Apr 11, 2015 at 9:50 PM - Mike Kelly: How do I level? What's a z offset? Filament doesn't come out why? Mattercontrol doesn't print? Temp fall error? Wire broke why? Fan doesn't work? What?
    Apr 11, 2015 at 9:51 PM - jbigler1986: lmao. I know right. 1 question at a time

    Apr 11, 2015 at 9:57 PM - jbigler1986: it was a lot of measuring that's forsure
Apr 11, 2015 at 9:58 PM - Mike Kelly: your tool holder doesn't fit quite right
Apr 11, 2015 at 9:58 PM - Mike Glass: yea whats with that.
    Apr 11, 2015 at 9:59 PM - jbigler1986: think ass velcro strip

Apr 11, 2015 at 10:00 PM - Mike Glass: man this thing is coming together nice, all the parts fit perfect
Apr 11, 2015 at 10:00 PM - jbigler1986: good. that would suck if they didn't
Apr 11, 2015 at 10:01 PM - jbigler1986: Alright. I'm calling it a night. See ya guys tomorrow (or later today i should say :) )
Apr 11, 2015 at 10:01 PM - Mike Glass: pressing the bearing in was little tedious but went in with the vise
Apr 11, 2015 at 10:02 PM - Mike Kelly: http://i.imgur.com/AGWX7en.jpg Came out nice
Apr 11, 2015 at 10:02 PM - Mike Glass: okay nighty

    Apr 11, 2015 at 10:02 PM - Mike Kelly: 30mm/s though :\
Apr 11, 2015 at 10:02 PM - Mike Glass: really nice.
Apr 11, 2015 at 10:10 PM - Shank: if i put finer threads in for my Z axis what all would i have to change in the firmware
Apr 11, 2015 at 10:10 PM - Mike Kelly: Z steps per mm but why bother
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:03 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah there is no point in that. My threads on my rods are far from fine and my prints are amazing. No reason to get fine ones
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:04 AM - Bill Monroe: fine mighty fine....
    Apr 12, 2015 at 4:10 AM - jbigler1986: U are fine Bill
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:11 AM - Bill Monroe: why.. thank you <blush>
    Apr 12, 2015 at 4:12 AM - jbigler1986: Are you working again
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:12 AM - Bill Monroe: kinda... printing parts for my secret overlord carriage
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:13 AM - Bill Monroe: what you up to?
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:15 AM - jbigler1986: Not much right now. About to put this case on my pi and clean up my desk.
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:15 AM - Bill Monroe: I just want to say that, despite all the strife, hurt, and dissapointment we suffer thanks to the inept and disgraceful leadership that burdens our country these days, a brand new extruder tip can make everything better
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:17 AM - Bill Monroe: i was very dissapointed with Octoprint
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:19 AM - jbigler1986: I'm just using it for movements and to monitor. Not slicing with it or anything. I installed pronterface on it too
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:19 AM - Bill Monroe: pro pro pro pronterface.. (singing like Laday Gaga)
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:20 AM - Bill Monroe: I repurpossed my b+ into a reciever for ADS-B signals, and displaying the data on a monitor
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:22 AM - Bill Monroe: now I can see all the aircraft within a 600 mile radius, who they are, where they're going.. altitude, speed.. even the kind of plane they're flying
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:22 AM - Bill Monroe: i transmit the data real time to the flightaware web site and for that, get a free full access account
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:25 AM - jbigler1986: Look at you. I couldn't get into flying if I wanted too. My wife freaks out
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:26 AM - Bill Monroe: mine couldnt either... so I upgraded :)
    Apr 12, 2015 at 4:27 AM - jbigler1986: Lol. U bad man
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:27 AM - Bill Monroe: :) actually, there where thousands of other reasons, but that's a good as any
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:28 AM - jbigler1986: I keep trying to tell her that it's safer than a car but she won't listen
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:30 AM - Bill Monroe: i had a plane when we met... it wasnt till after we married she started in with the whining
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:31 AM - Bill Monroe: she knew aviation was a huge part of my life
    Apr 12, 2015 at 4:34 AM - jbigler1986: That's shitty
    Apr 12, 2015 at 4:35 AM - Bill Monroe: http://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t470/socalplanedoc/Bill 1_zpstpno1qnh.png
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:35 AM - Greg Sheets: Sorry to hear Bill, my wife is pushing me to get our next aircraft, something with FIKI
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:36 AM - Bill Monroe: see?/ the good ones are out there
    Apr 12, 2015 at 4:36 AM - Bill Monroe: http://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t470/socalplanedoc/BillampDad-1955_zpsbhdhe226.jpg
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:37 AM - Bill Monroe: there's my evidence... a lifetime of aviation interest
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:38 AM - Greg Sheets: my first airplane was a B17 built from tinker-toys
    Apr 12, 2015 at 4:40 AM - Bill Monroe:
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:44 AM - Bill Monroe: my wife actually helped me move all my machine shop and plane-related stuff into my new hanger, end didnt even flinch when she found out how much it cost
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:51 AM - Bill Monroe: I dunno Greg, FIKI is really hard to justify for personal planes...
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:51 AM - Bill Monroe: sometimes, it's best just to stay grounded :)
Apr 12, 2015 at 4:53 AM - Bill Monroe: then again, 9 months after I decided to wait out a storm, my youngest daughter was born :)
Apr 12, 2015 at 5:42 AM - Greg Sheets: I live in New England, 6 months of the year, I'm currently grounded due to icing conditions.
    Apr 12, 2015 at 5:45 AM - Bill Monroe: i get it
    Apr 12, 2015 at 5:46 AM - Bill Monroe: I had a 414 with FIKI.. uber pricey
Apr 12, 2015 at 5:48 AM - Bill Monroe: constant maintenance headache.. was glad to see it go
Apr 12, 2015 at 5:48 AM - Bill Monroe: loved the plane though
Apr 12, 2015 at 5:59 AM - Greg Sheets: I'm looking at C421 now, or maybe 414 too. Yes, I know the headache I'm walking into, but like to travel too
Apr 12, 2015 at 5:59 AM - Greg Sheets: off to morning errands, see ya latter..
Apr 12, 2015 at 6:00 AM - Bill Monroe: take care
    Apr 12, 2015 at 7:09 AM - jbigler1986: back
    Apr 12, 2015 at 7:11 AM - jbigler1986: Video was awesome
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:17 AM - jbigler1986: I need a wifi repeater. This damn wifi adapter is being way to stubborn on the pi
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:18 AM - Printed Solid: come on guys, I know some of you can troubleshoot: http://community.robo3d.com/index.p...via-filament-stops-extruding.5109/#post-44572
    Apr 12, 2015 at 7:19 AM - jbigler1986: hmmmm. Haven't looked at that yet. Now I will
    Apr 12, 2015 at 7:23 AM - jbigler1986: I put an answer a little. Do I win. Lol
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:24 AM - Printed Solid: nope
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:24 AM - Printed Solid: thanks for playing though.
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:24 AM - Printed Solid: My goal for that really is to get people to describe their process.
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:25 AM - jbigler1986: That's to much work at the moment. Lol
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:25 AM - Bill Monroe: I use an eight ball :)
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:25 AM - Printed Solid: Encourage people to be a bit more methodical about troubleshooting.
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:25 AM - Printed Solid: exactly Bill.
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:25 AM - jbigler1986: It seems that it's never the same issue
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:26 AM - Printed Solid: right. that's why you need a process.
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:26 AM - Bill Monroe: were you using retraction?
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:26 AM - Printed Solid: yes, but not the issue.
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:26 AM - Printed Solid: it was also in the first layer, so no retraction in the first layer.
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:26 AM - Bill Monroe: sometimes I think my stops are due to hot stuff pulling back and getting chilled
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:26 AM - jbigler1986: Also on that e3d ptfe post you did I'm pretty sure that was my issue when I was running bowden
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:27 AM - Bill Monroe: ok then maybe loose tip?
    Apr 12, 2015 at 7:27 AM - Printed Solid: ya. it's a good one.

    Apr 12, 2015 at 7:27 AM - jbigler1986: oozing
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:27 AM - Printed Solid: Nope. stop shotgunning. if you want to play, put your process up in the post.
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:28 AM - Bill Monroe: bah, that's no fun
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:28 AM - jbigler1986: On a serious note. I couldn't get the ptfe tube to get any lower though
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:28 AM - Printed Solid: haha.
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:28 AM - Printed Solid: Was the end cut square? I'm not really thrilled with the way my supplier cuts them, but I don't have time to go back and clean them all up.
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:28 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm running pla/pha righ now at 195 and getting more hair than is on my head
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:29 AM - Printed Solid: you said the same thing with XT. I'm running it at 210 on the hexagon with no hairing.
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:29 AM - jbigler1986: bowden works better on printers where the bed moves up instead of the extruder. That way you can feed it straight from above
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:29 AM - Printed Solid: Oh yeah, bowden is notorious for retraction issues.
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:30 AM - Bill Monroe: XT did it when it was way hot
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:30 AM - jbigler1986: I was going to order some xt until MG and others have had major warping issues with it
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:30 AM - Printed Solid: As good as my Ultimaker is, I always have to doa bit of cleanup at the end.
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:30 AM - Bill Monroe: id lower this down to 190 but I'm scared :)
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:30 AM - Printed Solid: what are you scared of?
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:31 AM - Printed Solid: worst thing that happens is you get underextrusion
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:31 AM - Bill Monroe: cloggin from too cold
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:31 AM - Printed Solid: so?
    Apr 12, 2015 at 7:31 AM - jbigler1986: it's just more work for u.
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:31 AM - Printed Solid: heat it back up and try again
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:31 AM - Bill Monroe: 4 hours into a 7 hour print.. rather clean the hairs than throw it away :)
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:31 AM - jbigler1986: It's not like you have anything else to do Bill. :p
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:32 AM - Printed Solid: Right. don't do it during a print.
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:32 AM - Printed Solid: If you really want perfect prints, you should be doing some calibration of every new spool of filament...
    Apr 12, 2015 at 7:32 AM - Bill Monroe: i do
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:32 AM - Printed Solid: not that I do this, but I also don't mind a bit of cleanup afterwards.
    Apr 12, 2015 at 7:32 AM - Bill Monroe: http://vaughnlive.tv/socalplanedoc
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:33 AM - jbigler1986: I had some sky blue that was hairy no matter what I tried.
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:33 AM - Bill Monroe: thought I had this one down but the layers changed to twin towers and the hairs started
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:34 AM - jbigler1986: Lowered temp, changed retraction, sped it up, sped up travel. nothing solved it
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:34 AM - Bill Monroe: i had a gf named sky.. she was hairy too
    Apr 12, 2015 at 7:34 AM - jbigler1986: no thank you
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:34 AM - Mike Glass: oh my
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:35 AM - Printed Solid: Bill it looks like you're air printing right now.
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:35 AM - Bill Monroe: yup
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:36 AM - Bill Monroe: tube pushed out of the drive
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:36 AM - Bill Monroe: should have kept it at 200
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:37 AM - jbigler1986: Gotta go get a wifi repeater in a few. I'm not spending anymore time on this damn wifi adapter
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:37 AM - Bill Monroe: amazing it can do that, i cant pull those tubes out
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:37 AM - Mike Glass: AIr printing is cheaper anyways, doesnt use as much filament.
    Apr 12, 2015 at 7:37 AM - jbigler1986: lol
    Apr 12, 2015 at 7:38 AM - jbigler1986: Linux annoys me sometimes
    Apr 12, 2015 at 7:38 AM - jbigler1986: Anyone here a linux guy?
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:39 AM - Bill Monroe: never
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:39 AM - Bill Monroe: I lik to be productive
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:39 AM - Printed Solid: My only experience with bowden is with the ultimaker, but I always run it quite a bit hotter than other machines just to keep that pressure as low as possible in the bowden.
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:39 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. there I went and tried to get rid of the hairs
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:39 AM - Printed Solid: having retraction speed really fast helps with stringing.
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:40 AM - Bill Monroe: that's my next tactic
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:40 AM - Printed Solid: run it as fast as you can without grinding.
    Apr 12, 2015 at 7:40 AM - jbigler1986: change multiplier to 100 ;)
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:43 AM - Bill Monroe: Matt, what's your comfort zone on retraction length?
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:43 AM - Mike Glass: I do linux all day JB
    Apr 12, 2015 at 7:44 AM - TechSupportGo: hello
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:44 AM - Mike Glass: HI Tech
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:45 AM - jbigler1986: fix this stupid wifi adapter for me then. It has everything installed for it. Shows up under lsusb but i can't get it enabled
    Apr 12, 2015 at 7:45 AM - jbigler1986: doesn't show up under network manager
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:45 AM - TechSupportGo: I just sold my trailer for $10k I am debating betewwn a new boat and that spider2 lol
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:46 AM - Mike Glass: boats, happiest day is the day your buy it and the day you sell it..lol
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:48 AM - TechSupportGo: haha I live 5 mins from the sabine intercoastal, there are islands full of gators, maybe the printer is safer
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:50 AM - Mike Glass: JB what is in /etc/network/interfaces
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:51 AM - Mike Glass: and what adapter is it.
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:51 AM - Bill Monroe: boats are money pits
    Apr 12, 2015 at 7:53 AM - Bill Monroe: My Boss's boat: http://leightstar.com/
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:56 AM - TechSupportGo: bill what was the name of that song? I tried to shasam it real quick but not long enough
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:56 AM - TechSupportGo: ahhha it was from the boat site nevermind!!
Apr 12, 2015 at 7:57 AM - Bill Monroe: Anna

Apr 12, 2015 at 7:58 AM - Bill Monroe: that boat is a nightmare.. but I get to play with his helicopter so, I like it :)
    Apr 12, 2015 at 7:59 AM - jbigler1986: one sec MG
    Apr 12, 2015 at 8:03 AM - jbigler1986: chipset is rtl8188cus
Apr 12, 2015 at 8:04 AM - TechSupportGo: That thing is HUGE  I am thinking more along the lines of a bass boat.. It looks cool though. I learned to fly a helo like that in Iraq
    Apr 12, 2015 at 8:05 AM - jbigler1986: i got it MG
Apr 12, 2015 at 8:05 AM - Bill Monroe: i flew UH1 in Da Nang.. that boat started life as a 115ft yacht for Louisiana Pacific built on a ferro minesweeping hull
    Apr 12, 2015 at 8:06 AM - jbigler1986: that's not a boat. that's a damn yaht
Apr 12, 2015 at 8:06 AM - Bill Monroe: then Howard got it, took it to a boatyard in Turkey, had it stretched to 155 ft and added a deck, becuase it wasnt big enough for his helicopter
    Apr 12, 2015 at 8:07 AM - jbigler1986: first world problems
Apr 12, 2015 at 8:07 AM - Bill Monroe: he's a horrible pilot, contantly in the dead man curve
Apr 12, 2015 at 8:07 AM - Bill Monroe: put two robinsons into the bay
Apr 12, 2015 at 8:08 AM - Bill Monroe: and you're right JB, it's a yacht.. that guy has more money than I can dream of.. but he's super generous
Apr 12, 2015 at 8:10 AM - Mike Glass: Jb did you install the drivers before you plugged it in?
    Apr 12, 2015 at 8:30 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah
Apr 12, 2015 at 8:30 AM - jbigler1986: I got it working. Go figure. I mess with it for like 2 hours then as soon as I ask for help I get it working
Apr 12, 2015 at 8:38 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
Apr 12, 2015 at 8:38 AM - Mike Kelly: JB I call that the rule of tech support, it doesn't work until you ask for help
    Apr 12, 2015 at 9:30 AM - jbigler1986: lol
Apr 12, 2015 at 9:30 AM - jbigler1986: done with the pi and new sleeving

