Hi, Just a simple thread to see what you guys use to get your print to stick to the bed.

It would be awsome if you could add a quick description of the filament like this one:

    - filament type
    -brand name
    -printing temps (extruder\bed)
    -what's on your bed
    -speeds

    ?
Not sure i get what you mean there.
All of my filaments work (other than Nylon which works, but be problematic).

Temperatures for other people are a grab-bag since the best/perfect temperature depends on your environment (and may well vary even for your own). At a minimum they would vary by hotend (Hexagon versus E3D versus Volcano, etc.). Speeds as well (I can crank the Volcano up to ludicrous speed).

Repeatedly testing is the best way to find your sweet spots for each spool.

    I'll try to clarify myself:

I do NOT have problems with the first layer. I have other problems but not this one.
It just wanted to know what others use to get print to stick to the bed

ABS, I bought a mix of different bands. But mainly xyx brand that the damn chip won't recognize in my xyz 1.1 plus (sorry my rant).
135 ex 100 bed. I also have PLA, PETG, wood and metal.

Right now I am using buildtak and Elmer's extreme stick.
By the way It really sticks to the glass I am not sure how I am going to get it off- any suggestions?
I am using default S3D settings, I think it chooses the speeds at different levels. I only adjust it for specialty filament.

Oh yeah I use a large Amazon box semi cut to fit around my Robo3d as to block the rooms air current and it keeps the heat in as well. The redneck version of an enclosure, yeah am from SC. It may look funny but it works.

Buildtak is what I use, it's awesome. just make sure you change your gcode to autolevel before the nozzle heats up or it'll melt through.

I've been using the glue stick that came with the printer. I'll coat it when the bed is warm and I haven't had any problems with that yet.

The cleanup is kind of a PITA but all my PLA prints have adhered no problem.

I'm using glue on the Robo, but use a PEI sheet on my other printer because its got a removable glass bed and PEI holds ABS so well I usually end up putting it in the freezer for 20 minutes to be able to pop it off. If there's a mod to unplug the heater cable on the Robo I'll probably use it so I can use PEI on it as well. No glue, no tape, nothing for ABS on PEI. Haven't tried it with other plastics but I've heard its pretty good on many.

I was using hairspray, but I was having a hard time getting a tall, thin cylinder to print without coming off the bed. So, I tried painter's tape, which worked on the cylinder great. I made the mistake of using painters tape today on a part with more surface area in touch with the bed (I figured, it worked before, why not?) and the part stuck so well, it snapped in half when I tried to pry it off. I guess I'm saving painter's tape for tricky parts.

The only problem I can see running into with the glue stick is the cleanup. I had a fleeting thought of just letting it build up to have a constant tacky surface... Like seasoning a cast iron pan.... But after a while, the bed isn't going to me 0 anymore. lol. +1, +2, etc.

I haven't tried the hairspray yes, probably just because I haven't run out of glue. (My boys just happen to have a cache of it for school. lol)

The more I read about PEI, the more i want to snag one and check it out. :)

Just like hairspray, alcohol cleans up glue stick nicely.
If you use that in combo with the painters tape then just peel and replace the tape :)

I used kapton tape on the Rep2x. Generally with a misting of hairspray.

I use Windex to clean up glue stick and hair spray. It works better, for me, than plain alcohol, though alcohol is in it.

My other printer has a PEI bed (I think anyway, they called it "Magic Thermosurface") and it's pretty nifty. I never used anything on it and even complex prints (ones I've reprinted on the robo and had to use something strong, like tape) never had a problem.

If I absolutely must have to have the print to stick, I use blue painter's tape and then smear glue on top. Between that and the heat (80' for ABS print), the sucker is stuck and stuck good. I usually have problem getting it off the bed.
