Sep 23, 2015 at 6:48 AM - WheresWaldo: It an effort to be a revisionist, Robo wants to control all the information about their product, especially the not so good info. A lot of companies try it, some successful. By the way, Morning everyone.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:49 AM - danzca6: morning
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:49 AM - daniel871: Not sure why the guy hasn't been fired, literally nobody in the company that has to deal with him likes him.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:49 AM - danzca6: The troubleshooting is HUGE to keep around...doesn't make sense they would remove it
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:49 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, how's it hanging?
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:49 AM - daniel871: A little to the left.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:50 AM - daniel871: Wait wrong Dan.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:50 AM - danzca6: same answer from me ;)
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:51 AM - danzca6: That manager is going to get the company sued some day and then the hammer will fall...
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:51 AM - danzca6: I had a prick boss once and we had an uprising here and he got fired pretty quick
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:51 AM - WheresWaldo: The troubleshooting section helped me out a lot in the beginning, prevented me from asking stupid questions (but I know how to search, don't need spoon feeding, usually).
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:51 AM - danzca6: once HR heard his tactics and attitudes, it was an open and closed case
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:52 AM - WheresWaldo: I should say, Stupid noob questions, I still ask stupid questions.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:53 AM - daniel871: Not going to happen. The dude is literally responsible for a former employee being horribly burned by a massive OSHA violating piece of machinery we have and the upper management of the company backed him up in covering up the harassment issues. We're stuck with him.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:54 AM - danzca6: holy crap...if possible...run from that place
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:54 AM - daniel871: Company is also being raked over the coals regarding that machine, so at least that is being fixed.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:10 AM - jbigler1986: yeah this forum and troubleshooting is what got me to buy a robo in the first place
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:14 AM - daniel871: Trap sprung.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:25 AM - danzca6: Having an open forum for folks with a specific product focus is key to any successful product. I am a member of serveral forums based on that. Even one for my wifes minivan so I can troubleshoot issues or get ideas for enhancements. Company has to take the good and bad comments. The bad are growth areas and oppertunities for bettering their product and internal support teams.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:26 AM - danzca6: I hope Robo continues to understand that
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:27 AM - jbigler1986: i hope so too. We will see. Hasn't been going in that direction lately though
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:30 AM - WheresWaldo: If you close off Troubleshooting, the forums will need more moderation to prevent stray questions from spilling over into other forums. But it is a way to show prospective buyers that their product is robust, "See no trouble" . They can mask all their issues under a Technical Support section that doesn't allow cross-posting. It has been done by others before.

Sep 23, 2015 at 7:34 AM - WheresWaldo: Bill how hard is it to set up streaming on YouTube?
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:34 AM - Bill Monroe: EZ
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:36 AM - jbigler1986: Robo won't put the time and money needed to keep troubleshooting off of the forum. This forum troubleshooting has actually saved them time and money
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:40 AM - WheresWaldo: I now have my YouTube Live Streaming Dashboard set up, but I currently have nothing to stream, :(
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:41 AM - Bill Monroe: got a cam?

Sep 23, 2015 at 8:06 AM - Mike Kelly: what would you even do
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:07 AM - daniel871: Probably what everyone else did. No audio here, but it looks like people just drive around the plane and carry on.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:08 AM - Mike Kelly: well yeah but i mean like what do you do with the plane
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:08 AM - Mike Kelly: i guess refuel it and take off?
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:08 AM - NFOsec: get up off that thing.

Sep 23, 2015 at 8:11 AM - Bill Monroe: typically they either tow it or put it on a roll-back tow truck and carefully drive to the airport

Sep 23, 2015 at 8:14 AM - daniel871: Neighbors heard loud screams for several hours and never called the cops. The guy himself called them.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:14 AM - Mike Kelly: i guess you'd just classify it as a wide load

Sep 23, 2015 at 8:17 AM - NFOsec: The sad but unfortunate truth is they'll probably get a ticket for lane deviation.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 8:17 AM - NFOsec: lol.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:17 AM - NFOsec: daniel: you probably were reading the comics. there is worse stuff, keep reading.

Sep 23, 2015 at 8:18 AM - Mike Kelly: uh
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:18 AM - NFOsec: how did that dust collector fare?
    Sep 23, 2015 at 8:18 AM - Bill Monroe:
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:18 AM - NFOsec: is it collecting dust as a pile of filament?

Sep 23, 2015 at 8:19 AM - Mike Kelly: magnets
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:19 AM - Bill Monroe: bound to happen

Sep 23, 2015 at 8:29 AM - Mike Kelly: yup well done, though the wing breakdown was awkward, wouldn't peel away like that at those speeds

    Sep 23, 2015 at 8:55 AM - jbigler1986: for $75 that's crazy. Only really need the 2 drive gears
    Sep 23, 2015 at 9:01 AM - NFOsec: I don't like that design MG.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:01 AM - NFOsec: I had a teflon/sintered build of that exact design, didn't do that well.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:03 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:03 AM - Mike Glass: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Repr...est=201526_5,201527_1_71_72_73_74_75,201409_3 this looks nice
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:05 AM - Mike Glass: need to find some lightweight vacuum hose.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 9:05 AM - daniel871: Yeah, that does.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:06 AM - NFOsec: MG: that format works really great.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:08 AM - Mike Glass: no include motor...lol love there engrish
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:09 AM - NFOsec: with that format you can put motor on left or right.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:09 AM - NFOsec: that is if you had one. :)
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:10 AM - jbigler1986: that one is setup for a geared extruder unless you only want to use 2 bolts on a non geared stepper
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:10 AM - NFOsec: jbig: doesn't this one include the option of a bent lead screw?
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:10 AM - NFOsec: or was that limited to Robo?
    Sep 23, 2015 at 9:10 AM - NFOsec: <snicker>
    Sep 23, 2015 at 9:11 AM - jbigler1986: that's robo only
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:11 AM - NFOsec: must be a feature and function vs. a defect.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:11 AM - NFOsec: the Microsoft way.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:11 AM - NFOsec: using a 7" or 10" tablet, that gcodeprintr android app is kind of nice.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:14 AM - Mike Glass: wonder if this would work for cnc dust collector. http://www.amazon.com/Flotec-FP0012...8&qid=1443024905&sr=8-53&keywords=vacuum+hose
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:20 AM - jbigler1986: does gcodeprintr lag or anything
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:21 AM - NFOsec: I haven't seen any lag at all. I think first time around I had a problem connecting but ruled it out to the connection itself.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 9:21 AM - Bill Monroe:
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:22 AM - NFOsec: MG: my rule of thumb is getting a properly rated hose and internally lined with less ridges as to reduce or avoid build-ups.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:22 AM - NFOsec: if you don't need expandable and can work from a relatively fixed size, put the expansion adaptor only on the coupling to the machine for flexible movement, the rest is a hung hose.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:23 AM - Mike Glass: well my jet will suck a golf ball through a pinhole.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:23 AM - Mike Kelly: can't see why not
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:23 AM - Mike Glass: although it probabaly doesnt have the grounding wire in it.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:24 AM - NFOsec: MK: lol.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:24 AM - NFOsec: er MG.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:24 AM - NFOsec: well, if it sucks, wouldn't it matter if it has teeth? LOL.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:26 AM - Mike Glass: I just want some thing super lightweight
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:26 AM - Mike Glass: but fairly rigid
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:27 AM - NFOsec: mm... that reminds me. have aluminum PLA coming in today.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:27 AM - Mike Glass: 1 1/4 is what im looking for
    Sep 23, 2015 at 9:27 AM - NFOsec: rigid.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 9:28 AM - NFOsec: ever look at hosecraftusa.com?
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:32 AM - Mike Glass: looking for cheap not outrageous..lol
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:33 AM - Mike Glass: I ordered some more endmill bits Mike.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:33 AM - NFOsec: never looked at prices, just knew it was a source.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:34 AM - NFOsec: but you could do custom sizes, adapters, etc..
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:34 AM - Mike Kelly: sweet MG, i really need to order some
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:35 AM - Mike Glass: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HCZPUV0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00 going to see how these fare.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:35 AM - Mike Glass: didnt really need 10 but..
    Sep 23, 2015 at 9:36 AM - Mike Kelly: i need an 1/8" bit with a 1/4" shank
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:36 AM - Mike Kelly: or an adapter to convert my collet to 1/8"
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:36 AM - NFOsec: those don't look too bad, but for these things I've almost always bought from precisebits.com
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:37 AM - Mike Glass: didnt it come with 1/8 collet?
    Sep 23, 2015 at 9:37 AM - Mike Kelly: 1/4"
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:37 AM - Mike Glass: yea but should be a 1/8 with it as well
    Sep 23, 2015 at 9:37 AM - jbigler1986: can't change it?
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:37 AM - NFOsec: they're not outrageous in price. why not?
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:37 AM - Mike Kelly: i can just don't have one
    Sep 23, 2015 at 9:38 AM - jbigler1986: new or used?
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:38 AM - Mike Glass: My dewalt 660 came with both
    Sep 23, 2015 at 9:38 AM - NFOsec: http://precisebits.com/gateways/ColletsNutsHome.htm
    Sep 23, 2015 at 9:38 AM - Mike Glass: err 550
    Sep 23, 2015 at 9:39 AM - NFOsec: not familiar with 550.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 9:40 AM - Mike Kelly: that's a fancy collet
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:41 AM - NFOsec: what is?
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:41 AM - NFOsec: the stuff from Precisebits?
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:41 AM - daniel871: Bailed out of that lunch as soon as I fn could.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:41 AM - Mike Glass: 550 is a cordless model cutout tool
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:42 AM - NFOsec: Oh, they're awesome. extremely well balanced and I don't think I'd recommend much anything else less an expensive auto-tool changing collete system.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 9:42 AM - NFOsec: ah.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:42 AM - NFOsec: fancy number of a cordless dremel eh?
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:43 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah the precisebits
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:43 AM - Mike Kelly: don't think i want to spend that much though
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:43 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm hoping for something around 20-40
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:45 AM - Mike Glass: I paid $28 for my 1/8 collet specially made from a company
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:45 AM - NFOsec: undestood, but these would be life-time ones, so of course you get what you pay for.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:46 AM - Mike Glass: check here MK, they are really nice to deal with. http://www.elairecorp.com/routercollets.html
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:47 AM - NFOsec: gimme a second, I have another place I bought my first set from along with some engraving bits that wasn't bad either.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:50 AM - NFOsec: bah, not there anymore, but bits I get also from https://www.centuriontools.com
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:52 AM - Mike Glass: I buy most of mine from drillman1 on ebay.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:52 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah NFO I think that collet would outlive that dremel
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:52 AM - Mike Kelly: thanks mg
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:54 AM - Mike Kelly: gotta wait another week, trying to save as much money as i can this month
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:55 AM - NFOsec: MK: definitely would.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:56 AM - NFOsec: I've been using the same collet for about 7 years, but have replaced at least 5x the bits.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:56 AM - NFOsec: any high-speed spinning thingy needs to be balanced and precise in my book, otherwise I'd be better off using a hand-cranking mixer blade to do cnc stuff.
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:59 AM - daniel871: This was the lunch they served by the way http://i.imgur.com/RrUhsd1.jpg?1
    Sep 23, 2015 at 10:01 AM - jbigler1986: bbq in a cup
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:01 AM - Mike Kelly: classy
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:01 AM - daniel871: Didn't even spring for the red solo cup, went with the cheap clear plastic ones.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:02 AM - daniel871: BBQ in a cup with fritos. Water from the water cooler. Happy 20 years employment to the VP, lofnl
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:02 AM - jbigler1986: your company sounds horrible to work for. sorry man
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah you make me feel better about my crappy company
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:03 AM - NFOsec: OMG, soggy walking tacos?
    Sep 23, 2015 at 10:03 AM - daniel871: You're welcome. :p
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:03 AM - daniel871: Is that what they call them?

Sep 23, 2015 at 10:04 AM - NFOsec: daniel: yeah. to a degree. some use taco-flavored meat, others use BBQ and fritos.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 10:05 AM - NFOsec: it's a southern-midwestern thing.

    Sep 23, 2015 at 10:05 AM - daniel871: This was BBQ I think. Definitely not taco-flavored anyway.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:05 AM - NFOsec: so, alum PLA came in.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:05 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah let's not talk about any more homemade (taking apart a clock and putting it in a briefcase) clocks
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:05 AM - NFOsec: you're right, a failed dust collector is far better.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:06 AM - daniel871: We're talking about the actual Robo again?
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:06 AM - NFOsec: daniel: LOL. OMG.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:07 AM - Mike Kelly: hey the dust boot totally worked :)
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:07 AM - NFOsec: however, to your defense, I haven't designed one, attempted to print one, etc. so I should just shut up.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:07 AM - NFOsec: but it makes me want to do one.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:07 AM - NFOsec: Zortrax M200 and Polymaker. mm... advertising for printers in a PLA order.

Sep 23, 2015 at 10:08 AM - daniel871: I like how the ads I see are usually for things I just looked at that were linked here.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:08 AM - daniel871: "Buy these limit switches you just bought from Amazon!"
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:09 AM - NFOsec: MK: nice. looks like Semi-flex paid off.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:09 AM - NFOsec: my favorite is buy 2-1.1lb (yes pounds) spools and the shipping box notes it is 4 pounds.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:10 AM - NFOsec: invoice and spools, where did the mysterious extra nearly 2 pounds go?
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:10 AM - Mike Kelly: yes it did, 10mm/s was the ticket
    Sep 23, 2015 at 10:10 AM - daniel871: Box and packaging weight.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:10 AM - Mike Glass: that was the drugs the took out earlier
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:10 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah the spool usually weighs 3 lbs, and then the box/packaging adds a bit
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:11 AM - NFOsec: ah, didn't account for the spool itself.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:12 AM - Mike Glass: there is a chart somewhere that has all the weights of the spools for different companies.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:12 AM - Mike Kelly: walters blog
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:12 AM - NFOsec: yeah, just grabbed,
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:13 AM - NFOsec: so, I wonder what I should print with this aluminum PLA.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:13 AM - Mike Glass: Mike you really need to change your kindergarten picture on G+..lol
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:14 AM - Mike Kelly: haha ok
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:15 AM - daniel871: NFO, have you printed the Tower of Pi yet?
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:15 AM - NFOsec: no, I haven't. let me look at taht.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:15 AM - Mike Kelly: but i have hair in that picture!
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:15 AM - Mike Glass: lol
    Sep 23, 2015 at 10:15 AM - NFOsec: that's cool.

Sep 23, 2015 at 10:16 AM - Mike Glass: NFO how far did you get on the plexi clock?
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:16 AM - daniel871: See also the Towers of Tau, Euhler and Phi
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:17 AM - Mike Kelly: and changed
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:17 AM - jbigler1986: tower of pi is not easy
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:17 AM - Mike Glass: lol gangsta
    Sep 23, 2015 at 10:19 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG] wow
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:19 AM - daniel871: I think the thingiverse model cuts off before that one.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: holy jebus
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: someone with a huge delta should make that
    Sep 23, 2015 at 10:22 AM - NFOsec: nice.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:23 AM - NFOsec: MG: I cut out 3 sets of 0-9, and was devising a rudimentary base.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:23 AM - NFOsec: didn't take long, just realized I didn't have a lot of leftover material.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:23 AM - NFOsec: I could use a thinner version of plexi, but for the time, once the brains are devised, this whole thing from start to finish could be < 30-40 minutes.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:25 AM - NFOsec: starting pi.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:26 AM - NFOsec: MG: I think the LEDs are standing up boards on their sides vs. upright facing.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:26 AM - NFOsec: need to disect that a little.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 10:28 AM - Mike Glass: I want a laser cutter:(
    Sep 23, 2015 at 10:29 AM - Mike Glass: would a 40w cut 1/4 plexi?
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:32 AM - Mike Glass: do you have a rotary for your laser?
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:38 AM - NFOsec: 40w could but you might need 2 passes.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:38 AM - NFOsec: which is still ok.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 10:38 AM - NFOsec: 1/8th inch wouldn't be a problem.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:39 AM - Mike Glass: would your 50 do it in one pass?
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:39 AM - NFOsec: pi base looks good.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:39 AM - NFOsec: yeah, my 50 does it in 1 pass, at a slower speed with 80-100% power.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:40 AM - Mike Glass: what machine do you have?
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:40 AM - NFOsec: so, say a 4"x4" square would take approximatey 30sec-1 minute for 1/4"
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:40 AM - NFOsec: I had mentioned before, I have that Shenhui G350 "chinese" laser.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 10:40 AM - NFOsec: my buddy has a 40w epilog.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:41 AM - NFOsec: there's nothing really wrong with the system aside from not having automatic table leveling and power-lift table, everything else is great.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:42 AM - NFOsec: i don't use their stock hose (which is a joke), so I used 6" to 4" PVC fitting, and used a 4" PVC pipe exhaust
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:43 AM - Mike Glass: exhaust is probably a must eh?
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:44 AM - Mike Glass: do you have the Cylinder Rotary Attachment
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:45 AM - krouton3: well all parts printed off
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:45 AM - krouton3: so im done printing till after the con now haha
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:46 AM - Mike Glass: lets see a pic
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:49 AM - NFOsec: cylinder rotary attachment? yes.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:49 AM - NFOsec: oh yeah, exhaust is an absolute. some people have stationary internal filters they create with a HEPA and others. that works ok.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:50 AM - NFOsec: smoke, fumes, etc, need to be drawn out.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 10:50 AM - krouton3: http://i.imgur.com/WDZ6Xu2.jpg
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:50 AM - krouton3: havent put parts together yet haha
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:50 AM - Mike Glass: so you could engraving on glasses correct?
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:50 AM - Mike Kelly: link cosplay i see
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:50 AM - krouton3: might try and sand down the keys today to get the parts to fit before i gotta go to work
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:50 AM - Mike Glass: nice krouton
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:51 AM - NFOsec: oh yeah, engraving glass is nothing. can "engrave" on metal, anodized alum no problem, others would use Cermark or Thermark metal marking spray.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:52 AM - Bill Monroe: how much do those cost NFO?
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:53 AM - NFOsec: This the system I had bought.[IMG] At the time, I think I paid about $1300+ some shipping.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:53 AM - Bill Monroe: ah.. i thought it was just the laser portion
    Sep 23, 2015 at 10:53 AM - NFOsec: the 50w runs usually between 1250-1900 in the market./
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:53 AM - Mike Glass: lol thats the one Im looking at now
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:53 AM - NFOsec: on the CNC router, the laser is about $140 fitted.
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:53 AM - jbigler1986: "We now feel like we have a backup who can come in and move the team and win games for us," added Pettine, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. haha. bc the starting qb cant win games for them
    Sep 23, 2015 at 10:54 AM - jbigler1986: cleveland browns
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:54 AM - Bill Monroe: really.. the power?
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:54 AM - Mike Kelly: because manzell sucks
    Sep 23, 2015 at 10:54 AM - jbigler1986: mccown is better?
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:54 AM - Mike Kelly: no
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:54 AM - Mike Glass: How do you fit it on your cnc?
    Sep 23, 2015 at 10:55 AM - jbigler1986: i'm not a manzell fan either
    Sep 23, 2015 at 10:55 AM - jbigler1986: he threw 11 td's and 14 int's last year
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:56 AM - Mike Kelly: should have spent another year in school
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:56 AM - Mike Kelly: maybe he'd have sucked less
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:56 AM - NFOsec: This was what did. I had a blank mounting plate that I could retrofit for sliding off the other.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 10:56 AM - NFOsec:
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:57 AM - jbigler1986: at least he got them a win. something that the browns don't get often
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:57 AM - Ravindu: can anyone let me know the setting for preventing stitching in prints