Apr 12, 2015 at 9:34 AM - jbigler1986: maybe one day i will be happy enough with it and leave it alone. lol
Apr 12, 2015 at 9:34 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm trying to print sharkie for like the 4th time
Apr 12, 2015 at 9:34 AM - Mike Kelly: what's the fun in that
    Apr 12, 2015 at 9:34 AM - jbigler1986: beefy shark?
Apr 12, 2015 at 9:36 AM - Mike Kelly: left shark

Apr 12, 2015 at 9:37 AM - Mike Kelly: so after last nights success i'm thinking these settings might work
Apr 12, 2015 at 9:39 AM - jbigler1986: wish i had dual extrusion for that. wouldn't look right in 1 color
Apr 12, 2015 at 9:39 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah dual's are fun but irritating
    Apr 12, 2015 at 9:39 AM - jbigler1986: oh. it's more than one pice
Apr 12, 2015 at 9:40 AM - Mike Kelly: i really hope the bondtech v2 solves my under extrusion
    Apr 12, 2015 at 9:40 AM - jbigler1986: piece
Apr 12, 2015 at 9:40 AM - Mike Glass: I like ther person that cut it out an printed it seperate thats pretty cool.
Apr 12, 2015 at 9:41 AM - Mike Glass: cool video how to create the dual color.
    Apr 12, 2015 at 9:45 AM - jbigler1986: i think it's time for the pi tower
Apr 12, 2015 at 9:48 AM - Mike Kelly: this seemecnc blower puts out a considerable amount of air
    Apr 12, 2015 at 9:49 AM - jbigler1986: didn't know you got it yet
Apr 12, 2015 at 9:50 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i think i got it thursday
Apr 12, 2015 at 9:50 AM - Mike Kelly: hadn't had a chance to play with it yet
Apr 12, 2015 at 9:52 AM - jbigler1986: going with the smaller tower of pi. no reason to use filament on the big one
Apr 12, 2015 at 9:56 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.delta.com.tw/product/cp/dcfans/download/pdf/BFB/BFB30x30x10mm.pdf found the spec sheet
Apr 12, 2015 at 9:57 AM - Mike Glass: hmm not very high cfm
Apr 12, 2015 at 9:57 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i'm kinda surprised, it feels like more
Apr 12, 2015 at 9:58 AM - Mike Kelly: but the nice thing about blowers is you can duct it easier without much flow loss
Apr 12, 2015 at 9:58 AM - Mike Glass: probably more concentrated
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:00 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
    Apr 12, 2015 at 10:00 AM - jbigler1986: no
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:01 AM - Mike Kelly: no?
    Apr 12, 2015 at 10:03 AM - jbigler1986: just felt like disagreeing
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:04 AM - Printed Solid: a blower will put out good cfm even if restricted. The standard fans feel like they have high flow without restriction, but once you duct them, they can't handle the pressure drop.
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:08 AM - Wikid: Thats why I like Gentle Typhoon fans
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:10 AM - Mike Glass: My modeling skill are getting better but my vapor polishing needs some attention..lol http://imgur.com/a/BsIEp
    Apr 12, 2015 at 10:11 AM - jbigler1986: http://imgur.com/YXvHgR7
    Apr 12, 2015 at 10:11 AM - jbigler1986: Finally got it setup
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:12 AM - jbigler1986: Did you brush it on?
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:12 AM - Mike Glass: no Vapor
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:13 AM - Mike Glass: i tried to cold vapor, it doing nothing so put a little heat under it for 5 min and boom.
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:14 AM - Mike Glass: I should of printed them at least at .2 but wanted so see what would happen at .3 and vapor.
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:15 AM - Mike Glass: They are hermically sealed to the wood so no good anyway.. oh well.
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:16 AM - Wikid: What kind of setup are you using Glass to vapor, I wouldnt mind a cheap little setup to do that but I also dont want to burn my kitchen down
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:17 AM - Mike Glass: yea you want to do it outside, or in a big shop.
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:17 AM - Mike Glass: its nasty stuff heated up.
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:17 AM - Wikid: you mean inhaling that stuff isnt good for you........
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:18 AM - Wikid: figured it would at least give me some kind of superpower....
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:18 AM - Mike Glass: I just use two coffee cans, one with a hole in the bottom i put my propane torch directed into it. the the other one sits on top.
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:18 AM - Mike Glass: it will mess you up bad if you inhale it directly
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:19 AM - Wikid: yea no thanks
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:19 AM - Wikid: need a better/safer way to polish our parts
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:19 AM - Mike Glass: then I have a stainless steel pot i place the acetone in and set somehting to seperate them .
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:21 AM - Mike Glass: That was the first time I did it, I am making them on my cnc out of wood today instead.
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:21 AM - Mike Kelly: too much vapor
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:21 AM - Wikid: ah ok, your doing ABS vapor right?
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:22 AM - Mike Glass: yep abs.
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: cold vapor takes like a day
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:22 AM - Mike Glass: Mike they sat in there an hour did nothing then added a little heat..
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:22 AM - Mike Glass: ahh
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:22 AM - Wikid: Im gonna try to pick up some Hatchbox ABS from amazon see how bad it smells and how difficult to print
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:23 AM - Wikid: really?, the video I watched of Cold vapor for ABS he did in 5 hrs but had to replace the towles that carried the acetone
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:23 AM - Mike Glass: thats what this is hatchbox abs. I really like it, it does smell if you stick your nose right in the robo, but other than that it doesnt bother me.
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:23 AM - Mike Kelly: ok maybe 5 hours, but a while!
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:23 AM - Mike Kelly: i've never done it
    Apr 12, 2015 at 10:23 AM - Wikid: yea
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:23 AM - Wikid: not like heating it
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:24 AM - Mike Glass: I guess it would really depend on the outside temp though
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:24 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i usually just stick the part in for 2-3 seconds
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:24 AM - Mike Kelly: well it's more about vapor pressure
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:25 AM - Mike Kelly: it always seems like it should be easier to fit in fans, but it never is
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:25 AM - Wikid: I wonder if you could make something that vaporizes the ABS and then duct it over to another chamber with your part
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:25 AM - Mike Glass: I guess I had the lid on tight so probably plenty of pressure after 5 min.
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:25 AM - Mike Glass: Yea its called a steamer
    Apr 12, 2015 at 10:26 AM - Wikid: lol
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: i would advise against working with vaporized ABS
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:29 AM - Wikid: I was kinda sad, my printed case for my LCD pulled the corner up. now its special lol
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:31 AM - Wikid: is Hatchbox a good brand of ABS?
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:33 AM - Mike Glass: I like it, and sainsmart
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:34 AM - Mike Glass: Dont like sainsmart cheap filament reels though, they are just cardboard.
Apr 12, 2015 at 10:34 AM - Wikid: yea ill pobably just stick with Hatchbox
Apr 12, 2015 at 11:08 AM - Mike Kelly: carne adovada is like heaven in a burrito
Apr 12, 2015 at 11:09 AM - Mike Kelly: i picked up the harbor freight work bench
Apr 12, 2015 at 11:09 AM - Mike Kelly: hope it doesn't suck
    Apr 12, 2015 at 11:15 AM - jbigler1986: Damn jam
    Apr 12, 2015 at 11:16 AM - jbigler1986: Didn't check offset after I rotated my hotend
Apr 12, 2015 at 11:18 AM - Wikid: Anyone run Herringbone on their extruder?
    Apr 12, 2015 at 11:18 AM - Bill Monroe: i do
Apr 12, 2015 at 11:19 AM - Wikid: which ones did you print the ones ment for the Robo3d?
Apr 12, 2015 at 11:20 AM - Wikid: I need to reprint my large one due to it not running straight. one side of the gear has slop and the other doesnt
Apr 12, 2015 at 11:20 AM - Bill Monroe: i dont think so.. i made an external dual extruder.. let me see if I can find them
Apr 12, 2015 at 11:20 AM - Wikid: oh ok
    Apr 12, 2015 at 11:22 AM - Bill Monroe: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8m4o7fw4jjajxps/Chevron Gear - driven - Curved Spokes.STL?dl=0
Apr 12, 2015 at 11:23 AM - Bill Monroe: should fit, I didnt change the major dimensions
Apr 12, 2015 at 11:25 AM - Wikid: ah teeth go the otherway than what my current one goes
Apr 12, 2015 at 11:25 AM - Bill Monroe: stand by
    Apr 12, 2015 at 11:25 AM - Bill Monroe: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4juazf9xyhzskw3/MirrorChevron Gear - driven - Curved Spokes.STL?dl=0
Apr 12, 2015 at 11:31 AM - Wikid: hmm, will this fit the nut snug? what do you use on the stepper?
Apr 12, 2015 at 11:32 AM - Wikid: I just run the stock extruder the robo so not a whole lot of adjustment
Apr 12, 2015 at 11:32 AM - Bill Monroe: should fit the nut, I put the bolt head in the pocket
Apr 12, 2015 at 11:35 AM - Wikid: I may be wasting my time I think the bolt might have some bend to it
Apr 12, 2015 at 11:36 AM - Bill Monroe: that woul dbe pretty amazing
Apr 12, 2015 at 11:37 AM - Wikid: well most bolts arent the straightest
Apr 12, 2015 at 11:37 AM - Bill Monroe: i guess I buy better bolts than most
Apr 12, 2015 at 11:38 AM - Wikid: its just a mass produced bolt with hobbed teeth lol
Apr 12, 2015 at 11:48 AM - Wikid: what size screws did you guys use for the LCD controller?
    Apr 12, 2015 at 12:00 PM - Mike Kelly: m3
    Apr 12, 2015 at 12:02 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/ride-along-my-robo-3d it's looking good
    Apr 12, 2015 at 12:02 PM - Mike Glass: I used m4 on mine
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:03 PM - Wikid: Cool, im having an issue with the knob seating against the case, wont click

Apr 12, 2015 at 12:06 PM - Mike Glass: nice mike looks good
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:06 PM - Mike Glass: I had to cut the knob shorter
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:08 PM - Mike Glass: the shaft is was to long for some reason, but I found a differnt knob that worked better. THe new one I just got came with a knob.
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:14 PM - Wikid: mine didnt come with a knob, but the shaft is too short to bottom out on the shoulder
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:15 PM - Wikid: Figures all my M3 screws are too short
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:17 PM - Bill Monroe: I jabbed some stuff in the knobhole to make it less deep
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:18 PM - Bill Monroe: hehehhheheehe he said "knobhole"
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:19 PM - Wikid: brb off to get screws...
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:25 PM - Mike Kelly: http://hammerheadcustombuilders.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Post-Table-2.jpg any other ideas on how to make a similar style table
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:27 PM - Stephen Capistron: Mike, you watch the hockey game last night?
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:28 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:28 PM - Mike Kelly: well part of it
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:28 PM - Mike Kelly: went out
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:28 PM - Mike Kelly: unless you meant the NCAA game
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:28 PM - Mike Kelly: then yes i watched the end of that
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:29 PM - Stephen Capistron: Instead of having all the boards run in the same direction you could have each side be parallel with its respective side of the post and miter the corners
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:29 PM - Stephen Capistron: i meant the ncaa one
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:29 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah poor BU
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:29 PM - Mike Kelly: their goalie totally blew that one
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:29 PM - Stephen Capistron: My wife is a providence grad, so we were rooting for them
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:29 PM - Mike Kelly: nice
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:30 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah they were good and physical
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:30 PM - Stephen Capistron: what do you do if you are him? just become a hermit that lives off the grid out in the sticks?
    Apr 12, 2015 at 12:31 PM - Mike Kelly: http://i.imgur.com/odrVHEw.png
    Apr 12, 2015 at 12:31 PM - Mike Kelly: man i dunno
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:31 PM - Mike Kelly: poor guy
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:31 PM - Mike Kelly: how would you secure the mitered ends together
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:32 PM - Mike Glass: counter top joiners
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:32 PM - Mike Glass: or buscuits
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:32 PM - Stephen Capistron: I probably wouldn't. I'd have supports run out in each direction
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:34 PM - Stephen Capistron: I picture someone leaning on the table so biscuits might not be tough enough
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:38 PM - Mike Glass: with glue, stonger the nails
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:38 PM - Mike Glass: than
    Apr 12, 2015 at 12:38 PM - Mike Kelly: http://i.imgur.com/COXC5EX.png
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:38 PM - Mike Kelly: so like this?
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:39 PM - Mike Glass: I wouldnt go that route
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:39 PM - Stephen Capistron: eh. I'd do it like the original, but just add a couple going int he other direction
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:41 PM - Mike Glass: why miter. I like the original makes sense not week spots
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:41 PM - Stephen Capistron: notch the 2x4s and put a few screws in them with pocket holes
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:41 PM - Stephen Capistron: miter just looks a little better even though it is less practical
    Apr 12, 2015 at 12:47 PM - Mike Kelly: they're 2x8's
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:49 PM - Stephen Capistron: either way, notch them so it looks like a # from above
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:49 PM - Mike Kelly: gotcha i see what you're saying
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:49 PM - Stephen Capistron: i don't know why it took me so long to think of using #
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:50 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
Apr 12, 2015 at 12:50 PM - Stephen Capistron: and on that note, back outside to enjoy a beer and some sunshine

Apr 12, 2015 at 12:58 PM - jbigler1986: This ptfe tube is stuck. How the hell can I remove it
    Apr 12, 2015 at 12:59 PM - jbigler1986: Should I just force it out?
Apr 12, 2015 at 1:00 PM - Wikid: Kill it, kill it with fire!
Apr 12, 2015 at 1:02 PM - jbigler1986: Trying to pry it out. It's very tedious. Ugh
Apr 12, 2015 at 1:09 PM - Wikid: How has everyone mounted their LCDs?
Apr 12, 2015 at 1:23 PM - Mike Glass: All parts assembled. http://imgur.com/5yYgRI1
    Apr 12, 2015 at 1:28 PM - Wikid: Cool
Apr 12, 2015 at 1:37 PM - Wikid: Need some help with my LCD, the knob when I move it one notch it likes to do 2 moves and in the menu it takes mutiple moves to jump to the next listing
Apr 12, 2015 at 1:43 PM - jbigler1986: Hey MK or Matt. Do you know where I can get one of the black clip things that holds the ptfe tube in?
Apr 12, 2015 at 1:44 PM - jbigler1986: Mine chipped drilling out this clog and it doesn't hold the tube in.
Apr 12, 2015 at 1:45 PM - jbigler1986: I can glue the tube to the clip and that will due for now. But I need the clip
Apr 12, 2015 at 1:45 PM - Bill Monroe: JB Weld!
Apr 12, 2015 at 1:46 PM - Wikid: hot glue...
Apr 12, 2015 at 1:47 PM - Bill Monroe: sacrilidge

    Apr 12, 2015 at 1:48 PM - jbigler1986: Matt are you here
Apr 12, 2015 at 1:55 PM - Mike Kelly: that's the only place i know
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:07 PM - jbigler1986: Wonder if I could print one. How hot does the top of the heatsink get
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:08 PM - TechSupportGo: whats the best 40mm fan shrouds?
    Apr 12, 2015 at 2:08 PM - TechSupportGo: dual
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:08 PM - jbigler1986: Depends. I had a ton of them that would fit with my e3dv6. They sat to low
    Apr 12, 2015 at 2:09 PM - jbigler1986: Wouldn't fit
    Apr 12, 2015 at 2:11 PM - Mike Kelly: heatsink shouldn't get over 50C
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:13 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah it's always cool to the touch. Think I could print one
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:16 PM - Mike Kelly: well the clip has metal in it as well
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:20 PM - TechSupportGo: something i can print and use on my stock robor1
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:20 PM - Bill Monroe: negative.. I have some E3D clips on the desk in front om me right now.. no metal
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:22 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm pretty sure it's embedded metal
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:22 PM - Mike Kelly: i've never broken one, don't know for certain
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:23 PM - Bill Monroe: must be stainless.. no magnetic attraction
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:23 PM - Bill Monroe: for the design, and the price.. I'd say no metal
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:23 PM - Mike Kelly: generally ptc fittings have metal to give it a spring action for securing the tube
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:24 PM - Mike Kelly: but that was my understanding, could very well be all plastic
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:25 PM - Bill Monroe: it is.
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:27 PM - Shank: Hey I have a question. What would cause the printer to not extrude plastic when running a program but when in run the extruder manually it extrudes fine
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:28 PM - Mike Glass: WHat temp
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:28 PM - Bill Monroe: check and see if your slicer's filament diameter is greater than zero
    Apr 12, 2015 at 2:28 PM - Shank: 210 PLA
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:28 PM - Mike Kelly: what software
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:28 PM - Mike Glass: dont say it
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:29 PM - Mike Kelly: someone in cura set their esteps per mm to 1 and that stopped extrusion
    Apr 12, 2015 at 2:29 PM - Shank: mattercontrol
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:29 PM - Mike Glass: He said it
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:29 PM - Bill Monroe: yes he did
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:30 PM - Shank: the gear is turning
    Apr 12, 2015 at 2:30 PM - Mike Kelly: open terminal, send G1 E10 F100
    Apr 12, 2015 at 2:30 PM - Mike Kelly: fan's running?
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:30 PM - Bill Monroe: maybe he's running XT too :)
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:33 PM - Mike Glass: That hurts my ears bill
    Apr 12, 2015 at 2:33 PM - Bill Monroe: I'm sorry buddy..

