    That LCD (RepRap Full Graphic) requires firmware changes. The smaller one (RepRap Discount LCD style) does not.

    The Z endstop hit may have simply been left on the LCD from the autoleveling (because it will happen then).

    If you have an LCD controller add-on you can also adjust it in the Motion sub-menu.
