Google Home in a BB-8 Project... New member

Would love to see if R2 can print BB-8

Well, I'm hoping to be a proud owner of an R2 very soon , first post but I thought I would show you what I'm up to at the moment.

I've been wanting an R2 ever since they were released and all being well I should pick up a secondhand one very soon. It will not be my first printer as I have about 8, maybe more, but I'm hoping it will be a goto printer. I'm also very much a let's take it apart type of guy and see how it ticks. So expect some posts and lots of questions soon.

I currently have a Prusa Mk3 / JG Aurora A3 / A3s / A4 / A5 / Z603S / Dreamer / Dremel 403D, I think that's it..

So, in preparation, I've been designing up a BB-8 housing to hold my Google Home in. It will take a couple of days to print and use 3 different colours, some super glue will be required to fix it all together. I've made a good start but still need to finish the head.

I'll release the STL's if anyone wants them when I'm done via Thingiverse. I've done it in Inventor







Just printing and tweaking bits as I go.. I'm nearly happy now with the design of the body. Will doe the head this weekend.

Having to reprint the head... the 'EYE' was too small I thought... Should have it finished for tomorrow
