    Apr 12, 2017 6:19 AM - Schlomo: Morning everyone
Apr 12, 2017 6:19 AM - Schlomo: I believe my snail mail from China is being delivered today. Should be able to put the final touches (minus the bed thermistor which i forgot) on my new CoreXY printer i've been building

Apr 13, 2017 11:37 PM - wksjim: when verifying the fermware in the Arduino software i get a error can anyone help with this??
    Apr 13, 2017 11:38 PM - wksjim: the error is Arduino: 1.8.2 (Windows 7), Board: "Arduino/Genuino Mega or Mega 2560, ATmega2560 (Mega 2560)" In file included from sketch\SdFile.h:27:0, from sketch\cardreader.h:8, from sketch\Marlin_main.cpp:44: SdBaseFile.h:38: error: using typedef-name 'fpos_t' after 'struct' struct fpos_t { ^ In file included from sketch\Marlin.h:10:0, from sketch\Marlin_main.cpp:30: c:\pro
Apr 14, 2017 6:42 AM - WheresWaldo: A search of the board (use google to search this site) will find you that answer to this question. It has been asked and answered many many times. We all wish Robo would just fix this permanently but it is not like they really care about the error you are seeing.
Apr 14, 2017 7:43 AM - Schlomo: Anyone know of a print server similar to Octopi that can facilitate 2 printers at once?
    Apr 14, 2017 9:35 AM - mark tomlinson: No.
    Apr 14, 2017 9:35 AM - mark tomlinson: http://blog.patshead.com/2016/02/co...ing-a-single-raspberry-pi-with-octoprint.html
Apr 14, 2017 3:00 PM - DonW: Just getting started with my r1 plus (stock no mods), when printing replacement parts what material should i use?
Apr 14, 2017 5:26 PM - Geof: What parts? Most can be pla just fine. Around the extruder I use ngen, xt, ht or Petg. Caution those materials can chip your glass

Apr 14, 2017 at 9:29 PM - DonW: is there any recommendation on spare parts to have on hand?
Apr 15, 2017 at 6:13 AM - Geof: I stock everythingm. Start a thread and get everones opinion, ill give better details as well to my recomendations
Apr 15, 2017 at 12:06 PM - Bill Monroe: Nozzles, heater and thermistor.. anything else might never break but if they do, get a replacement when you need it.. stocking everything is just tying up money in stuff you may never use.

Apr 17, 2017 5:52 AM - daniel871: You would be better served to buy a Monoprice Maker Select Mini and have it in reserve to print any parts on the Robo that break.
Apr 17, 2017 9:28 AM - daniel871: Or maybe keep an eye out on Wish.com for something like what happened yesterday.
    Apr 17, 2017 9:28 AM - daniel871: http://createbot.net/newsdetail/13.html
    Apr 17, 2017 9:29 AM - daniel871: https://www.wish.com/c/58b960278ecd5771acc0ebc7
    Apr 17, 2017 9:30 AM - daniel871: I missed it, but a 3d printer for <$50 with those specs is hilarious.
Apr 17, 2017 10:36 AM - Geof: yea me and Danz got 2 each lol. My boss got one. Createbot is throwing a fit about it
Apr 17, 2017 10:36 AM - Geof: but we will see if they ship. I think I'm like 70 with shipping into 2 of them lol
    Apr 17, 2017 10:42 AM - daniel871: Probably a lost shipping container or something.
    Apr 17, 2017 10:42 AM - daniel871: It *was* a tiny build area though. 80-something x 80 something by 70 something.
Apr 17, 2017 10:44 AM - Geof: yea iddy biddy the whole machine weights under 3 kg lol
Apr 17, 2017 10:51 AM - daniel871: If it is fairly quiet while running it'd be a neat toy to have running at the office.
Apr 17, 2017 10:52 AM - daniel871: Anyone else get the Makergeeks announcement today?
Apr 17, 2017 10:58 AM - Geof: I figure for the money I'm not out anything lol. What announcemenet?
Apr 17, 2017 12:33 PM - daniel871: Moving their shop over to Shopify for better inventory tracking/etc.
Apr 17, 2017 12:34 PM - daniel871: My biggest gripe with Makergeeks has been when they'd put up a really good sale and get slammed with backorders.
Apr 17, 2017 12:34 PM - daniel871: Sometimes getting your order lost in the shuffle until you reached out to them. Having Shopify manage the ordering process will make it harder for that to happen.

