My nozzle has a pla everywhere. In and outside and even the threads are dirty. Would letting the nozzle soak in a small bowl of acetone do any damage to the standard nozzle that came with my e3d v6.

Acetone won't do anything for PLA. You are better off getting a torch and burning all the PLA off the nozzle, if you must clean it. I find it better to just toss them and replace with a new one

    Chinese Link 5 for $7.75
    Amazon Link 5 for $7.99

If you want genuine E3D nozzles get them from Matt @ printedsolid.com

PS: It won't damage the nozzle to soak it, it is just that it won't clean off the PLA either.

Yes, torch it (with only MAP or Propane, no oxygen) or back it at 450/500 F or so for a bit (just the nozzle).

Likewise I usually toss them since nozzles are
    1) wear items
    2) cheap

I've been printing for just over a year now. My first nozzle I spent FAR TOO MUCH TIME trying to clean it out.
I've since purchased a couple of packs of nozzles from Amazon and have tossed 2 already rather than spend ANY time trying to recover them.

They are a CONSUMABLE part in my opinion.

I also have a small butane hand torch (not a flashlight you brits) that comes in really hand for MINOR clogs. If it doesn't fix it in a couple of minutes, it gets replaced and tossed.
