I was able to print for a while pretty fine. I then took a break, and when i tried printing using repetier host, it appears the z off set is off. I haven't made any changes to it, and I tried using matter control, and it seems fine. I have an older R1 with no bed leveling. I couldn't really find how to change the offset in repetier and make it work. Can someone link me or explain how to fix this. Also if you know how to level a bed in repetier i would love to know (I leveled in mattercontrol and it seemed to carry over to repetier)

Z offset is part of the start up gcode, likely when you switched to Repetier-Host the requisite M565 line in the start up code was not there.

If you don't have bed leveling don't use an offset. Are you sure you don't have bed leveling?
