Could be a bug around switching to/from relative and absolutes... You would need to try it on the release version of 1.10 though

Nope, I was wrong. It looks like the problem is still present. Even though I had removed the z axis movements from the start code. For the first dozen or so times it seemed to be working and following the g-code exactly. Now, sometimes nozzle goes downward and seemingly goes down forever. I find that the only way to prevent it is to do a manual homing sequence first, then start my print. I guess that works since now it knows exactly where the nozzle is on the x/y/z plane.

I thought that's what I was using, no? You mean the stock, unmodified version? I'm using the RC8 version I downloaded from WheresWaldo's post.

There is a new thread started at the time 1.1.0 was released as gold. RC8 is now deprecated.

Is there a specific reason you need to set absolute positioning?

I would remove that line completely from your start up code as that is already the default behavior of Marlin.

I don't know, it was there by default, but I'll remove it.
I actually had no idea RC8 was deprecated and there was another Marlin v1.1.0. I just updated my firmware. Let's see if this fixes my problem.

Well, that certainly did it. I haven't had the problem reoccur since I updated to Marlin 1.1 from RC8. You guys rock.
