OK, I am ready to get an R1. I have been looking for a good deal.
Amazon offered free shipping and a 30 day return period if it didn't work.
I went to order and saw a $20 shipping charge, but a $20 credit, but
then I saw a $48 tax!!! I live in Md and they didn't charge me tax before so I didn't complete the order.

I checked on the Robo site and they flashed a notice for a credit of ,I think it was $35, but it disappeared before I could catch the code. I think I will check back with them.
Anyone know of a good deal? Frank

I guess I was lucky enough to buy mine on Amazon when it had prime or something. Amazon has recently started charging tax on more and more states. they're up to 23 now. It's apparently because they have a physical presence in the states and are required to charge tax if they do.

I did a little looking and wasn't really able to find any current deals, but maybe someone else can shed some light. At any rate, even if you bought it on Amazon for the $870 or so you'd end up paying, it's totally worth it.

The thing that got me was the tax was higher than MD tax.
I just noticed that Printed Solid is a re seller. I just sent him an E Mail. He is in northern DE, ( no sales tax) and I am in NE MD.
A short drive. Maybe I can come out OK on this one yet. Frank

I forgot he sold them. Great website, super fast shipping, reasonable prices, great customer support. Most of us don't have a single bad thing to say about him. The ONLY reason I don't buy more from him is because I'm a total cheapskate and can get PLA on Amazon that's a lower quality than the filament he sells at a lower price.

In this economy cheapskake=survivor. We don't buy what we want, only what we need. Luxery is reserved for the Buffets. Frank

Yup printed solid is a great guy and he'll help you set it up even. Gotta pick it up as you said but it sounds like you're close enough to make the drive.

Yea, he gave me a good deal. We just have to set the pickup date. Under a hundred miles round trip. A drop in the bucket. When I head out west for some prospecting, or a cache hunt, I can put 600 miles a day on the interstate. Frank

It was a lightning deal on Amazon. I had to set an alarm to make sure I didn't forget.

Well The deal is set with Printed Solid. I pick it up tomorrow. He gave me a good deal and is meeting me half way to pick it up.
If you don't see my babbling on here for a while, you know I either can't stop printing, or I haven't got it going. I am getting the screen and new v6 extruder to add to it. It was a package deal. I have been working on a toy design in Sketch up. I just converted it to a STL. I have to make a test model to get it balanced. If it works, it's off to the patten lawyer. I am going for the next hoola hoop! lol Frank

Amazon does not have the right to charge taxes.. only your government does.
they may act as an intermediary between you and them.

Amazon is the only way to go.

Alright, so they started acting as an intermediary in more states recently. Haha.

So how're you liking your Robo3D, Frank?

Yes, that is exactly right. They are the collector in this case for more states.

I should mention that every state expects you to pay the tax even if Amazon is not collecting it. You have been writing them a check every year for all your uncollected online sales, right? ;)
