We have a printed set for our (really old) Southbend lathe (circa 1930)
Printed gears (even PLA) work fine in low-speed environments..

We did ours with Alloy910, but even PLA is tougher than it gets credit for in the right uses.

I designed/printed a gear for my lathe to get an automatic advance pitch that the supplied gears didn't allow for. Does the job perfectly fine, got the quickly and approximately remodeled teeth to work fine at first try. Obviously may not last decades, but counting I can reprint one in 4 touchscreen taps and 30 mins makes it the least of my worries :)
