I have been trying to change settings in Slic3r to improve the resolution of this part. It doesn't matter if I choose 0.4mm layer height or 0.1mm, my resolution is still horrible. If you look at the picture attached, I need to have the section on a 45 degree angle completely filled in. I have the following settings and how you see it in the picture is exactly how it prints as well. Can anyone help please?

    Layer Height: 0.1 mm
    First Layer: 100%
    Perimeters: 3
Solid Layers: Top 5 and Bottom 5
    Fill Density: 100%
    Fill Pattern: rectilinear
    Top/Bottom fill pattern: rectilinear
    Solid Infill every: 1 layer
    Fill Angle: 45 degrees
Solid infill threshold area: 10 mm^2

Sounds like time to try a different slicer.
While most of them are solid performers I have been able to uncover weak areas in each and every one--some were hard than others to break :)

Just switch to a different one and see if you can't get there.

100% infill should come pretty close to always 100%, but...

Thank you Mark. I tried Skeinforge and it is a nightmare to figure out. I can't seem to get the speeds (movement/feedrate) correct. I looked into Cura and I was getting the same results as Slic3r. Any suggestions on a slicer?

Oh I agree. Skienforge is your worst nightmare :) I am convinced you could slice ANYTHING with it if you just could get through the settings correctly... There is next to nothing for help I could find either.

If Neither Cura nor Slic3r are doing it try some of the other free ones (kisslicer, matterslicer, etc.) there are a good number of them.

Personally, I use Simplify3D and love it. However, not free.

If you want, shoot me the STL and I will slice it for you with Simplify3D (let me know what all the settings are you want).
However you will still want to go through the startup GCode and make it work for you, I have a beta not an R1.

    KISSslicer isn't free.

The slicer preview doesn't simulate the layer width, just shows you where it's going to run. We'd need to see a picture of what you printed to know if and what the issue is.

Really? I must have glommed a copy when it was (or in beta or something).
I do have a working copy that I downloaded a long time ago.
I will keep that in mind (I don't use it at any rate).

It is printing exactly how it looks in the Slic3r slice. I have changed everything including the kitchen sink and keep getting the same results.

Nozzle diameter: 0.4mm. I have it set to 100% infill. Can I change the extrusion width?

Did you turn down your extrusion multiplier?

If you extruder filament in the air is it at least 0.4 mm in diameter?

Maybe post screenshots of all your slice settings

Mike, The filament is extruding at 0.41mm in the air.

These are the settings out of gCode
    perimeters extrusion width = 0.40mm
    infill extrusion width = 1.28mm
solid infill extrusion width = 0.68mm
top infill extrusion width = 0.68mm

If you tell it to extrude 20mm do you get 20mm or something else?

It is hard to tell. The filament starts to curl around back toward the extruder. Is there a way to check?

Lower the extrude temp and try testing that again.
If the filament curls directly back to the hotend it likely too hot.

Tried it at 190C and extruded commanded 20 mm but only 17.71 mm went through. I see where my problem is, but what is the best way to correct it on the Robo3d? In the EEProm like the example?

In the firmware is the most permanent place, but if you work up a % error you can just modify the % extrusion in the software (like Repetier or Simplify) and that will address it as well. You might want to start with that to make sure the new settings work before bothering with reflashing the firmware. Once you do that you will need to remember your modifications going forward and make those edits in new releases :)

One reason I haven't updated mine in a while, nothing broken that I need fixing with the firmware so what works, stays.

Thank you Mark and Mike!! I calibrated it and modified it in the EEPROM. I will try to run a new print after lunch and report back on the results.
