Yeah that is a much better design. Now to just make myself hold off on ordering parts until i do more research.. But that thing looks sweet, and perfect for what i need.

I am building the Spider 2, and with judicious parts buying and only doing a bit at a time, I have about $700 total invested, much less than I have input in my Robo.

Biggest expenses were the motors (I went 0.9° 400 steps/rev) and electronics (Smoothie compatible, tired of Marlin and RAMPS).

Nice. Now you got me really thinking.. I may just go ahead and order the the frame pieces and start printing parts while i research everything else. Try not to jump the gun too much. I know i'd like to go as big as i can so might as well go with the herculien. Still not giving up on having a reliable 14"x9" Robo though!

Modified the Y axis mount to fit 10mm rods.

Edit: Going to raise it up even more to make sure the bed clears the bearings

Installed and working great! About 15.5" of Y travel and no more slop when the table is all the way out. Redesigned the Y Axis mounts again to be fully adjustable at each corner. Z Rods are also a lot more sturdy. The 2 holes for the Z rods are the only critical hole sizes because they are slip fit.

Also seems to have quieted down the machine, isolating the Z and Y axis motors.

Lead screw upgrade coming up next.

    Thanks for all the help!

Hey guys sorry I didn't have a notification of a response to the email. If you guys still want the plates made up I can get a final price, but we would need at least 10 in the order to get the price down to 20 each(obviously with most forms of machining the bigger the run the cheaper it is).