Sep 23, 2015 at 10:58 AM - Mike Glass: haha
Sep 23, 2015 at 10:59 AM - Mike Glass: biggest one I found is like a kit for a 3 watt

Sep 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM - Mike Kelly: it's almost like it was priced to be cheap or something
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM - Bill Monroe: i wonder where that Shenhui G350 company is getting theirs's
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM - Mike Glass: its a tube style bill
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM - NFOsec: well, shenhui is the manufacturer.
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:01 AM - Mike Glass: vs a diode type
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:01 AM - NFOsec: wasn't using it for heavy cutting, was mostly engraving and small cuts.
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:01 AM - NFOsec: thus the reason I got a dedicated system.
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:01 AM - bamhm182: Got my R1 refurb in today. Have to go to work in a few minutes, so I don't really have a lot of time to mess around with it. Not sure I'll have time right after work either, but soon

Sep 23, 2015 at 11:01 AM - bamhm182: Something I thought was interesting is that it didn't have a bottom or a fan over the RAMPS
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:01 AM - Mike Kelly: whoa that must be a really old one then
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:02 AM - NFOsec: it should be on the bottom plate.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 11:02 AM - NFOsec: scary.
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:02 AM - bamhm182: Also, they finally did away with that crappy 25mm fan in favor of a quieter 30mm fan that mimics the v6
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:02 AM - Mike Glass: no fan?
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:02 AM - bamhm182: What's weird is that it has the newer bed with the "R1" written on it
    Sep 23, 2015 at 11:02 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it's a hobbled arrangement i'm sure
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:02 AM - bamhm182: Mine had a bottom cover with a fan and had the old style bed
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:02 AM - krouton3: and i just snapped the key lol
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:03 AM - Mike Glass: thats just waiting to fail
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:03 AM - NFOsec: good grief
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:03 AM - Mike Glass: I will sell you a bottom cover if you want :)
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:03 AM - bamhm182: It's also got the X limit switch on the x carriage, although that sounds like it's just random where it's placed to me
    Sep 23, 2015 at 11:03 AM - bamhm182: It's being sent in for a new R1+plus
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:04 AM - NFOsec: at ensd
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:04 AM - NFOsec: of smooth rod on left?
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:04 AM - Mike Kelly: did it have mount points for a bottom cover?
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:04 AM - bamhm182: Of course, I'm planning on doing a few test prints first
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:04 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, it had the mount points
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:04 AM - Mike Kelly: you should tell them that, you really need that fan
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:04 AM - bamhm182: I'm wondering if I should just go "100% out of the box" with the test print, or if I should let it use my printer's bottom cover
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:04 AM - Mike Glass: you bought a refurb to get $50 worth of parts..lol
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:04 AM - krouton3: well looks like ill just be sticking with the soldering gun lol was wanting the keys to snap in for extra support lol
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:05 AM - bamhm182: You hear what happened, MG?
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:05 AM - Mike Glass: yea your roommate
    Sep 23, 2015 at 11:05 AM - bamhm182: Yeah
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:05 AM - Mike Glass: still funny
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:06 AM - bamhm182: I also forgot that the Robo came with blue lights as I swapped that out like day ONE
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:06 AM - Mike Glass: Those lights will be collectors items one day.
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:06 AM - daniel871: I've ditched the lights altogether on my Robo.
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:07 AM - Mike Kelly: i need to get some bright white led's
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:07 AM - Mike Kelly: the ones i put in from ikea are soft white
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:07 AM - bamhm182: I like to have lights so I can see what I'm doing, and while the blue lights do look cool, they're not very good at showing you what you're doing
    Sep 23, 2015 at 11:07 AM - jbigler1986: ikea? you know better

Sep 23, 2015 at 11:08 AM - Mike Kelly: i had bought them forever ago
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:08 AM - bamhm182: I got that while it was still being offered by Prime. Works pretty well
    Sep 23, 2015 at 11:08 AM - Mike Kelly: that's a lot of led
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:08 AM - daniel871: The shop my Robo is in now has super bright fluorescent lights hanging from the ceiling anyway so internal lights aren't really needed on the Robo.
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:08 AM - danzca6: bahm, call them if you are missing anything on the refurb
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:08 AM - Mike Glass: the ones I got are nice and CHEAP
    Sep 23, 2015 at 11:08 AM - jbigler1986: yeah 2ft is enough
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:09 AM - danzca6: I didn't have the cork cover for the heating element and they sent me one right out
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:09 AM - danzca6: they should send you the cover and fan
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:09 AM - daniel871: Yeah. "Hey, Robo? The refurb you sold me is missing these parts" "Those are sold as-is, sorry"
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:09 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i'm gonna buy the one mike linked before
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:09 AM - Mike Glass: you have cork?
    Sep 23, 2015 at 11:09 AM - danzca6: I do now

Sep 23, 2015 at 11:10 AM - bamhm182: I was planning on sending them an email. The only thing I noticed while quickly going over it was the missing bottom cover, but I'll keep an eye out for anything else
    Sep 23, 2015 at 11:10 AM - jbigler1986: i like ghetto. i love my gold teeth
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:10 AM - daniel871: Where are you guys even seeing these refurbs anyway?

Sep 23, 2015 at 11:13 AM - krouton3: yea i dont like using ebay.... last time i tried to use ebay through paypall it ended up putting like 3 transactions on my bank account 2 of which were ghost transactions and went away but it still made my bank think i went overboard with spending and did overdraft protection fees >.>
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:14 AM - Mike Glass: ebay is a good money maker
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:14 AM - jbigler1986: yeah plus sellers get screwed a lot
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:15 AM - Mike Kelly: ebays good for hard to find stuff
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:15 AM - Mike Glass: I made alot of money on ebay one year, its great to sell stuff that is limited.
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:16 AM - jbigler1986: my boss wanted me to setup a ebay account to sell $600k worth of excess inventory and get 5% commission. I declined because I hate ebay

    Sep 23, 2015 at 11:16 AM - krouton3: lol

Sep 23, 2015 at 11:17 AM - daniel871: I was going to suggest multiple Goodwill trips for the tax write-off.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 11:18 AM - daniel871: But, well...
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:18 AM - daniel871: Probably trigger a massive IRS audit for that much in inventory. :p
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:19 AM - daniel871: Also, yay, that cheap lunch is making me sick to my stomach.'

Sep 23, 2015 at 11:49 AM - Mike Glass: My question?
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:50 AM - NFOsec: H is huge thumbnail, M is medium thumbnail.
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:51 AM - NFOsec: if that helps.
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:51 AM - Mike Glass: oh, appearently you not getting it
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:51 AM - NFOsec: the other is the actual image full size.
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:51 AM - NFOsec: the shoutbox attempts to thumbnail them.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 11:51 AM - Mike Glass: I asked you a question
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:52 AM - NFOsec: no idea? on what? let me scroll up.
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:53 AM - NFOsec: OH consumable costs for which machine, the laser?
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:53 AM - Mike Glass: yea the laser
    Sep 23, 2015 at 11:55 AM - daniel871: "laser"
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:55 AM - NFOsec: Ok Dr. Evil.

Sep 23, 2015 at 11:57 AM - NFOsec: so, top possible consumables: could include kaser tube (50w is ~150), focal lens (~30-75 depending on size), reflection lens (just cleaning).
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:57 AM - NFOsec: lens cleaning supplies $20 for the year.
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:58 AM - Mike Glass: laser is around $250 not sure on the lens though
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:58 AM - NFOsec: but the laser tube is rated for about 8-10k hours. if you use a water-based cooling system, distilled water is about $1-1.50 a gallon with maybe 3 gallons at a time.
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:59 AM - NFOsec: oh the topics yeah but $125-250 I meant.
Sep 23, 2015 at 11:59 AM - NFOsec: for the shenhui you can get the tube as low as $100, but usually around $150-250 on the market.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:00 PM - NFOsec: good maintenance is everything, so...
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:00 PM - Mike Glass: I thought they were good for 1000 hours
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:00 PM - Bill Monroe: like what for maintenance?

Sep 23, 2015 at 12:03 PM - daniel871: Is that the record print generator?
    Sep 23, 2015 at 12:03 PM - daniel871: No.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 12:03 PM - daniel871: Missing an e
    Sep 23, 2015 at 12:04 PM - danzca6: sorry about that...fixed
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:04 PM - NFOsec: I know my wife has told me that in the early days when I had my ZenbotCNC set up that it sounded like a music generator.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:04 PM - NFOsec: stepper motors can create cool music.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 12:04 PM - jbigler1986: it's soothing
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:04 PM - danzca6: I think the fans on the robo are too loud to hear it very well
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:05 PM - daniel871: How does that Tower of Pi sound?
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:05 PM - jbigler1986: change the psu fan and hotend fan. no more loud noise
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:05 PM - jbigler1986: well depends on how loud your extruder is. gregs wade it's pretty damn loud
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:08 PM - Mike Glass: I cant wait to get rid of mine
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:09 PM - Mike Glass: NFO can you do pictures with your laser?
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:09 PM - NFOsec: PSU fan I can tell is loud.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:09 PM - jbigler1986: MG, get rid of gregs wade?
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:10 PM - Mike Glass: Its in the works just waiting to finish the extruder.

Sep 23, 2015 at 12:13 PM - Mike Glass: cool, any special software?
    Sep 23, 2015 at 12:13 PM - jbigler1986: pretty amazing
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:13 PM - NFOsec: my favorite is to take champagne bottles and engrave their photos on them with wedding date.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:13 PM - NFOsec: it gets even better using candlestone, a corian type format material because you can back-light it and it shows a cool 3D effect.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:13 PM - Mike Kelly: whoa
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:14 PM - NFOsec: MK: slip on a peel?
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:14 PM - Mike Kelly: no just that you can engrave a champagne bottle is neat
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:15 PM - NFOsec: oh, yeah, glass just needs to be decent. cheap glass cracks under high temps, so sometimes masking it with tape before engraving works.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:15 PM - NFOsec: I love cutting out custom finger boxes for arduino/PI B+ boards.

Sep 23, 2015 at 12:16 PM - NFOsec: but you don't have to use the attachment if the spread is < 4".

    Sep 23, 2015 at 12:17 PM - danzca6: I gal I work with did that like 3 times
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:17 PM - NFOsec: I seat the glass on a bed of rice to prevent movement and laser-away.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:17 PM - Mike Glass: NFO any special software?
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:18 PM - NFOsec: the shenhui 350 shipped with a legacy version of Corel Draw 12, but I bought X7 for $300 because it had better tools, but in reality if you can import, draw, etc. you can use their included "RDWorks v8.x". from Corel Draw or Autocad you can simply print to the laser.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:19 PM - NFOsec: I have mine on the network via ethernet, but can use WIFI (but not wanting to irradiate myself anymore, I chose not to).
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:19 PM - Mike Glass: it has a network jack or just the computer that is plugged into it?

Sep 23, 2015 at 12:20 PM - Mike Kelly: don't go to that url...
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:20 PM - daniel871: Cracked up seeing that as an actual poster last election cycle though.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:21 PM - NFOsec: MG: Chad Schimmel on Youtube kind of gave a walk-through of it.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:22 PM - NFOsec: oh, sorry, I deleted the domain just in case there are unsuspecting and underaged folks here.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:22 PM - Mike Glass: Solidworks should work also looks like
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:23 PM - Mike Glass: I use inkscape for my cnc that should also work
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:23 PM - NFOsec: I picked up a nice USB to VGA/DVI adapter yesteerday so I can have a swing-arm mounted monitor be dedicated to the S3D screen.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:23 PM - NFOsec: yeah, it does.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:24 PM - NFOsec: in fact they have a plugin for that.

    Sep 23, 2015 at 12:31 PM - jbigler1986: printed 3d printer? nah. I will just use legos

Sep 23, 2015 at 12:45 PM - daniel871: Yay, just got a notification that my limit switches were delivered.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:45 PM - daniel871: Will swap those out tonight and hopefully be printing again soon. I'll sort out the LCD vs. tablet vs OctoPi stuff later.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:49 PM - NFOsec: daniel: so they're testing your limits?
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:50 PM - daniel871: It will be the last stock part that I'll be replacing, one way or the other.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:50 PM - NFOsec: daniel: I used a powered-hub for the tablet, and then USB'd thep rinter to the hub.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 12:50 PM - NFOsec: conneted like a charm.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 12:50 PM - daniel871: That's definitely good to know.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:51 PM - jbigler1986: so no need for a OTG cable?
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:52 PM - NFOsec: well, the square USB to the hub (I thought the square was called OTG), then the tablet to the hub.,
    Sep 23, 2015 at 12:52 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:52 PM - daniel871: Just the hub plugged to external power, then the printer to the hub and the tablet to the hub.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 12:52 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:53 PM - daniel871: With the cable that comes with the tablet.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:53 PM - NFOsec: yeah just those two
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:54 PM - NFOsec: could possibly bluetooth but I didn't look at how I would but a bluetooth shield on the Arduino.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:54 PM - NFOsec: or if there is even space for such.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:54 PM - Mike Glass: NFO If I order the laser just like your is there anything else I need?
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:55 PM - jbigler1986: you still need a female to female usb adapter though right?
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:55 PM - daniel871: No, the male ends go into the hub.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:55 PM - jbigler1986: i guess it depends on the hub
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:55 PM - daniel871: Needs to be a hub capable of charging a tablet.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 12:56 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Sep 23, 2015 at 12:56 PM - daniel871: Right NFO?
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:56 PM - NFOsec: any 3.0 or 2.0 USB hub with power works.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 12:56 PM - NFOsec: yeah.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 12:56 PM - jbigler1986: see i would need an adapter
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:56 PM - NFOsec: MUST be powered that way you can charge the phone/tablet all the time.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:56 PM - daniel871: Why? I thought the regular USB end coming off the Robo cable would go in the hub just fine.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:57 PM - daniel871: Then you have your tablet cable with the plug for the tablet end and regular USB on the other.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:57 PM - jbigler1986: pretty sure they are all input except for the usb b connector. That is the output port
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:58 PM - NFOsec: well, as far as laser goes, there are 2 things I can think of. Typically, most people go with a water-container environment (like those 5 gallon plastic pails from your local hardware place), put water pump in there, cover pump with distilled water and that woudl work fine.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 12:58 PM - jbigler1986: wait
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:58 PM - daniel871: What hub were you using, NFO?
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:58 PM - NFOsec: if you do a lot of heavy lasering, you'll be better off to eventually invest in some type of cooling system as the water is what keeps the tube cool.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:59 PM - jbigler1986: yeah what hub are you using
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:59 PM - NFOsec: I have the USB 3.0 SuperSpeed from Insignia.
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:59 PM - Mike Glass: Do you have yours in a shop in an office space?
Sep 23, 2015 at 12:59 PM - NFOsec: has USB 3.0 on one side, 4 ports on the other. compact and mountable (now now, keep the minds clear)
    Sep 23, 2015 at 12:59 PM - jbigler1986: do you have a picture
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:00 PM - jbigler1986: or link
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:00 PM - daniel871: This one? http://www.amazon.com/Insignia-4-Port-USB-3-0-NS-PCH5431-C/dp/B00YB9YTWG
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:00 PM - NFOsec: I have it in my basement "shop area", basically I created a 22" high 2x4 work bench and put it on that.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:00 PM - NFOsec: you know, with the particle-board type plywood -- 1/2" was it?
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:00 PM - Mike Glass: its like 130lbs right
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:01 PM - Mike Glass: Melamine maybe?
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:01 PM - NFOsec: well, funny thing is, it ships 245lbs, uncrated, etc. yeah, probably 130-150, but 2 people to move.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:01 PM - jbigler1986: what do you have the 3.0 cable plugged into?
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:02 PM - jbigler1986: or are you not using the 3.0 cable at all?
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:02 PM - NFOsec: no, sort of like that composite stuff [IMG]
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:02 PM - NFOsec: damn it.

