    Sep 27, 2015 7:38 AM - jim3Dbot: LOL
Sep 27, 2015 7:39 AM - Mike Glass: haha, I already had that done
Sep 27, 2015 7:40 AM - jim3Dbot: Eye also, both eyes, when it was $2,500 an eye...and my wife one eye....cost of a Hugo
    Sep 27, 2015 7:42 AM - jim3Dbot: 20+ years ago...
    Sep 27, 2015 7:44 AM - jim3Dbot: I better go get something done...............take care
Sep 27, 2015 7:44 AM - Mike Glass: ok see ya later
Sep 27, 2015 7:44 AM - Mike Glass: me too
    Sep 27, 2015 7:54 AM - jbigler1986: morning
Sep 27, 2015 7:55 AM - jbigler1986: so turns out my issue with the hercustruder was the idler
    Sep 27, 2015 8:07 AM - donhuevo: so it's fixed then?
Sep 27, 2015 8:09 AM - jbigler1986: Yep. Had to make a modified idler. Bowden is working. Need to print the 2nd hercustruder after this idler finishes
    Sep 27, 2015 8:11 AM - donhuevo: excellent!
Sep 27, 2015 8:11 AM - jbigler1986: The bearing wouldn't turn at all on the hercustruder idler. No matter what tension I put on it. Not installed the bearing would spin fine. It was pinching it somehow
Sep 27, 2015 8:12 AM - Mike Glass: so it was dragging on the bearing?
Sep 27, 2015 8:13 AM - jbigler1986: As soon as the idler would press against the filament it wouldn't turn. Problem solved though
Sep 27, 2015 8:14 AM - Mike Glass: What can I print that would look cool black and white, i need to use up some filament scraps
    Sep 27, 2015 8:14 AM - donhuevo: puzzle chair?
Sep 27, 2015 8:14 AM - jbigler1986: Oh yeah. How is the chair
Sep 27, 2015 8:14 AM - Mike Glass: well its not enough for that
    Sep 27, 2015 8:14 AM - donhuevo: maybe 10% scale
    Sep 27, 2015 8:14 AM - Mike Glass: 65% so far done
    Sep 27, 2015 8:14 AM - jbigler1986: Action figure chair
Sep 27, 2015 8:15 AM - Mike Glass: I want to change in the middle of a print like I did yesterday.
    Sep 27, 2015 8:15 AM - donhuevo: yes!
Sep 27, 2015 8:15 AM - jbigler1986: Need to make something for the extruders now. Hmmm
Sep 27, 2015 8:15 AM - donhuevo: well zebra squinty then
    Sep 27, 2015 8:16 AM - jbigler1986: Don't how did you mount your extruder
    Sep 27, 2015 8:17 AM - jbigler1986: Don*
Sep 27, 2015 8:18 AM - Mike Glass: non lethal door stop sounds good
Sep 27, 2015 8:23 AM - donhuevo: my cold end?
    Sep 27, 2015 8:28 AM - Mike Kelly: howdy
    Sep 27, 2015 8:28 AM - Mike Kelly: i feel awful
    Sep 27, 2015 8:28 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah. Your coldend
    Sep 27, 2015 8:28 AM - jbigler1986: Hungover?
Sep 27, 2015 8:29 AM - donhuevo: I built a swingset for it and the spool... [IMG]
    Sep 27, 2015 8:31 AM - donhuevo: [IMG]
    Sep 27, 2015 8:38 AM - jbigler1986: Hmmm
    Sep 27, 2015 8:38 AM - Mattchu: morning all!
    Sep 27, 2015 8:39 AM - Mike Glass: Matt
    Sep 27, 2015 8:39 AM - Mattchu: yessir.
Sep 27, 2015 8:39 AM - Mike Glass: about to go do a test cut with that new code
    Sep 27, 2015 8:39 AM - Mattchu: roooock
Sep 27, 2015 8:39 AM - Mattchu: so the print did eventually start to lift at one end (which I expected...no enclosure)
Sep 27, 2015 8:40 AM - Mike Glass: I dont think your low enough though
Sep 27, 2015 8:40 AM - Mattchu: I killed it, but the fit was perfect for the most part.
Sep 27, 2015 8:40 AM - Mattchu: I'm going to lower it a little more. I think you're right, I think the skirt is going too fast, but the rest of it is just right.
Sep 27, 2015 8:40 AM - Mike Glass: don has a nekked robo
Sep 27, 2015 8:40 AM - donhuevo: he was good in the front and too high in the back
    Sep 27, 2015 8:41 AM - donhuevo: are you doing a 9 point auto-level?
    Sep 27, 2015 8:41 AM - Mattchu: yep
    Sep 27, 2015 8:41 AM - Mike Glass: I do 21 on mine
Sep 27, 2015 8:41 AM - Mike Glass: cause I have all the time in the world for that
Sep 27, 2015 8:41 AM - Mattchu: I'd be fine with changing the number of points, if you're willing to tell me how. the quality of I got from it with the new leadscrews and rods is glorious though. zero banding.
    Sep 27, 2015 8:42 AM - Mike Glass: I was joking..lol
    Sep 27, 2015 8:42 AM - Mattchu: well...maybe a little :p
Sep 27, 2015 8:42 AM - donhuevo: 9 should be all you need. Can't explain how far off your height is from the front to the back of your print though
    Sep 27, 2015 8:42 AM - Mattchu: little banding, but it's minimal
    Sep 27, 2015 8:43 AM - donhuevo: all 4 magnets seated completely?
Sep 27, 2015 8:43 AM - Mattchu: it seemed stuck nicely, Don. what it looks more likely is the skirt prints too fast
    Sep 27, 2015 8:43 AM - Mattchu: yep.
Sep 27, 2015 8:43 AM - Mike Glass: yea but it should be more smooshed then that
Sep 27, 2015 8:44 AM - Mike Glass: so it looks transparent almost
Sep 27, 2015 8:44 AM - donhuevo: are your z smooth rods really wobbly?
Sep 27, 2015 8:44 AM - Mattchu: agreed. on the smooshed. again, it's the new material on the base.
Sep 27, 2015 8:44 AM - Mattchu: hardly any wobble don. part of the reason I went with the upgrade.
Sep 27, 2015 8:45 AM - donhuevo: then maybe one of the 9 points stepped on a booger
Sep 27, 2015 8:45 AM - donhuevo: does your autolevel happen before or after your hot end heats up?
    Sep 27, 2015 8:45 AM - Mattchu: after.
Sep 27, 2015 8:46 AM - Mattchu: which could mean it's denting the PEI
Sep 27, 2015 8:46 AM - Mattchu: tehre are some divits on it now.
Sep 27, 2015 8:46 AM - donhuevo: so it's oozing the whole time it's leveling leaving nine little boogers on the bed
Sep 27, 2015 8:47 AM - Mattchu: nah. I clear the tip. that's why I use the skirt...primes the pump.
Sep 27, 2015 8:47 AM - donhuevo: if it was sinking into the surface, you'd have the opposite problem
Sep 27, 2015 8:47 AM - Mike Glass: you should do a cold with the pei
    Sep 27, 2015 8:48 AM - Mike Glass: or even a probe
Sep 27, 2015 8:48 AM - donhuevo: yeah, a probe would be a lot gentler
Sep 27, 2015 8:48 AM - Mattchu: would love that if I had the time or patience to take this thing apart hahaha.
Sep 27, 2015 8:49 AM - Mattchu: one sec, uploading.
    Sep 27, 2015 8:52 AM - Mattchu: old robo threaded rod. http://i.imgur.com/T6C5yfm.jpg

    Sep 27, 2015 8:53 AM - Mattchu: blue part.
Sep 27, 2015 8:56 AM - Mike Kelly: JB, yup, great american beer fest was yesterday
Sep 27, 2015 8:57 AM - Mattchu: I'll definitely mess with it later tonight though Don. probably craft a cardboard enclosure from my air conditioned hideaway :p
    Sep 27, 2015 9:01 AM - donhuevo: good luck
Sep 27, 2015 9:01 AM - Mattchu: thanks. I'm lowering it again as well from 140 to 130.
Sep 27, 2015 9:05 AM - Mike Glass: matt, I just ran the job, was better but still had some tear out, I put masking tape on and it worked alot better, wonder clear coat it first then it probably wouldn't have an issue.
Sep 27, 2015 9:05 AM - Mike Glass: Hy MK
Sep 27, 2015 9:06 AM - Mike Kelly: hey mg

Sep 27, 2015 9:07 AM - Mattchu: bummer. I'd try it out. Worst that happens is it makes it shiny, but it might add some flex to that part of the wood where it's clearly dried a bit.
Sep 27, 2015 9:08 AM - Mike Glass: guess I could just flip the project, as the back side cuts perfect without chipout
Sep 27, 2015 9:09 AM - Mattchu: is one side laminated, and the other not?
Sep 27, 2015 9:12 AM - Mike Glass: no they are both, one is birch and another is just whitewood or something
Sep 27, 2015 9:13 AM - Mattchu: huh. I'd try it out then. the only other thing I could think of is to slow it down and take a shallower cut on the top pass.
Sep 27, 2015 9:14 AM - Mike Glass: its at 10mm/s now so pretty slow
Sep 27, 2015 9:15 AM - donhuevo: do you have room to increase the spindle speed?
Sep 27, 2015 9:15 AM - Mike Glass: yea only running it at around 7K or so
Sep 27, 2015 9:15 AM - Mike Glass: will go up to 25k
Sep 27, 2015 9:15 AM - Mattchu: oh damn, then yeah, crank it up to 10k.
Sep 27, 2015 9:16 AM - Mike Glass: that is just a guess, it is set at 4 on the dial
    Sep 27, 2015 9:16 AM - Mattchu: Router?
    Sep 27, 2015 9:17 AM - Mike Glass: 16k-20k is 1-3
Sep 27, 2015 9:17 AM - Mike Glass: 4 to 6 this give an RPM range of 22,500 to 35,000
    Sep 27, 2015 9:17 AM - Mike Glass: it goes to 35K
    Sep 27, 2015 9:17 AM - Mike Glass: yea its a bosch
Sep 27, 2015 9:17 AM - Mattchu: oh then you're going plenty fast.
    Sep 27, 2015 9:18 AM - Mattchu: with a .250" bit.
    Sep 27, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Glass: 3.18mm
    Sep 27, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Glass: guess I could use a bigger 1/4 bit
    Sep 27, 2015 9:18 AM - Mattchu: so roughly an 1/8" bit
Sep 27, 2015 9:19 AM - Mattchu: I would if you can fit it. if the tool is that long, it'll flex less.
Sep 27, 2015 9:19 AM - Mike Kelly: what you making mike?
    Sep 27, 2015 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.carbon.ai/freerobots/
Sep 27, 2015 9:22 AM - Mike Glass: its not long, I have it in the chuck so just 1/2 sticks out
Sep 27, 2015 9:22 AM - Mike Glass: Beer bottle cap holder
Sep 27, 2015 9:23 AM - Mike Glass: for collectors to put in the shape of MT.
    Sep 27, 2015 9:23 AM - Mike Kelly: ohh
    Sep 27, 2015 9:23 AM - Mike Kelly: nice
Sep 27, 2015 9:24 AM - Mike Glass: just trying new settings with the cnc and estlcam's new version
    Sep 27, 2015 9:26 AM - Mattchu: dude, that's rad mike kelly!
Sep 27, 2015 9:28 AM - donhuevo: too bad they refuse to show katia in action
    Sep 27, 2015 9:29 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
Sep 27, 2015 9:33 AM - Mattchu: well how else are they supposed to get you're info? :p
Sep 27, 2015 9:42 AM - jbigler1986: Hey MK. Guess what hotend I am using
    Sep 27, 2015 9:43 AM - Mike Kelly: uh
    Sep 27, 2015 9:43 AM - Mike Kelly: what
    Sep 27, 2015 9:43 AM - jbigler1986: $20 Bowden v6 from amazon? :D
Sep 27, 2015 9:43 AM - Mike Kelly: oh you ass
    Sep 27, 2015 9:44 AM - Mike Kelly: i guess i can't be too upset because you do own 2 v6's
    Sep 27, 2015 9:44 AM - jbigler1986: Well I have 2 official v6's so I don't feel bad
Sep 27, 2015 9:44 AM - Mike Kelly: how come you bought one?
    Sep 27, 2015 9:44 AM - jbigler1986: I ordered 2 of them
Sep 27, 2015 9:45 AM - jbigler1986: Bowden is working. Using push fit connectors on cold end too
    Sep 27, 2015 9:46 AM - Mike Kelly: cool
Sep 27, 2015 9:46 AM - Mike Kelly: did the dual direct drive work?
Sep 27, 2015 9:47 AM - jbigler1986: Yes kind of. Way to much of a pain the remove hotend, or adjust anything
    Sep 27, 2015 9:48 AM - jbigler1986: Adjusting the height was good
    Sep 27, 2015 9:49 AM - Mike Kelly: gotcha
Sep 27, 2015 9:50 AM - Mike Kelly: got any ideas to make hot end removal easier?
Sep 27, 2015 9:52 AM - donhuevo: I can have mine free of the machine in about 15 seconds
Sep 27, 2015 9:53 AM - Mike Glass: that is too slow don
    Sep 27, 2015 9:53 AM - donhuevo: true
Sep 27, 2015 9:54 AM - Mike Kelly: direct drive dual extrusion though
Sep 27, 2015 9:55 AM - donhuevo: why couldn't you have a quick release arm with two j head cutouts
Sep 27, 2015 9:56 AM - Mike Kelly: not a whole lot of room to work with
Sep 27, 2015 9:57 AM - donhuevo: yeah... all those steppers getting in the way
Sep 27, 2015 9:57 AM - Mike Kelly: mostly the belt
Sep 27, 2015 9:57 AM - Mike Kelly: need to run it underneath...
Sep 27, 2015 9:59 AM - donhuevo: underneath works well
    Sep 27, 2015 9:59 AM - PeterkSharma: morning
Sep 27, 2015 10:00 AM - donhuevo: buenos tardes Pedro
    Sep 27, 2015 10:02 AM - PeterkSharma: como estas
Sep 27, 2015 10:02 AM - PeterkSharma: or should i say como estan
    Sep 27, 2015 10:03 AM - donhuevo: I don't know what you should say
    Sep 27, 2015 10:03 AM - PeterkSharma: lol
Sep 27, 2015 10:05 AM - PeterkSharma: Would using a linear actuator be more accurate than a leadscrew?
Sep 27, 2015 10:05 AM - PeterkSharma: or woulda 1 mm threaded screw be super accurate
Sep 27, 2015 10:06 AM - PeterkSharma: Trying to decide what I want to do for my Z-axis on resin printer
Sep 27, 2015 10:07 AM - donhuevo: most linear actuators I've seen have a leadscrew inside them
    Sep 27, 2015 10:08 AM - donhuevo: a 2mm thread with 16x microstepping would be ridiculously accurate
    Sep 27, 2015 10:08 AM - PeterkSharma: K I'll check it out
Sep 27, 2015 10:08 AM - PeterkSharma: What are the robo at 8mm?
Sep 27, 2015 10:09 AM - donhuevo: mk would know for certain
    Sep 27, 2015 10:09 AM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
    Sep 27, 2015 10:10 AM - donhuevo: gt2 jar opener?
Sep 27, 2015 10:10 AM - Mattchu: the lead screw upgrade on the robo are insanely accurate. the only way to make them more so would be to have feedback like a traditional servo driven CNC.
    Sep 27, 2015 10:11 AM - Mike Glass: non-lethal door stop
Sep 27, 2015 10:11 AM - PeterkSharma: what are the leadscrew threading for before the upgrade? I have those just lying around
Sep 27, 2015 10:11 AM - PeterkSharma: that is the fanciest doorstop i've ever seen
Sep 27, 2015 10:11 AM - Mattchu: threaded rod, peter.
    Sep 27, 2015 10:11 AM - Mike Kelly: R1's used M8-1.25 and R1+'s use TR8*4
Sep 27, 2015 10:12 AM - donhuevo: but before that was an English thread, right?
    Sep 27, 2015 10:12 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah 5/16-18
    Sep 27, 2015 10:12 AM - Mattchu: yeah.
Sep 27, 2015 10:12 AM - Mike Glass: Ok what else can I print to use this up.
Sep 27, 2015 10:12 AM - Mattchu: english threaded rod, then metric threaded rod, now acme lead
    Sep 27, 2015 10:13 AM - PeterkSharma: gramophone
    Sep 27, 2015 10:13 AM - donhuevo: gt2 jar opener?
    Sep 27, 2015 10:13 AM - Mattchu: caltrops, MG.
    Sep 27, 2015 10:13 AM - PeterkSharma: combs
Sep 27, 2015 10:14 AM - Mike Glass: wonder if they would actually work to blow out someones tires
Sep 27, 2015 10:15 AM - PeterkSharma: Might depend on how fast they are going
Sep 27, 2015 10:16 AM - jbigler1986: fixed the hercustruder idler. needed ground down some inside where the bearing goes
Sep 27, 2015 10:16 AM - Mike Glass: I need one of these. [IMG]
Sep 27, 2015 10:17 AM - Mattchu: glass cutter for your cnc, mike?
Sep 27, 2015 10:18 AM - Mike Kelly: looks like a half inch
Sep 27, 2015 10:19 AM - Mike Glass: that aint for glass
Sep 27, 2015 10:19 AM - PeterkSharma: its for tires
Sep 27, 2015 10:20 AM - Mattchu: ooooh sorry, didn't realize we were fixed on tires still lol