Apr 18, 2017 5:01 AM - JeffTheMess: good to be back on morning shift
Apr 18, 2017 9:12 AM - Schlomo: Anyone else currently using a dual extruder on a printer? not specifically Robo
Apr 18, 2017 9:56 AM - daniel871: Someone around here has one of those BCM Sigma printers, but I don't recall who.
Apr 18, 2017 10:23 AM - toymaker: anyone here good at making gears? ie gt2 5mm pitch with a diameter of around 190-200mm
    Apr 18, 2017 10:25 AM - toymaker: is the r2 worth getting?
Apr 18, 2017 10:30 AM - daniel871: Not in my opinion, for the price tag.
    Apr 18, 2017 10:40 AM - daniel871: For $1,500 you could get an MK2 and a Monoprice "Ultimate" 3d printer.
Apr 18, 2017 10:48 AM - toymaker: its for a school the principal has about 1200 and owuld like 2 printers if possible
    Apr 18, 2017 10:58 AM - daniel871: $1,200?
    Apr 18, 2017 10:59 AM - daniel871: 4x this: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=15711
Apr 18, 2017 10:59 AM - daniel871: Full year replacement warranty if parts break or it otherwise fails, plus the kids will learn more on that.
    Apr 18, 2017 11:00 AM - daniel871: Or 6x this: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=15365
Apr 18, 2017 11:00 AM - daniel871: That particular one can get a firmware update that allows you to connect it to your Wifi network, have Windows 10 recognize it and support streaming Gcode to the SD card over wifi.
Apr 18, 2017 11:01 AM - daniel871: It sacrifices a little bit of build space for the extra electronic features.
    Apr 18, 2017 11:18 AM - danzca6: I see talk about MakerGeeks last night...they announced a 20% discount on everything through 4/24 using a code on their site GOGO20
Apr 18, 2017 12:28 PM - daniel871: Good chance to stock up on random colors of PETG.
Apr 18, 2017 3:34 PM - Geof: Ive got the sigma. Nice machine. Dual extruder on that and the robo
Apr 18, 2017 4:44 PM - Schlomo: That moment when you finally realize why you've been having so many extrusion problems.... Printed a new extruder based on the MK7 drive gears. Previous one used MK8....

Apr 18, 2017 9:05 PM - toymaker: ever sense i swithced to v6 (with thermal paste) & bondtech ive had zero extrusion problems in over 1000's of hours
Apr 19, 2017 4:40 AM - wksjim: when useing simplify3d the hotend goes cold after auto bed leveling but everything seems to work in mattercontroll anyone know what may be causing this??
Apr 19, 2017 7:53 AM - WheresWaldo: Check your startup gCode in the scripts tab. Make sure there are no temperature commands in it.
Apr 19, 2017 7:53 AM - WheresWaldo: In the termperature tab make sure you have the stabilization box checked.
    Apr 19, 2017 10:07 AM - Schlomo: Anyone online?
Apr 19, 2017 10:45 AM - toymaker: sure...im tryn to figure out how to make a gt2 gear with 5mm pitch
    Apr 19, 2017 11:00 AM - daniel871: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:16627
Apr 19, 2017 11:34 AM - toymaker: i saw that a few days ago but ive never used openscad before... time to give it a try
Apr 19, 2017 11:44 AM - toymaker: nice, daniel worked like a champ so far.. openscad is pretty interesting, im gonna print a test gear to see how it fits my belt
    Apr 19, 2017 11:45 AM - toymaker: btw i got 1100mm belt x 16 width gt3 5m pitch for 23$ including shipping
Apr 19, 2017 11:46 AM - toymaker: from my understanding gt3 is just a stronger version of gt2 belts
Apr 19, 2017 12:28 PM - Schlomo: Has anyone else had the problem where you start a >20 hour print and it just stops randomly within the first 10 hours or so? Printing over SD card
Apr 19, 2017 1:25 PM - Kelly Meeks: Does the R1 come with an all metal hotend, or do you have to occasionally change out a PTFE insert?
    Apr 19, 2017 1:25 PM - WheresWaldo: All metal
Apr 19, 2017 1:27 PM - Kelly Meeks: Ok, thank you! I saw a youtube video from robo that showed replacing ptfe in the hotend, but my setup look different when I took mine apart.
Apr 19, 2017 1:29 PM - Kelly Meeks: Getting stringy prints, I'll try cleaning out/replacing the nozzle again.
Apr 19, 2017 1:45 PM - daniel871: @Schlomo, the only reasons I've had for prints to stop like that have either been a bad sector in the SD card or a power fluctuation. The first was solved by re-slicing and saving to a different card and the latter by having a UPS.
    Apr 19, 2017 1:45 PM - daniel871: @Kelly Meeks, do you have a link to that video?
Apr 19, 2017 5:15 PM - Schlomo: Thanks for the info Dan. It is a work printer, and i've got it on a UPS already, so it must have been the SD card. I"ll try another.