Sep 23, 2015 at 1:02 PM - NFOsec: I am, tablet hooked to it.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:02 PM - NFOsec: [IMG]
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:03 PM - NFOsec: that's the shelving/top layer wood for the 2x4 workbench.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:03 PM - jbigler1986: so your table has a usb port?
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:03 PM - jbigler1986: tablet
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:04 PM - NFOsec: no, the power connection to the tablet IS a USB port.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:04 PM - NFOsec: I didn't have a separate one, similar to how MatterCrapper's controller which used a separate power cord.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:04 PM - NFOsec: that make sense?
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:05 PM - NFOsec: so the plug is USB 3.0 to a USB outlet plug, instead of using that, it gets the same charge feeds to support 24x7 operation of the tablet without loss of power.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:05 PM - Mike Glass: chip board
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:05 PM - Mike Glass: or osb
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:05 PM - jbigler1986: no. so you have the printer cable plugged into a usb port on the hub?
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:05 PM - Mike Glass: 3/8 probably
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:06 PM - daniel871: Printer > Printer cable > Hub > Tablet Cable > Tablet.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:06 PM - NFOsec: the other thing MG is the exhaust piping. Since I have this in my "basement", I ran it out a window that isnt' used, using 6" to 4" PVC, down to 3" outside with a bug/animal filter trap on it. the CPM of the fan in the system is o.k., but if you wanted more pull, I put a $50 in-line PVC exhaust fan in that was wired up to a plugged outlet.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:07 PM - NFOsec: printer > printer cable > hub < tablet cable > tablet
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:07 PM - jbigler1986: so the output plug isn't needed?
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:07 PM - NFOsec: the hub > outlet.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:07 PM - NFOsec: that'sh what powers the tablet.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:08 PM - NFOsec: even with a battery-based tablet, it's bound to drain quickly with the graphics rendering unless you turn off updates during prints.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:08 PM - jbigler1986: hub is input, input, input, input then an output that is usually plugged into a pc
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:08 PM - NFOsec: I tried on battery, died in 2 hours fully charged.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:08 PM - NFOsec: don't need to be.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:08 PM - NFOsec: the hub is passive, all things connecting to it make whatever device intelligent enough to recognize USB (the tablet, phone) to control the hub-connected devices.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:09 PM - NFOsec: no pc in the equation.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:09 PM - jbigler1986: that's what i am saying. so the usb hub is giving power and acting like an adapter
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:09 PM - NFOsec: THEN, I set up wifi spot so I can drop files directly on the tablet or access them from my network from the tablet.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:09 PM - daniel871: Acting like a network hub yes.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:09 PM - NFOsec: yeah, you said it.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:09 PM - NFOsec: tower of Pi is at layer 9.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:10 PM - jbigler1986: gotcha. not using the output was what was confusing me
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:10 PM - NFOsec: I wonder if anyone ever validated the pi.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:11 PM - danzca6: 9 of?
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:12 PM - jbigler1986: so you could use this but the battery would die. [IMG]
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:12 PM - jbigler1986: it makes sense now
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:12 PM - jbigler1986: i was over analyzing it
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:12 PM - NFOsec: ok. man, I don't know how hi it goes.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:13 PM - NFOsec: but it's got 60 mins left.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:13 PM - jbigler1986: is it stringy or looking good
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:13 PM - NFOsec: [IMG]
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:14 PM - NFOsec: it's looking pretty good. I thought first few rings were cruddy, but turns out that that brushed off.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:14 PM - NFOsec: since this is alum PLA, I see I can sand/smoothen it.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:15 PM - NFOsec: does that really crappy mouse drawing cover the question?
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:15 PM - jbigler1986: lol. yeah. that's a decent go at it
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:16 PM - NFOsec: there are other ways, for example, a dual or quad duck tongue where one input could be power and the others the device, but I wanted reusability of the equipment in case it didn't pan. problem is, you can't drop a bluetooth plug into the USB and expect it to work, needs drivers.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:16 PM - NFOsec: thus arduino/bluetooth may be an option.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:17 PM - jbigler1986: i guess there is an octoprint alternate called astroprint
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:17 PM - NFOsec: I give credit to daniel for finding the program.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:18 PM - NFOsec: there are a few no doubt.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:19 PM - NFOsec: MG: I spent literally 3 years dwelling on the idea. if you got money to blow, an Epilog is 2nd to none for space and quality (only US-made laser), but Trotec and the others are good but expensive.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:20 PM - NFOsec: While the laser itself comes with a vented stainless steel bed, I invested $50 and bought a honeycomb bed for it.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:20 PM - NFOsec: used Epilog 40w is about $4-5k, new I think runs between 8-12k.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:20 PM - NFOsec: so with any level of smarts,. and understanding XYZ, it wasn't a major undertaking to go cheap and take care.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:22 PM - danzca6: Why does Robo send shipping notices via email under Brayden Moreno's name and not ROBO3D LLC or something? Get's me everythime
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:22 PM - NFOsec: So, I took the spool holder that slides down the front or back of the case, chopped off the spool holding part, and put a hinge on it so I can swing-arm a bracket for the tablet, putting it on the side. Then, I'll have to make a mount so I can put the camera underneath it to watch the table (or put it on the other side.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:22 PM - NFOsec: depends on who shipped it out.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:22 PM - NFOsec: I got mine from Jason.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:22 PM - danzca6: Isn't Brayden the CEO
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:22 PM - NFOsec: then Jerry, then, when the machine was within 5 miles of my place, I got a notice that it was being returned to sender (Jerry realized he sent one by mistake after it was already honored).
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:23 PM - danzca6: he should just be kicking back smoking cigars and drinking scotch
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:23 PM - NFOsec: well, after the VW thing, I wouldn't be surprised if he was looking to work too.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:23 PM - NFOsec: probably prep for CES 2016.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:23 PM - Mike Glass: Yea I was looking at a trotec, but not wanting to spend that much
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:23 PM - NFOsec: or he's concerned about muck-ups.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:24 PM - danzca6: I ordered one thing and got two notices this week...wonder what else they sent
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:24 PM - NFOsec: If the second one came, I wouldn't have had to return it because I didn't order it or ask for it, therefore the law staets I could have kept it.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:24 PM - NFOsec: probably the splattered brains of their latest intern?
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:24 PM - danzca6: no, not Harry
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:24 PM - Mike Glass: Braydon is a founder of another company as well.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:25 PM - NFOsec: don't know enough about anyone in the company other than Jerry and Hairy.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:25 PM - danzca6: don't want it to go all "Seven" on me when I get these packages
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:26 PM - NFOsec: So, I got my Square account and reader in today.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:26 PM - NFOsec: Paypal has been nice, but it's time for a change.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:26 PM - danzca6: oh, maybe one is the sample print of the robbie book marker I ordered when they went live with the new site
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:27 PM - Mike Glass: I have one of those also, havent activated it yet.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:29 PM - NFOsec: it's pretty easy, the reader for the phone, but I also got the NFC device which I don't know where it is yet. was supposed to be dropped today.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:33 PM - daniel871: Who was it that finally got a demo Tiko?
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:33 PM - daniel871: Did they print anything with it yet?
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:36 PM - NFOsec: I think it was a poster rolled up and put in a pelican case.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:36 PM - jbigler1986: lol
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:39 PM - jbigler1986: SWAE watches he is involved with
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:39 PM - NFOsec: MG: this is the other product I was expecting delivered today. https://squareup.com/contactless-chip-reader
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:40 PM - NFOsec: I was I could generate some nice voronoi images, could print out some wicked watch bands.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:41 PM - Mike Glass: yep and cofounder of iGeeks iPhone Customizations & Repairs
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:41 PM - jbigler1986: yep
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:42 PM - NFOsec: :)
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:42 PM - NFOsec: uGeeks.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:42 PM - Mike Glass: I see alot of them have other jobs now, one is in real estate
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:42 PM - jbigler1986: robo is his really baby though
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:42 PM - NFOsec: either scraping for cash or acting in the VC mindset.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:43 PM - daniel871: Here is how not to use stock photos in a newscast. http://i.imgur.com/kFe0odN.jpg
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:43 PM - NFOsec: ouch.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:43 PM - jbigler1986: way to go chicago
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:44 PM - daniel871:

Sep 23, 2015 at 1:46 PM - daniel871: Is it me or does that keychain someone posted from their R1+ in the FB group look rough?
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:46 PM - Mike Kelly: looks good to me
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:47 PM - jbigler1986: link?

Sep 23, 2015 at 1:48 PM - Mike Kelly: aww yay brook drumm posted on my g+ post, i feel special
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:49 PM - daniel871: Who is that?
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:49 PM - Mike Kelly: printrbot ceo
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:49 PM - Mike Kelly: on the show all american makers
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:49 PM - daniel871: There's a show?
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:50 PM - Mike Kelly: yes there was/is
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:50 PM - Mike Kelly: not sure if it's still on
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:50 PM - jbigler1986: tell him to send you the extruder gears to test. just the gears
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:50 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:52 PM - jbigler1986: ok MK. go back to your old g+ pic. :p
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:52 PM - jbigler1986: you need a cigar
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:52 PM - NFOsec: yeah, use the Murr landing strip picture. does you justice.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:52 PM - Mike Kelly: why what's wrong with it
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:53 PM - Mike Glass: this is a interesting idea. http://solsylva.com/cnc/vacuum.shtml
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:54 PM - NFOsec: this aluminum PLA prints like a cool pewter.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:56 PM - NFOsec: that was how I kind of started out, I actually routed 1" thick board for the base template, got some plastic, ran velcro inside it, and on the board perimeters (so I could remove the plastic sweep feet for quick access) and did a mount on top of the Z axis.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:56 PM - NFOsec: but I like your approach a little better.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:57 PM - Mike Glass: I have not approach yet..lol
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:57 PM - NFOsec: in the end, I cut this out. [IMG]
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:58 PM - NFOsec: I meant MK's approach sorry.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:58 PM - NFOsec: similar to quick release plate, you can slide open the clamp for the hose or the router.
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:59 PM - Mike Glass: nice
    Sep 23, 2015 at 1:59 PM - Mike Kelly: that's slick nfo
Sep 23, 2015 at 1:59 PM - Mike Glass: thats what I wasnt a clear base so I can see
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:00 PM - NFOsec: Well, the T-Glase could produce that, but if you have the shape, it's easy to laser it out and mount up the reset.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:01 PM - Mike Kelly: get some clear vinyl
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:01 PM - Mike Kelly: more i was just curious about the possibility of an entirely printed boot
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:01 PM - NFOsec: yeah, I'm not versed enough in the materials, but that makse sense.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:01 PM - NFOsec: it could be easily done.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:02 PM - NFOsec: the flaps you did seem to have a pretty good tensile strength yet flexible? Per chance they could snap off on any layer or did you do a 50% infill?
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:02 PM - Mike Kelly: this flex stuff is fun as a fidget toy
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:02 PM - Mike Kelly: uh i did pretty high infil, but the layer bond strength seems super good
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:02 PM - NFOsec: yeah, I suppose the infill type would have played an important part.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:03 PM - Mike Kelly: they're kinda more rigid than i'd like
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:03 PM - NFOsec: what about soaking them to break down the material?
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:03 PM - NFOsec: man, I have so many of those damn adafruit rulers.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:04 PM - NFOsec: so, I need to start sourcing the parts for that little clock project.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:04 PM - NFOsec: It would be cool to make a wall-hanging version of one.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 2:04 PM - NFOsec: don't you think MG?
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:05 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm gonna give it a go again but with normal ninjaflex
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:05 PM - NFOsec: MK: what temps did you use for the semi-flex, and what speed?
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:05 PM - Mike Glass: yes very cool, now I need to buy this laser but they dont list the correct hz for ac.. wth
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:06 PM - NFOsec: you could do tenacles, I saw a 3D print of them like a pastry brush used for BBQ sauce if you really wanted flex.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 2:06 PM - Mike Glass: Power supply: AC220±10% 50HZ/ AC110±10% 50HZ
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:06 PM - NFOsec: yeah, you have to specify if you're US or Intl based. 220 or 110.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:07 PM - Mike Glass: just a power supply switch I thought
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:07 PM - NFOsec: do you have a MakerSpace near you that might have one of these/
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:08 PM - Mike Glass: haha in the boonies,,funny
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:08 PM - NFOsec: yeah. ha.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:13 PM - Mike Kelly: 225 for the semiflex
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:13 PM - Mike Kelly: 10mm/s is what i used but you can probably do like 20-30 on a direct drive machine
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:13 PM - Mike Glass: gonna use the 1.7?
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:16 PM - Mike Glass: ok offer submitted.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:17 PM - NFOsec: ok. I only had it up to 210, so maybe that was why I wasn't content.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:17 PM - Mike Kelly: for what
    Sep 23, 2015 at 2:17 PM - NFOsec: semiflex.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:18 PM - Mike Kelly: you guys posted at the same time, that was for MG. but 210 is a bit on the low end of semiflex
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:18 PM - NFOsec: MK: oh, ok. sorry. thanks.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:18 PM - Mike Glass: oh..lol on the laser cutter.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:19 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm looking at my code it does seem like i used 210 as well
    Sep 23, 2015 at 2:19 PM - Mike Kelly: first layer i did 225
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:19 PM - Mike Kelly: the elcheapo MG?
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:19 PM - NFOsec: hey, it does the job.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:20 PM - Mike Glass: well $1500 if thats cheapo
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:20 PM - NFOsec: put it this way, when I originally got it, I talked to a phone repair place that also sells cases. They had some "templates" they wanted to laser do, so if I agreed to do 150 of them, the machine would be free basically.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:20 PM - Mike Kelly: oh no
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:21 PM - NFOsec: so, it paid for itself in 2 weeks.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:21 PM - Mike Kelly: i thought you meant that one from earlier
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:21 PM - Mike Kelly: what's the cutting area
    Sep 23, 2015 at 2:21 PM - Mike Glass: 300x500
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:21 PM - NFOsec: after that, some custom things came about for easy money.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:21 PM - NFOsec: basically 12x20 if you will.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:21 PM - Mike Glass: yep
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:22 PM - Mike Kelly: ah
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:22 PM - NFOsec: the key is getting a few basic things understood up front, after that, it's nothing.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:22 PM - NFOsec: MG: if/when one comes in, you're free to ask whatever. I can give you the fast-track.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:22 PM - NFOsec: just say xie xie.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:23 PM - NFOsec: polk flied lice.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:24 PM - Mike Kelly: did you just have a stroke
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:25 PM - Mike Glass: lol
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:25 PM - Mike Glass: I want to make those clocks those are so cool
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:25 PM - Mike Glass: but the etching for wedding stuff really appeals to me.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:26 PM - Mike Glass: Last year for our business we were going to get into sandblasting, but I thought laser would be better.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:27 PM - Mike Glass: and cant afford the cnc plasma table right now so this will give me something to do in the meanwhile.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 2:29 PM - NFOsec: that's easy stuff.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:29 PM - NFOsec: MK: LOL.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:30 PM - NFOsec: but it's all limited to your creativity. I actually have a good repository of laser related things (laserbits.com) and tons of resource files on how to do shit.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:30 PM - NFOsec: I've yet to 3D print something then laser it.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:30 PM - NFOsec: looking for that opportunity next.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:31 PM - Mike Glass: cool you could melt your prints
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:31 PM - NFOsec: Well, you must learn what plastics and materials you can't burn.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 2:31 PM - Bill Monroe:
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:32 PM - NFOsec: hola bill. Is that a glory hole print?
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:32 PM - NFOsec: I think that's what they call them.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:32 PM - Bill Monroe: if it was, it would be e times the size :)
    Sep 23, 2015 at 2:33 PM - donhuevo: gents
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:33 PM - Bill Monroe: don

Sep 23, 2015 at 2:33 PM - Mike Glass: can you etch like a soda can?
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:34 PM - Mike Glass: hey don
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:34 PM - donhuevo: everyone good?
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:34 PM - Mike Glass: I think your asking the wrong crowd
    Sep 23, 2015 at 2:34 PM - donhuevo: maybe
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:35 PM - Mike Glass: regulator should be here tomorrow then I can hook up the robo lights
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:35 PM - donhuevo: I'll make sure I'm ready to pitch in
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:36 PM - Mike Glass: woot woot
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:36 PM - Mike Glass: I need to find a 3rd job, to support my hobby habits
    Sep 23, 2015 at 2:37 PM - donhuevo: I hear ya
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:37 PM - NFOsec: you can etch easily anodized aluminum, if you use thermark or cermark (whatever metal marking) you can cover a few others easily.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:38 PM - NFOsec: don: huevo knows.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:38 PM - Mike Glass: where do I get thermark at?
    Sep 23, 2015 at 2:41 PM - Mike Glass: oh thermark.com
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:42 PM - NFOsec: laserbits.com, or some on ebay. gotta shop for those as they can be expensive from the wrong source.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 2:43 PM - Mike Glass: wow 2 cans for $134
    Sep 23, 2015 at 2:43 PM - NFOsec: funny, we're 3 days apart.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:44 PM - NFOsec: well, I bought one can for $53, and it covers something like 1000 or 2000 sq inches, which is huge for a lot of uncommon metal work.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:45 PM - Mike Glass: yea I suppose it goes a long ways.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:46 PM - Mike Glass: can you cut any acrylics or just specialized formula's
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:47 PM - NFOsec: most any,. I'm going to be sending you a dropbox link for you to download a bunch of stuff to get you started.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:49 PM - NFOsec: I've got a cut, no cut, engrave, no engrave listing from a number of sources in one spreadsheet that will help. It's good to learn and understasnd the M5DS details so you know whether or not something is laserable, engraveable, or a perfeect cyanide pill.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 2:50 PM - Mike Glass: im seeing double..lol
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:50 PM - Mike Glass: or my internet is going wacky here
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:52 PM - NFOsec: yeah, I had hit enter twice.
Sep 23, 2015 at 2:53 PM - Mike Glass: cool that will be great, I have not looked at materials yet.
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:03 PM - Mike Kelly: is danzca around?
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:04 PM - NFOsec: ok. back.
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:04 PM - NFOsec: man, 703mb worth of stuff.
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:05 PM - NFOsec: MG: can grab the dropbox stuff then let me know and I'll delete it after you have it.
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:05 PM - Mike Glass: ok, I can just dl to my dropbox from there.
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:07 PM - NFOsec: ok, been sent to you (convo).
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:07 PM - NFOsec: MK: is danz ever around?
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:08 PM - NFOsec: Oh, Robo3D will be info you need to know for the zip.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 3:09 PM - danzca6: I'm here
    Sep 23, 2015 at 3:09 PM - danzca6: what did I miss
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:10 PM - Mike Kelly: dan for mounting the mini ir sensor i have a couple ideas
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:11 PM - Mike Kelly: we can either take the stock single fan mount and add a easy mount point to it
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:11 PM - Mike Kelly: but i'm also considering making a mount that uses the dual fan mount i came up with
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:12 PM - danzca6: I've got your dual fan block installed
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:12 PM - danzca6: that was what I was thinking about remodeling it a bit to allow for it to attach on the right side
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:12 PM - Mike Kelly: so i'm thinking of sticking a bar between the opening and adding some mount holes there
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:13 PM - Mike Glass: couldnt you just use a longer screws on the fan and attach it to the extruder fan.
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:13 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm also an interesting idea, lemme check the heights
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:14 PM - danzca6: would that be too thick on the left and might hit the z?
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:15 PM - danzca6: Did Jim use some screw on the side (bottom) of the x-carriage to attach his bracket to?
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:16 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i think he has an older printer that didn't have a single mount for both fans
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:17 PM - NFOsec: curious, is a soda can made out of anodized alum?
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:17 PM - NFOsec: I konw dog tags are.
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:17 PM - Mike Kelly: jims hole pattern is different from the one for sale as well
    Sep 23, 2015 at 3:18 PM - danzca6: oh, ok
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:18 PM - Mike Kelly: well anodizing is a treatment
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:18 PM - Mike Glass: dont think its anodized
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:18 PM - NFOsec: I tried to print a collar (silencer) for some tags I had, but it's better to just order the molded.
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:18 PM - danzca6: and it needs to be about 1.5mm higher than hot end still?
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:18 PM - NFOsec: I may have to try it.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 3:18 PM - Mike Kelly: i use 1mm
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:19 PM - Mike Glass: is there a way to get feedback from that MK seems like its it always on?
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:20 PM - Mike Kelly: there's a secondary set of pin outputs but i'm not sure what it outputs
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:20 PM - Mike Kelly: i've been contemplating using a fet to act as a switch to disable power to it when not homing
    Sep 23, 2015 at 3:22 PM - danzca6: that makes good sense
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:23 PM - Mike Kelly: hasn't caused any issues though, just blinks a lot
    Sep 23, 2015 at 3:25 PM - danzca6: blinking lights are cool
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:25 PM - Mike Glass: yes they are, ok time to head home.
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:25 PM - danzca6: so it only reads during autolevel and won't interfere with the print
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:26 PM - danzca6: even though it is still on
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:27 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah it just has 5v running to it so it's always on
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:27 PM - Mike Kelly: but it's not looking for the "switch" activation
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:31 PM - NFOsec: so, just ordered 20 sheets of 12x24 clear acrylic to make some clocks. :)
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:32 PM - Mike Kelly: bitchin
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:32 PM - Mike Kelly: make me one :)
    Sep 23, 2015 at 3:32 PM - danzca6: careful that it doesn't look like a bomb
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:32 PM - NFOsec: I'll cut the acrylic out, will need to get a source list for the electronics from MG to spec out the rest.
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:33 PM - danzca6: what do you cut it with? Your laser?
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:33 PM - NFOsec: danz; you kidding? I'd LOVE to get a free 3DP, some rudimentary software, a Kinect scanner bundled up as iSense, and tons..
    Sep 23, 2015 at 3:33 PM - NFOsec: yeah.
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:33 PM - NFOsec: cut and engrave all laser.
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:33 PM - NFOsec: maybe can 3DP a base, but I'd probably go laser there too.. black acrylic.
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:33 PM - Mike Kelly: if i got a cube i'd sell that shit
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:33 PM - NFOsec: might make stand clips using 3DP.
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:34 PM - NFOsec: I think that's what the boy probably did is took it apart and made an ALARM clock.
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:34 PM - NFOsec: haven't beent oo crazy on the cube, but the design software isn't bad. I actually own that suite.
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:35 PM - NFOsec: I really have to go back and do the semi-flex again.
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:35 PM - Mike Kelly: i despise proprietary cartridges
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:35 PM - NFOsec: MK: you could modify the part to have an outer clamp ring and print: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:23648
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:36 PM - NFOsec: no kidding on that.
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:36 PM - NFOsec: any organization that forces me to pick their proprietary products just to use it means it isn't open-source enough for me.
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:36 PM - NFOsec: <-- used Linux back when it was version 0.77.
Sep 23, 2015 at 3:38 PM - NFOsec: well, 0.64, but nothing was stable until 0.77-0.81.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 3:38 PM - NFOsec: anyway.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 3:38 PM - NFOsec: bbiaf.