    Apr 12, 2015 at 2:36 PM - Shank: yep
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:36 PM - jbigler1986: Screw it. I will just order a new heat sink. I don't feel like ducking with it

Apr 12, 2015 at 2:37 PM - Bill Monroe: i drilled one out and put a threaded one in once when it was late and I needed a print done.. it's still working
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:37 PM - jbigler1986: I had a classic one the other day. I meant to ask my wife if she was still getting pedis. It autocorrected and said penis
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:39 PM - Shank: would uploading the changed firmware have anything to do with it
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:40 PM - jbigler1986: Not unless you edited something else
    Apr 12, 2015 at 2:40 PM - Shank: nope
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:42 PM - jbigler1986: What is your extrusion multiplier set at
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:42 PM - Mike Kelly: delete your matter control profile and make a new one
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:43 PM - dbvanhorn: Linux Question: Why would Cura be trying to connect to the printer for hours..? Is there some other intermediary that I need?
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:46 PM - Shank: the extrusion multiplier is in the firmware right/
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:46 PM - Mike Kelly: i don't think it has to do with that
    Apr 12, 2015 at 2:47 PM - Shank: made a new profile
    Apr 12, 2015 at 2:49 PM - Shank: G1 E10 F100 had no change with new profile
    Apr 12, 2015 at 2:52 PM - Bill Monroe: E10?
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:53 PM - Shank: thats what mike kelly typed above
    Apr 12, 2015 at 2:53 PM - Mike Kelly: Send G91 then G1 E10
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:53 PM - Mike Kelly: and does terminal give any errors?
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:55 PM - Shank: that made the extruder run
Apr 12, 2015 at 2:55 PM - Shank: no errors
Apr 12, 2015 at 3:05 PM - Mike Kelly: Ok so is it good?
Apr 12, 2015 at 3:06 PM - Shank: starting a print now to see if it is working
Apr 12, 2015 at 3:08 PM - Shank: that would be a yes..thanks for the help
Apr 12, 2015 at 3:16 PM - jbigler1986: What size drill bit would be ok to drill out e3d heat break
    Apr 12, 2015 at 3:17 PM - Mike Kelly: heatbreak is 2mm
Apr 12, 2015 at 3:17 PM - jbigler1986: I need to drill out the smallest part in the middle
Apr 12, 2015 at 3:18 PM - jbigler1986: Top and bottom are clear. It's jammed where it gets smaller
    Apr 12, 2015 at 3:23 PM - Bill Monroe: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4qhdo4m3lztp1me/IMG_2647.JPG?dl=0
    Apr 12, 2015 at 3:29 PM - jbigler1986: Think I got it.
Apr 12, 2015 at 3:34 PM - jbigler1986: Here was my solution. I took the hotend apart. Put the nozzle and heat break on. Left the heatsink off. Then I heated the nozzle up to 220. Then I got tweezers and I jammed it in the filament and twisted it a little. I got enough space where I could scrape it upwards. Then I got enough where I could grab it with the tweezers. I could then pull it out. That was a pain
    Apr 12, 2015 at 3:34 PM - Bill Monroe: <applause>

Apr 12, 2015 at 3:44 PM - dbvanhorn: any ideas for why cura cant find my printer in linux?
Apr 12, 2015 at 3:44 PM - Bill Monroe: i'm sure it looks good, i want to see hoe it runs in this shitmera nozzle
    Apr 12, 2015 at 3:44 PM - jbigler1986: Lol

    Apr 12, 2015 at 3:46 PM - jbigler1986: Printed fine with e3d though
Apr 12, 2015 at 3:49 PM - jbigler1986: One had like a bug or something in it. Other than that no issues

Apr 13, 2015 at 7:04 AM - Mike Glass: lol
Apr 13, 2015 at 7:05 AM - Bill Monroe: hey, I often resemble that remark
    Apr 13, 2015 at 7:05 AM - Bill Monroe: <jotting that down>
    Apr 13, 2015 at 7:06 AM - Mike Glass: I may not be a Billionaire but when I fly im a Bill-in-the-Air..
Apr 13, 2015 at 7:13 AM - Mike Kelly: reg sticky: it might help but a lot of people stick with MC
Apr 13, 2015 at 7:16 AM - jbigler1986: yes. but at least they would have the correct firmware and I might stop seeing all of the z height threads
Apr 13, 2015 at 7:17 AM - Mike Kelly: some printers are actually shipping with 5/16" rods...
    Apr 13, 2015 at 7:18 AM - jbigler1986: new ones? wtf
Apr 13, 2015 at 7:20 AM - Mike Kelly: unfortunately
Apr 13, 2015 at 7:24 AM - Mike Glass: Thats awesome
Apr 13, 2015 at 7:25 AM - jbigler1986: wow. hmmm. well what about suggesting to print 10mm cube first and if it's short then they probably need the 8mm firmware
Apr 13, 2015 at 7:25 AM - jbigler1986: something along those lines. We need a good way for "noobs" to test what rods they have
Apr 13, 2015 at 7:26 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Apr 13, 2015 at 7:26 AM - Mike Kelly: pretty easy to count threads per 1in

Apr 13, 2015 at 7:35 AM - Mike Kelly: it's impossible to remove without breaking a foot though
Apr 13, 2015 at 7:35 AM - Mike Kelly: oh well
Apr 13, 2015 at 7:35 AM - Mike Kelly: it printed and i'm happy
    Apr 13, 2015 at 7:37 AM - Mike Glass: breaking a foot?
Apr 13, 2015 at 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: the leg breaks
Apr 13, 2015 at 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: when it pops off
Apr 13, 2015 at 7:41 AM - Shank: have you tried using painters tape? then all you are fighting, when remove the part is the tapes adhesive to the bed.
    Apr 13, 2015 at 7:46 AM - Mike Kelly: i use a printinz plate
Apr 13, 2015 at 7:46 AM - jbigler1986: stop putting super glue on the bed MK
Apr 13, 2015 at 7:46 AM - Mike Kelly: i need to increase my z offset a hair
    Apr 13, 2015 at 7:47 AM - jbigler1986: :p
    Apr 13, 2015 at 7:56 AM - Mike Kelly: i kinda hope bondtech makes a 6mm version
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:05 AM - jbigler1986: just because you want it that means they won't make it now. jk
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:05 AM - jbigler1986: did u see the tower of pi. looked good
    Apr 13, 2015 at 8:07 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm no i haven't yet

    Apr 13, 2015 at 8:09 AM - jbigler1986: now i'm confident in whatever i throw at it.
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:10 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah you've tuned that thing in well, just gotta fight stringing
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:10 AM - Mike Kelly: have you tried the deprime object?
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:12 AM - jbigler1986: i haven't. That cube I printed and my pi case had none at all
    Apr 13, 2015 at 8:13 AM - jbigler1986: same settings
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:14 AM - Mike Kelly: there are some really bizarre posts on google+ communities
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:15 AM - jbigler1986: maybe it's retraction. Those other parts really didn't have any and the tower had tons
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:15 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah retraction is what causes stringing
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:15 AM - Mike Kelly: whats your non-print movement speeds
    Apr 13, 2015 at 8:16 AM - jbigler1986: i think i bumped it up to 150% because i'm printing at 2400mm/m
    Apr 13, 2015 at 8:16 AM - jbigler1986: i can double check in a few
    Apr 13, 2015 at 8:16 AM - Mike Kelly: 150mm/s?
    Apr 13, 2015 at 8:17 AM - jbigler1986: no. S3D does a percentage of our print speed
    Apr 13, 2015 at 8:18 AM - jbigler1986: I wanted it faster than 40mm/s so that's why i did above 100%
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:18 AM - Mike Kelly: uh no it doesn't
    Apr 13, 2015 at 8:19 AM - Mike Kelly: http://i.imgur.com/BxaNQ6e.png
    Apr 13, 2015 at 8:21 AM - jbigler1986: mine is at 6000mm/m
    Apr 13, 2015 at 8:21 AM - Mike Kelly: also tools > Options > Speed display units > mm/s
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:21 AM - Mike Kelly: quit this mm/m nonsense
    Apr 13, 2015 at 8:21 AM - jbigler1986: lol
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:21 AM - jbigler1986: could probably increase it some more
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:22 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah do like 120
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:22 AM - Mike Kelly: faster movements help with stringing
    Apr 13, 2015 at 8:23 AM - jbigler1986: printing at 35mm/s not 40mm/s. my bad
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:23 AM - Mike Kelly: aren't you glad you changed?
    Apr 13, 2015 at 8:24 AM - jbigler1986: ?
    Apr 13, 2015 at 8:24 AM - jbigler1986: oh. yeah. lol
    Apr 13, 2015 at 8:29 AM - jbigler1986: Screw you Target. uggggggg
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:34 AM - Mike Kelly: lol what
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:35 AM - jbigler1986: They are just morons and don't know how to enter our items into their system so they have them all screwed up. Now I gotta baby step them
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:36 AM - Mike Kelly: gotcha
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:36 AM - jbigler1986: Over half of our stuff was showing out of stock due to their failures
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:42 AM - Mike Kelly: i wish i had a new printer so i could make videos for it
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:43 AM - jbigler1986: i was thinking the same thing last night
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:43 AM - Mike Glass: YOu didnt get it yet MIke
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:45 AM - jbigler1986: Did Braydon email you before he sent the shirt or did he just send it
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:48 AM - Mike Glass: not sure, we had serveral emails back n forth.
    Apr 13, 2015 at 8:48 AM - jbigler1986: ahh
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:49 AM - Mike Kelly: this is fun
    Apr 13, 2015 at 8:49 AM - jbigler1986: wonder why printed doesn't really have any v6 parts
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:50 AM - Mike Kelly: and no i haven't gotten anything or heard anything more about it
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:52 AM - jbigler1986: if you do end up getting it it's gonna be hard for you to not mod it. resist the urge
    Apr 13, 2015 at 8:52 AM - Mike Glass: sigh ringe..lol
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:53 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah that was one of the conditions :)
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:54 AM - Mike Glass: that is a cool engine
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:54 AM - Mike Kelly: right?
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:54 AM - Mike Kelly: ludic does some fun videos
Apr 13, 2015 at 9:13 AM - Wikid: Go make a SpiderV2 MK then you can make videos on building one and modding it
Apr 13, 2015 at 9:18 AM - Mike Glass: you woudnt need to mod it :)
Apr 13, 2015 at 9:22 AM - jbigler1986: The only reason I would want a different printer right now would be to have more build volume
Apr 13, 2015 at 9:33 AM - Mike Glass: WHy? what do you need to build bigger? Rims for your car..lol
    Apr 13, 2015 at 9:33 AM - jbigler1986: I don't. Just saying that's the only reason why I would if I did
Apr 13, 2015 at 9:34 AM - Mike Glass: I would like taller for sure, but a delta may be what I really want.
Apr 13, 2015 at 9:35 AM - Mike Glass: Actually looking into using a server rack for a printer frame, that would be a huge build platform.
Apr 13, 2015 at 9:37 AM - jbigler1986: if you removed the case you could just get longer smooth rods and lead screws on the robo couldn't you?
Apr 13, 2015 at 9:38 AM - jbigler1986: would need a way to stabilize them though
Apr 13, 2015 at 9:42 AM - Mike Glass: Yea I would use 10mm rods anyways
Apr 13, 2015 at 9:50 AM - Stephen Capistron: everyone know you should go to 11
Apr 13, 2015 at 9:59 AM - jbigler1986: anyone know where to get cheap e3dv6 heatsink
Apr 13, 2015 at 10:06 AM - Mike Glass: Walmart?
Apr 13, 2015 at 10:08 AM - jbigler1986: lol. make one out of foil
Apr 13, 2015 at 10:14 AM - Mike Glass: I could mill you one.
Apr 13, 2015 at 10:14 AM - Mike Glass: out of playdoh
    Apr 13, 2015 at 10:15 AM - jbigler1986: please do
Apr 13, 2015 at 10:18 AM - Mike Glass: does M565 only work when you use autolevel?
    Apr 13, 2015 at 10:19 AM - jbigler1986: not sure
    Apr 13, 2015 at 10:19 AM - jbigler1986: brb
Apr 13, 2015 at 10:19 AM - Stephen Capistron: build one?
    Apr 13, 2015 at 10:19 AM - Stephen Capistron: http://www.mcmaster.com/#hollow-screws/=wqili7
Apr 13, 2015 at 10:20 AM - Stephen Capistron: they are steel and not aluminum
Apr 13, 2015 at 10:22 AM - jbigler1986: I think foil would be better though
Apr 13, 2015 at 10:22 AM - jbigler1986: Foil and jb Weld. Done
Apr 13, 2015 at 10:25 AM - jbigler1986: What is the best temp to print whipped cream?
Apr 13, 2015 at 10:27 AM - JeffTheMess: cheese wiz now whipped cream!?
    Apr 13, 2015 at 10:28 AM - jbigler1986: Uh yeah.
Apr 13, 2015 at 10:28 AM - jbigler1986: Enough fooling around for me.
Apr 13, 2015 at 10:29 AM - JeffTheMess: room temp most likely and the bed would have to be very cold to stick and not melt it
Apr 13, 2015 at 10:36 AM - Stephen Capistron: duct some dry ice or LN2 through your cooling fans too
Apr 13, 2015 at 10:37 AM - JeffTheMess: ice cream would have been a better choice here people
Apr 13, 2015 at 10:38 AM - Stephen Capistron: dual print head, ice cream for support structure and whipped cream as the other?