Sep 27, 2015 10:20 AM - Mike Glass: gonna try my 4 flute cutter and see what happens
Sep 27, 2015 10:21 AM - Mike Glass: maybe the 2 flute it too agressive
Sep 27, 2015 10:21 AM - Mattchu: you're clearing the sawdust regularly as well, mike?
Sep 27, 2015 10:21 AM - Mattchu: or is it spinning fast enough to clear on it own?
Sep 27, 2015 10:21 AM - Mike Glass: it is blown out by the router
Sep 27, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Glass: I really want to get one of these done today, I know I could sell these like hotcakes.
Sep 27, 2015 10:25 AM - Mike Kelly: i should go work on my table
Sep 27, 2015 10:25 AM - Mattchu: I've got nothing else I can think of, without being there in person.
Sep 27, 2015 10:28 AM - Mike Kelly: i really need a jig for making pocket holes
Sep 27, 2015 10:28 AM - Mike Kelly: i guess i have that tiny one i can try
Sep 27, 2015 10:37 AM - Mattchu: how off in size have the holes been? or the dwell marks?
Sep 27, 2015 10:39 AM - Mattchu: (there should be 4 dwell marks, one substantially larger than the rest). is it chipping at the top when it breaks through the bottom?
Sep 27, 2015 10:40 AM - Mike Glass: not sure what that means
Sep 27, 2015 10:40 AM - Mike Glass: think its chippin on the first pass
    Sep 27, 2015 10:42 AM - Mattchu: dammit.
Sep 27, 2015 10:43 AM - Mike Glass: it stepped the allowance back a bit now see what happens
    Sep 27, 2015 10:43 AM - Mattchu: okay.
Sep 27, 2015 10:50 AM - Mike Glass: why cant i do spiral in S3d, just dont work
Sep 27, 2015 10:52 AM - donhuevo: shit dude, pick a machine and stick with it
    Sep 27, 2015 10:54 AM - jbigler1986: Pocket holes are awesome
Sep 27, 2015 10:54 AM - jbigler1986: Make your own jig mk. Looks pretty simple
Sep 27, 2015 10:55 AM - Mike Kelly: very true
Sep 27, 2015 10:55 AM - Mike Glass: trying to use up some almost empty spools, have too many
Sep 27, 2015 10:55 AM - jbigler1986: I went the easy route and bought one. Wish I just made one though
    Sep 27, 2015 10:57 AM - Mattchu: I have a third idea mike.
Sep 27, 2015 10:58 AM - Mattchu: does it chip when it first enters the board?
Sep 27, 2015 10:58 AM - Mattchu: the initial plunge?
    Sep 27, 2015 11:00 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:951387 oh snap
Sep 27, 2015 11:00 AM - Mike Glass: yes, i believe thats what it is doing, gonna run this in a few seconds
Sep 27, 2015 11:01 AM - Mattchu: watch it and tell me. I've got a fix for you if that's the case.
    Sep 27, 2015 11:02 AM - jbigler1986: Oh nice find MK
Sep 27, 2015 11:03 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:890283 this is also a good idea
Sep 27, 2015 11:04 AM - Mike Kelly: i wonder if they sell just the drill bit for pocket holes
Sep 27, 2015 11:06 AM - Mike Glass: yes they do Mike
    Sep 27, 2015 11:06 AM - Mike Kelly: jeez, 15 bucks
Sep 27, 2015 11:07 AM - Mike Glass: might have to make one of those pocket jigs those are nice
    Sep 27, 2015 11:08 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Sep 27, 2015 11:08 AM - Mattchu: okay those jigs are sexy. I'm gonna make one of those to trade to a friend for use of their table saw.
Sep 27, 2015 11:08 AM - Mattchu: very nice find, MG.
    Sep 27, 2015 11:08 AM - Mattchu: er MK
Sep 27, 2015 11:09 AM - Mattchu: MG, how did it do? did it chip when it started the cut? .did it chip anywhere else long the way?
Sep 27, 2015 11:13 AM - Mattchu: if so, then the next solution is to add one more position line of code in for each hole.
Sep 27, 2015 11:20 AM - Mike Glass: think its just that its a 2 flute instead of the 4 flute, gonna try that
Sep 27, 2015 11:22 AM - Mattchu: okay. if it still does it, I'd try the positioning idea, where before the plunge in Z, you position it to the middle of the hole, and then have a G01 feed line to the first position (then run as normal from there)
Sep 27, 2015 11:22 AM - Mattchu: that way it only chips the scrap wood
Sep 27, 2015 11:28 AM - Mike Glass: damn that job didnt go back and do clean up pass, must of screwed something up
Sep 27, 2015 11:28 AM - Mattchu: did you pull the part off?
Sep 27, 2015 11:29 AM - Mattchu: I've never used repetier for mill work...does it have an optional stop feature?
    Sep 27, 2015 11:29 AM - Mattchu: also called an M01?
    Sep 27, 2015 11:29 AM - Mike Glass: just a panic kill
    Sep 27, 2015 11:29 AM - Mattchu: drat
Sep 27, 2015 11:31 AM - Mike Glass: guess I would have to make it smaller then my bit to actually work though..doh
Sep 27, 2015 11:31 AM - Mattchu: make what smaller?
Sep 27, 2015 11:31 AM - Mattchu: the clean up pass?
Sep 27, 2015 11:31 AM - Mike Glass: the allowance needs to be greater to make up the size I think
Sep 27, 2015 11:33 AM - Mattchu: I'd do a test where you post the same program, but lie about the tool diameter (tell it that it's 1mm larger in diameter)
Sep 27, 2015 11:34 AM - Mattchu: and see if the code changes.
Sep 27, 2015 11:34 AM - Mattchu: if it does, run that operation first, then the one with the "correct" tool diameter.
Sep 27, 2015 11:39 AM - Mike Glass: ok here we go
    Sep 27, 2015 11:41 AM - Mattchu: fingers crossed!
Sep 27, 2015 11:43 AM - NFOsec: hola. flute playing MG?
    Sep 27, 2015 11:44 AM - Mike Glass: that made it worse..lol
Sep 27, 2015 11:44 AM - Mattchu: how'd it make it worse? lol
Sep 27, 2015 11:44 AM - Mike Glass: put on the 4 flute I guess.
    Sep 27, 2015 11:44 AM - Mattchu: I say try it.
Sep 27, 2015 11:44 AM - Mattchu: past that, I'd say try the position idea
Sep 27, 2015 11:45 AM - NFOsec: well, what's the chip load there?
    Sep 27, 2015 11:45 AM - Mattchu: it's pretty low
Sep 27, 2015 11:47 AM - Mike Glass: hey NFO
Sep 27, 2015 11:47 AM - Mattchu: wood, RPM of roughly 22k, and a feed of under 3" a minute, with a .04" DoC. the only other thing would be to decrease depth of cut.
Sep 27, 2015 11:50 AM - Mike Glass: yea its just that top layer is crap, so hard to cut without it lifting, the 4 flute does alot better but is been used alot, I have more comming.
Sep 27, 2015 11:51 AM - Mattchu: okay, got this here for you mike, sending you a sample of what I'm suggesting.
Sep 27, 2015 11:51 AM - Mike Glass: if I turn it over though its perfect
Sep 27, 2015 11:55 AM - Mattchu: sent in email.
Sep 27, 2015 12:01 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG] err
    Sep 27, 2015 12:01 PM - Mattchu: interesting.
Sep 27, 2015 12:01 PM - Mattchu: it's supposed to be inside of the circle
    Sep 27, 2015 12:02 PM - donhuevo: it's supposed to be Montana
Sep 27, 2015 12:03 PM - Mike Glass: we are just working on the circles don
Sep 27, 2015 12:04 PM - donhuevo: funny looking circle then
Sep 27, 2015 12:04 PM - Mike Glass: yes it is
Sep 27, 2015 12:04 PM - Mattchu: his coordinate system is flipped, so it's bottom looking up instead of top down.
Sep 27, 2015 12:05 PM - Mattchu: it's not bad, just, uncommon, and really really hurts my head.
    Sep 27, 2015 12:07 PM - Mike Glass: lol
Sep 27, 2015 12:08 PM - donhuevo: don't care what angle you look at it from. It's a weird circle
Sep 27, 2015 12:09 PM - Mattchu: it's ellipical, you're just looking at it from the wrong angle
    Sep 27, 2015 12:09 PM - Mattchu: =-p
Sep 27, 2015 12:09 PM - Mattchu: hold up, typing up something now.
Sep 27, 2015 12:09 PM - Mattchu: what'll end up happening I think is I'm just going to write my own code, with blackjack, and hookers lol.
Sep 27, 2015 12:11 PM - NFOsec: this an upward ord ownward fluted bit?
Sep 27, 2015 12:11 PM - NFOsec: THAT would also make a big difference.
Sep 27, 2015 12:12 PM - NFOsec: why is everyone flipping? :) I remember daniel was totally flipped, now this? :)
Sep 27, 2015 12:16 PM - Mattchu: You've no idea NFO...this is the third time in my life I've seen this, and the second time this week (the first time this week was on a 600k machine...I nearly lost it when I found out that was "standard").
    Sep 27, 2015 12:16 PM - NFOsec: OMG. that must've hurt.
Sep 27, 2015 12:17 PM - Mattchu: in their defense...it was for a second turret. Nothing broke...but the coordinate plane flips for the second turret. so G3 is G2, and G2 is G3.
Sep 27, 2015 12:17 PM - NFOsec: I guess you have to look at it the way the Chinese, Japanese, Russians, Koreans, and Americans have perspective in them, then shake them up in a cup and hope for Yahtzee!
Sep 27, 2015 12:18 PM - Mike Glass: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HCZPUV0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00 these are the bits
    Sep 27, 2015 12:18 PM - NFOsec: mm... I wonder when G2 means G2! lol.
Sep 27, 2015 12:18 PM - Mattchu: those are fine.
    Sep 27, 2015 12:18 PM - Mattchu: you're cutting wood. :)

Sep 27, 2015 12:19 PM - Mike Glass: iron actually
Sep 27, 2015 12:20 PM - Mattchu: its a standard coated High Speed Steel (HSS).
    Sep 27, 2015 12:20 PM - Mattchu: er carbide
    Sep 27, 2015 12:20 PM - Mattchu: now that I re-read it
Sep 27, 2015 12:20 PM - Mattchu: which is kinda odd.
Sep 27, 2015 12:21 PM - Mattchu: ...drop one. see if it snaps or shatters =-D
Sep 27, 2015 12:21 PM - Mattchu: or does it feel unnaturally heavy?
Sep 27, 2015 12:21 PM - Mike Glass: naw the hole box is pretty light
Sep 27, 2015 12:22 PM - Mattchu: that's really odd that carbide is in the description. I'm imagining that's a typo.
    Sep 27, 2015 12:23 PM - Mattchu: I'm hoping so anyways.
Sep 27, 2015 12:24 PM - Mattchu: if you've got a Harbor Fright near you, I know they sell cheap HSS router bits. Same with Grainger, but they'll charge a premium for chinese tooling, just cause :p
Sep 27, 2015 12:26 PM - Mike Glass: ugg now its leaving a stupid tool mark on the circles
Sep 27, 2015 12:26 PM - Mike Glass: some wierd vibration when it plunging down
    Sep 27, 2015 12:27 PM - Mattchu: 4 marks?
Sep 27, 2015 12:27 PM - Mike Glass: although its doing only 4 passes not sure what I did
Sep 27, 2015 12:30 PM - NFOsec: slow down the plunge rate, confirm RPMs against the material/tool bit, you should be able to use a scrap to prove that. to me it sounds like overruns or a dull/too fast movement or low RPM situation for the material
    Sep 27, 2015 12:31 PM - NFOsec: but that's just me.
    Sep 27, 2015 12:31 PM - Mike Glass: plunge rate is 1mm
Sep 27, 2015 12:31 PM - Mattchu: not enough z depth moves. I have to get moving. I could write something I know will work, from scratch, but I'd need to know the diameter of the hole, the total part size, and the spacing between the holes and the edges of the piece
Sep 27, 2015 12:31 PM - Mike Glass: cut and speed
Sep 27, 2015 12:31 PM - NFOsec: going into metal?
    Sep 27, 2015 12:31 PM - Mattchu: 1mm a second?
Sep 27, 2015 12:31 PM - Mike Glass: hah no, just wood
    Sep 27, 2015 12:31 PM - Mattchu: wood
    Sep 27, 2015 12:31 PM - NFOsec: oh, really?
    Sep 27, 2015 12:32 PM - Mike Glass: plywood
Sep 27, 2015 12:32 PM - NFOsec: you never answered, was that an upward or downward bit?
    Sep 27, 2015 12:32 PM - Mattchu: 1mm a second is fairly slow.
Sep 27, 2015 12:32 PM - NFOsec: if you did, it's my fault for being ignorant.
Sep 27, 2015 12:32 PM - Mike Glass: I posted the link, im not sure
Sep 27, 2015 12:33 PM - Mike Glass: its probably and up cut because the bottom turns out fine
    Sep 27, 2015 12:33 PM - NFOsec: yeah, they look up-cut.
Sep 27, 2015 12:33 PM - Mattchu: it looks like a left handed cutter, so nothing outta the ordinary there. router spins only one direction, right?
Sep 27, 2015 12:33 PM - NFOsec: but seeing a tool mark usually is too high of a chip load or speed.
    Sep 27, 2015 12:33 PM - Mike Glass: yep
Sep 27, 2015 12:34 PM - NFOsec: yeah mattchu peekachu.
Sep 27, 2015 12:34 PM - Mattchu: lol. it's how my finnish friends say my name, it kinda stuck.
Sep 27, 2015 12:34 PM - Mike Glass: My movement speed is at 10mm/s
    Sep 27, 2015 12:35 PM - NFOsec: I'd suggest a few more shallow passes as a test.
    Sep 27, 2015 12:35 PM - Mattchu: that's a little fast.
Sep 27, 2015 12:35 PM - Mike Glass: yea it was doing 6 but some reason it was doing 4
    Sep 27, 2015 12:36 PM - Mattchu: well it shows 600, then shows 1200
Sep 27, 2015 12:36 PM - NFOsec: you know, glue in those boards does wear down bits, so if you're working with a dull one, watch for that.
Sep 27, 2015 12:36 PM - Mike Glass: yep, I just put a new one on today
Sep 27, 2015 12:36 PM - NFOsec: what do you use for a program to do this? I personally have Vectric's software and use Mach3 on my CNC/routing table.
Sep 27, 2015 12:36 PM - Mattchu: not used to working mm, so I didn't relaly look at those feeds
Sep 27, 2015 12:37 PM - Mattchu: cut the Z plunge to 300 and the xy to 600
Sep 27, 2015 12:37 PM - Mattchu: probably still too fast there
    Sep 27, 2015 12:38 PM - Mattchu: X/Y feed to 260
Sep 27, 2015 12:38 PM - NFOsec: one of the old forums I used to go to for routing was http://www.routerforums.com/general-routing/4367-routing-plywood.html
    Sep 27, 2015 12:38 PM - Mattchu: and Z to 130
Sep 27, 2015 12:38 PM - Mike Kelly: how much do you think i could sell those brain slugs for
    Sep 27, 2015 12:38 PM - Mike Kelly: 20 bucks?
    Sep 27, 2015 12:38 PM - NFOsec: brain slugs?
    Sep 27, 2015 12:39 PM - NFOsec: got a link to a slug?
    Sep 27, 2015 12:39 PM - NFOsec: lol.
    Sep 27, 2015 12:39 PM - Mattchu: maybe 10 or 15 if you attach a chin strap?
Sep 27, 2015 12:39 PM - Mattchu: or make them into a fascinator for the ladies
Sep 27, 2015 12:39 PM - NFOsec: last time I heard someone talk about brain slugs was the lead that was expended from a .44 into the head of an imbeicle.
    Sep 27, 2015 12:39 PM - NFOsec: er imbecile
    Sep 27, 2015 12:40 PM - Mattchu: they're from futurama, NFO
Sep 27, 2015 12:40 PM - Mattchu: I gotta get moving. It's getting hot, I need to shop for a laptop, and then go check out the temperature control room.
Sep 27, 2015 12:40 PM - NFOsec: I see, so MK is creating the LED lit brain slugs?
    Sep 27, 2015 12:41 PM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
Sep 27, 2015 12:41 PM - NFOsec: yeah, $20 easily, but time/materials could be around 80% mark up.
Sep 27, 2015 12:41 PM - NFOsec: injection mold the babies and you'll profit big at $5-$10 a piece.
Sep 27, 2015 12:42 PM - NFOsec: include option to add custom name on bottom. :)
Sep 27, 2015 12:42 PM - Mike Kelly: they were a big hit at GABF
Sep 27, 2015 12:43 PM - Mattchu: MG, try those feeds out (Zplung 130, X/Y 260). It'll be A LOT slower, but it might match up with the HP/rigidity of the tooling head. increase in feed in increments of 50 until you find one that works well past that.
    Sep 27, 2015 12:44 PM - Mattchu: check that...increments of 25 lol
Sep 27, 2015 12:44 PM - Mattchu: (stupid MM to inch conversion >_<)
    Sep 27, 2015 12:44 PM - Mattchu: possibly 12.5 =-p
Sep 27, 2015 12:45 PM - Mike Glass: its at 10 no so that should be fine
Sep 27, 2015 12:45 PM - Mike Glass: going to flip the project and start cutting
Sep 27, 2015 12:55 PM - NFOsec: what is that "putty" that goes between the feeder and the heat sink?
Sep 27, 2015 12:55 PM - NFOsec: MG: been reading up on your up and coming endeavors?
Sep 27, 2015 12:57 PM - donhuevo: arctic silver or the like
Sep 27, 2015 12:57 PM - NFOsec: So, for the 2nd time since I've owned the Robo, I've been bestowed the great privilege of taking off the hot end/extrusion/feeder system to diagnose a poor thermistor placement/retention of heat issue, got a generalized solution done, hopefully it will resolve.
    Sep 27, 2015 12:58 PM - NFOsec: looks bronze/auburn.
    Sep 27, 2015 12:58 PM - donhuevo: http://www.amazon.com/Arctic-Silver...&qid=1443384159&sr=8-1&keywords=arctic+silver
    Sep 27, 2015 12:58 PM - NFOsec: yeah,
Sep 27, 2015 12:59 PM - NFOsec: wasn't a color I was familiar with.. poo. do you like poo colored protection? :)
Sep 27, 2015 1:00 PM - NFOsec: so, kapton tape I assume isn't really readily available just anywhere?
Sep 27, 2015 1:00 PM - Mike Kelly: not really
Sep 27, 2015 1:00 PM - Mike Kelly: gotta buy it on amazon
Sep 27, 2015 1:00 PM - NFOsec: well, Chester electronics in Kenosha, WI carries it, just didn't think they were open today.
Sep 27, 2015 1:00 PM - NFOsec: that place is a combination of a blast from the past and some modern twist.
Sep 27, 2015 1:01 PM - NFOsec: lots of obscure and hard to find parts always readily available.
Sep 27, 2015 1:01 PM - NFOsec: I offloaded a coujple PDP-11s years ago to them to use for parts.
Sep 27, 2015 1:02 PM - NFOsec: anyone here have a stock R1/R1+ (which would probably be a joke if so?) I'm curious what the stock wiring layout was for the tie downs, etc, for the extruder/hot end, etc?
    Sep 27, 2015 1:04 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm i modified mine a bit
Sep 27, 2015 1:05 PM - NFOsec: MK: no kidding?
Sep 27, 2015 1:06 PM - NFOsec: I'm surprised you don't have a portal with a thermal glove (like the incubators) to reach in and work on parts.
    Sep 27, 2015 1:06 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
Sep 27, 2015 1:07 PM - NFOsec: The American Science store up in Milwaukee had some incredible deals on steppers and stuff last week... those whole in the wall stores are always cool to find and shop in.
Sep 27, 2015 1:19 PM - NFOsec: So, that "chair", is it the same one that is listed on the FB page?
Sep 27, 2015 1:19 PM - NFOsec: I have a puzzle creator software I use for laser cut/engraved puzzles, can drop the flat into a sculpting tool to mold a chair.
Sep 27, 2015 1:20 PM - NFOsec: was cool looking.
Sep 27, 2015 1:23 PM - Mike Glass: been watching the video's NFO
Sep 27, 2015 1:25 PM - Mike Glass: ok think Im ready to cut this beyatch out.