Sep 23, 2015 at 4:17 PM - jbigler1986: Not actual dremel brand though

Sep 23, 2015 at 4:20 PM - danzca6: MK, I know you aren't on right now, but that is BRILLIANT!
    Sep 23, 2015 at 4:22 PM - jbigler1986: You know it don
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:22 PM - NFOsec: mmm... I'm almost thinking that Cronixie clock is better off at 1/4" acrylic.
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:22 PM - NFOsec: so much slicker.
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:24 PM - danzca6: dangit don, I just googled that and not a dremel attachment
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:24 PM - Mike Kelly: lol thanks
    Sep 23, 2015 at 4:24 PM - danzca6: lol
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:24 PM - Mike Kelly: brilliant might be a bit much
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:25 PM - Mike Kelly: omg i'm so out of shape that bike ride home is brutal
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:26 PM - danzca6: MK, now would you have the IR in something that allows you to slide up and down a bit to adjust it to the correct height or did you already factor that into the model to be right on
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:26 PM - Mike Kelly: i did that on mine in case i needed to lower it, but at 1mm above the nozzles it gives me a z offset of almost 2
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:27 PM - Mike Kelly: sliding is difficult cause then you'd need an m2.5 nut to secure it
    Sep 23, 2015 at 4:27 PM - Mike Kelly: i think this'll work great
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:27 PM - Mike Kelly: though hmm, lemme check something right quick
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:28 PM - Mike Kelly: danz you don't have an R1+ do you
    Sep 23, 2015 at 4:29 PM - danzca6: nope
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:29 PM - NFOsec: MK: I did the stuff in 1/4" acrylic/plexi. wow, much better than 1/8th.
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:29 PM - NFOsec: MK: you mean someone other than me ordered an R1+
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:29 PM - jbigler1986: Mk what happened with markforge? Or do you not want to speak of it
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:30 PM - danzca6: you are the special NFO
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:32 PM - Mike Kelly: dan interested in testing a printed version of the quick release/
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:32 PM - Mike Kelly: jb: we spoke on friday and he told me they don't really have a mech e position open and wanted me to do applications/field engineering
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:32 PM - danzca6: hmmm, that might be interesting
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:32 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm giving them a chance to get me more information but i'm gonna say design or nothing
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:32 PM - Mike Kelly: i think they called monday but didn't leave a message
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:33 PM - danzca6: does it need the aluminum piece to go with it though?
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:33 PM - NFOsec: MK: What do you think about this? [IMG]
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:33 PM - Mike Kelly: dan me and robo think it would work fine with just printed
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:34 PM - Mike Kelly: if you don't want to i just need to modify the mount point a bit
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:34 PM - Mike Kelly: looks sweet nfo
    Sep 23, 2015 at 4:34 PM - Mike Kelly: that's the base?
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:35 PM - NFOsec: that's the clock face plates. I was doing a blank print of the templates in 1/4" [IMG]
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:35 PM - Mike Kelly: nice
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:36 PM - NFOsec: yeah, they are much better in 1/4 than 1/8th, more durable looking.
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:36 PM - Mike Kelly: though a stack of 10 of them would be quite thick
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:36 PM - danzca6: I bought a few extra linear bearings with my new leadscrews, so that might be fun to try out
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:36 PM - Mike Kelly: dan only part you would need is M4-25mm screws
    Sep 23, 2015 at 4:37 PM - NFOsec: so 0-9 (10 numbers) at 1/4" each yields 2.5", with maybe 1/8th inch between.
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:37 PM - danzca6: oh, so not the whole carriage needed for a reprint?
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:37 PM - NFOsec: so, a clock with 3" depth is nothing. this is fully wall-mountable if my opinion.
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:37 PM - Mike Kelly: nope
    Sep 23, 2015 at 4:37 PM - danzca6: yeah, I'll try it out
    Sep 23, 2015 at 4:38 PM - Mike Kelly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/j3jnp6lwbkmmypi/Hexagon Quick Release_Print.STL?dl=0
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:42 PM - danzca6: cool I'll try it out. how many screws needed?
    Sep 23, 2015 at 4:42 PM - Mike Kelly: just 2
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:42 PM - Mike Kelly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nvkzhdtvl2ytoiv/Hexagon Quick Release Spacer.STL?dl=0 you also need this
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:43 PM - Mike Kelly: here's how it works [IMG]
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:45 PM - Mike Kelly: might be tricky to get that spacer in
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:45 PM - Mike Kelly: you could scale it along the Z to 5.5mm so it's not quit such a tight fit
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:46 PM - danzca6: ok, I'll print them out and grab some screws this week. Will give her a go this weekend if I get my leadscrews in. I'll be taking it apart with that install anyway. I will try the spacer as is and see if it works first. Thanks.
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:47 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah might work as is and would be a nice snug fit
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:47 PM - Mike Kelly: i'll try it myself maybe tonight
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:47 PM - Mike Kelly: about to head out
    Sep 23, 2015 at 4:54 PM - jbigler1986: Not allowed
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:56 PM - danzca6: oh, are you thinking about attaching the IR to the quick release bracket?
Sep 23, 2015 at 4:59 PM - danzca6: is the spacer aluminum on the real R1+ as well?
Sep 23, 2015 at 5:02 PM - danzca6: well, I have to go install a new toilet...nothing but fun LOL
Sep 23, 2015 at 5:02 PM - Mike Kelly: On the R1+ they added the 'spacer' into the injection molded part. It's not a separate piece like I made
    Sep 23, 2015 at 5:03 PM - danzca6: ok, thanks Mike
Sep 23, 2015 at 5:06 PM - Mike Kelly: The IR will use the same file I sent you earlier. But if you use the stock pre r1+ mount it needs to go up 1mm
    Sep 23, 2015 at 5:10 PM - jbigler1986: mk
Sep 23, 2015 at 5:20 PM - NFOsec: haha... "spacer".... is that what they're calling it now?
Sep 23, 2015 at 5:28 PM - NFOsec: Oh Lord, what is I gonna do.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 5:52 PM - daniel871: I think I'm going crazy.
Sep 23, 2015 at 5:54 PM - jbigler1986: first extruder finished. printing a flex shaft holder now
    Sep 23, 2015 at 5:54 PM - jbigler1986: why is that dan
Sep 23, 2015 at 5:54 PM - daniel871: Everything is wired up and the axes go home properly, but when I manually tell X or Y to move with the Gcode Printr app, they go the opposite direction from what I tell them to do.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 5:55 PM - daniel871: Z axis does what I tell it to.
Sep 23, 2015 at 5:56 PM - daniel871: If I invert the direction in firmware it homes the wrong way on X/Y
    Sep 23, 2015 at 5:57 PM - jbigler1986: hmmmm
Sep 23, 2015 at 5:57 PM - jbigler1986: reverse it on the board?
Sep 23, 2015 at 5:58 PM - daniel871: same story as in the firmware reversal
Sep 23, 2015 at 5:58 PM - daniel871: Manual jog will go the way I tell it, but it tries to home in the wrong direction.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 5:59 PM - NFOsec: for what y or x?
    Sep 23, 2015 at 5:59 PM - daniel871: Both.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:00 PM - NFOsec: In my settings, I saw switch y as default (for MC), in S3D, Y is flipped as well.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:00 PM - daniel871: What is messing with me is Z is behaving properly
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:00 PM - NFOsec: so is my wife, but that doesn't mean I can't print. :)
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:00 PM - NFOsec: mm... speed?
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:01 PM - NFOsec: hopefully you didn't flip the wires. :)
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:01 PM - daniel871: Speeds and all are good. Motors run smooth, just in a weird direction. So mirror the axes in the controller software?
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:02 PM - NFOsec: that's what I had, see if that helps.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:02 PM - NFOsec: but I used to hate that for the CNC stuff, in 3DP doesn't seem to matter.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:04 PM - daniel871: I'll try it tomorrow after work when I'm maybe not as tired as I am now.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:05 PM - jbigler1986: MG. where are you
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:05 PM - jbigler1986: what firmware changes would need make to use the robo as a cnc for thin wood or whatever
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:08 PM - NFOsec: MG is probably doing dishes.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:08 PM - jbigler1986: lol
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:13 PM - daniel871: Anyony have a sliced program handy to look and see if X and Y are negative in the actual code after homing? If everything is actually in quadrant 3 instead of quadrant 1, then the default control moves make sense.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:14 PM - daniel871: http://www.mathopenref.com/coordplane.html
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:15 PM - daniel871: If the quadrant references don't make sense.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:15 PM - jbigler1986: looks like this is really the only change needed #define min_software_endstops false (needed to machine in the negative direction)
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:15 PM - daniel871: That is already false.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:16 PM - jbigler1986: so then no changes are need
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:16 PM - daniel871: I'm just confused by which way the Robo is set up to work.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:17 PM - jbigler1986: i hate to say it but you may need to start from a fresh firmware
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:17 PM - daniel871: I usually program things at work as if I'm working in Quadrant 1.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:17 PM - NFOsec: daniel: what makes you think it was set up TO work? :) (sorry, trying to make light).
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:18 PM - NFOsec: quadrants would be based off of where ever you homed 0,0,0 anyway.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:19 PM - daniel871: The Rambo is behaving as if Quadrant 3 is the work area though.

Sep 23, 2015 at 6:19 PM - NFOsec: er center of the bed I meant.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:19 PM - NFOsec: is absolute positioning on/
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:19 PM - NFOsec: ?
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:19 PM - NFOsec: that's another thing that could throw you off.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:20 PM - daniel871: Yes.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:21 PM - NFOsec: try off then back on to force a reset, or off altogether to see if same effect.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:22 PM - daniel871: I cycled power and disconnected my phone between every test I did this evening.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:23 PM - NFOsec: mm...
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:23 PM - daniel871: The only change between the Robo firmware and what I have on tgere right now is motherboard 301 instead of 34 for the dual extruder setup.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:24 PM - daniel871: 301 being the Rambo.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:24 PM - NFOsec: mmm.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:24 PM - NFOsec: if you have at least a .44, I'd take it out back and shoot it.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:25 PM - daniel871: I have 7mm Swiss and 7.62x54r
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:25 PM - daniel871: But no.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:27 PM - daniel871: If the slicer software has inverted X/Y for tge controls then it makes sense that I seem to have them going the wrong way in Gcode Printr because it isn't inverting those.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:27 PM - daniel871: Even though homing commands go home like they should.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:28 PM - jbigler1986: oh i need to change temp sensors to 0. almost forgot
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:28 PM - daniel871: By that I mean the Robo3D profiles for MC or S3D.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:28 PM - jbigler1986: can you try with a pc or different controller
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:29 PM - daniel871: I figure I'll try with the PC tomorrow.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:30 PM - daniel871: It has S3D and I can try the machine control on it just to make sure GCode printer isn't behaving like a CNC Mill controller.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:32 PM - daniel871: Thinking of the bridgeport we have at work that moves the bed relative to the head, which screws with you if you actually want the jig to go the otger way when touching off.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:33 PM - daniel871: Does that make any kind of sense NFO?
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:36 PM - Mike Glass: what up kids
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:36 PM - NFOsec: yeah.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:36 PM - NFOsec: hey MG. someone's GPS is broken.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:37 PM - Mike Glass: who's
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:37 PM - NFOsec: daniel.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:37 PM - Mike Glass: on his robo?
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:38 PM - NFOsec: so, there is no way to specifically call a value of a scale in S3D that I can find?
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:38 PM - NFOsec: yeah, if that is what he calls it now.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:38 PM - Mike Glass: what do you want to do, scale the project?
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:39 PM - Mike Glass: just double click on the project then there is a scaling in there toward the bottom.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:39 PM - NFOsec: mm... I clicked on the scale toolbar icon, but let me try ttha.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:40 PM - NFOsec: yeah, there it is.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:40 PM - Mike Glass: woot
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:40 PM - NFOsec: thanks. I figured it should have collapsed/expanded.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:40 PM - Mike Glass: Hey I got the go ahead on the laser.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:40 PM - NFOsec: so see my pictures earlier of the blanks for the clock?
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:40 PM - NFOsec: cool.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:40 PM - Mike Glass: no I didnt
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:41 PM - NFOsec: still up there 623, 640 time range.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:41 PM - jbigler1986: MG did you use a resistor or just do firmware edits for the cnc?
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:41 PM - Mike Glass: what the hell is the hologram one
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:41 PM - Mike Glass: looks cool
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:41 PM - NFOsec: it's not a hologram, I actually put it on top of a celtic tile cutout pattern on some 1/8" birch.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:42 PM - NFOsec: the other was the blanks on a laser.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:42 PM - NFOsec: It is 60 pieces basically for the clock numers.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:42 PM - Mike Glass: acrylic?
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:43 PM - Mike Glass: why no numbers?
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:44 PM - Mike Glass: oh I see that just the metal bottom
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:44 PM - Mike Glass: do you always use wax paper?
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:44 PM - NFOsec: this was just blanks, I wanted to template the process out.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:45 PM - Mike Glass: gotcha
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:45 PM - NFOsec: it isn't wax paper, acrylic sheets typically have paper-backing, you take off one, the other protects the underside.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:45 PM - NFOsec: I just bought a large roll of a mask in the event I used sheets that didn't have it. otherwise painter's tape does the job well.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:46 PM - Mike Glass: oh guess im used to brown paper on it
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:46 PM - NFOsec: man, semi-flex literally is impossible to get off the PEI.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:46 PM - Mike Glass: thats how old my plexi is..
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:46 PM - Mike Glass: I need to put my pei on
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:46 PM - NFOsec: well, these were those plexi/acrylic sheets you can by in 18/24 or whatever sizes, I got some really cheap and they had clear plastic on them which would melt ugly.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:47 PM - Mike Glass: oh like lowes has on theirs
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:47 PM - NFOsec: why the heck would the semi-flex stick like bad gum in hair...
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:47 PM - NFOsec: yeah.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:48 PM - NFOsec: shit.. what a pain...
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:48 PM - NFOsec: scrape scrape scrape, to no avail yet.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:48 PM - Mike Glass: is it cooled down yet?
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:49 PM - NFOsec: even if it were to cool down, it would be impossible.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:49 PM - NFOsec: it's like a really bad label.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:49 PM - NFOsec: mmm...
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:50 PM - NFOsec: might not have leveled well enough and came down too close on the 1st layers.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:50 PM - NFOsec: besides, could have actually printed this without heated bed.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:53 PM - Mike Glass: so do each of those tabs get a light?
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:53 PM - NFOsec: yes.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:54 PM - NFOsec: that's basically the way I see it, they are strategically tabbed for a light.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:54 PM - NFOsec: the shape is the same, just some were flipped. I think 4 flipped together give you a specific pattern for spacing.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:57 PM - Mike Glass: can you cut 5mm birch ply with the laser?
    Sep 23, 2015 at 6:59 PM - NFOsec: 5mm birch yeah, I use 1/8" as standard work
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:59 PM - NFOsec: I can cut 1/4" wood as well you just slow down the speed and increase the power.
Sep 23, 2015 at 6:59 PM - NFOsec: once you get the knack for the settings the sky is the limit. that's why I gave you a few charts that were used for baselines. I found sometimes I had to slow down or increase power for some.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:00 PM - NFOsec: but they're pretty close.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:00 PM - NFOsec: I'm trying to print a base for a flip-flop using the semi-flex.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:00 PM - Mike Glass: guess I need a copy of coreldraw or should I be fine with inkscape
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:01 PM - NFOsec: but I had a poor scale on the first one (was 1.5" long).
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:01 PM - NFOsec: it would be fine, but the chinese give you an older version of Corel Draw 12 which works fine.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:01 PM - NFOsec: but I started with inkscape and exported out and used RDworks, or imported into Corel Draw and then did it out from there.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:01 PM - NFOsec: there are "choices".
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:02 PM - NFOsec: Corel doesn't really recognize v12 anymore since 12 went to X1 now to X7.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:02 PM - NFOsec: full suite on Amazon is about $289, but not worth it unless you're out of other programs.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:02 PM - NFOsec: but you got IS, so not a worry.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:03 PM - Mike Glass: it says its not included
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:06 PM - NFOsec: it doesn't tell you, but it's there.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:06 PM - Mike Glass: CorelDraw & AutoCAD but Not Included in this item.)
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:06 PM - NFOsec: send me your link.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:07 PM - NFOsec: mine said the same,. but it was there.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:07 PM - NFOsec: does it say it includes LaserWorks, RDworks or whatever?
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:07 PM - Mike Glass: http://www.ebay.com/itm/27123808374...I271238083748.N101.S1.R1.TR4&autorefresh=true
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:10 PM - NFOsec: yeah, exact same configuration, don't worry about it. catch is, who knows if the software is legally distributed which is why they don't broadcast it because it was v12.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:10 PM - NFOsec: but, this has an ethernet port and USB port, so you can hook it up on network and print straight to it or have a local PC/laptop connected to it, OR use a usb thumbie.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:12 PM - Mike Glass: I didnt see the ethernet port

    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:12 PM - NFOsec: I know, but it's there.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:13 PM - NFOsec: they just didn't leave an obvious connector on the outside, it's inside the side panel where the PSU/LSU and stuff is. you put it in and create a channel out near the power buttons.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:13 PM - NFOsec: you got to remember, they're not paid to write in english.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:13 PM - Mike Glass: lol true
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:14 PM - NFOsec: typically I buy stuff like this on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/271709795622?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:16 PM - Mike Glass: Yea I buy those in 4x8 sheets
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:17 PM - NFOsec: right, but I'm poor. :) LOL
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:17 PM - Mike Glass: for these [IMG]
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:18 PM - Mike Glass: its only like $21 for a 4x8
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:18 PM - NFOsec: I installed this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Flow-Scout-...Cooler-free-/121605575554?hash=item1c5041d382
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:18 PM - NFOsec: nice. I love how the burl came into the paw.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:19 PM - NFOsec: but I should have used this one or one like it.

