bought the xxl lcd screen that everyone raves about.
Plugged it in and this is all I get.
Tried googling for advice or support options but can't find anything.
    Original robo pla + abs
    No other upgrades/changes.

Which version of the firmware are you using?

Also the contrast is way too high. There is a potentiometer to adjust the contrast on the XXL LCD board.

mine looks like that if the wires are plugged in the wrong sides. I assume its the same arduino screen as any other.. has 2 ribbon cables?

Yeah, I played with the contast straight away.
I tried un plugging and connecting the ribbon cables again.
Original firmware. Never updated. Was going to re flash but if I didn't have to...
I'll add a photo of the cables the way the unit came for people to compare but I'm sure they are around the right way as I have read about other people reversing the cables and their screen did not light up at all.

I think the firmware was update with XXL control in like October 2013. If it's older than that it might not work.

Otherwise it seems like 1 is plugged into 2 and visa versa

well it doesnt hurt to switch them and try.
I'm printing and cant lift it right now.. but feels like.. left cable (while facing the screen) goes to the connection closest the robo sign.

which looks to be the opposite of yours.. if I'm seeing correctly... and flipping my point of view correctly.

Looks the same as in printed solids how to video. So I'll try the firmware flash first.

The plug and lcd both have numbers on it. Make sure they match.

Tried the cables labels, both plugged in properly.
Reversed them anyway, didn't fix it.
Tried flashing the new firmware. Didn't fix it. Then on the third, um, reboot? ( turning the printer off and on) Screen started working and Looks great.
Thanks all for the help and advice.