Sep 27, 2015 1:27 PM - NFOsec: Well, I'm going to give you a couple primer things to do before you go crazy, but the videos are very helpful. the biggest and most important thing you'll need to do is focus alignment, after that, most life is a breeze.
    Sep 27, 2015 1:27 PM - NFOsec: so R2, and Robo-Mega and Robo-Mini, are those non-existant things?
Sep 27, 2015 1:33 PM - Mike Glass: haha, figments more likely
Sep 27, 2015 1:33 PM - NFOsec: sad. I probably would have considered a mega on day one.
Sep 27, 2015 1:34 PM - NFOsec: Rigid appeared intriguing to me because you could expand the size to anything you wanted, limited only by the availability of the thread/rails you get from a local hardware store.
Sep 27, 2015 1:34 PM - NFOsec: there are a few 4x4 foot builds out there with dual or quad extruders.
Sep 27, 2015 1:35 PM - NFOsec: and... you can actually stand on the thing, thus the reason for "rigid" in the name.
    Sep 27, 2015 1:35 PM - NFOsec: well, it's been 10 months, so doubtful it's upcoming soon.
Sep 27, 2015 1:37 PM - Mike Glass: R2 was suppose to come out dec 2014, I was going to get it but somebody said, it wouldnt be till august of 2015, now where are we?
    Sep 27, 2015 1:38 PM - jbigler1986: They meant august 2017
Sep 27, 2015 1:39 PM - NFOsec: The robo case could have benefited from the center piece lifting up and out as a slide out cover, allowing easier access for top-work without having to take off the whoel cover.
Sep 27, 2015 1:40 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah. I have my cover off for a few weeks and don't plan on using it again
Sep 27, 2015 2:05 PM - Mike Glass: dam, forgot to level the cnc bed before this job..poopy
Sep 27, 2015 2:07 PM - Mike Glass: Hey NFO, what masking tape do you use?
Sep 27, 2015 2:23 PM - Mike Glass: Ok that sucked
Sep 27, 2015 2:28 PM - Mike Kelly: How do you do the leveling mg
Sep 27, 2015 2:32 PM - Mike Glass: put something on the end of the bit and move it manually around and adjust
Sep 27, 2015 2:32 PM - Mike Glass: or put a piece of glass and use the gauge
Sep 27, 2015 2:33 PM - Mike Glass: stupid z got stuck again and runaway machine started cutting at full depth,, ugg
Sep 27, 2015 2:34 PM - Mike Glass: Think I will put the lead screw on it.
Sep 27, 2015 2:34 PM - Mike Glass: that or the ramps got hot
Sep 27, 2015 2:35 PM - Mike Glass: but kinda doubt that
Sep 27, 2015 2:43 PM - NFOsec: so, how difficult would it be to devise an auto-leveling bed using lead screws and a drop-down probe?
Sep 27, 2015 2:44 PM - NFOsec: MG: masking tape?
Sep 27, 2015 2:45 PM - NFOsec: for laser stuff? typically the blue or green painters tape suffice. I get a 8-roll set for $10 or so at HomeyDepotyIdentityStealers.com
Sep 27, 2015 2:45 PM - NFOsec: actually, that and if it was a much larger mask requirement, I get the roll that I found on laserbits.com
Sep 27, 2015 2:45 PM - NFOsec: I use that for both laser and CNC.,
Sep 27, 2015 2:46 PM - NFOsec: that what you wanted to know?
    Sep 27, 2015 2:54 PM - krouton3: well back from the convention
Sep 27, 2015 2:58 PM - NFOsec: krouton3: what convention is that? Robos United Demonstrators Expo? RUDE?
Sep 27, 2015 2:58 PM - Mike Glass: Yep thats what I was asking about
Sep 27, 2015 2:59 PM - Mike Glass: convention or intervention?
    Sep 27, 2015 3:03 PM - NFOsec: MG: ok.
Sep 27, 2015 3:03 PM - NFOsec: MG: the lower mask tapes are the best since you don't have to worry about adhesive clean ups.
Sep 27, 2015 3:04 PM - NFOsec: HomeyDepot has a dark blue version that I really like in rolls, I think are 2.5 or 3"
Sep 27, 2015 3:04 PM - Mike Glass: lower in price?
Sep 27, 2015 3:04 PM - NFOsec: frog and the blue tapes are usually a lot more costly.
Sep 27, 2015 3:04 PM - NFOsec: much much lower in price, sort of "generic brand" Lowes carries the same.
Sep 27, 2015 3:05 PM - Mike Glass: ok cool, just want to be prepared to have everything before next weekend.
Sep 27, 2015 3:05 PM - Mike Glass: The honeycomb table I ordered was the bigger size so asked if he shipped it out yet, cause I cant use it.
Sep 27, 2015 3:05 PM - Mike Glass: hasnt aswered back yet
Sep 27, 2015 3:06 PM - NFOsec: it's called HDX, Multi-surface Painter's tape, 6-pc contrtactor pack. 1.88 inch/44mm (the size of the roll not the width of the tape)
Sep 27, 2015 3:06 PM - NFOsec: well, if you ordered the one without the border, you could easily cut that down one comb.
Sep 27, 2015 3:06 PM - NFOsec: with the Jag laser you plan on buying next.
    Sep 27, 2015 3:07 PM - NFOsec: maybe a water cutter?
    Sep 27, 2015 3:07 PM - NFOsec: man, I've seen those, amazing.
    Sep 27, 2015 3:07 PM - NFOsec: SKU for tape is 509616
Sep 27, 2015 3:08 PM - Mike Glass: yea that was a question I last sent him if it was removable.
Sep 27, 2015 3:08 PM - NFOsec: so, one thing that is common is building a sort of "ramp" using a 1/8" or 1/4' piece of wood strip, put one end up on an incline and the other stays flat on the table.
Sep 27, 2015 3:08 PM - Mike Glass: this is what he sent me. 13.8“*21.7”*0.8“.
Sep 27, 2015 3:09 PM - Mike Glass: what is that for?
Sep 27, 2015 3:09 PM - NFOsec: move the laser head to one side, press pulse, then move it a little over, adjust the table height or laser head up or down (keep doing this) until you get the best focus which is ultimately the smallest point -- usually takes about 3-4 pulses.
Sep 27, 2015 3:09 PM - NFOsec: setting focus lengths.
    Sep 27, 2015 3:10 PM - krouton3: i went to anime weekend atlanta
Sep 27, 2015 3:10 PM - NFOsec: then, they include this acrylic focus strip which you put between the piece and the laser, I found it wasn't the best focus distance, so I created a new one out of wood or another piece of acrylic. you use that to gauge focus.focus
    Sep 27, 2015 3:10 PM - NFOsec: oooh. NICE.
Sep 27, 2015 3:10 PM - NFOsec: my son wuold have loved that.
Sep 27, 2015 3:11 PM - NFOsec: SmithMicros' products for Manga/Anime are fun to use with my Wacom pen/monitor.
Sep 27, 2015 3:12 PM - NFOsec: MG: I can probably give you a couple quick videos on what I'm talking about, but once you do that, you'll be rocking in no time.
Sep 27, 2015 3:13 PM - krouton3: this was the final product for the sword and shield i 3d printed got it dont the night before i left for the convention https://scontent-atl3-1.xx.fbcdn.ne...=55b4f34f61db8a71fbdc1dd4c647057e&oe=5699D956
Sep 27, 2015 3:13 PM - krouton3: it was a fun project but now to start planning for the next one haha
Sep 27, 2015 3:14 PM - krouton3: im gonna need alot more filament though
    Sep 27, 2015 3:15 PM - NFOsec: good deal.
    Sep 27, 2015 3:16 PM - NFOsec: someone likes staging photos. :)
Sep 27, 2015 3:16 PM - krouton3: it was rainign so i was using the light to dry the paint lol
Sep 27, 2015 3:16 PM - Mike Glass: ugg internet dropped out here in the shop
Sep 27, 2015 3:17 PM - Mike Glass: looks nice krouton
Sep 27, 2015 3:17 PM - Mike Glass: I have a wacom tablet computer NFO
Sep 27, 2015 3:19 PM - Mike Glass: thats what im using now on my cnc
    Sep 27, 2015 3:19 PM - NFOsec: tablets are nice, I use a Wacom Cintiq 22HD.
Sep 27, 2015 3:20 PM - NFOsec: it's the center monitor in my 3 monitor set. one propped on desk, 32" on wall in front and 24" on left. I want to get rid of the 24 and put in 2 32" cockpit style.
Sep 27, 2015 3:21 PM - NFOsec: got the cards, adapters, etc. just need to grab 2. cheap enough now, like $180 each.
Sep 27, 2015 3:21 PM - NFOsec: I remember seeing that configuration YEARS ago when FlightSim first came out. I thought it was awesome.
Sep 27, 2015 3:22 PM - NFOsec: Krouton: I noticed you didn't use bondo?! LOL.
    Sep 27, 2015 3:22 PM - NFOsec: ah, gone.
    Sep 27, 2015 3:23 PM - krouton3: lol yea i just soldered
Sep 27, 2015 3:23 PM - NFOsec: still, nice picture, good job for what you had to work with. LOL.
Sep 27, 2015 3:24 PM - NFOsec: so, I wonder if Robo takes suggestions. cut straight down the top bridge of the cover, put edge grroves or tabs on with maybe a simple clamp or screw on for quick release, and create a removable cover.
Sep 27, 2015 3:26 PM - krouton3: only one person at the convention knew it was 3d printed
Sep 27, 2015 3:27 PM - krouton3: had some people think i milled it out of alluminum
Sep 27, 2015 3:29 PM - Mike Glass: this is dubbed a medical tablet. sealed so you can wipe it down.
Sep 27, 2015 3:36 PM - Mike Glass: dam bugs are pooen on my projects
Sep 27, 2015 3:50 PM - Mattchu: I saw em testing a mega a few months ago when I stopped by.
Sep 27, 2015 3:50 PM - Mattchu: also home finally.
Sep 27, 2015 3:50 PM - Mattchu: and the wacom tablet compys are niiiice
Sep 27, 2015 4:04 PM - Mike Glass: matt my project failed
Sep 27, 2015 4:07 PM - Mattchu: what happened Mike?
Sep 27, 2015 4:08 PM - Mattchu: did it just keep shattering the top layer?
Sep 27, 2015 4:09 PM - Mike Glass: yea and my z got stuck
Sep 27, 2015 4:10 PM - Mike Glass: started cutting full depth across the board
    Sep 27, 2015 4:10 PM - Mattchu: oh crapola
Sep 27, 2015 4:10 PM - Mattchu: got the code from it?
    Sep 27, 2015 4:11 PM - Mike Glass: yea
Sep 27, 2015 4:11 PM - Mattchu: email it my way?
Sep 27, 2015 4:11 PM - Mike Glass: yep its coming
Sep 27, 2015 4:14 PM - Mattchu: looking it over now...how about this for running code =-D
    Sep 27, 2015 4:14 PM - Mattchu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...92715-_-EMC-092715-Index-_-index-_-83-282-442

Sep 27, 2015 4:16 PM - Mike Glass: I rather have core solo
Sep 27, 2015 4:16 PM - Mattchu: think I should hop on it then?
Sep 27, 2015 4:16 PM - Mike Glass: my cnc tablet is core dual
Sep 27, 2015 4:17 PM - Mike Glass: and my printer laptop is core dual, im in the stone ages
Sep 27, 2015 4:19 PM - Mattchu: the machine I use for most everything, including code generation and running the printer right now is an 8 core behemoth...but I'd like to place games without risking losing the print hahaha.
Sep 27, 2015 4:19 PM - Mattchu: which one did it lose its mind on mike?
Sep 27, 2015 4:19 PM - Mike Glass: let me check
    Sep 27, 2015 4:21 PM - Mike Glass: cutout 211
    Sep 27, 2015 4:22 PM - bamhm182: Hey guys
Sep 27, 2015 4:22 PM - Mike Glass: Hey bam
Sep 27, 2015 4:23 PM - bamhm182: One of these days I'm going to learn to check my gcode before starting a 12 hour print, but today is not that day
    Sep 27, 2015 4:23 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
Sep 27, 2015 4:24 PM - Mattchu: I'd have to say I'm stumped. code looks solid if the rest of it ran
Sep 27, 2015 4:24 PM - Mike Glass: yea think it was a z malfunction
    Sep 27, 2015 4:24 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
    Sep 27, 2015 4:25 PM - bamhm182: Thankfully hot glue is a thing
Sep 27, 2015 4:25 PM - bamhm182: Still going to have to reprint his left arm though
    Sep 27, 2015 4:29 PM - Mattchu: that's the only thing I can think of, Mike. :(
Sep 27, 2015 4:31 PM - Mattchu: whatcha think of this one mike? madness...

    Sep 27, 2015 4:39 PM - bamhm182: Pretty good deal
    Sep 27, 2015 4:40 PM - Mattchu: *hems/haws*
Sep 27, 2015 4:41 PM - Mattchu: and I keep going back to this thing
    Sep 27, 2015 4:41 PM - Mattchu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883282442
Sep 27, 2015 4:42 PM - bamhm182: I plan on building an HTPC for my garage when I have money again
Sep 27, 2015 4:43 PM - bamhm182: Doesn't need to be too beefy, just want something that will be able to stream both my printers without completely dying
    Sep 27, 2015 4:44 PM - Mattchu: right?
Sep 27, 2015 4:44 PM - Mattchu: I mean, I don't think I'd even be making code on them (totally a lie, I'd absolutely install Simplify3D on it)
Sep 27, 2015 4:44 PM - Mike Glass: damn thats chaep
    Sep 27, 2015 4:44 PM - Mattchu: well it's a refirb, mike.

Sep 27, 2015 4:46 PM - Mike Glass: pentium. noooo
    Sep 27, 2015 4:46 PM - Mattchu: lol I know right?
Sep 27, 2015 4:47 PM - Mike Glass: that may be older than you
Sep 27, 2015 4:48 PM - Mattchu: lies. I can prove it: I actually blew air into nintendo cartridges, and remember "Be Kind Rewind"
Sep 27, 2015 4:48 PM - Mike Glass: well not that far off
    Sep 27, 2015 4:49 PM - Mattchu: hahaha
Sep 27, 2015 4:50 PM - Mike Glass: i was in my 20s playing nintendo
Sep 27, 2015 4:50 PM - Mattchu: definitely got some grey beard status on me then ;)
    Sep 27, 2015 4:51 PM - Mike Glass: not 50 but close
    Sep 27, 2015 4:51 PM - Mike Glass: but i still get carded..lol
    Sep 27, 2015 4:52 PM - Mattchu: then it's a win all around
Sep 27, 2015 4:53 PM - Mattchu: but yeah, looking at older PCs...kinda want a laptop though...
Sep 27, 2015 4:53 PM - Mattchu: I'll swing by staples tomorrow, I think I saw a winner there today.
Sep 27, 2015 4:54 PM - Mike Glass: i have a almost 10 year old dell on my printer, xps was major cost back in the day but still running so worth it.
Sep 27, 2015 4:55 PM - Mattchu: that's what I'm thinking with the HP all in one...they honestly were tanks, just not super pricey tanks.
Sep 27, 2015 4:55 PM - Mike Glass: more than the laser cutter..lol
Sep 27, 2015 4:57 PM - Mattchu: oh? what happened to the laser cutter?
Sep 27, 2015 4:58 PM - Mike Glass: be here thursday
    Sep 27, 2015 4:58 PM - Mattchu: ooooh
    Sep 27, 2015 4:58 PM - Mattchu: envious
Sep 27, 2015 4:59 PM - Mike Glass: well that what the say anyways
Sep 27, 2015 4:59 PM - Mattchu: do you have a tracking number?
Sep 27, 2015 5:00 PM - Mike Glass: not yet. did get an email today though
Sep 27, 2015 5:00 PM - Mike Glass: only coming from cali
    Sep 27, 2015 5:01 PM - Mattchu: very nice
Sep 27, 2015 5:01 PM - Mattchu: I wish I had space for all that stuff
Sep 27, 2015 5:01 PM - Mattchu: I'm upset I've got a lathe in storage as it is
Sep 27, 2015 5:05 PM - Mike Glass: i need to get my shopsmith back together
    Sep 27, 2015 5:26 PM - NFOsec: I'm upset you have a lathe an dI don't.
Sep 27, 2015 5:30 PM - Mattchu: lathes are pretty cheap, though getting a good one is hard.
Sep 27, 2015 5:30 PM - Mattchu: I still kick myself to this day for passing up on a hardinge lathe for 3 grand, because it was small and didn't realize what it was at the time.
Sep 27, 2015 5:35 PM - NFOsec: yeah, I do see "cheap" ones out there, but like you say, getting a good one (cheap) is hard.
Sep 27, 2015 5:44 PM - Mattchu: mine's an OG Jet from the wayback days. Not saying a Jet isn't good now...but you're not 100% certain where all of it is made.
Sep 27, 2015 5:44 PM - Mattchu: if you do get one, make sure it can take 5c collets...that's a deal breaker for me in a big way if it cannot.
Sep 27, 2015 5:46 PM - NFOsec: thanks for the advice.
Sep 27, 2015 5:46 PM - Mattchu: eh, it's minor...just something you end up wishing you had later on down the road usually.
Sep 27, 2015 5:46 PM - NFOsec: mm... printing spool end-cap holders, good to see after 4 days of downtime.
    Sep 27, 2015 5:46 PM - NFOsec: right.
Sep 27, 2015 5:47 PM - Mattchu: for holding the ABS on the standard robo spool holder, NFO?
Sep 27, 2015 5:48 PM - NFOsec: well, it's for holding multiple spide spindle holes.
    Sep 27, 2015 5:48 PM - Mattchu: oooh
    Sep 27, 2015 5:49 PM - Mattchu: can I see?
Sep 27, 2015 5:49 PM - NFOsec: I have an on-top-of-the mountain spool holder printed. the advantage is these cone-type end-caps that spin them clean.
Sep 27, 2015 5:50 PM - NFOsec: thingiverse was: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:767317 I extended the cone to take up to a 1/2" hole. I think that's the right terminology. a whole is a hole is a ho.
    Sep 27, 2015 5:51 PM - Mattchu: ooooh I like that
Sep 27, 2015 5:52 PM - NFOsec: at least it is a clean spin.
Sep 27, 2015 5:52 PM - Mattchu: I may have to join you in making that...but, I was hoping to use an old enclousre for the machine (and it will fit the printer, only with the spool on the back side)
Sep 27, 2015 5:52 PM - NFOsec: I was going to use some precision bearings.
Sep 27, 2015 5:52 PM - Mattchu: skateboard bearings are precise enough.
    Sep 27, 2015 5:52 PM - NFOsec: well, top-fed has been good.
Sep 27, 2015 5:52 PM - NFOsec: yeah, that is the idea.
    Sep 27, 2015 5:59 PM - bamhm182:
    Sep 27, 2015 5:59 PM - bamhm182: Blastoise turned out pretty good.
Sep 27, 2015 6:00 PM - NFOsec: lot of supports eh?
Sep 27, 2015 6:00 PM - Mike Glass: nice music
Sep 27, 2015 6:01 PM - Mike Glass: all snap together pieces I think
    Sep 27, 2015 6:01 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, there was a good bit
    Sep 27, 2015 6:01 PM - bamhm182: Nah
Sep 27, 2015 6:01 PM - bamhm182: You'll like how they were put together. Lots of hot glue
Sep 27, 2015 6:02 PM - NFOsec: oh? how big are we alkitng?
Sep 27, 2015 6:04 PM - NFOsec: what are you using for displaying the stats (time, etc.)
    Sep 27, 2015 6:05 PM - Mike Glass: x-split ?
Sep 27, 2015 6:06 PM - Mike Kelly: [IMG] Base frame
Sep 27, 2015 6:06 PM - Mike Kelly: upside down
Sep 27, 2015 6:06 PM - NFOsec: no, it's one of the elemtns added to the screen.
Sep 27, 2015 6:06 PM - NFOsec: Ah, the trusty Kreg screws. :)
Sep 27, 2015 6:07 PM - Mike Kelly: [IMG] Surface
Sep 27, 2015 6:08 PM - Mike Glass: vacuum table sit in the hole?

