 12:21 PM - Mike Kelly: i love that sign
May 4, 2015 12:22 PM - Stephen Capistron: whom ever gets to design those "don't stick your finger into the spinning blade" signs has a great job
May 4, 2015 12:22 PM - Mike Kelly: replace all warning signs with "don't be a dumbass"
May 4, 2015 12:22 PM - Mike Kelly: problem solved

May 4, 2015 12:23 PM - Mike Kelly: looks legit

    May 4, 2015 12:38 PM - toy: ?
May 4, 2015 12:38 PM - jbigler1986: prints tonight are shrouds and torque wrench'
    May 4, 2015 12:38 PM - toy: hmmm maybe
May 4, 2015 12:39 PM - toy: would make it look cooler
May 4, 2015 12:39 PM - jbigler1986: how much did that block run you?
May 4, 2015 12:40 PM - toy: i "was" gonna use washers.... but maybe i will counter bore them
May 4, 2015 12:40 PM - toy: for the aluminum?
    May 4, 2015 12:40 PM - jbigler1986: yeah
May 4, 2015 12:41 PM - toy: to make all the parts out of aluminum cost me about 100 plus shipping
May 4, 2015 12:41 PM - toy: so im not really sure how much the base plate was by itself
May 4, 2015 12:41 PM - jbigler1986: what is the end cost going to be you think
    May 4, 2015 12:42 PM - toy: about 1100
    May 4, 2015 12:42 PM - jbigler1986: not bad
    May 4, 2015 12:42 PM - toy: if i was to sell it ...
    May 4, 2015 12:43 PM - toy: maybe 2k
    May 4, 2015 12:43 PM - jbigler1986: sell it to Robo. haha
May 4, 2015 12:45 PM - jbigler1986: if they can put linear steppers in the latest version of the r1 that thing would be an amazing off the shelf machine
    May 4, 2015 12:46 PM - toy: actuators?
    May 4, 2015 12:46 PM - jbigler1986: z steppers
May 4, 2015 12:47 PM - Mike Kelly: captive lead screw stepper motors
May 4, 2015 12:50 PM - toy: where the lead screw is the shaft?
    May 4, 2015 12:50 PM - Mike Kelly: right
May 4, 2015 12:50 PM - Mike Kelly: often times referred to as linear stepper motors
May 4, 2015 12:50 PM - toy: yeah... ebay screwed me over on that one
    May 4, 2015 12:50 PM - toy: lol
May 4, 2015 12:50 PM - Mike Kelly: as it turns stepper motors rotational movement into linear
May 4, 2015 12:50 PM - toy: was not what the picture showed
    May 4, 2015 12:51 PM - jbigler1986: i hate ebay
May 4, 2015 12:51 PM - toy: i ordered some and they came with stepper motor , coupler, lead screw
May 4, 2015 12:51 PM - toy: i was pretty pissed bu oh well
May 4, 2015 12:52 PM - bamhm182: What is it that you are making, toy? I missed when you first started talking about it
May 4, 2015 12:52 PM - toy: my next printer will have linear actuators for the y -axis
May 4, 2015 12:52 PM - Mike Kelly: gotta be extra careful with the description
May 4, 2015 12:52 PM - Mike Kelly: he's essentially turning his robo into a mendel max
May 4, 2015 12:52 PM - toy: im tryin to make a super precise all metal robo printer
    May 4, 2015 12:53 PM - bamhm182: Gotcha
May 4, 2015 12:53 PM - Bill Monroe: super precise and robo are oxymorons
May 4, 2015 12:53 PM - toy: hence why this one is just based losely on the robo
    May 4, 2015 12:53 PM - Mike Kelly: i wouldn't really call his a robo...
May 4, 2015 12:54 PM - toy: all the parts have been machined to .001"
May 4, 2015 12:55 PM - toy: machined so nicely that any 2 metal surfaces touching will create a vacuum seal
May 4, 2015 12:56 PM - Mike Kelly: shoulda spent that machine time making a eusthathios all metal :)
    May 4, 2015 12:57 PM - jbigler1986: he is secretly building the robo r3
May 4, 2015 12:57 PM - toy: good thing my printer is modular
May 4, 2015 12:57 PM - Mike Kelly: lol robo's never gonna do a bed on the y axis again
    May 4, 2015 12:58 PM - jbigler1986: that's part of the surprise
May 4, 2015 12:59 PM - toy: my next printer or maybe even this one will be using something like http://www.ebay.com/itm/THK-LM-Guid...418?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2edc19c2da
    May 4, 2015 12:59 PM - toy: for the y-axis
    May 4, 2015 1:00 PM - toy: doiesnt the r2 have a miving bed?
    May 4, 2015 1:00 PM - toy: moving
May 4, 2015 1:00 PM - bamhm182: Can't wait to see this thing in action, toy

May 4, 2015 1:00 PM - Mike Kelly: what are you making? a pick and place?
May 4, 2015 1:00 PM - jbigler1986: yeah pretty sure the r2 does. if it ever ships
    May 4, 2015 1:01 PM - toy: me, mk?
    May 4, 2015 1:02 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
May 4, 2015 1:02 PM - Mike Kelly: $200 for one axis is bonkers
    May 4, 2015 1:02 PM - toy: i spent 150 on the x-axis micro tsk linear slide
May 4, 2015 1:03 PM - toy: i want to get away from shafting in general and go all slides ( and or actuators)
    May 4, 2015 1:03 PM - Mike Kelly: also bonkers :)
    May 4, 2015 1:04 PM - toy: maybe =)
May 4, 2015 1:05 PM - toy: but it will be a good test platform
May 4, 2015 1:05 PM - Bill Monroe: toy, you talking the x-pattern dual row pillow blocks?
May 4, 2015 1:05 PM - toy: i machined my own pillow blocks
    May 4, 2015 1:05 PM - Bill Monroe: oh
May 4, 2015 1:06 PM - toy: yeah and pressed fitted the bearing too
May 4, 2015 1:06 PM - toy: turned out great
    May 4, 2015 1:11 PM - toy: http://imgur.com/HFEihpO u can see the $150 tsk linear slide ( x - axis)
May 4, 2015 1:12 PM - Stephen Capistron: other good stuff in the back left
    May 4, 2015 1:16 PM - jbigler1986: www.dildo-generator.com
    May 4, 2015 1:16 PM - daniel871: Hah.
    May 4, 2015 1:16 PM - jbigler1986: mothers day present anyone?
    May 4, 2015 1:16 PM - jbigler1986: is that to far?
May 4, 2015 1:16 PM - daniel871: You could print her a butt plug with the Robo.
May 4, 2015 1:17 PM - daniel871: Might be on the small side given the Robo's size limits though.
May 4, 2015 1:17 PM - Mike Kelly: be sure to include some body safe silicone
    May 4, 2015 1:17 PM - jbigler1986: you mean this http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:496236
May 4, 2015 1:18 PM - daniel871: Yeah. Have to scale it to be as big as the printing area will allow though.
May 4, 2015 1:19 PM - daniel871: Maybe rotate into the X or Y plane and put support material in with Simplify3D
May 4, 2015 1:20 PM - jbigler1986: support material might make it "ribbed"
    May 4, 2015 1:20 PM - daniel871: That's more of a feature than a bug.
    May 4, 2015 1:21 PM - jbigler1986: ok this is to far
    May 4, 2015 1:21 PM - jbigler1986: i should have worded that better
May 4, 2015 1:22 PM - daniel871: christine romero's profile post down there seems to indicate it might not be.

May 4, 2015 1:24 PM - bamhm182: So my roommate is going on vacation next month. I've been waiting for this opportunity for a while. I'm totally going to print out a dick showerhead and put it in his shower
May 4, 2015 1:25 PM - bamhm182: It'll be funny, unless he's grateful, in which case it'll make things awkward...
May 4, 2015 1:29 PM - jbigler1986: i drew a big dick on my parents garage door when i was younger and drunk. totally forgot they have security cameras. total failure
    May 4, 2015 1:29 PM - Mike Kelly: lmao
May 4, 2015 1:30 PM - Mike Kelly: genius right here
May 4, 2015 1:30 PM - jbigler1986: my oldest son is going to pay me back for everything i have done. i know it

May 4, 2015 1:33 PM - jbigler1986: looks good. some of the layers are pretty pronounced though. Is that normal

    May 4, 2015 1:35 PM - jbigler1986: i know nothing about sla
May 4, 2015 1:40 PM - Mike Kelly: you'll always have some of that with AM
May 4, 2015 1:40 PM - Mike Kelly: don't know what his resolution was either
    May 4, 2015 1:41 PM - jbigler1986: yeah i haven't researched sla at all
    May 4, 2015 1:42 PM - Mike Kelly: https://plus.google.com/u/1/+JasonClark/posts/Yus1YtbbS6Q?cfem=1 this is legendary
May 4, 2015 1:44 PM - Mike Kelly: president just called everyone in for a meeting
May 4, 2015 1:44 PM - Mike Kelly: i thought he was going to announce we have funding
May 4, 2015 1:44 PM - Mike Kelly: nope, just a crack on someones ridiculous global warming prediction
May 4, 2015 1:45 PM - Mike Kelly: that lulzbot job is looking more and more appealing
May 4, 2015 1:48 PM - Mike Kelly: in other news these look nice; https://plus.google.com/u/1/111321733882774884624/posts/j34bnL312Lk?cfem=1
May 4, 2015 1:50 PM - toy: mike on the ramps... whats the 11 amp and 5 amp line inputs for?
May 4, 2015 1:51 PM - toy: is one for the heated bed?
    May 4, 2015 1:51 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
    May 4, 2015 1:52 PM - Mike Kelly: http://reprap.org/mediawiki/images/f/f6/RAMPS1.4schematic.png
May 4, 2015 1:55 PM - bamhm182: Got the molex pins we ordered from Mouser today
May 4, 2015 1:56 PM - bamhm182: They seem to be good enough quality. I also got the molex extractor that Don(??) recommended. Works great for the standard 4 pin molex. It's too fat for the PCI-E power cables or the 20/24 pin going to the motherboard though
May 4, 2015 2:04 PM - bamhm182: Also got my 1/2" sleeving. My printer is going to look niiiiiice once I throw all my new additions in there
May 4, 2015 2:04 PM - bamhm182: Whether it works or not is yet to be addressed, but it will look nice at least
May 4, 2015 2:11 PM - Mike Kelly: heh yeah i know how that goes
May 4, 2015 2:11 PM - Mike Kelly: my mouser connectors are supposed to show up todayy
May 4, 2015 2:13 PM - Mike Kelly: i need to get my robo up and running, gotta make new name blocks
    May 4, 2015 2:16 PM - bamhm182: What's going on with it?
May 4, 2015 2:23 PM - Mike Kelly: there's just a couple wire connections that are finicky
May 4, 2015 2:23 PM - Mike Kelly: it's not very serious, just irritating to try and deal with
    May 4, 2015 2:29 PM - bamhm182: Fair enough
May 4, 2015 2:38 PM - Mike Kelly: makerware often surprises me with how good it can actually be
    May 4, 2015 2:38 PM - bamhm182: Why's that? I've never tried it
    May 4, 2015 2:38 PM - bamhm182: http://www.amazon.com/Molex-Extractor-Kit-32134-Zubehör/dp/B004CL88KW
May 4, 2015 2:39 PM - Mike Kelly: you wouldn't unless you used a replicator style
May 4, 2015 2:39 PM - bamhm182: I think I might end up buying that if I decide that I really want to remove pins besides the 4-pin molex style
May 4, 2015 2:39 PM - Mike Kelly: it does a lot of cool things for dual extrusion
    May 4, 2015 2:40 PM - bamhm182: Things that Simplify3D doesn't?
    May 4, 2015 2:40 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
May 4, 2015 2:40 PM - Mike Kelly: simplify3d is really dreadful for dual extrusion support
    May 4, 2015 2:40 PM - bamhm182: hmn
May 4, 2015 2:40 PM - bamhm182: What do you use when you're slicing for dual extrusion?
May 4, 2015 2:40 PM - Mike Kelly: cura mostly
May 4, 2015 2:40 PM - Mike Kelly: makerware isn't shy at all about adding lots of support material for dual extrusions, which is great cause HIPS doesn't bond super amazing to ABS
May 4, 2015 2:41 PM - Mike Kelly: so my simplify3d supports often break off
    May 4, 2015 2:41 PM - jbigler1986: Gonna print the shroud in a few
May 4, 2015 2:41 PM - Mike Kelly: what impressed me right now was i'm trying to print the valve cover for the toyota 22RE engine
May 4, 2015 2:42 PM - Mike Kelly: and being a lid it has a large flat portion on the bottom of it
May 4, 2015 2:42 PM - Mike Kelly: so what makerware did was build an internal wall of hips, and then before the primary material it does a layer or 2 of hips bridging
May 4, 2015 2:42 PM - Mike Kelly: it i were to do that in simplify3d it would just fill the entire void with support
May 4, 2015 2:43 PM - jbigler1986: I remove about half of the support for big bridging. Some is needed but not nearly as much as it adds
May 4, 2015 2:49 PM - Mike Kelly: bamhm is that the kit you bought or are you looking at that one instead
May 4, 2015 2:49 PM - Mike Kelly: oh, nevermind!
    May 4, 2015 2:50 PM - bamhm182: That's just the one I'm looking at
May 4, 2015 2:50 PM - bamhm182: I bought one that is included with that kit, but it was a standalone
    May 4, 2015 2:50 PM - bamhm182: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0094MIS9U
    May 4, 2015 2:50 PM - bamhm182: That
May 4, 2015 2:51 PM - bamhm182: It works great for the 4-pins, but it's way too fat for anything else
May 4, 2015 2:52 PM - Mike Kelly: got it
May 4, 2015 2:53 PM - bamhm182: The 4-pins are 0.093" and the rest are 0.062" if I remember right. Interestingly enough, the one end of the tool fits over the 0.062" pin/socket well, but it's just too big to fit inside the plastic
May 4, 2015 2:55 PM - bamhm182: For that, I think you need something closer to the tweezers-type-object in the kit I posted. A lot of people were complaining about them being too flimsy on Amazon, but there are plenty of good reviews out there, so I think they were just being too forceful
May 4, 2015 2:56 PM - bamhm182: If you were to make your own "molex" connectors though, you could make it so that isn't an issue. Haha
    May 4, 2015 2:57 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah that's not something i'm interested in doing :)
    May 4, 2015 2:58 PM - bamhm182: Understandable

    May 4, 2015 3:03 PM - bamhm182: Have you ever heard of Clara.io?
    May 4, 2015 3:04 PM - Mike Kelly: nope
    May 4, 2015 3:05 PM - bamhm182: It's a browser based 3d modeling program. I'm sure it has it's limitations, but it looks usable
May 4, 2015 3:05 PM - Mike Kelly: Onshape looks really promising but it's more polymetric, this seems like it could do mesh modeling
May 4, 2015 3:05 PM - bamhm182: I'm going to be going to nights soon, and considering there's rarely anything to do, I think Clara.io and I are going to become very familiar, haha
May 4, 2015 3:08 PM - Mike Kelly: always a good skill to have
    May 4, 2015 3:09 PM - bamhm182: Onshape does look pretty great
    May 4, 2015 3:09 PM - bamhm182: Price is a bit steep though
    May 4, 2015 3:09 PM - Mike Kelly: ? it's free
    May 4, 2015 3:09 PM - bamhm182: For 5 projects
    May 4, 2015 3:09 PM - Mike Kelly: 5 active projects
May 4, 2015 3:10 PM - Mike Kelly: you can have limitless number of projects you just need to deactivate them
May 4, 2015 3:10 PM - Mike Kelly: you can reactivate them at any time
    May 4, 2015 3:10 PM - Mike Kelly: i'd request a beta invite
    May 4, 2015 3:10 PM - bamhm182: Oh, fair enough
    May 4, 2015 3:10 PM - bamhm182: I did
    May 4, 2015 3:10 PM - bamhm182: Are you in the beta?
May 4, 2015 3:10 PM - bamhm182: Also, you can have unlimited private projects
    May 4, 2015 3:10 PM - bamhm182: *public
May 4, 2015 3:11 PM - bamhm182: It's just the private ones that you can only have 5 of
May 4, 2015 3:11 PM - Mike Kelly: i got a beta invite but i've never played with it
May 4, 2015 3:12 PM - bamhm182: I guess you wouldn't really have the need to considering you've got modeling software at home and work
May 4, 2015 3:12 PM - bamhm182: Would be a neat feature to be able to sync the two though
    May 4, 2015 3:12 PM - bamhm182: Had you heard of Lynda?
May 4, 2015 3:12 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah solidworks sells a solution to that....
    May 4, 2015 3:12 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
May 4, 2015 3:12 PM - Mike Kelly: DDS loves to nickle and dime you
May 4, 2015 3:13 PM - bamhm182: I'm thinking they're also going to be getting a good bit of my bandwidth
    May 4, 2015 3:13 PM - Mike Kelly: x10,000
    May 4, 2015 3:13 PM - bamhm182: DDS?
May 4, 2015 3:13 PM - Mike Kelly: dassault systemes, they make solidworks
    May 4, 2015 3:13 PM - bamhm182: Ah, right
May 4, 2015 3:14 PM - Mike Kelly: i hope onshape puts some pressure on them to revise their business motto
May 4, 2015 3:14 PM - Mike Kelly: costs as much to renew a seat in solidworks for a year (after you own the license) than it does for a year of onshape
    May 4, 2015 3:15 PM - bamhm182: Jesus
May 4, 2015 3:15 PM - Mike Kelly: god help you if you want an add on
May 4, 2015 3:15 PM - bamhm182: What program do you use the most?
    May 4, 2015 3:15 PM - bamhm182: I've been getting pretty familiar with Blender
    May 4, 2015 3:15 PM - Mike Kelly: solidworks
May 4, 2015 3:16 PM - Mike Kelly: i rarely touch anything else
May 4, 2015 3:16 PM - Mike Kelly: i do want to spend some more time playing with organic modeling
May 4, 2015 3:16 PM - Mike Kelly: but that's quite a change of methodology
May 4, 2015 3:16 PM - bamhm182: It's weird. They offer a Student discount and a Veteran discount, but no Active Duty discount
    May 4, 2015 3:17 PM - bamhm182: I guess I'll have to take a class again, haha
May 4, 2015 3:17 PM - Mike Kelly: that is strange
May 4, 2015 3:18 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, it would be nice to be able know your way around organic modeling
May 4, 2015 3:18 PM - bamhm182: Aside from moving around models other people have created, I haven't tried it at all. Looks pretty difficult.
    May 4, 2015 3:19 PM - Mike Kelly: i tried 3ds max for about 30 hours
May 4, 2015 3:19 PM - bamhm182: My artistic ability is zero. I can make things work, but as for making them pretty, that's a whole different story
    May 4, 2015 3:19 PM - Mike Kelly: didn't get very far...
May 4, 2015 3:20 PM - bamhm182: I tried 3DS max for a minute, then went back to Blender. Mostly because it was having issues installing after reinstalling Windows 7 a while back
May 4, 2015 3:23 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah my license expired, autodesk does have a pretty decent student trial setup
    May 4, 2015 3:29 PM - bamhm182: Yeah they do
    May 4, 2015 3:55 PM - jbigler1986: Printing it now Mike
May 4, 2015 4:12 PM - Printed Solid: Do any of you use Fusion 360?
May 4, 2015 4:24 PM - Mike Kelly: Sweet jb. I hope it works.
May 4, 2015 4:31 PM - toy: mike learn rhino