    Apr 20, 2017 6:10 AM - JeffTheMess: morning roboneers
Apr 20, 2017 8:35 AM - toymaker: https://tools3d.azurewebsites.net/ down for everyone or just me?
    Apr 20, 2017 8:42 AM - WheresWaldo: Up now
Apr 20, 2017 8:44 AM - toymaker: not for me ... just keeps spinnign in repair
Apr 20, 2017 8:46 AM - toymaker: did u actually try to repair a stl?
Apr 20, 2017 9:36 AM - WheresWaldo: Backend servers must be down, stuck in queue.
    Apr 20, 2017 9:55 AM - toymaker: i was using the 3dtools...azure.
Apr 20, 2017 9:55 AM - toymaker: tried the netfabb one at azurewebsites and it works
Apr 20, 2017 9:58 AM - toymaker: i go throught about 2 rolls of filament a week.... so i have about 100 hundred some old spools , i wonder if i can sell them back to hatchbx lol
Apr 20, 2017 10:21 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: repurpose them like people have been doing on thingiverse
Apr 20, 2017 11:20 AM - daniel871: 3d print Semiflex tires, mount them on the spools and build an epic Open RC car scaled up to use them.
Apr 20, 2017 12:18 PM - danzca6: Got confirmation that my 2 Createbot super mini printers have shipped from wish.com...I'll be really surprised if these $30 printers make it and work
    Apr 20, 2017 12:24 PM - toymaker: i thought about making some kind of rediculous pulley with a 4' 8 ' plywood
Apr 20, 2017 1:03 PM - daniel871: I'm a little jealous about that Createbot deal, danzca6. If it was a fairly quiet machine I'd set it up on top of my desk at work and have it printing random tchotchkes while I work.
Apr 20, 2017 2:55 PM - danzca6: Not getting my hopes up too high...I'm just surprised I didn't get an email saying they were refunding everyone.
Apr 20, 2017 4:19 PM - Ryan TeGantvoort: hey! so I am printing some parts that need to be bolted to a piece of aluminum I machined, any thoughts/ideas?
Apr 20, 2017 4:21 PM - Ryan TeGantvoort: Tried creating the hole and tapping it but the bolt is stretching the plastic when inserted
Apr 20, 2017 4:36 PM - Ryan TeGantvoort: gonna try it again, adjusted a few settings in S3D hope they help!
Apr 20, 2017 4:43 PM - Ryan TeGantvoort: or is anyone using HEAT-SET THREADED INSERTS? Seem like the best option honestly
Apr 20, 2017 4:58 PM - WheresWaldo: Ryan, I have used the heat set inserts much better than tapping holes directly in the plastic.
Apr 20, 2017 8:11 PM - daniel871: Helicoils are also an option if you don't care about heat pressing.

Apr 21, 2017 3:48 AM - danzca6: Well they did an auto refund to everyone for the wish.com createbot. Fraudulent activity was sited as the reason. Really was too good to be true I guess. At least they handled it gracefully.

