    Hey Guys,

Thomas Sanladerer recently did a review of the Prometheus V2 hot end. Tom is well known in the 3D printing community for his honest and objective reviews.

It looks like Prometheus passed the test!

    Check out Tom's review:

    Happy printing!

Hi, why do you and most hotend manufacturers force their customers to wire their own thermistors? This comes across as exploiting the DIY part of the community by pawning your work off on people. I bring this up because this is a painful process that people shouldnt have to do and im not seeing any reason why for the price people should have to do this.

    Hi Robocad,

The reason that I (and most other hot end manufacturers) do this is because the kits we sell are unassembled. Doing assembly in house would cost more money and further add to the price of the product. Many DIYer actually enjoy assembling the hot end and it takes about 20 minutes so it is usually not too much trouble. I am looking at offering fully assembled Prometheus Hot ends in the future but this would add to the cost so some people would not be willing to pay for it. Selling kits just seems to work best as most people prefer to pay the lower price. It is not about taking advantage of the user, but rather about offering them the best price possible.

I do appreciate your comment as it is an important thing to consider! I am sure there are many other users like you who would be more willing to pay for a fully assembled product to avoid the hassle of assembly. I will keep this in mind. Let me know if you have any more questions!

    Regards,
    Eric

I got a prometheus only because you use silicone sleeving for the thermistor instead of the cheap breakable fiberglass e3d uses which caused my v6 to die. That and the leakproof design of it which the e3d had alot of problems with.

Do you recommend seasoning it before use?

Seasoning is not necessary with the Prometheus V2 but it wouldn't hurt so if you feel more comfortable seasoning the filament then go for it! However, you could try printing without seasoning to see how it goes.

Let me know how it works out!

    Regards,
    Eric

Sure! That should simplify your assembly.

Just make sure you do a PID Autotune once you have it all set up.

I just got it today, im at the part where you attach the thermistor, i tried attaching the robo's thermistor which is a metal cylinder case but it is much too large for the provided holes. I'd attach the provided thermistor but robo's electronics terminate to a clip plug located above the extruder, so i have no way of using this. Do you even own a robo?

I do not own a robo 3d printer. Can you send pics so that I can advise?

You will need to attach the new thermistor to the old thermistor cable. Are you able to cut the old cables further down near the hot end?

Im not going to mangle my electronics to accommodate your design, if you can provide an additional clip to wire in your thermistor then i can use that instead, though ive never wired a clip before you would have to provide instruction. Here is a picture of it, the only markings are "xs 30".