May 4, 2015 4:33 PM - jbigler1986: Mike it sits just a little bit to low
May 4, 2015 4:34 PM - jbigler1986: Besides that it fits good. Is that an easy fix for you?
May 4, 2015 4:34 PM - toy: i spent some time.. getting the center of gravity correct so all the weight is on the lead screws
May 4, 2015 4:35 PM - jbigler1986: Like it's angle just a touch to low. Let me get a pic for you
    May 4, 2015 4:35 PM - toy: yo printed....

    May 4, 2015 4:54 PM - Printed Solid: hello
    May 4, 2015 5:01 PM - toy: printed i need some filament
    May 4, 2015 5:03 PM - Printed Solid: yeah? I sell filament :p
    May 4, 2015 5:03 PM - toy: woohoo
    May 4, 2015 5:04 PM - toy: whats the deal on the 250g pla's
May 4, 2015 5:04 PM - Printed Solid: for your class? I think I sent you a convo about giving you a good deal on taking the rest of them.
May 4, 2015 5:04 PM - Printed Solid: I don't really want to sell them anymore so I can give them to you at cost.
    May 4, 2015 5:04 PM - toy: yeah... i think i missed that convo
May 4, 2015 5:05 PM - Printed Solid: let me see if I can find it.
May 4, 2015 5:05 PM - toy: i think i changed accounts from toymaker to toy
May 4, 2015 5:05 PM - Printed Solid: I sent it to toy. april 19th.
May 4, 2015 5:06 PM - Printed Solid: I can resend now if it's not there.
    May 4, 2015 5:06 PM - toy: please
May 4, 2015 5:06 PM - jbigler1986: I remember that talk on here. He needed like 20 spools or something
May 4, 2015 5:06 PM - toy: weird i never got that convo... sry
    May 4, 2015 5:06 PM - toy: yeah
    May 4, 2015 5:06 PM - toy: still do
May 4, 2015 5:06 PM - toy: my class in about 30 days
    May 4, 2015 5:08 PM - Printed Solid: sent.
May 4, 2015 5:09 PM - Printed Solid: hopefully that can work, but if not, do what's best for your class.
    May 4, 2015 5:10 PM - jbigler1986: When will you be back?
May 4, 2015 5:11 PM - Printed Solid: Orders are still going out now. Believe it or not, printed solid is actually not just me, but I have a lot of anxiety about not being there.
May 4, 2015 5:12 PM - jbigler1986: I was asking so I know when to send the stuff back
May 4, 2015 5:17 PM - bamhm182: Hey Printed. Got my order of the Cyclops from the other day. Fast shipping and great service as always (PLUS Gummy Bears and Stickers!) Thanks again!
May 4, 2015 5:17 PM - Printed Solid: JB, just hold off until next week. I'll let you know.
    May 4, 2015 5:18 PM - Printed Solid: you're welcome.
May 4, 2015 5:25 PM - toy: printed lets make it happen
    May 4, 2015 5:27 PM - jbigler1986: Sounds good
May 4, 2015 5:27 PM - Mike Kelly: jb so does it fit? it should have 1mm of clearance
May 4, 2015 5:28 PM - Printed Solid: great. I will need to give you the full formal quote next week. I need to figure out how to box and ship.
    May 4, 2015 5:28 PM - toy: ok... email me @ metalworkzlv@gmail.com
May 4, 2015 5:29 PM - toy: next week? isnt this monday?
May 4, 2015 5:33 PM - bamhm182: Printed, how many 250g spools will you have after toy's order?
May 4, 2015 5:41 PM - bamhm182: If he doesn't finish off your supply, I'd be willing to buy around 10 or so spools from you
    May 4, 2015 5:59 PM - jbigler1986: I need to edit this stl. Hmmm

    May 4, 2015 6:00 PM - toy: fix a stl ?
May 4, 2015 6:03 PM - toy: http://i.imgur.com/es2KZfO.jpg little dark... but u can see the x-axis linear glide, dual z- linear shafts
    May 4, 2015 6:06 PM - jbigler1986: Getting closer
May 4, 2015 6:07 PM - jbigler1986: No. Mike made this shroud for me but it's just little bit to long and it goes lower than the nozzle
May 4, 2015 6:10 PM - toy: i still have 1 solid day left of machining
May 4, 2015 6:11 PM - toy: then i will make my all - metal extruders (which i will probably sell for a great price)
May 4, 2015 6:11 PM - toy: if any one is interested =)
May 4, 2015 6:12 PM - jbigler1986: do you have an kind of picture for it
May 4, 2015 6:13 PM - jbigler1986: maybe just scaling the thins will do the trick
May 4, 2015 6:14 PM - toy: goto the 22ish sec mark.... and they will be based loosely on these
    May 4, 2015 6:16 PM - bamhm182: Should be pretty slick
May 4, 2015 6:16 PM - toy: yeah.. they will be expandle up to 4 extruders
    May 4, 2015 6:16 PM - toy: expandable...
    May 4, 2015 6:32 PM - jbigler1986: Try number 2
May 4, 2015 6:38 PM - Mike Kelly: jb i'm just not sure where the error is
May 4, 2015 6:39 PM - Mike Kelly: you installed it and when you homed it the shroud hits first?
May 4, 2015 6:44 PM - Stephen Capistron: thicker fan?
    May 4, 2015 6:45 PM - jbigler1986: Yes mike
May 4, 2015 6:45 PM - Mike Kelly: can you measure your fan thickness?
May 4, 2015 6:46 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah as soon as this finishes. So like 15 minutes
    May 4, 2015 6:46 PM - Mike Kelly: ok
May 4, 2015 6:52 PM - TechSupportGo: got all my stuff I ordered, thanks printed!
    May 4, 2015 6:54 PM - bamhm182: I bring you.... "ART"!!!!
    May 4, 2015 6:54 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
May 4, 2015 6:55 PM - bamhm182: These things are pretty cool once you figure out how to use them. I had the make some that were 125% and 110% the standard size to get them to fit snugly, but it works.
May 4, 2015 6:55 PM - Stephen Capistron: if you want to call it that :p
    May 4, 2015 6:56 PM - jbigler1986: Wait a minute. It's after 5pm and Stephen is here. Can't be true
May 4, 2015 6:56 PM - Stephen Capistron: i'lbbe be going to bed shortly
May 4, 2015 6:56 PM - bamhm182: Art... Something Else... Whatever you call it, it's a great distraction from the book I'm supposed to be reading next to it >_<
May 4, 2015 6:58 PM - jbigler1986: Hopefully we get these shrouds figured out tonight. I believe we will
May 4, 2015 6:59 PM - Stephen Capistron: i've been using onshape a bit over the last month or two. It is similar to SW in model construction but the interface is a little different
May 4, 2015 6:59 PM - Stephen Capistron: it is good for making structural things, not so much "art"
May 4, 2015 7:00 PM - Stephen Capistron: you can actually make a multitude of parts in each project file which is nice as it is fairly easy to reference a previous model
May 4, 2015 7:01 PM - Stephen Capistron: not as easy as CREO, but CREO lets you develop all sorts of other bad habits
May 4, 2015 7:01 PM - jbigler1986: What is the learning curve on it compared to SW
May 4, 2015 7:01 PM - Stephen Capistron: about the same
May 4, 2015 7:02 PM - Stephen Capistron: it still doesn't have a loft feature which is a big black mark
May 4, 2015 7:03 PM - Stephen Capistron: some of the assembly constraints could be clearer; for instance "slider" is used for rods through holes but also if you just want to surfaces to be planar
May 4, 2015 7:03 PM - Stephen Capistron: to two
May 4, 2015 7:05 PM - Mike Kelly: these are interesting and make me feel a bit better about science denialism:
May 4, 2015 7:05 PM - Stephen Capistron: the graphics could be a little crisper, some of the lines can appear blurry which makes it tough
    May 4, 2015 7:08 PM - jbigler1986: MK. 11.2mm
May 4, 2015 7:09 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm damn
May 4, 2015 7:09 PM - Stephen Capistron: have you done a gauge R&R on your measurement method and equipment?
    May 4, 2015 7:09 PM - Stephen Capistron: later
    May 4, 2015 7:10 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
May 4, 2015 7:11 PM - Mike Kelly: i do not make mistakes! it must be your carriage that is the mistake!
May 4, 2015 7:12 PM - jbigler1986: scaling this on just the z height made it fit
May 4, 2015 7:13 PM - Mike Kelly: i'll bump it up another mm, should resolve it
    May 4, 2015 7:14 PM - jbigler1986: scaling it shorter that is
May 4, 2015 7:14 PM - Mike Kelly: how much
May 4, 2015 7:14 PM - Mike Kelly: do you think a half mm is enough?
    May 4, 2015 7:14 PM - jbigler1986: it was at like 15 on the z. scaled it to 13
    May 4, 2015 7:15 PM - jbigler1986: let see if 14 would probably be ok. 1 sec
May 4, 2015 7:16 PM - Mike Kelly: bah of course i adjust it from 1mm offset to 2mm and now it throws up model errors
    May 4, 2015 7:17 PM - jbigler1986: yeah 14 should be fine
May 4, 2015 7:20 PM - jbigler1986: possible to open the opening a little too to get a little more airflow
May 4, 2015 7:21 PM - bamhm182: Stephen, I'm going to night's soon and there's a lot of downtime. I was actually looking at Onshape earlier today. Thanks for your input on it. I think I know what I'm going to be doing with all that downtime. Haha
May 4, 2015 7:21 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm i can try i suppose, want more downward air?
    May 4, 2015 7:22 PM - jbigler1986: yeah
    May 4, 2015 7:22 PM - jbigler1986: http://imgur.com/VYw2S6k
    May 4, 2015 7:23 PM - Mike Kelly: that's the 13mm
    May 4, 2015 7:23 PM - jbigler1986: yeah
May 4, 2015 7:24 PM - Mike Kelly: do you think if i just increase the mouth opening we wouldn't need to reduce height
May 4, 2015 7:25 PM - jbigler1986: if you can pull the bottom part up a little
    May 4, 2015 7:25 PM - Mike Kelly: uh
May 4, 2015 7:26 PM - Mike Kelly: that doesn't really make sense to me
May 4, 2015 7:26 PM - Mike Kelly: it's tilted, the bottom doesn't sit flat
May 4, 2015 7:27 PM - jbigler1986: well however we can get it to not sit as low is all
    May 4, 2015 7:30 PM - Mike Kelly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4n75l6at9bkg75z/Fan Shroud Dual v6.1.STL?dl=0
May 4, 2015 7:30 PM - Mike Kelly: try that
    May 4, 2015 7:31 PM - jbigler1986: k
    May 4, 2015 7:36 PM - jbigler1986: printing
May 4, 2015 7:39 PM - jbigler1986: i had these issues with printing fans from thingiverse too
May 4, 2015 7:40 PM - Mike Kelly: i've always been kinda shocked how well my models translate to real life
May 4, 2015 7:41 PM - Mike Kelly: i do have a concern that the shroud is interfering with the base and that's why you're seeing the issue
May 4, 2015 7:41 PM - jbigler1986: not sure. i think this will fix it though. we shall see
    May 4, 2015 7:43 PM - jbigler1986: said 40 minutes but i will bump up speed to like 120 percent or 130
May 4, 2015 7:45 PM - jbigler1986: how do i fix those gaps in between infill and perimeter
    May 4, 2015 7:45 PM - Mike Kelly: simplify?
    May 4, 2015 7:45 PM - jbigler1986: yeah
May 4, 2015 7:46 PM - Mike Kelly: whats the overlap set to
    May 4, 2015 7:46 PM - jbigler1986: 15%
    May 4, 2015 7:48 PM - jbigler1986: turn it way up?
May 4, 2015 7:49 PM - Mike Kelly: might help to experiment with that
May 4, 2015 7:49 PM - Mike Kelly: when's the last time you calibrated your extruder
    May 4, 2015 7:49 PM - jbigler1986: a while ago
    May 4, 2015 7:50 PM - Mike Kelly: can't hurt to check
    May 4, 2015 7:51 PM - jbigler1986: true
    May 4, 2015 7:51 PM - jbigler1986: everything prints great except that
May 4, 2015 7:52 PM - jbigler1986: i will mess with that after i get this worked out
May 4, 2015 7:52 PM - bamhm182: Ugh... I swear I'm never going to be able to do one of Emmett's cubes...
May 4, 2015 7:53 PM - Mike Kelly: whys that
    May 4, 2015 7:54 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
May 4, 2015 7:54 PM - bamhm182: Got that far done and realized it stopped extruding a while back
May 4, 2015 7:55 PM - Mike Kelly: one piece, one failure :)
May 4, 2015 7:56 PM - jbigler1986: yep. i had trouble myself until after my rods. tried again and went perfect. didn't have to sand any piece at all
    May 4, 2015 7:57 PM - bamhm182: How would rods impact extrusion? :S
May 4, 2015 7:57 PM - Mike Glass: god jb is talking about his rod again..lol
    May 4, 2015 7:57 PM - jbigler1986: it wasn't extrusion

May 4, 2015 8:00 PM - Mike Glass: friday we had a party for a guy leaving, then a parade, then my daughter knocked her front tooth out and had to get the remainder out..ugg
May 4, 2015 8:00 PM - jbigler1986: sorry to hear that. hopefully a baby tooth
May 4, 2015 8:01 PM - Mike Glass: yea, she is only 4 in a few days, she crashed on her scooter head first, she is tough little turd.
May 4, 2015 8:01 PM - jbigler1986: Mk I had to restart it because I didn't put hairspray down. woops. changed the overlap while i was at it and it looks great
    May 4, 2015 8:02 PM - jbigler1986: MG that's always a scary time though
May 4, 2015 8:03 PM - Mike Glass: my poor wife just got home with the kids then that happens had to run back into town..but she remained very calm
    May 4, 2015 8:03 PM - bamhm182: Hey MG

