If you have ribbing this will cure it. Otherwise no

Thank you for clarifying for me :) reading old posts about upgrades and starting to get confused as to what to do and what's been done lol. Can anyone shed some light on this ?

R1 plus is a really good printer. Only thing I would suggest is an lcd and dual parts fans

I'm totally new...what does the lcd do? I am in the process of finding dual fans and wiring( I am printing small figures, 15-20mm max) and am apparently not cooling fast enough between layers... Though this may no be my problem lol kind of trial and error

The LCD allows you to run the printer without being connected to a computer. You put the code on an SD card. Put the SD card in the printer, then start from the LCD and make any needed adjustments during the print.

Would this not be a good upgrade for me since all I use is a laptop hooked to the robo ? They sit side by side and the laptop is only there for printing purposes

Personally, I love running from LCD and have one on all of my printers.

Running over USB is never a good idea. It's fine for a paper printer where things take a few seconds, but on a 3D Printer, all of those background activities running on your machine can cause trouble, never mind something like forgetting to turn off power save mode.

If you have no other use for the laptop, you can basically accomplish printing without the USB by putting your files on the SD, putting the SD in the printer, and then running the code from the SD rather than from your computer. You still have the computer connected if you need to make any changes.

I have the RepRap Discount LCD on one and the Full Graphics LCD on another.
They work fine. Features differ, but really I don't use most of the features on either since like yourself I run a computer attached.
They are easy to launch and monitor/fine-tine a print from the SD card that you sliced into GCode from other software.

hmm.. seems like it could be interesting ! I will look at both models tonight and see if I should order one :D I'm guessing on the forum there is installation help from people doing this already? Seems like being able to put the SD into the controller instead of the printer would be much easier :D its kind of a pain the way I have my robo set up! Thanks for the advice!

The RepRap Discount is simple, just plug it in.
There may be a firmware tweak for the Full graphic one.

Plus the RepRap discount one is really (really) cheap.

You can order some of them from @Printed Solid even :)
They are the (pretty much) same regardless of where you order them.

I don't think he carries the cheapest one so Amazon would work.

Print solid is a member here right ? Only seems fitting to spend money with other members (even if it costs some extra )