Apr 24, 2017 7:56 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: cool I am going to give them a try
    Apr 24, 2017 7:59 AM - jim3Dbot: https://www.matterhackers.com/articles/fasteners-for-3d-printing?gclid=CKLEs7ysvdMCFUqewAodSU4LNQ
Apr 24, 2017 8:18 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: thats the exact site I found them on
Apr 24, 2017 9:32 AM - WheresWaldo: Ryan, the heat press inserts are good for a lot of things, if you require high torque then make sure you insert them to the insert is behind the parts you want to screw together. The picture shown on matterhackers shows the insert going into the same side that the threads will be pulling on
Apr 24, 2017 9:33 AM - WheresWaldo: Though that is fine in most installations if you design your part so that the insert is used from the backside, you will not be pulling directly on the insert itself, just a quick tip, not a rule by any means.
Apr 24, 2017 10:17 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: thanks for the advice WheresWaldo, for this particular application it will be inserted into the same side that the threads will be pulled
Apr 24, 2017 12:43 PM - Schlomo: Anyone have much success printing with PVA?
Apr 24, 2017 12:44 PM - Schlomo: Trying to print with PVA/PLA dual, and the PLA just doesnt want to stick at all to the PVA. Wondering if there is some special thing that people have done to help this.
Apr 24, 2017 1:09 PM - daniel871: I thought the entire point of PVA supports was so they wouldn't stick and would be easily removable later.
    Apr 24, 2017 1:09 PM - daniel871: Also, water soluble.
Apr 24, 2017 4:58 PM - Geof: I print PVA all the time on my sigma. The best thing I've found to do is model a 2nd file as the supports you want to use, never heard of pla not sticking to PVA but I only run Esun brand PVA

