I get to buy a new hot section for my E3d.

I was trying to print six hollow parts. I printed a single hollow and was ok with the results. When I set up the print w/6, one of the parts - due to whatever imperfections in the print - separated.

My fault entirely but it's a good lesson. You might get one good one - but if you change the mix, you should monitor the entire way through.

I think I was out of the room for 45 minutes. It might have failed the second I walked out.

Eh I've had worse failures than that and my hot ends are still kicking :)

I would bet that potentially you could have twice as nasty a failure (if you worked at it).

(you do have twice the extruders)

I was looking at it and I might be able to grind off the excess plastic. I'm thinking about covering the entire hot end in Kapton or high temp silicon tape now. I've seen lots of photos of people doing it. I think I now know why....LOL

I had a nice one where my hbp kicked off during a print. Came back to an interesting ball of HIPS and ABS stuck to the extruders.

I just heat mine up and brush it off with a brass bristle brush. Some people cure their hot ends with a high temp oil like avocado to resist plastics tendency to stick.

I found with kapton the plastic just got stuck under the tape and made it look nasty.

Good suggestions. I'll try the bristle brush. Thanks.

I never leave the room (maybe for just a few minutes) I'm always watching the printer during printing..

example today: while printing i noticed the filament spool was wound incorrectly... to where the filament couldn't unwind. If i had walked away . It would have messed up my prints for sure causing filament starvation etc......