May 4, 2015 8:03 PM - jbigler1986: My 4 year old feel a few months ago and cut the inside of his lip with his tooth. blood everywhere. Doctor gave us the choice to do stitches or not because it was right on the edge of needing them or not
May 4, 2015 8:04 PM - Mike Glass: I did cut a few pieces of acrylic this weekend
May 4, 2015 8:04 PM - jbigler1986: I was like how about you decide. Don't leave that to me
May 4, 2015 8:04 PM - Mike Glass: haha yea i hate that
May 4, 2015 8:05 PM - jbigler1986: did you cut it with the multi?
May 4, 2015 8:05 PM - Mike Glass: yea, well not cut but engrave.
May 4, 2015 8:06 PM - Mike Glass: I almost cut the second it went way to deep
    May 4, 2015 8:06 PM - jbigler1986: so something besides a pen. lol
May 4, 2015 8:06 PM - jbigler1986: glad you got it going. that was a hell of a project
May 4, 2015 8:07 PM - Mike Glass: http://www.thingiverse.com/make:134212 I posted the vids an pics on my made page.
May 4, 2015 8:08 PM - Mike Glass: yep, now time to build a BAP, I have the frame already.
May 4, 2015 8:10 PM - Mike Glass: Think I will use the same Linear you got , but not sure if you couldnt get them to work without swapping cases not sure it will do me any good.
May 4, 2015 8:11 PM - jbigler1986: they worked when plugged into the x axis
    May 4, 2015 8:12 PM - Mike Kelly: BAP?
May 4, 2015 8:12 PM - Mike Glass: bet it is just the way the connectors are wired, probably could swap around,
May 4, 2015 8:12 PM - Mike Glass: Big Ass Printer
May 4, 2015 8:13 PM - Mike Kelly: i need your drive to finish projects
    May 4, 2015 8:13 PM - jbigler1986: ^
May 4, 2015 8:13 PM - Mike Glass: just imagine what I could do if I had beer..lol
May 4, 2015 8:14 PM - Mike Kelly: much less if i'm any indicator :)
May 4, 2015 8:15 PM - Mike Glass: Learning Cam is so much fun
May 4, 2015 8:17 PM - jbigler1986: robo sent me a tshirt and my wife a polo. those hookers
    May 4, 2015 8:18 PM - Mike Glass: I like the polo
May 4, 2015 8:18 PM - bamhm182: I'm going to try again, but this time I'm only going to do 1 part at a time. That way when it fails (and it will because these rotating deals hate me) it won't waste a bunch of filament
    May 4, 2015 8:18 PM - jbigler1986: so do i
May 4, 2015 8:18 PM - Mike Glass: just turn down retraction
May 4, 2015 8:19 PM - jbigler1986: ?are you printing from usb still
May 4, 2015 8:19 PM - bamhm182: It's just weird though, because I've been printing like NON-STOP the past week and I haven't run into a single issue
May 4, 2015 8:20 PM - bamhm182: Then bam, I say "I haven't tried to print a rotating heart in a while. I wonder if I can have it print without failing?" and I get my first failed print in who knows how long. :p
May 4, 2015 8:20 PM - jbigler1986: any usb glitch for whatever reason will screw up your print
May 4, 2015 8:21 PM - bamhm182: The problem is that the filament jammed and the hobbed bolt chewed it and wouldn't push it through anymore. Removed the filament, purged it, and now it's printing fine
    May 4, 2015 8:21 PM - bamhm182: I have one of those LCD screens
    May 4, 2015 8:21 PM - jbigler1986: oiler?
May 4, 2015 8:21 PM - bamhm182: Mainly because of the issue you mentioned. The computer I was originally printing on was a major reason my prints were failing when I first started
    May 4, 2015 8:21 PM - jbigler1986: or just season your hotend
May 4, 2015 8:22 PM - bamhm182: That's something I'm definitely going to look into adding once I start tearing this thing apart in a few days
    May 4, 2015 8:22 PM - bamhm182: What's that mean, again?
May 4, 2015 8:22 PM - jbigler1986: dip a little bit of filament in oil and push it through the hotend
    May 4, 2015 8:23 PM - jbigler1986: do it a couple times
May 4, 2015 8:23 PM - Mike Glass: I use virgin, as that is what I have
    May 4, 2015 8:23 PM - bamhm182: Fair enough
May 4, 2015 8:24 PM - bamhm182: I'll give that a go if it fails again, or maybe just for the hell of it after this finishes
    May 4, 2015 8:25 PM - jbigler1986: MG chemicals filament sucks
May 4, 2015 8:26 PM - Mike Glass: dont hate on the MG
    May 4, 2015 8:27 PM - jbigler1986: don't ever buy it from frys
    May 4, 2015 8:33 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
May 4, 2015 8:33 PM - bamhm182: Just finished up a box for the Gyroid Construction Set. Should be able to hold 50 of them and a TON of the connector sticks
May 4, 2015 8:34 PM - bamhm182: Planning on giving it to my dad for his birthday. He loves to play with things you can build stuff with. Figured that'd be a pretty good gift.
    May 4, 2015 8:36 PM - jbigler1986:
    May 4, 2015 8:39 PM - bamhm182: That is pretty epic
May 4, 2015 8:41 PM - Mike Glass: I have a dlp to build one of those, although not sure what I would do with parts from sla printer, they are very brittle
    May 4, 2015 8:41 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
May 4, 2015 8:42 PM - bamhm182: One of my friends asked my to model an Orc reading a book for Pathfinder. Mailed it to him and he painted it. I'm definitely going to have to look into paints
    May 4, 2015 8:42 PM - jbigler1986: almost done MK
May 4, 2015 8:49 PM - Mike Glass: I still got to paint one of my statues with the bronze dust I got.
    May 4, 2015 8:54 PM - jbigler1986: MK that did the trick
    May 4, 2015 8:55 PM - jbigler1986: has good airflow too
    May 4, 2015 8:55 PM - jbigler1986: bronze dust?
May 4, 2015 8:57 PM - Mike Glass: Yea pretty expensive but cheaper than bronzefill filament

May 5, 2015 8:10 AM - jbigler1986: printing the nozzle torque wrench now
May 5, 2015 8:11 AM - jbigler1986: cura doesn't seem to accept my speed change
May 5, 2015 8:11 AM - jbigler1986: i have to turn it down on the lcd
May 5, 2015 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: how are you adjusting it
    May 5, 2015 8:12 AM - jbigler1986: in cura?
    May 5, 2015 8:13 AM - Mike Kelly: yes
May 5, 2015 8:14 AM - jbigler1986: speed on the first tab. changed it to 30 and it didn't seem to have any effect
May 5, 2015 8:15 AM - Stephen Capistron: I think the main interface goes dead once you hit print in Cura
May 5, 2015 8:16 AM - Stephen Capistron: I wind up having to change everything through the G code
May 5, 2015 8:16 AM - jbigler1986: i save the gcode to sd then print from lcd
May 5, 2015 8:17 AM - Mike Kelly: do you have values set for the infill speed/perimeters under advanced?

May 5, 2015 8:21 AM - Stephen Capistron: i could not get repetier to connect either.
    May 5, 2015 8:21 AM - jbigler1986: travel speed 130, bottom layer speed 20, infill speed 0
May 5, 2015 8:22 AM - Mike Kelly: try setting them to 0.0
    May 5, 2015 8:22 AM - jbigler1986: even travel?
May 5, 2015 8:24 AM - Mike Kelly: no no, just the one's that are 0
May 5, 2015 8:24 AM - Mike Kelly: for some reason 0.0 worked better than 0
    May 5, 2015 8:24 AM - jbigler1986: they are at 0.0 sorry
    May 5, 2015 8:24 AM - Mike Kelly: oh
    May 5, 2015 8:24 AM - Mike Kelly: then i dunno
May 5, 2015 8:25 AM - Mike Kelly: is it going fast or something?
    May 5, 2015 8:25 AM - jbigler1986: yeah. seems like 60 which is default
    May 5, 2015 8:26 AM - jbigler1986: gcode to set the speed?
May 5, 2015 8:27 AM - Bill Monroe: I just want to say "there is nothing magic about magic numbers"
May 5, 2015 8:27 AM - Bill Monroe: ok, you may move about the cabin...
    May 5, 2015 8:27 AM - Stephen Capistron: blasphemer
    May 5, 2015 8:27 AM - Bill Monroe: :)
May 5, 2015 8:28 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, reality and logic mean absolutely nada to programmers
May 5, 2015 8:28 AM - Bill Monroe: OK, back to homework.
May 5, 2015 8:29 AM - Mike Kelly: how come you're using cura anyways jb
May 5, 2015 8:30 AM - jbigler1986: i was just messing with it seeing if it filled in the gaps that s3d was leaving and it does
    May 5, 2015 8:32 AM - Mike Kelly: gotcha
May 5, 2015 8:33 AM - jbigler1986: changed the overlap in s3d to 60% last night to print the v6.1 shroud. filled in the gaps but printed like crap
    May 5, 2015 8:33 AM - Mike Kelly: geez
    May 5, 2015 8:33 AM - Mike Kelly: are you on 2.2 or 2.1
    May 5, 2015 8:33 AM - jbigler1986: i think 2.2
May 5, 2015 8:33 AM - jbigler1986: looked like 38% was the lowest it would go to fill in the gaps
    May 5, 2015 8:34 AM - jbigler1986: didn't test printed it with that
    May 5, 2015 8:35 AM - jbigler1986: wow. what a horrible sentence that was
    May 5, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
May 5, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't have any clue why your speed wouldn't take
May 5, 2015 8:36 AM - jbigler1986: me either. i turned it down to like 67% on the lcd to print it at the speed it is now

May 5, 2015 8:37 AM - Mike Kelly: maybe just try reslicing it
May 5, 2015 8:38 AM - jbigler1986: does it with anything i slice with in cura
May 5, 2015 8:38 AM - jbigler1986: not a huge deal. just have to be there at the start of a print

    May 5, 2015 8:55 AM - jbigler1986: great choice
May 5, 2015 8:56 AM - Mike Kelly: she'd say "do you really need any?"
May 5, 2015 8:56 AM - jbigler1986: and you would say "Yes so I can print you some stuff"
May 5, 2015 8:58 AM - Stephen Capistron: or "do you really need another pair of shoes / hand bag / wristlet / jacket/ ..."
    May 5, 2015 8:59 AM - jbigler1986: ^
May 5, 2015 8:59 AM - Stephen Capistron: which would be follwed by a look that could kill
May 5, 2015 9:01 AM - JeffTheMess: I print with my daughter, so I tell my wife you don't want to destroy our dad/daughter time
May 5, 2015 9:01 AM - jbigler1986: my wife doesn't really care. i don't really care what she buys so it works out
May 5, 2015 9:02 AM - Stephen Capistron: should parlay that into a second printer so you can compete to produce the best prints

    May 5, 2015 9:15 AM - daniel871: Unless I want to drive 50 miles to buy groceries.
May 5, 2015 9:15 AM - Mike Glass: I will not eat meat from walmart, I hate that place
May 5, 2015 9:16 AM - jbigler1986: Meijer is the best place to go for stuff not grocery related

May 5, 2015 9:24 AM - Mike Kelly: they sometimes sell non-gluten pastas which is nice
May 5, 2015 9:26 AM - Stephen Capistron: the other problem is you'll see something you want, but don't need, and buy it because you know it is cheaper at costco than anywhere else
    May 5, 2015 9:26 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
May 5, 2015 9:26 AM - Mike Kelly: that's how we ended up with an awesome shower head that doesn't fit in the shower we were going to install it in

May 5, 2015 10:04 AM - Stephen Capistron: what about creating gasses?
May 5, 2015 10:04 AM - donhuevo: maybe put that one down as a hobby

May 5, 2015 10:09 AM - Mike Kelly: but getting my designs chopped up and mutilated without approval is starting to get irritating

May 5, 2015 10:11 AM - Mike Kelly: so he asks where she's from "San Diego"
May 5, 2015 10:11 AM - Mike Kelly: without flinching he says "Whales Vagina"
May 5, 2015 10:11 AM - Mike Kelly: she had the most confused/disgusted look on her face
May 5, 2015 10:12 AM - Mike Kelly: you could see those gears turning like "did he just call me a whales vagina"

May 5, 2015 10:24 AM - Bill Monroe: heading back to Jeremy town ina couple of hours... that'll be the end
    May 5, 2015 10:24 AM - jbigler1986: that would do it MK
May 5, 2015 10:26 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm going to finish the carriage for the robo, but have also decided not to use it on new machine
    May 5, 2015 10:26 AM - jbigler1986: revision number 40?

May 5, 2015 10:34 AM - Mike Kelly: time to make an articulating camera arm with remote controls
May 5, 2015 10:34 AM - Stephen Capistron: you really need to put your cam on an arm > http://www.amazon.com/SainSmart-Con...UTF8&qid=1430847283&sr=8-2&keywords=robot+arm

May 5, 2015 10:37 AM - Mike Kelly: oh nice that one uses 9g, i got a bunch of those
May 5, 2015 10:38 AM - Stephen Capistron: Put one of these on the arm to pick off your parts too > http://empirerobotics.com/
May 5, 2015 10:38 AM - Stephen Capistron: then put that raspberry pi to good use
May 5, 2015 10:39 AM - Mike Kelly: versa balls are sweet
May 5, 2015 10:40 AM - jbigler1986: if only i had the time for stuff like that
May 5, 2015 10:42 AM - Mike Kelly: what kind of breakout board would those use
    May 5, 2015 10:42 AM - Mike Kelly: servoshield
    May 5, 2015 10:46 AM - jbigler1986: who has some venison?
    May 5, 2015 10:46 AM - Mike Kelly: you?
    May 5, 2015 10:48 AM - jbigler1986: i wish
May 5, 2015 10:49 AM - Mike Glass: I think I do in my freezer
    May 5, 2015 10:50 AM - jbigler1986: you lucky man you
    May 5, 2015 10:50 AM - Mike Glass: I'd rather have lobster
    May 5, 2015 10:51 AM - Mike Kelly: http://phys.org/news/2015-05-ten-engine-electric-plane-prototype.html
May 5, 2015 10:51 AM - jbigler1986: no way. lobster is delicious. but not as good
May 5, 2015 10:52 AM - Mike Kelly: i had my first full lobster in boston
May 5, 2015 10:52 AM - Mike Kelly: was tasty
May 5, 2015 10:52 AM - Mike Kelly: blew my east coast friends mind when i told her
    May 5, 2015 10:54 AM - jbigler1986: now i want to go to Tucanos
May 5, 2015 10:56 AM - Stephen Capistron: we don't understand that the rest of the country has crap lobster
    May 5, 2015 10:56 AM - jbigler1986: is it cheap there?
    May 5, 2015 10:57 AM - jbigler1986: or still pretty pricey
May 5, 2015 10:57 AM - Mike Kelly: cheap compared to what you'd pay out here...
May 5, 2015 10:57 AM - Stephen Capistron: at the grocery store you can get them for $5-7 per pound
May 5, 2015 10:57 AM - Mike Kelly: the cmos effect is really cool on that video
    May 5, 2015 10:58 AM - jbigler1986: yep that's cheap
May 5, 2015 10:59 AM - Stephen Capistron: a restaurant near us will still charge like $21 for 1/2 pound of lobster cocktail
    May 5, 2015 11:00 AM - Mike Kelly: i think i paid $27 at legal harborside for a 1.5
May 5, 2015 11:00 AM - Mike Kelly: my friend was saying they'd go to the docks and pay $3 for a lobster

May 5, 2015 11:06 AM - Mike Glass: Nice Mike,
    May 5, 2015 11:06 AM - bamhm182: I think I have a problem
May 5, 2015 11:06 AM - Mike Glass: Hey bam
    May 5, 2015 11:06 AM - bamhm182: I got a package from McMaster-Carr this morning with 300 more M3 screws. I'm slowly becoming overrun by them. Haha
    May 5, 2015 11:07 AM - Mike Kelly: i primarily use M3
    May 5, 2015 11:09 AM - bamhm182: They're handy
May 5, 2015 11:09 AM - Stephen Capistron: return those M3s and get some good old #4s
    May 5, 2015 11:09 AM - bamhm182: I think I have roughly 100 of every length though, haha
    May 5, 2015 11:09 AM - bamhm182: Maybe not
    May 5, 2015 11:10 AM - bamhm182: Every length in 5mm increments up until around 35mm. Then I stop until the 10 50mms that I have
    May 5, 2015 11:11 AM - bamhm182: I think I've got some #4s as well, the M3s VASTLY outnumber them though
May 5, 2015 11:11 AM - Mike Kelly: get out stephen, no imperial allowed
    May 5, 2015 11:12 AM - bamhm182: haha
May 5, 2015 11:13 AM - bamhm182: So I went into Ace Hardware a while back looking for some M, whatever, bolts and they looked at me like I was crazy and informed me that nobody uses those
    May 5, 2015 11:14 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
May 5, 2015 11:14 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah no one except the entire rest of the world
May 5, 2015 11:14 AM - Mike Kelly: and the automotive industry
May 5, 2015 11:14 AM - Mike Glass: why would they carry them then?
    May 5, 2015 11:14 AM - bamhm182: Haha
May 5, 2015 11:15 AM - Mike Kelly: mike i'm looking at the fan shroud on the hex hot end
May 5, 2015 11:15 AM - Mike Kelly: it might work but it seems like there's only .6mm of clearance
May 5, 2015 11:15 AM - Mike Glass: what does it look like?
    May 5, 2015 11:15 AM - Mike Glass: .6mm to the bed?
    May 5, 2015 11:16 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
    May 5, 2015 11:18 AM - Mike Kelly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/c1jcfb5o5q65ck2/clearance.PNG?dl=0
May 5, 2015 11:18 AM - Mike Glass: might have to get the nozzle stretcher out.
    May 5, 2015 11:19 AM - Mike Kelly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4n75l6at9bkg75z/Fan Shroud Dual v6.1.STL?dl=0
May 5, 2015 11:19 AM - Mike Kelly: i can modify it a bit, but see if it works
May 5, 2015 11:19 AM - Stephen Capistron: isn't that what a razor blade is for?
May 5, 2015 11:20 AM - Mike Kelly: i prefer files but yes
May 5, 2015 11:20 AM - Mike Kelly: that's why i prefer ABS, easier to modify prototypes
May 5, 2015 11:20 AM - Mike Kelly: pla is so hard
May 5, 2015 11:22 AM - bamhm182: What do you mean it's easier to modify prototypes?
    May 5, 2015 11:22 AM - bamhm182: digitally or in real life?
May 5, 2015 11:22 AM - Stephen Capistron: cut and sand
May 5, 2015 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: in real life
May 5, 2015 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: it "works" much easier, sanding is nice as is drilling/carving
May 5, 2015 11:23 AM - bamhm182: Because my handy dandy Engineering Recalibration Tool (Dremmel) seem to handle PLA quite well
May 5, 2015 11:23 AM - Mike Kelly: pla is so hard it tends to sheer instead of cut or sand
May 5, 2015 11:23 AM - Mike Kelly: dremmel is like a jack hammer though
    May 5, 2015 11:23 AM - bamhm182: Haha, true
    May 5, 2015 11:23 AM - Stephen Capistron: this is fun > http://www.csmonitor.com/Science/2015/0430/Can-noxious-beetle-bursts-make-better-engines-video
May 5, 2015 11:23 AM - Stephen Capistron: and mike though his gas was powerful
May 5, 2015 11:23 AM - Mike Kelly: that doesn't even seem like a real thing
May 5, 2015 11:24 AM - Stephen Capistron: though thought
    May 5, 2015 11:25 AM - bamhm182: Wow, that's crazy
    May 5, 2015 11:31 AM - jbigler1986: Mike PM sent
May 5, 2015 11:32 AM - Mike Kelly: ty sir, i'll make good use of it
    May 5, 2015 11:33 AM - jbigler1986: should have it thursday
May 5, 2015 11:35 AM - Mike Glass: I will give it a try tonight Mike, thanks:)
May 5, 2015 11:36 AM - jbigler1986: yeah it sat a little low so i had to have him modify it a little. works perfectly
May 5, 2015 11:36 AM - Mike Kelly: sure i can probabl tweak it a bit
May 5, 2015 11:36 AM - Stephen Capistron: damn it mike, get it right the first time
May 5, 2015 11:37 AM - Mike Kelly: it was giving me errors when i adjusted it too much
May 5, 2015 11:37 AM - Mike Kelly: i blame the user, my designs always work perfect for me
    May 5, 2015 11:37 AM - Mike Glass: If no worky , I have some 40 mm 100cfm fans I can feed to tubing..lol

