I am at a dead stop now.... for the last hour I have been trying to update the firmware. I load Arduino making sure the robo is connected to my PC ... shows as COM Port 12. I made the firmware changes.... uploaded got a "Done Uploading" but every time I try a M503 in Octoprint it has the old steps per MM value of 723.38 and I just ran the test again and sure enough it ended at the same position as the first test so I am not sure why the firmware is not updating... not sure what to do.....

Still baffled why the firmware update and then the M503 through Octoprint didn't work but now I realize I can change this via the XXL Smart Controller... I have ran the test about 4 times and arrived at 847 for the value.

I am going to re-run the test prints now.

Since EEPROM saving is being used, every time you upload new firmware you must do a M502 (read values from firmware into memory) followed by an M500 (save memory to EEPROM) or else you will be stuck with the old values. Also if you ran the test 10 times I am hoping that 847 was an average of all tests and not just the last one. Then reset the value in the firmware and re-upload, again remember to do the M502 and M500.

That explains it.. but I will say when I tried a M500 in Octoprint it just timed out.

Looks like you did the math correctly and surprisingly your steps are much closer to the standard configuration that I have ever seen :)
    Lucky I guess.

Yes, you should update the firmware and then run the test again. It should be spot on or really close.

Looking at your DePrime test I don't see anything to complain about. That model is tough to print correctly on all aspects, but that one looks pretty darn good.

Lol right ! Talk about a pain since I was timid to post thinking I was just doing it wrong way back then lol

Edit: probably still doing it wrong, just not as timid these days ;)

Honestly, I find this really hard to believe unless you are using a different (non-default) gear set.