Sep 27, 2015 6:08 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah the piece the tape measure is on is for the vacuum table
Sep 27, 2015 6:08 PM - bamhm182: He's about 110mm tall. I have two cameras linked to OBS(Like XSplit, but it works on OS X). One camera is pointed at my LCD screen, the other is pointed at the bed
Sep 27, 2015 6:09 PM - Mike Kelly: it's a really snug fit, but i'm gonna screw it down in the corners just because
Sep 27, 2015 6:12 PM - NFOsec: I see, so the time start, etc. is coming from the console if you will?
Sep 27, 2015 6:13 PM - Mattchu: so question...since I'm looking and crafting an enclosure...I presume doing a full box around the whole thing isn't something the electronics love too much (from the forum grumbles).
Sep 27, 2015 6:15 PM - NFOsec: what about the enclosure used on Printed Solid, I think that's Mike Kelly's design?
    Sep 27, 2015 6:15 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i wouldn't enclose the electronics
Sep 27, 2015 6:15 PM - Mattchu: haven't seen it. care to show off, Mike? =-D
Sep 27, 2015 6:15 PM - Mike Kelly: if you want to make your own the designs on thingiverse
Sep 27, 2015 6:16 PM - NFOsec: Mattchu: this is where I am with the print of the spool ends. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFBI7yRGSBTmPf1agFXiCGg/live
    Sep 27, 2015 6:16 PM - Mike Kelly: http://printedsolid.com/collections/3d-printers/products/robo-3d-safety-enclosure-kit :)
Sep 27, 2015 6:16 PM - Mattchu: I'm down with that. thinking of asking the bosses at work to let me get some late night free mill time.
Sep 27, 2015 6:17 PM - NFOsec: yeah, I'd suggest 3D printing it in black PLA at 10mm/sec and wait a few years.
    Sep 27, 2015 6:17 PM - NFOsec: :)
Sep 27, 2015 6:17 PM - NFOsec: stream seems to work.
    Sep 27, 2015 6:17 PM - Mattchu: looks good!
    Sep 27, 2015 6:17 PM - Mike Kelly: thanks
Sep 27, 2015 6:18 PM - NFOsec: see it now?
Sep 27, 2015 6:18 PM - Mattchu: that's smexy mike. admittedly a tad outta budget for me right now. :(
    Sep 27, 2015 6:18 PM - NFOsec: time for a snack.
    Sep 27, 2015 6:18 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:681843
    Sep 27, 2015 6:18 PM - Mattchu: I see it NFO
Sep 27, 2015 6:18 PM - NFOsec: jolly rancher blue raspberry coming up.
Sep 27, 2015 6:19 PM - NFOsec: LOL. had my "robot" grab it off.
Sep 27, 2015 6:20 PM - NFOsec: not happy with the auto or manual focus though, my need to strategize on that again.
Sep 27, 2015 6:21 PM - Mattchu: the link no longer goes to the proper page, mike :(
Sep 27, 2015 6:21 PM - NFOsec: that enclosure needs thermal incubator gloves
Sep 27, 2015 6:22 PM - NFOsec: maybe an exhaust port to reduce negative pressure, and a static guard so you don't blow your board to bits.
Sep 27, 2015 6:22 PM - Mattchu: *hands you his furnace tongs*
Sep 27, 2015 6:22 PM - Mike Kelly: oh yeah
    Sep 27, 2015 6:22 PM - Mike Kelly: ugh
Sep 27, 2015 6:22 PM - Mike Kelly: most annoying thing ever, i don't understand why they needed to change it from forums to community
Sep 27, 2015 6:22 PM - Mattchu: lol, happens all the time to me at work, Mike. =-p
Sep 27, 2015 6:23 PM - Mattchu: community sounds more inclusive
    Sep 27, 2015 6:23 PM - NFOsec: perhaps it's a new church state?
Sep 27, 2015 6:23 PM - NFOsec: forum sounds more political.
Sep 27, 2015 6:23 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm pretty sure it was possible to make the redirects work
    Sep 27, 2015 6:23 PM - NFOsec: probably.
Sep 27, 2015 6:23 PM - Mike Kelly: but i guess that was too much to ask
    Sep 27, 2015 6:23 PM - NFOsec: bbiaf.
    Sep 27, 2015 6:23 PM - Mattchu: hahaha
Sep 27, 2015 6:24 PM - Mattchu: well, right now I'm thinking of calling in some favors with the plexiglass at work now...
Sep 27, 2015 6:24 PM - Mattchu: get some nice polycarb or lexan sheets cut
Sep 27, 2015 6:24 PM - Mattchu: and I'll keep you in the loop for the aluminum mounting plate ;)
Sep 27, 2015 6:25 PM - Mike Glass: isnt lexan poisioness to cut?
    Sep 27, 2015 6:25 PM - Mattchu: water jet =-D
Sep 27, 2015 6:26 PM - Mike Kelly: so Mattchu, wanna waterjet me some things ;)
Sep 27, 2015 6:26 PM - Mike Kelly: hey MG how do you align the feet so everything is square
Sep 27, 2015 6:26 PM - Mattchu: How big are we talking mike?
    Sep 27, 2015 6:27 PM - Mattchu: MK even.
Sep 27, 2015 6:28 PM - Mike Glass: you can use the the jig or just measure
Sep 27, 2015 6:29 PM - Mike Glass: it should be fairly simple, I just used a tape and marked it all out.
    Sep 27, 2015 6:32 PM - Mike Kelly: ah
Sep 27, 2015 6:36 PM - Mattchu: so those are the drawings for it on the thingiverse page?
Sep 27, 2015 6:40 PM - Mike Glass: yea cut them out yourself you can
    Sep 27, 2015 6:40 PM - Mattchu: will do...what do you need water jet'd?
    Sep 27, 2015 6:41 PM - danzca6: evening gentlemen
    Sep 27, 2015 6:41 PM - bamhm182: Hey dan
    Sep 27, 2015 6:41 PM - Mattchu: or perhaps turned/milled.
Sep 27, 2015 6:43 PM - danzca6: Maker Faire was a blast today. Love that they couple with the harvest festival.
Sep 27, 2015 6:43 PM - Mattchu: *shakes fist* curse you dan!
Sep 27, 2015 6:43 PM - Mattchu: I have to wait a WEEK to go!
Sep 27, 2015 6:43 PM - Mike Kelly: i don't have anything in mind right now, maybe in the future :)
    Sep 27, 2015 6:43 PM - Mattchu: got ya
Sep 27, 2015 6:44 PM - danzca6: my son learned how to solder today, did some stain glass, and played a banana piano
Sep 27, 2015 6:44 PM - Mattchu: well, keep in mind: no exotic metals, and it has to fit in a 10x15 slot.
Sep 27, 2015 6:44 PM - Mike Kelly: anyone check out the lunar eclipse going on?
    Sep 27, 2015 6:44 PM - Mattchu: can't see it yet!
Sep 27, 2015 6:44 PM - Mike Kelly: what about stainless?
    Sep 27, 2015 6:45 PM - Mattchu: acceptable.
Sep 27, 2015 6:45 PM - danzca6: may have to go look. Isn't like 18 years until the next one?
Sep 27, 2015 6:46 PM - Mike Kelly: bah i can't find the squaring jig for the mpcnc
Sep 27, 2015 6:49 PM - Mattchu: sorry was trying to see the eclipse
Sep 27, 2015 6:50 PM - Mattchu: I can waterjet stainless, do it all the time.
Sep 27, 2015 6:52 PM - danzca6: Mattchu, which maker faire are you going to next week? Hopefully it's worth the wait.
Sep 27, 2015 6:54 PM - danzca6: I would love to have gone to the NY one this weekend, but the one in Milwaukee was more than enough for one day
    Sep 27, 2015 6:55 PM - Mattchu: San Diego
Sep 27, 2015 6:57 PM - Mike Kelly: oh geez that took too long to find
Sep 27, 2015 6:58 PM - danzca6: First year as a full faire it looks like. Did you go to the mini last year?
    Sep 27, 2015 6:58 PM - NFOsec: back.
    Sep 27, 2015 6:58 PM - danzca6: Hey NFO
Sep 27, 2015 6:58 PM - NFOsec: danz: enjoy it?
    Sep 27, 2015 6:58 PM - danzca6: Big time!
    Sep 27, 2015 6:58 PM - danzca6: you?
Sep 27, 2015 6:59 PM - NFOsec: me too. yesterday.
Sep 27, 2015 6:59 PM - NFOsec: worth the trip, lots of fun.
Sep 27, 2015 6:59 PM - Mattchu: I went to the mini two years ago. but yeah first full one this year...it was super fun when I went last time
Sep 27, 2015 6:59 PM - danzca6: love having the harvest festival going. lots of great food to go with it all
Sep 27, 2015 6:59 PM - NFOsec: went to another building too where they had some tech crap going on. typical exhibit stuff.
    Sep 27, 2015 6:59 PM - NFOsec: glad I shared the info.
    Sep 27, 2015 6:59 PM - NFOsec: yeah.
Sep 27, 2015 7:00 PM - NFOsec: well, 64 minutes left on the spool ends.
    Sep 27, 2015 7:00 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
Sep 27, 2015 7:01 PM - danzca6: did you see the RC track out back? They were jumping cars 10-15 feet straight up in the air of this ramp and no damage. My RC I had as a kid would have died on the spot
Sep 27, 2015 7:01 PM - bamhm182: Got my water bottle guitars done. Now I just have to wait for everyone to go to bed so I can record them and be one step closer to being done with this damn class
Sep 27, 2015 7:01 PM - NFOsec: danz: yeah, had a chance to "play". I know a guy who does a lot of that.
Sep 27, 2015 7:02 PM - NFOsec: man, the RCs today kill what I started with in my time, but slot cars, and gas (which were pretty fast and dangerous) were nothing compared to the fun there.
    Sep 27, 2015 7:02 PM - danzca6: water bottle guitars...how does that work
Sep 27, 2015 7:03 PM - bamhm182: They've got a 50mm bolt in them, you use a screw driver to tension the string and pluck it with your finger
    Sep 27, 2015 7:03 PM - NFOsec: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFBI7yRGSBTmPf1agFXiCGg/live

Sep 27, 2015 7:03 PM - danzca6: play some freebird on those puppies?
Sep 27, 2015 7:03 PM - bamhm182: Looking good, NFO, what is it?
Sep 27, 2015 7:03 PM - bamhm182: Nah, just going to do Ode to Joy
Sep 27, 2015 7:03 PM - NFOsec: lol, controlled buddy, controlled. they were not about to let me do projectiles.
Sep 27, 2015 7:03 PM - danzca6: that's awesome bam...share the sound file if you can. Like to hear them
Sep 27, 2015 7:04 PM - NFOsec: they are ends to spools, I expanded them to support up to a 1/2" or greater hole, then I'm going to drop in precision bearings (like roller skating ones) so there is no tension on the spools.
Sep 27, 2015 7:05 PM - danzca6: NFO, did you get your coins done?
Sep 27, 2015 7:05 PM - NFOsec: I devised an idea for a self-correcting filament alignment where overlapping ones get caught and tend to mess up print jobs, but it's on a dinner napkin. :)
Sep 27, 2015 7:05 PM - NFOsec: oh, yeah, that turned out good too.
Sep 27, 2015 7:05 PM - bamhm182: They're a pain to play. I just hot glued a tuner to the side of my desk and pointed a camera at it. Just going to strum and slowly tune it until I get the note in tune, then say its name so that it's easy to extract the notes from the audio file
Sep 27, 2015 7:05 PM - NFOsec: you're talking about the coin changer right?
Sep 27, 2015 7:06 PM - bamhm182: Then I'm just going to take a whole bunch of tiny clips and put them one after the other
    Sep 27, 2015 7:06 PM - bamhm182: Don't know if that's cheating or not, but good enough
Sep 27, 2015 7:06 PM - danzca6: nfo, the commemorative coins you were hashing out the other day
Sep 27, 2015 7:07 PM - danzca6: sounds fair enough to me bam
Sep 27, 2015 7:07 PM - NFOsec: Oh, yeah, did 5, it's all I could muster since I couldn't source 100 cheap enough, but I asked a friend of mine in the promotional manufacturing side of the world to see what they can find.
Sep 27, 2015 7:08 PM - NFOsec: they're really sweet. used a brass/black and silver/black two-tone polished acrylic (it looks like the real metal) and lasered logo and honor on each side.
Sep 27, 2015 7:09 PM - NFOsec: took maybea ll but 20 minutes to do.
Sep 27, 2015 7:09 PM - NFOsec: I could make a mint on these if I could source them cheap.
    Sep 27, 2015 7:09 PM - danzca6: that's pretty cool, but I can see 100 would be a lot of work
    Sep 27, 2015 7:10 PM - danzca6: You need more printers
Sep 27, 2015 7:11 PM - NFOsec: oh, maybe you're on drugs, the coins themselves are metal/brass, the inserts were laserable acrylic. I did a 3DP version in gold PLA, but the challenge was only one side could be indented without doing a support on the bottom.
    Sep 27, 2015 7:11 PM - NFOsec: :)
Sep 27, 2015 7:12 PM - danzca6: haha...gotcha now. I thought you were printing them with special filament
Sep 27, 2015 7:12 PM - NFOsec: oh, no, what I did with "SEpcial filament" was the Tower of Pi -- aluminum PLA.
Sep 27, 2015 7:13 PM - NFOsec: turned out nice except two numbers out of a 8" tower in mid-point on opposite sides literally fell out as if they were not supported.
Sep 27, 2015 7:13 PM - NFOsec: no biggie, was fun and sure looked cool.
Sep 27, 2015 7:13 PM - Mike Glass: what do they look like.
Sep 27, 2015 7:14 PM - Mike Glass: the coins
Sep 27, 2015 7:14 PM - danzca6: MK, looking at the IR mount and my wires for the thermistor and such will get in the way. Is it acceptable to rotate the hot end around so the wires are under the extruder fan? maybe that would be too crowded as well.
    Sep 27, 2015 7:15 PM - NFOsec: [IMG]
Sep 27, 2015 7:15 PM - NFOsec: but I didn't take pictures of the finished product, but can.
Sep 27, 2015 7:16 PM - NFOsec: I was going to do something similar to what I saw on Thingiverse, but then felt it was too "cheap" http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:353569
Sep 27, 2015 7:16 PM - Mike Glass: you put acrylic inside?
    Sep 27, 2015 7:16 PM - NFOsec: yup.
Sep 27, 2015 7:17 PM - Mike Glass: I like this one better:)
    Sep 27, 2015 7:17 PM - Mike Glass: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:978505
Sep 27, 2015 7:17 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah dan you can rotate it
Sep 27, 2015 7:18 PM - NFOsec: you can search from Johnson Plastics, IP plastics, Laserbits.com (stuff like this) http://www.laserbits.com/plastic-sheets/gold-plastic-laminates.html
Sep 27, 2015 7:18 PM - NFOsec: laser cut the 1.75" inner piece after putting a design on them.
Sep 27, 2015 7:18 PM - NFOsec: really sharp and look darn good.
Sep 27, 2015 7:19 PM - Mike Glass: is that piece you postes made from that?
Sep 27, 2015 7:19 PM - Mike Glass: or is that actual metal
Sep 27, 2015 7:19 PM - NFOsec: that is the metal that the inserts go into.
Sep 27, 2015 7:19 PM - Mike Glass: how do I make one of those..lol
Sep 27, 2015 7:20 PM - NFOsec: get a really hot kiln, dig deep until you find enough ore, smelt away.
Sep 27, 2015 7:21 PM - NFOsec: I'll post pictures tomorrow, kind of on the personal warpath with cleaning up the creative work area. :)
    Sep 27, 2015 7:21 PM - NFOsec: bbiaf.
Sep 27, 2015 7:22 PM - Mike Glass: yea I need to prepare the office guess I could work on that.
Sep 27, 2015 7:24 PM - Mike Glass: finally got a spiral print to work.
Sep 27, 2015 7:27 PM - Mike Kelly: what was the ticket
Sep 27, 2015 7:30 PM - Mike Glass: use repetier w/cura slicer but had to enable combine everthing (type-b)
Sep 27, 2015 7:31 PM - Mike Glass: I could of swore I used slicr though for these glasses.
Sep 27, 2015 7:31 PM - Mike Glass: the robo light up red looks pretty effin cool
    Sep 27, 2015 7:32 PM - Mike Kelly: heh
    Sep 27, 2015 7:35 PM - Mattchu: back
    Sep 27, 2015 7:39 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
    Sep 27, 2015 7:39 PM - Mattchu: oooh, that's classy looking...glassy even.
Sep 27, 2015 7:40 PM - Mike Glass: actually its smoke black justpla
Sep 27, 2015 7:40 PM - Mike Glass: just one perimeter
    Sep 27, 2015 7:42 PM - Mattchu: I like it
Sep 27, 2015 7:42 PM - Mattchu: hey MK, this is the correct link right? http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/mike-kellys-robo3d-enclosure.2712/
Sep 27, 2015 7:42 PM - Mike Glass: wonder what would happen if I did a vapor on it. probably colapse
    Sep 27, 2015 7:42 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
    Sep 27, 2015 7:43 PM - Mattchu: sweet
Sep 27, 2015 7:43 PM - Mattchu: I'll butter up the waterjet guys tomorrow with donuts.
Sep 27, 2015 7:44 PM - Mike Glass: I could send you some butter if it will get me one.
Sep 27, 2015 7:46 PM - Mike Glass: now I wonder if I can fool cura that I have a bigger nozzle attached and do a thicker wall?
    Sep 27, 2015 7:46 PM - Mattchu: hehehe. I'll ask em.
    Sep 27, 2015 7:46 PM - Mattchu: that's what I should do tonight...install cura.
Sep 27, 2015 7:48 PM - Mike Glass: the new one has alot of settings(the beta). I like repetier better still. and s3d.
Sep 27, 2015 7:49 PM - Mattchu: I honestly haven't gotten S3D to work the way I want for controlling the printer.
Sep 27, 2015 7:49 PM - Mike Glass: ok lets see if it I fooled it, or if im the fool.
Sep 27, 2015 7:50 PM - Mattchu: honest, part of the reason I want the massive touch screen compy: big, glowing estop hahaha
Sep 27, 2015 7:50 PM - Mike Glass: its a little tricky at first but its really nice.. imo
Sep 27, 2015 7:51 PM - Mike Glass: the hotend hasnt melted my light yet:)
    Sep 27, 2015 7:51 PM - Mattchu: huzzah!
Sep 27, 2015 7:53 PM - Mike Kelly: i want to go work on the cnc but I also want to watch the lions-broncos game
Sep 27, 2015 7:54 PM - Mike Glass: oh smootball
Sep 27, 2015 7:55 PM - Mike Glass: dont you have a tv in the garage?
    Sep 27, 2015 7:55 PM - Mike Glass: 14/12 denver
    Sep 27, 2015 7:55 PM - Mike Glass: 14:14 left
Sep 27, 2015 7:56 PM - Mike Glass: I can give you play by play..lol
Sep 27, 2015 7:56 PM - Mike Kelly: no tv unfortunately
Sep 27, 2015 7:57 PM - Mike Glass: I used to stream tv when I had cable to another pc in the shop but now I just watch netflix..lol
Sep 27, 2015 7:57 PM - Mike Glass: but one of my monitors in the office is a hd tv/monitor
Sep 27, 2015 7:58 PM - Mike Glass: I really need to get 3 monitors hooked up, get to used to 4 at work.
    Sep 27, 2015 7:58 PM - danzca6: a mancave without a tv? unheard of :)
Sep 27, 2015 7:59 PM - Mike Kelly: we have a tv in the man cave
Sep 27, 2015 7:59 PM - Mattchu: just need to go full oculus rift :D
Sep 27, 2015 7:59 PM - Mike Glass: I think wifey parks in the mancave though.
    Sep 27, 2015 7:59 PM - danzca6: I'd like to get the 3 46" that barnucles has
Sep 27, 2015 7:59 PM - Mike Kelly: start a youtube channel, make tens of thousands of subscribers, get free shit
Sep 27, 2015 8:00 PM - danzca6: no doubt...he has his own maker space in free stuff and it just keeps pouring in
Sep 27, 2015 8:01 PM - Mattchu: ...now I want hot wings, MK.
Sep 27, 2015 8:01 PM - Mike Glass: So if I choose a bigger nozzle and higher layer height but use a smaller nozzle should it not extrude more plastic?
Sep 27, 2015 8:01 PM - Mike Kelly: who doesn't want hot wings?
Sep 27, 2015 8:02 PM - Mike Kelly: depending on the deviation you would be hard pressed to extrude enough plastic
Sep 27, 2015 8:03 PM - Mike Glass: well they say do that when using t-glase for glass like effect.
Sep 27, 2015 8:04 PM - Mike Glass: I do think it is working though