May 5, 2015 11:37 AM - Mike Kelly: kinda shockingly slow
May 5, 2015 11:37 AM - Mike Kelly: i've been considering just using compressed air hoses and solenoid valves
May 5, 2015 11:38 AM - Mike Glass: These fans are crazy I will have to post a video of them, holy hell they about take off and fly..
May 5, 2015 11:39 AM - Mike Kelly: whats the thickness?
    May 5, 2015 11:39 AM - Mike Glass: they are 2" thick
    May 5, 2015 11:40 AM - Mike Kelly: omg
    May 5, 2015 11:40 AM - Mike Kelly: it's like a block
    May 5, 2015 11:40 AM - Mike Glass: http://www.yobitech.com/279036_001_HP_Compaq_Hot_Plug_Redundant_Fan_for_DL_p/279036-001.htm
May 5, 2015 11:40 AM - Mike Kelly: i should play around with those 200mm squirrel fans i bought by accident
May 5, 2015 11:41 AM - Mike Kelly: just put those on the Z rods and blow to the middle
May 5, 2015 11:41 AM - Stephen Capistron: is it two fans that are stacked?
    May 5, 2015 11:41 AM - Mike Glass: 60 mm fans I guess
May 5, 2015 11:42 AM - Mike Glass: nope just one
May 5, 2015 11:43 AM - Stephen Capistron: two stacked fans will get you better static pressure => more flow through a nozzle
    May 5, 2015 11:43 AM - Mike Glass: 60mm x 38mm (2.4in x 1.5in) 44CFM fan
    May 5, 2015 11:43 AM - jbigler1986: parts complete
    May 5, 2015 11:43 AM - jbigler1986: and hp? fan? what
    May 5, 2015 11:43 AM - Mike Glass: I have 6 of them
May 5, 2015 11:43 AM - Mike Glass: maybe make that plane you posted earlier
    May 5, 2015 11:44 AM - jbigler1986: server fans?
May 5, 2015 11:44 AM - Mike Glass: with the 20 lithium-ion battery packs I got the other day
May 5, 2015 11:45 AM - Mike Glass: some servers were recylced I pulled the fans and heat sinks
    May 5, 2015 11:46 AM - Stephen Capistron: 12v DC > http://www.mcmaster.com/#2059k12/=x1v4st
    May 5, 2015 11:46 AM - Mike Kelly: 86db at 10ft
May 5, 2015 11:47 AM - Mike Kelly: i wonder what the current draw of that is
May 5, 2015 11:49 AM - Mike Kelly: i think i broke solidworks, i guess it's telling me to take lunch
    May 5, 2015 11:50 AM - jbigler1986: lol
May 5, 2015 11:51 AM - mark tomlinson: Solidworks. Not for the faint of heart.
May 5, 2015 11:52 AM - jbigler1986: MK bootleg it. Your company is taking to long
May 5, 2015 12:01 PM - bamhm182: Those Server fans are beefy, MG. We've got around 6 of them in a couple of our servers. Sounds like a jet is taking off when you boot the server
May 5, 2015 12:02 PM - Mike Glass: yea, you should hear it in the open, with just one, its like a big desk fan for sure.
    May 5, 2015 12:03 PM - bamhm182: I would imagine
May 5, 2015 12:04 PM - bamhm182: Does it feel like it's pushing an insane amount of air? I've never been able to play with one on its own, but I know 6 of them can easily hold a few sheets of paper, even when not anywhere near 100%
May 5, 2015 12:04 PM - bamhm182: Not that I've done that of course, that would be irresponsible...
May 5, 2015 12:05 PM - Mike Glass: its 44 cfm that alot for its small size
May 5, 2015 12:05 PM - Mike Glass: compared to 2.6 the stock robo puts out
    May 5, 2015 12:05 PM - bamhm182: Jesus
May 5, 2015 12:06 PM - bamhm182: What are you using that on? The parts fan?
May 5, 2015 12:06 PM - Mike Glass: I cant wait to hook all of them together and see what happens..lol
May 5, 2015 12:07 PM - Mike Glass: I was thinking about if I could harness the air in a chamber then export it to the robo through tubing.
May 5, 2015 12:07 PM - Mike Kelly: always makes me laugh when mark decides to contribute to the shoutbox
    May 5, 2015 12:07 PM - bamhm182: Hahahaha, seriously
May 5, 2015 12:07 PM - Mike Glass: it would be a good test at least
May 5, 2015 12:07 PM - Mike Kelly: i want to make a smoke machine to see what happens with fan shrouds
May 5, 2015 12:08 PM - bamhm182: I bought an alright little parts fan. Only puts out 8.2 though. Compared to your 44, that's nothing
    May 5, 2015 12:08 PM - Mike Glass: cigar?
May 5, 2015 12:08 PM - Mike Kelly: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11270 hmm it seems like it put out more air than that
    May 5, 2015 12:08 PM - jbigler1986: cuban cigar?
May 5, 2015 12:09 PM - bamhm182: I forget, do you have a bowden setup, or a direct drive, MG?
May 5, 2015 12:09 PM - Mike Kelly: mg's probably the most stock one here
    May 5, 2015 12:09 PM - bamhm182: Alright
    May 5, 2015 12:09 PM - jbigler1986: nope. i am
May 5, 2015 12:09 PM - Mike Glass: Im direct
    May 5, 2015 12:09 PM - jbigler1986: never touched her
May 5, 2015 12:09 PM - Stephen Capistron: those squirrel cage ones can generate some static pressure
    May 5, 2015 12:09 PM - bamhm182: lmao
May 5, 2015 12:10 PM - Mike Glass: yeah static would be better for my Idea
May 5, 2015 12:10 PM - Stephen Capistron: my really hair brained idea is to grab the blower out of a dyson fan
May 5, 2015 12:10 PM - bamhm182: You should definitely go to bowden, mount two of the fans where the direct drive motor is, and have them MK design you a shroud that loops around to the parts. Haha
May 5, 2015 12:10 PM - Stephen Capistron: if you pile the axial fans up you can get some pressure
    May 5, 2015 12:10 PM - Mike Glass: lol
May 5, 2015 12:11 PM - jbigler1986: i don't see the need for anything more than around 6cfm unless you are doing a lot of bridging
    May 5, 2015 12:11 PM - bamhm182: Because can, jb, because can...
May 5, 2015 12:12 PM - Mike Kelly: more power!
    May 5, 2015 12:12 PM - jbigler1986: are they loud MG?
    May 5, 2015 12:13 PM - Mike Glass: um 44cfm loud...hmm hell yea
May 5, 2015 12:13 PM - Mike Kelly: never been inside a server room?
    May 5, 2015 12:13 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
May 5, 2015 12:13 PM - Mike Glass: its bleeding
May 5, 2015 12:13 PM - Mike Kelly: under extrusion
May 5, 2015 12:13 PM - Mike Kelly: when's the last time you seasoned
May 5, 2015 12:13 PM - bamhm182: Does that look like something that could be being caused by the RAMPS overheating?
    May 5, 2015 12:13 PM - bamhm182: RIGHT before that print
May 5, 2015 12:14 PM - Mike Kelly: do you run an oiler
    May 5, 2015 12:14 PM - bamhm182: It's just weird that it doesn't happen until about 35 minutes in
    May 5, 2015 12:14 PM - bamhm182: No
May 5, 2015 12:14 PM - Mike Kelly: might want to
    May 5, 2015 12:14 PM - bamhm182: Not yet anyways
May 5, 2015 12:14 PM - Mike Kelly: also when's the last time you calibrated your e steps
May 5, 2015 12:14 PM - jbigler1986: check the ramps fan. i was to damn lazy to for a few weeks and it was a huge issue
May 5, 2015 12:14 PM - Mike Glass: looks like the top layer nees more?
    May 5, 2015 12:14 PM - jbigler1986: ^
May 5, 2015 12:14 PM - bamhm182: It's also weird that I didn't have any trouble with other filament/projects. It seems like it might just be this pink stuff
May 5, 2015 12:15 PM - Mike Glass: turn up the flow
May 5, 2015 12:15 PM - Mike Kelly: very well could be
May 5, 2015 12:15 PM - Mike Glass: add more top layer and turn up the flow 10%
May 5, 2015 12:16 PM - bamhm182: Well the problem is that it has more and more difficulty extruding until it doesn't extrude at all
May 5, 2015 12:16 PM - bamhm182: I took a better look at it when this happened, and the gear was still turning, but it wasn't going anywhere
May 5, 2015 12:16 PM - Mike Glass: cooling too much?
May 5, 2015 12:17 PM - bamhm182: Hmn... Maybe. I did JUST put the new fan on there yesterday...
May 5, 2015 12:17 PM - Mike Glass: look at your temp history and see if there are any drops on the hotend
    May 5, 2015 12:17 PM - bamhm182: How can I see that?
May 5, 2015 12:17 PM - Mike Glass: what software?
May 5, 2015 12:17 PM - bamhm182: Oh, by the way, I'm not running off of USB
    May 5, 2015 12:18 PM - bamhm182: I'm assuming that I'll probably have to do that, right?
May 5, 2015 12:18 PM - bamhm182: Either way though, my LCD says the current temp, and it never dips too far below 210
May 5, 2015 12:19 PM - Mike Glass: what controller software are you using?
May 5, 2015 12:19 PM - Mike Kelly: run an oiler, calibrate your e_steps, increase top fill layers, clean your hobbed bolt, take 2 tylenol and call us in the morning
May 5, 2015 12:19 PM - jbigler1986: might have a slight clog in your hotend end somewhere too
May 5, 2015 12:19 PM - jbigler1986: haha. go through MK steps first

May 5, 2015 12:20 PM - Mike Glass: or slicer problem
May 5, 2015 12:20 PM - bamhm182: I tried pushing it through manually after it failed yesterday with no luck. I think I'm going to print off some more Gyroids in a different color and see what happens. When I print off 4, it takes about 1:15, so that should be enough time to determine if it's the filament or something else
    May 5, 2015 12:20 PM - bamhm182: I'm running this guy: https://www.printedsolid.com/shop/printer-parts/smart-lcd-controller-xxl/

May 5, 2015 12:21 PM - bamhm182: It's just weird because the ONLY thing that has changed since I was printing out a ton of stuff was the filament, so I'm thinking it might be that
    May 5, 2015 12:21 PM - Mike Kelly: " I was printing out a ton of stuff"
May 5, 2015 12:21 PM - Mike Kelly: then that explains it
    May 5, 2015 12:22 PM - bamhm182: How so?
    May 5, 2015 12:22 PM - jbigler1986: well we just gave him 20 possibilities
May 5, 2015 12:23 PM - Mike Kelly: just because something was working doesn't mean it will continue working
May 5, 2015 12:23 PM - Mike Kelly: if an issue arrises, like jamming, it's generally because of a blockage somewher
May 5, 2015 12:23 PM - Mike Kelly: the seasoning on the nozzle wears off then crystalizes the filament as it passes through causing hard chunks to form on the surface of the nozzle
May 5, 2015 12:23 PM - Mike Kelly: these chunks can break off causing reduced flow or complete jamming
May 5, 2015 12:23 PM - joseph niccoli: How do you start a thread?
    May 5, 2015 12:23 PM - Mike Kelly: "Post"
May 5, 2015 12:24 PM - Mike Kelly: it's at the bottom of the sub forum, ie troubleshooting
May 5, 2015 12:24 PM - Mike Kelly: combine that with the hobbed bolt collecting ground filament reducing it's effectiveness
    May 5, 2015 12:24 PM - jbigler1986: soak it in acetone
May 5, 2015 12:25 PM - bamhm182: Alright, sounds like a plan. I'm planing on doing a complete teardown in a couple days anyways. I'll just wait until then and ensure I clean it really well
May 5, 2015 12:25 PM - bamhm182: In the meantime, I'll look into an oiler
May 5, 2015 12:26 PM - joseph niccoli: Hey mike I tried starting a conversation with you don't know if I did it right tho
May 5, 2015 12:26 PM - jbigler1986: you should get more nozzles. i had a similar issue. changed nozzles and problem solved. then i just cleaned the nozzle
May 5, 2015 12:26 PM - Mike Kelly: smoke is concerning
May 5, 2015 12:27 PM - Mike Kelly: the fan plugs in here joseph: http://i.imgur.com/25qxaXV.jpg
    May 5, 2015 12:27 PM - jbigler1986: smoke?
May 5, 2015 12:27 PM - Mike Kelly: and to print on glass use an adhesive method like aquanet hairspray or glue stick (uhu or pva)
    May 5, 2015 12:28 PM - bamhm182: I like using the big "Elmer's Washable School Glue" sticks
May 5, 2015 12:29 PM - joseph niccoli: Thanks and iv tried a glue stick it works for a bout 10 minutes and then starts to lift up on the corners and eventually comes off the bed completely
May 5, 2015 12:29 PM - Mike Kelly: what kind of glue stick, they don't all work
May 5, 2015 12:29 PM - bamhm182: How heavily are you laying down the glue and what brand are you using?
May 5, 2015 12:29 PM - Mike Kelly: most people prefer hairspray
    May 5, 2015 12:29 PM - jbigler1986: ^^^
May 5, 2015 12:30 PM - bamhm182: I'll probably run over the same spot at least 5 times just to make 100% certain it sticks
May 5, 2015 12:30 PM - joseph niccoli: I'm using scotch permanent glue stick and iv tried lightly putting it on and heavenly putting it on
May 5, 2015 12:30 PM - Mike Glass: glue stick sucks
    May 5, 2015 12:30 PM - bamhm182: Only reason I haven't tried hairspray is I'm afraid it'll get everywhere
    May 5, 2015 12:30 PM - Mike Kelly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xillytt4hjl088y/Fan Shroud Dual Hex.STL?dl=0 mike a present
May 5, 2015 12:30 PM - Mike Kelly: don't say i never did anything for you
May 5, 2015 12:31 PM - jbigler1986: glue does does suck. worked "kind of"
May 5, 2015 12:31 PM - Mike Kelly: only ever used it for nylon
    May 5, 2015 12:31 PM - jbigler1986: errrr glue stick does suck
May 5, 2015 12:32 PM - bamhm182: So in a bowden setup, where would you put the oiler?
May 5, 2015 12:32 PM - Mike Kelly: before the cold end
May 5, 2015 12:33 PM - joseph niccoli: Could it be my bed is to cold?
May 5, 2015 12:33 PM - bamhm182: Alright, that's what I thought, but I wasn't sure since that seems like it would give it trouble passing through the cold end
    May 5, 2015 12:33 PM - bamhm182: What temps are you running?
    May 5, 2015 12:33 PM - joseph niccoli: I have it at 55 degrees
May 5, 2015 12:33 PM - Mike Kelly: and what material?
May 5, 2015 12:33 PM - Mike Kelly: 55 is plenty for PLA
    May 5, 2015 12:33 PM - joseph niccoli: Pla
May 5, 2015 12:33 PM - Mike Glass: Sweet mike. looks like 2mm diff now:()
May 5, 2015 12:33 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, that should be fine then
    May 5, 2015 12:34 PM - Mike Glass: lol :)
May 5, 2015 12:34 PM - joseph niccoli: Ok thanks
May 5, 2015 12:34 PM - Mike Kelly: 1.76mm according to my model
May 5, 2015 12:34 PM - Mike Kelly: should be plenty
May 5, 2015 12:34 PM - joseph niccoli: I'll try your guys solutions and thanks for the help mike :)
    May 5, 2015 12:34 PM - Mike Kelly: sure
May 5, 2015 12:35 PM - jbigler1986: one of these days i am going to get some free time to myself and i will finish the guide and make an lcd one since people keep asking me
May 5, 2015 12:37 PM - daniel871: I've only used blue tape and the heated bed itself so far.
    May 5, 2015 12:37 PM - daniel871: What materials would warrant the hairspray/glue stick?
May 5, 2015 12:38 PM - Mike Kelly: works for abs and pla
May 5, 2015 12:38 PM - daniel871: Hairspray or Kapton Tape for ABS?
May 5, 2015 12:38 PM - Mike Glass: Aquanet is all you need
    May 5, 2015 12:38 PM - Mike Kelly: ^
May 5, 2015 12:38 PM - Mike Glass: or wood glue if your doing nylon
    May 5, 2015 12:38 PM - JeffTheMess: ^
    May 5, 2015 12:38 PM - daniel871: What about for Laywood material?
May 5, 2015 12:38 PM - JeffTheMess: aquanet is best
May 5, 2015 12:39 PM - daniel871: Or is that basically "Blue masking tape" like for PLA?
May 5, 2015 12:39 PM - Mike Glass: wood glue would work for laywood also
May 5, 2015 12:39 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah laywood is mostly PLA still
    May 5, 2015 12:39 PM - daniel871: Same probably applies for the metal-fill stuff?
May 5, 2015 12:39 PM - Mike Glass: wood glue works for everyting but its messy
May 5, 2015 12:40 PM - Stephen Capistron: hairspray for all things
May 5, 2015 12:40 PM - daniel871: Like, Protopasta's Stainless Steel filament or the Bronzefill?
    May 5, 2015 12:40 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
May 5, 2015 12:40 PM - Mike Kelly: hairspray is basically the be all end all
May 5, 2015 12:41 PM - Stephen Capistron: i use a cut up case of wine to keep the spray contained
May 5, 2015 12:41 PM - daniel871: I keep seeing "heated bed set to X *or* tape/glue/hairspray". Has anyone had luck with just the heated bed?
May 5, 2015 12:41 PM - Mike Glass: I need to as Printed if he has any tips on printing Bridge, I keep on getting the fillament tanged in the hob.
    May 5, 2015 12:41 PM - Mike Glass: ask
May 5, 2015 12:42 PM - Mike Kelly: yup you can print on the heated bed but it's only ok
May 5, 2015 12:42 PM - jbigler1986: that's because you are treating it like your hair in the 80's stephen
May 5, 2015 12:42 PM - Mike Kelly: what speeds mike
    May 5, 2015 12:42 PM - Mike Glass: 20-30
May 5, 2015 12:42 PM - daniel871: T-glase did great with just the heated bed, but I figured that was because of the glass-like material being pushed against the heated glass bed that was heated to 68c (really close to T-glase glass transition).
May 5, 2015 12:43 PM - Mike Glass: It will print for 10-20 min then just stop
    May 5, 2015 12:43 PM - Mike Kelly: geez
May 5, 2015 12:44 PM - Mike Glass: I have no fans on and 245 for temp.
May 5, 2015 12:44 PM - Mike Kelly: whats the bed temp
May 5, 2015 12:44 PM - Mike Glass: man that stuff is sweet but cant get a good part
    May 5, 2015 12:44 PM - Mike Glass: 75 on the bed
    May 5, 2015 12:45 PM - daniel871: [IMG]
May 5, 2015 12:45 PM - Mike Glass: I dont know anybody else that has printed nylon on a stock R1
May 5, 2015 12:45 PM - daniel871: Sorry about the chat jump with that, thought it'd thumbnail better.
    May 5, 2015 12:45 PM - Mike Kelly: it's cool
May 5, 2015 12:45 PM - Mike Kelly: nice print
May 5, 2015 12:46 PM - Mike Kelly: mike i'll give it a go tonight