    Apr 25, 2017 7:20 AM - Mike Kelly: https://www.desktopmetal.com/
Apr 25, 2017 7:24 AM - daniel871: Eh. I like the name of this one, even if I'm not a huge fan of the LED SLA method. https://www.g3dsys.com/product/t1000/
    Apr 25, 2017 7:26 AM - daniel871: Also, holy shit @$120k for 200mm x 200mm x 300mm. I don't give a shit if it is metal.
Apr 25, 2017 7:45 AM - Schlomo: Hi Geof, I had good luck with ESUN PVA with ESUN PLA, but with ESUN PVA and ColorFabb PLA/PHA it wouldnt stick at all.
Apr 25, 2017 7:58 AM - daniel871: I've never really had any good luck with ColorFabb filaments. At least, nothing anywhere justifying the price they charge for a spool vs. much cheaper suppliers.
Apr 25, 2017 8:01 AM - Mike Kelly: Daniel this isn't meant for home users
Apr 25, 2017 8:02 AM - Mike Kelly: Engineering firms primarily
Apr 25, 2017 8:03 AM - Mike Kelly: Been fun to make even if the price point is higher than I was hoping
    Apr 25, 2017 8:04 AM - Mike Kelly: I like colorfabbs nGen
Apr 25, 2017 8:07 AM - Greg Sheets: Any details on strength, heat tolerance after sintering? (i.e. can you make turbine blades)?
Apr 25, 2017 8:11 AM - Mike Kelly: strength is a bit of a tricky thing because a part that has infil won't be as "strong" as a solid part but you get very close to the same strength with less weight
Apr 25, 2017 8:11 AM - Mike Kelly: if you did print a solid part you're at 99.5% solid
Apr 25, 2017 8:11 AM - Mike Kelly: similar, if not better, than a cast part which has more porosity
Apr 25, 2017 8:11 AM - Mike Kelly: from a heat tolerance, these are metal parts
Apr 25, 2017 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: got the same kind of heat resistance as if they weren't
Apr 25, 2017 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: high pressure applications is where we're limited since you can't get a smooth finish on internal cavities
Apr 25, 2017 8:18 AM - Greg Sheets: for jet engines, having infil would allow for cooling gases. I see Ti in the list of materials, so that can take the heat. Its more the tensile strength to resist centripetal forces (blade length expansion)
Apr 25, 2017 8:21 AM - Mike Kelly: yup we can do Ti
Apr 25, 2017 8:22 AM - Mike Kelly: I'm not aware of a limitation in tensile strength, we've ripped a few dogbones and they compare favorably
Apr 25, 2017 8:23 AM - Mike Kelly: small features are difficult to sinter though
Apr 25, 2017 8:27 AM - Mike Kelly: anyways I'll be floating around today if there's anymore questions, excited I can finally say things about it!
Apr 25, 2017 8:28 AM - daniel871: My only concern with Ti is how it will cook off if it spends too much time above 1,200C (the Studio printer claims it can go to 1,400C).
Apr 25, 2017 8:28 AM - Mike Kelly: well that's it's max temperature and we can do custom ramp profiles
Apr 25, 2017 8:30 AM - Mike Kelly: the sintering side of things is not my expertise but we have a team of PhD metalurgists working on it
Apr 25, 2017 8:30 AM - Greg Sheets: making exhaust blades both aerodynamic and manufacturable is the current challenge. GE did a press release a year or so ago with a metal FDM engine part and much better fuel economy. Fuel economy is directly related to efficiency of blade (aerodynamics) and tolerance in length (i.e. gap between blade tip and compressor wall)
Apr 25, 2017 8:30 AM - Geof: Hey Mike Kelly! Good to see you!
    Apr 25, 2017 8:30 AM - Mike Kelly: Hi Geof :)
    Apr 25, 2017 8:30 AM - Mike Kelly: https://www.desktopmetal.com/
Apr 25, 2017 8:30 AM - Mike Kelly: check out my baby
Apr 25, 2017 8:30 AM - Geof: Work for a Machine Shop in the 3D Printing Lab. Can I DM you my work email to talk a bit about you guys new metal printer?
    Apr 25, 2017 8:30 AM - Mike Kelly: where's Don
    Apr 25, 2017 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: he'd appreciate the ballscrews
    Apr 25, 2017 8:31 AM - Geof: Danzca?
Apr 25, 2017 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: Don Huevo
Apr 25, 2017 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: sure you can DM me
Apr 25, 2017 8:31 AM - Geof: oh man I havent seen him in ages
    Apr 25, 2017 8:31 AM - daniel871: don huevo hasn't been around in a while.
Apr 25, 2017 8:31 AM - Greg Sheets: Most engines that I'm used to operating have an ITT limit 780-840C, that's the temp of gas just after the compustion chamber
    Apr 25, 2017 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: gotcha
Apr 25, 2017 8:32 AM - Mike Kelly: so you mean a turbo turbine, not a jet engine
Apr 25, 2017 8:32 AM - Greg Sheets: like P&W turbine or RR
Apr 25, 2017 8:33 AM - Mike Kelly: I'd have to ask one of our metalurgists
Apr 25, 2017 8:40 AM - Mike Kelly: greg did you mean that they did metal DMLS?
Apr 25, 2017 8:40 AM - Mike Kelly: but we believe the limitation is in our porosity for doing blades