Sep 27, 2015 8:04 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah it worked for me with PETg
    Sep 27, 2015 8:04 PM - Mike Kelly: specced it at .5mm nozzle for a .4
Sep 27, 2015 8:05 PM - Mike Kelly: but it would extrude more yes
    Sep 27, 2015 8:05 PM - Mike Glass: thats what I did
Sep 27, 2015 8:06 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah that much difference won't make a big deal
Sep 27, 2015 8:06 PM - Mike Kelly: but if you did like .6 it would probably cause slipping on the hobb
Sep 27, 2015 8:07 PM - Mike Glass: the extruder isnt really working hard, I may try it, with enough heat it may work.
Sep 27, 2015 8:07 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah this is all anecdotal
Sep 27, 2015 8:07 PM - Mike Glass: I just need to make room, my tote is overfull
Sep 27, 2015 8:08 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i have that problem as well, my 2 totes are packed
Sep 27, 2015 8:10 PM - Mike Glass: im sure have 3 times what I have
Sep 27, 2015 8:11 PM - Mike Glass: I did finally got some petg
    Sep 27, 2015 8:11 PM - Mike Kelly: nice
Sep 27, 2015 8:11 PM - Mike Glass: got the trans blue
Sep 27, 2015 8:11 PM - Mike Glass: next is the green
Sep 27, 2015 8:11 PM - Mike Kelly: i liked it though i needed to use a really high infill in order to get it to not have pillowing
Sep 27, 2015 8:12 PM - Mike Glass: like 5 top layers or more?
Sep 27, 2015 8:12 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm not sure even that would do it
Sep 27, 2015 8:12 PM - Mike Kelly: it just kinda clumps up
Sep 27, 2015 8:12 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm not sure how it does with bridging either
Sep 27, 2015 8:13 PM - Mike Kelly: i think if the broncos get another touchdown i'm gonna go work on the cnc
Sep 27, 2015 8:13 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG] did you see this
    Sep 27, 2015 8:14 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i liked it
Sep 27, 2015 8:14 PM - Mike Kelly: need to print one of those, i love kirby
Sep 27, 2015 8:15 PM - Mike Glass: scrap hatchbox red I had a few yards left and then orange justpla
Sep 27, 2015 8:15 PM - Mattchu: I need to get that hatchbox abs...it's so friggin cheap.
Sep 27, 2015 8:15 PM - Mike Glass: cant believe how easy with s3d it is to switch filament
Sep 27, 2015 8:16 PM - Mike Glass: I only use hatchbox pla
Sep 27, 2015 8:16 PM - Mike Glass: the smell is pretty tame
Sep 27, 2015 8:17 PM - Mattchu: all the smells are tame on the robo since the alpha
Sep 27, 2015 8:17 PM - Mattchu: I had one of the OG robos with the J-head...PLA was sickly sweet, ABS smelled like I was doing terrible things to pepe le pew with a hot poker.
    Sep 27, 2015 8:19 PM - danzca6: there's an image
Sep 27, 2015 8:20 PM - Mattchu: and on that note, I'll brb...going to wings and things. :p
    Sep 27, 2015 8:20 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
Sep 27, 2015 8:20 PM - Mike Kelly: mg what technique did you use for filament swapping
Sep 27, 2015 8:21 PM - Mike Glass: on one where the filament was running out I hit pause raised it up 10mm changed filament extruded a bit, then 10mm down and resume
    Sep 27, 2015 8:22 PM - bamhm182: Nice Kirby, MG
    Sep 27, 2015 8:22 PM - Mike Kelly: gotcha
Sep 27, 2015 8:22 PM - Mike Glass: the door stop i made today I put a M0 at the layer in the gcode
Sep 27, 2015 8:23 PM - Mike Glass: I should of done it at a higher temp, the transparents like hotter for better transparent effect.
Sep 27, 2015 8:24 PM - Mike Glass: 210-220 is what I usually do them at, I did that one at 195 because of the overhang
    Sep 27, 2015 8:24 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm didn't know that
Sep 27, 2015 8:25 PM - Mike Kelly: man the lions cannot hold onto the damn ball
Sep 27, 2015 8:25 PM - danzca6: mg, thanks. I wondered how you would change out and get it extruding right away
Sep 27, 2015 8:25 PM - Mike Glass: at lots of fan, I did a test on a tower with different heat temps and fan speeds, I was shocked that more fan was better transparency.
    Sep 27, 2015 8:26 PM - Mike Kelly: same with t-glase? i didn't run a fan with that
    Sep 27, 2015 8:26 PM - danzca6: so the M0, that's like a built in pause to your gcode?
Sep 27, 2015 8:26 PM - Mike Glass: I ran it with both didnt really see a difference, but I havent made anyting big with t-glase
Sep 27, 2015 8:27 PM - Mike Glass: I wish I could find my notes I would post the cup I did with the picture showing the differnces.
Sep 27, 2015 8:28 PM - Mike Glass: guess it was a cylinder not a cup.
Sep 27, 2015 8:29 PM - Mike Glass: yes dan just put that after the layer you want pause at. but be aware it will sit on the part if you dont move the z with the control panel
Sep 27, 2015 8:30 PM - danzca6: MK, could be worse...could be a Bears fan today. "Does a bear shit in the woods?" Well, they sure do on the football field
    Sep 27, 2015 8:30 PM - danzca6: at least for today's game
Sep 27, 2015 8:31 PM - Mike Glass: Are up a lions fan MK?
Sep 27, 2015 8:32 PM - danzca6: mg, does s3d help doing the code insert or do you have to open the file?
Sep 27, 2015 8:32 PM - Mike Glass: yea save the gcode then you can print from the control panel.
Sep 27, 2015 8:33 PM - Mike Glass: save then modify the gcode first
Sep 27, 2015 8:33 PM - danzca6: ok...that would be slick if it would just do it for you using a tool in the software
Sep 27, 2015 8:33 PM - Mike Glass: I think you have to add it into the library after you modify it.
Sep 27, 2015 8:34 PM - Mike Glass: I cant check now but does it have a modify on the library tab?
    Sep 27, 2015 8:35 PM - danzca6: don't know. I haven't shelled out the cash for it just yet
Sep 27, 2015 8:36 PM - Mattchu: M0 is a pause. How'd it restart? you just hit print again MG?
    Sep 27, 2015 8:37 PM - Mike Glass: resume
    Sep 27, 2015 8:37 PM - Mattchu: got ya
Sep 27, 2015 8:37 PM - Mattchu: wonder if it'll take an M01...same code, but feels more kosher to me
Sep 27, 2015 8:37 PM - Mike Glass: its what I found on the s3d forums
Sep 27, 2015 8:38 PM - Mattchu: not arguing at all...just curious. I'll play with it later. after eatting food
    Sep 27, 2015 8:38 PM - Mike Glass: foooooodd
    Sep 27, 2015 8:42 PM - Mattchu: it's glorious MG
Sep 27, 2015 8:43 PM - Mike Glass: what is the place across the street?
    Sep 27, 2015 8:46 PM - Mattchu: for food? a wings n things
    Sep 27, 2015 8:52 PM - Mike Glass: yea
Sep 27, 2015 8:52 PM - Mike Glass: or is that frozen
    Sep 27, 2015 8:52 PM - Mattchu: oh it's a chain
Sep 27, 2015 8:52 PM - Mattchu: sports bar kinda place.
Sep 27, 2015 8:53 PM - Mike Glass: must be close to you though
Sep 27, 2015 8:53 PM - Mattchu: about two blocks away
    Sep 27, 2015 8:53 PM - Mike Glass: gotcha

Sep 27, 2015 9:14 PM - Mattchu: Okay all better on food. still looking up the M01...near as I can tell it's not officially supported. and I'm okay with that.
Sep 27, 2015 9:16 PM - Mike Glass: I just did a filament change on spiral mode, now thats tricky
    Sep 27, 2015 9:16 PM - Mattchu: like a vase? dammmmmn
    Sep 27, 2015 9:16 PM - Mattchu: nice
Sep 27, 2015 9:17 PM - Mike Glass: almost done, show you pic in a few
    Sep 27, 2015 9:19 PM - Mattchu: sweet
Sep 27, 2015 9:24 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG] I think I will make it a hanging light.
    Sep 27, 2015 9:24 PM - Mattchu: niiiice!
Sep 27, 2015 9:29 PM - Mike Glass: that was fooling it into a .5 nozzle, now gonna try .6 nozzle foolery.
    Sep 27, 2015 9:31 PM - Mattchu: lying?! shenanigans!
Sep 27, 2015 9:32 PM - Mike Glass: if I dont its way to thin and flexible.
    Sep 27, 2015 9:32 PM - Mike Glass: unless I use my .8 nozzle.
Sep 27, 2015 9:33 PM - Mattchu: so you're basically telling it it's a larger nozzle to increase flowrate?
Sep 27, 2015 9:36 PM - Mike Glass: yep so its a thicker shell
    Sep 27, 2015 9:36 PM - Mattchu: got ya.
Sep 27, 2015 9:36 PM - Mike Glass: smooshes it to a move oval for better transparency
Sep 27, 2015 9:36 PM - Mattchu: kinda brilliant actually, I like that.
Sep 27, 2015 9:37 PM - Mike Glass: plus it take less time to print
Sep 27, 2015 9:37 PM - Mike Glass: because you increase you layer height as well
Sep 27, 2015 9:37 PM - Mattchu: yeah I noticed you hammered that out in no time.
Sep 27, 2015 9:38 PM - Mike Glass: now will see if it will keep up with a .6 setting might be cutting it but will up the heat also
Sep 27, 2015 9:42 PM - Mike Glass: wow that is spitting out some plastic now
    Sep 27, 2015 9:46 PM - Mattchu: hahaha I bet
Sep 27, 2015 9:47 PM - Mike Glass: first one id did wat like 28000 lines this has 9700 lines
Sep 27, 2015 9:50 PM - Mike Glass: the extruder kept up but it it started drooping, might of been to much heat but only 5c diff, oh well, im off to bed have a long week ahead.
    Sep 27, 2015 9:53 PM - Mattchu: g'nite sir!
    Sep 27, 2015 9:53 PM - Mike Glass: night
    Sep 27, 2015 9:53 PM - Mattchu: I should do the same.
Sep 28, 2015 4:43 AM - daniel871: Huh. Got an email this morning saying my BigBox order was being packed for shipping. That has to be a glitch.
    Sep 28, 2015 4:53 AM - JeffTheMess: morning robonners
Sep 28, 2015 6:31 AM - JeffTheMess: did the forum die?
    Sep 28, 2015 6:51 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
    Sep 28, 2015 6:58 AM - Mike Glass: morning
    Sep 28, 2015 7:08 AM - daniel871: Morning.
Sep 28, 2015 7:09 AM - daniel871: Looks like the big box thing is less a glitch and more an automated thing in their system.
Sep 28, 2015 7:10 AM - daniel871: They printed the packing list, so I got an email. I'm in line to get one is about it.
Sep 28, 2015 7:11 AM - daniel871: Good weather today, overcast, cool and breezy but no rain until later today.
    Sep 28, 2015 7:13 AM - Bill Monroe: i guess that's good
    Sep 28, 2015 7:14 AM - daniel871: Feels good any way.
Sep 28, 2015 7:19 AM - daniel871: Figured I'll try turning the firmware pots up for the steppers after reading that if the steppers aren't getting enough juice the inertia on a rapid traverse could cause the bed to overpower the strpper and keep sliding a short distance.
Sep 28, 2015 7:20 AM - daniel871: Feel like its a long shot but might as well try it.
Sep 28, 2015 7:52 AM - Mike Glass: I wonder if there are voltages posted what others have used. wonder if waldo knows.
Sep 28, 2015 7:56 AM - Mike Glass: Freight company just called me, its here.
    Sep 28, 2015 8:04 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
    Sep 28, 2015 8:08 AM - danzca6: MG, your laser?

    Sep 28, 2015 8:15 AM - danzca6: needed a 3rd day off this weekend
Sep 28, 2015 8:17 AM - Mike Glass: yea for the laser? holy crap that was fast
Sep 28, 2015 8:17 AM - Mike Kelly: seriously wow
Sep 28, 2015 8:17 AM - Mike Kelly: how much was shipping on that mike
    Sep 28, 2015 8:17 AM - Mike Glass: Freeeee
Sep 28, 2015 8:18 AM - danzca6: wow...great deal. You'll be up all night playing with that tonight
Sep 28, 2015 8:18 AM - Mike Glass: I have no room for yet, I have to build a table top in my office..lol
Sep 28, 2015 8:19 AM - Mike Glass: I have some real nice sturdy metal legs for it , just need to screw a top on it.
    Sep 28, 2015 8:22 AM - jbigler1986: morning
Sep 28, 2015 8:23 AM - danzca6: It would be sitting on my dining room table until then. I couldn't just let it sit. Of course, I would get a tongue lashing from the mrs
Sep 28, 2015 8:23 AM - Mike Glass: Morning jb
    Sep 28, 2015 8:23 AM - jbigler1986: how is everyone
Sep 28, 2015 8:25 AM - Mattchu: I'd love a laser. so much envy right now.
Sep 28, 2015 8:25 AM - Mattchu: and dan, just build it into some nice oak and cover it with a table cloth, the Mrs. will never know!
Sep 28, 2015 8:25 AM - danzca6: after seeing all of the items laser etched and cut at the Faire yesterday, I really need to start saving for one
Sep 28, 2015 8:26 AM - Mike Glass: I did paypal payments, same as cash for 6 months.
Sep 28, 2015 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: just have mg cut them for you
    Sep 28, 2015 8:26 AM - danzca6: yeah...and that is way too tempting
Sep 28, 2015 8:26 AM - Mattchu: how much was it MK?
    Sep 28, 2015 8:26 AM - Mattchu: er MG
    Sep 28, 2015 8:27 AM - Mattchu: ugh, too many mikes >_<
    Sep 28, 2015 8:27 AM - Mike Glass: 1540 shipped
    Sep 28, 2015 8:28 AM - Mattchu: ...that's doable >_<
Sep 28, 2015 8:28 AM - jbigler1986: how did the Mrs. feel about that one
Sep 28, 2015 8:29 AM - Mattchu: he told her it's a new coffee table.
Sep 28, 2015 8:29 AM - Mike Glass: ha she didnt care, she's like thats cool.
Sep 28, 2015 8:29 AM - Mike Glass: since I told her I could engrave her glass wine bottles..lol
Sep 28, 2015 8:29 AM - Mattchu: I've no space at my place...I'd have to negotiate for space elsewhere
Sep 28, 2015 8:29 AM - danzca6: oh crap...great angle MG....I might have to do that with my wife
    Sep 28, 2015 8:30 AM - Mattchu: 4 axis mike?!
Sep 28, 2015 8:30 AM - danzca6: She thought my robo was silly until I made her a wine glass holder lanyard
Sep 28, 2015 8:30 AM - Mattchu: or it's able to refocus the beam?
Sep 28, 2015 8:30 AM - Mike Glass: yes it comes the the rotory tool
    Sep 28, 2015 8:30 AM - Mattchu: ooooooooh
    Sep 28, 2015 8:30 AM - PeterkSharma: you got a laser mg?
Sep 28, 2015 8:31 AM - PeterkSharma: is it an attachment or a laser engraver
Sep 28, 2015 8:31 AM - Mattchu: I would like to request video of this thing when you get it, MG.
Sep 28, 2015 8:31 AM - Mattchu: all put together
Sep 28, 2015 8:31 AM - Mike Glass: Yes sir, here in town ready to meet the freight at 1
Sep 28, 2015 8:32 AM - Mattchu: I'm waiting to here from the water jet guys at work on the polycarb, MG. they seemed to like my offering of donuts.
Sep 28, 2015 8:32 AM - Mike Glass: its a laser cutter/engraver, thing is huge
Sep 28, 2015 8:32 AM - Mattchu: what's the bed size mike? heck, you could probably cut the plastic before me :p
Sep 28, 2015 8:32 AM - Mike Glass: I would do that for a donut, thats my weekness
Sep 28, 2015 8:32 AM - PeterkSharma: how powerful is the laser in something like that?
    Sep 28, 2015 8:33 AM - Mike Glass: 300x500
    Sep 28, 2015 8:33 AM - Mike Glass: 50w laser Peter
    Sep 28, 2015 8:33 AM - PeterkSharma: co2?
    Sep 28, 2015 8:33 AM - Mike Glass: yes
    Sep 28, 2015 8:33 AM - PeterkSharma:
Sep 28, 2015 8:34 AM - Mattchu: based on my calculations...yeah, you could fit it on there, mike with the teensyest of wiggle room.
Sep 28, 2015 8:34 AM - Mike Glass: I had ordered glasses and a honeycomb table aslo, but not sure it if will work, might have to cut it down :(
Sep 28, 2015 8:35 AM - PeterkSharma: can you laser cut mirrors/relfective surfacces?

Sep 28, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Glass: plastic and wood
Sep 28, 2015 8:36 AM - Mattchu: so theoretically (I don't want to be in that room) reflective mylar then
Sep 28, 2015 8:36 AM - Mike Glass: you use masking tape i believe
Sep 28, 2015 8:37 AM - Mike Kelly: so is the glass tube a water cooled HX?
Sep 28, 2015 8:37 AM - PeterkSharma: gotcha, you just need the heat
Sep 28, 2015 8:37 AM - Mike Glass: yes it has a water cooling system, basically a pump in a bucket of water.
    Sep 28, 2015 8:37 AM - Mattchu: daaaaamn
Sep 28, 2015 8:38 AM - Mattchu: can't wait to see this thing going, MG.
Sep 28, 2015 8:38 AM - Mattchu: stop spending my money!
Sep 28, 2015 8:38 AM - Mike Glass: NFO has the same one, he likes it, not as nice as a epilog, but for the money its a no brainer
    Sep 28, 2015 8:39 AM - NFOsec: greets.
    Sep 28, 2015 8:39 AM - Mattchu: hey NFO.
    Sep 28, 2015 8:39 AM - danzca6: speaking of NFO...morning
Sep 28, 2015 8:39 AM - NFOsec: talking behind my monitor as I felt the instinct it was happening live.
Sep 28, 2015 8:39 AM - Mike Glass: and speak of the man that made me buy one..lol
Sep 28, 2015 8:40 AM - NFOsec: hey, don't blame me. just remember, if you have a Robo, you'll understand. :) LOL
Sep 28, 2015 8:40 AM - Mike Glass: NFo its here already
Sep 28, 2015 8:40 AM - NFOsec: people who are not technically inclined really shouldn't pursue one, because if you run into problems you'll be just as afraid to change a light bulb
    Sep 28, 2015 8:40 AM - NFOsec: Jeez.
    Sep 28, 2015 8:40 AM - Mike Glass: ikr
Sep 28, 2015 8:41 AM - NFOsec: well, the pre-check/set up thingy is pretty easy.
Sep 28, 2015 8:41 AM - Mattchu: MK, 1/4" material for the enclosure?
Sep 28, 2015 8:42 AM - Mattchu: and how precise do the cuts need to be? (I'm getting word there's a smidgen of taper in the WJ head right now).
Sep 28, 2015 8:42 AM - Mike Glass: I have to build my table still..lol
Sep 28, 2015 8:42 AM - NFOsec: for me, I actually grabbed oen oft hose 5 gallon pails with a lid, notched 2 holes for intake and outake, put pump on bottom,.
Sep 28, 2015 8:42 AM - Mike Kelly: slight taper won't be a big deal
    Sep 28, 2015 8:42 AM - Mike Kelly: i put up designs for 1/4" and 1/8" acrylic
Sep 28, 2015 8:43 AM - Mattchu: you need to set up a DI water system, MG. Go big or go home.
Sep 28, 2015 8:43 AM - Mike Glass: well it will be a diy water system.
Sep 28, 2015 8:43 AM - Mattchu: so a DIY DI water system?
    Sep 28, 2015 8:43 AM - Mike Glass: no just a diy..lol
Sep 28, 2015 8:45 AM - Mike Glass: distilled water, pour it in a pail.. there ya go
Sep 28, 2015 8:45 AM - NFOsec: well, just a holding resivoir for the water, that's all.
Sep 28, 2015 8:45 AM - NFOsec: yup, easy enough.
Sep 28, 2015 8:45 AM - Mattchu: but who knows what's in that water? There could be a high level of calcified electrolytes and dihydrogen monoxide! :p
Sep 28, 2015 8:45 AM - Mattchu: looking it over right now, MK...I think I'm blind today.
Sep 28, 2015 8:45 AM - NFOsec: not in distilled, and even so, it's only for cooling not sucking down your nostrils.
Sep 28, 2015 8:46 AM - Mattchu: I know NFO, never drink the distilled or DI water...mmmm good times there! ;-)
Sep 28, 2015 8:46 AM - Mike Glass: so how many gallons of distilled should I get NFO
Sep 28, 2015 8:47 AM - NFOsec: well, I bought 3 since they werre cheap, find I use about 1.5 for good coverage.
Sep 28, 2015 8:47 AM - NFOsec: key is volme by displacement of the pump in it, needs to be submerged.
Sep 28, 2015 8:47 AM - Mattchu: oh there it is, MK...was looking in the forum, the files were on the thingiverse page >_<
Sep 28, 2015 8:47 AM - NFOsec: distilled water here is $1/gallon at Walgreens.
Sep 28, 2015 8:47 AM - Mike Glass: more water probably keeps it cooler though right
Sep 28, 2015 8:48 AM - NFOsec: yeah, and some people use really good ice packs that don't leak as another cool as you go.
Sep 28, 2015 8:48 AM - Mike Glass: I got one of those temp monitors you linked also
Sep 28, 2015 8:48 AM - NFOsec: I haven't done any additional chilling to date, but I also haven't ran more than 2 hours straight at 100% power.
Sep 28, 2015 8:48 AM - Mattchu: run it through a cooler, with a metal box filled with dry ice in the middle of it
    Sep 28, 2015 8:48 AM - NFOsec: yeah, that's a little fun thing.
Sep 28, 2015 8:49 AM - Mike Glass: the inline water one with the light
Sep 28, 2015 8:49 AM - NFOsec: yeah, the CW-3000 is a fan-type type cooler, the CW-5000 is refridgerant (but like 2-3x the cost). I wasn't going to invest in that for a while.
    Sep 28, 2015 8:49 AM - NFOsec: yeah, it's cool.
Sep 28, 2015 8:50 AM - Mike Glass: how is the clock comming along
Sep 28, 2015 8:50 AM - NFOsec: you're ahead of the game with me on electronics, etc. so you'll have more fun.
Sep 28, 2015 8:50 AM - NFOsec: well, just started printing again last night after a 4 day sabatical. Needed to reset and take care of thermistor inconsistencies, etc. printed some really sharp spool ends yesterday, so back at it today/tomorrow.
Sep 28, 2015 8:51 AM - Mike Glass: your printing the base for it?
Sep 28, 2015 8:52 AM - NFOsec: I'm printing channels for holding the slots (test idea). The base is better off acrylic cut, that material comes tomorrow (ordered what I didn't have).
Sep 28, 2015 8:54 AM - Mike Glass: you using 1/8 for that?
Sep 28, 2015 8:55 AM - NFOsec: 1/8 may work, but I have 1/4 coming in (looking at weight/durability too).
Sep 28, 2015 8:55 AM - NFOsec: 1/8 would be more than sufficient though.
Sep 28, 2015 8:55 AM - Mattchu: MK, do the DWG files have the holes/hole locations in them? or just the dimensions?
    Sep 28, 2015 8:56 AM - Mike Kelly: sure
Sep 28, 2015 8:56 AM - PeterkSharma: mars has water!
Sep 28, 2015 8:56 AM - Mike Kelly: do you have smooth rods for your Y axis or still using the beta/kickstarter drawer slides
Sep 28, 2015 8:57 AM - Mike Glass: dont use elmers glue to put that together Matt
Sep 28, 2015 8:57 AM - Mattchu: I was going to use red loctite and weld on, MG =-D
Sep 28, 2015 8:59 AM - Mattchu: smooth rods. I'm running almost entirely R1+ now, I believe. magnetic bed, true acme lead screws w/o couplers.
Sep 28, 2015 8:59 AM - Mike Glass: I have some plexiglass glue, comes in a brown bottle, it has a syringe to that you suck up and use glue the parts together, works really clean and nice

    Sep 28, 2015 9:01 AM - Mike Kelly: can't see why not
    Sep 28, 2015 9:01 AM - NFOsec: a pi shouldn't have a problem driving a robo.
    Sep 28, 2015 9:02 AM - jbigler1986: very nice
Sep 28, 2015 9:02 AM - NFOsec: whether it be apple, cherry, blueberry or mince meat.

