    Apr 14, 2015 5:32 PM - jbigler1986: 10 minutes away
Apr 14, 2015 5:32 PM - Bill Monroe: I can walk you through sequential printing if you want.. it's a lot easier than it looks
    Apr 14, 2015 5:33 PM - jbigler1986: Please do. I will be back in like 30 minutes
    Apr 14, 2015 5:33 PM - Bill Monroe: ok i'm gunna grab a bite
Apr 14, 2015 5:40 PM - jbigler1986: I went through the tutorial. Missing something obviously
Apr 14, 2015 6:14 PM - jbigler1986: Another wiring project. Got an 8 pin power connector. One clip to unplug everything. Oh yeah
    Apr 14, 2015 6:16 PM - jbigler1986: Definitely not happening tonight though
    Apr 14, 2015 6:34 PM - jbigler1986: i'm back bill

Apr 14, 2015 6:46 PM - Mike Glass: What do you mean JB, Me Printing?
Apr 14, 2015 6:49 PM - Mike Glass: Hey Mike what is the extra mount by the fan on the Hex Dual fan
Apr 14, 2015 6:54 PM - Droid: you guys know of any parts fan shrouds that fit with the e3d v6?
    Apr 14, 2015 7:09 PM - TechSupportGo: hello
Apr 14, 2015 7:10 PM - TechSupportGo: Just installed this Thanks MK http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:720018/#files
    Apr 14, 2015 7:10 PM - TechSupportGo: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8FWeUGKaHaxeUlsVnRmanZaY3M/view?usp=sharing
    Apr 14, 2015 7:12 PM - Bill Monroe: back
    Apr 14, 2015 7:12 PM - TechSupportGo: hey bill
    Apr 14, 2015 7:13 PM - Bill Monroe: TSG
Apr 14, 2015 7:14 PM - TechSupportGo: I printed this and fully installed them before I realized I would have had problems with the stock robo http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:431160
Apr 14, 2015 7:15 PM - TechSupportGo: they would have hit the print bed way before the stock hot tip would have
    Apr 14, 2015 7:22 PM - jbigler1986: You here bill
    Apr 14, 2015 7:23 PM - Bill Monroe: yup
Apr 14, 2015 7:23 PM - Bill Monroe: you ready?
    Apr 14, 2015 7:23 PM - jbigler1986: yeah
    Apr 14, 2015 7:24 PM - Bill Monroe: ok. open up S3D
    Apr 14, 2015 7:24 PM - Bill Monroe: file:new
    Apr 14, 2015 7:24 PM - jbigler1986: k
Apr 14, 2015 7:24 PM - Bill Monroe: import two models, anyone will do.. same or different is OK
Apr 14, 2015 7:25 PM - Bill Monroe: place them somewhat apart so the head can get to both of them without hitting the other
    Apr 14, 2015 7:25 PM - jbigler1986: k
Apr 14, 2015 7:26 PM - Bill Monroe: ok.. now add a process, then add another.. same or different is OK
Apr 14, 2015 7:26 PM - Bill Monroe: you need one for each model
    Apr 14, 2015 7:27 PM - jbigler1986: k
Apr 14, 2015 7:27 PM - Wikid: ah doing the object by object printing?
Apr 14, 2015 7:27 PM - Bill Monroe: ok.. now hit prepare to print.. a window will pop up you may have never seen before
    Apr 14, 2015 7:27 PM - jbigler1986: done with that
Apr 14, 2015 7:27 PM - Bill Monroe: yup Wiki
Apr 14, 2015 7:27 PM - Bill Monroe: oh wait.. i'm sorry forgot one thing.. go back to processes
    Apr 14, 2015 7:27 PM - jbigler1986: select all > sequential
    Apr 14, 2015 7:28 PM - jbigler1986: ok
    Apr 14, 2015 7:28 PM - Bill Monroe: double click process1
    Apr 14, 2015 7:28 PM - jbigler1986: done
Apr 14, 2015 7:28 PM - Bill Monroe: at the bottom of the settings window is a button called select models.. hit that
    Apr 14, 2015 7:29 PM - jbigler1986: ok
Apr 14, 2015 7:29 PM - Bill Monroe: now pick the part that you want to process with these settings