    Apr 13, 2015 at 10:45 AM - jbigler1986: now I want ice cream
Apr 13, 2015 at 10:51 AM - jbigler1986: My next project will be an enclosure so I can print abs and stuff without it being a warping nightmare
    Apr 13, 2015 at 10:53 AM - JeffTheMess: have fun :D
Apr 13, 2015 at 10:55 AM - jbigler1986: not gonna be for like a month or 2 though
Apr 13, 2015 at 10:56 AM - JeffTheMess: I'll be interested in see it it has to be warm in there
Apr 13, 2015 at 10:57 AM - jbigler1986: Gotta make a few trips to my in laws
Apr 13, 2015 at 10:58 AM - JeffTheMess: I just dealt with that....situation and will again starting Friday yay -_-
Apr 13, 2015 at 10:59 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah. Usually not the most fun.
Apr 13, 2015 at 11:14 AM - Mike Glass: anybody set up their robo to print mutiple objects and use one at a time settings?
    Apr 13, 2015 at 11:16 AM - jbigler1986: nope. can't figure it out on S3D
Apr 13, 2015 at 11:17 AM - Mike Glass: I have a bunch of small parts to duplicate and wont work without doing it one at a time.
Apr 13, 2015 at 11:17 AM - JeffTheMess: all depends on spacing them out right
Apr 13, 2015 at 11:18 AM - Mike Glass: Yea, just wanted to check, guess have to figure it out.
Apr 13, 2015 at 11:22 AM - Stephen Capistron: i know cura has that feature and you might have better luck finding a guide using that versus S3D
Apr 13, 2015 at 11:36 AM - Mike Glass: Ok that wasnt to bad to figure out. I have the dual fans so can only do 6 parts at a time. better then one at a time.
Apr 13, 2015 at 11:38 AM - Bill Monroe: have you ever taken a dump so big your pants fit better?
Apr 13, 2015 at 11:48 AM - Mike Glass: at lease once a week:)
Apr 13, 2015 at 11:49 AM - Bill Monroe: oh man, almost nothing feels as good :)
    Apr 13, 2015 at 11:49 AM - Bill Monroe: i wanna take a nap now :)
Apr 13, 2015 at 11:49 AM - Bill Monroe: but, I'm off to Frys
    Apr 13, 2015 at 11:50 AM - Mike Glass: Ok I need a Pi2 please
Apr 13, 2015 at 11:51 AM - Bill Monroe: do they have them?
Apr 13, 2015 at 11:51 AM - Bill Monroe: last time I was there I was looking for Xbees.. every package had been plundered....
Apr 13, 2015 at 11:52 AM - Mike Glass: I think Jb just got one there
Apr 13, 2015 at 11:59 AM - Mike Glass: man I wish I could fix this issue with the placing objects on the bed, for some reason its off about one inch to what you see in Cura, or any slicer.
    Apr 13, 2015 at 11:59 AM - jbigler1986: yes i did
    Apr 13, 2015 at 12:00 PM - jbigler1986: B+
Apr 13, 2015 at 12:00 PM - Bill Monroe: i avoid anything unix
Apr 13, 2015 at 12:20 PM - Shank: is there any tutorials out there to learn the firmware?
Apr 13, 2015 at 12:26 PM - Mike Glass: arduino?
Apr 13, 2015 at 12:27 PM - Shank: for the robo, just trying to learn more about my printer as fast as possible, really want to get to the point where I can have a dual extruder
Apr 13, 2015 at 12:45 PM - Mike Glass: That would be arduio
    Apr 13, 2015 at 12:45 PM - Mike Glass: or arduino http://www.arduino.cc/
Apr 13, 2015 at 12:49 PM - Shank: will that help me understand the layout of the firmware, I know the basics of arduino. I own a uno and two megas and am working on making a quadcopter
Apr 13, 2015 at 12:50 PM - Shank: so the basics I know, I'm having troubles understand the layout and the #define mapping
Apr 13, 2015 at 12:52 PM - JeffTheMess: Arduino is just a bridge from a software like MG fav software mattercontrol to controlling the motors, knowing the how to use gcode is what you may want to explore more
Apr 13, 2015 at 12:53 PM - Stephen Capistron: it sounds like what you might want to read up on is Marlin. That is what is loaded onto the robo
Apr 13, 2015 at 12:53 PM - Stephen Capistron: with a few edits made by robo
    Apr 13, 2015 at 12:53 PM - Stephen Capistron: http://reprap.org/wiki/Marlin
Apr 13, 2015 at 12:56 PM - Shank: I know g code from running cnc's. I need to know the custom ones for the robo though
Apr 13, 2015 at 12:58 PM - Shank: which was on that website, so now I know
Apr 13, 2015 at 1:00 PM - JeffTheMess: For you rich folks http://www.backupbatterypower.com/p...m=cpc&utm_source=googlepla&variant=1251961767
Apr 13, 2015 at 1:05 PM - Mike Glass: haha really for the Robo.
Apr 13, 2015 at 1:06 PM - Mike Glass: mines on a costco triplitte ups
Apr 13, 2015 at 1:06 PM - Mike Glass: oh and Jeff "suck it" for the MC comment..lol
    Apr 13, 2015 at 1:22 PM - jbigler1986: back
    Apr 13, 2015 at 1:23 PM - jbigler1986: hmmmm
Apr 13, 2015 at 1:28 PM - jbigler1986: That backup power is way overkill
Apr 13, 2015 at 1:29 PM - jbigler1986: Doesn't even say how long it runs
Apr 13, 2015 at 2:09 PM - Bill Monroe: OK, today... Frys suz
Apr 13, 2015 at 2:09 PM - Bill Monroe: err
Apr 13, 2015 at 2:09 PM - Bill Monroe: sux
    Apr 13, 2015 at 2:10 PM - jbigler1986: why
Apr 13, 2015 at 2:11 PM - jbigler1986: out of stock of what you need?
Apr 13, 2015 at 2:11 PM - Bill Monroe: exactly
Apr 13, 2015 at 2:11 PM - jbigler1986: worst is when you check online then you go there and they don't have it
Apr 13, 2015 at 2:12 PM - Bill Monroe: that, and the obese pimple-laden slobs that are too fat to tuck in their shirt or snug up their ties chasing me around so they can "write-up" a puchase they had nothing to do with
Apr 13, 2015 at 2:13 PM - Bill Monroe: i got a little roll of makerbot natural to try
Apr 13, 2015 at 2:14 PM - toy: how good are these http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/291412825274?lpid=82&chn=ps ... i need to order 2 hobbed gears and not sure what to get...
Apr 13, 2015 at 2:15 PM - Bill Monroe: dunno, i dont do direct drive
    Apr 13, 2015 at 2:18 PM - jbigler1986: that shit is expensive
    Apr 13, 2015 at 2:18 PM - jbigler1986: like $24 for a tiny roll
    Apr 13, 2015 at 2:21 PM - Bill Monroe: i paid 13
    Apr 13, 2015 at 2:22 PM - Bill Monroe: cheaper than a .4 nozzle from E3D :)
Apr 13, 2015 at 2:23 PM - Bill Monroe: wait.. Marlin supports SCARA???
    Apr 13, 2015 at 2:33 PM - jbigler1986: I wouldn't buy from e3d unless it was a must
Apr 13, 2015 at 2:34 PM - Bill Monroe: well Matt is out
Apr 13, 2015 at 2:39 PM - Bill Monroe: i should set the screw machine up at work to run off a couple thousand of them
    Apr 13, 2015 at 2:49 PM - Mike Glass: I like my ends I bought for $12 for 4.
    Apr 13, 2015 at 2:50 PM - Bill Monroe: running them in a V6?
Apr 13, 2015 at 2:53 PM - Mike Glass: nope but they would fit.
Apr 13, 2015 at 2:56 PM - jbigler1986: Where did you buy them
    Apr 13, 2015 at 2:57 PM - jbigler1986: http://imgur.com/6zYscrv It finished
Apr 13, 2015 at 2:59 PM - Mike Glass: haha I thought it was big..lol
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:00 PM - Mike Glass: now burn that sucka
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:00 PM - jbigler1986: Can't. My son stole it for his gems. Lol. I could have printed a bigger one but no need
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:01 PM - Mike Glass: amazingzon is where I got the end, remember I had to mill the shafts longer.
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:01 PM - Mike Glass: I used the .2 to build the Mini Robo.
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:02 PM - Mike Glass: I want to do the nano but dont have any white pla yet, just the xt, and that...well...
    Apr 13, 2015 at 3:04 PM - jbigler1986: Haha. That's your favorite
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:05 PM - Mike Glass: I should get a refund from them.
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:08 PM - jbigler1986: What should I print. Thinking about a wrench for my socket for my nozzle
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:08 PM - jbigler1986: I just use the ratchet to break it loose. Then I use just the socket
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:08 PM - Mike Glass: yea lot a good that will do
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:09 PM - Mike Glass: it has to be hot
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:10 PM - jbigler1986: Doesn't transfer that much heat. I can grab the socket right after I break it loose without an issue
    Apr 13, 2015 at 3:11 PM - jbigler1986: I don't let it sit there forever
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:12 PM - jbigler1986: As soon as I break it loose usually get temp failure and it shuts off
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:17 PM - Bradf80: Got my Z axis stepper driver in today. Installed and printing out a calibration box as we speak. The new stepper driver was made a year later than the one I removed. Hopefully all is well!
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:18 PM - jbigler1986: Your stepper itself was bad
    Apr 13, 2015 at 3:18 PM - Bradf80: The stepper driver board
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:19 PM - Bill Monroe: i could never get the white XT to work well
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:20 PM - Bill Monroe: but the black was amaaaazing.. until I switched to Chimera
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:20 PM - Bill Monroe: now, nothing but Blue Shaxon works
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:22 PM - Bill Monroe: i'm draining my jacuzzi and letting it run down the gutter.. wonder if one of my vigilante neighbors will rat me out? :)
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:27 PM - Mike Glass: why not use it water the lawn
    Apr 13, 2015 at 3:29 PM - Bill Monroe: lawn? what's that?
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:30 PM - Bill Monroe: i live in southern california, only the wealthy have lawns... for now...

Apr 13, 2015 at 3:31 PM - Bill Monroe: all my other plants are drought tolerant and above the jacuzzi.. i'm not going to buy a pump to do what gravity can do for free :)
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:32 PM - Bill Monroe: besides, I like telling the old biddies that act like the neighborhood sheriff to go suck a big one.
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:33 PM - Bill Monroe: although, I could print a pump I 'spose.. using MC with XT maybe? :)
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:38 PM - Bradf80: Z axis stepper driver board replaced, here's the test box results. http://i.imgur.com/5D4I4bB.jpg
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:45 PM - Mike Glass: looks good Brad. hey Bill :p
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:47 PM - jbigler1986: Now you just need to fix your ribbing/artifacts
    Apr 13, 2015 at 3:49 PM - Mike Glass: http://imgur.com/MILVorH
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:49 PM - Mike Glass: I dont see any z ribbing there?
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:50 PM - Mike Glass: Corners look sharp as hell.
    Apr 13, 2015 at 3:55 PM - jbigler1986: What r u talking about MG
    Apr 13, 2015 at 3:56 PM - jbigler1986: R u saying that to your pics or brads?
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:56 PM - Mike Glass: brads
    Apr 13, 2015 at 3:56 PM - jbigler1986: Zoom in on it
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:57 PM - jbigler1986: Corners look good. Layers have ribbing or over/under extrusion
Apr 13, 2015 at 3:58 PM - Mike Glass: looks more like heating and layer adhesion, looks a little dry.
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:00 PM - Bill Monroe: why does this sound like the three bears?
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:00 PM - Bill Monroe: "to me it's JUST right"
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:01 PM - Bradf80: I have the temp at 195, I could heat it up some more to say 200, this is a new batch of hatchbox filament so I haven't had alot of time to mess with it.
    Apr 13, 2015 at 4:01 PM - jbigler1986: Lol
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:02 PM - jbigler1986: Am I the only one seeing it
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:03 PM - Bradf80: Printing out a new spool holder as we speak. I'll see what it looks like when the one side is done.
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:03 PM - Mike Glass: Do you have dual fans Brad?
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:03 PM - jbigler1986: Try to raise the temp. To see if the layers bond better
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:05 PM - jbigler1986: His looks just like mine use to. Z artifacts or over extrusion
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:06 PM - Bradf80: Single stock fan Mike. I run it at 60% speed, could that be an issue?
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:06 PM - jbigler1986: Yes. Crank it up. PLA loves cooling
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:06 PM - jbigler1986: Need dual fans for PLA. It will really help
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:06 PM - Bradf80: No not the fan, the whole machine sorry should have been more clear lol
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:07 PM - Bradf80: I have a box fan near the printer I usually run I could turn that sucker on high
    Apr 13, 2015 at 4:07 PM - jbigler1986: Let's see. Stock is 60mm/s so 60 percent is good
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:07 PM - Mike Glass: needs its more for the part not the bed
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:08 PM - Mike Glass: if your bed cools to much it could pop off
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:08 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah. Next I would print dual fans
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:08 PM - Bradf80: ahh gotcha, I'm not big into mods like you guys though lol I'll think about it
    Apr 13, 2015 at 4:09 PM - jbigler1986: It helps a lot with PLA
    Apr 13, 2015 at 4:09 PM - jbigler1986: Modding? What is that
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:10 PM - Bradf80: I don't plan on using PLA alot, is it needed for ABS and other materials as well? The PLA is more of my practice material.
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:10 PM - jbigler1986: ABS is no fan at all.
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:10 PM - Bradf80: lol you guys are like Ford Mustang owners, the whole engine and every part under the hood could be "upgraded" but you would call it "stock" =P
    Apr 13, 2015 at 4:11 PM - jbigler1986: Other materials it varies
    Apr 13, 2015 at 4:11 PM - Bradf80: Gotcha
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:12 PM - jbigler1986: I can't get ABS to not warp though. Although I haven't put a ton of effort into it
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:12 PM - Bradf80: Sometimes the autolevel starts too high and I usually manually adjust the print closer to the bed, there a fix for that or maybe I need to calibrate something?
    Apr 13, 2015 at 4:13 PM - jbigler1986: Paper level it
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:14 PM - Bradf80: Hunt the forums for the how to? =P
    Apr 13, 2015 at 4:14 PM - jbigler1986: I posted the steps a few times
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:14 PM - jbigler1986: Search paper and see what you get
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:17 PM - jbigler1986: If I was on my pc I would give you the steps really quick
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:18 PM - jbigler1986: Let me know if you can't find it
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:21 PM - Bradf80: on the road now I'll look it up when I get home

    Apr 13, 2015 at 4:24 PM - Bill Monroe: who's filament?
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:24 PM - Mike Glass: hatchboxy
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:24 PM - Bill Monroe: the makerbot natural looks like monofilament fishing line
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:24 PM - Bill Monroe: when it lays down on the bed
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:25 PM - Bill Monroe: jb what size nozzle?
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:25 PM - Bill Monroe: you make me sick, by the way
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:26 PM - jbigler1986: .4 sorry Bill. Might as well get it as perfect as possible. There were like 3 strings. Trying to see if I can get 0
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:27 PM - Bill Monroe: ok you use S3D yes?
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:27 PM - jbigler1986: Yes. Gonna print one more then try it on shaxon since I have like 12 spools of that
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:27 PM - Bill Monroe: what do you use for extrusion multiplier and width? retract distance?
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:28 PM - Bill Monroe: inquiring minds want to know :)
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:28 PM - Bill Monroe: mind sharing your fff?

