I've been using my robo 3d r1 plus for somewhere close to 6 months now. The printer was working great until a few weeks back the first layer started failing immediately into the print. The filament would begin to lay down a typical layer , and as the head would move, the filament would fail to stick to the bed, leaving the plastic to drag behind the head, until reaching (what I'm guessing) is a more level area. I've spent days trying different leveling techniques, making sure it's perfectly level with use of digital calipers. I'm at a complete loss as to what my next step is. I'm hoping someone can provide some assistance. Thank you.

Thank you for your quick reply. Yes, I've watched the video and have leveled the printer as much as possible with no luck. Unfortunately, the site is requiring me to post 3 times before adding a link to the video. Link to follow shortly. Additionally, I'm running simplify 3D.

Hello. Why are you using tape ? What material ? That tape doesnt appear to be covering all auto level points

That is a good point. The current ABL algorithm is a mathematical construct so doing things deliberately to make it work harder is a bad idea :)

If you are using tape make sure it covers all of the 9 autolevel sample points.

Again, thank you all for helping. I have made sure that the tape is completely flat and that it covers all sample points. I'm printing with abs at 235 and keeping the bed at 80 C for the initial layers. I have run similar leveling exercises without take and have had the same issues.

What's your z offset in simplify. I'd imagine it's to high and you need to go to a smaller number (closer to the bed).

For adhesion I use hairspray, can't comment much on abs as I don't use it

Z offset is currently at .09. For comparison, at .06 it dug into the take at the low end.

    Start lowering the offset
Try -.85 and keep going down until you get a good squished first layer.

I'm having issues just getting the different parts of the bed to stick. Where it starts to print I get a really nice squished first layer, and as it moves, the layer begins to string.

How do your z switches look ? Share a picture of each one ?

I think your first picture looks a little odd, it should look like the other (the mount should be flush).

Id even that switch out paper level and lets see what happens

Yes, you want them to be mounted as close to the same as possible.
When the leveling is going on, either switch triggering is enough to signal 'at the bed' and that this the position it will use.
If the two switches are not at the same relative height that will affect the bed leveling and when it comes to bed leveling... fractions of a MM matter :)

Sorry for the long break, I've been incredibly busy. I tried to level out the z-switch that appears to be slightly crocked, but the switches both have give when I would adjust and tighten them down. Is there a thread on how to fix these?

I can easily jostle the z switches. Because of this, I can't get the left switch to sit as flush as my right switch.

there is a phillips screw with a lock nut (m3 or so it looks like). you'll have to remove the cover for the right one. If you take that loose you can slide the mount on the nut and get it flush. After that you do a paper level to square the x with the y and you should be good :D