Apr 14, 2015 7:29 PM - Bill Monroe: and hit OK
Apr 14, 2015 7:29 PM - Bill Monroe: hot OK again to close it
    Apr 14, 2015 7:29 PM - jbigler1986: same with process 2?
    Apr 14, 2015 7:29 PM - Bill Monroe: yup!
    Apr 14, 2015 7:30 PM - jbigler1986: done
Apr 14, 2015 7:30 PM - Bill Monroe: ok, now prepare to print
    Apr 14, 2015 7:30 PM - jbigler1986: select all > sequential printing
Apr 14, 2015 7:30 PM - Bill Monroe: hit select all.. to pick both processes..
Apr 14, 2015 7:30 PM - Bill Monroe: yes but hang on a sec
    Apr 14, 2015 7:30 PM - jbigler1986: k
Apr 14, 2015 7:31 PM - Bill Monroe: the max height is very important..
Apr 14, 2015 7:31 PM - Bill Monroe: that height is how high it will go on one model, before it goes to the other.. it allows you to print them without the hot sections colliding with other models
Apr 14, 2015 7:32 PM - jbigler1986: it will only print whatever height you give it at a time before moving to the other right?
Apr 14, 2015 7:32 PM - Bill Monroe: so say, your tip has about 10mm cleanrance.. you could put in say 8.. and the one model will print till it gets that high, then it;ll go the the other to catch up, continue up another, then back to the first.. make sense?
Apr 14, 2015 7:33 PM - Bill Monroe: ya.. you can play with it then look at the layers to see the efect
    Apr 14, 2015 7:33 PM - jbigler1986: k
    Apr 14, 2015 7:33 PM - Bill Monroe: that's it!
Apr 14, 2015 7:33 PM - Bill Monroe: easy peasy
Apr 14, 2015 7:33 PM - Bill Monroe: and.. it definelty does save time
Apr 14, 2015 7:34 PM - Bill Monroe: you can even have totally different settings for each model
    Apr 14, 2015 7:34 PM - Bill Monroe: S3D rocks
Apr 14, 2015 7:34 PM - Wikid: Another trick i learned after being able to do that is that you can keep all your processes for each type of material, then when you hit print you just select the process you want to run. Saves me from having to make mutiple saves for each Plastic
Apr 14, 2015 7:34 PM - Bill Monroe: it helps wit cooling too since the fans linger over one model longer
Apr 14, 2015 7:35 PM - jbigler1986: I did all of that before except selecting the model in the process
    Apr 14, 2015 7:35 PM - Bill Monroe: yup
Apr 14, 2015 7:35 PM - Bill Monroe: i knew it would be something simple
Apr 14, 2015 7:35 PM - Bill Monroe: now, go forth and be sequential :)
    Apr 14, 2015 7:35 PM - Wikid: lol
Apr 14, 2015 7:36 PM - Bill Monroe: the boss is on the phone.. afk for a few
    Apr 14, 2015 7:36 PM - jbigler1986: thank you
Apr 14, 2015 7:36 PM - Bill Monroe: any time
Apr 14, 2015 7:36 PM - TechSupportGo: whats up jb'
Apr 14, 2015 7:36 PM - jbigler1986: not much. about to take of this 14 hour print
    Apr 14, 2015 7:37 PM - jbigler1986: off*
Apr 14, 2015 7:37 PM - Wikid: Hey tech, those fans ducts what modle robo where you putting them on?
Apr 14, 2015 7:50 PM - TechSupportGo: sorry this is what I printed and it didnt fit http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:697200
Apr 14, 2015 7:50 PM - TechSupportGo: I didnt read the title I just saw screwless ... blah blah blah lol
    Apr 14, 2015 7:51 PM - Bill Monroe: Here's my fan: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7zzfu4hab3nugqx/IMG_2651.JPG?dl=0
Apr 14, 2015 7:54 PM - jbigler1986: i printed like 4 different ones. Then i ended up rigging some to work
Apr 14, 2015 7:54 PM - Bill Monroe: somebody here just pointed a desk fan at the build surface :)

