The tension on the belt on the left side of my R2 is much looser than the one on the right. Prints seem to be OK so far. Does this belt need to be tightened and if so, how do you do that?

Nope it is fine. R2 is not the same as the R1 and it is a gantry style frame which uses a continuous loop belt. It is one loop like a rubber band and those are timing belts -- they do not stretch so they never should need adjustment

If the belt truly gets loose on both sides it is probably because the gantry has gotten knocked out of alignment. They provided you with some clips to help fix that if it does every happen.