    May 5, 2015 12:46 PM - mark tomlinson: I use bridge at 245.
May 5, 2015 12:46 PM - mark tomlinson: I'd have to go look up the speeds
May 5, 2015 12:46 PM - Mike Glass: it realy was a simple part and even took of retraction
May 5, 2015 12:46 PM - daniel871: Yeah, I liked it. Only problem was that the model had a pin hole in it straight thru the bottom of the cup, thru the stem and out the bottom of the base.
    May 5, 2015 12:46 PM - Mike Glass: off
May 5, 2015 12:46 PM - Mike Kelly: haha design flaw
May 5, 2015 12:47 PM - Mike Glass: lol hot glue time
May 5, 2015 12:47 PM - Mike Kelly: get some of that XTC coating
May 5, 2015 12:47 PM - daniel871: Small enough that water drips out about 1 drop every few seconds.
May 5, 2015 12:47 PM - jbigler1986: is that xtc food safe though
May 5, 2015 12:48 PM - daniel871: I'd do that if I could see where the hole was exactly inside the cup end.
May 5, 2015 12:48 PM - Mike Kelly: xtc is food safe iirc
May 5, 2015 12:48 PM - Mike Kelly: probably more food safe than t-glase :)
    May 5, 2015 12:48 PM - daniel871: I thought T-glase was food safe, just not dishwasher safe.
    May 5, 2015 12:49 PM - jbigler1986: good to know
May 5, 2015 12:49 PM - Mike Kelly: i think tritan is taulmans only food grade plastic
May 5, 2015 12:51 PM - daniel871: "t-glase is specifically made of FDA approved polymers for direct food contact/containers. This includes cups and other liquid storage parts as well as utensils."
May 5, 2015 12:51 PM - Mike Kelly: well there ya go
    May 5, 2015 12:51 PM - daniel871: From Taulman 3D's News page.
May 5, 2015 12:52 PM - daniel871: Now to just print something with solid enough surfaces to retain liquid.
May 5, 2015 12:52 PM - Mike Glass: print with a .8 nozzle you wont have those issues..heh
May 5, 2015 12:52 PM - daniel871: I'm thinking the E3D hotend will handle it better with the .8 nozzle
    May 5, 2015 12:52 PM - daniel871: :p
    May 5, 2015 12:52 PM - Mike Kelly: ^
May 5, 2015 12:52 PM - Mike Kelly: wow the timing on that was insane
    May 5, 2015 12:53 PM - Mike Glass: lol
May 5, 2015 12:53 PM - Mike Glass: I run .8 on my stock all day long
May 5, 2015 12:53 PM - daniel871: For some reason the hexagon end that came on my Robo was coated with some kind of ABS cover that blocked access to the nozzle.
May 5, 2015 12:54 PM - Mike Glass: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:808920 for you minecraft nuts out there.
    May 5, 2015 12:54 PM - daniel871: So that's why I'm going ahead with the modification/upgrade.
May 5, 2015 12:54 PM - Mike Glass: its a silicone casing that hold the thermistor, you can still take the nozzle off.
May 5, 2015 12:56 PM - daniel871: So remove the silicone casing to change the nozzle, and probably drop the thermistor out of the stock hot end?
May 5, 2015 12:56 PM - jbigler1986: e3d has no issues with .8. as MG says. Neither does the hex
May 5, 2015 12:57 PM - daniel871: This stuff was completely around the hotend and stopped at where the taper starts on the nozzle.
May 5, 2015 12:58 PM - daniel871: Kind of like the stuff you'll sometimes see tools coated in (like the wax on end mills, but a good deal more solid).
May 5, 2015 12:59 PM - Mike Glass: strange, do you have pictures?
May 5, 2015 12:59 PM - daniel871: I'll take one when I get home. Is there a thread to post it in?
May 5, 2015 1:00 PM - daniel871: Since this box will probably be on a completely different conversation then.
May 5, 2015 1:00 PM - daniel871: May end up just putting some pics together for a post in the general thread about upgrading the E3D on the Robo R1.
May 5, 2015 1:00 PM - jbigler1986: never. we always stay on topic
    May 5, 2015 1:01 PM - Stephen Capistron: look a butterfly
    May 5, 2015 1:01 PM - daniel871: Squirrel!
May 5, 2015 1:01 PM - Mike Glass: ohh sparkely
May 5, 2015 1:02 PM - Mike Glass: Hopefully I will have a laser cutter for the Multi/cnc soon.
    May 5, 2015 1:02 PM - jbigler1986: well did you order it?
May 5, 2015 1:06 PM - daniel871: Should've asked Printed Solid for a handful of those extra wire crimping ferrules and heat-shrink tubes for wiring up the other ends of the wires that come off of the E3D
May 5, 2015 1:08 PM - jbigler1986: just clip of the connectors but leave a little wire to solder to. problem solved
May 5, 2015 1:08 PM - Mike Glass: brb have to get some mats for dirt cheap.
May 5, 2015 1:09 PM - jbigler1986: then they will plug into the other half of the connector
    May 5, 2015 1:14 PM - daniel871: No soldering gun to use.
    May 5, 2015 1:15 PM - jbigler1986:
May 5, 2015 1:15 PM - daniel871: I liked how easy it was to do the hotend connections though.
May 5, 2015 1:16 PM - daniel871: It's on my list of stuff to get along with a dremel tool and some polishing/sanding attachments for when I print stuff in fake Bronze and SST.
May 5, 2015 1:16 PM - jbigler1986: you can get a cheap soldering iron kit for lik 10 bucks
May 5, 2015 1:17 PM - daniel871: Yeah, but what if I want to actually use what I buy for stuff beyond the one thing here.
May 5, 2015 1:18 PM - daniel871: Just saw the OctoPi posting below, holy crap.
    May 5, 2015 1:18 PM - daniel871: The upgrades never end.
May 5, 2015 1:18 PM - jbigler1986: it will work for soldering whatever you need to solder
    May 5, 2015 1:18 PM - jbigler1986: mostly anyways
May 5, 2015 1:19 PM - jbigler1986: tried the octopi. not that great
May 5, 2015 1:19 PM - Stephen Capistron: if you really want get a fancy temperature control one
May 5, 2015 1:19 PM - Stephen Capistron: can smooth out the plastic a bit with it
May 5, 2015 1:20 PM - jbigler1986: if you don't have a fancy one already you won't need it most likely
May 5, 2015 1:22 PM - jbigler1986: i have soldered like 20 wires on my robo so far
May 5, 2015 1:26 PM - daniel871: I kind of preferred the mechanical clamping and the only heating/melting being where the shrink tubing was melted shut with a lighter I had on hand (like, one second shot of flame, sealed and done).
    May 5, 2015 1:28 PM - jbigler1986: that's no fun
    May 5, 2015 1:28 PM - bamhm182: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AWUFVY8/
May 5, 2015 1:28 PM - bamhm182: I purchased one of those a while back after getting fed up with my crappy radioshack soldering iron
    May 5, 2015 1:29 PM - bamhm182: That thing's awesome
May 5, 2015 1:30 PM - bamhm182: It's got a short hotend on it, so even though I shake like Michael J Fox, I can still use it well
May 5, 2015 1:31 PM - bamhm182: The stand that it comes with it fantastic too, and since the base for it is pretty heavy, I no longer have to worry about the dog walking by and knocking it onto herself then burning the carpet
    May 5, 2015 1:31 PM - jbigler1986: yeah he doesn't need one that intense
May 5, 2015 1:32 PM - bamhm182: I don't need one that intense, but it sure is nice to have
May 5, 2015 1:32 PM - jbigler1986: the other option is to crimp connectors
    May 5, 2015 1:34 PM - bamhm182: http://www.amazon.com/ProsKit-900-015-Helping-Hands-Soldering/dp/B002PIA6Z4
May 5, 2015 1:34 PM - bamhm182: So even if you don't get a really nice soldering iron, I highly recommend these
May 5, 2015 1:34 PM - bamhm182: They're not the best helping hands, but they certainly do a good job of helping me solder
May 5, 2015 1:35 PM - bamhm182: The only real problem that I have with those is that the alligator clips are hollow where they connect to the body. This means that the bolt holding the clips to the body bends them a bit, making them harder to position
    May 5, 2015 1:35 PM - jbigler1986: i have that. rarely use it though
    May 5, 2015 1:37 PM - bamhm182: http://www.amazon.com/SE-MZ101B-Helping-Hand-Magnifier/dp/B000RB38X8
    May 5, 2015 1:37 PM - jbigler1986: that actually the one i have
May 5, 2015 1:37 PM - bamhm182: I like the design on this one better, which gave me the idea to try and print out some connectors like that one uses and superglue them to the alligator clips
    May 5, 2015 1:38 PM - jbigler1986: the magnifying glass sucks though
May 5, 2015 1:38 PM - bamhm182: I use them all the time. Like I said, I shake terribly, so it is a lot easier when something else is holding the wires and all I have to worry about is the solder and the iron
May 5, 2015 1:41 PM - Mike Glass: duct tape works too
May 5, 2015 1:42 PM - jbigler1986: I am use to soldering tiny tiny points on motherboards
    May 5, 2015 1:44 PM - jbigler1986: @Daniel you could get some of this http://www.radioshack.com/radioshack-graphite-filled-conductive-wire-glue/6400146.html#.VUkrp_lVhBc
    May 5, 2015 1:45 PM - bamhm182: I thought radioshack went out of business a while back
    May 5, 2015 1:45 PM - jbigler1986: not all stores closed
    May 5, 2015 1:45 PM - jbigler1986: most did though
    May 5, 2015 1:46 PM - bamhm182: oh
May 5, 2015 1:46 PM - jbigler1986: that was just an example though
May 5, 2015 2:07 PM - Mike Glass: yeah its finally raining.
May 5, 2015 2:10 PM - Mike Kelly: raining here pretty well
May 5, 2015 2:11 PM - Mike Kelly: my friend in lubbock was saying it's flooding right now: http://lubbockonline.com/slideshow/2015-05-05/aerial-view-flooding#slide-1
May 5, 2015 2:11 PM - Mike Kelly: 22% of the annual rainfall in like 12 hours
May 5, 2015 2:15 PM - Mike Glass: this is the first rain since it has snowed and that been awhile ago
May 5, 2015 2:15 PM - Mike Glass: kill me the lack of infrastructure the build these days.
May 5, 2015 2:16 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah lubbock has NO drainage
May 5, 2015 2:16 PM - Mike Kelly: it's a disaster every time it rains