Apr 13, 2015 at 4:37 PM - Bill Monroe: man, I sure hope the rest of this print is as good as the first layer... it's awesome, looks clear as water
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:37 PM - jbigler1986: Is it pla or abs
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:39 PM - Bill Monroe: PLA
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:39 PM - Bill Monroe: makerbot from Frys
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:41 PM - jbigler1986: I almost got some a few weeks ago. Could pay the price though for like .2 kg
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:42 PM - Bill Monroe: this was cheap.. 13 bux for the little roll.. worth it to give it a try
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:42 PM - Bill Monroe: YAY! son and his fiance' are moving in with me!!!

Apr 13, 2015 at 4:47 PM - jbigler1986: They need drills too. Or at least instructors
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:47 PM - Bill Monroe: well he might have gone to the school.. you lknow how that is.. but he's always done computer stuff
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:48 PM - Bill Monroe: hell, I flew UH1B but they sent me to sniper school
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:48 PM - jbigler1986: That will help for a civilian job for sure. Army is shrinking smaller and smaller. Navy and Air Force is getting bigger though
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:48 PM - Bill Monroe: they're funny that way
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:49 PM - jbigler1986: Yep. They don't make sense in a lot of decisions they make

Apr 13, 2015 at 4:53 PM - Droid: question, so if I got the stud thermisor for my e3d v6 I dont need to change firmware?
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:54 PM - Bill Monroe: i wonder if this filament is working so good becuase it's fresh out of the dessicated vacuum pack?
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:54 PM - Bill Monroe: dunno.. can you put one on if in ever hand on before? mine use the one that goes in the hole
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:55 PM - jbigler1986: No need to change anything. Just don't go above 260
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:56 PM - jbigler1986: I broke mine because I went over by mistake. Have my thermosistor plugged into my fan connection. So it was reading temp. Let's just say that baby was smoking
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:56 PM - Droid: mine came with option of studded thermisor, from what I read I dont need to mod firmware, just want to know if thats up to date info
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:57 PM - jbigler1986: Yes. No need to change anything
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:58 PM - Droid: can I wire the hot end fan into current fan wire or does it need to go to constant 12v
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:58 PM - Bill Monroe: constant
Apr 13, 2015 at 4:59 PM - Bill Monroe: it should always run.. the parts fan goes to.. ummm D9 I think for single extruders
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:00 PM - Droid: ok need to go to hareware store for 9/32 drill bit
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:00 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah having to wire the E3dv6 is annoying. But it's universal so they kinda had to make it that way
    Apr 13, 2015 at 5:01 PM - jbigler1986: R u following Mike Kelly guide?
    Apr 13, 2015 at 5:02 PM - Droid: yeah
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:03 PM - Droid: I know I saw it somewhere about checking hot end ohms....
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:03 PM - Bill Monroe: <touching middle finger tip to thumb> ohm.... ohm.....
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:06 PM - jbigler1986: You do need to make a change for the e3d.
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:06 PM - jbigler1986: It's not for the threaded thermosistor specifically though
    Apr 13, 2015 at 5:07 PM - Droid: ?
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:09 PM - Bill Monroe: I'll bet I could bury a couple of colored LEDs in this material and make the parts lightup like a disco
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:11 PM - Droid: Note: If you are using the stud thermistor from printedsolid.com, no firmware changes are required because the EPCOS thermistor it comes with is the same as on the stock Hexagon
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:11 PM - Droid: this is exactly what I got
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:12 PM - Bill Monroe: I got a stud thermistor once but it blew as soon as I picked it up
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:12 PM - Bill Monroe: I have the same trouble with Stud finders.

Apr 13, 2015 at 5:19 PM - jbigler1986: gonna see if i can find a cool picture frame
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:21 PM - Bill Monroe: both your extrusion multiplier and width are greater than mine, but the rest is close to the same.. i have 3 mm retraction vs your 1 - due to bowden I think.
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:22 PM - Bill Monroe: when I used multiplier of 1 and auto width, i had way too much material pushing up and getting all over the nozzle as it went by
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:22 PM - Bill Monroe: i ordered some hatchbox on amazon we'll see how it does
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:22 PM - jbigler1986: bowden i had stringing like crazy. among other things
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:23 PM - Bill Monroe: how old is your filament?
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:23 PM - Bill Monroe: i mean how long has it been open?
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:23 PM - Bill Monroe: right now, this makerbot stuff is rockin.. but it's early yet
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:25 PM - jbigler1986: a few weeks. i store it in a ziploc with a decontestint or whatever the hell it's called. then in a tote
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:26 PM - Bill Monroe: dessicant
    Apr 13, 2015 at 5:26 PM - jbigler1986: that's it
    Apr 13, 2015 at 5:26 PM - jbigler1986: butchered that
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:26 PM - Bill Monroe: I think decontestint is paint remover for contests :)
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:27 PM - Bill Monroe: you using a big-ol wipe too.. do you see that in action?
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:27 PM - Bill Monroe: i'm not wiping at all..
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:27 PM - Bill Monroe: which makes going commando problematic
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:29 PM - Bill Monroe: i wonder if I could mount my borescope camera down really close to the nozzle?
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:33 PM - jbigler1986: i need to fix my camera situation
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:34 PM - Bill Monroe: ohya.. if this print works I am SO shoving LEDS in it
    Apr 13, 2015 at 5:35 PM - jbigler1986: what are you printing
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:35 PM - Bill Monroe: new carriage..
    Apr 13, 2015 at 5:36 PM - jbigler1986: what for
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:36 PM - Bill Monroe: Dual V6s but there's a couple of features I designed-in that I'm not going to reveal yet
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:38 PM - Bill Monroe: as soon as I can, I'm putting this Chimera inside one of my son's rockets and sending it out of my life
    Apr 13, 2015 at 5:41 PM - jbigler1986: features. hmmm
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:42 PM - Bill Monroe: ya, I thought it was my great idea but as it turns out, stratasys patented it years ago... :)
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:44 PM - Bill Monroe: if it works, it'll solve two of the three issues I was having with the chitmera
    Apr 13, 2015 at 5:45 PM - jbigler1986: leveling is one?
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:45 PM - Bill Monroe: nice try.. i'm done giving clues :)
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:45 PM - Bill Monroe: that's a problem though.. very hard to get perfect on that POS, and impossible to keep it that way
    Apr 13, 2015 at 5:46 PM - jbigler1986: super glue :p
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:46 PM - Bill Monroe: eh, the heat would degrade it
    Apr 13, 2015 at 5:46 PM - jbigler1986: just add more
Apr 13, 2015 at 5:47 PM - Bill Monroe: when I found out stratasys had already done it, I looked at my machine at work and darned if they didnt

Apr 13, 2015 at 8:43 PM - Droid: it adjusts its height off the work bed during auto leveling
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:43 PM - Droid: dont quote me though im a noob
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:48 PM - TechSupportGo: I am printing this, thanks MK http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:720018/#files
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:49 PM - Wikid: Wonder how that works vs the dual ducted fans
Apr 13, 2015 at 8:49 PM - TechSupportGo: OnShape added me to the Android device beta test list :D   cant wait!!

    Apr 14, 2015 4:44 AM - jbigler1986: Morning
Apr 14, 2015 4:47 AM - Shank: Does anyone have a cad(stp.) file of the stock x carriage?
Apr 14, 2015 4:56 AM - jbigler1986: let me see if i can find one
    Apr 14, 2015 4:57 AM - jbigler1986: what happened?
    Apr 14, 2015 4:58 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:647798/#files there is a .step and .sldprt
    Apr 14, 2015 5:05 AM - jbigler1986: Matt are you here?
    Apr 14, 2015 5:08 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/jbigler1986
Apr 14, 2015 5:10 AM - Shank: nothing happened i would just like a cad file that i can design parts off of
    Apr 14, 2015 5:10 AM - jbigler1986: well there you go
Apr 14, 2015 5:10 AM - jbigler1986: the sldprt will do that for you
    Apr 14, 2015 5:10 AM - jbigler1986: solidworks
Apr 14, 2015 5:12 AM - Shank: it would be nice if there was a assembly out there of the robo
    Apr 14, 2015 5:12 AM - JeffTheMess: i think there is
    Apr 14, 2015 5:12 AM - JeffTheMess: good morning
Apr 14, 2015 5:13 AM - jbigler1986: they have the videos of assembly on youtube
    Apr 14, 2015 5:15 AM - Shank: i ment cad file assembly
Apr 14, 2015 5:15 AM - JeffTheMess: mike Kelly put that on thingiverse
    Apr 14, 2015 5:15 AM - JeffTheMess: i believe
    Apr 14, 2015 5:17 AM - JeffTheMess: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:729956
Apr 14, 2015 5:21 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah. that should be the whole printer. all parts
Apr 14, 2015 5:22 AM - jbigler1986: jeff why is your robo down?
Apr 14, 2015 5:25 AM - Stephen Capistron: JB. I took a bunch of pictures of the linear stepper swap last night
Apr 14, 2015 5:26 AM - JeffTheMess: the cable to the bed is badly damaged, so I got Robo to send me another one
Apr 14, 2015 5:26 AM - JeffTheMess: I should have just bought regular molex connectors that are easier to find
Apr 14, 2015 5:27 AM - JeffTheMess: from computers preferably
Apr 14, 2015 5:28 AM - JeffTheMess: but I visit her everyday make sure she knows im here for her lol
Apr 14, 2015 5:28 AM - Stephen Capistron: As much as i like the ribbon cable I wish it had a connector on it so the bed could be easily removed
Apr 14, 2015 5:32 AM - jbigler1986: I agree with that. Do you want to link me to the pics in a PM so I can add them
Apr 14, 2015 5:32 AM - Shank: Jeff sounds like you are about to marry your print, if you haven’t already
Apr 14, 2015 5:33 AM - jbigler1986: how did you damage the ribbbon cable?
Apr 14, 2015 5:34 AM - JeffTheMess: my wife gets jealous from time to time, the printer is my second wife, (just dont tell the feds)
Apr 14, 2015 5:35 AM - JeffTheMess: the cable was zip tied way to tight and it snapped right off during a print
Apr 14, 2015 5:35 AM - JeffTheMess: some nice neo magnets would be good
Apr 14, 2015 5:36 AM - jbigler1986: my wife was getting mad at me for spending so much time on mine. Then she saw my prints after I was done upgrading. Now she is happy about it. Lol
Apr 14, 2015 5:38 AM - Shank: it’s alright the more I get to know my printer the more I want to marry her
    Apr 14, 2015 5:38 AM - jbigler1986: I love mine now that she doesn't talk back anymore
Apr 14, 2015 5:42 AM - Shank: my talks back still, but i dont know how to understand her yet so to help her out
    Apr 14, 2015 5:53 AM - Shank: Apparently I can’t type today
Apr 14, 2015 5:54 AM - Bill Monroe: mine lives 150 miles away.. I cant hear her :)
Apr 14, 2015 5:54 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
Apr 14, 2015 5:54 AM - jbigler1986: stephen. you didn't give access to the pics
    Apr 14, 2015 5:55 AM - jbigler1986: morning Bill
    Apr 14, 2015 5:56 AM - Bill Monroe: jb -.55 Z offset?
    Apr 14, 2015 5:57 AM - jbigler1986: yep
Apr 14, 2015 5:57 AM - Bill Monroe: oh wait.. you using that solenoid?
    Apr 14, 2015 5:57 AM - jbigler1986: no. autolevel
Apr 14, 2015 5:58 AM - Bill Monroe: autolevel doesnt need it unless you got a mod somewhere
Apr 14, 2015 5:58 AM - Bill Monroe: i use the exact same code for startup, but your offset drives it down
    Apr 14, 2015 5:58 AM - jbigler1986: it does need a offset
Apr 14, 2015 5:59 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, -1. which you have
Apr 14, 2015 5:59 AM - jbigler1986: I didn't see offset anywhere (although I didn't look very hard). that has the same effect
Apr 14, 2015 5:59 AM - Bill Monroe: thats to account for the wacky robo z-limit mechanism
Apr 14, 2015 6:00 AM - Bill Monroe: no, you have them BOTH.. which drives a normal system to be .55 too low
Apr 14, 2015 6:00 AM - Bill Monroe: so there's something going on with yours that isnt stock
Apr 14, 2015 6:00 AM - Bill Monroe: maybe it's your znut adapters
Apr 14, 2015 6:01 AM - jbigler1986: probably. as the switches aren't at the same location as before either
Apr 14, 2015 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: ok, that makes sense :)
Apr 14, 2015 6:02 AM - Bill Monroe: I had to set my first layer height to like, 350% to get it up enough
    Apr 14, 2015 6:02 AM - jbigler1986:
Apr 14, 2015 6:02 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, that's why I went looking for the offset
Apr 14, 2015 6:03 AM - jbigler1986: i had it at -.65 until I rotated my hotend 180 degrees to clean up my wiring. then I had to adjust again
Apr 14, 2015 6:04 AM - Bill Monroe: it's actually better to put it in the M565 command
Apr 14, 2015 6:04 AM - Bill Monroe: but dont change it if it's working for you
Apr 14, 2015 6:05 AM - Bill Monroe: unless you subscribe to the "fix it until it's broken" school of tinkering thought
    Apr 14, 2015 6:05 AM - jbigler1986: the m565 command i'm not a big fan of.
    Apr 14, 2015 6:05 AM - jbigler1986: M*
Apr 14, 2015 6:06 AM - jbigler1986: seems like sometimes it accepts the change and sometimes not at all
Apr 14, 2015 6:06 AM - Bill Monroe: it's purpose is to define the difference between nozzle tip zero and limit switch actuation. stock robo switch trips when the Z is 1 BELOW the table, hence -1
Apr 14, 2015 6:07 AM - Bill Monroe: sounds like yours might be -.45
Apr 14, 2015 6:08 AM - Bill Monroe: or maybe -1.45.. i'd need to spend fomr cranium time on that one
Apr 14, 2015 6:08 AM - jbigler1986: plus with all of my fiddling/upgrading it's uber easy to make the change in S3D rather than screwing with M565
Apr 14, 2015 6:08 AM - Bill Monroe: that is in S3D too.. the startup code
    Apr 14, 2015 6:09 AM - Bill Monroe: Scripts/Starting G Code
Apr 14, 2015 6:09 AM - jbigler1986: I know. I just had issues with changing it in cura so I would rather not use it if I don't need to
    Apr 14, 2015 6:10 AM - Bill Monroe: ya well, that's Cura
Apr 14, 2015 6:10 AM - Bill Monroe: anyway.. it's working for ya
Apr 14, 2015 6:10 AM - Stephen Capistron: tough to beat that price though
Apr 14, 2015 6:10 AM - Bill Monroe: you got what you paid for :)
    Apr 14, 2015 6:11 AM - jbigler1986: I paid the same for both ;)
    Apr 14, 2015 6:12 AM - Bill Monroe: o_O
    Apr 14, 2015 6:12 AM - jbigler1986: Yep
    Apr 14, 2015 6:13 AM - jbigler1986: shhhhhhhhh
Apr 14, 2015 6:13 AM - Bill Monroe: your secret is safe
Apr 14, 2015 6:13 AM - Bill Monroe: with me, anyway
    Apr 14, 2015 6:13 AM - jbigler1986: lol
Apr 14, 2015 6:15 AM - jbigler1986: If Robo was going to pay someone for software why the hell did they choose MC. Couldn't have went with any of the others
Apr 14, 2015 6:15 AM - Bill Monroe: usually it's the result of whatever cooperation they could get from the authors
Apr 14, 2015 6:16 AM - Bill Monroe: they may have wanted to use something else, but couldnt get a collaboration going
Apr 14, 2015 6:16 AM - Bill Monroe: possibly the other's have exclusivity agreements and couldnt help
Apr 14, 2015 6:16 AM - jbigler1986: Hell they could have just made their own profile for Cura or slic3r
Apr 14, 2015 6:17 AM - Bill Monroe: who says they didnt?
Apr 14, 2015 6:17 AM - Bill Monroe: there's so much politicvs that goin on with consumer electronics...
Apr 14, 2015 6:18 AM - Bill Monroe: then you get marketing people making their demands.. legal... distribution...
Apr 14, 2015 6:18 AM - jbigler1986: i mean to ship with robos. DOwnload/install x software. Load Robo profile. Boom. Done
Apr 14, 2015 6:18 AM - Bill Monroe: well, shipping it means licenses... and agreements...
Apr 14, 2015 6:19 AM - Bill Monroe: best just to let it happen though the underground
Apr 14, 2015 6:19 AM - jbigler1986: they could put on here and link to it. No?
Apr 14, 2015 6:19 AM - Shank: what would be the best software to run rate now MC, repetier, or S3D
Apr 14, 2015 6:20 AM - Stephen Capistron: It is bad optics to sell brand A printer and say go use brand B, who also happens to sell 3d printers
Apr 14, 2015 6:20 AM - jbigler1986: honestly. whatever works best for you