Sep 28, 2015 9:04 AM - Mike Kelly: one really interesting one was a saltwater gose

Sep 28, 2015 9:11 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it's hard to see everything
Sep 28, 2015 9:11 AM - Mike Kelly: my wife keeps saying one year we'll go to a thursday and saturday session
Sep 28, 2015 9:11 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't think my body can handle that
Sep 28, 2015 9:11 AM - NFOsec: MK: you could always get a laser and rejuvenate yourself.
    Sep 28, 2015 9:11 AM - NFOsec: lol.
    Sep 28, 2015 9:12 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
Sep 28, 2015 9:12 AM - NFOsec: I can tell back when I had the first small batch of Leinekugels before it hit the mainstream and became a brewed brand.
Sep 28, 2015 9:13 AM - Mike Glass: Leinekugels is evil,
Sep 28, 2015 9:13 AM - NFOsec: Aside from slamming 8 or 12oz glasses in < 2 seconds to quickly taste test during frat parties, I don't know...
Sep 28, 2015 9:13 AM - NFOsec: yeah. it is, but when it was small batch, it wasn'tba d.
Sep 28, 2015 9:13 AM - NFOsec: lots of these things lose their flavour profiles when they go mainstream.
Sep 28, 2015 9:14 AM - Mike Glass: good stuff, but just evil
Sep 28, 2015 9:14 AM - NFOsec: rude dog from a micro-brewery in St. Francis, WI (south milwauee/cudahy area) was pretty good.
Sep 28, 2015 9:14 AM - NFOsec: I enjoyed the microbreweries in Palo Alto back in the day (say 20 years ago).
Sep 28, 2015 9:15 AM - Mike Kelly: welp just finished all the work i had to do
Sep 28, 2015 9:15 AM - NFOsec: you could pay $12, get a 4-oz sampling of 8-10 bears AND get a really nice 3 course lunch.
Sep 28, 2015 9:15 AM - NFOsec: MK: all before 12:00 central too!
Sep 28, 2015 9:15 AM - Mike Glass: you going home now MK..lol
    Sep 28, 2015 9:15 AM - Mike Kelly: i really should
Sep 28, 2015 9:16 AM - NFOsec: MG: you can't really go home if you're already "home", he lives at work.
Sep 28, 2015 9:16 AM - Mike Kelly: i think it's colorado state law that if a full time worker works any part of the day, they get paid for the full day
Sep 28, 2015 9:16 AM - NFOsec: probably doing the boss too.
    Sep 28, 2015 9:16 AM - NFOsec: a favor too I meant.
Sep 28, 2015 9:16 AM - NFOsec: MK: it's also considered work if you have to roll one and smoke it during the commute.
    Sep 28, 2015 9:17 AM - Mike Glass: lol
Sep 28, 2015 9:17 AM - NFOsec: salaried folks was it? not hourly though right?
Sep 28, 2015 9:17 AM - Mike Kelly: right salaried
    Sep 28, 2015 9:17 AM - NFOsec: that's the beauty of things.
Sep 28, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Kelly: i wish they'd just lay me off but i won't be so lucky
Sep 28, 2015 9:18 AM - NFOsec: go in, work 5 minutes by finishing your morning coffee, then leave.
Sep 28, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Glass: nfo, can you point me where you get your plexi stock and what you order?
Sep 28, 2015 9:18 AM - NFOsec: MK: I'd love to move to CA, get laid off, and come back here while reaping the rewards.
    Sep 28, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't wanna be fired though
Sep 28, 2015 9:18 AM - NFOsec: but I'm too ethical, I need to get fired.
Sep 28, 2015 9:20 AM - Mike Kelly: i really wish my contracting company would hurry up and get investment already so i can work for them from home
Sep 28, 2015 9:20 AM - Bill Monroe: exactly what rewards do you think you'd get from california?
Sep 28, 2015 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: Mattchu were you going to make 1/4" or 1/8"
Sep 28, 2015 9:23 AM - NFOsec: the fact that I could claim I was part of the great escape.
Sep 28, 2015 9:23 AM - Bill Monroe: well if that's all you need for a reward... seems a little thin though :)
Sep 28, 2015 9:23 AM - NFOsec: CA unfortunately has a few things that I consider excessive "entitlements", but other than shortage of water, lots of over-actors, and some great tech companies, a fun place to be...
Sep 28, 2015 9:24 AM - NFOsec: Bill: So is the San Andreas fault.
Sep 28, 2015 9:24 AM - Mattchu: either or. I'd rather the 1/8" for weight.
    Sep 28, 2015 9:24 AM - Mattchu: but I like how the 1/4" looks
Sep 28, 2015 9:25 AM - Bill Monroe: im not aware of any entitlements.. of course, I'm legal and white
Sep 28, 2015 9:25 AM - NFOsec: you've got that going for you. I think you've figured out part of the other problem.
Sep 28, 2015 9:25 AM - Mike Kelly: and a ridiculous cost of living
Sep 28, 2015 9:25 AM - Bill Monroe: with an appropriate high pay scale
Sep 28, 2015 9:25 AM - NFOsec: a state that was once prominent and full of life/money is suffering because of those who piflered the coffers.
    Sep 28, 2015 9:25 AM - NFOsec: yeah.
Sep 28, 2015 9:26 AM - Mattchu: california is one of the few states that actually requires 6 weeks maternity leave.
Sep 28, 2015 9:26 AM - Mike Kelly: wealth disparity? yes please
Sep 28, 2015 9:26 AM - Mike Kelly: well matt lemme know and i'll get you the model
Sep 28, 2015 9:26 AM - NFOsec: and if you let someone go, you're required to pay unemployment right?
Sep 28, 2015 9:26 AM - Mike Glass: even for men Matt?
    Sep 28, 2015 9:26 AM - Bill Monroe: no
Sep 28, 2015 9:26 AM - Mike Kelly: since you have the smooth rods you can just cut 2 backs
    Sep 28, 2015 9:26 AM - Mattchu: yes mike
    Sep 28, 2015 9:27 AM - Mike Kelly: so 1/8"
    Sep 28, 2015 9:27 AM - Mike Kelly: ?
Sep 28, 2015 9:27 AM - Mattchu: my male co-workers have kids, they get 6 weeks off with pay.
    Sep 28, 2015 9:27 AM - Mattchu: yeah we'll do 1/8"
Sep 28, 2015 9:27 AM - Bill Monroe: unimployment insurance comes out of your paycheck... it's no entitlement, it's an insurance policy
    Sep 28, 2015 9:27 AM - Mike Kelly: ok
Sep 28, 2015 9:27 AM - Mattchu: it hsould be rigid enough.
    Sep 28, 2015 9:27 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Sep 28, 2015 9:27 AM - NFOsec: well, I'm reminded of that old stupid movie "Rabbit Test"r where Billy Crystal gave birth, he didn't even get 6 weeks.
Sep 28, 2015 9:28 AM - Mike Glass: no wonder why the have like average of 4 kids, its a vacation every 9 months..lol not
    Sep 28, 2015 9:28 AM - Mattchu: atmamatt@gmail.com is mine, MK.
Sep 28, 2015 9:28 AM - Mike Kelly: this is why i want to move to norway

    Sep 28, 2015 9:29 AM - Mattchu: :p
Sep 28, 2015 9:29 AM - Mattchu: I could really mock you, and show how close to the Stone Brewery I am...both of them :p

Sep 28, 2015 9:30 AM - Mike Kelly: ship me a bottle of the your father smells of elderberries
Sep 28, 2015 9:30 AM - NFOsec: mm... stone and brewery in one name.
Sep 28, 2015 9:30 AM - Mattchu: I live less than 5 miles from one, and the other one is a 5 minutes drive from work.
Sep 28, 2015 9:30 AM - Mike Kelly: we tried to get it at GABF but they were out
    Sep 28, 2015 9:30 AM - Bill Monroe: carlsbad?
    Sep 28, 2015 9:31 AM - Mattchu: nah, Poway.
    Sep 28, 2015 9:31 AM - Bill Monroe: <-- scripps ranch

    Sep 28, 2015 3:23 PM - Mike Glass: neato
Sep 28, 2015 3:23 PM - jim3Dbot: electronic prototyping small scale for many years, got all the toys like you guys got the mech. coverd nicely
    Sep 28, 2015 3:26 PM - jim3Dbot: Going to panel-lize 'em........4" x 4"..........v score panel...25 pieces...stencil......reflow....snap apart..........I'll make video of them i oven perhaps....
Sep 28, 2015 3:26 PM - Mike Glass: yeah I would like to see the process
Sep 28, 2015 3:27 PM - jim3Dbot: great..........I'll keep forum posting open thru the process..........should be interesting to some..
Sep 28, 2015 3:28 PM - Mike Glass: I like soldering and doing projects, I just dont know how they work..lol
Sep 28, 2015 3:29 PM - jim3Dbot: Cost wise......I may have to hit China.........email gerber files......brds 3 day turn around........2-3 days fedex .....may have in a week if tomorrows tests are good.......need to be a little cautious........
    Sep 28, 2015 3:31 PM - jim3Dbot: I hear you.........I'm so code challenged...........I can patch others code & combine snippits........but, my mind can't grasp that field....I'm too logical...
Sep 28, 2015 3:33 PM - Mike Glass: I still think its magic
Sep 28, 2015 3:34 PM - jim3Dbot: Been on the road since 6:30am, just got back, went thru donhue's stompin' ground this afternoon on the way south....I think I seen him on the side of the road............
Sep 28, 2015 3:34 PM - Mike Glass: I get the basic stuff, but how a chip does this and that, still magic
    Sep 28, 2015 3:34 PM - jim3Dbot: FM...fuckin' magic
Sep 28, 2015 3:35 PM - Mike Glass: yep, I use FM at work alot..lol
Sep 28, 2015 3:35 PM - Mike Glass: did he have his Carl's Jr's meal

    Sep 28, 2015 3:37 PM - jim3Dbot: It's a good thing......
    Sep 28, 2015 3:38 PM - jim3Dbot: road kill

    Sep 28, 2015 3:39 PM - jim3Dbot: over easy...right
    Sep 28, 2015 3:40 PM - donhuevo: twice baked
    Sep 28, 2015 3:41 PM - jim3Dbot: atmel.........1st time I flashed an atmel...........had to re layout that ISDN cable for the programmer I purchased.....cheap under $30...I think
    Sep 28, 2015 3:41 PM - jim3Dbot: 3xluv'ed
Sep 28, 2015 3:43 PM - jim3Dbot: bot it for the IR or still would of not done Atmel..Arduino stuff a few times..........uno
    Sep 28, 2015 3:44 PM - jim3Dbot: MG, waldo, & Ben are software guru.s???
    Sep 28, 2015 3:48 PM - jim3Dbot: Later fellas, my eyes r crossing...
    Sep 28, 2015 3:56 PM - danzca6: shoot, missed Jim
Sep 28, 2015 5:52 PM - daniel871: Ok, saw some improvement changing firmware pots. Was originally 135 for all axes, changed X to 145 and Y to 185. Almost finished a print without going off track on Y.
Sep 28, 2015 5:52 PM - daniel871: Just upped the Y value to 210 and started the same print again.
Sep 28, 2015 5:58 PM - jbigler1986: Anyone have a link for mk7 drive gear with 8mm bore in the states
    Sep 28, 2015 6:09 PM - Mike Kelly: i don't think the OD of a MK7 is much more than 8mm
Sep 28, 2015 6:10 PM - Mike Kelly: MG you around
Sep 28, 2015 6:12 PM - Mike Kelly: i just figured out he only put .05mm tolerance on all the conduit mounts
    Sep 28, 2015 6:16 PM - daniel871: Well, that didn't work.
    Sep 28, 2015 6:20 PM - jbigler1986: I have found mk7 with 8mm bore. Just not in the states
    Sep 28, 2015 6:21 PM - Mike Kelly: ah
Sep 28, 2015 6:21 PM - jbigler1986: Mk how do you think a high torque nema 17 will do? 95oz/inch
    Sep 28, 2015 6:24 PM - Mike Kelly: that's pretty stout
Sep 28, 2015 6:25 PM - Mike Kelly: you might want to upgrade to the TI drivers to get it enough current
    Sep 28, 2015 6:25 PM - jbigler1986: Says low current
Sep 28, 2015 6:25 PM - Mike Glass: im here now mk
Sep 28, 2015 6:26 PM - Mike Kelly: mg when you put your conduit through say the corner blocks, is it a tight fit or did they slide in for you
Sep 28, 2015 6:26 PM - Mike Kelly: also how's the laser cutter
Sep 28, 2015 6:26 PM - Mike Glass: it was fairly tight
    Sep 28, 2015 6:26 PM - Mike Kelly: i measured my conduit, like .923"
    Sep 28, 2015 6:27 PM - Mike Kelly: -.926"
Sep 28, 2015 6:27 PM - Mike Glass: use some paste wax it makes it easier.
    Sep 28, 2015 6:27 PM - Mike Glass: wow
Sep 28, 2015 6:27 PM - Mike Kelly: plus i printed in abs so it probably shrunk
Sep 28, 2015 6:27 PM - Mike Kelly: so i'm pretty sure his design gave it like NO tolerance
Sep 28, 2015 6:28 PM - Mike Glass: I think it depends on the structure if the print also, I've noticed
    Sep 28, 2015 6:28 PM - jbigler1986: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00PN...ue+nema+17&dpPl=1&dpID=41Vhzl14+gL&ref=plSrch
Sep 28, 2015 6:29 PM - Mike Kelly: orientation you mean?
Sep 28, 2015 6:29 PM - Mike Glass: didnt realize the size of the laser tube was the actual size of the case, holy hell.
Sep 28, 2015 6:29 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah man those tubes are freaking massive
Sep 28, 2015 6:29 PM - Mike Glass: no like infill, and how many perimeters
    Sep 28, 2015 6:29 PM - Mike Kelly: oh
Sep 28, 2015 6:30 PM - Mike Kelly: i think i need to reprint them
    Sep 28, 2015 6:30 PM - Mike Kelly: already ruined 2
Sep 28, 2015 6:30 PM - Mike Glass: it has a cutout so you can install a larger one as well.
Sep 28, 2015 6:30 PM - Mike Kelly: larger tube? jeez
Sep 28, 2015 6:30 PM - Mike Glass: yea you can to up to 60w on this one
Sep 28, 2015 6:31 PM - Mike Glass: its so huge in my office
Sep 28, 2015 6:31 PM - Mike Glass: THe table i made works good though
    Sep 28, 2015 6:32 PM - jbigler1986: Ha
Sep 28, 2015 6:33 PM - Mike Kelly: jb did you still want those things i got from robotdigg for you
    Sep 28, 2015 6:33 PM - jbigler1986: i do
    Sep 28, 2015 6:33 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
Sep 28, 2015 6:34 PM - jbigler1986: unless you need to use them
    Sep 28, 2015 6:34 PM - Mike Kelly: nope
Sep 28, 2015 6:34 PM - jbigler1986: MK do you still have that geared stepper adapter?
Sep 28, 2015 6:34 PM - Mike Kelly: i was just in my paypal account and saw the request notice
    Sep 28, 2015 6:34 PM - Mike Kelly: uh
Sep 28, 2015 6:34 PM - Mike Kelly: how so
    Sep 28, 2015 6:35 PM - jbigler1986: the nema 17 to geared stepper plate
Sep 28, 2015 6:35 PM - Mike Kelly: that was don but i believe there's a few on thingiverse
    Sep 28, 2015 6:35 PM - jbigler1986: trying to find one
Sep 28, 2015 7:12 PM - daniel871: Is there anyway to decompile a Hex file for editing in Arduino? The folks at Ultimachine sent me a generic Mendel firmware Hex file to test and the LCD display works under it, but neither the Robo coded firmware nor Waldo's latest RC firmware work with it for some reason.
Sep 28, 2015 7:13 PM - Mike Glass: what lcd is it?
    Sep 28, 2015 7:14 PM - daniel871: The Reprapdiscount XXL.
Sep 28, 2015 7:15 PM - daniel871: I have the adapter for the Rambo, and it works with their hex firmware, but all of their estep settings etc. are different from Robo's.
    Sep 28, 2015 7:15 PM - Mike Glass: interesting
    Sep 28, 2015 7:16 PM - daniel871: And Hex files as-is don't appear to allow for editing.
    Sep 28, 2015 7:16 PM - daniel871: Yeah.
Sep 28, 2015 7:16 PM - Mike Glass: so the normal robo code does not work on your board?
Sep 28, 2015 7:18 PM - daniel871: It half-ass works. Have to use Cura on a spare PC to attempt to print but it doesn't ever finish a print without shifting mid print and ruining the part.
Sep 28, 2015 7:19 PM - daniel871: Figure if I can eliminate whatever is keeping the LCD from working it may make it easier to fine-tune the rest of it.
Sep 28, 2015 7:20 PM - Mike Glass: what is the voltage settings for the steppers
Sep 28, 2015 7:21 PM - daniel871: No idea, the firmware uses amps.
    Sep 28, 2015 7:22 PM - daniel871: 135 = .75amps; 185 = 1.0amps is the commented reference scale to use.
    Sep 28, 2015 7:22 PM - daniel871: Under configuration_adv.h
Sep 28, 2015 7:23 PM - Mike Glass: just wondering if something isnt set right for that stepper you having issues with
    Sep 28, 2015 7:24 PM - daniel871: It got a little better setting Y at 185, but still failed.
Sep 28, 2015 7:25 PM - daniel871: Also my prints are ribbed to shit and not even 6mm tall before hard Y shifts happen.
    Sep 28, 2015 7:26 PM - daniel871: So much for lead screws.
Sep 28, 2015 7:26 PM - Mike Glass: buy a $13 mega and ramps and see if you can get it to print right.
    Sep 28, 2015 7:31 PM - Mike Kelly: what's going on here
Sep 28, 2015 7:31 PM - Mike Kelly: daniel do you need an engineer to come fix your printer
Sep 28, 2015 7:32 PM - daniel871: I need better documentation so I can figure it out myself.
Sep 28, 2015 7:33 PM - Mike Kelly: did you add locktite to your set screws for the Y pulley
Sep 28, 2015 7:33 PM - Mike Kelly: is your ramps cooling fan running
Sep 28, 2015 7:34 PM - daniel871: I'd like to know what Ultimachine is using to compile their firmware so that the LCD works in their provided generic Mendel Hex file, but the latest RC firmware Waldo posted doesn't work.
    Sep 28, 2015 7:34 PM - daniel871: Yes to everything Mike.
Sep 28, 2015 7:35 PM - daniel871: Did that back when I replaced the cracked glass bed that Robo claimed was due to too smooth a first layer.
Sep 28, 2015 7:36 PM - Mike Kelly: swap the stepper driver
    Sep 28, 2015 7:36 PM - daniel871: Can't very well do that on a Rambo mike.
    Sep 28, 2015 7:37 PM - Mike Kelly: oh
Sep 28, 2015 7:37 PM - daniel871: Rumba still has stepper drivers you can change, Rambo does not.
Sep 28, 2015 7:37 PM - Mike Kelly: have you ever witnessed a skip
Sep 28, 2015 7:39 PM - daniel871: It's less a skip and more an inertia problem. The Y axis Rapids to start a new layer and moves too far, but continues on like it is in the right spot.
Sep 28, 2015 7:39 PM - Mike Kelly: if you lower your XY movement speed does it stop
    Sep 28, 2015 7:42 PM - Mattchu: home