May 5, 2015 2:19 PM - Les Hall: and a few nice ladys
May 5, 2015 2:19 PM - Les Hall: got the part on order to fix my Printrbot
    May 5, 2015 2:20 PM - Les Hall: and a nozzle kit with a 1mm nozzle
May 5, 2015 2:20 PM - Mike Kelly: what was wrong with it
May 5, 2015 2:20 PM - Les Hall: will speed up prints by a factor of 3 over a 0.4mm nozzle
May 5, 2015 2:20 PM - Les Hall: the hot end broke
May 5, 2015 2:20 PM - Les Hall: heater cartridge leads had become brittle
May 5, 2015 2:21 PM - Les Hall: and twisted off when i tried to remove the nozzle
    May 5, 2015 2:21 PM - Mike Kelly: gotcha
May 5, 2015 2:21 PM - Les Hall: so it should be ok once i replace the hot end (Ubis)
May 5, 2015 2:22 PM - bamhm182: Hey Les, long time no see
May 5, 2015 2:22 PM - Les Hall: hi bam
    May 5, 2015 2:22 PM - Les Hall: ltns
    May 5, 2015 2:22 PM - bamhm182: You doing better?
    May 5, 2015 2:22 PM - Les Hall: yeah
May 5, 2015 2:22 PM - Les Hall: much better
    May 5, 2015 2:22 PM - bamhm182: Glad to hear it
May 5, 2015 2:22 PM - Les Hall: got in a nursing home with good care
    May 5, 2015 2:22 PM - bamhm182: 1mm nozzle? MG, you've got work to do!
    May 5, 2015 2:23 PM - Les Hall: what?
May 5, 2015 2:23 PM - Les Hall: i'm tired of ten hour prints
May 5, 2015 2:23 PM - Les Hall: and three hour prints
May 5, 2015 2:24 PM - bamhm182: MG has been going on about his 0.8mm nozzle
May 5, 2015 2:25 PM - Les Hall: oh, the speed?
    May 5, 2015 2:25 PM - bamhm182: Yeah
    May 5, 2015 2:25 PM - bamhm182: and the strength
    May 5, 2015 2:25 PM - Les Hall: i KNOW!
    May 5, 2015 2:25 PM - Les Hall: i tested it on slicer, i'll get a 3X boost
May 5, 2015 2:26 PM - Les Hall: i thought it would be 6X but apparently there are other factors
    May 5, 2015 2:30 PM - Mike Kelly:
    May 5, 2015 2:31 PM - jbigler1986: Torque wrench works perfectly
May 5, 2015 2:32 PM - jbigler1986: Thought I was going to break one of the wings pressing it into the part
May 5, 2015 2:35 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i know what you mean
May 5, 2015 2:38 PM - Les Hall: oh, i made plans for a cardboard cutout parabolic dish to boost cell phone signals
May 5, 2015 2:38 PM - Mike Kelly: my manager was asking me how much it would cost to upgrade my desktop
May 5, 2015 2:38 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm thinking i need to investigate dual xeon processors
May 5, 2015 2:39 PM - Les Hall: you should get dual NEON processors. then you'd have more desk lighting
    May 5, 2015 2:39 PM - bamhm182: Haha, you absolutely should
May 5, 2015 2:39 PM - Les Hall: or dual PEON processors and you'd have a pair of helpers
    May 5, 2015 2:40 PM - Mike Kelly: lmao
May 5, 2015 2:40 PM - Les Hall: to you know, help with things
    May 5, 2015 2:40 PM - bamhm182:
    May 5, 2015 2:40 PM - Les Hall: :O
    May 5, 2015 2:40 PM - bamhm182: Go with Barnacules' build there
May 5, 2015 2:40 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah his PC is ludicrous
May 5, 2015 2:40 PM - bamhm182: Seriously. I don't even want to know how much that thing cost
    May 5, 2015 2:40 PM - Mike Kelly: i saw 10k somewhere
May 5, 2015 2:41 PM - Mike Kelly: if you were to buy it outright
    May 5, 2015 2:41 PM - bamhm182: Jesus christ
    May 5, 2015 2:41 PM - jbigler1986: 10 grand
May 5, 2015 2:41 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm sure he got it for nothing or close to it
    May 5, 2015 2:41 PM - jbigler1986: He paid 0 for it though
    May 5, 2015 2:41 PM - bamhm182: How? Because of the advertisement?
    May 5, 2015 2:41 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
    May 5, 2015 2:41 PM - bamhm182: Man....
    May 5, 2015 2:42 PM - bamhm182: I need to become a famous Youtube personality
    May 5, 2015 2:42 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
    May 5, 2015 2:42 PM - Mike Kelly: :effort:
    May 5, 2015 2:42 PM - bamhm182: 1. Get famous on Youtube. 2. ??? 3. Profit
May 5, 2015 2:42 PM - Mike Kelly: there really is no step 2
    May 5, 2015 2:42 PM - jbigler1986: Damn you Mike
    May 5, 2015 2:43 PM - Mike Glass: What?
May 5, 2015 2:43 PM - Mike Kelly: holy shit
    May 5, 2015 2:43 PM - jbigler1986: MK
    May 5, 2015 2:43 PM - Mike Kelly: he's up to 430k subscribers
May 5, 2015 2:43 PM - bamhm182: I'm reviewing questions for this test I have tomorrow. Some of them are so stupid
May 5, 2015 2:43 PM - Les Hall: you know, when he got his Ultimaker he "threw" his ROBO3D across the room (in the video) but it looked like someone caught it or it landed on soft stuff
May 5, 2015 2:43 PM - bamhm182: What is considered the computer's main storage? RAM, ROM, BIOS, CMOS
    May 5, 2015 2:44 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
May 5, 2015 2:44 PM - bamhm182: They're going for RAM, but who considers that the computer's main storage?
May 5, 2015 2:44 PM - Les Hall: CROM because CROM never forgets
May 5, 2015 2:44 PM - Mike Kelly: CMOS is definitely the answer
    May 5, 2015 2:44 PM - Mike Glass: CMOSOSOSOS
    May 5, 2015 2:44 PM - bamhm182: Haha, definitely
    May 5, 2015 2:44 PM - Mike Kelly: that's a bad question though
May 5, 2015 2:44 PM - Les Hall: not CRAM because you forget everything you CRAM
May 5, 2015 2:45 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, and there are a ton of them
May 5, 2015 2:45 PM - Mike Kelly: christ the mobo is barnacules's computer is $550 by itself
May 5, 2015 2:45 PM - bamhm182: There's some that you can tell they literally just copied out of the book and added a question mark
May 5, 2015 2:46 PM - bamhm182: I don't see any right now, but I'll let you know when I run across one
May 5, 2015 2:46 PM - Mike Kelly: who wants to help me pick out parts for an absolutely ridiculous CAD PC
May 5, 2015 2:46 PM - Les Hall: could be the RUM or the DRUM, both of which work together when you think about it
    May 5, 2015 2:46 PM - bamhm182: I can't even... That's like half of what my current build cost >_<
May 5, 2015 2:47 PM - Les Hall: but you know, I'm going back to CORE memory myself
May 5, 2015 2:47 PM - bamhm182: And the ONLY thing I've had trouble running at all is GTA V maxed, but that's just because my GPUs are a little lacking
May 5, 2015 2:47 PM - Les Hall: yep, gonna print my own CORE RAM with magnetic iron filament and conductive carbon fiber filament
    May 5, 2015 2:47 PM - Les Hall: lol
May 5, 2015 2:47 PM - Les Hall: CAN do that for sure!
May 5, 2015 2:47 PM - bamhm182: I know that when I've been drinking a bit too much RUM, I use a lot of things like a DRUM
May 5, 2015 2:48 PM - Les Hall: yep, me too
May 5, 2015 2:48 PM - Les Hall: you know, we can actually print CORE RAM now?
    May 5, 2015 2:48 PM - Les Hall: heheheheheh
    May 5, 2015 2:48 PM - Mike Kelly: looks like his 2 onboard SSD's are 440/ea
May 5, 2015 2:48 PM - Les Hall: that is so cool

May 5, 2015 2:49 PM - Les Hall: i am SO gonna get me some of that stuff!
    May 5, 2015 2:49 PM - bamhm182: What size are they?
    May 5, 2015 2:49 PM - Mike Kelly: 512
    May 5, 2015 2:49 PM - bamhm182: Dang
    May 5, 2015 2:49 PM - Mike Kelly: but insane r/w speeds
May 5, 2015 2:49 PM - Les Hall: Printed Solid will carry it soon
May 5, 2015 2:49 PM - Mike Kelly: his "storage" drive is 1tb for $400
May 5, 2015 2:50 PM - Mike Kelly: god his computer is bonkers
    May 5, 2015 2:50 PM - bamhm182: I bought a 32GB mSATA to use as a recovery hard drive
    May 5, 2015 2:50 PM - bamhm182: That thing is awesome
May 5, 2015 2:50 PM - bamhm182: I've got Windows 7/8.1 Installation Media, Hiren's Boot CD, Ubuntu, a few AV scanners, and Paragon backup on it
    May 5, 2015 2:51 PM - Mike Kelly: all on 32gigs?
May 5, 2015 2:51 PM - bamhm182: So if my computer goes tits up for whatever software reason, I can reboot and fit it without having to track down a ton of software and/or burn it to discs
    May 5, 2015 2:51 PM - bamhm182: Yeah
    May 5, 2015 2:51 PM - bamhm182: The Ubuntu Live CD
    May 5, 2015 2:52 PM - bamhm182: not actually installed
    May 5, 2015 2:52 PM - bamhm182: I've still got like 18GB free too
May 5, 2015 2:53 PM - bamhm182: Oh, and apparently I also put the Solaris installation disc on there too, though I don't think I got that to work right
May 5, 2015 2:53 PM - Mike Kelly: i might be mistaken but it looks like the processors in his rig run at 2k
May 5, 2015 2:54 PM - Les Hall: you guys are going in the wrong direction
May 5, 2015 2:54 PM - Les Hall: i want to go RETRO
May 5, 2015 2:54 PM - bamhm182: It took me a minute to figure out what you were talking about. $2,000 didn't even register as a CPU price for a minute. Haha
May 5, 2015 2:54 PM - Les Hall: blast from the PAST
    May 5, 2015 2:54 PM - Mike Kelly: that's per processor to
May 5, 2015 2:54 PM - Les Hall: because "the future's uncertain and the end is always near"
    May 5, 2015 2:55 PM - bamhm182: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Channel-Act...233?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item359f39a2b1
    May 5, 2015 2:55 PM - bamhm182: There you go, Les
    May 5, 2015 2:55 PM - Mike Kelly: 1.5-2k
    May 5, 2015 2:55 PM - Les Hall: click!
May 5, 2015 2:55 PM - Mike Kelly: can that thing run solidworks?
May 5, 2015 2:55 PM - bamhm182: Why would you even need that much power? >_<
May 5, 2015 2:55 PM - Mike Kelly: well the question isn't why would you need that much power
May 5, 2015 2:55 PM - Les Hall: hahhaah no, i mean REALLY retro
May 5, 2015 2:56 PM - Mike Kelly: but rather why would you pay that much for that power
May 5, 2015 2:56 PM - Les Hall: retro active
May 5, 2015 2:56 PM - bamhm182: I mean, I know, Video Processing takes a lot and he does a lot of that, but still. That's overkill no matter how you look at it
May 5, 2015 2:56 PM - Les Hall: you guys um, you do know what CORE memory is, of course?
    May 5, 2015 2:56 PM - bamhm182: I actually don't
    May 5, 2015 2:56 PM - Les Hall: oh
    May 5, 2015 2:57 PM - bamhm182: Looked into it
May 5, 2015 2:57 PM - bamhm182: You definitely need that in your build
    May 5, 2015 2:57 PM - Les Hall: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic-core_memory
    May 5, 2015 2:58 PM - bamhm182: I had never heard of that before
May 5, 2015 2:58 PM - Les Hall: well, you know, to build a cutesy gizmo featuring 3d printed CORE memory would be awesome
    May 5, 2015 2:59 PM - bamhm182: Yeah it would
    May 5, 2015 2:59 PM - bamhm182: I don't know how you'd pull it off though
May 5, 2015 2:59 PM - Les Hall: that and stuff like that is why i like that new splicer thingie on kickstarter
May 5, 2015 2:59 PM - Les Hall: the Palette
May 5, 2015 3:00 PM - Les Hall: turns almost ANY 3d printer into a quad material printer
    May 5, 2015 3:00 PM - Les Hall: huh
May 5, 2015 3:01 PM - bamhm182: Man, I have no idea how people even think of this stuff
    May 5, 2015 3:01 PM - Les Hall: it's a wild thing yes?
May 5, 2015 3:01 PM - bamhm182: I'm sitting here looking at the module they have a picture of, and it would have never occurred to me in a billion years to try something like that
May 5, 2015 3:02 PM - Les Hall: what, the Palette?
May 5, 2015 3:02 PM - Mike Kelly: well they certainly don't do it alone
    May 5, 2015 3:03 PM - bamhm182: Yeah
    May 5, 2015 3:04 PM - bamhm182: That's a good point
May 5, 2015 3:04 PM - Les Hall: imaginig core memory devices
    May 5, 2015 3:04 PM - Les Hall: imagining
May 5, 2015 3:05 PM - jbigler1986: Damn. Need to print a socket adapter now
May 5, 2015 3:06 PM - Mike Kelly: lol it's pouring rain out any my dog wanted to go outside, mostly to sniff, but she takes like 2 steps out, is like "Nope" and comes back inside
    May 5, 2015 3:08 PM - jbigler1986: That's funny
May 5, 2015 3:10 PM - jbigler1986: Now idk what to print after this
    May 5, 2015 3:10 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:795952
    May 5, 2015 3:17 PM - jbigler1986: Saw that. Hmmm
May 5, 2015 3:18 PM - bamhm182: I know what you need to print after that
May 5, 2015 3:18 PM - bamhm182: A housing for the stepper motor that turns the elevator
    May 5, 2015 3:18 PM - jbigler1986: What
    May 5, 2015 3:18 PM - jbigler1986: There is an idea
May 5, 2015 3:18 PM - bamhm182: I saw that yesterday and was thinking about how cool it would be to automate that.
May 5, 2015 3:18 PM - Mike Kelly: you could just use a small dc servo
May 5, 2015 3:19 PM - jbigler1986: They have really small steppers at frys
May 5, 2015 3:19 PM - bamhm182: I should become more well versed in these things
    May 5, 2015 3:20 PM - bamhm182: I don't know nearly enough about servos, motors, etc.
    May 5, 2015 3:20 PM - jbigler1986: Me either
May 5, 2015 3:20 PM - Mike Kelly: man walter makes some kick ass designs
May 5, 2015 3:20 PM - Mike Kelly: steppers need a driver chip
    May 5, 2015 3:20 PM - bamhm182: walter on thingiverse?
    May 5, 2015 3:20 PM - Mike Kelly: right
May 5, 2015 3:21 PM - bamhm182: Tried to find him. Got a TON of breaking bad stuff. Haha
    May 5, 2015 3:21 PM - bamhm182: So servos don't?
May 5, 2015 3:21 PM - bamhm182: They're just "Apply electricity and let it do its thing"?
    May 5, 2015 3:21 PM - Mike Kelly: correct
May 5, 2015 3:21 PM - Mike Kelly: the voltage affects the speed it operates at
    May 5, 2015 3:21 PM - jbigler1986: Hmm
May 5, 2015 3:22 PM - Mike Kelly: so using a trimpot you can decently adjust the voltage and thus speed
May 5, 2015 3:22 PM - Mike Kelly: there's some nuances to running at low speeds
    May 5, 2015 3:22 PM - Mike Kelly: i think it's called wind up
May 5, 2015 3:22 PM - Mike Kelly: that's why you'll see in some g-code "Blip fan to full voltage"
    May 5, 2015 3:22 PM - jbigler1986: http://www.frys.com/product/5230077
May 5, 2015 3:23 PM - Mike Kelly: i guess the nomenclature is a bit convoluted, but basically i mean dc brushless motors
May 5, 2015 3:27 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm not entirely sure how servos vary
May 5, 2015 3:27 PM - Mike Kelly: i think a certain voltage indicates the position it's supposed to be in
May 5, 2015 3:31 PM - bamhm182: I seriously need to get back into school considering the Air Force will currently pay for it
May 5, 2015 3:32 PM - bamhm182: I'm thinking Electrical Engineering would be a cool path to take
May 5, 2015 3:32 PM - Mike Kelly: it's insanely difficult but the payoff is well worth it
May 5, 2015 3:33 PM - bamhm182: Is that what you went to school for?
    May 5, 2015 3:34 PM - Mike Kelly: i did mechanical
May 5, 2015 3:34 PM - Mike Kelly: i'd have done electrical if i thought i could cut it
May 5, 2015 3:35 PM - Mike Kelly: or was willing to do it i suppose