Sep 23, 2015 at 7:21 PM - Mike Glass: here is another one. [IMG]
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:22 PM - NFOsec: nice.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:23 PM - Mike Glass: I hand paint all these, PITA
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:23 PM - NFOsec: well, I was testing the water temp. It's important the water doesn't get too warm or the tube over heats. some people throw in ice packs, etc.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:23 PM - NFOsec: that's cool.. too much time on your hands?
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:23 PM - Mike Glass: Just like creating stuff.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:23 PM - NFOsec: not that it was necessary, but I figured it was just cool.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:23 PM - NFOsec: yeah, ditto.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:24 PM - Mike Glass: these are my biggger ones. [IMG]
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:25 PM - Mike Glass: we sell a this colored stain called unicorn spit. pretty cool stuff.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:25 PM - NFOsec: I remember seeing that one.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:25 PM - Mike Glass: im making 24 of them
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:25 PM - Mike Glass: all different animals
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:26 PM - Mike Glass: No if I could just sell some..lol
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:26 PM - NFOsec: that's cool.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:26 PM - NFOsec: well, you just need to find one and they may buy a series.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:26 PM - NFOsec: maybe you need to do 187.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:26 PM - NFOsec: LOL
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:27 PM - NFOsec: damn it. semi-flex isn't doing diddley.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:27 PM - Mike Glass: I dont have that much scrap flooring
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:27 PM - Mike Glass: these are all hardwood flooring samples
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:28 PM - NFOsec: that's cool, you know it's good quality wood then.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:28 PM - Mike Glass: yea real nice for free
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:29 PM - Mike Glass: I try to use recycled stuff as much as possible
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:30 PM - Mike Glass: here is some with the custom stand I built. [IMG]
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:30 PM - Mike Glass: all free wood
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:31 PM - Mike Glass: My buddy owns a mill and I make him signs so I get all the wood I want
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:31 PM - NFOsec: that's cool.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:32 PM - Mike Glass: are you running stock robo
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:32 PM - NFOsec: pays to have a woody friend.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:32 PM - NFOsec: yeah stock R1+.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:32 PM - NFOsec: I would like to move it upstream, but wanted to get a feel for things first.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:32 PM - Mike Glass: I was afraid to try the flex on mine.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:32 PM - NFOsec: for example, going dual, etc.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:32 PM - NFOsec: actually, I found out I had it threaded wrong.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:32 PM - NFOsec: dumb.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:32 PM - NFOsec: OMG.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:32 PM - Mike Glass: I cant do nylon because of the hex
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:32 PM - NFOsec: dumb.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:33 PM - Mike Glass: Threaded?
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:33 PM - NFOsec: there it goes.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:33 PM - Mike Glass: was it sticking out the side..lol
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:33 PM - NFOsec: I used Nylon or at least the Taulman 910 on this hex.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:33 PM - NFOsec: no, it literally circled the nob!
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:34 PM - Mike Glass: lol
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:34 PM - NFOsec: hob gear.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:34 PM - NFOsec: holy shit.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:34 PM - NFOsec: don't know how the hell I did that,.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:34 PM - NFOsec: much better.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:34 PM - Mike Glass: I have a v6 for my new carriage that has a blower on it for the parts
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:34 PM - Mike Glass: but waiting to finish the extruder
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:35 PM - NFOsec: that's cool. I was thinking about that chimera but.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:35 PM - NFOsec: Deep down I wish I could have used the Micron3DP, but the shaft / gear from the stepper is too long.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:35 PM - Mike Glass: I just want bowden and sppeeeeeed
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:35 PM - NFOsec: none of this big flywheel crap.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:36 PM - NFOsec: after reading up with everyone else moving to the E3D v6, sounds like a popular choice.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:37 PM - Mike Glass: im happy with the hex, other than the tolerance
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:38 PM - NFOsec: I probably should get some extra ends soon just to be prepared.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:39 PM - Mike Glass: .8 is fun
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:40 PM - NFOsec: pumping chunks? probably.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:41 PM - NFOsec: is that the volcano?
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:41 PM - NFOsec: btw, the infamous "manual" that you won't get was included in that collection as a PDF.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:41 PM - NFOsec: the one they provide is too high level.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:41 PM - Mike Glass: nope, I have the v6 .8 it works on the hex.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:42 PM - NFOsec: so you still use 1.75 filament on a ,8?
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:42 PM - Mike Glass: yep, and that sucker spins fast..
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:42 PM - NFOsec: so what does the 406 represent? AC?
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:43 PM - Mike Glass: check it out. http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/robo-on-steroids.4716/
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:43 PM - NFOsec: number of trees cut?
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:43 PM - Mike Glass: area code for MT
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:43 PM - NFOsec: nice.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:44 PM - NFOsec: I suppose you could really extrude a flattened layer if you wanted to.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:44 PM - NFOsec: up to 1.5 or maybe even 2.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:45 PM - Mike Glass: yes we have only one area code.lol
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:45 PM - NFOsec: the Taulman 618 bridge nylon does not really work well with the extruder/feed on the robo -- if at all. the 910 works really well.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:45 PM - NFOsec: for the whole state. figures.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:49 PM - Mike Glass: I have the bridge and dont work too well
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:50 PM - Mike Glass: looks like it should be here next thursday.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:52 PM - NFOsec: that's cool.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:52 PM - NFOsec: shippingf rom LA?
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:52 PM - Mike Glass: ontario
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:52 PM - NFOsec: ontario. yeah.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:53 PM - NFOsec: sort of a robo thing. comes to the port of San Diego, then gets stored in a warehouse.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:53 PM - NFOsec: IU bought from the same guy you did.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:53 PM - Mike Glass: now I have to rearrange my office
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:53 PM - Mike Glass: cool

Sep 23, 2015 at 7:54 PM - Mike Glass: have to move the stereo and rack somewhere, oh and inkjet. ugg..
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:54 PM - NFOsec: well, it is "big" in the nominal sense of the word.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:55 PM - NFOsec: but, just remember the word of venting
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:55 PM - Mike Glass: oh and a tree plant, maybe I can give that away.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:55 PM - Mike Glass: yes it will be right by a window and I will make a plate that fits into it.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:56 PM - Mike Glass: or I could put a hole if I really needed to the outside
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:57 PM - Mike Glass: running my 3d printer and 2 cnc machines and a laser is gonna take some power im thinking..lol
    Sep 23, 2015 at 7:57 PM - NFOsec: yeah.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:58 PM - NFOsec: well, the laser doesn't draw more than the cnc in my opinion.
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:58 PM - NFOsec: but I'm not an electrical guy.:)
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:58 PM - Mike Glass: the cnc's are in the shop i dont want dust in this machine
Sep 23, 2015 at 7:59 PM - Mike Glass: I wired this addition and the shop so I did it right, I even have ethernet every 6 feet in the office.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:00 PM - NFOsec: yeah, but you'll still be shop-vacuuming it once in a while.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:00 PM - Mike Glass: is the machine loud at all, compared to the robo?
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:02 PM - NFOsec: well, considering my disability, I would have to say I've been told the robo is much louder.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:02 PM - NFOsec: you get whirs back and forth, and the air pump.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:03 PM - NFOsec: water pump is submerged so...
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:03 PM - Mike Glass: my robo is very loud with that 25mm fan, that will change soon though
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:04 PM - NFOsec: hearing is overrated.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:06 PM - danzca6: any of you work with solidworks files? How to easily convert them to STL? Tried using eDrawings, but when save as STL it loses scale.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:06 PM - Mike Glass: very easy
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:07 PM - Mike Glass: did you change the scale to MM
    Sep 23, 2015 at 8:07 PM - danzca6: in eDrawings?
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:07 PM - Mike Glass: yea
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:07 PM - danzca6: good question...I will check to see if that was set by default
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:08 PM - NFOsec: I use 3D object converter to do that.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:08 PM - NFOsec: or free cad
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:09 PM - NFOsec: bill is the SolidCad guruie.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:09 PM - NFOsec: danz: you're the one who did a camera mount similar to what I did right?
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:09 PM - Mike Glass: check in the markup tab
    Sep 23, 2015 at 8:10 PM - danzca6: that wasn't me NFO
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:10 PM - Mike Glass: I need to mount my logitech on the bed
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:11 PM - NFOsec: must've been daniel then. you all look alike.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:11 PM - Mike Kelly: yo
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:11 PM - NFOsec: yeah, I have that 920, but I didn't put a hole to use the tripod screw.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:11 PM - NFOsec: can probably just drill that through.
    Sep 23, 2015 at 8:12 PM - danzca6: nothing under markup tab
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:13 PM - danzca6: says I need to install the SolidWorks Document Manager. Wonder if that is what is missing
    Sep 23, 2015 at 8:13 PM - danzca6: I'll give it a shot
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:13 PM - jbigler1986: MG what cam software are you using
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:15 PM - Mike Glass: estlcam
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:16 PM - Mike Glass: soldering all these neopixels together is not fun
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:16 PM - NFOsec: well, is it actually a soldering job?
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:17 PM - NFOsec: any other ways? can breadboard them.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:17 PM - Mike Glass: not what im doing, im putting them in my iron man reactor
    Sep 23, 2015 at 8:17 PM - NFOsec: oh.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:19 PM - Mike Glass: and its about 3/16 to each one
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:20 PM - Mike Glass: hand arent as steady as they used to be
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:22 PM - NFOsec: you need to take them to the old folks home, I'm sure there is someone there with parkinsons that can handle it.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:22 PM - Mike Glass: lol
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:23 PM - NFOsec: nothing like a little flux and go.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:23 PM - Mike Glass: thank goodness for my visegrip strippers
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:24 PM - NFOsec: shit, I'd strip the skin off my hands before I'd strip a thin wire. I have a USB magnifyer that I use. works great.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:24 PM - Mike Glass: jb you starting up your cnc?
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:27 PM - Mike Glass: wish I had a real soldering station
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:28 PM - Mike Glass: but this one guy talked me in to buying a laser.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:29 PM - NFOsec: maybe you can work on precision laser-soldering.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:29 PM - NFOsec: not feasible, but whatever.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:30 PM - Mike Glass: well maybe make circut boards?
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:32 PM - NFOsec: now that you can probably do. at least on a CNC you can do boards easy.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:34 PM - NFOsec: this PEI really peissed me off.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:34 PM - NFOsec: the semi-flex stuck soo much that it's like bad gum in hair.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:35 PM - NFOsec: I wonder what I need to do to get that off.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:36 PM - NFOsec: it's sort of like a fruit roll up, took the PEI off the bed to "scrape.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:38 PM - Mike Glass: do you have any dust off
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:54 PM - Harry: Hey All
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:57 PM - Mike Glass: harry
    Sep 23, 2015 at 8:58 PM - NFOsec: Harry.
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:58 PM - NFOsec: MG: dust off? you mean that stuff that huffers use?
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:58 PM - Mike Glass: yea, turn it upside down and freeze it
Sep 23, 2015 at 8:59 PM - Harry: How are you guys
Sep 23, 2015 at 9:00 PM - NFOsec: Harry: hanging in there bud. yourself?

Sep 23, 2015 9:01 PM - NFOsec: <--- loves it when people one finger type and do about a letter a minute.
    Sep 23, 2015 9:01 PM - WheresWaldo: Evening everyone
    Sep 23, 2015 9:01 PM - NFOsec: hola WW.
Sep 23, 2015 9:02 PM - Harry: i'm hanking in there as well
    Sep 23, 2015 9:02 PM - NFOsec: or konichi-wa.
    Sep 23, 2015 9:02 PM - NFOsec: good deal.
Sep 23, 2015 9:02 PM - Harry: going to head to bed soon but thought i'd stop by first while i checked my emails
Sep 23, 2015 9:03 PM - NFOsec: yeah, it's better to get requests for help and not answer them until the wee hours of the day, only to find out that you didn't get enough information to respond to them accordingly, so you get to answer tomorrow at the same time after getting additional info.
Sep 23, 2015 9:03 PM - WheresWaldo: Harry, when you get a chance, take a look at Marlin 1.1.0, I think the devs are getting closer to a release. And it's working really well on my Robo.
Sep 23, 2015 9:03 PM - NFOsec: something fishy about that.
Sep 23, 2015 9:04 PM - Harry: i'll definatley take a look at that myself
Sep 23, 2015 9:04 PM - Harry: and make sure the other guys too
    Sep 23, 2015 9:04 PM - NFOsec: what's the new benefit WW?
Sep 23, 2015 9:04 PM - Harry: i think theres always a benefit to updating to the latest firmware.
Sep 23, 2015 9:05 PM - NFOsec: that's what bill gates said for Microsoft Harry. it's not always the best, but I would concur it's better to have a stabilized version.
Sep 23, 2015 9:06 PM - WheresWaldo: There has been a ton of work on auto-tramming, there are a few more safety measures, there is a lot of updates to how it uses the Graphics LCD, and it is generally faster.
    Sep 23, 2015 9:06 PM - Harry: Yessir
    Sep 23, 2015 9:07 PM - NFOsec: that's cool.
Sep 23, 2015 9:08 PM - WheresWaldo: Harry, you can just look at Configuration.h if you want Plain Jane, Robo is a Robo, but I also added code for Babysteps and enabled the full graphics LCD on by default
    Sep 23, 2015 9:09 PM - Harry: sweet i'll definitely take a look
Sep 23, 2015 9:09 PM - WheresWaldo: Babysteps was based on Ziggy's original code. I am going to do a pull request on the Configuration.h so the Robo gets added as an example configuration in the release.
    Sep 23, 2015 9:09 PM - WheresWaldo: Hopefully
Sep 23, 2015 9:10 PM - WheresWaldo: Configuration.h by itself will work on the R1 and the Plus if you change the Z axis default steps.
    Sep 23, 2015 9:11 PM - WheresWaldo: Actually, its a +PLUS (kind of redundant)
Sep 23, 2015 9:11 PM - Harry: alright guys got to head off. talk soon
    Sep 23, 2015 9:11 PM - WheresWaldo: See ya.
Sep 23, 2015 9:12 PM - WheresWaldo: NFO, you should at least load it up and see for yourself. I think I am also going to put Sonny's Percent Complete code in the next batch.
    Sep 23, 2015 9:13 PM - NFOsec: will do.
    Sep 23, 2015 9:13 PM - NFOsec: toodles.
    Sep 23, 2015 9:14 PM - WheresWaldo: Goodnight.
Sep 23, 2015 9:14 PM - NFOsec: MG: was playing with the numbering, I think they actually did a single-line cut through (but not all the way through) vs. a rastered engraving on the acrylic which is more common.
Sep 23, 2015 9:15 PM - NFOsec: going to put a piece on top of some LED strip I have to see what it looks like, will try a pix.
Sep 23, 2015 9:17 PM - Mike Glass: ah makes sense
Sep 23, 2015 9:24 PM - NFOsec: here's a rudimentary image of them sitting on a light strip but not really aligned.
    Sep 23, 2015 9:24 PM - NFOsec: [IMG]
    Sep 23, 2015 9:25 PM - Mike Glass: I like the vector 2 better
Sep 23, 2015 9:25 PM - NFOsec: the one on the left was a cut, goes through about 1/3-1/2 of the piece. the other is a raster engrave which maybe covers 1/16-3/16 of the surface engraved down.
Sep 23, 2015 9:26 PM - NFOsec: was hard to hold them since I don't have a channel for them, it's sitting on a water proof LED strip.
Sep 23, 2015 9:26 PM - Mike Glass: the raster one I meant
Sep 23, 2015 9:26 PM - NFOsec: I think the 1st one is better don't you? sharp, modern, etc.
Sep 23, 2015 9:27 PM - NFOsec: yeah, personally I do too since it's giving you more coverage.
    Sep 23, 2015 9:27 PM - NFOsec: same font.
Sep 23, 2015 9:27 PM - Mike Glass: guess its hard to tell without having it in front of you
Sep 23, 2015 9:28 PM - Mike Glass: maybe cause its taller also
Sep 23, 2015 9:28 PM - NFOsec: well, I'll build out 3 sets of 60. in the next day/two and maybe work towards getting you and MK a set for fun.
    Sep 23, 2015 9:28 PM - NFOsec: yeah, technically it's slightly larger. 200pt vs. 180pt.
Sep 23, 2015 9:28 PM - NFOsec: getting that much closer to reality. :)
Sep 23, 2015 9:29 PM - Mike Glass: im just learing this neopixel code, but don is way better at it
Sep 23, 2015 9:29 PM - NFOsec: neopixel stuff isn't too bad. Adafruit has lots of good primers on the topic.
Sep 23, 2015 9:29 PM - NFOsec: loading all the proper libraries, etc. ugh, it was a learning experience in the day.
    Sep 23, 2015 9:31 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
    Sep 23, 2015 9:32 PM - NFOsec: so cool!
Sep 23, 2015 9:33 PM - Mike Glass: I need to build the base for it now.
Sep 23, 2015 9:34 PM - Mike Glass: well better get my butt to bed, long day tomorrow.
Sep 23, 2015 9:34 PM - NFOsec: more numbers to compare on.
Sep 23, 2015 9:35 PM - Mike Glass: thanks for all the info today
Sep 23, 2015 9:35 PM - Mike Glass: hmm now im not sure what I like
Sep 23, 2015 9:35 PM - NFOsec: I angled it so you can see the effects of a cust vs. raster.
Sep 23, 2015 9:36 PM - NFOsec: see the 2 flat cut, and the 2 raster shadowed?
    Sep 23, 2015 9:36 PM - Mike Glass: yea
Sep 23, 2015 9:36 PM - Mike Glass: either way its effin cool
Sep 23, 2015 9:36 PM - NFOsec: another approach is to do a cut outline and raster inside which would give it a real full 3D.
Sep 23, 2015 9:37 PM - NFOsec: yeah, it is.
Sep 23, 2015 9:37 PM - NFOsec: maybe I'll just tell people I Robo printed this with the R1+ no mods, and a clear nylon.
Sep 23, 2015 9:37 PM - Mike Glass: I didnt care for the music that they guy had but it would be cool if it moved to the sound of music
Sep 23, 2015 9:37 PM - NFOsec: lol. watch them freak.
Sep 23, 2015 9:38 PM - NFOsec: no, the music was just another subroutine. you know what it would be for don't you?
Sep 23, 2015 9:38 PM - NFOsec: those "laser light" or follow the music spectrographs.
Sep 23, 2015 9:39 PM - NFOsec: the dial is something seen before, also sliders.
Sep 23, 2015 9:39 PM - Mike Glass: yea I used to mess with laser lights, I had one in back of my truck that wrote stuff on the back window back in the teen days
Sep 23, 2015 9:39 PM - NFOsec: could even go to simply using a mouse touch pad
    Sep 23, 2015 9:39 PM - NFOsec: :)
Sep 23, 2015 9:40 PM - Mike Glass: or bluetooth
Sep 23, 2015 9:40 PM - Mike Glass: then control from your phone
Sep 23, 2015 9:40 PM - NFOsec: well, you could've done what I did when I was younger -- since I don't hear for shit, I had (2) 250w Traynor floor speakers mounted into the trunk well of my 83 firebird GTA. key was never volume over 3 when trunk shut, otherwise you'll blow out the glass.
Sep 23, 2015 9:41 PM - NFOsec: yeah, that's an easy one as well.
Sep 23, 2015 9:41 PM - NFOsec: seen plenty of routines for that.
Sep 23, 2015 9:41 PM - Mike Glass: yea I blew out the seals on that truck with 2 15" subs in the cab
Sep 23, 2015 9:41 PM - NFOsec: I might do one with a cut and raster just to see how it fares, will show tomorrow before I go and cut up these things.
Sep 23, 2015 9:42 PM - NFOsec: the traynors were probably 15" at least. but hey, my deaf friends enjoyed the bass.
Sep 23, 2015 9:42 PM - Mike Glass: cool, ok off to bed. see ya tomorrow.
Sep 23, 2015 9:44 PM - NFOsec: well, I'm going to cut one now, bugs me, but sure, l8r.
Sep 23, 2015 10:00 PM - NFOsec: MG: figured you lied and are still here. last 2 images. The "4" has a cut and raster.
    Sep 23, 2015 10:00 PM - NFOsec: [IMG]