Sep 28, 2015 7:42 PM - daniel871: Haven't tried that, if it can't handle 60mm/s on PLA then it might as well be stripped for parts and shit canned.
    Sep 28, 2015 7:43 PM - Mike Kelly: PEBKAC
    Sep 28, 2015 7:44 PM - Mike Kelly: plus i didn't say print speed
Sep 28, 2015 7:44 PM - Mike Kelly: lower the rapid movement speed
Sep 28, 2015 7:44 PM - Mattchu: hey MK, I'm actually doing .250 now lol...all we could find for scrap in the shop was .250" makrolon.
Sep 28, 2015 7:45 PM - daniel871: Acceleration is down to 500 for everything except Z (already lower than that) and max is 1000.
Sep 28, 2015 7:45 PM - Mike Kelly: lol ok
Sep 28, 2015 7:45 PM - Mattchu: aka, namebrand polycarbonate
    Sep 28, 2015 7:46 PM - Mike Kelly: nice
Sep 28, 2015 7:46 PM - daniel871: again, I've tried pretty much everything we usually tell people that have print issues.
Sep 28, 2015 7:47 PM - Mike Kelly: did you lower the XY movement speeds
Sep 28, 2015 7:47 PM - daniel871: The only thing not lowered is X/Y jerk
    Sep 28, 2015 7:48 PM - Mike Kelly: dude
Sep 28, 2015 7:48 PM - Mike Kelly: listen to the words i'm saying
Sep 28, 2015 7:48 PM - Mike Kelly: lower the XY rapid travel movement speeds
    Sep 28, 2015 7:48 PM - Mike Kelly: the 150mm/s number
    Sep 28, 2015 7:50 PM - daniel871: That number is at 60 with the various 1st layer/perimeter/infill speeds at 20/60/80% of that.
    Sep 28, 2015 7:50 PM - daniel871: The printer is crawling.
Sep 28, 2015 7:51 PM - Mike Kelly: ok i still don't think you're changing the right number
    Sep 28, 2015 7:52 PM - Mike Kelly: http://cl.ly/image/1f14441W2L3C
Sep 28, 2015 8:01 PM - Mike Kelly: also let's see a video of this skipping
Sep 28, 2015 8:04 PM - daniel871: Check one of my last posts in the PEI thread for a pic.
Sep 28, 2015 8:06 PM - daniel871: Video will have to wait until the camera I ordered comes in tomorrow.
Sep 28, 2015 8:11 PM - daniel871: Phone posting because Windows 10 doesn't support my video card and the hardware compatibility check is a joke (also apparently Windows Update will install it overnight now if you reserved the upgrade).
Sep 28, 2015 8:15 PM - Mike Kelly: don't you have an android phone
Sep 28, 2015 8:17 PM - jbigler1986: i record with my phone all of the time
    Sep 28, 2015 8:17 PM - daniel871: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?attachments/image-jpeg.8447/
Sep 28, 2015 8:17 PM - daniel871: I'm not standing around recording for an hour.
Sep 28, 2015 8:18 PM - daniel871: That image took an hour for the printer to print befor I stopped it and took the pic.
    Sep 28, 2015 8:18 PM - Mike Kelly: that's a set screw issue man
Sep 28, 2015 8:19 PM - Mike Kelly: if you haven't checked lately then it's almost certainly the cause
Sep 28, 2015 8:22 PM - jbigler1986: could be the board overheating as well if you don't have a fan on it
Sep 28, 2015 8:22 PM - daniel871: Checked them the other day when you suggested that was the issue, and it lessened when I upped the pot setting in the firmware, but didn't eliminate it.
Sep 28, 2015 8:22 PM - Mike Kelly: do you have a heatsink on the stepper driver chip
Sep 28, 2015 8:23 PM - daniel871: There is the stock fan, but it looks to not be big enough.
    Sep 28, 2015 8:23 PM - daniel871: No.
Sep 28, 2015 8:24 PM - Mike Kelly: feel the stepper chip when it skips, i bet it's hot as hell
    Sep 28, 2015 8:29 PM - daniel871: Something like these? http://www.amazon.com/Cosmos-Alumin..._cp_229_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0AD18H6K8DFJ7PR5RMDN
    Sep 28, 2015 8:34 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
Sep 28, 2015 8:37 PM - daniel871: Ok. I'll get those and add them, then hopefully that will keep it cool long enough to print the bracket for the 80mm fan I have that can be put on there.
Sep 28, 2015 8:39 PM - Mike Kelly: you have no fan on it right now?
Sep 28, 2015 8:39 PM - daniel871: Vs the tiny stock fan that isn't moving enough air to cool everything.
Sep 28, 2015 8:42 PM - daniel871: The built in stepper drivers run in a line down one side, so the fan that is there isn't wide enough to blow on all of them. The 80mm fan will be next to the stock fan that is mainly blowing on the main chip and the extruder and Z drivers.
Sep 28, 2015 8:50 PM - Mike Glass: why woudl they not put heat sinks on them?
    Sep 28, 2015 9:01 PM - Mattchu: hey MG, how's your laser?

Sep 28, 2015 at 9:29 PM - krouton3: trying to decide what color filament to get next lol
Sep 28, 2015 at 9:33 PM - Mike Glass: why not have them all
Sep 28, 2015 at 9:37 PM - krouton3: i just need more filament and was gonna try and change it up this time
Sep 28, 2015 at 9:37 PM - krouton3: also makerbot filament is expensive haah
Sep 28, 2015 at 9:45 PM - Mike Glass: I just get the cheap stuff - hatchbox and Justpla, work just fine.
Sep 28, 2015 at 9:48 PM - krouton3: yea i got shaxon last time and it worked pretty well
Sep 28, 2015 at 9:49 PM - krouton3: the transparent didnt bother me cause i was spray painting over it anyways lo
Sep 28, 2015 at 10:08 PM - Mattchu: I'm just trying to cool off right now, MG...thinking about the laser and the enclosure
Sep 28, 2015 at 10:17 PM - Mattchu: MG, you said you had a rotab on your laser?
Sep 28, 2015 at 10:47 PM - Mattchu: MK, you around?
Sep 28, 2015 at 11:06 PM - nonmindo: anyone know if this is still the best hobbed bolt upgrade for the R1? I've noticed an increased amount of slipping on my R1v3, it hasnt really affected prints as of yet, but i can feel it when turning the gear and lightly holding the filament, not sure if just needs to be cleaned or if i need the new bolt. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Robo-3D-Hob...221562560673?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3
Sep 28, 2015 at 11:29 PM - Harry: Everyone/Anyone if you want to help with robbie please email me! We still have lots of parts we need printed! Thank you all!
Sep 29, 2015 at 4:56 AM - jbigler1986: @non, the teeth on the hobbed bolt are to far down on the bolt you linked to. if you look at the stock one the teeth are cut way closer to the head of the bolt
Sep 29, 2015 at 5:14 AM - JeffTheMess: good morning roboneers

Sep 29, 2015 at 7:16 AM - Bill Monroe: why do you need that?
    Sep 29, 2015 at 7:17 AM - jbigler1986: or a 5mm bore and 8mm bore one
    Sep 29, 2015 at 7:17 AM - jbigler1986: i have a 8mm shaft stepper that needs a mk7 driver gear that I am using on the 6mm shaft one I have
Sep 29, 2015 at 7:18 AM - jbigler1986: I would rather buy a drive gear vs another geared stepper
Sep 29, 2015 at 7:18 AM - Bill Monroe: and here I am using a stock setup
    Sep 29, 2015 at 7:19 AM - jbigler1986: well that's no fun

Sep 29, 2015 at 7:20 AM - jbigler1986: it's probably going to end up being another geared stepper and bore it out. lots more available at 5mm
    Sep 29, 2015 at 7:21 AM - Bill Monroe:
    Sep 29, 2015 at 7:22 AM - jbigler1986: what are you printing

Sep 29, 2015 at 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: https://www.google.com/patents/US20140242208 this is crazy, valve sealing nozzles
    Sep 29, 2015 at 8:14 AM - jbigler1986: you are crazy
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:14 AM - Mattchu: madness, MK.
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:14 AM - Mike Glass: shutup and take my money
    Sep 29, 2015 at 8:15 AM - Mattchu: ditto...but still madness hahaha
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:15 AM - Mattchu: oh, MG...you said your laser has a rotary table on it?
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:15 AM - Mike Glass: yea
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:15 AM - Mattchu: or some way of rotating a bottle?
    Sep 29, 2015 at 8:15 AM - Mattchu: or a part?
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:16 AM - Mike Glass: it has 3 rollers on it
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:16 AM - Mattchu: so you place it on the rollers and it just spins it while the laser etches?
    Sep 29, 2015 at 8:17 AM - Mattchu: well, rotates/rolls it?
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:17 AM - Mike Glass: it has a stepper on it that talks to the computer
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:17 AM - Mike Kelly: mattchu what was the size of your waterjet again? 15x12?
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:18 AM - Mattchu: I believe the small one is about 20x30
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:20 AM - Mattchu: but the largest part I could do would be about the size of the robo print bed, for reasons unrelated to the roboprint bed :p
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:20 AM - JeffTheMess: did Bam ever install his 10x10 bed?
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:21 AM - Mike Kelly: curious about getting a bigbox frame cut from aluminum
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:22 AM - Mattchu: extruded aluminum?
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:22 AM - Mattchu: I think that was one of things I was looking at about the big box...it was literally stock size for all the parts.
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:23 AM - Mattchu: that one, or some other printer...we've had a few come across my desk lately.
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:25 AM - Mike Kelly: it would be flat plates
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: man i wanna go home and work on my cnc
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: stupid work
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:26 AM - Mike Glass: boo
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:27 AM - Mattchu: oooh got ya.
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:27 AM - Mattchu: yeah, I couldn't do very large panels. the Robo ones are about as big as I can get away with hahaha.
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:27 AM - Mike Glass: you cant cut larger then the robo bed?
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:28 AM - Mattchu: that's the max size I'm able to cut at this time.
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:28 AM - Mike Glass: its it a stand up model or what?
    Sep 29, 2015 at 8:28 AM - Mattchu: 11x15 approx.
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:29 AM - Mike Glass: MK with the right bit you should be able to do it on the cnc.
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:29 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah true
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:29 AM - Mattchu: it has less to do with the machine capabilities, and more my capabilities, not as a machinist, but as a normal average human being.
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:29 AM - Mike Kelly: those super human machinists
    Sep 29, 2015 at 8:29 AM - Mattchu: and my backpack >_>
    Sep 29, 2015 at 8:29 AM - Mattchu: <_<
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:30 AM - Mike Kelly: haha i guess they might give you funny looks walking in with a 2'x2' plate of aluminum
    Sep 29, 2015 at 8:30 AM - Mattchu: yes...yes they do. :p
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:30 AM - Mattchu: as for machin ecutting it...it'll totally do it on your cnc...2 flute endmill, HSS, take your time, hit it with oil regular like.
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:31 AM - Mattchu: the router literally spins your endmill too fast at the lowest setting
    Sep 29, 2015 at 8:31 AM - Mattchu: so lots of oil/coolant.
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: ah
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:31 AM - Mattchu: and don't bury the endmill.
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:32 AM - Mike Glass: they have speed adjustments though
    Sep 29, 2015 at 8:32 AM - Mattchu: yes...but it's more clearing a chip
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:32 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm considering buying a VFD for mine, see if i can't get it to run slower and with computer control
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:32 AM - Mike Kelly: which might be excessive for a router
    Sep 29, 2015 at 8:32 AM - Mattchu: VFD?
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:33 AM - Mike Kelly: variable frequency drive
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:33 AM - Mike Kelly: used for controlling motor speeds on AC
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:33 AM - Mattchu: got ya.
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:33 AM - Mattchu: try and slow it up a bit.
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:34 AM - Mattchu: but yeah, with wood...chip clearance isn't too huge a deal...wood doesn't gall, it turns to a fine powder, and for the most part clears nicely. aluminum will gall the cutter. two flutes helps clear a cheap easier. lube helps with controlling temp/making sure things don't gall/stick.
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:35 AM - Mike Glass: soap works also
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:35 AM - Mattchu: yes, but soap doesn't smell as awesome as tap magic
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd need to make an oil reservoir
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:36 AM - Mike Glass: no but when you have a wooden bed, you really dont want oil on it
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:36 AM - Mattchu: I would bath in that stuff, if only it wasn't, well, oily :p

Sep 29, 2015 at 8:36 AM - Mattchu: true, mike.
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:37 AM - Mattchu: no one offers a bed made of breadboard material yet?
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:37 AM - Mike Glass: I really need a better solution for my bed.
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:37 AM - Mike Glass: too much flex
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:38 AM - Mattchu: layer it on top of the bed?
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:39 AM - Mike Kelly: that's why i built the subframe
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:39 AM - Mattchu: hey MK, is there a zip for the .25" dwg files? and are there holes in the drawings?
    Sep 29, 2015 at 8:39 AM - Mike Kelly: there is a .25" drawing
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:39 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm not sure it has holes in it
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:39 AM - Mike Kelly: lemme check
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:40 AM - Mike Kelly: no holes, one sec
    Sep 29, 2015 at 8:40 AM - Mattchu: okay.
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:40 AM - Mattchu: thank you sir.
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:40 AM - Mike Kelly: all the .25 are on thingiverse
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:40 AM - Mike Kelly: just cut 2 rears
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:41 AM - Mattchu: looking through them now...
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:41 AM - Mike Glass: piggy is done fresh chops tonight.

Sep 29, 2015 at 8:42 AM - Mattchu: did I her beer and food at MG's place next week?
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:42 AM - Mattchu: hear even?
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:42 AM - Mike Glass: You bring the beer.
    Sep 29, 2015 at 8:43 AM - Mattchu: *looks at the carboys*...okay =-D
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:44 AM - Mike Kelly: what you got fermenting
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:44 AM - Mike Kelly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ql20sekps9xiyoz/Enclosure Side Rear.DXF?dl=0 here ya go matt
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:45 AM - Mattchu: a wine, some cider, and a cream ale.
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:45 AM - Mattchu: oooha DXF
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:45 AM - Mattchu: so use this for the sides on both parts, MK?
    Sep 29, 2015 at 8:46 AM - NFOsec: booyah
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:46 AM - Mattchu: on both sides of the machine?
Sep 29, 2015 at 8:48 AM - Mattchu: howdy NFO
    Sep 29, 2015 at 8:57 AM - jbigler1986: wtf Jerry
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:00 AM - NFOsec: gotta love hedgehogs.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:01 AM - Mike Glass: our daughter wants one.. so does the wife
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:02 AM - danzca6: the description says it all
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:03 AM - NFOsec: probably because you don't react that way when your tummy is rubbed.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:03 AM - NFOsec: debbie does sonic.
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:03 AM - NFOsec: yeah. :)
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:03 AM - Mike Glass: not sure why he is posting crap like that, must be hard up for content.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:03 AM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:04 AM - danzca6: I like the plastic over your keyboard
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:04 AM - Mattchu: okay, I have to ask Bill. Where did you get that indicator?
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:04 AM - NFOsec: nice.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:05 AM - NFOsec: I love the notepad paper.
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:05 AM - Mattchu: that's the second one ever I've seen that's a mitutoyo oddity
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:05 AM - Mike Glass: chinese one are so much better.
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:05 AM - Mattchu: it's not a bad thing
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Bill Monroe: gads, I cant recall.. I've got a bunch of them.. this one probably came from my grandfather's stuff
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Mattchu: REALLY? Now I'm definitely fascinated
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Mattchu: because either it's really really new
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Mattchu: or REALLY old
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Mike Kelly: hedgehogs can be really chill but you need to give them a ton of attention
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Mike Kelly: like around the clock attention until they like you
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Bill Monroe: I've got a couple of starrets on my lathe
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Mattchu: because Mitutoyo traditionally doesn't make their stuff in the USA
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:07 AM - Mattchu: it's either Japan or (for a while/still) Brazil.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:07 AM - Bill Monroe: i dunno.. I've got calipers and mics that are mits.. mcmaster carr sells them too
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:07 AM - Bill Monroe: but this guy is vintage
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:07 AM - Mike Glass: Have to look, think mine is made in Japan
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:08 AM - Mattchu: I'm just interested, because my most recent one I got at an auction said made in the USA
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:08 AM - Mattchu: we all did a a triple take a work.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:08 AM - Mike Kelly: just yeah matt, 4 of
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:08 AM - jbigler1986: mine is made in mexico
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:08 AM - Mike Kelly: those rear sides w/ holes, 2 tops, 2 bottoms, and 2 rears
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:08 AM - jbigler1986: not really. just figured I would throw in my 2 cents
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:08 AM - Mattchu: awesome, MK.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:08 AM - Mattchu: lol jbiggler
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:09 AM - Bill Monroe: this one says Made in USA on the dial
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:09 AM - Mike Kelly: the front is only necessary for beta R1's
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:09 AM - Mattchu: I saw bill. that's why I was commenting O_O don't part with that sucker. if it's anything like mine, it's an accurate beast.
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:09 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, it's nice
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:10 AM - Mattchu: mine does .0005" increments...but still...the dial is rock solid.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:10 AM - Mattchu: no jump, no stutter...smooth movements all the time.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:10 AM - Bill Monroe: i need to get another one of the sideways deflecting style
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:10 AM - Mattchu: finger indicator?
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:10 AM - Mattchu: /test indicator?
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:10 AM - Mike Glass: Hey NFO
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:11 AM - Mattchu: what do oyu mean MK? sorry wasn't ignoring you :)
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:11 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, I can never recall what their popular name is
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:11 AM - Mike Kelly: the beta printers had drawer slides and that tab for belt tensioning which stuck out past the glass
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:11 AM - Mike Kelly: so you needed some extra length on the front side
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Mattchu: like this, bill?
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Mattchu: http://www.mscdirect.com/product/de...gle-PLA+-+Test&CS_003=7867724&CS_010=76337849
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Mike Glass: drawer slides, that still kills me.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Mattchu: oh okay I got you MK, so on the front it moved out more.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Mattchu: I...owned one of those MG >_< lol
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Bill Monroe: yup, that's it
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Mike Kelly: yup MG, i was not happy about that, especially since their Kickstarter showed smooth rods
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Mattchu: I had one of the first shipments of Robos back in the day. lol
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Mike Glass:
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:13 AM - Mattchu: its rods wobbled, it had drawer slides
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:13 AM - Mattchu: and that bloody, horrible, j-head
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:13 AM - Mike Glass: that was kinda shitty of them
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:13 AM - Mike Kelly: that J-head was the shittiest thing
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:13 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah well at least they delivered something
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:13 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm pretty sure they ran out of money at some point
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:13 AM - Mattchu: hehehe true
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:14 AM - Mattchu: yep, test indicator is the "industry" term, Bill
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:14 AM - Mattchu: Finger indicator is what everyone else calls em :p
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:14 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't think they really anticipated how much it would cost to make the molds for the body