May 5, 2015 3:35 PM - bamhm182: The hard part about going to school in the military is the fact that you need to find a school that's as flexible as your schedule needs to be
    May 5, 2015 3:36 PM - Mike Kelly: totally
May 5, 2015 3:36 PM - bamhm182: I mean, right now we're on 12-hour shift that rotate every couple of months, but I could literally go into work tomorrow and be told "Hey, as of next week we're doing 3 8-hour shifts"
May 5, 2015 3:36 PM - bamhm182: So that pretty much limits me to online colleges, which are never the best
May 5, 2015 3:38 PM - Mike Kelly: some colleges will let you take some classes online then finish the full degree at the university
May 5, 2015 3:39 PM - bamhm182: Still though, I'm planning on staying in until they tell me to pack my bags, so I'm probably going to have to stick with online for now
May 5, 2015 3:39 PM - Mike Kelly: fair enough
May 5, 2015 3:39 PM - bamhm182: When I do get out though, I'll have my GI Bill, which I can then use for some actual college work
May 5, 2015 3:40 PM - bamhm182: Seriously doubt I'm going to be starting a family soon, if ever, so that GI Bill shouldn't be going to anyone else
May 5, 2015 3:40 PM - Mike Kelly: always better to invest in yourself anyways
    May 5, 2015 3:41 PM - bamhm182: Yup
May 5, 2015 3:42 PM - bamhm182: If there's one thing you can always count on, it's that you're going to be with yourself for the rest of your life. Life changes in crazy ways, but there's always that
May 5, 2015 3:43 PM - bamhm182: Looking into walter's stuff on thingiverse now. He definitely does have a few things I need to add to my to-print list
May 5, 2015 3:46 PM - Mike Kelly: oh man lame, my thread on the chimera/cyclops disappeared on the e3d forum :(
    May 5, 2015 3:51 PM - bamhm182: Why?
May 5, 2015 3:51 PM - bamhm182: Nobody bumped it in a while, or it was actually removed?
May 5, 2015 3:52 PM - Mike Kelly: i don't think old threads are removed, it's just gone
May 5, 2015 3:52 PM - Mike Kelly: no trace of it
    May 5, 2015 3:55 PM - Mike Kelly: tim doesn't know
    May 5, 2015 3:56 PM - jbigler1986: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:629944
    May 5, 2015 3:56 PM - bamhm182: Weird
May 5, 2015 3:56 PM - jbigler1986: can someone load that and tell me if it looks big to them
May 5, 2015 3:56 PM - Mike Kelly: the preview makes it look big
    May 5, 2015 3:57 PM - bamhm182: Not really, no
    May 5, 2015 3:57 PM - bamhm182: Not to me anyways
May 5, 2015 3:57 PM - jbigler1986: i loaded it in cura. looked big. maybe that's just me
May 5, 2015 3:58 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm trying to load it in solidworks to measure
May 5, 2015 3:58 PM - bamhm182: I was looking at it in Simplify3D and the rough looking heart piece I linked a picture of earlier was still in there, compared the sizes and it looks about right
May 5, 2015 3:58 PM - Mike Kelly: says the diameter is 24mm which seems big
May 5, 2015 3:59 PM - bamhm182: But then again, that's just off of Eyeballing it
    May 5, 2015 3:59 PM - Mike Kelly: the 1/2" side is actually .787
    May 5, 2015 3:59 PM - jbigler1986: yeah i thought it looked big
    May 5, 2015 3:59 PM - bamhm182: Well nevermind then, as I was
    May 5, 2015 4:00 PM - Mike Kelly: 0.41732284in ID
May 5, 2015 4:00 PM - jbigler1986: wonder how much it needs scaled to get it correct
May 5, 2015 4:02 PM - jbigler1986: what is the scale to go from inches to mm
    May 5, 2015 4:02 PM - jbigler1986: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:141690/#instructions
May 5, 2015 4:05 PM - bamhm182: you can multiply inches by 25.4 to get mm or you can divide mm by 25.4 to get inches
    May 5, 2015 4:12 PM - jbigler1986: i can't figure it out. scatter brain right now
May 5, 2015 4:14 PM - bamhm182: What are you trying to figure out?
    May 5, 2015 4:15 PM - bamhm182: 1/4" is 6.35mm. 1/2" is 12.7mm
    May 5, 2015 4:15 PM - jbigler1986: idk how to scale this one http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:141690
    May 5, 2015 4:16 PM - jbigler1986: load it up. it's freaking huge
    May 5, 2015 4:18 PM - bamhm182: I'd say it's about right for being created in inches
May 5, 2015 4:19 PM - bamhm182: I'd probably make it a SMIDGE smaller in the x/y direction just to make sure it prints right
May 5, 2015 4:19 PM - bamhm182: Actually no, because if you do that, the 1/4" won't fit right
May 5, 2015 4:20 PM - bamhm182: I'd probably just do a high fill and have my dremel ready. I'd also print it diagonally so that the print lines don't have as much stress on them
    May 5, 2015 4:21 PM - jbigler1986: s3d auto converted it
May 5, 2015 4:32 PM - bamhm182: I converted it manually in blender so I could create a 1/2" cube and a 1/4" cube and it looked fine
May 5, 2015 4:32 PM - bamhm182: I imported it into S3D and it gave the same dimensions
May 5, 2015 4:40 PM - jbigler1986: Scaling it by 25.4 would have made it even bigger right?
    May 5, 2015 4:49 PM - bamhm182: No
    May 5, 2015 4:49 PM - bamhm182: Wait
May 5, 2015 4:51 PM - bamhm182: So Simplify3D saw that it's circumference was 0.6. Since 0.6 mm is TINY, it multiplied 0.6 by 25.4 to get 15.24, which is right
May 5, 2015 4:51 PM - bamhm182: Because the 15.24 is the diameter at its widest part, the part that goes over the 1/4"
May 5, 2015 4:51 PM - bamhm182: Then it shrinks down to 12.7mm over the part that goes inside the 1/2"
May 5, 2015 4:52 PM - bamhm182: So scaling that object by 25.4 made it the right size in mm
May 5, 2015 4:56 PM - bamhm182: I think I'm done studying for this testing period. It's split up into two section, Air Force Stuff (PDG) and career stuff (SKT). Been studying the Air Force stuff a ton, and while I still suck at it, I'd say I could probably get about 60% of the questions right. Took a few practice tests on career stuff and was getting around 85% on there. Internet says that going by last year's standards, I need 45% in both with a minimum of 40% each to promote
May 5, 2015 4:57 PM - bamhm182: Also, I'm wondering where the UPS guy is. On Amazon, it says my filament is supposed to be delivered by 8 PM today. It's 8 PM. I'm fine with it not coming, but I don't want to run to the store and miss him
    May 5, 2015 4:59 PM - jbigler1986: No the part was hige
    May 5, 2015 5:01 PM - bamhm182: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_ZMGg7zgQtGWFpWQ2NOWWg4c2c/view?usp=sharing
May 5, 2015 5:01 PM - bamhm182: I exported it from Blender as the right size in mm, see if that looks right
May 5, 2015 5:03 PM - jbigler1986: Fail. The 1/4 inch part worked perfectly. The 1/2 inch was to large
    May 5, 2015 5:04 PM - bamhm182: You tried printing it?
May 5, 2015 5:04 PM - bamhm182: Or are you saying on the one I sent you?
    May 5, 2015 5:10 PM - jbigler1986: That was the knee s3d auto scaled
    May 5, 2015 5:10 PM - jbigler1986: Knee = one
May 5, 2015 5:11 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, and it's the size it should be as far as I can tell
May 5, 2015 5:11 PM - bamhm182: I mean, worst case scenario, you've printed it out and wasted 20 minutes and $0.07 of filament
May 5, 2015 5:12 PM - bamhm182: The 1/2" part is where it should be as far as I can tell, but it's EXACTLY where it should be and might print out a bit too large and need some sanding
May 5, 2015 5:14 PM - jbigler1986: It would have been a ton of sanding on this one
    May 5, 2015 5:16 PM - jbigler1986: It wasn't even close
May 5, 2015 5:18 PM - Mike Kelly: take the value i sent earlier and measure the ID of a 1/4" socket
May 5, 2015 5:18 PM - Mike Kelly: then use that to find the scaling factor
    May 5, 2015 5:18 PM - jbigler1986: Um. Maybe it's a 3/8 socket. Hmmm
May 5, 2015 5:19 PM - Mike Kelly: the big od doesn't make sense if that's the case
    May 5, 2015 5:19 PM - Mike Kelly: i think it's just scaled wrong
    May 5, 2015 5:19 PM - Mike Kelly: http://i.imgur.com/5lRyISg.jpg
    May 5, 2015 5:20 PM - jbigler1986: Recording time?
May 5, 2015 5:20 PM - Mike Kelly: just about
    May 5, 2015 5:21 PM - jbigler1986: I meant maybe my socket is 3/8th instead of 1/2
    May 5, 2015 5:21 PM - Mike Kelly: oh
    May 5, 2015 5:21 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm
May 5, 2015 5:22 PM - Mike Kelly: i dunno that doesn't make a whole lot of sense either
    May 5, 2015 5:22 PM - Mike Kelly: .41?
May 5, 2015 5:22 PM - jbigler1986: Had to run to the store. I will measure in a few
May 5, 2015 5:25 PM - jbigler1986: It scaled the 1/4 inch part perfectly. So I would assume it would have done the 1/2 inch part correct too. Didn't think about it being 3/8th until now
May 5, 2015 5:26 PM - Mike Kelly: this is why i don't bother much with other users thingiverse files
    May 5, 2015 5:27 PM - Mike Kelly: they're rarely made correctly
    May 5, 2015 5:28 PM - jbigler1986: If it doesn't work it's off to SW
    May 5, 2015 5:53 PM - jbigler1986: Back
May 5, 2015 5:54 PM - Bill Monroe: back too
May 5, 2015 5:56 PM - Mike Kelly: the future
    May 5, 2015 5:58 PM - jbigler1986: it's like .38 inches
    May 5, 2015 5:58 PM - jbigler1986: haha
    May 5, 2015 5:59 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
    May 5, 2015 5:59 PM - Mike Kelly: 3/8 then
    May 5, 2015 5:59 PM - jbigler1986: woops
    May 5, 2015 6:03 PM - jbigler1986: that's what i get for not measuring to begin with
May 5, 2015 6:06 PM - daniel871: Any of you installed the LCD controller screen on the R1?

    May 5, 2015 6:06 PM - daniel871: Sorry, forgot the tags. [IMG]
May 5, 2015 6:07 PM - Mike Kelly: unplug the thing on the right
May 5, 2015 6:07 PM - Mike Kelly: it's for the micro sd slot
    May 5, 2015 6:07 PM - daniel871: Ah.
May 5, 2015 6:07 PM - daniel871: So it can just hang without issues?
    May 5, 2015 6:07 PM - jbigler1986: yep
    May 5, 2015 6:07 PM - daniel871: Cool. I was worried for a second there.
May 5, 2015 6:12 PM - daniel871: Okay. All wired up on the E3D and controller. Now to fire it up and update the firmware.
May 5, 2015 6:15 PM - jbigler1986: holy shit this step file is taking forever to load
May 5, 2015 6:23 PM - daniel871: It would help if I had already downloaded the Arduino IDE to use with Mike's firmware files from the E3D thread.
    May 5, 2015 6:25 PM - jbigler1986: ywhat lcd do you have
May 5, 2015 6:25 PM - daniel871: The one PrintedSolid sells that doesn't require anything special for the firmware. This is for the E3D stuff.
    May 5, 2015 6:40 PM - jbigler1986: Printing a 1/4th to 3/8th adapter now. Lol
    May 5, 2015 6:42 PM - daniel871: This LCD [IMG]
May 5, 2015 6:42 PM - daniel871: The "Oh shit" button didn't print to the right size, but I figure the power switch is just as good an "oh shit" button as any.
May 5, 2015 6:43 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah you need to power cycle if you hit that anyways
May 5, 2015 6:43 PM - daniel871: Okay, Firmware seems to have updated. Only thing is that the hotend fan isn't coming on. Don't know if it's a bad fan or what though.
May 5, 2015 6:44 PM - daniel871: The part cooling fan comes on when toggling it in the MC software.
May 5, 2015 6:44 PM - Mike Kelly: thats always powered when the psu is on
May 5, 2015 6:45 PM - Mike Kelly: so if it's not spinning it might have come unplugged or is damaged
    May 5, 2015 6:45 PM - daniel871: Crap.
    May 5, 2015 6:48 PM - daniel871: So I can't print anything without that fan?
    May 5, 2015 6:49 PM - Mike Glass: http://imgur.com/gGHxIgA @MK
    May 5, 2015 6:50 PM - Mike Glass: she's tight
May 5, 2015 6:52 PM - Mike Glass: no you cannot print without the heatbreak fan.
    May 5, 2015 6:52 PM - daniel871: Double crap.
May 5, 2015 6:53 PM - Mike Glass: well you could but then it would be a nasty mess and you would never get it cleaned out
May 5, 2015 6:53 PM - daniel871: Ah well. I'll open the bottom up again tomorrow and look to see if anything was pulled loose and see if I can find a spare fan somewhere.
May 5, 2015 6:53 PM - daniel871: At least everything else but that fan seems to have done what it was supposed to.
May 5, 2015 6:54 PM - Mike Glass: shut it down unplug it and then plug it back in and see what happens.
    May 5, 2015 6:56 PM - daniel871: Same thing.
May 5, 2015 6:56 PM - Mike Glass: what if you try to spin it manually
May 5, 2015 6:57 PM - Mike Glass: sometimes you can jump start them
May 5, 2015 6:57 PM - daniel871: It doesn't exactly spin freely, but it doesn't take all that much force to spin it either.
May 5, 2015 6:58 PM - daniel871: It stops spinning pretty much immediately after my finger comes off of it. And no, sitting here flicking it into a spin hasn't freed it up into spinning.
May 5, 2015 6:59 PM - Mike Glass: might just be a loose wire, did you check the connector that it plugs into?
May 5, 2015 7:00 PM - Mike Glass: the one on the carriage that is
    May 5, 2015 7:00 PM - daniel871: Yeah.
May 5, 2015 7:00 PM - daniel871: Just switched connections between it and the part cooling fan and the part cooling fan came on immediately.
May 5, 2015 7:00 PM - daniel871: So the fan is broken apparently.
May 5, 2015 7:01 PM - Mike Glass: ahh bummer, yea extra parts on had is always good with these.
May 5, 2015 7:01 PM - Mike Glass: or hand
May 5, 2015 7:01 PM - daniel871: Now to figure out where to get another one. What kind of fan is on the E3D v6 again?
May 5, 2015 7:02 PM - jbigler1986: Any 30mm fan should do. You can put the hex 25mm on for a tep fix
May 5, 2015 7:02 PM - Mike Glass: got me, im all stock
    May 5, 2015 7:02 PM - jbigler1986: 12v fan that is
May 5, 2015 7:02 PM - Mike Glass: yea do yo have your old one
May 5, 2015 7:02 PM - daniel871: The hex 25mm has a different hole spacing. Already looked at that.
May 5, 2015 7:02 PM - Mike Glass: just use one hole
May 5, 2015 7:02 PM - jbigler1986: One screw tight enough will hold
May 5, 2015 7:03 PM - daniel871: I'm going to get one off Amazon Prime and have it here in a couple days. :p
    May 5, 2015 7:03 PM - daniel871: I'd rather fix it than rig it.
    May 5, 2015 7:03 PM - jbigler1986: Get a quiet one
May 5, 2015 7:13 PM - Mike Kelly: mike rotate your heater block 90
May 5, 2015 7:13 PM - Mike Kelly: or print it in abs :)
May 5, 2015 7:14 PM - Mike Kelly: Just finished all the shapes on my nieces letter blocks
    May 5, 2015 7:17 PM - daniel871: Sheesh. 30mm 12v 2-pin fans are apparently rare as hen's teeth.
    May 5, 2015 7:17 PM - daniel871: that or Amazon's search feature sucks.
May 5, 2015 7:18 PM - jbigler1986: 3 pin is fine. Just cut the yellow wire
May 5, 2015 7:19 PM - jbigler1986: MK got an adapter printed and it works perfect. This tool will get some use for sure
May 5, 2015 7:25 PM - Mike Glass: It is in ABS
May 5, 2015 7:26 PM - Mike Glass: just printed my first part with fans..seemed to work fin at 100%
May 5, 2015 7:39 PM - Mike Glass: If I rotate it 90 the wires would be tight. I melted and conformed to the block now..lol
    May 5, 2015 8:11 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
    May 5, 2015 8:12 PM - Mike Kelly: daniel, i buy my 30mm fans from filastruder.com
May 5, 2015 8:13 PM - Mike Kelly: just dropped out the hot end for the video to discover it was leaking
May 5, 2015 8:15 PM - Mike Glass: haha no surprise there.
    May 5, 2015 8:16 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah not a shocker
May 5, 2015 8:16 PM - Mike Kelly: trying to figure out how to get the filament out of the boot
May 5, 2015 8:17 PM - Mike Glass: bake it off
May 5, 2015 8:17 PM - Mike Kelly: like in an oven?
May 5, 2015 8:17 PM - Mike Glass: I just heated it up and used a q-tip with denatured alcohol, cleaned up real nice
May 5, 2015 8:18 PM - Mike Glass: it sticks instantly to the q-tip with the alcohol on there, you will go through about 10 of them.
    May 5, 2015 8:23 PM - Mike Kelly: alrighty
May 5, 2015 8:36 PM - Mike Glass: Hey Printed you around?

