LCD has menus the menu choices are:
    1. Control >> Restore failsafes
    2. Control >> Store memory

I have seen those controls on the lcd, but thought those were the reset everything back to factory settings, like on a computer.

    • Restore failsafes means take the settings that are hardcoded into the currently flashed firmware and put them in working memory regardless of what was there before.
    • Store memory means take the current working memory and write them to EEPROM regardless what was there before.
    Restore failsafes = M502
    Store memory = M500

So if I hit those it won't mess anything up, just reset it

I can't answer that, all I can guarantee is what I wrote in the last message, if you did anything that was stored in memory that was different than what is in the firmware it will overwrite it. How that affects your printer only you will know. But if you didn't f*** around with the firmware much, it should work.

Connecting it via USB and running M502 and M500 on the terminal did the trick. It shows 820 for esteps. Thank you both for walking me through this, I have learned a lot. I know I have been a pain in the a**, I appreciate you both sticking with me, this is why I love this forum. Noobs like me learn a ton.

This stumps a lot of people, they don't understand the priority Marlin uses. It works like this, if EEPROM is enabled then on printer boot up it reads the firmware settings and moves them to working memory. Then Marlin reads EEPROM and overwrites working memory with the settings stored there, unless all the settings are null (ie nothing in EEPROM). Rarely is it null. So EEPROM has the highest priority. If EEPROM in not enabled then on printer boot firmware settings are moved to working memory and away you go.

EEPROM is enabled or disabled in firmware, you can't enable/disable it after the fact

So in the older versions of Robo, eeprom is disabled and the printer reads whatever is flashed? Or should 1 always reset the eeprom after flashing?

I am not sure this was ever true for the Robo, all of the older ones I had would still use the EEPROM even before I started migrating them to newer firmware. I am not saying for sure that it is NOT true... with Robo you can never be entirely certain.

I have always had Robo R1+ and R1++. Now 2 R1++. I have tried the original Prusa i3 MK2, and never had luck with it printing.

All the older firmwares did not have EEPROM enabled, I have a copy of every zip file and I checked the oldest ones.

I'm printing out another calibration cube to see if that helped

    Still a bad print:
    .2 layer height
    Perimeters =2
    Infill 25%
    1.75 PLA
    Extrusion multiplier =1.1
    Ext temp =200
    Bed temp =45
    Z offset .5
    Nozzle diameter .4
Calibrated manually, then auto home, print runs the 9 point bed leveling as well

Read all those, k guess the closest thing is under extrusion. I have the extrusion multiplier at 1.1 and now the esteps at 820, but maybe the printer won't take that much. I will just have to experiment and print 100s of calibration cubes, lol

If you have "too much oil" you will see puddles on the bed. Otherwise, you are good.
Make sure the nozzle is not clogged is all ...
