They have 1/32 stepping so you'd need to modify your firmware.

ok thanks. just wanted to know because it would allow for lower running noise. Can anyone confirm ?

I might try to go for those one

a bit on the expensive side but hey if it means that the printer can run silently i'll take it

Most of the noise you hear from the Robo is not from the steppers. It is a combination of cheap chinese fans, and the bearings running along the rails. The stepper noise is only some additional on top of those two biggest contributors. If you want quiet, then first replace all the fans with low noise equivalents. Then get yourself some IGUS bearings and replace all the LM8UU (all 12) linear bearings. Those two things will leave you with a printer much quieter by many decibels.

All those options require no messing with firmware, no compiling, no uploading. Just changing the stepper drivers will be insignificant with regard to noise.

I replaced my stepper drivers with DRV8825s and I heard no noise difference. As Waldo said, the fans are what's causing a very large majority of the sound. It seems like the fan on the hot end heat sink is the biggest culprit of them all. As Mike & Mark said, you'll have to change the esteps on each of the motors you swap the stepper drivers on to double their standard value.

Problem with the bronze bearing/bushing is that their nominal outside diameter is usually much smaller than the LM8UU so they are not a drop in replacement. But they are quieter and will handle axial loads as well as radial loads, so they are a good choice if you can make them work.
