Well, I was really close to getting an R1, but I'm a little discouraged now necause I spoke with sales, and he said they will be discontinuing the R1 ama few months after the release of the R2. I just don't want to get the R1 only for it to be outdated a couple months later, and i can't afford the 1500 price tag of the R2. I don't know. What does everyone here think?

The R2 isn't even close to being launched and not worth considering at this time. Who did you speak with?

I don't remember his name, and I don't want to get anyone in trouble. I just asked because I was hoping they would continue to have it, as it's perfectly in between the R2 and R2 mini.

He was talking like it was coming out in a couple months. Maybe I misunderstood that part though.

Wouldn't be the first time something was released without anyone here being told. That firmware drop last week without any kind of notification was kind of out of the blue.

I haven't been told anything of the sort and my understanding was that they would continue to sell an R1 alongside the R2 and Mini.

That said, you might wait until august to buy if you're on the fence...

He said they would sell it a couple months after the R2 releases. I mean i guess I'll still get it since I couldn't afford the R2 anyway, but I just want to makes sure it's still supported for years to come.

The R1 will be around for several years to come. We have no plans to discontinue it.

I really hope you're right. I thought it was the perfect fit between the R2 and R2 mini.

The R2, R Mega, and R Mini were all announced at CES 2015. Do you know when they will actually release? CES 2016 is right around the corner...

Nope, you need to ping Robo3D directly for that information.
They have not yet announced here that I see. I personally would be interested in a Mini :) so if you do get feedback, let us know.

I can assure you the R1 and now the new R1plus will be around for years. Jerry is a owner of Robo3d and I spend alot of time at the office with the guys. Also being open source you will be able to get any parts you need for a long time to come also. The R1 plus is a turn key machine and all the little issues we had with our R1's have been dealt with. Nice machine, I have 2 Robo r1's and just bough a R1 plus on fri. Picking it up tomorrow.

We were discussing when the R2 might be released. No clue on that one.

That was what I guessed as well. Though they seem to have a bit of a moving target so we'll see