Sep 29, 2015 at 9:14 AM - Bill Monroe: well, that's descriptive and couldnt possibly mean anything else :)
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:15 AM - Bill Monroe: I'll have to call someone and ask them to give me the finger
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:15 AM - Mattchu: lol right, bill?
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:15 AM - Bill Monroe: :)
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:15 AM - Mike Glass: they ran out money, probably partying too much
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:15 AM - Mattchu: don't go fowler or SPI for that finger indicator.
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:16 AM - Mattchu: I love SPI calipers...but...those are calipers
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:16 AM - Mike Kelly: then i think they cut a deal with the people making their plastics that they'd own part of robo in exchange for making the parts
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:16 AM - Mike Kelly: but this is all rumor and speculation
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:17 AM - Bill Monroe: I have three sets of mit dig calipers, a starret dial, and two lufkin veniers..
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:17 AM - Bill Monroe: the Vs were grandpas again
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:17 AM - Mattchu: no dial calipers?
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:18 AM - Bill Monroe: just one, a starret
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:18 AM - Bill Monroe: starrett?
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:18 AM - Mattchu: usa made starrett?
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:18 AM - Bill Monroe: yup
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:19 AM - Mattchu: keep those, phase out the mits...the digis are nice...but I always worry about their movement...it niggles in the back of my brain...until I get the dials outta my box.
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:19 AM - Mattchu: lol
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:19 AM - Bill Monroe: grandpa had a foundry/patternshop/machineshop biz he started during WWII... adter he passed I got all his stuff
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:20 AM - Mattchu: this will sound awful, cause your grandpa died...but, you're a lucky man O_O
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:20 AM - Bill Monroe: aww he passed in '85. I grew up in the place, got his MIll, Lathe, Bandsaw, disk sander...
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:21 AM - Bill Monroe: built my own foundry
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:23 AM - Mattchu: dang! very nice
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:24 AM - Bill Monroe: to be honest, he was a royal SOB, but I didnt realize that when I was growing up
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:24 AM - Mattchu: so back to your travel indicator...that part you printed, mounting it on your lathe?
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:24 AM - Bill Monroe: naw.. gunn use it to calibrate the router
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:25 AM - Mattchu: oh lol. yeah most of them are...I know my gramps was an an unpleasant fellow.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:25 AM - Bill Monroe: he did leave me with a lot of old-school skills that are coming in REAL handy now
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:26 AM - Mattchu: you've no idea how in demand they are, Bill...Toyota stopped building factories for three years: all that money is now being invested on training.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:26 AM - Bill Monroe: I made a machine that simulates human breathing for a respirator company.. used some castings on it.. gives it a factory-made look
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:26 AM - Mattchu: oh whoa O_O
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:26 AM - Bill Monroe: well, they're toyotas so....
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:26 AM - Mattchu: lol yes
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:27 AM - Mattchu: but it's specifically because they have these wicked 7 axis machines
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:27 AM - Bill Monroe: yup
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:27 AM - Mattchu: ...and no one knows how to take a cut...they literally have no one to properly program them.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:27 AM - Bill Monroe: i used 3 of them for an operation that made steriziation indicators
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:27 AM - NFOsec: MG: how's cutting ans raster life?
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:27 AM - jbigler1986: well i made d-g.com so.....
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:29 AM - NFOsec: er and not are.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:30 AM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:30 AM - Mattchu: dude that's pretty
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:30 AM - Mattchu: no idea what it is
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:31 AM - Mattchu: but it's smexy looking
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:31 AM - Mattchu: I gotta roll to work now...I'll catch you all later! MK I'll let you know how the files work.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:32 AM - Mike Glass: NFO, Im ready for lesson 2
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:32 AM - Bill Monroe: the middle has a linear actuator.. the fingers are moving aircylinders up and down.. all programmed for the desired volume and frequecy to simulate the airflow the a human respiratory system in a variety of situations
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:33 AM - NFOsec: what have you done so far?
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:33 AM - NFOsec: pretty looking octopart.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:33 AM - Bill Monroe: heh octopart.. good one :)
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:34 AM - NFOsec: bill: does it simulate a pillow pressed upon a person's head while they attempt to breathe?
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:34 AM - Mike Glass: Set it up in my office thats about it
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:34 AM - Bill Monroe: somewhere I have pics of the pattern and raw casting...
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:34 AM - NFOsec: yeah, I refrained from the original thought. :)
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:34 AM - Mike Glass: Working on the vent tonight and then picking up dist water and buckets, should be ready to test.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:35 AM - Mike Glass: what did you do for the vent?
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:35 AM - Bill Monroe: if you can mathematically describe it, yes :)
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:35 AM - NFOsec: cool. when you get that hooked up, lemme know.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:35 AM - Mike Glass: did you do a reducer?
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:36 AM - NFOsec: Well, I actually used a reducer and went to 4" pvc because it was more durable. There were enough CPMs to support the reduction, but despite that I still put an inline in a few months later just in case. inline PVC fan was probably $50, but not necessarily needed unless you have a lot of negative flow problems.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:37 AM - Mike Glass: well im about 12" from the window so no biggie, not a real fan of that duct they give you.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:37 AM - NFOsec: but you can reduce to much less if the fan pulls it.
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:37 AM - NFOsec: yeah, I know.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:38 AM - NFOsec: mine is actually 12' out, so you get the idea.
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:38 AM - NFOsec: 12" isn't much to worry.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:38 AM - NFOsec: just don't angle down then up, standard CO thing.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:39 AM - Mike Glass: I dont have anyting to attach on the other side so I though 4" would work better
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:39 AM - Mike Glass: it will go straight out
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:40 AM - Mike Glass: or should I go out and up?
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:42 AM - NFOsec: well, out and down maybe? you don't want things dripping in it or bugs, etc.. straight out is good, but I always figured snake elbow just for good measure.
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:42 AM - NFOsec: print a bracket. :)
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:42 AM - NFOsec: route a bracket. :)
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:42 AM - NFOsec: then laser a bracket. :)
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:43 AM - NFOsec: if you can, mill a bracket. :)
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:43 AM - Bill Monroe: cast one!
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:43 AM - Mike Glass: lol print would be too big
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:43 AM - NFOsec: Amen, was waiting for that bill.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:44 AM - Bill Monroe: nice thing about casting.. it takes physical effort.. keeps one in shape
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:44 AM - NFOsec: if you are leaving a window open vs. going out an opening (like smashing a pane) then brace the top of the window with a ani-entry theft bar so it can't be lifted like they do with people who have window air conditioners.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:44 AM - NFOsec: casting, almost sounds like a Scottish sport.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:44 AM - Bill Monroe: and the wimmen love the sweat and strehgth display... like watching a blacksmith
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:45 AM - Mike Glass: yes I will have a board in the window that it will hook too. its a slider window, I wont be perm, just put in when cutting.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:47 AM - Mike Glass: going to have to find somebody with a band saw to cut the hex table I got though.
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:48 AM - NFOsec: fun.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:48 AM - NFOsec: Menards has a sale on bandsaws. lol, man, no space you'll have to move out!
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:48 AM - NFOsec: that's one thing I always wanted to purchase but didn't.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:50 AM - Mike Glass: I have one but its being refurbished
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:50 AM - Mike Glass: 1954 shopsmith system
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:50 AM - Bill Monroe: dont scrimp.. cheap bandsaws only bring frustration and heartache... but if you must, Harbor Freight makes a decent cheapo
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:51 AM - Mike Glass: I think I have my heart set on a jet 17"
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:51 AM - Bill Monroe: lemme see if I can find a pic of the antique I got from grandpa
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:52 AM - Mike Glass: I need to rip 16" stock from the mill.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:54 AM - Mike Glass: bbl, webinar bout to start.
    Sep 29, 2015 at 9:59 AM - NFOsec: I love my kreg rip-cut.
Sep 29, 2015 at 9:59 AM - NFOsec: but a table saw set at 16" is just as good if not better.
Sep 29, 2015 at 10:00 AM - Bill Monroe: i know have a pic of that beast somewhere...
Sep 29, 2015 at 10:00 AM - NFOsec: yeah, I got one too...
    Sep 29, 2015 at 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/coffee
    Sep 29, 2015 at 10:16 AM - Bill Monroe: I give up...
    Sep 29, 2015 at 10:17 AM - NFOsec: whew. MK. you're deranged.

Sep 29, 2015 at 10:22 AM - NFOsec: I can imagine, but what was that most recent debate going on about the carcinogens that roasters are being exposed to?
    Sep 29, 2015 at 10:23 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.jlhufford.com/Gourmet-Flavored-Coffee-s/1987.htm
Sep 29, 2015 at 10:25 AM - Mike Kelly: technically any carbonized plant matter is carcinogenic
Sep 29, 2015 at 10:25 AM - jbigler1986: i think i may need to go and buy some of that now. damnit
Sep 29, 2015 at 10:28 AM - jbigler1986: we had people buying $6k espresso machines as gifts for people all of the time

Sep 29, 2015 at 12:49 PM - danzca6: too soon to think about?
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:49 PM - Mike Kelly: well the first thing i'm going to cut is my vacuum table plate
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:49 PM - Mike Kelly: not sure after that
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:50 PM - danzca6: just like the Robo printing its own upgrades...lol
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:50 PM - Mike Kelly: precisely
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:50 PM - Mike Kelly: maybe a cool tap handle or somethign
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:52 PM - danzca6: will it be stout enough to handle aluminum?
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:52 PM - Mike Glass: Titanium
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:53 PM - Mike Kelly: i think it can handle aluminum
    Sep 29, 2015 at 12:53 PM - Mike Kelly: we'll see
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:53 PM - Mike Glass: if mine does, yours should.
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:54 PM - danzca6: I know you have put a lot of time into getting things printed and put together, but how much in materials do you think you have into the project?
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:54 PM - Mike Kelly: mine has a bit longer of a span on the x and y
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:54 PM - Mike Kelly: maybe 300 by this point, the router was 115
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:54 PM - Mike Glass: that will only mean it will droop more in the middle.
    Sep 29, 2015 at 12:54 PM - Mike Kelly: i already had stuff like a ramps/psu
    Sep 29, 2015 at 12:55 PM - danzca6: $300-$400 isn't too bad for a CNC
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:55 PM - Mike Glass: but when you tram your bed it should be perfect
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:55 PM - Mike Kelly: do you think i should surface my mdf table or just level it
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:56 PM - Mike Glass: I would at least check it
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:56 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:56 PM - Mike Glass: I have a little lump in my bed, I might just buy the 3/8 steel and mount it on that..lol
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:57 PM - Mike Kelly: i guess i should take my router clamp off and print your dial gauge holder
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:57 PM - Mike Glass: wont do you any good, its for the old mount
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:59 PM - Mike Kelly: old mount?
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:59 PM - Mike Glass: the original one
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:59 PM - Mike Kelly: what's the new one?
Sep 29, 2015 at 12:59 PM - Mike Kelly: i think i'm using the old one...
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:00 PM - Mike Glass: ? You have dewalt on yours

Sep 29, 2015 at 1:01 PM - jbigler1986: do you take all of your stuff to work or are you at home?
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:02 PM - Mike Glass: I dont think so

Sep 29, 2015 at 1:02 PM - Mike Kelly: i worked on it over lunch
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:02 PM - Mike Glass: neoprene is what you want
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:03 PM - Mike Kelly: though it doesn't say what the diameter is
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:03 PM - Mike Glass: yea, those are smaller for the tormach
    Sep 29, 2015 at 1:04 PM - Mike Kelly: 5.34 from grainger

Sep 29, 2015 at 1:08 PM - Mike Kelly: how long's that gonna take

Sep 29, 2015 at 1:10 PM - Mike Glass: dint touch the glass with your fingers, oils will make it fall off.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:11 PM - NFOsec: long enough... problem is, I was testing something without the PEI or zebra and the corners already warped up prior to. Oh, I touched because I knew it was a fail.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:11 PM - Mike Glass: lol
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:11 PM - Mike Glass: I would think neoprene was better, but maybe not.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:17 PM - NFOsec: So, I wonder, support must be clearly required for that, although in theory it could bridge over in time.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:23 PM - Mike Glass: if your temp is right it should not need support, and it would be ugly if you needed support
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:23 PM - NFOsec: no kidding.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:23 PM - NFOsec: going to print it after physical therapy because I want to watch this in faction.
    Sep 29, 2015 at 1:23 PM - NFOsec: action.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:24 PM - NFOsec: So, you have post-it pads I assume MG?
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:24 PM - Mike Glass: I did a tesseract cube without support, and its 2" of bridging
    Sep 29, 2015 at 1:24 PM - NFOsec: cool.
    Sep 29, 2015 at 1:25 PM - Mike Glass: I have post-its
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:26 PM - Mike Glass: my print of tesseract
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:26 PM - NFOsec: draw circles with a center point on them (using lines to cut in half then quarter). You'll need at least 2 or 3 of them. the circle would be the diameter of the laser mirror entry point.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:26 PM - NFOsec: that was good, wish my robo printed that fast. :)
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:26 PM - Mike Glass: lol

Sep 29, 2015 at 1:27 PM - NFOsec: what you can do at any time despite not having vent up (but must have water/cooling/air hooked up) is to test the alignment of the mirrors.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:27 PM - NFOsec: very unlikely you'll have to adjust, but I've heard people who have.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:28 PM - Mike Glass: Ok, yea power up is what I wanted to do tonight
    Sep 29, 2015 at 1:28 PM - NFOsec: but 1 out of 10k isn't bad.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:28 PM - Mike Glass: Hey I noticed the bed is kinda shakey, is that normal?
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:29 PM - NFOsec: you move the arrows to put the laser all the way to the top left (back left) corner, put a piece of the post-it on the mirror above the laser, then press pulse once. don't hold it. it will pulse a hole. should be close to if not dead center.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:29 PM - Mike Glass: like its missing smooth rods to hold it.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:30 PM - NFOsec: well, the bed is a little wonky, but remember, it's a twist-height adjusted bed, so whatever tolerences they have on those threads is the wonky.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:30 PM - NFOsec: a laser don't care because it's not moving the bed. I've never had a problem with it.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:31 PM - NFOsec: there are some minor things we all know could be adjusted. I'd really love to pull those threaded rods out and put in an auto-leveler.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:31 PM - Mike Glass: so it never adjusts during a session?
    Sep 29, 2015 at 1:31 PM - NFOsec: doesn't need to and doesn't.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:31 PM - NFOsec: you set your key height prior to the session and it does the job.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:31 PM - Mike Glass: just the power right
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:32 PM - NFOsec: the 4 switches, top one is power of all switches, second is the laser (I usually leave that off and use the top one to turn on water/air together).
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:32 PM - Mike Glass: is adjusted during a session
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:32 PM - NFOsec: then, when ready, flip on laser switch.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:32 PM - NFOsec: pulse is the button on the top.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:33 PM - NFOsec: the emergency button is different, once you push it, you have to twist it to unengage.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:33 PM - NFOsec: however, I had to tighten my button up as it was loose.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:33 PM - Mike Glass: yea I thought that was a wierd panic button
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:33 PM - NFOsec: it shuts off everything.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:34 PM - NFOsec: chinese are known to panic all the time, so they had to have a button in order to allow it to be even imported. :)
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:34 PM - NFOsec: I'll be on later tonight if you need anything.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:34 PM - Mike Glass: cool thanks, the circles I need the same size as the mirror?
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:35 PM - NFOsec: look at the check alignment videos for the post-its. the othert hing I talked about was putting a piece of wood and ramping it up on one side so you can pulse and check the focus.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:35 PM - NFOsec: at least because if it is out of alignment you'll be able to tell where.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:35 PM - NFOsec: so whatever size that hole is.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:35 PM - NFOsec: for God sake, don't give yourself pulse tattoos.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:35 PM - Mike Glass: ok makes sense
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:36 PM - NFOsec: you have a starter project in mind? did you look at the software?
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:36 PM - Mike Glass: I can do it with the door shut right? I dont have my glasses yet
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:39 PM - NFOsec: oh, sure, the pulse doesn't emit a laser light that would blind you.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:39 PM - NFOsec: it's just when you are pulsing to the bed onto an object, you could see the laser light which could be blinding.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:40 PM - NFOsec: proper settings usually keep that low enough where you can simply refer to the red laser LED that shows where the laser is going.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:40 PM - NFOsec: Open/close, it's fine. I always recommend doing all work with doors close so vacuum power works for fan.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:40 PM - NFOsec: but for pulsing, no problem.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:40 PM - NFOsec: if you run into any issues, let me know, I can snap up a quick video or two to explain visually.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:41 PM - Mike Glass: cool, I have to put all the sealing on staill
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:41 PM - Mike Glass: still
    Sep 29, 2015 at 1:41 PM - NFOsec: sealing?
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:41 PM - NFOsec: the extra tube of sealing?
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:41 PM - Mike Glass: White tape
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:41 PM - Mike Glass: assume its for sealing
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:41 PM - NFOsec: where are you putting that?
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:42 PM - Mike Glass: think it goes on all the doors
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:42 PM - NFOsec: mmm... lucky you, mine must have had that done already. I don't recall that.
    Sep 29, 2015 at 1:42 PM - NFOsec: is it a foam-type or just a teflon tape type or>?
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:43 PM - Mike Glass: seems to feel like a thick teflon.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:44 PM - Mike Glass: guess I should of done an unboxing video
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:44 PM - NFOsec: I'm wondering if that is for the air/water hoses.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:45 PM - NFOsec: I actually used those zip ties to pull a tight fit on the hoses to the water pump because I thought mine were a little lose, but it shouldn't be a problem.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:45 PM - Mike Glass: its pretty thick
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:46 PM - NFOsec: mmm.. anyway, it'll be exciting. what about software, did you see what you had.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:46 PM - NFOsec: also, did you decide if yo'ure going USB or ethernet?
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:48 PM - Mike Glass: Yea
    Sep 29, 2015 at 1:48 PM - Mike Glass: 12 was there
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:48 PM - Mike Glass: then some rd something software
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:48 PM - Mike Glass: I would like to use ethernet
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:52 PM - NFOsec: ok, the RDworks is the laser software, there are two things to install, one is the program and the other is the USB/driver/plugins to Corel/AutoCad.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:53 PM - Mike Glass: ok its the gcode generator
    Sep 29, 2015 at 1:53 PM - Mike Glass: ?
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:53 PM - NFOsec: ok, if you open the right side panel, you will see 2 wires coming down on the vertical board near the bottom right (above the switching power supply). there is USB and the power. There is one more slot there for Ethernet -- points up.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:54 PM - NFOsec: if you want to call it a gcode generator, feel free. the plug-ins are what communicate to the RDWorks program and the laser. but yeah.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:54 PM - Mike Glass: yep, I found that yesterday
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:54 PM - NFOsec: I had one opening near the console switch which I put the ethernet cable through and put a plate on it.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:54 PM - NFOsec: didn't need one, but you know, clean is sometimes better.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:55 PM - Mike Kelly: MG this is probably why they suggest EPDM: http://www.ehow.co.uk/about_6392117_difference-between-neoprene-epdm_.html
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:55 PM - Mike Glass: Think there is an actual hole in the bottom you can feed it through
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:55 PM - NFOsec: oh, yeah that too. I didn't do that, should have.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:55 PM - NFOsec: forgot about that "hole". :)
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:56 PM - Mike Glass: Samsung has launched the world’s largest hard drive, a staggering 2.5-inch 16 terabyte flash drive
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:56 PM - NFOsec: the one "consumable" that I really never checked into was that fuse that is in the lower corner where the ground wire goes. I don't think it's a very typical hardware store fuse, so to plan on spending $5 some time, order that one.
    Sep 29, 2015 at 1:56 PM - Mike Glass: I need
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:56 PM - NFOsec: how much?
    Sep 29, 2015 at 1:56 PM - Mike Kelly: 16 terrabytes in 2.5" that's insane
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:56 PM - NFOsec: is it solid state?
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:57 PM - Mike Kelly: hard drive
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:57 PM - NFOsec: well, I remember the sugar cube 1tb about 7 years ago by Japan.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:57 PM - Mike Glass: Flash yea
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:57 PM - NFOsec: hard drive/solid state/flash. cool. if it was hardware spinning platters I'd be skeptical.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:57 PM - NFOsec: THAT's going to change industry as we know it.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:58 PM - NFOsec: offload stocks in the old drives. :)
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:58 PM - Mike Kelly: all those people who just bought 8tb are kicking themselves
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:58 PM - Mike Glass: Samsung displayed a server containing 48 of the new drives, dubbed the PM1633a, at a California trade show
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:58 PM - Mike Glass: thats insane
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:59 PM - NFOsec: so, new san storage perhaps?
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:59 PM - NFOsec: I wonder if they have a SED version ready yet?
    Sep 29, 2015 at 1:59 PM - Mike Glass: I have 26 TB now
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:59 PM - NFOsec: nice for you, I'm only at 10.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:59 PM - Mike Kelly: do you have to be a company to use grainger?
    Sep 29, 2015 at 1:59 PM - NFOsec: nope.
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:59 PM - Mike Glass: plus another 20TB for our VDI
Sep 29, 2015 at 1:59 PM - NFOsec: but it helps.
Sep 29, 2015 at 2:00 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah we have a company account just wasn't sure
Sep 29, 2015 at 2:00 PM - NFOsec: they considered me once to run their security/compliance program, kind of didn't want the drive.
Sep 29, 2015 at 2:00 PM - NFOsec: terms of payment are probably the gist of it all. minimum orders, etc. sometimes apply to those company accounts.
Sep 29, 2015 at 2:01 PM - NFOsec: well, got to dash for a bit. ttyl.
Sep 29, 2015 at 2:02 PM - Mike Glass: ok sounds good.
Sep 29, 2015 at 2:02 PM - Mike Kelly: i really need to order a 1/8" endmill bit