Apr 14, 2015 6:20 AM - Bill Monroe: not really.. the authour could claim they're using their product for profit
Apr 14, 2015 6:21 AM - jbigler1986: If the software was paid I could see an issue. It's free though
Apr 14, 2015 6:21 AM - Bill Monroe: its free for personal use.. selling it or using it to sell another product isnt personal use
    Apr 14, 2015 6:21 AM - jbigler1986: true true
Apr 14, 2015 6:22 AM - Bill Monroe: bah.. it's all legal stuff.. i prefer the shakesperian attitude towards lwyers
Apr 14, 2015 6:22 AM - Stephen Capistron: hey now
Apr 14, 2015 6:22 AM - Stephen Capistron: i know one good lawyer
Apr 14, 2015 6:23 AM - Bill Monroe: good lawyer.. is an oxymoron :)
    Apr 14, 2015 6:23 AM - Stephen Capistron: i married her ;)
Apr 14, 2015 6:23 AM - jbigler1986: Shank. If you are happy with MC results stick with. Although you won't get much support here because not many use it. It's buggy
Apr 14, 2015 6:24 AM - Bill Monroe: i like parts of all of them..
Apr 14, 2015 6:24 AM - jbigler1986: I like repetier but moved to S3D because their support is awesome
Apr 14, 2015 6:24 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, the support feature in S3D is superior
Apr 14, 2015 6:24 AM - Bill Monroe: i wished they had more pattern choices for infill
Apr 14, 2015 6:25 AM - Bill Monroe: gotta check the jacuzzi.. brb
Apr 14, 2015 6:27 AM - Shank: thanks for the input i have repetier on my computer already but havent set it up for the robo because i dont understandit yet
    Apr 14, 2015 6:28 AM - jbigler1986: I use it to control my printer
Apr 14, 2015 6:30 AM - jbigler1986: I slice and everything with S3D then copy to SD. I connect printer with repetier. Start print from SD on my LCD and use repetier to monitor/shut it down if my print fails and I am away from my printer
Apr 14, 2015 6:32 AM - jbigler1986: Bill i'm printing with shaxon black PLA right now
Apr 14, 2015 6:33 AM - JeffTheMess: you need an all in one software jb
    Apr 14, 2015 6:34 AM - jbigler1986: You can control with S3D. I haven't tried it yet though
Apr 14, 2015 6:34 AM - Stephen Capistron: I want to setup an octoprint one of these days.
    Apr 14, 2015 6:35 AM - jbigler1986: I just unhooked octoprint last night.
Apr 14, 2015 6:35 AM - jbigler1986: To many issues. Probably doesn't help that idk crap about linux
Apr 14, 2015 6:36 AM - jbigler1986: One minute I can access it from other computers on my network and the next only on the pi.
    Apr 14, 2015 6:37 AM - Stephen Capistron: hmmm'
Apr 14, 2015 6:38 AM - jbigler1986: so went back to my laptop. bummer
Apr 14, 2015 6:38 AM - Bill Monroe: hows the black doing?
    Apr 14, 2015 6:39 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/jbigler1986
Apr 14, 2015 6:39 AM - JeffTheMess: sorry to say a "wireless printer" isn't really to useful until there's a way to remove the bed and place a new one
Apr 14, 2015 6:41 AM - jbigler1986: I just want it to stop a print if it fails
Apr 14, 2015 6:41 AM - jbigler1986: small prints i save for when i'm home. long prints i do overnight and while at work
Apr 14, 2015 6:42 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, i just use a remote software to control my laptop, but its best i guess for sd cards
Apr 14, 2015 6:43 AM - Stephen Capistron: still have to spray the hairspray too
    Apr 14, 2015 6:43 AM - jbigler1986: That's what I do. I remote in but that gets annoying
Apr 14, 2015 6:43 AM - jbigler1986: @stephen not if you have enough built up. lol
Apr 14, 2015 6:43 AM - Bill Monroe: I use the stratasys for big important stuff.. it NEVER fails
Apr 14, 2015 6:44 AM - JeffTheMess: how much was your stratasys, if you don't mind me asking?
    Apr 14, 2015 6:44 AM - jbigler1986: probably like 20 grand or more. just a guess
    Apr 14, 2015 6:44 AM - Bill Monroe: I wish....
    Apr 14, 2015 6:45 AM - Stephen Capistron: i know a company that just spent 100k on a FDM 3D printer
Apr 14, 2015 6:45 AM - JeffTheMess: for that much i would except it never to fail....800 bucks i except many...many fails
    Apr 14, 2015 6:45 AM - JeffTheMess: yikes
Apr 14, 2015 6:45 AM - Stephen Capistron: though that may have included a wash station and associated plumbing for support removal
Apr 14, 2015 6:45 AM - JeffTheMess: alot of companies lease them for protyping I know Cree does it
Apr 14, 2015 6:46 AM - jbigler1986: I will stick with my ($1100) robo. Has yet to fail after all the upgrades
Apr 14, 2015 6:46 AM - Bill Monroe: as I recall, it was in the vicinity of 150K but that inclides thee startup stock of supplies and the maintenace contract
Apr 14, 2015 6:47 AM - Bill Monroe: it's 10 times faster than the robo, and does polycarbonate.. really spoils
Apr 14, 2015 6:48 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah might be a "rent to buy" type thing but with printing becoming more advanced every year a big company is better off leasing
Apr 14, 2015 6:48 AM - Bill Monroe: I dunno.. out first stratasys was online for just over 10 years.. now it's mine :)
Apr 14, 2015 6:49 AM - Bill Monroe: ABS only
Apr 14, 2015 6:49 AM - jbigler1986: with robo doing their "payment plan" they will need more support
Apr 14, 2015 6:49 AM - JeffTheMess: how big is it, whats the build size
Apr 14, 2015 6:49 AM - Bill Monroe: not more.. better
Apr 14, 2015 6:50 AM - Stephen Capistron: i fear that the intial robo quality and tech support is not quite there to push to a wider audience
Apr 14, 2015 6:50 AM - JeffTheMess: Robo needs to focus on service...i called their service line...they told me to go on the website forum lol
Apr 14, 2015 6:50 AM - jbigler1986: Well with every batch of printers they seem to improve a little more.
Apr 14, 2015 6:51 AM - jbigler1986: the wrong firmware is a huge issue though
Apr 14, 2015 6:51 AM - Stephen Capistron: and then let a 5/16th rod version out into the wild
Apr 14, 2015 6:51 AM - Bill Monroe: arduino based is the issue
    Apr 14, 2015 6:51 AM - Bill Monroe: or ramps I mean
    Apr 14, 2015 6:52 AM - jbigler1986: I don't have an issue with that
Apr 14, 2015 6:52 AM - JeffTheMess: you'd think they would check up on peoples review and actually use what the customers say
    Apr 14, 2015 6:52 AM - Bill Monroe: 5/16 is a typical china thing
Apr 14, 2015 6:53 AM - JeffTheMess: like the dual fans, though they don't want to be a ultimaker copycat
    Apr 14, 2015 6:53 AM - jbigler1986: unfortunately that's not how companies work
Apr 14, 2015 6:53 AM - Bill Monroe: aha! we run out of 8, 5/16? is close enough
    Apr 14, 2015 6:53 AM - jbigler1986: lol. so true
Apr 14, 2015 6:54 AM - Droid: their customer service is great for me, probably because i just show up at their shop
Apr 14, 2015 6:54 AM - Bill Monroe: what? we have no mo dry milk for baby? ahhh melamine looks the same, is OK
Apr 14, 2015 6:54 AM - jbigler1986: after a few upgrades though the robo is a great printer for the money spent
Apr 14, 2015 6:54 AM - JeffTheMess: your right jb
Apr 14, 2015 6:55 AM - Bill Monroe: it is, but we're techy folx that like to tinker.. not enough market there to get a successful company going
Apr 14, 2015 6:55 AM - Bill Monroe: we're also nortorious tightwads that dont want to part with our money
    Apr 14, 2015 6:56 AM - jbigler1986: Meh. I just don't really like mainstream stuff
Apr 14, 2015 6:56 AM - JeffTheMess: thats true 3d printers wouldn't have been as successfull if it wasn't for techies and makers, (for desktop printing atleast)
Apr 14, 2015 6:56 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, there's a lot that work great out of the box with no mods ever needed.. but you pay for that
    Apr 14, 2015 6:57 AM - jbigler1986: I like open source as well
Apr 14, 2015 6:57 AM - Bill Monroe: robo and their ilk need to get there, and keep the cost down
    Apr 14, 2015 6:57 AM - jbigler1986: A huge reason why i don't like apple
Apr 14, 2015 6:57 AM - JeffTheMess: easier said than done, they said it themselves they may in the future not be open source
Apr 14, 2015 6:58 AM - Droid: saw the dremel one on display yesterday at home depot, their print examples looked like shit
Apr 14, 2015 6:58 AM - Bill Monroe: they're going to have to leave open source if they want to make good consumer machines
Apr 14, 2015 6:59 AM - jbigler1986: they said some things may be closed
Apr 14, 2015 6:59 AM - Bill Monroe: I'm glad to see robo move to the lifing table format.. that's a good step in the right direction
Apr 14, 2015 7:01 AM - JeffTheMess: is the ultimaker open source still?
    Apr 14, 2015 7:02 AM - Bill Monroe: dunno
Apr 14, 2015 7:04 AM - JeffTheMess: do you know the advantages for lift table format to what they have now would be?
    Apr 14, 2015 7:04 AM - Bill Monroe: yes
Apr 14, 2015 7:05 AM - Bill Monroe: typcially, there are two well-placed slides guiding a rigid table mount with a single screw..
Apr 14, 2015 7:05 AM - Bill Monroe: although the strats often use three independent screws
Apr 14, 2015 7:06 AM - Bill Monroe: big ones.. high quality and veryu rigidly mounted
Apr 14, 2015 7:06 AM - Bill Monroe: that elimates all Z axis issues
    Apr 14, 2015 7:07 AM - jbigler1986: that's the main issue with the robo
    Apr 14, 2015 7:07 AM - Bill Monroe: it's a big one alright
Apr 14, 2015 7:07 AM - Mike Glass: not anymore
Apr 14, 2015 7:07 AM - JeffTheMess: you think it may be a feasible upgrade that they will try and sell?
Apr 14, 2015 7:07 AM - Mike Glass: at least with yours JB
Apr 14, 2015 7:08 AM - Mike Glass: Probably not Jeff
Apr 14, 2015 7:08 AM - JeffTheMess: it would be like buying a new printer right

