Yea, that is slipping/skipping (badly). Belt or other drive components need investigating.

Disconnected the belt, checked the stepper motor, x axis bearings shot, very sticky.

Man, those should not be dead by now.
I might have lubed mine, once (since Oct. of 2013).

    That's crazy.

Time to submit a replacement part request I think. Have you been using hairspray?

Glue stick FTW. I don't know if its the cause but I always thought it was a bad idea to spray a sticky aerosol into something with a bunch of moving parts.

Mike, I use hairspray or glue stick, but have a box that I put on the bed to protect everything. It seemed stiff when I got it but was hard to tell with the stepper motor and belt attached. How many hours before you should re-grease, and what is the best for the smooth and threaded rods?

Lithium lube is good. How often... not sure. I have not had mine get sticky.

and unless you get sloppy with it, the hairspray is not your culprit :)

Ideally you should never need to lubricate a bearing. Something like sewing machine oil is a good option, but a good bearing should theoretically never need it. Oil tends to collect gunk and such.

Definitely could be a bad bearing.

Oh man I hate plastic wrap. That stuff is gone IMMEDIATELY.

Drives me crazy when I see something using a device that has that protective film on it. Just wanna pick it off.

Support should be close to catching up. They had a backlog from CES.

I had to give them a call. Once I got some one on the phone the new Y axis end plate showed up in the mail a week later.