    Apr 25, 2017 8:43 AM - Greg Sheets: Mike : http://www.gereports.com/post/118394013625/these-engineers-3d-printed-a-mini-jet-engine-then/
Apr 25, 2017 8:44 AM - Mike Kelly: yup DMLS
Apr 25, 2017 8:44 AM - Mike Kelly: you get less porosity from that
Apr 25, 2017 8:47 AM - Greg Sheets: why do you think porosity would be a limitation? Have you seen an exhaust compressor blade after some use?
Apr 25, 2017 8:48 AM - Mike Kelly: so when FDM prints a strand you don't get a rectangular shape, you get like a slot shape
Apr 25, 2017 8:48 AM - Mike Kelly: and so if you have a 2x2 stack of strands in the middle of the 4 you get a diamond shape
Apr 25, 2017 8:48 AM - Mike Kelly: which is a stress riser
Apr 25, 2017 8:55 AM - Greg Sheets: Hmmm... so we need a good grout between layers ;)
Apr 25, 2017 8:56 AM - Mike Kelly: we have some ideas to optimize around that, which would just require a new firmware on the printer basically
Apr 25, 2017 8:57 AM - Greg Sheets: yeah, like carbon fiber, if you can control layer to layer "weave" direction
Apr 25, 2017 8:58 AM - Mike Glass: Holly Hell.
    Apr 25, 2017 8:59 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Apr 25, 2017 8:59 AM - Mike Kelly: sup mike
Apr 25, 2017 8:59 AM - Mike Glass: What UP MK
Apr 25, 2017 8:59 AM - Mike Kelly: finally out of hiding :)
    Apr 25, 2017 8:59 AM - Mike Glass: Yeah, got a break finally..lol
Apr 25, 2017 9:10 AM - Mike Kelly: did you check the website mike?
Apr 25, 2017 9:10 AM - daniel871: Contact Thomas Sanladerer to see if he'd be interested in reviewing a Studio unit after that MarkForged review he did.
Apr 25, 2017 9:11 AM - daniel871: "Mortgage your house and you can 3d print in Metal"
    Apr 25, 2017 9:11 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
Apr 25, 2017 9:11 AM - Mike Kelly: fuck markforged
    Apr 25, 2017 9:11 AM - Mike Kelly: i wouldn't recommend the DM Studio for a home use :)
Apr 25, 2017 9:12 AM - Mike Kelly: maybe in the future
    Apr 25, 2017 9:12 AM - daniel871: What's the ballpark opening price for a Production unit?
Apr 25, 2017 9:13 AM - daniel871: Didn't see a pricing sheet on the website section for it.
Apr 25, 2017 9:13 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i'm not sure what i'm allowed to say on that
Apr 25, 2017 9:13 AM - daniel871: Safe to assume "Add an extra Zero to the price"?
Apr 25, 2017 9:13 AM - Mike Kelly: you gain a 0 vs the studio printer itself, but not the studio system
Apr 25, 2017 9:14 AM - daniel871: Seeing machines like that kind of puts a damper on the hobby level printers we play with.
Apr 25, 2017 9:15 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it's a different world that most hobbyists don't really have access too
Apr 25, 2017 9:15 AM - daniel871: Here I am contemplating coating an M3 stud thermistor with some automotive RTV sealant after installation to keep the thermistor from flying out at higher temps due to epoxy breakdown.
Apr 25, 2017 9:15 AM - Mike Kelly: but the hope is that we can get it into hands of companies like shapeways and then you can get parts cheaper at least
Apr 25, 2017 9:16 AM - Mike Glass: I was reading the website, When can you get me a demo. :)
Apr 25, 2017 9:16 AM - daniel871: The seller claimed the epoxy could handle 280C but it comes out at 255C.
Apr 25, 2017 9:17 AM - Mike Kelly: our printer doesn't get that hot
Apr 25, 2017 9:17 AM - Mike Kelly: we're showing the printer at TCT+Rapid in pittsburgh
    Apr 25, 2017 9:17 AM - daniel871: I do a lot of PETG/PET+ and other high temp materials.
Apr 25, 2017 9:18 AM - Mike Kelly: we're looking for "stories" if you have interesting parts you'd be willing to let us show
Apr 25, 2017 9:18 AM - daniel871: And the MK10-style hotend has to get a lot hotter to run well than an E3D hotend would.
Apr 25, 2017 9:19 AM - daniel871: I've got a very simple reinforcing bracket I designed for the small snap-assembly greenhouse doors that my parents are growing things in.
Apr 25, 2017 9:20 AM - daniel871: Printed in PET+, but it would be hilarious to see them printed in some grade of rust-resistant metal.
    Apr 25, 2017 9:20 AM - Mike Glass: "Growing things" ?
Apr 25, 2017 9:23 AM - daniel871: Potatoes, Onions, broccoli, cabbage, lettuce, etc.
Apr 25, 2017 9:23 AM - daniel871: Didn't feel like listing all of the stuff.
    Apr 25, 2017 9:23 AM - daniel871: Like, 30 different plants arranged on a bunch of shelves.
Apr 25, 2017 9:24 AM - daniel871: The main body of the greenhouse was pretty rigid, but the doors themselves would slip out of square every time you opened/shut them to water the plants or just check on them.
Apr 25, 2017 2:06 PM - daniel871: Some idiot on Facebook is seriously arguing that toolpaths for CNC mills/lathes are as easily generated with free CAM software packages as the sliced Gcode is generated for 3d printers. Some people.