Apr 14, 2015 7:08 AM - Stephen Capistron: they have said they will offer linear steppers at some point
Apr 14, 2015 7:08 AM - Mike Glass: Braydon said they may, but my gut tells me no.
    Apr 14, 2015 7:08 AM - Stephen Capistron: i wouldn't hold your breath though
    Apr 14, 2015 7:09 AM - jbigler1986: i wouldn't either
Apr 14, 2015 7:09 AM - Mike Glass: exactly Stephen
Apr 14, 2015 7:09 AM - Bill Monroe: "linear Steppers" arent
Apr 14, 2015 7:09 AM - Bill Monroe: it's just a better mechanically built rotary
Apr 14, 2015 7:10 AM - JeffTheMess: shame how the people who funded their company gets left behind *sigh*
Apr 14, 2015 7:11 AM - jbigler1986: just buy your own now. no reason to wait
Apr 14, 2015 7:12 AM - Bill Monroe: I've got a few "linear Steppers" that are 4 feet long if anyone wants a REALLY tall machine :)
    Apr 14, 2015 7:12 AM - Bill Monroe: but
Apr 14, 2015 7:12 AM - jbigler1986: plus who knows what the cost would be even if they did sell them
Apr 14, 2015 7:12 AM - JeffTheMess: to be honest out the box for me almost zero issues for me, i don't need to upgrade much(for saying that all bad shyt will happen now)
    Apr 14, 2015 7:12 AM - Mike Glass: HercuLien build is $1600
    Apr 14, 2015 7:12 AM - Bill Monroe: they're actually servo motors..
Apr 14, 2015 7:12 AM - jbigler1986: that is probably to advanced for a lot of people though
    Apr 14, 2015 7:13 AM - Mike Glass: http://imgur.com/DVPytRJ
Apr 14, 2015 7:13 AM - Bill Monroe: eh.. not really.. just more expensive.. using them it's all that different
    Apr 14, 2015 7:13 AM - Bill Monroe: they're uber precise though
    Apr 14, 2015 7:13 AM - jbigler1986: i meant in reply to MG
    Apr 14, 2015 7:13 AM - Bill Monroe: oh.. then.. nevermind :)
    Apr 14, 2015 7:14 AM - Mike Glass: Thats with Taulmans T-Glase
Apr 14, 2015 7:14 AM - Bill Monroe: you did that mike?
Apr 14, 2015 7:14 AM - Mike Glass: yep thats with my .8 nozzle
Apr 14, 2015 7:15 AM - Bill Monroe: ah.. is that filamet very flexible?
Apr 14, 2015 7:16 AM - Mike Glass: in a filament state yes, very.
    Apr 14, 2015 7:16 AM - JeffTheMess: http://www.instructables.com/id/3DBenchy-The-tool-to-calibrate-and-test-your-3D-pr/
Apr 14, 2015 7:16 AM - Bill Monroe: needs some pretty goof support though the extruding system, I near
    Apr 14, 2015 7:17 AM - Bill Monroe: I hear
Apr 14, 2015 7:17 AM - JeffTheMess: looks good Mike
Apr 14, 2015 7:18 AM - Mike Glass: I printed 1 shell vase and its very clear and flexible, even creased it does not discolor, stays clear.
    Apr 14, 2015 7:18 AM - Bill Monroe: nice
Apr 14, 2015 7:22 AM - Mike Glass: You have to run it very hot though to get the layers to stick, around 240-250
Apr 14, 2015 7:22 AM - Bill Monroe: Makerbot Natural I did last night: https://www.dropbox.com/s/efoulom1t941mj0/IMG_2652.JPG?dl=0
    Apr 14, 2015 7:23 AM - Mike Glass: I likey. Pla?
Apr 14, 2015 7:23 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. looks like fishing line
Apr 14, 2015 7:23 AM - Shank: Quick question what is the max gap I can put in for my support spacing and still have a good surface? I am using the line support that is in MC.
    Apr 14, 2015 7:24 AM - Mike Glass: 2.5?
Apr 14, 2015 7:25 AM - JeffTheMess: hey shank you do your own cad?
Apr 14, 2015 7:27 AM - Shank: i dont do side jobs, i do enough cad work at work
Apr 14, 2015 7:30 AM - JeffTheMess: you can make your own support better than what MC can offer I have done it before
Apr 14, 2015 7:31 AM - Shank: still using the lines or style
Apr 14, 2015 7:31 AM - JeffTheMess: you'll save more filament that way its just a bit more time consuming
Apr 14, 2015 7:34 AM - Shank: i will look into doing that, i just am having problems removing it without leaving a screwed up surface
Apr 14, 2015 7:34 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah MC sucks so bad at support
    Apr 14, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
Apr 14, 2015 7:36 AM - Shank: is repertier any better at it
Apr 14, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Glass: Hey MK
Apr 14, 2015 7:37 AM - Mike Glass: Cura is the best for support
    Apr 14, 2015 7:37 AM - JeffTheMess: moring mk
Apr 14, 2015 7:37 AM - JeffTheMess: het shank you can try meshmixer http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:131054 i recommended it alot here
    Apr 14, 2015 7:40 AM - Shank: ok thanks
Apr 14, 2015 7:41 AM - Mike Glass: Hey Mike, do you have fans shrouds for the hex dual fan holder? or will you other ones you made fit?
Apr 14, 2015 7:44 AM - Mike Glass: Or can I get the Sw file and modify to work?
Apr 14, 2015 7:45 AM - jbigler1986: i think the one he made was for the hex
    Apr 14, 2015 7:45 AM - jbigler1986: He eidn't make it for the e3d
    Apr 14, 2015 7:49 AM - Mike Kelly: correct
    Apr 14, 2015 7:50 AM - Mike Glass: Yes, and I have a hex
    Apr 14, 2015 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: i didn't ever make fan shrouds
Apr 14, 2015 7:50 AM - Mike Glass: do you think the ones for your ultimate will work?
Apr 14, 2015 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: you'd need to modify them
    Apr 14, 2015 7:53 AM - jbigler1986: how's it going MK. Haven't seen much of you lately
Apr 14, 2015 8:06 AM - Mike Kelly: it's good, i was having issues connecting to the forums yesterday
    Apr 14, 2015 8:06 AM - jbigler1986: Interesting
Apr 14, 2015 8:06 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i was getting a weird error
Apr 14, 2015 8:07 AM - Mike Kelly: seems like it didn't affect everyone
    Apr 14, 2015 8:07 AM - jbigler1986: yeah i didn't have any problems
    Apr 14, 2015 8:07 AM - jbigler1986: ISP issue maybe
Apr 14, 2015 8:07 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i think it's only if you've interacted with the wiki or something
    Apr 14, 2015 8:08 AM - jbigler1986: weird
Apr 14, 2015 8:08 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it totally sucked
Apr 14, 2015 8:09 AM - Bill Monroe: who was looking for sequential object printing in S3D?
Apr 14, 2015 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: i tried printing a part last night, managed to inop both printers
    Apr 14, 2015 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm starting to regret the HD-15 and DB9 connectors
Apr 14, 2015 8:10 AM - jbigler1986: i tried to set it up with 2 different processes. It went from 12 hour print to 24.
Apr 14, 2015 8:11 AM - Bill Monroe: ok so you figured out how to do it then
Apr 14, 2015 8:11 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah you save time printing multiple objects in one go
Apr 14, 2015 8:12 AM - jbigler1986: nope. it had the opposite effect. It's supposed to make it print faster
Apr 14, 2015 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: not one at a time
Apr 14, 2015 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: one at a time is the same time as printing 2 objects
Apr 14, 2015 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: with the benefit you don't have to be there to reset
Apr 14, 2015 8:13 AM - Mike Glass: I figured it out in Cura, got all my parts printed, only could do 6 at a time with those big fan shrouds.
Apr 14, 2015 8:14 AM - Mike Kelly: what were your settings
Apr 14, 2015 8:14 AM - jbigler1986: based on the travel moves it didn't work for me on S3D. I didn't actually start the print though
    Apr 14, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
    Apr 14, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Kelly: cool
Apr 14, 2015 8:18 AM - jbigler1986: in S3D you should only have to add the mm of clearance you have
Apr 14, 2015 8:19 AM - jbigler1986: IDK if someone else wants to see if they can get it figured out. I couldn't
    Apr 14, 2015 8:20 AM - Mike Kelly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/eqif1eccsdacwph/blower.PNG?dl=0 here's what i designed last night
    Apr 14, 2015 8:21 AM - jbigler1986: I like it
Apr 14, 2015 8:22 AM - Mike Kelly: oh yeah jb i found that bottom cover picture lol
    Apr 14, 2015 8:22 AM - Mike Kelly: err
    Apr 14, 2015 8:22 AM - jbigler1986: forgot to copy. lol
    Apr 14, 2015 8:22 AM - Mike Kelly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3c1b22gdjle5mva/IMG_2324.JPG?dl=0
Apr 14, 2015 8:23 AM - jbigler1986: Good. Hopefully I can get back to it in an hour or 2. I really want to finish it.
Apr 14, 2015 8:23 AM - Mike Glass: How much were the fans Mike?
    Apr 14, 2015 8:24 AM - Mike Kelly: $12+ shipping
Apr 14, 2015 8:24 AM - Mike Kelly: i think my shrouds might be too restrictive
Apr 14, 2015 8:24 AM - Mike Kelly: puts out like no air
Apr 14, 2015 8:24 AM - Mike Glass: for both or each?

    Apr 14, 2015 8:24 AM - Mike Kelly: per
Apr 14, 2015 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: i think it'll also work for the chimera, i guess i should check
Apr 14, 2015 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: and i don't need to remove the fans to swap nozzles
Apr 14, 2015 8:28 AM - Mike Kelly: i was gonna print them on the rep2x after putting the robo out of service but i forgot i'm part way through the 37 hour engine block
    Apr 14, 2015 8:30 AM - jbigler1986: woops
    Apr 14, 2015 8:32 AM - Mike Glass: 37 hours, bazinga
Apr 14, 2015 8:33 AM - Mike Glass: You should be streaming that
    Apr 14, 2015 8:33 AM - jbigler1986: agreed
Apr 14, 2015 8:34 AM - Mike Kelly: alright one second
Apr 14, 2015 8:34 AM - Mike Glass: two votes, your to easy Mike..lol
Apr 14, 2015 8:35 AM - Wikid: Maybe he's saving his bandwidth, you know how hard it is for companies to harvest that stuff out of those blackholes
Apr 14, 2015 8:36 AM - jbigler1986: I cleaned my lens of my camera. It may or may not have had hairspray build up
Apr 14, 2015 8:36 AM - Mike Glass: I got me some new wire strippers, the irwin vise-grip model, nice.
    Apr 14, 2015 8:37 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/pioneer-energy
Apr 14, 2015 8:40 AM - Mike Kelly: could be going a bit better
    Apr 14, 2015 8:44 AM - jbigler1986: what's on the build plate
Apr 14, 2015 8:45 AM - Mike Glass: thats an engine
    Apr 14, 2015 8:45 AM - jbigler1986: lol. i know that
Apr 14, 2015 8:45 AM - Mike Kelly: kapton tape w/ abs slurry
    Apr 14, 2015 8:45 AM - Mike Glass: then y did you ask..lol
Apr 14, 2015 8:45 AM - Mike Kelly: because you gotta understand the question mike :)
    Apr 14, 2015 8:46 AM - Mike Glass: YOu got to ask the right question:;
    Apr 14, 2015 8:46 AM - jbigler1986: it's ok MG. we understand
Apr 14, 2015 8:46 AM - Mike Glass: Ok on more time XT, then Im throwing you out.
    Apr 14, 2015 8:47 AM - Mike Kelly: i'll buy it off you :)
    Apr 14, 2015 8:47 AM - jbigler1986: stream it MG
Apr 14, 2015 8:48 AM - Mike Kelly: stream all the prints!
Apr 14, 2015 8:49 AM - Mike Glass: I wouldnt do that you you mike
Apr 14, 2015 8:49 AM - Mike Kelly: if i can print ABS i think i can handle XT :)
Apr 14, 2015 8:50 AM - jbigler1986: i have yet to try anything besides ABS and PLA
Apr 14, 2015 8:50 AM - Mike Kelly: i really wanna try that nylon 915
Apr 14, 2015 8:50 AM - Mike Kelly: i think PS was gonna send me a sample
Apr 14, 2015 8:51 AM - jbigler1986: he should send me a sample of something he wants me to print for him
    Apr 14, 2015 8:53 AM - Mike Glass: I have some bridge I haven't tried yet.
Apr 14, 2015 8:54 AM - Mike Glass: seems alot like the taulman in flexability.
    Apr 14, 2015 8:54 AM - Mike Kelly: bridge is a taulman
    Apr 14, 2015 8:54 AM - dbvanhorn: hi
    Apr 14, 2015 8:54 AM - Mike Glass: t-glase I meant
    Apr 14, 2015 8:54 AM - jbigler1986: hola
Apr 14, 2015 8:54 AM - Mike Kelly: i like bridge, it's tricky to print you gotta go really slow to prevent it from bulging
Apr 14, 2015 8:55 AM - Mike Kelly: creates super strong parts though if you print with high density and thick features
Apr 14, 2015 8:55 AM - Wikid: MG i already threw out my XT, its been replaced with PETG
    Apr 14, 2015 8:56 AM - Mike Kelly: i can't believe they wouldn't replace a poorly wound spool
Apr 14, 2015 8:56 AM - jbigler1986: MK I did deprime with 120mm/s and it had 3 strings. Bumped it up to 130 and got 0
Apr 14, 2015 8:57 AM - Wikid: I really liked the way it printed, however it being 65$ for only 750g spool is seems very overpriced. I feel it was a sign, to not use this crap lol
    Apr 14, 2015 8:57 AM - Mike Kelly: sick
Apr 14, 2015 8:58 AM - Mike Kelly: that sucks wikid
Apr 14, 2015 8:58 AM - Mike Kelly: the cost is a big reason i haven't messed with it
Apr 14, 2015 8:58 AM - Mike Kelly: just got a sample pack
Apr 14, 2015 8:58 AM - Mike Kelly: i like my old spool of XT clear
Apr 14, 2015 8:58 AM - Mike Kelly: comes in handy
Apr 14, 2015 8:59 AM - jbigler1986: yeah I can't justify paying that much for filament unless i need it for something
Apr 14, 2015 8:59 AM - Wikid: I would pull like ten strands off to get one tangle out get it rolled all back up, start a print and it would end up running into some other tangle. end up just stopping in the print
Apr 14, 2015 8:59 AM - Mike Kelly: reading over what you guys talked about yesterday, i was thinking that i bet you could print ice if you used super chilled water
Apr 14, 2015 8:59 AM - Wikid: Im hoping PETG will be just as strong as XT
Apr 14, 2015 9:00 AM - Wikid: Hey are there any nice filament extruders out there other than the filastruder?
Apr 14, 2015 9:00 AM - Mike Kelly: there was that one on kickstarter
    Apr 14, 2015 9:01 AM - Mike Kelly: indie gogo i guess
    Apr 14, 2015 9:01 AM - Mike Kelly: protocyclers
    Apr 14, 2015 9:01 AM - Mike Kelly: filabot
Apr 14, 2015 9:02 AM - Mike Kelly: there was another kind i can't remember the name of
Apr 14, 2015 9:04 AM - Mike Kelly: just found another called extrusion bot
Apr 14, 2015 9:04 AM - Wikid: we need to design a machine that just extrudes using pellets
    Apr 14, 2015 9:04 AM - Wikid: right into a printer
    Apr 14, 2015 9:04 AM - jbigler1986: there is one
Apr 14, 2015 9:05 AM - Printed Solid: yeah, there are a handful of filament extruders out there. filastruder is by far the best rep.
Apr 14, 2015 9:05 AM - Mike Kelly: richrap did that
Apr 14, 2015 9:05 AM - Mike Kelly: Strooder was the one i was looking for
Apr 14, 2015 9:05 AM - Printed Solid: Also, while the bagging on XT is awesome... 2 points.
Apr 14, 2015 9:06 AM - Printed Solid: We sell it for $46-$54. Not sure where you're getting it for $65
Apr 14, 2015 9:06 AM - Printed Solid: There is one way to get a tangled spool. This is true for $15 filament and $100 filament and that is if you get an end stuck underneath the filament.
Apr 14, 2015 9:07 AM - Wikid: I got it from them directly, when I bought my printer that was with shipping.
Apr 14, 2015 9:07 AM - jbigler1986: Hey Printed. Do you have any v6 heatsinks
    Apr 14, 2015 9:07 AM - Printed Solid: yup.
Apr 14, 2015 9:07 AM - Printed Solid: from Robo?
    Apr 14, 2015 9:07 AM - jbigler1986: same prive as the v5 or a little more
    Apr 14, 2015 9:07 AM - jbigler1986: price*
Apr 14, 2015 9:08 AM - Printed Solid: It's more. The V5s are really just leftovers.
Apr 14, 2015 9:08 AM - Wikid: Which I untangled it multiple times but each time was never enough, before it would run into another tangle. they were little help on the issue. I have like half a spool i could respool onto something else just get pissed everytime i look at it lol
Apr 14, 2015 9:09 AM - jbigler1986: How much? Or do you happen to have any on the bowden clips on the top of the heatsink? Stretching on that probably
Apr 14, 2015 9:09 AM - Wikid: Also Matt I sent you a message with my Email for that cert
    Apr 14, 2015 9:09 AM - Printed Solid: it's 18.99. bowden couplings are 3.99.
Apr 14, 2015 9:10 AM - Printed Solid: yes. I have it. will send it over sometime today.
Apr 14, 2015 9:10 AM - Bill Monroe: Hi Matt
Apr 14, 2015 9:10 AM - Printed Solid: hi bill.
Apr 14, 2015 9:10 AM - jbigler1986: do they come with the metal insert too?
    Apr 14, 2015 9:10 AM - jbigler1986: the threaded part
Apr 14, 2015 9:11 AM - Printed Solid: yes. the metal ring and the little black insert piece.
    Apr 14, 2015 9:11 AM - jbigler1986: is that a pain to remove?
Apr 14, 2015 9:12 AM - Printed Solid: I don't know. I've never taken one off. All the heatsinks have them preinserted.
Apr 14, 2015 9:12 AM - Mike Kelly: did your brass ring come out?
Apr 14, 2015 9:12 AM - Printed Solid: oh, they are press fit not threaded.
Apr 14, 2015 9:13 AM - jbigler1986: drill press should get the job done. Removing it might be a pain
Apr 14, 2015 9:14 AM - Printed Solid: is it damaged?
Apr 14, 2015 9:15 AM - jbigler1986: yeah i chipped the black clip drilling out a jam. ptfe tube wouldn't budge
Apr 14, 2015 9:15 AM - Printed Solid: you just need the black clip?
Apr 14, 2015 9:15 AM - jbigler1986: It's holding now but not sure how long that will last
    Apr 14, 2015 9:15 AM - jbigler1986: yeah
Apr 14, 2015 9:15 AM - Printed Solid: that is fairly easy to remove.
Apr 14, 2015 9:16 AM - jbigler1986: the brass ring is fine. just the clip

Apr 14, 2015 9:16 AM - Printed Solid: I don't think I have any loose black clips though, they come in a kit with the ring for some reason.
Apr 14, 2015 9:16 AM - jbigler1986: that's not a big deal. they aren't on your site yet are they?
Apr 14, 2015 9:17 AM - Printed Solid: no. just send me an email and I'll get an invoice to you later today.
Apr 14, 2015 9:17 AM - Printed Solid: I really need to get all those spare parts listed. Just need to take pictures.
Apr 14, 2015 9:17 AM - Bill Monroe: how are you fixed for .4 tips Matt?
Apr 14, 2015 9:18 AM - Printed Solid: I'm always stocked up with tips.
Apr 14, 2015 9:18 AM - jbigler1986: Ok. I will send the email in a little bit. Will need to do the certificate thing again. just an FYI
Apr 14, 2015 9:18 AM - Bill Monroe: ya? you're site said out so...