    Sep 24, 2015 5:21 AM - JeffTheMess: oh ok
Sep 24, 2015 5:23 AM - danzca6: Bill, someone mentioned last night that you use solidworks. that true?
Sep 24, 2015 5:24 AM - Bill Monroe: that is true
    Sep 24, 2015 5:24 AM - JeffTheMess: I "should" buy more nozzles buuuuut i won't yet
Sep 24, 2015 5:24 AM - danzca6: I don't have it, but I have some files that I want to convert to STL
    Sep 24, 2015 5:24 AM - danzca6: do you know of a good converter?
Sep 24, 2015 5:25 AM - danzca6: I tried eDrawing and it screwed up the scale
Sep 24, 2015 5:25 AM - Bill Monroe: I do not but that's probably becuase I have solidworks.. how many do you have?
Sep 24, 2015 5:26 AM - JeffTheMess: doesn't solidwork convert directly to stl? That should be a common feature now.
    Sep 24, 2015 5:26 AM - danzca6: just one mainly
Sep 24, 2015 5:26 AM - Bill Monroe: it can save its files in .stl format, as well as many others
Sep 24, 2015 5:26 AM - Bill Monroe: can you get it to me? I'll do it for ya
Sep 24, 2015 5:28 AM - danzca6: It's on my laptop at home, so I will message you with it when I get back home at some point. Thanks
Sep 24, 2015 5:28 AM - Bill Monroe: you bet
Sep 24, 2015 5:35 AM - daniel871: You have to have the Premium/full blown/all the bells-and-whistles Solidworks to import STL files, and even then it's kind of buggy.
    Sep 24, 2015 5:35 AM - daniel871: If you want feature recognition.
Sep 24, 2015 5:35 AM - daniel871: Or, I say buggy, but the STL you bring in needs to be damn near perfect or Solidworks will crash trying to analyze it.
Sep 24, 2015 5:37 AM - JeffTheMess: for that i would use something like blender to edit stl
Sep 24, 2015 5:41 AM - Bill Monroe: if whoevrt made the stl isnt paying attention, they can be save with the number of faces larger than solidworks creates, but there are apps that can reduce the number of faces below the limit, and then be drawn into solidworks as a dolid
    Sep 24, 2015 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: solid
Sep 24, 2015 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: it's not a wekaness in SW, that many faces is inefficient and uneccesary
Sep 24, 2015 5:44 AM - Bill Monroe: gads.. I need to wake up
Sep 24, 2015 5:46 AM - Bill Monroe: Sketchup is the worst.. their STLs are frequently impossible to read by any other program
Sep 24, 2015 5:49 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah its the worst
Sep 24, 2015 5:52 AM - Bill Monroe: OK, tea consumption has commenced... I should be fully aware shortly...
    Sep 24, 2015 5:59 AM - NFOsec: greets.
    Sep 24, 2015 6:01 AM - jbigler1986: i messed with sketchup for like 2 minutes
    Sep 24, 2015 6:01 AM - danzca6: Morning NFO
Sep 24, 2015 6:02 AM - NFOsec: jbig: did you break it in the process?
    Sep 24, 2015 6:03 AM - jbigler1986: nope. i just hated it
    Sep 24, 2015 6:03 AM - daniel871: Same. I hated how Sketchup modeled things.
Sep 24, 2015 6:04 AM - daniel871: But I was spoiled by initially learning on Solidworks probably.
Sep 24, 2015 6:05 AM - NFOsec: I really enjoyed SpaceClaim, but the price is a little excessive for anyone not monetizing the use of it.
    Sep 24, 2015 6:09 AM - Bill Monroe: NFO
    Sep 24, 2015 6:09 AM - daniel871: I thought they were bought out? They're still around?
Sep 24, 2015 6:10 AM - Bill Monroe: I was an autocrud user, since it was first released.. but I dumped it the day Solidworks hit the market and never looked back
Sep 24, 2015 6:10 AM - daniel871: We use outdated versions of both here.
    Sep 24, 2015 6:11 AM - daniel871: AutoCAD 2004, Solidworks 2013, LOfnL
Sep 24, 2015 6:12 AM - daniel871: It's a good thing Audodesk has that DWG viewer that allows you to convert newer CAD files to older AutoCAD formats. Or that DraftSight is still free to use (hilarious that the free DraftSight has more features than the full version of AutoCAD this company still uses).
Sep 24, 2015 6:14 AM - daniel871: I would like Solidworks more if other people weren't constantly breaking assemblies whenever they worked on a project.
Sep 24, 2015 6:15 AM - daniel871: Do a Save As Copy and work with the Copy, don't modify the original and break a project we did for another customer. Sheesh.
Sep 24, 2015 6:17 AM - daniel871: Also somebody has a newer version of Solidworks than everyone else and every now and then I'll go to pull something up and get an "Unable to open - Future Version" error and have to dig into a backup and overwrite the files on our "standard parts" collection that people are supposed to be copying to a separate project folder instead of using the file in that folder.
Sep 24, 2015 6:32 AM - Bill Monroe: why do you consider previous versions outdated?
Sep 24, 2015 6:33 AM - Bill Monroe: I have 2010 installed (cuz one of my clients still uses it) and it's every bit as good as the day it was released
Sep 24, 2015 6:41 AM - daniel871: Because it's a hassle any time someone that actually uses current versions of software sends you reference files for an order they want to place.
Sep 24, 2015 6:41 AM - Bill Monroe: well, get the current version :)
Sep 24, 2015 6:41 AM - daniel871: I would if I had the authority to spend company money on it.
    Sep 24, 2015 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: I have 10, 14,and 15 for that reason
Sep 24, 2015 6:43 AM - daniel871: The current viewpoint the bean counters have is that it costs less to send a guy to inspect the machine and pay the expenses for that for however many days that takes than the $6k local Solidworks sales guys quote for the current version.
Sep 24, 2015 6:45 AM - daniel871: I pointed out that logic works if we're only talking about one trip in a given year, but it happens every four or five weeks.
    Sep 24, 2015 6:45 AM - daniel871: Didn't work.
    Sep 24, 2015 6:46 AM - Bill Monroe: understood
Sep 24, 2015 6:47 AM - daniel871: Reminds me that I need to set some money aside and plan some time off to take the certification courses and have certification for my resume.
Sep 24, 2015 6:47 AM - Bill Monroe: I am now totally free of the corporate ingonrance, politics, and plotting
Sep 24, 2015 6:49 AM - daniel871: Also wealthy enough to have the option of picking your place of retirement and only having the main difficulty of figuring out which one you'd like best.
Sep 24, 2015 6:49 AM - NFOsec: bill: that is a benefit many will never realize, but good for you.
Sep 24, 2015 6:49 AM - Bill Monroe: that took years of work... you'll get there
Sep 24, 2015 6:50 AM - daniel871: Nah, I'll be lucky to live that long with my family's medical history.
Sep 24, 2015 6:51 AM - Bill Monroe: especially since a uber-bad divorce left me 44K in debt at 43, with the kids
Sep 24, 2015 6:53 AM - daniel871: Currently 60k in the hole on medical bills myself thanks to pre-Obamacare insurance rules for employer-provided health insurance.
Sep 24, 2015 6:55 AM - daniel871: Only good thing there is they don't pile up interest the way other debts do.
    Sep 24, 2015 6:57 AM - jbigler1986: medical bills are killer
Sep 24, 2015 6:57 AM - daniel871: They aren't *quite* as bad as actual loan debts though.
Sep 24, 2015 6:57 AM - daniel871: Most aggravating thing about them is that they're allowed to call you every day asking for payment even if you've already made payment plan arrangements.
Sep 24, 2015 6:58 AM - daniel871: (not required to answer the phone though)
Sep 24, 2015 6:59 AM - daniel871: Also keeping track of all of the different labs and doctor offices and such that are owed money was a pain to get ironed out at the start.
Sep 24, 2015 6:59 AM - Bill Monroe: <-- just discovered Makerbot reels hang nicely on doorknobs :)
    Sep 24, 2015 7:01 AM - daniel871: The 10lb ones?
    Sep 24, 2015 7:01 AM - Bill Monroe: 1kg
Sep 24, 2015 7:02 AM - Bill Monroe: then they are near exhausted, they get unstable
Sep 24, 2015 7:03 AM - daniel871: I kind of want to get one of those 20lb ABS spools and use it to print a shitload of Red ABS things but don't know of any projects that would reasonably take that much filament. :p
Sep 24, 2015 7:04 AM - daniel871: A ton of Red ABS Robby prints maybe?
    Sep 24, 2015 7:08 AM - JeffTheMess: Glowforge 3D Laser Printer
Sep 24, 2015 7:12 AM - daniel871: Got an ad for a BMW X1 where a woman reverses down a driveway, remote opens the rear door and hits the brakes, dumping her ex's shit in the driveway, and drives off.
    Sep 24, 2015 7:18 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
    Sep 24, 2015 7:18 AM - danzca6: morning
    Sep 24, 2015 7:19 AM - daniel871: Happy Friday Eve.
    Sep 24, 2015 7:19 AM - JeffTheMess: morning
Sep 24, 2015 7:20 AM - daniel871: My Robo is all wired back up and appears to be working other than some confusion on my part about which way the X&Y axes should move when jogging them in a phone app that can control the printer.
Sep 24, 2015 7:21 AM - daniel871: (Apparently the Axes manual controls should be mirrored; everything homes like it should)
    Sep 24, 2015 7:22 AM - jbigler1986: MK both extruders printed
Sep 24, 2015 7:22 AM - Mike Kelly: dan: sure they're plugged in correct?
Sep 24, 2015 7:22 AM - Mike Kelly: jb sweet
Sep 24, 2015 7:22 AM - daniel871: Yes, MK. If I reverse the plugins it tries to home in the wrong direction.
Sep 24, 2015 7:23 AM - Mike Kelly: ah gotcha
Sep 24, 2015 7:24 AM - daniel871: It kind of reminds me of how a CNC machine we have at work moves the axes relative to the head location vs. moving the actual axis in the indicated direction (Bridgeport based CNC controller).

Sep 24, 2015 7:24 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm still waiting for how this laser cutter is 3D
Sep 24, 2015 7:24 AM - daniel871: Yeah I quit watching that video when the "4 months ago" title came up.
Sep 24, 2015 7:25 AM - danzca6: does anyone have the model of the newer top for the R1 with the upper z smooth rod stabalizer? Trying to model something that incorporates it, but all the models I found are of the older version of the robo top.
Sep 24, 2015 7:26 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm no i never modeled that
Sep 24, 2015 7:26 AM - daniel871: Felt good to have the Robo fully re-assembled last night, finally.
Sep 24, 2015 7:27 AM - danzca6: alright...not the easiest thing to measure for placement and arch, but I will just do a best guess
Sep 24, 2015 7:27 AM - jbigler1986: the flex shaft adapter didn't fit. it was to loose. booooo
Sep 24, 2015 7:28 AM - daniel871: Does anyone have a link to the enclosure on Thingiverse handy? I want to print the rigid drop-in mounts and get rid of hinges altogether on my enclosure.
Sep 24, 2015 7:28 AM - daniel871: N/m, it came up in my browser history as I was typing it in for a search.
Sep 24, 2015 7:29 AM - danzca6: MK, saw your top on the full robo model and looks like you have holes aready for the hing for your encloser and the rigid mounts. Kinda cool. Not that I would print a whole top ;)
    Sep 24, 2015 7:30 AM - danzca6: why don't you want the hinges dan
    Sep 24, 2015 7:30 AM - danzca6: seems to be handy
Sep 24, 2015 7:31 AM - daniel871: I went cheap on them the first time around and they broke off when I removed the top cover to work on the Robo (used permanent adhesive to attach them instead of screws)
Sep 24, 2015 7:32 AM - daniel871: So now I have my first prints to make. Mounting latches for my enclosure.
    Sep 24, 2015 7:33 AM - danzca6: fair enough
Sep 24, 2015 7:34 AM - danzca6: the enclosure is on my todo list. did you get yours from printed solid or did you cut your own
    Sep 24, 2015 7:35 AM - daniel871: PrintedSolid
Sep 24, 2015 7:35 AM - danzca6: matt priced the kit pretty well. not sure doing it on my own would even be worth it
Sep 24, 2015 7:35 AM - danzca6: and ... hopefully some of that $$ goes back to the designer
Sep 24, 2015 7:35 AM - daniel871: I didn't have the means to do it myself, so I ordered the kit.
Sep 24, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Kelly: if you had the laser yourself you could get it for around $60
Sep 24, 2015 7:37 AM - danzca6: do you get a cut of that from PS mike?
Sep 24, 2015 7:37 AM - daniel871: Really not that much of a cut to get if the material cost is $60
Sep 24, 2015 7:38 AM - danzca6: no, but if so, then it's a win win to support two forum members
Sep 24, 2015 7:38 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i pay for the materials and he sells it for me
Sep 24, 2015 7:39 AM - Mike Kelly: he gets part of the profit for packaging and shipping then i get the remainder
    Sep 24, 2015 7:40 AM - danzca6: that's a nice setup
    Sep 24, 2015 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Sep 24, 2015 7:40 AM - daniel871: Only thing left for me to do to the Robo is change the brass nozzles out for the wear resistant ones I ordered from PS when they come in.
    Sep 24, 2015 7:40 AM - danzca6: is that 1/4" or 1/8"
Sep 24, 2015 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: not a whole lot of money from it, but eh
    Sep 24, 2015 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: 1/8"
Sep 24, 2015 7:41 AM - daniel871: Probably won't actually change the nozzles until the brass ones show evidence of wear though.
Sep 24, 2015 7:41 AM - daniel871: Or the next time they get severely clogged.
Sep 24, 2015 7:42 AM - danzca6: Could you swap the head for the MPCNC for a laser cutter head?
Sep 24, 2015 7:42 AM - danzca6: not sure how much one of those cost to do that kind of work
    Sep 24, 2015 7:42 AM - danzca6: probably not a quick ROI
    Sep 24, 2015 7:43 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Sep 24, 2015 7:43 AM - Mike Kelly: it can accept most any tool head
    Sep 24, 2015 7:44 AM - danzca6: I wish there was a makerspace in my area
Sep 24, 2015 7:44 AM - danzca6: too $$$ to get all the toys myself
    Sep 24, 2015 7:51 AM - JeffTheMess:
Sep 24, 2015 7:54 AM - NFOsec: danz: start one up.
Sep 24, 2015 7:55 AM - NFOsec: charge for use of of your equipment, OR, check with local chamber of commerce or economic development, they have been known to give grants. local college/tech schools also play possibilities.
Sep 24, 2015 8:00 AM - Mike Kelly: the one near-ish me closed down
Sep 24, 2015 8:04 AM - danzca6: NFO, I have given that a lot of thought over the year
Sep 24, 2015 8:05 AM - danzca6: there is a building just accross the street from the school that would be perfect for it that is up for sale
Sep 24, 2015 8:05 AM - danzca6: just need to find some investors
    Sep 24, 2015 8:05 AM - danzca6: closest to me is Milwaukee
Sep 24, 2015 8:06 AM - danzca6: they have a nice setup but it would be a crazy drive to make it worth it
Sep 24, 2015 8:06 AM - danzca6: I really liked the pics of your work with your laser etcher/cutter NFO
    Sep 24, 2015 8:07 AM - danzca6: someday
Sep 24, 2015 8:07 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't understand how jimmy diresta builds without measuring
Sep 24, 2015 8:08 AM - Mike Kelly: i guess he's aligning on that slot
    Sep 24, 2015 8:11 AM - JeffTheMess: haven't seen a screw up yet
    Sep 24, 2015 8:12 AM - donhuevo: I'm a screw up
    Sep 24, 2015 8:14 AM - daniel871: What did you break?
Sep 24, 2015 8:15 AM - NFOsec: don, self-realization is the first step to recovery.
Sep 24, 2015 8:15 AM - NFOsec: he probably cut wires.
Sep 24, 2015 8:16 AM - NFOsec: MK: using pre-set guides on the saws, end-stops on the table, etc.
Sep 24, 2015 8:16 AM - NFOsec: don't know why you would need to measure. :)
Sep 24, 2015 8:16 AM - NFOsec: have you been to the milwaukee one?
Sep 24, 2015 8:17 AM - NFOsec: was thinking about joining that one myself.
Sep 24, 2015 8:17 AM - NFOsec: this Saturday they're having a MakerFaire in State Fair Park grounds in Milwaukee. covering a lot of bases.
    Sep 24, 2015 8:17 AM - NFOsec: https://makerfairemilwaukee.com/
    Sep 24, 2015 8:18 AM - NFOsec: I'm going.
    Sep 24, 2015 8:20 AM - daniel871: Huh. http://www.makerfaireatl.com/
    Sep 24, 2015 8:21 AM - NFOsec: huh.
    Sep 24, 2015 8:21 AM - NFOsec: [IMG]
    Sep 24, 2015 8:21 AM - NFOsec: sob.
    Sep 24, 2015 8:21 AM - NFOsec: Robbie has competition. https://makerfairemilwaukee.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/MFMKE2015_7257.jpg
    Sep 24, 2015 8:21 AM - daniel871: Broken image.
Sep 24, 2015 8:22 AM - daniel871: That thing would eat Robby for lunch.
Sep 24, 2015 8:22 AM - NFOsec: broken dreams daniel.
Sep 24, 2015 8:22 AM - donhuevo: I didn't break anything... just in my nature to be a screw up
Sep 24, 2015 8:22 AM - NFOsec: isn't that what unicorns do? their screw is up?
Sep 24, 2015 8:22 AM - NFOsec: OMG, I did NOT say that.
Sep 24, 2015 8:22 AM - NFOsec: where the heck does this come from.
Sep 24, 2015 8:23 AM - NFOsec: donhuevo, I join you on the ranks there.
    Sep 24, 2015 8:34 AM - Mike Glass: morning
    Sep 24, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: mornin
Sep 24, 2015 8:35 AM - daniel871: Huh, I think I'll get some tickets to the local makerfaire and take my cousin to it.
Sep 24, 2015 8:36 AM - daniel871: He wants to get a 3d printer of his own and play with stuff, figure he'd get a kick out of the booths there.
Sep 24, 2015 8:37 AM - Mike Kelly: very nice
Sep 24, 2015 8:39 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm what's something fun i could work on
    Sep 24, 2015 8:40 AM - Mike Glass: cnc?
Sep 24, 2015 8:40 AM - JeffTheMess: a cnc for jb? from the robo
Sep 24, 2015 8:41 AM - daniel871: A Robo to CNC mill conversion would be a tremendous waste of time, given how it will vibrate just printing. Can't imagine how the vibration from an actual spindle would telegraph thru the machine.
    Sep 24, 2015 8:41 AM - jbigler1986: i do need a mount. the one i printed isn't snug enough
    Sep 24, 2015 8:42 AM - jbigler1986: using a flex shaft there isn't much vibration at all
Sep 24, 2015 8:42 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm i have talked about making a panel saw
Sep 24, 2015 8:42 AM - Mike Glass: yea panel saw
    Sep 24, 2015 8:43 AM - Mike Glass: with 75 608zz bearings
    Sep 24, 2015 8:43 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
    Sep 24, 2015 8:43 AM - jbigler1986: only 75?
Sep 24, 2015 8:43 AM - Mike Glass: probably needs more
Sep 24, 2015 8:44 AM - donhuevo: mg... what time are we playing with neopixels? I want to make sure I'm around
Sep 24, 2015 8:44 AM - Mike Kelly: i guess i should work on my mpcnc design
    Sep 24, 2015 8:44 AM - Mike Kelly: table*
Sep 24, 2015 8:45 AM - Mike Glass: hmm, well hopefully my stuff shows up today, but probably around 7 my time

