Hi folks I picked up a used R1 Plus about 3 weeks ago and I have pretty much dealt with every issue on this forum, However I have a biggy that I cant solve. the heat bed reads maxtemp at 115.4c no matter the case. The printer had chewed through the grey cable over time so I soldered it back up and now I have a permanent error it seems and I have no way to bypass. This isnt my first rodeo with thermistors so I tried all of the normal stuff but first and foremost the reading should have dumped to 0 as soon as I unplugged it but it sat steady at 115.4c, So I swapped it with the hot end thermistor and it held steady at 115.4c. Im guessing the board is damaged but Im holding out hope I'm wrong. The heated bed did not work when I bought it but the machine functioned fine, Honestly I would settle for a solution to keep the firmware from looking for the dang thermistor in the first place as aquanet is working just fine for adhesion. Thanks for any input!

Stripping out the thermistor code in not a trival matter so you are kinda stuck with it. If you swapped thermistors and the one side always reports the same temp, then it like is an issue with the RAMPS board.

RAMPS boards are really cheap and even kits that contain RAMPS, Arduino, Stepper drivers, LCD, etc are even fairly inexpensive.

Amazon, eBay and many Chinese retailers carry them.

I'm pulling it now To see if there is any burning underneath, I am seriously frustrated with the lack of attention to wire wear in the engineering.

@WheresWaldo has it nailed. swap the thermistor wires on the board and see if the problem persists. If yes, the board is no good and needs replaced. I doubt you will see any visual damage.

Just ordered a new one, I will update Saturday after install. The Ramps has nothing to do with the firmware correct??

Well after wasting 8 hours today fiddling with this thing I'm over it. The new board did not change the code even though I never even plugged in the bed heater and there's something goofy going on with the Z axis that I can't seem to hash out, I appreciate all the help but this pos is going in the garage until I have the patience to chase my tail again

You need to have everything hooked up and the firmware flashed to the new board

Even though it was just the RAMPS board?

Ah I thought you bought the kit with a new arduino included. Sorry about that. What happens if you swap the hotend thermistor with the heatbed thermistor on your ramps ?

Edit: on the new one you just installed

The bed still shows max temp?

Do you have a link with decent instructions for flashing the firmware and reinstall? That is literally the only thing I haven't done and only because I've never had to do anything but update it prior

Mind you this board has never had a bed thermistor hooked to it

Also the board is kuman 4.1 and lo and behold that is the only model on they're website without a wiring diagram

Flashing the firmware won't help unless you've changed something. Sounds like a hardware issue. The bed heater issue can only be one of a few things as far as failures
    1. Ramps board (most likely, even new ones come in bad)
    2. Heater or thermistor short for max temp, open for min (less likely, can check with a multimeter)
    3. Arduino failure (less likely but have seen once or twice)

    1. Check
    2.Check
3.seems very unlikely according to what I have read.

About the Z axis, it seems that no combination of turning the plugs is making the motors work in tandem, it's one up and one down or nothing