Apr 14, 2015 9:31 AM - Mike Glass: Is she selling your shoes?
Apr 14, 2015 9:32 AM - Bill Monroe: wik, the time that the soap is at the right consistency for printing is only second... it's a pretty spectacular process when it kicks from liquid to solid
Apr 14, 2015 9:32 AM - Bill Monroe: what? she's selling my shoes again?!?!
    Apr 14, 2015 9:32 AM - Wikid: https://www.dropbox.com/sc/8x8x0hj1pljrizz/BZJdM8y9el

Apr 14, 2015 9:39 AM - Mike Glass: I had a 6 hour one, but sliced it and glued it together so no much of a loss.
Apr 14, 2015 9:39 AM - jbigler1986: my wife got home before me and called me "Your printer is broke! There is stuff everywhere!" I said "Does it look like spaghetti everywhere?" "Yes" "Not a big deal. Print just failed."
Apr 14, 2015 9:39 AM - dbvanhorn: Hilarious! I just found a widlarizer through Yeggi

Apr 14, 2015 9:40 AM - dbvanhorn: Bob Widlar was famous for "widlarizing" misbehaving prototypes.
Apr 14, 2015 9:40 AM - Mike Glass: oh yea the extruder is hauling.
    Apr 14, 2015 9:40 AM - jbigler1986: I haven't had the .8 on in a while
Apr 14, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Glass: I use it to make all those translucent plates and police lights.
Apr 14, 2015 9:41 AM - Wikid: mm police lights
Apr 14, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Glass: And the revolver I made last night.

Apr 14, 2015 10:16 AM - jbigler1986: Can someone grab a screenshot of where the z steps are in the configuration.h so I can add it to the guide? At work so I can't.
Apr 14, 2015 10:23 AM - Shank: anyone know the max volts and amps i can pull off the cooling fan?
Apr 14, 2015 10:42 AM - jbigler1986: Thanks. Can someone with the autolevel take a picture of the adapter with the autolevel switches attached?
Apr 14, 2015 10:44 AM - jbigler1986: Added more steps. Forgot about taking pics of the switch in it's stock state
    Apr 14, 2015 10:49 AM - jbigler1986: Man it's a long guide
Apr 14, 2015 10:51 AM - Shank: whats the guide on?
    Apr 14, 2015 10:51 AM - jbigler1986: Installing new z rods
Apr 14, 2015 10:52 AM - jbigler1986: no more coupler which is the cause for lots of z issues
    Apr 14, 2015 10:52 AM - jbigler1986: http://community.robo3d.com/index.p...more-couplers-instructions-not-finished.5083/
Apr 14, 2015 10:56 AM - jbigler1986: shaxon black is a little hairy with the same settings as the hatchbox. unacceptable
Apr 14, 2015 10:57 AM - Bill Monroe: good to know
Apr 14, 2015 10:57 AM - Bill Monroe: makerbot black is hairy at 195
Apr 14, 2015 10:58 AM - jbigler1986: yeah that's what temp i'm using with this. if you look at my stream you can see it in between the 2 parts on the front left. i should say stringy and not hairy i guess
Apr 14, 2015 11:00 AM - jbigler1986: parts are looking beautiful though. look how smooth the big part up front looks
Apr 14, 2015 11:00 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm aking away all the holes in my solid that had support.. just leaving dimples to guide a drill..
    Apr 14, 2015 11:01 AM - jbigler1986: the carriage?
Apr 14, 2015 11:01 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. i think trying to print them was causing the retrac to hammer-out the PTFE tube
Apr 14, 2015 11:02 AM - Bill Monroe: at least, that's the theory 'm going withat the moment
    Apr 14, 2015 11:08 AM - jbigler1986: damn bowden
Apr 14, 2015 11:08 AM - Bill Monroe: heh ya.. new machine will be different
Apr 14, 2015 11:10 AM - jbigler1986: can almost see reflection off of this black
Apr 14, 2015 11:10 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm thinking either two direct NEMA 17 extruders with a NEMA 23 motor to move them, or two X carriages
Apr 14, 2015 11:11 AM - Bill Monroe: nice 85 degrees here with no clouds and 36% humidity
    Apr 14, 2015 11:11 AM - jbigler1986: 2 carriages seems like more issues
Apr 14, 2015 11:11 AM - Bill Monroe: and my neighbor pruning her flowers in a bikini
    Apr 14, 2015 11:12 AM - Bradf80: anyone see that diamond hotend?
    Apr 14, 2015 11:12 AM - Bill Monroe: noe
    Apr 14, 2015 11:12 AM - Bradf80: http://www.gizmag.com/diamondhotend-color-3d-printer-extruder/36950/
Apr 14, 2015 11:12 AM - Bill Monroe: ohya, I did see that.. 3 holer
Apr 14, 2015 11:13 AM - Bill Monroe: still has the problems the cyclops has, and marlin cant drive it
    Apr 14, 2015 11:13 AM - jbigler1986: that thing is huge
Apr 14, 2015 11:13 AM - Bradf80: pretty nice setup. there's even talks about it being able to mix the colors
Apr 14, 2015 11:14 AM - jbigler1986: seems like it would be a huge pain
Apr 14, 2015 11:14 AM - Bill Monroe: if they made two-hol version it might be of interest to toymakers
Apr 14, 2015 11:14 AM - Bradf80: yeah a little bit bulky, but having one nozzle to deal with instead of two is nice
Apr 14, 2015 11:14 AM - Bill Monroe: you cant run different materials though
    Apr 14, 2015 11:15 AM - jbigler1986: also more extruders
Apr 14, 2015 11:15 AM - Bill Monroe: whic Marlin cant dive more than two
Apr 14, 2015 11:16 AM - Bradf80: he's already doubled his Kickstarter on it so I think there's interest lol
Apr 14, 2015 11:16 AM - Bill Monroe: people bought Pacers too
Apr 14, 2015 11:17 AM - Bradf80: pacer? only like 5 people left alive remember those lolz
    Apr 14, 2015 11:17 AM - Bill Monroe: <-- sister had one
Apr 14, 2015 11:18 AM - Bill Monroe: it was actually a good little car.. wierd looking but made OK
Apr 14, 2015 11:19 AM - Bradf80: I like the idea though, something new and not patented by maker bot lol
    Apr 14, 2015 11:20 AM - Bill Monroe: I think that's why they did 3 holes
Apr 14, 2015 11:20 AM - Bill Monroe: if they get marlin firmware odded and run on a Rambo, it may work.
Apr 14, 2015 11:21 AM - Bradf80: MB seems to have a patent for everything they could think of lol
Apr 14, 2015 11:21 AM - Bill Monroe: Stratasys owns MB they're patent whores
    Apr 14, 2015 11:22 AM - Bill Monroe: it's called "blocking patents"
Apr 14, 2015 11:22 AM - Bill Monroe: my company does it too
Apr 14, 2015 11:22 AM - Bill Monroe: we have a team of 5 lawyers all they do is patents
Apr 14, 2015 11:23 AM - Bradf80: yar it's a mess. there's a lawsuit on the books against some patents they already had expired patents for lol
Apr 14, 2015 11:23 AM - Bill Monroe: company pays 500 for every original idea we com up with so.. it's a fertileground
Apr 14, 2015 11:24 AM - Bill Monroe: i had an idea I wanted royalties on but they woulndt do it so, I shut up and didnt tell them what it was... that still bugs them
Apr 14, 2015 11:25 AM - Bradf80: every idea I think of is already patented, they don't have the process down but they patented the end result lol
Apr 14, 2015 11:26 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, it's getting tougher all the time
Apr 14, 2015 11:26 AM - Bill Monroe: i used to work for a hearing protection company that decided not to patent their manufacturing process so the competetion cold never know how we did it
Apr 14, 2015 11:26 AM - Stephen Capistron: especially with first to file
Apr 14, 2015 11:27 AM - Bill Monroe: i still get a annual payment for keeping silent on the process :)
Apr 14, 2015 11:27 AM - Stephen Capistron: right, thats why coke will never patent the recipe. Nor Bush's baked beans
    Apr 14, 2015 11:27 AM - jbigler1986: mmmm. Bush's baked beans
    Apr 14, 2015 11:28 AM - BryZad: hello all
    Apr 14, 2015 11:28 AM - jbigler1986: hello
Apr 14, 2015 11:28 AM - Bradf80: yep, those are trade secrets. perpetual private information; but anyone is allowed to make it so there's a gamble of someone finding out the process and profiting as well
Apr 14, 2015 11:28 AM - Bill Monroe: I loved working there.. been entertaining returning for my last couple of years before retirement
Apr 14, 2015 11:29 AM - jbigler1986: stephen thanks for the pics. who has one for the stock autolevel adapters?
Apr 14, 2015 11:29 AM - Bill Monroe: you talking about the limit switch abominations?
Apr 14, 2015 11:32 AM - jbigler1986: the switch that the carriage sits on for the autolevel
Apr 14, 2015 11:32 AM - Bradf80: on a side note, I don't think my hotend is preheating before leveling and the plastic left on the tip is throwing off the start. I see the gcode there in MC so I don't know what the issue is
Apr 14, 2015 11:32 AM - BryZad: does it show in mc the hot end up to temp ?
Apr 14, 2015 11:33 AM - jbigler1986: Where is the M109 line at in the start gcode?
Apr 14, 2015 11:33 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, you need an M109 in the right spot
    Apr 14, 2015 11:33 AM - Bill Monroe: <hi-5> jb
Apr 14, 2015 11:34 AM - Bill Monroe: my frankensteinis printing so I dont want to fool with that switch right now
Apr 14, 2015 11:34 AM - Bill Monroe: <<-- calls his Robo Frankenprinter
Apr 14, 2015 11:35 AM - BryZad: when I was using mc I always pre heated before prints
Apr 14, 2015 11:35 AM - jbigler1986: make sure the M109 is at the top of the start gcode
Apr 14, 2015 11:35 AM - jbigler1986: it will preheat everything before it starts the autolevel
Apr 14, 2015 11:35 AM - jbigler1986: need to send Matt that email before I forget
Apr 14, 2015 11:36 AM - Bill Monroe: even your TV dinner
Apr 14, 2015 11:36 AM - BryZad: hey Jb where did you get your lineral beraings to help clear prints at ?
    Apr 14, 2015 11:36 AM - jbigler1986: TV dinner? Gross
    Apr 14, 2015 11:37 AM - jbigler1986: It's not bearings. It's whole need rod assembly
Apr 14, 2015 11:37 AM - Bill Monroe: Boston Market TV dinners are not bad
    Apr 14, 2015 11:37 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.amazon.com/SainSmart-Screw-Stepper-Printer-RepRap/dp/B00JTSEFQY
Apr 14, 2015 11:38 AM - Bill Monroe: you should publish your adapter stl jb
Apr 14, 2015 11:38 AM - jbigler1986: wonder how my prints compare to a tuned makerbot.
    Apr 14, 2015 11:38 AM - Bill Monroe: less expensive :)

Apr 14, 2015 11:40 AM - jbigler1986: I asked MK to since he was the one that ultimately designed them
Apr 14, 2015 11:40 AM - BryZad: you should just make a tread on your upgrades
    Apr 14, 2015 11:40 AM - jbigler1986: Already have

Apr 14, 2015 2:24 PM - Mike Kelly: thermistors have a reliability drop off above 300C
Apr 14, 2015 2:25 PM - Wikid: I want it to adhear to the bed not pool on the bed
Apr 14, 2015 2:25 PM - Mike Kelly: the bed will max out around 110-115 but you'll be waiting a while for that
    Apr 14, 2015 2:25 PM - Wikid: 80-90 is easy tho?
    Apr 14, 2015 2:25 PM - Mike Kelly: easy for a 130W heater i suppose
    Apr 14, 2015 2:27 PM - jbigler1986: Takes a little bit
Apr 14, 2015 2:28 PM - Wikid: Also Colorfabb finally got around to responding to my support ticket, gonna send out a new spool

Apr 14, 2015 2:44 PM - Wikid: was there a guide on changing the R1 to a bownden setup with the stock hotend just moving the extruder and adding a tube?
Apr 14, 2015 2:45 PM - jbigler1986: You need install a adapter to the top of the hex heat sink. The extruder is easy to move
Apr 14, 2015 2:46 PM - jbigler1986: I had lots of issues with binding though. Partly bc a printed bowden adapter isn't the greatest for lots of pressure
    Apr 14, 2015 2:48 PM - jbigler1986: I don't think I would try it again with greg's Wade
Apr 14, 2015 2:49 PM - Wikid: ah ok, I wont bother then. Just was thinking of trying to lighten the head and clean it up some. Didnt want to go spend a buch of money

Apr 14, 2015 2:50 PM - Wikid: Direct drive would be kinda nice but dont think you can do it with the current stepper
Apr 14, 2015 2:52 PM - jbigler1986: I mean you could try it. I just had way to many issues. Total cost was like $13. Just for 8 feet of ptfe tube
    Apr 14, 2015 2:52 PM - jbigler1986: ? Robo is direct drive
    Apr 14, 2015 2:53 PM - jbigler1986: Or direct feed rather

Apr 14, 2015 2:55 PM - jbigler1986: Does it have the Mike Kelly autograph
Apr 14, 2015 2:56 PM - Wikid: I feel like these are the steppers hes been using for his dual bowden drive that he depsizes
Apr 14, 2015 2:59 PM - Mike Kelly: i want to go to bontech v2's and he designed it to use 8mm drive shaft versions instead of the 6 i'm using

Apr 14, 2015 4:28 PM - jbigler1986: i was in florida for a job for 2 months. stayed 5 minutes from the beach. it was nice but got old. warmer isn't always better
    Apr 14, 2015 4:40 PM - Mike Glass: Wasn't a fan of Florida.
Apr 14, 2015 4:54 PM - Bradf80: The only people that like Florida are people that never deal with it. Air conditioned cars, air conditioned work and houses. The only weather they enjoy is going to the beach for 45minutes for the sunset, and the walk to and from their car to their work or house...lol I live in Florida btw =P