Sep 24, 2015 8:45 AM - danzca6: NFO, yes, I am going to the milwaukee makerfaire this weekend. Probably Saturday. My wife wants to go out the the cranberry festival in Warren on Sunday
    Sep 24, 2015 8:45 AM - donhuevo: so 9ish for me
    Sep 24, 2015 8:45 AM - NFOsec: or 6 ish for me?
Sep 24, 2015 8:45 AM - Mike Glass: yeah, that is probably past your bedtime
Sep 24, 2015 8:45 AM - NFOsec: sounds like the early bird gets the worm.
Sep 24, 2015 8:46 AM - danzca6: I haven't been to their makerspace, but hope to make it out for their open night some Tuesday
Sep 24, 2015 8:46 AM - NFOsec: yeah, a few of my friends go. I'd rather set up one near the border so members of the "other side" could fund it.
    Sep 24, 2015 8:47 AM - danzca6: what...the broke IL
Sep 24, 2015 8:47 AM - NFOsec: spare me, I'm surprised you haven't 3D printed an alternative iPass holder.
    Sep 24, 2015 8:47 AM - danzca6: LOL
    Sep 24, 2015 8:48 AM - NFOsec: bedtime MG?
Sep 24, 2015 8:48 AM - NFOsec: sleep is overrated.
    Sep 24, 2015 8:49 AM - NFOsec: I was up to 2:30, wakey wakey at 6.
Sep 24, 2015 8:49 AM - NFOsec: story of my life.
Sep 24, 2015 8:49 AM - NFOsec: I figured if I logged on to a system in another time zone, I could gain up to 3-4 hours (at least the zones I have covered)
Sep 24, 2015 8:49 AM - danzca6: Just got notice that IR is on its way...can't wait to get all these new goodies installed
Sep 24, 2015 8:50 AM - Mike Glass: I should if stayed up didnt sleep worth a shit
Sep 24, 2015 8:50 AM - NFOsec: well, you're probably just like a little kid in a toy store these days.
Sep 24, 2015 8:50 AM - Mike Glass: did you figure hout how to mount it dan?
Sep 24, 2015 8:51 AM - NFOsec: LOL. whoa. talk about coming into a conversation late.
    Sep 24, 2015 8:51 AM - danzca6: MK came up with a solution
Sep 24, 2015 8:51 AM - NFOsec: classic. when it doubt, let Mikey do it.
    Sep 24, 2015 8:51 AM - NFOsec: Life Cereal.
Sep 24, 2015 8:51 AM - Mike Glass: never heard that one before
Sep 24, 2015 8:52 AM - NFOsec: "I'm not going to try it, you try it..." "hey, let's get Mikey to try it..." "yeah".
Sep 24, 2015 8:52 AM - danzca6: "kid in store..." no money and begging mom for money to buy things. Yeah, that's how I feel :)
Sep 24, 2015 8:52 AM - NFOsec: come on MG, we're only 3-4 years and 3 days apart, you would HAVE to remember Life cereal commercials.
    Sep 24, 2015 8:53 AM - Mike Glass: I was being facetious
Sep 24, 2015 8:53 AM - NFOsec: well, it certainly would be a lot better than living in the hood and pimping your mom out to pay for your toys. (someone once told me that -- they were from Detroit)
Sep 24, 2015 8:54 AM - danzca6: oh, yeah, that would not be me at all
Sep 24, 2015 8:54 AM - NFOsec: another big word from the man of Iron.
Sep 24, 2015 8:54 AM - NFOsec: er how does that go? Duh! figured.
Sep 24, 2015 8:55 AM - NFOsec: MK: what in your experiences has caused stuff to overly stick to PEI?
    Sep 24, 2015 8:56 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't use pei
Sep 24, 2015 8:57 AM - NFOsec: I'm sorry, let me rephrase the question. If you used PEI, what would your experience be with stuff overly sticking to it?
    Sep 24, 2015 8:57 AM - NFOsec: LOL.
Sep 24, 2015 8:58 AM - NFOsec: printed the semi-flex on it yesterday, what a pain it was to strip the part off.
Sep 24, 2015 8:58 AM - daniel871: Do you have any palette knives, NFO?
Sep 24, 2015 8:58 AM - daniel871: I had to start using those as the scraper that came with the Robo was way to thick to get between the print and the PEI.
Sep 24, 2015 8:58 AM - NFOsec: yeah, but I would have almost guaranteed scraped the hell out of this thing.
Sep 24, 2015 8:59 AM - NFOsec: I use palette knives or a cricut scrapper.
Sep 24, 2015 8:59 AM - NFOsec: the Robo scrapper was already re-provisioned on day one as a putty knife.
Sep 24, 2015 8:59 AM - daniel871: Last change I did that seemed to help before all of my electronics failed was changing 1st layer height to 100% instead of the usual 90%.
Sep 24, 2015 8:59 AM - jbigler1986: did you have issues with parts sticking to the glass bed?
    Sep 24, 2015 9:00 AM - PeterkSharma: morning all
    Sep 24, 2015 9:00 AM - NFOsec: not me.
    Sep 24, 2015 9:00 AM - NFOsec: hello Peter.
Sep 24, 2015 9:00 AM - jbigler1986: just wanted to use a different bed material?
Sep 24, 2015 9:00 AM - NFOsec: PEI was just a test thing, zebra works great, glass with some PVA works as well.
Sep 24, 2015 9:01 AM - NFOsec: it was just this semi-flex, the others nylon, PLA, etc. all were fine.
Sep 24, 2015 9:01 AM - daniel871: PEI is the most suggested thing for getting ABS to stick that isn't "Apply a bunch of adhesives to your bed every print"
Sep 24, 2015 9:01 AM - Mike Kelly: too low?
Sep 24, 2015 9:01 AM - NFOsec: yeah, but I'm sure glue sniffers are uniting against that product.
Sep 24, 2015 9:02 AM - NFOsec: hard to imagine, first layer definitely wasn't too low.
Sep 24, 2015 9:02 AM - PeterkSharma: if the chamber was headed to help prevent warping, would that fix all the sticking problems by reducing warping?
Sep 24, 2015 9:02 AM - NFOsec: maybe too low JUST for semi, could be a possibility.
    Sep 24, 2015 9:02 AM - NFOsec: otherwise I've got 4 spools of a table leveler product.
    Sep 24, 2015 9:02 AM - jbigler1986: @Peter, that would help a ton yes
Sep 24, 2015 9:02 AM - PeterkSharma: that sentence was very redundant.... i'm just on my first sip of coffee
Sep 24, 2015 9:03 AM - NFOsec: Peter: man, eat the grounds raw...
Sep 24, 2015 9:03 AM - PeterkSharma: is the reason that is hard because its hard for motors to operate at those temps
Sep 24, 2015 9:03 AM - PeterkSharma: I'm setting up my coffee IV
Sep 24, 2015 9:08 AM - jbigler1986: that is something you need to worry about if you plan to actually heat up the chamber. If you plan on containing the heat from the hotend and bed the motors will be fine. You just need to build an enclosure
Sep 24, 2015 9:14 AM - Mike Kelly: plus ideally you don't want much convection going so that adds further complexity
Sep 24, 2015 9:15 AM - NFOsec: well, off to laser cutting some clock faces.
    Sep 24, 2015 9:15 AM - NFOsec: later.
    Sep 24, 2015 9:15 AM - Mike Glass: l8tr
    Sep 24, 2015 9:15 AM - Mike Kelly: enjoy
Sep 24, 2015 9:15 AM - donhuevo: vaya con huevos
Sep 24, 2015 9:16 AM - Mike Glass: mine should be here next thursday
    Sep 24, 2015 9:17 AM - jbigler1986: your what?
Sep 24, 2015 9:17 AM - Mike Kelly: did he accept your bid?
Sep 24, 2015 9:17 AM - Mike Glass: laser cat
    Sep 24, 2015 9:18 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG] ?
Sep 24, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Glass: not entirely, but he said there was not alot of margin. still $300 less then what they were selling for last month.
Sep 24, 2015 9:20 AM - Mike Glass: I was going to buy the one from JT but decided to get a real cutter.
    Sep 24, 2015 9:20 AM - Mike Glass: 2.8 watt vs 50w no comparison
Sep 24, 2015 9:21 AM - Mike Glass: plus all the shielding I would have to do on the cnc so the kids didnt walk in and blind themselves.
Sep 24, 2015 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: got a link to it?
Sep 24, 2015 9:21 AM - jbigler1986: MG did you add a resistor or just do firmware changes?
    Sep 24, 2015 9:22 AM - Mike Glass: I did both actually
    Sep 24, 2015 9:22 AM - Mike Glass: http://www.ebay.com/itm/271238083748?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Sep 24, 2015 9:23 AM - Mike Glass: what are you doing jb?
Sep 24, 2015 9:24 AM - Mike Kelly: nice mg, pretty jealous
Sep 24, 2015 9:25 AM - jbigler1986: just thinking about throwing on my flex sheft dremel on the robo. curious
Sep 24, 2015 9:25 AM - donhuevo: the laser cat made me remember this...
    Sep 24, 2015 9:25 AM - Mike Kelly: JB http://forums.reprap.org/read.php?1,356635
Sep 24, 2015 9:25 AM - Mike Glass: lol just make sure you put a piece of ply down on the bed first
    Sep 24, 2015 9:26 AM - jbigler1986: yeah
Sep 24, 2015 9:26 AM - Mike Glass: I saw that on your g+ mk, looks interesting
    Sep 24, 2015 9:26 AM - jbigler1986: wtf MK
    Sep 24, 2015 9:26 AM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
Sep 24, 2015 9:26 AM - Mike Glass: what is that?
Sep 24, 2015 9:27 AM - daniel871: Put that FlexDrive opposite the X-stepper on the x-axis to balance it.
Sep 24, 2015 9:27 AM - Mike Kelly: brainslug from futurama
Sep 24, 2015 9:28 AM - Mike Glass: I know, but what is the patch in the front?
Sep 24, 2015 9:28 AM - Mike Kelly: put a tea candle light inside it and changed it to a blue LED, the printed some diffusers with t-glase
Sep 24, 2015 9:28 AM - daniel871: Then open the top of the Robo up so it can have room to move while printing and forget about enclosed printing.
    Sep 24, 2015 9:28 AM - Mike Kelly: that's the eyeball
Sep 24, 2015 9:28 AM - Mike Kelly: they should have done another coat of white

Sep 24, 2015 9:30 AM - Mike Kelly: wow i think that's the first time facebook ever went down for me
    Sep 24, 2015 9:34 AM - daniel871: So it's not just me? Ok.
Sep 24, 2015 9:34 AM - daniel871: "Something went wrong, sorry about that"
    Sep 24, 2015 9:35 AM - daniel871: Haha. https://twitter.com/TheTweetOfGod/status/647087714739707906
Sep 24, 2015 9:42 AM - Mike Kelly: #define ENDSTOPS_ONLY_FOR_HOMING // If defined the endstops will only be used for homing
    Sep 24, 2015 9:42 AM - Mike Kelly: hmmm
Sep 24, 2015 9:43 AM - Mike Kelly: wonder what disabling that would do
Sep 24, 2015 9:46 AM - danzca6: MG, nice laser cutter. Still some left...how quick could I get money for one of my kidneys?
Sep 24, 2015 9:50 AM - Mike Glass: Im on the payment plan for 6 months so not too bad.
    Sep 24, 2015 9:52 AM - danzca6: whoa....payment plan....shoot Now I could afford that
Sep 24, 2015 9:56 AM - Mike Glass: Paypal had a 6 month same as cash deal.
    Sep 24, 2015 9:56 AM - danzca6: so tempting
Sep 24, 2015 9:56 AM - danzca6: I better keep with learning 3d printing before stretching into the world of lasers...but they are so cool
Sep 24, 2015 9:58 AM - Mike Glass: yea, I had my printer since the first of the year, then built a cnc in march, now its time for laser.
Sep 24, 2015 9:58 AM - Mike Glass: I may be the new makerspace here in town soon
Sep 24, 2015 9:59 AM - donhuevo: the whole state even
Sep 24, 2015 10:00 AM - Mike Glass: or let me say the only makerspace
Sep 24, 2015 10:00 AM - Mike Glass: I think the bigger cities have them
Sep 24, 2015 10:01 AM - Mike Glass: even though we are the capitol we are way smaller then others.
Sep 24, 2015 10:02 AM - jbigler1986: you live in the only city in montana
Sep 24, 2015 10:35 AM - Mike Kelly: // Enable the option to stop SD printing when hitting and endstops, needs to be enabled from the LCD menu when this option is enabled. //#define ABORT_ON_ENDSTOP_HIT_FEATURE_ENABLED
Sep 24, 2015 10:35 AM - Mike Kelly: also interesting
Sep 24, 2015 10:36 AM - Mike Kelly: looks like there are ways to use the endstops during a print
    Sep 24, 2015 10:36 AM - jbigler1986: hmm
Sep 24, 2015 10:37 AM - jbigler1986: so do i just need to change thermistor to 0 if i want to use it an engraver?
    Sep 24, 2015 10:46 AM - bamhm182: Hey, everone
    Sep 24, 2015 10:46 AM - danzca6: good afternoon sir
    Sep 24, 2015 10:47 AM - danzca6: how's the newish robo
Sep 24, 2015 10:47 AM - bamhm182: MK, I pulled the values from the refurb stepper drivers and updated my thread. Also printing out a benchy from my R1 now to compare to the one I printed with the refurb last night
    Sep 24, 2015 10:47 AM - bamhm182: It's going
    Sep 24, 2015 10:48 AM - jbigler1986: nice
Sep 24, 2015 10:49 AM - danzca6: so what drove you to getting a second machine?
Sep 24, 2015 10:49 AM - danzca6: able to work on one while the other is down?
    Sep 24, 2015 10:49 AM - bamhm182: The fact that I can get a new R1+plus for around $570 total
    Sep 24, 2015 10:49 AM - danzca6: you got a refurb of an R1+ already?
    Sep 24, 2015 10:50 AM - danzca6: I thought it was just an R1
Sep 24, 2015 10:50 AM - bamhm182: I've been wanting to get a second one for a while, mostly so I could print out the stupid crap other people wanted me to while not inconveniencing myself
Sep 24, 2015 10:50 AM - bamhm182: So you remember that meme contest?
    Sep 24, 2015 10:50 AM - danzca6: yes
    Sep 24, 2015 10:50 AM - danzca6: did you win?
Sep 24, 2015 10:51 AM - bamhm182: Colton Leeroy Jenkins Ellison is my roommate. We were originally going to put this once we won
    Sep 24, 2015 10:51 AM - bamhm182: [IMG]
    Sep 24, 2015 10:52 AM - danzca6: holy flappers...that's awesome
    Sep 24, 2015 10:52 AM - danzca6: I saw he put like 30 memes out there
Sep 24, 2015 10:52 AM - bamhm182: But then we had the idea to see if Robo had a problem with us buying a refurb and using that for the upgrade, and they didn't
Sep 24, 2015 10:52 AM - daniel871: MK, Bill was saying something about the Arduino not being able to handle the motion prediction math in addition to constantly watching for the endstop triggers.
Sep 24, 2015 10:52 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, we were sitting there looking through the memes on imgflip trying to think about anything to put for a long time, haha
Sep 24, 2015 10:53 AM - daniel871: Yeah, I was a little aggravated over all of the memes that I know I'd seen elsewhere being posted in a "create a meme" contest.
    Sep 24, 2015 10:53 AM - daniel871: :p
    Sep 24, 2015 10:54 AM - danzca6: sore losers LOL
Sep 24, 2015 10:54 AM - danzca6: I know now that quantity wins over quality
    Sep 24, 2015 10:54 AM - danzca6: DOH!
Sep 24, 2015 10:54 AM - bamhm182: As the one who sat there creating them, I can guarantee we didn't just copy and paste
Sep 24, 2015 10:55 AM - danzca6: Just kidding Bam, glad to hear you were involved in the win
    Sep 24, 2015 10:55 AM - bamhm182: Thanks
Sep 24, 2015 10:56 AM - danzca6: smart thinking as well with getting the cheap refurb for the new R1+
    Sep 24, 2015 10:56 AM - danzca6: I wouldn't have thought of that
Sep 24, 2015 10:56 AM - bamhm182: That being said, I'm sure that lots of people had similar memes, because we hit a lot of the common issues people have.
Sep 24, 2015 10:57 AM - bamhm182: We originally came across this one for $300, but MAN was it in rough shape. At the very least, the bed was shattered and it was just a collection of parts
    Sep 24, 2015 10:58 AM - danzca6: probably would have counted, but ...
    Sep 24, 2015 10:58 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, I know if I were in Robo's shoes, I'd be a bit salty about that one
Sep 24, 2015 10:59 AM - daniel871: I was going to post this one until Bill got involved in posting memes. [IMG]
    Sep 24, 2015 10:59 AM - bamhm182: I'm not familiar with that meme
    Sep 24, 2015 11:00 AM - daniel871: Old Economy Steve
Sep 24, 2015 11:00 AM - danzca6: would that software have been MC
Sep 24, 2015 11:00 AM - daniel871: The actual phrase is something Bill has said here more than a few times. :p
    Sep 24, 2015 11:00 AM - danzca6: I have seen that at least once
Sep 24, 2015 11:01 AM - jbigler1986: he says that all of the time
Sep 24, 2015 11:01 AM - danzca6: I say the same thing about people issues. They keep wanting us to develop software in place of simple process improvement solutions
Sep 24, 2015 11:01 AM - daniel871: Old Economy Steve is a meme about the kinds of people always saying people just starting out in the US can get rich the same way they did and other similar things that don't really apply.
    Sep 24, 2015 11:01 AM - bamhm182: Now it makes more sense
Sep 24, 2015 11:01 AM - daniel871: Like working a full time job while going to college.
    Sep 24, 2015 11:03 AM - daniel871: They're usually a little more bitter though.
    Sep 24, 2015 11:03 AM - daniel871: Like this: [IMG]
    Sep 24, 2015 11:04 AM - bamhm182: Haha
    Sep 24, 2015 11:04 AM - Mike Glass: jb just change these lines. #define TEMP_SENSOR_0 0 #define TEMP_SENSOR_BED 0
Sep 24, 2015 11:05 AM - bamhm182: So now that I've got my benchy printing out, and I got the stepper driver values, is there anything anyone else wants me to do before I send this refurb back?
Sep 24, 2015 11:05 AM - daniel871: Print this and leave it on the bed. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:929970
    Sep 24, 2015 11:05 AM - daniel871: :p
    Sep 24, 2015 11:06 AM - bamhm182: [IMG][IMG]
    Sep 24, 2015 11:06 AM - bamhm182: I forgot to post those
Sep 24, 2015 11:06 AM - Mike Glass: I was thinking more like this one. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:23338
Sep 24, 2015 11:06 AM - bamhm182: It did a pretty bad job with the top layer, but I think I may have left it at 1
    Sep 24, 2015 11:06 AM - bamhm182: lol
Sep 24, 2015 11:07 AM - Mike Glass: yea I always go at least 3-4 layers on the top
    Sep 24, 2015 11:07 AM - jbigler1986: 5 is my sweet spot
Sep 24, 2015 11:07 AM - Mike Glass: really depends on the infill you have set though
    Sep 24, 2015 11:07 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Sep 24, 2015 11:07 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's at 1. I am printing the exact same model with the exact same settings over USB from S3D on my Mac Mini with OBS running just to make it fair
Sep 24, 2015 11:08 AM - bamhm182: My Robo did a much better job with the top layer, but it's still a little meh
Sep 24, 2015 11:09 AM - daniel871: I shouldn't have to worry about the enclosure mounting brackets going to hell printed in PLA should I?
    Sep 24, 2015 11:09 AM - daniel871: Or should I burn some PET+ or Blu-Print trying to print them?
    Sep 24, 2015 11:09 AM - danzca6: did you make them solid
    Sep 24, 2015 11:10 AM - bamhm182: I'd print them with 100% infil, but I don't think you'll have a problem.
Sep 24, 2015 11:10 AM - danzca6: yeah, unless you are rough as hell with things
Sep 24, 2015 11:10 AM - daniel871: I'm thinking more about the high moisture and temperature changes we get around here.
Sep 24, 2015 11:11 AM - danzca6: do you have yours in a garage of something?
Sep 24, 2015 11:11 AM - daniel871: Uninsulated shop environment. Insulation will be done when I can afford it all at once.
Sep 24, 2015 11:14 AM - bamhm182: By the way, for those that were on when I proposed this the other day. I got my GoPro back and began to see how it would fit onto the side of the carriage smooth rods. It will be a VERY tight fit, but I think it can be done if I do it right.
    Sep 24, 2015 11:16 AM - danzca6: the x-axis smooth rods?

