    Hey guys,
I have had a look around but could not find an answer to this.
I printed 2 of Marquis' parts fans from the following site
    http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:697200

I found that as soon as the first layers are done and the fans kick in my hotend temp drops dramatically and causes an error.
With a single fan in place everything works fine.
Question : Is a dual fan a better option and if so what am I doing wrong.
Do I need to adjust fan speeds? Has anyone got this setup and if so how are they running it?
    Thanks

Hi, do you have an e3d or hexagon?

Dual fan is better for pla. I suggest a 40 watt heater core and yes a temporary solution is turning down fan speed

I don't think those fans work with Hex. Are you able to angle them down at all so they don't blow right on the heat block?

In addition make sure the fans are pointed at the plastic being printed not the heater block or nozzle of the extruder.

I have a E3D clone using the stock heat cartridge.

The fan(s) are the problem, but you can try a 40w heater core if you want.
That might give you enough power to overcome the extra air flow.

Hey guys. Looking to revisit this mod and wanted to hear from others that have done this. If so how did you get around the temp drop error? I have messaged Marquis on his youtube video but have not received a reply. I see heaps of people using the dual fans but no one can answer. If the 40w heater block is the way to go I will order one now.

There is no reason to run the fans at 100%, so you could use say 40%-60% and that might be enough cooling. Also make sure the opening of the duct does not blow air on the heater block at all, sand or shave some if you have to so it directs all airflow to the part.

Thanks for that. Would I change the settings in firmware or at the slicer level?
