My prints seem to be smooshed...like the printer head is not high enough to where it needs to be.

    Any ideas for help?

Post a picture. First layer is supposed to be smooshed. Once we see a picture we can let you know if you need to raise the offset or not

The Z offset is probably off. Look in the G codes for M565. It should be between Z-0 and Z-1.1
It compensates for the variation in activation/deactivation time of the Z stop switches.
    Mine is presently Z-0.60
You also have to configure the parallelism between X carriage shafts and work table.
This is done with a single sheet of 20# paper. Instructions are under configuer.

At one point, I put in G29 into my terminal, thinking it would help...maybe this screwed me up?

While printing you can adjust the nozzle hight by twisting the rods. Thats a lot easier than doing it in the software. Not sure if the experts agree to this method though..

That is fine for fine tuning, but that way won't 'stick' between prints.

If your Z steps per mm are correct at the most likely 2560, then it could be the case the Z stepper motor is overheating causing it to skip steps.

Verify the fan on the bottom of the printer is running and get something to space the printer off the ground so that fan has plenty of air available.