May 5, 2015 9:02 PM - bamhm182: It was the pink that was causing issues. Tried the exact same print with the exact same settings, but with red, and it had none of the same issues
    May 5, 2015 9:22 PM - Mike Glass: nice
May 5, 2015 9:31 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, just wish I knew why the pink was consistently failing like 40 minutes in. It's weird...
May 5, 2015 10:22 PM - TechSupportGo: go to sleep
    May 6, 2015 4:27 AM - jbigler1986: Morning
May 6, 2015 4:31 AM - jbigler1986: @MK welcome to the world of that damn boot
May 6, 2015 5:01 AM - Stephen Capistron: Mike didn't tighten everything up before he started. Rookie mistake :p
May 6, 2015 5:02 AM - jbigler1986: yep. Once that boot get filament all over the inside it's a pain to clean
    May 6, 2015 5:13 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/jbigler1986 robot time
May 6, 2015 5:16 AM - Stephen Capistron: i only knew to tighten mine right away because of barnacules video
    May 6, 2015 5:17 AM - jbigler1986: yeah i was to much of a noob
    May 6, 2015 5:30 AM - Bill Monroe: mornin
    May 6, 2015 5:35 AM - jbigler1986: morning
May 6, 2015 5:36 AM - jbigler1986: about to take my youngest to the doctor. ugh
    May 6, 2015 5:36 AM - Bill Monroe: sick?
    May 6, 2015 5:36 AM - jbigler1986: kindergarten shots
    May 6, 2015 5:36 AM - Bill Monroe: ahhh
May 6, 2015 5:37 AM - Bill Monroe: been through that 4 times
    May 6, 2015 5:37 AM - jbigler1986: never a fun experience
May 6, 2015 5:38 AM - Bill Monroe: eh.. depends on the kids and what they're expecting
May 6, 2015 5:38 AM - Bill Monroe: mine never thought much of it..especially my daughters
May 6, 2015 5:39 AM - Bill Monroe: what boot were you guys talking about getting filament stuck in?
May 6, 2015 6:05 AM - Wraith: quick question, just got my R1 yesterday evening and the mini disk was blank...i downloaded the software from the website but was wonering if anything else was supposed to be on the disk that i didn't get?
May 6, 2015 6:06 AM - JeffTheMess: min disk should be empty
May 6, 2015 6:06 AM - JeffTheMess: the sd card right
    May 6, 2015 6:09 AM - Wraith: yes
May 6, 2015 6:10 AM - Wraith: ok, thought software came on it, my mistake
May 6, 2015 6:26 AM - jbigler1986: @Bill the boot on the stock hex hotend
    May 6, 2015 6:27 AM - Bill Monroe: ah.
May 6, 2015 6:28 AM - Bill Monroe: I never had one single problem with the Hex... makes me really sorry I took it off
May 6, 2015 6:33 AM - Stephen Capistron: it isn't a bad hot end. Some of the design decisions leave a little to be desired, but nothing that makes it unusable
May 6, 2015 6:34 AM - JeffTheMess: finally printed some feet for my robo...with extended....feet
May 6, 2015 6:35 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah the hex itself is good. The boot and not securing the thermistor is a bad choice
May 6, 2015 6:36 AM - jbigler1986: Because if it needs serviced for any reason most people have trouble and break the thermistor
May 6, 2015 6:38 AM - Stephen Capistron: the other less desirable choice is the non-standard nozzle
    May 6, 2015 6:39 AM - jbigler1986: Which would be?
May 6, 2015 6:43 AM - Stephen Capistron: i don't like the nozzle only having two flats for a wrench
May 6, 2015 6:47 AM - jbigler1986: Wonder how much it would be for a company to get a deal with e3d to come stock with one of the e3d
    May 6, 2015 6:49 AM - JeffTheMess: shouldn't be too expensive
May 6, 2015 6:50 AM - jbigler1986: Who knows. Maybe e3d doesn't want to go down that road
May 6, 2015 6:51 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, if they did, they would have done so by now
May 6, 2015 6:51 AM - JeffTheMess: they would want anybody to use it instead of being contracted to a single company
May 6, 2015 6:52 AM - jbigler1986: You would think. They would make a nice chunk of change
    May 6, 2015 6:52 AM - JeffTheMess: a very pretty penny
    May 6, 2015 6:59 AM - jbigler1986: Who makes the hex
    May 6, 2015 7:00 AM - Stephen Capistron: http://reprap.org/wiki/Hexagon
May 6, 2015 7:17 AM - Mike Glass: I agree with Stephen, PIA to take the nozzle off compared to the v6 nozzles. Mornin gents
    May 6, 2015 7:21 AM - JeffTheMess: morning Mike G
May 6, 2015 7:22 AM - Stephen Capistron: its annoying to work in a tight space and only have two flats. Imagine if bolts on a car only had two flats
May 6, 2015 7:29 AM - Bill Monroe: the bolts on my car's wheels only have 2 flats... kinda
    May 6, 2015 7:29 AM - bamhm182: Hey guys
    May 6, 2015 7:31 AM - JeffTheMess: hi there
May 6, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Glass: Hey jeff, Bam
May 6, 2015 7:39 AM - Stephen Capistron: well thats what you get for rounding off the other sides
    May 6, 2015 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
    May 6, 2015 7:41 AM - JeffTheMess: morning mike
May 6, 2015 7:41 AM - Mike Kelly: uh jb your fan fell off
    May 6, 2015 7:42 AM - Bill Monroe: Wing Nuts, Steve :)
May 6, 2015 7:42 AM - JeffTheMess: is 50% infill for robo feet overkill?
    May 6, 2015 7:42 AM - Mike Kelly: a little yeah
May 6, 2015 7:43 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah i thought so, oh well its done already
May 6, 2015 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: i think jb's fan wires are gonna get ripped out eventually
May 6, 2015 7:51 AM - Mike Glass: Hey Mikey
May 6, 2015 7:51 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, he is probably racing home to fix it
    May 6, 2015 7:51 AM - jbigler1986: On it
May 6, 2015 7:51 AM - Mike Glass: bet he is
    May 6, 2015 7:51 AM - Mike Glass: lol
May 6, 2015 7:52 AM - jbigler1986: Just left the doctor. Worked out. Lol
May 6, 2015 7:52 AM - Mike Glass: I ran 8 hours last night with the new fan shrouds, worked awesome.
May 6, 2015 7:52 AM - Mike Kelly: sup mike
May 6, 2015 7:52 AM - Mike Kelly: kick ass
May 6, 2015 7:53 AM - Mike Glass: the back one is a litte closer after it melted but should be good.
May 6, 2015 7:53 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah as long as it's not clipping
    May 6, 2015 7:54 AM - Mike Glass: clipping?
May 6, 2015 7:54 AM - Mike Glass: omg jb I think you need longer screws..lol
May 6, 2015 7:54 AM - Mike Kelly: or take off the washer
May 6, 2015 7:54 AM - Mike Kelly: when the fan shroud hits the print
May 6, 2015 7:55 AM - Mike Glass: oh yea its got about 1.5 mm
May 6, 2015 7:55 AM - Mike Glass: Hot glue it jb..
    May 6, 2015 7:56 AM - Mike Kelly: ^
May 6, 2015 7:56 AM - Mike Glass: or JB weld it..
    May 6, 2015 7:56 AM - Mike Kelly: haha he's using bondic
    May 6, 2015 7:57 AM - Mike Glass: hahaha
May 6, 2015 7:58 AM - Mike Glass: ok thats close enought to what I said, I will take the blame..
    May 6, 2015 7:58 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
    May 6, 2015 7:58 AM - jbigler1986: Hell Yeah. Bondic ftw
May 6, 2015 7:59 AM - Mike Kelly: poor robot
    May 6, 2015 7:59 AM - Mike Glass: boooo
May 6, 2015 8:00 AM - jbigler1986: Oh well. It moved the x axis back after resuming. Not the z though.
May 6, 2015 8:01 AM - Mike Glass: I would of still used hot glue
May 6, 2015 8:01 AM - Mike Kelly: i would have used longer screws :)
May 6, 2015 8:01 AM - Mike Glass: ohh good call
May 6, 2015 8:02 AM - jbigler1986: Could have removed the washer. Bondic was the faster solution.
    May 6, 2015 8:02 AM - Mike Kelly: *lazier
    May 6, 2015 8:02 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah
May 6, 2015 8:03 AM - Mike Kelly: probably woulda taken just as long to unscrew but yeah
May 6, 2015 8:03 AM - Mike Kelly: if it works it works
May 6, 2015 8:03 AM - Mike Glass: until it doesnt..
May 6, 2015 8:03 AM - Mike Glass: and thats the way the cookie crumbles

    May 6, 2015 8:04 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
May 6, 2015 8:04 AM - jbigler1986: At least I know it will work. Legs moved great
May 6, 2015 8:05 AM - Mike Glass: is that your mothers day print?
May 6, 2015 8:06 AM - jbigler1986: No. Lol. Son saw it last night and wouldn't stop talking about it
May 6, 2015 8:07 AM - jbigler1986: Unless it can print a gold necklace from tiffanys it's not making a mother's day present
May 6, 2015 8:08 AM - Mike Glass: assuming you had limited time and you had the chance to buy a new printer what would you buy?
    May 6, 2015 8:08 AM - Mike Kelly: UM2
May 6, 2015 8:09 AM - Mike Glass: who in the us sells them?
May 6, 2015 8:10 AM - Mike Glass: guess you can get them from amazon
    May 6, 2015 8:10 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.makershed.com/products/ultimaker-2-3d-printer http://shop3duniverse.com/products/ultimaker-2 http://www.dynamism.com/3d-printers/ultimaker-2.shtml
May 6, 2015 8:10 AM - jbigler1986: If I buy another printer it will probably be another robo and upgrade it
    May 6, 2015 8:10 AM - jbigler1986: Call me crazy
    May 6, 2015 8:11 AM - bamhm182: You're crazy
    May 6, 2015 8:11 AM - bamhm182: Okay, now what?
May 6, 2015 8:11 AM - Mike Kelly: well he didn't say there was a money limit :)
    May 6, 2015 8:11 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, so we're going SLS here
    May 6, 2015 8:11 AM - jbigler1986: To messy
    May 6, 2015 8:12 AM - bamhm182: But the quality though!
May 6, 2015 8:12 AM - Mike Glass: I rather print with nylon or petg then use sls
    May 6, 2015 8:12 AM - jbigler1986: I have no issues with my quality
May 6, 2015 8:13 AM - Mike Glass: Can the UM2 print nylon and petg though?
May 6, 2015 8:13 AM - Mike Kelly: it can print anything that comes in 2.85mm
May 6, 2015 8:13 AM - jbigler1986: If I were to sell stuff a lot I would look into getting something
May 6, 2015 8:14 AM - bamhm182: If I get another 3D printer, it's going to be a Delta for the main reason that they look cool
May 6, 2015 8:14 AM - Mike Kelly: i've wanted a delta to play with
    May 6, 2015 8:16 AM - jbigler1986: Tiko remember
    May 6, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
    May 6, 2015 8:16 AM - bamhm182: Hey, only $180
    May 6, 2015 8:16 AM - bamhm182: Meets my requirements of being a Delta
May 6, 2015 8:17 AM - Mike Kelly: i could build a printer out of old CD drives that would work better
May 6, 2015 8:17 AM - bamhm182: My Robo can look over at it and be like "Awwww, it's so cute!"
    May 6, 2015 8:17 AM - jbigler1986: Challenge?
    May 6, 2015 8:17 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
May 6, 2015 8:18 AM - Mike Kelly: we'll see how much free time i have once the tiko is out
May 6, 2015 8:18 AM - Mike Kelly: right now i have so many projects it makes my head hurt
May 6, 2015 8:23 AM - Mike Kelly: bah, slow internet
May 6, 2015 8:26 AM - Mike Glass: is the UM2 a faster printer then the robo?
May 6, 2015 8:27 AM - Mike Glass: Sucks it doesnt use the same filament though. that could be my downside.
May 6, 2015 8:27 AM - Mike Kelly: much faster
    May 6, 2015 8:27 AM - Mike Kelly: it'll print at like 120-150mm/s
May 6, 2015 8:28 AM - Mike Kelly: can do movement speeds at like 300mm/s
May 6, 2015 8:28 AM - Mike Glass: is that because of the filament size?
May 6, 2015 8:28 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah you'd need a whole new collection of filament :-\
May 6, 2015 8:28 AM - Mike Glass: could I convert the robo?
May 6, 2015 8:28 AM - Mike Kelly: it's due to the carriage design & being bowden
    May 6, 2015 8:28 AM - Mike Kelly: to 3mm? sure
May 6, 2015 8:30 AM - Mike Glass: jeez I have $400 in filament right now, adds up fast.
May 6, 2015 8:30 AM - Mike Glass: well $450 if you include the XT weed wacker string
    May 6, 2015 8:30 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
May 6, 2015 8:31 AM - Mike Glass: damn I could buy more robo's for that price.
    May 6, 2015 8:31 AM - Mike Glass: 3 more
    May 6, 2015 8:32 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
May 6, 2015 8:33 AM - Mike Glass: But then again I dont want to spend 3 months working all the bugs out either.
May 6, 2015 8:34 AM - Mike Kelly: if robo3d offered an upgrade kit for the linear stepper motors, what would you be willing to pay
    May 6, 2015 8:34 AM - jbigler1986: 900
    May 6, 2015 8:34 AM - Mike Glass: $750
    May 6, 2015 8:35 AM - jbigler1986: lol. it's 799 now
May 6, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Glass: Im cheap:)
May 6, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: not the whole printer, just the kit to upgrade existing printers
    May 6, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Glass: $79
May 6, 2015 8:36 AM - jbigler1986: if it's just literally plug and play and upgrade firmware then like $90 tops
May 6, 2015 8:36 AM - Mike Glass: after last nights prints all the way to the top, it did awesome, so not sure changing them will do anything for my printing now.
May 6, 2015 8:36 AM - Mike Kelly: are you getting JB's quality?
    May 6, 2015 8:36 AM - Mike Glass: better
May 6, 2015 8:37 AM - Mike Glass: wait for it
May 6, 2015 8:39 AM - jbigler1986: print the nut and bolt i did then let us know
May 6, 2015 8:39 AM - Mike Glass: bring it on
May 6, 2015 8:39 AM - Mike Glass: I have printed a few bolts just fine.
May 6, 2015 8:40 AM - Mike Glass: abs ones are a little tight
May 6, 2015 8:40 AM - bamhm182: jb, did you say you had written something here about your linear upgrade?
May 6, 2015 8:40 AM - Mike Glass: or look at my robo plotter pen.
May 6, 2015 8:40 AM - jbigler1986: yeah course threaded ones are easy to print
    May 6, 2015 8:42 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.mcmaster.com/#93635a322/=x2ba57
May 6, 2015 8:42 AM - jbigler1986: save the SW file open it in SW then save it as stl
    May 6, 2015 8:43 AM - jbigler1986: then print a matching nut
May 6, 2015 8:43 AM - Mike Glass: what filament, speed, temps.
    May 6, 2015 8:44 AM - jbigler1986: hatchbox, 197 and 40mm/s
    May 6, 2015 8:44 AM - jbigler1986: bed 50
May 6, 2015 8:44 AM - Mike Kelly: did you end up printing the benchy jb?
    May 6, 2015 8:44 AM - jbigler1986: i almost did last night
May 6, 2015 8:45 AM - Mike Glass: what resolution?
    May 6, 2015 8:45 AM - jbigler1986: .1
May 6, 2015 8:45 AM - jbigler1986: probably could have done 2 but i just wanted it to work
May 6, 2015 8:46 AM - Mike Glass: my printer is not tuned for .1 with a .8 nozzle
May 6, 2015 8:46 AM - Mike Kelly: i hear you have other nozzles ;)
    May 6, 2015 8:46 AM - Mike Glass: I know just effin
May 6, 2015 8:50 AM - jbigler1986: i have mine tuned to no post processing on stuff
May 6, 2015 8:51 AM - Mike Glass: I dont see that button
    May 6, 2015 8:51 AM - bamhm182: http://www.amazon.com/SainSmart-Screw-Stepper-Printer-RepRap/dp/B00JTSEFQY
May 6, 2015 8:51 AM - bamhm182: So you were saying you bought two of those, then took apart the current Z-steppers and those and swapped the rods?
May 6, 2015 8:52 AM - Mike Kelly: that's what he did yes
May 6, 2015 8:52 AM - bamhm182: Why not just use the ones from Amazon stock?
May 6, 2015 8:52 AM - jbigler1986: yeah. would have been a very fast upgrade if i would have know that from the start
    May 6, 2015 8:52 AM - jbigler1986: wiring issue
May 6, 2015 8:53 AM - Mike Kelly: they're kinda short, you need an extension piece
    May 6, 2015 8:53 AM - bamhm182: Oh yeah, I remember that now
May 6, 2015 8:53 AM - Mike Kelly: they're not great quality, he had to swap the motor body
May 6, 2015 8:53 AM - Mike Kelly: and the robo ones will work just like the existing setup
May 6, 2015 8:53 AM - Mike Kelly: no need for any adapter
May 6, 2015 8:54 AM - Mike Glass: what nut did you print there are 5 to choose from

May 6, 2015 8:54 AM - bamhm182: So Robo's actually thinking about coming out with a kit, or was that just chat earlier?
    May 6, 2015 8:54 AM - jbigler1986: errr. i would have to check
May 6, 2015 8:55 AM - Mike Kelly: there's rumblings of such, i'm just curious what people would pay
    May 6, 2015 8:55 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.mcmaster.com/#94150a355/=x2bgj3
    May 6, 2015 8:56 AM - jbigler1986: 95% sure on that MG
May 6, 2015 8:56 AM - bamhm182: Gotcha. Well considering those are $45 a pop, and considering that Robo would be able to get them for cheaper. I'd say somewhere in the ballpark of $100 sounds reasonable
May 6, 2015 8:56 AM - Mike Kelly: the benchy prints on the 3d printing community are getting out of hand
May 6, 2015 8:56 AM - Mike Glass: Robo is $765 now on amazon
    May 6, 2015 8:56 AM - jbigler1986: I will print it tonight MK
    May 6, 2015 8:56 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, I saw that the other day
May 6, 2015 8:58 AM - bamhm182: But it's definitely an upgrade that's on my mind now, so it's bound to happen sooner or later. If Robo were to offer an upgrade that would be nearly a direct swap, I'd probably end up going with their solution for convenience, even if it did cost a little bit more
May 6, 2015 8:59 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah no news right now worth sharing, just trying to get traction on the idea
    May 6, 2015 8:59 AM - jbigler1986: it's simple to swap the rod/gear honestly
May 6, 2015 9:00 AM - jbigler1986: they worked with the x wiring which is why it was very odd
May 6, 2015 9:01 AM - Mike Kelly: that is strange
May 6, 2015 9:01 AM - Mike Kelly: i wonder if it was under current
    May 6, 2015 9:01 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.amazon.com/Printer-35mm-...0?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1430928084&sr=1-30 cool
    May 6, 2015 9:02 AM - jbigler1986: i like that
    May 6, 2015 9:02 AM - jbigler1986: nice find
May 6, 2015 9:02 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.amazon.com/Cleaning-Extr...6?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1430928156&sr=1-36 this one has more and includes nozzles
May 6, 2015 9:03 AM - Mike Glass: I would not drill nozzles, you could mess them up fairly easily
    May 6, 2015 9:04 AM - bamhm182: Anyways, I'm off to go test. I'll see y'all later.
May 6, 2015 9:04 AM - Mike Glass: good luck

May 6, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Kelly: i could make that for like $60 tops
    May 6, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Glass: hmm so order those and a $765 robo..hemm
    May 6, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Kelly: don't buy those
May 6, 2015 9:19 AM - jbigler1986: i would give my rods and couplers to anyone

May 6, 2015 9:21 AM - Mike Glass: I will know this weekend if our furniture space gets approved, and the knobs and lights im making I think another printer might be required..lol
    May 6, 2015 9:22 AM - Mike Kelly: ah
May 6, 2015 9:22 AM - Mike Glass: that seems like a good idea actually
May 6, 2015 9:22 AM - jbigler1986: is there still the set screw to hold the thermistor in place on that
    May 6, 2015 9:22 AM - jbigler1986: i mean heater cartridge
    May 6, 2015 9:23 AM - jbigler1986: heat block is huge
May 6, 2015 9:23 AM - Mike Glass: there are 2 set screws so I would say yes
May 6, 2015 9:24 AM - Mike Kelly: it's funny how many toner cartridges are classified under 3d printing
    May 6, 2015 9:25 AM - jbigler1986: that's another small thing i don
May 6, 2015 9:25 AM - jbigler1986: don't like about the hex. is the tiny set screws