Sep 24, 2015 11:16 AM - Mike Glass: haha Daniel, I just spent my insulation money..lol
Sep 24, 2015 11:16 AM - daniel871: Man, I wish it was this time tomorrow. I need next week off like you wouldn't believe.
Sep 24, 2015 11:16 AM - daniel871: How much did it run you way up there?
Sep 24, 2015 11:17 AM - Mike Glass: No I spent it, not on insulation
    Sep 24, 2015 11:17 AM - bamhm182: Sonova http://www.ebay.com/itm/Robo-3D-R1-...6065f9d&pid=100005&rk=1&rkt=1&sd=252101511664
Sep 24, 2015 11:17 AM - bamhm182: Could have gotten away with saving $100, oh well
    Sep 24, 2015 11:18 AM - danzca6: oh that's a pretty good deal
Sep 24, 2015 11:19 AM - danzca6: no heated bed I presume when it says PLA
    Sep 24, 2015 11:19 AM - Mike Glass: thats a KS model
    Sep 24, 2015 11:20 AM - bamhm182: Yeah
Sep 24, 2015 11:20 AM - jbigler1986: "The software is very intuitive and some of the best I have seen to date" lol
Sep 24, 2015 11:20 AM - Mike Glass: Printed was saying he had one for around there he was selling
Sep 24, 2015 11:20 AM - bamhm182: Just noticed that, don't know if they would have bitten since they said R1
    Sep 24, 2015 11:20 AM - danzca6: ouch...yeah that would have been a good trade then
    Sep 24, 2015 11:21 AM - Mike Glass: that is not a R1
    Sep 24, 2015 11:21 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, that MatterController, it's the best!
    Sep 24, 2015 11:21 AM - bamhm182: Exactly
Sep 24, 2015 11:21 AM - jbigler1986: probably not. since they would have had to replace the bed and hotend
Sep 24, 2015 11:21 AM - Mike Glass: JB did you see my message
Sep 24, 2015 11:21 AM - danzca6: had it all that time and only 25% of sample roll used
Sep 24, 2015 11:21 AM - bamhm182: I'm saying don't know if Robo would have been okay with the swap
    Sep 24, 2015 11:21 AM - jbigler1986: what message
Sep 24, 2015 11:21 AM - Mike Glass: about the temp settings
    Sep 24, 2015 11:22 AM - jbigler1986: no
Sep 24, 2015 11:22 AM - bamhm182: So I'm thinking about swapping the beds between this refurb and mine since mine has a chip in it
    Sep 24, 2015 11:22 AM - Mike Glass: #define TEMP_SENSOR_0 0 #define TEMP_SENSOR_BED 0
    Sep 24, 2015 11:22 AM - danzca6: take what you need
Sep 24, 2015 11:22 AM - bamhm182: The contest was to send yours back in exchange for a R1+plus, so they expected it to have been used
    Sep 24, 2015 11:23 AM - jbigler1986: that's what i thought MG
Sep 24, 2015 11:23 AM - danzca6: so your pics above are from the refurb Bam?
Sep 24, 2015 11:23 AM - Mike Kelly: Daniel I'm pretty sure he was just guessing. I'm fairly confident the arduino could handle looking for endstops
Sep 24, 2015 11:23 AM - Mike Glass: lets try it
    Sep 24, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: But I don't argue with walls
Sep 24, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: I tend to look for how instead of assuming something won't work
Sep 24, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Glass: guess I need to put the endstops back on the cnc
Sep 24, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Glass: Got some new endmill bits today, the look really good.
Sep 24, 2015 11:25 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, I'm currently printing out the one on my Robo, but I'll post comparisons when it is done, as well as when I get the R1+plus
Sep 24, 2015 11:25 AM - Mike Kelly: The ones from Amazon?
Sep 24, 2015 11:25 AM - danzca6: did the refurb have the couplers I take it
Sep 24, 2015 11:25 AM - Mike Glass: yeah, then Have some coming from drillman1 on ebay, the v groove bits.
Sep 24, 2015 11:26 AM - bamhm182: Anyways, gotta head to work. I'll see you all around
Sep 24, 2015 11:26 AM - Mike Glass: see ya bamham
    Sep 24, 2015 11:26 AM - danzca6: l8tr
    Sep 24, 2015 11:31 AM - daniel871: Whereabout were those lines MK?
    Sep 24, 2015 11:31 AM - daniel871: Also I posted in Waldo's thread about the motherboard names.
Sep 24, 2015 11:32 AM - daniel871: Upshot is the updated Marlin uses different names for the motherboards than a simple number.
    Sep 24, 2015 11:32 AM - daniel871: So Motherboard 34 is now BOARD_RAMPS_13_EEB
Sep 24, 2015 11:33 AM - daniel871: Also the extruder offsets are directly below where you specify the number of extruders instead of way down configuration.h like they used to be.
Sep 24, 2015 11:34 AM - Mike Glass: thats crazy putting them that close
    Sep 24, 2015 11:35 AM - daniel871: ?
Sep 24, 2015 11:36 AM - Mike Glass: buck convertor is here Don, looks like its a gooooooo.
Sep 24, 2015 11:42 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, I think MK is still on Marlin 1.0.0
Sep 24, 2015 11:43 AM - WheresWaldo: Or some personal modification of 1.0.0
Sep 24, 2015 11:43 AM - daniel871: Yeah, I'm not finding the bit about the endstops he was talking about anywhere in configuration.h
Sep 24, 2015 11:44 AM - daniel871: As far as enabling an estop function if they're triggered.
Sep 24, 2015 11:44 AM - WheresWaldo: What was he saying about endstops?
Sep 24, 2015 11:44 AM - daniel871: He pasted this: // Enable the option to stop SD printing when hitting and endstops, needs to be enabled from the LCD menu when this option is enabled. //#define ABORT_ON_ENDSTOP_HIT_FEATURE_ENABLED
    Sep 24, 2015 11:44 AM - daniel871: But didn't say where it was located.
Sep 24, 2015 11:45 AM - danzca6: hmmm, thingiverse had some layout changes. has a section now for print settings. They even have what you modeled it in. Not much, but a nice update.
Sep 24, 2015 11:46 AM - daniel871: Oh, I'm still using the old version of Marlin as well. Just fine-tuning the newer version of Marlin variables as I find things to adjust in the original before I switch over.
Sep 24, 2015 11:47 AM - daniel871: I know that seems like a lot of work but so far there really hasn't been too drastic a change in terms of the actual variables that change except for the Z axis steps and the name of the motherboard.
Sep 24, 2015 11:48 AM - NFOsec: freak show on the dance floor.
    Sep 24, 2015 11:48 AM - WheresWaldo: Its in Configuration_adv.h
Sep 24, 2015 11:48 AM - daniel871: Z axis because of the lead screws rather than the firmware though.
    Sep 24, 2015 11:49 AM - WheresWaldo: Then it is tested in Marlin_Main.cpp, stepper.cpp, stepper.h and ultralcd.cpp
Sep 24, 2015 11:50 AM - WheresWaldo: That define is still in 1.1.0
Sep 24, 2015 11:51 AM - daniel871: Looks like it needs an LCD to be activated.
    Sep 24, 2015 11:52 AM - Mike Kelly: correct, configuration_adv
Sep 24, 2015 11:52 AM - WheresWaldo: Not sure look at line 2682 something in Marlin_main.cpp
Sep 24, 2015 11:54 AM - WheresWaldo: Dang, Notepad++ lets me search within a directory, but won't let me open the file I want from the search results.
Sep 24, 2015 11:54 AM - NFOsec: no right clickie?
Sep 24, 2015 11:55 AM - WheresWaldo: I can open all files, not just a single file.
    Sep 24, 2015 11:56 AM - WheresWaldo: Not in 2682, moving on.
Sep 24, 2015 11:56 AM - Mike Kelly: i know someone who was able to get extruder 2 controls working on the LCD, but he never gave me his source code and now i can't get ahold of him
Sep 24, 2015 11:57 AM - jbigler1986: i would like that as well. sucks that you can only heat extruder 2
    Sep 24, 2015 11:57 AM - daniel871: Um.
Sep 24, 2015 11:58 AM - daniel871: With the LCD working I could independently heat either extruder with the Control > Temperature menu
    Sep 24, 2015 11:58 AM - Mike Kelly: yes i know
Sep 24, 2015 11:58 AM - WheresWaldo: Did you try this in 1.1.0?
    Sep 24, 2015 11:58 AM - Mike Kelly: i need manual controls
Sep 24, 2015 11:58 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm not ready to update to 1.1
    Sep 24, 2015 11:59 AM - daniel871: This was in 1.0
    Sep 24, 2015 11:59 AM - WheresWaldo: Fair enough.
Sep 24, 2015 11:59 AM - jbigler1986: yeah being able to extrude 2nd extruder with lcd is what we want
Sep 24, 2015 12:00 PM - WheresWaldo: There is a lot of stuff not working in 1.0.0, so you may not have a choice, unless the guy who got it working was nice enough to fork on GITHUB.
    Sep 24, 2015 12:00 PM - janot928: yo guys
Sep 24, 2015 12:00 PM - Mike Kelly: just emailed the guy i was working with before to see if he still has the source
Sep 24, 2015 12:01 PM - janot928: mike if i tell you thermistor what is the first thing that comme to your mind?
Sep 24, 2015 12:01 PM - Mike Kelly: NTC resistor
Sep 24, 2015 12:02 PM - janot928: for me it refers to a pain in the ass
Sep 24, 2015 12:02 PM - daniel871: Not Mike, but lots of frustration and getting aggravated with leads that won't stay under a washer.
    Sep 24, 2015 12:02 PM - Mike Kelly: heh
    Sep 24, 2015 12:02 PM - daniel871: Get the M3 stud thermistor and call it a day.
Sep 24, 2015 12:02 PM - Mike Kelly: i've gone through my fair share of thermistors
Sep 24, 2015 12:03 PM - Mike Kelly: tiny little things
Sep 24, 2015 12:03 PM - janot928: for the last two weeks my printer is out of order
    Sep 24, 2015 12:03 PM - janot928: due to thermistor error
    Sep 24, 2015 12:03 PM - jbigler1986: what hotend?
    Sep 24, 2015 12:03 PM - janot928: E3D V6
Sep 24, 2015 12:03 PM - Mike Kelly: http://shop.re3d.org/collections/replacement-parts/products/thermocouple at some point i'm gonna upgrade to these

Sep 24, 2015 12:04 PM - Mike Kelly: maybe once i go back to cyclops
Sep 24, 2015 12:04 PM - jbigler1986: loosen the screw holding the thermistor in place
    Sep 24, 2015 12:04 PM - daniel871: What? No PT-100 sensor?
Sep 24, 2015 12:04 PM - jbigler1986: i got errors when it was to tight. it was shorting it
Sep 24, 2015 12:04 PM - Mike Kelly: maybe if pt100 was a screw in
    Sep 24, 2015 12:04 PM - Mike Kelly: but it's not
    Sep 24, 2015 12:04 PM - janot928: i'm gonna try that
Sep 24, 2015 12:04 PM - Mike Kelly: you need a thermocouple board though
Sep 24, 2015 12:04 PM - Mike Kelly: not plug and play
    Sep 24, 2015 12:05 PM - daniel871: Give him a link to PrintedSolid's screw in thermistor
Sep 24, 2015 12:05 PM - jbigler1986: don't buy it from amazon. mine failed after like 3 days
    Sep 24, 2015 12:05 PM - janot928: i've contacted him already about that
    Sep 24, 2015 12:05 PM - jbigler1986: got new thermistors coming today
Sep 24, 2015 12:05 PM - janot928: but the prob is that i live in europe
    Sep 24, 2015 12:06 PM - janot928: and i cannot find this in any website i know
    Sep 24, 2015 12:06 PM - Mike Kelly: e3d
    Sep 24, 2015 12:06 PM - daniel871: E3D-online then.
    Sep 24, 2015 12:06 PM - daniel871: Hang on.
Sep 24, 2015 12:06 PM - Mike Kelly: though they also don't see the screw in terminals for the thermocouple
Sep 24, 2015 12:06 PM - NFOsec: WW: btw, if you double click on the search line results it would open JUST that result, not sure why you think you have to open all...
    Sep 24, 2015 12:06 PM - Mike Kelly: http://e3d-online.com/Electrical/Components/External-Thermocouple-Board-v1.0
Sep 24, 2015 12:07 PM - NFOsec: MG, you around?
    Sep 24, 2015 12:07 PM - jbigler1986: he ran away
    Sep 24, 2015 12:07 PM - NFOsec: nope. figures.
Sep 24, 2015 12:07 PM - NFOsec: was going to mention I finished 3 sets of 60 plates for the Cronixie.
Sep 24, 2015 12:08 PM - NFOsec: don't quite have the base figured out yet, but probably the least of my concerns.
Sep 24, 2015 12:08 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm maybe i should look into the newest marlin
Sep 24, 2015 12:08 PM - Mike Kelly: might have the options i'm looking for
    Sep 24, 2015 12:08 PM - Mike Kelly: i really wish marlin would implement a "
Sep 24, 2015 12:08 PM - NFOsec: MK: everything Hairy and WW were chatting baout before said you should go with 1.1.1.1.1.1.1
Sep 24, 2015 12:08 PM - Mike Kelly: "Shut off heaters after 5 minutes of inactivity"
Sep 24, 2015 12:09 PM - Mike Kelly: like the replicator can do
Sep 24, 2015 12:09 PM - NFOsec: that was wee-hours early this mroning.
    Sep 24, 2015 12:09 PM - jbigler1986: 1.1.1.1.1.1.1.6.4
Sep 24, 2015 12:09 PM - NFOsec: you can code in that.
    Sep 24, 2015 12:09 PM - NFOsec: jbig: I stand corrected.
    Sep 24, 2015 12:09 PM - janot928: wonce i get my printer working i'll try printing at 0.025mm
Sep 24, 2015 12:09 PM - Mike Glass: im back
Sep 24, 2015 12:09 PM - janot928: has anny of you tried that?
    Sep 24, 2015 12:09 PM - NFOsec: shit, I'm audi.
Sep 24, 2015 12:11 PM - Mike Glass: you did 180 pieces so far?
Sep 24, 2015 12:11 PM - NFOsec: yeah, needed 1 set of 60 plates 10 per line, finished all 3 sets.
Sep 24, 2015 12:11 PM - NFOsec: took about 2.5 hours in between things, but very crisp.
    Sep 24, 2015 12:11 PM - janot928: link to that ?
Sep 24, 2015 12:12 PM - Mike Glass: Do i need something to hold things off the metal bed?
Sep 24, 2015 12:12 PM - NFOsec: janot: haven't taken pictures since the ones from this morning.
    Sep 24, 2015 12:13 PM - janot928: @NFOsec where can i find those ?
Sep 24, 2015 12:13 PM - NFOsec: well, you can in theory as they claim go directly on the bed, but you know the routine, go on the bed and it'll reflect underneath. I did mention to you I picked up like a $50 honeycomb table from ebay. I've also used triangle trivets out of metal amongst things.
Sep 24, 2015 12:14 PM - Mike Glass: would a light grid work?
Sep 24, 2015 12:14 PM - NFOsec: I REALLY wanted to get some aluminum egg-crate (the kind of things you see over flourescent bulbs in buildings) as they are very cheap consumables.
Sep 24, 2015 12:14 PM - NFOsec: yeah, was just saying that Mike. I couldn't source any around here, some people justh appen to live in areas where they are laying around in their back yards.
Sep 24, 2015 12:14 PM - Mike Glass: like the ones on floresent fixtures
    Sep 24, 2015 12:14 PM - NFOsec: yeah.
Sep 24, 2015 12:15 PM - Mike Glass: I will check lowes tonight when im there
Sep 24, 2015 12:15 PM - NFOsec: it's called egg crate and has to be alum or some composite metal, if it's plastic, burn baby burn.
    Sep 24, 2015 12:15 PM - NFOsec: it's not common around here.
Sep 24, 2015 12:15 PM - NFOsec: our lowes are someone else's highs.
Sep 24, 2015 12:15 PM - Mike Glass: they are metal? thought it was plastic
Sep 24, 2015 12:15 PM - NFOsec: janot: find those...?
Sep 24, 2015 12:16 PM - NFOsec: they are aluminum.
    Sep 24, 2015 12:16 PM - jbigler1986: we are all spoiled really
Sep 24, 2015 12:16 PM - NFOsec: most people never realized that there are 2 types. the alum is what you want.
Sep 24, 2015 12:16 PM - NFOsec: you want to laser through a plastic support?
Sep 24, 2015 12:16 PM - janot928: btw do you have ever have this problem where everything warms up perfectly but once the print start (sometimes even during the G28 and G29)
    Sep 24, 2015 12:16 PM - janot928: the temperature drops
Sep 24, 2015 12:17 PM - NFOsec: I've done it. I admittedly f'd up one day and used a plastic trivet because I got lazy, it caught on fire. damn.
    Sep 24, 2015 12:17 PM - janot928: and the print failed
    Sep 24, 2015 12:17 PM - janot928: fail*
Sep 24, 2015 12:17 PM - NFOsec: janot: yeah, happens, you probably don't want that setting on that says wait for temperature to stabilize.
    Sep 24, 2015 12:18 PM - janot928: ok.... i'll try that
Sep 24, 2015 12:18 PM - NFOsec: and make sure the parts fan isn't running.
    Sep 24, 2015 12:18 PM - janot928: anything else ?
Sep 24, 2015 12:18 PM - NFOsec: at least not in the beginning, middle, or end from what I've heard. :)
Sep 24, 2015 12:18 PM - NFOsec: one thing at a time, you'll never master it grasshopper.
Sep 24, 2015 12:20 PM - NFOsec: MG: you can always email me with contact addy for sending the plates.
Sep 24, 2015 12:20 PM - NFOsec: MK as well since those were the only two I promised to do. :)
Sep 24, 2015 12:21 PM - janot928: could it have anything to do with the thermistor in itself
Sep 24, 2015 12:22 PM - jbigler1986: doubtful if it heats up and reads fine during warming up
Sep 24, 2015 12:23 PM - Mike Kelly: most likely it's the parts fan
    Sep 24, 2015 12:23 PM - janot928: what do you mean?
Sep 24, 2015 12:23 PM - Mike Kelly: make sure the thermistor is well seated in the hole and pressed against the metal
Sep 24, 2015 12:23 PM - Mike Kelly: wrap it in kapton tape
Sep 24, 2015 12:23 PM - Mike Kelly: then put the boot back on
Sep 24, 2015 12:23 PM - Mike Kelly: i haven't had any issues with mine after doing that
Sep 24, 2015 12:24 PM - Mike Kelly: man i guess i should go back to work
Sep 24, 2015 12:24 PM - janot928: i don't have kapton tape but i'll try that until my screw in thermistor comes
    Sep 24, 2015 12:24 PM - Mike Kelly: it's worth buying
Sep 24, 2015 12:25 PM - Mike Kelly: i don't like the idea of limiting my max temp to 260 for those screw ins
    Sep 24, 2015 12:25 PM - janot928: 280 for this one
Sep 24, 2015 12:25 PM - NFOsec: the post/screw thermister work with the stock R1+ heat block?
Sep 24, 2015 12:25 PM - Mike Glass: NFO, I would have to have your email first. :)
Sep 24, 2015 12:25 PM - janot928: and even for the 260 they only say that 260 is for a limit for long time print
Sep 24, 2015 12:26 PM - NFOsec: MG: I know that, said I'll get you the info.
    Sep 24, 2015 12:26 PM - janot928: not for a short periode
    Sep 24, 2015 12:26 PM - Mike Glass: lol
    Sep 24, 2015 12:26 PM - Mike Kelly: 280? nice
Sep 24, 2015 12:26 PM - Mike Kelly: you gotta tap the heater block for the hex though
Sep 24, 2015 12:27 PM - janot928: well except on flexible filament i do not need more than 280
    Sep 24, 2015 12:28 PM - janot928: i'm on the e3d
    Sep 24, 2015 12:29 PM - danzca6: new versions are now 280