Apr 26, 2017 7:47 AM - mark tomlinson: Ummm. No on the free CAM software. Apparently he/she/it has never actually done this.
Apr 26, 2017 7:47 AM - mark tomlinson: There is good software out there, but like S3D -- it ain't free. Way more expensive even :)
Apr 26, 2017 8:04 AM - daniel871: They finally ended up citing Fusion360's CAM functions and I pointed out that most of the entry-level 3d printer hobbyists aren't going to know how to configure a post for a hobby-level CNC machine.
Apr 26, 2017 8:05 AM - daniel871: Like every CAM package on the market, you still end up having to either figure out how to write a post yourself or pay the software seller to set one up.
Apr 26, 2017 8:08 AM - daniel871: Though, to be fair, there is the post code that you could copy/paste into an editor, save and load into Fusion360 and try, but I don't know if it actually works: http://mpcnc.blogspot.com/2016/03/fusion-360-post-processor-for-marlin.html

Apr 28, 2017 10:52 AM - mark tomlinson: @daniel871 Did you see this?
    Apr 28, 2017 10:52 AM - mark tomlinson: http://3dprinting.bard.net/how-to-octoprint-on-raspberry-pi-for-mp-select-mini-3d/
Apr 28, 2017 10:53 AM - mark tomlinson: Looks a lot like the one I did for the R1/R1+ Same base components :)
Apr 28, 2017 10:53 AM - mark tomlinson: Had a buddy of mine that needed a couple of cheaper smaller printers so I pointed him that way
Apr 28, 2017 11:51 AM - daniel871: I haven't seen that, but theoretically you don't need it for the Mini. A simple firmware update enables Wifi control and the built-in firmware interface functions covers everything but the timelapse camera stuff.
Apr 28, 2017 12:47 PM - daniel871: The V2 of the Mini is up now.
    Apr 28, 2017 12:48 PM - daniel871: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=21711
    Apr 28, 2017 12:48 PM - daniel871: Also the delta
Apr 28, 2017 12:49 PM - daniel871: Well, a teaser of the delta in their comparison chart, but the page isn't live yet.

May 2, 2017 6:53 AM - daniel871: Because LOL at the people who read the book and missed the part where Shadow was black. The guy is literally called *Shadow* and a bunch of characters make remarks about it how can that be missed?
May 2, 2017 7:50 AM - NFOsec: My GOD, this place has gone downhill... LOL.

May 2, 2017 12:24 PM - Toro1966: Hey guys - running into a problem with the R1+. Won't heat up. All connections are good at the hot end but haven't checked the board side yet. W as working fine then I started getting a thermal runaway. Now when I try and heat it, I get printer halted - please reset
May 2, 2017 12:28 PM - Toro1966: Bed will heat, but hot end will not.
May 2, 2017 12:30 PM - Geof: what temp at room temperature?
May 2, 2017 12:30 PM - Geof: likely a loose thermistor or wiring.
May 2, 2017 12:30 PM - Geof: wiggle the wires while looking at the temp chart and see if it fluctuates. If it does you found your demon
    May 2, 2017 12:37 PM - Toro1966: 22 Geoff at room temperatue
May 2, 2017 12:44 PM - Toro1966: Got it. Looks like loose thermistor or heater wire.
May 2, 2017 12:44 PM - Toro1966: Push in on conenctions and starts rising. MIght have to redo the connections.
    May 2, 2017 12:44 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Geoff

May 5, 2017 10:03 AM - Schlomo: If you had to make a farm of 20 printers, say 200x200x200 build volume, which printer would you go with? Price would be a major consideration
    May 5, 2017 10:04 AM - Schlomo: Na, lets say 10 printers
May 5, 2017 10:22 AM - Geof: I have a print farm over 20 printers. Variety is key in my opinion.
May 5, 2017 10:29 AM - Schlomo: Do you do prints for clients?
    May 5, 2017 10:55 AM - daniel871: My first instinct is to say 20X Prusa i3 MK2, but I don't think they do 200mm on Z.
    May 5, 2017 10:55 AM - daniel871: Can't recall.
May 5, 2017 10:56 AM - daniel871: 20x MPCNCs with a stationary heated bed and the Z-supports tall enough for the height you want.
May 5, 2017 10:56 AM - daniel871: It's intended for milling aluminum (albeit slowly) so it ought to be able to handle 3d printing.
May 5, 2017 11:08 AM - Geof: Yes. I do prints for clients. Full time 3DP

May 5, 2017 11:36 AM - daniel871: Also an older Resin printer that might be an "LOL good luck finding resin it will allow you to use" machine.
