Today I have been working on connecting the Chimera to my robo 3D R1+. I bought a new ramps board and attached that to my arduino mega. I have it all hooked up and when I power it on all the lights and fans go on. The only thing is my lcd screen lights up and shows no information and the board wont connect to the computer. I have edited the firmware and everything. The arduino also doesn't connect to the computer when the ramps is connected. It only connects with the ramps if nothing is plugged into the ramps. Then the screen will light up with information. All help is appreciated.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it is probably a bad RAMPS board.
I understand it is a new board, but the last time I replaced a RAMPS board (using the cheapest ones I could find on Amazon) I ended up buying 3 and two of them were bad :(

Thankfully they were cheap and I got them through Amazon Prime so returning them was easy.

If you really feel that it is not a bad RAMPS then disconnect all of the outputs/inputs from the RAMPS and see if the Arduino works with it attached. If it does then start connecting the outputs one at a time (power off and back on as you do this of course) and see where it fails.

Your symptoms are for a bad board. However it is remotely possible an output or input is wired incorrectly. So try disconnecting everything and landing them one-at-a-time as I described.

Almost none of the people who post here work for Robo, we are all just printer owners like yourself. There are a couple of staff members who are Robo employees and they are all labeled as Robo employees.

None of us work for Robo :D We are all volunteers (@mark tomlinson @WheresWaldo and myself) who donate out time to help out the Robo community :D

100% agree on removing connections to the ramps board one at a time and see what brings the board to life. If nothing, the board is shorted somewhere and needs replaced. I often have issues with end stops (not the board- me getting them on the right pins) Might be worth starting there.

Perhaps a switch is connected wrong. If you are not careful an endstop (for example) could be landed across the power supply + and - rather than the SIGNAL pins :) That is an easy mistake to make since all three pins are right next to each other.

Can you send me a full diagram of how to wire dual extrusion on a ramps 1.4. With all the end stops.

Should I just buy a new arduino. Is it bad to get a knock off one. I was wondering because the knockoff is like 1/4 of the price.

I found the problem in the stepper drivers. When i plug them in the screen gets dark and it wont boot.