Apr 14, 2015 7:55 PM - jbigler1986: is my robo bright enough now
Apr 14, 2015 7:55 PM - TechSupportGo: I had that and my wife was getting to hot so I lost it
    Apr 14, 2015 7:55 PM - jbigler1986: lol
Apr 14, 2015 7:55 PM - Mike Glass: Hey Tech this is what you want. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:720018

Apr 14, 2015 8:01 PM - jbigler1986: no filing or anything. gonna snap it together
Apr 14, 2015 8:01 PM - Bill Monroe: jb, I hate your guts, and your robo too
Apr 14, 2015 8:04 PM - Bill Monroe: good nite all

Apr 14, 2015 8:07 PM - jbigler1986: my wife saw it and had to have it
Apr 14, 2015 8:07 PM - Mike Glass: Night Bill
    Apr 14, 2015 8:08 PM - jbigler1986: about to take a light to it
    Apr 14, 2015 8:08 PM - jbigler1986: lighter
Apr 14, 2015 8:09 PM - TechSupportGo: what was it jb
Apr 14, 2015 8:09 PM - Mike Glass: Did you move your robo? looks like its by a windows now.
    Apr 14, 2015 8:09 PM - jbigler1986: added 2 more feet of lights
Apr 14, 2015 8:10 PM - TechSupportGo: what did you print?
    Apr 14, 2015 8:10 PM - jbigler1986: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:761744
Apr 14, 2015 8:11 PM - Mike Glass: DId you let S3D generate the support
Apr 14, 2015 8:14 PM - jbigler1986: I manually added it. It put it in the holes and stuff which i didn't need
Apr 14, 2015 8:14 PM - jbigler1986: strings removed. thanks for that tip
    Apr 14, 2015 8:31 PM - jbigler1986: question
Apr 14, 2015 8:32 PM - jbigler1986: trying to print a glider for my kids. s3d won't slice the part of the wind that is like 1 layer height
    Apr 14, 2015 8:33 PM - jbigler1986: if I add a raft it's fine
Apr 14, 2015 8:36 PM - Mike Glass: yea dont think that would come off
    Apr 14, 2015 8:37 PM - jbigler1986: I know
    Apr 14, 2015 8:37 PM - jbigler1986: hmmm
    Apr 14, 2015 8:40 PM - jbigler1986: slic3r sliced it fine
Apr 14, 2015 8:43 PM - Mike Glass: yea slic3r works better for thinner parts for some reason
Apr 14, 2015 8:47 PM - jbigler1986: screw it. gonna try with raft
Apr 14, 2015 8:50 PM - jbigler1986: started it. going to bed. see u guys tomorrow.
Apr 14, 2015 8:53 PM - Mike Glass: me too later

    Apr 15, 2015 at 4:51 AM - jbigler1986: good morning
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:18 AM - Greg Sheets: morning
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:19 AM - jbigler1986: anything good happening in your neck of the woods
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:21 AM - Stephen Capistron: Greg, you are from the Boston area right?
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:22 AM - Greg Sheets: not really, i'm procrastinating on re-soldering my bed to the new under bed chain
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:22 AM - Greg Sheets: Yup, in Boston
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:23 AM - Greg Sheets: I like your printer mod's. Did the z-ribbing get solved by the new stepper mount, or was it something else?
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:23 AM - Stephen Capistron: ok. I'm just a few miles north
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:23 AM - Greg Sheets: north where?
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:24 AM - Stephen Capistron: Melrose
    Apr 15, 2015 at 5:24 AM - Greg Sheets: I'm actually in Boxborough (25 mi west )
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:24 AM - Stephen Capistron: out in the sticks
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:25 AM - Greg Sheets: yup, way out. but it is quiet
    Apr 15, 2015 at 5:28 AM - jbigler1986: @Gregg were you asking me about the z ribbing?
    Apr 15, 2015 at 5:28 AM - Greg Sheets: yes, z ribbing
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:29 AM - Stephen Capistron: JB and I have no z ribbing issues anymore
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:29 AM - Greg Sheets: Your pic's (i.e. the square) looks really nice. Mine sometimes is nice, sometimes not so nice
    Apr 15, 2015 at 5:29 AM - jbigler1986: here is the lastest picture I posted of a part http://i.imgur.com/XlNMgXa.jpg
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:30 AM - Greg Sheets: cool, so was it the new stepper or something else that produced these results?
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:30 AM - JeffTheMess: morning roboneers
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:30 AM - jbigler1986: good stephen. the new rods was a night and day difference. I also have yet to have a failed print
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:31 AM - jbigler1986: @gregg bought new steppers with linear rods and installed those rods into the stock steppers
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:31 AM - Stephen Capistron: yes. switching to the integrated lead screw made a world of a difference
    Apr 15, 2015 at 5:32 AM - jbigler1986: it truly has
    Apr 15, 2015 at 5:32 AM - jbigler1986: best $98 I have spent yet on this baby
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:32 AM - Greg Sheets: ok, guess I need to add that to my list. I started from KK version, new feet, new fans, new z rod holder, MK's autolevel, MK's bed smooth rod bed holder
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:33 AM - Greg Sheets: and now, new z steppers on order :)
    Apr 15, 2015 at 5:33 AM - jbigler1986: http://community.robo3d.com/index.p...more-couplers-instructions-not-finished.5083/
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:33 AM - Stephen Capistron: You have Mike's Z autolevel with the solenoid?
    Apr 15, 2015 at 5:33 AM - jbigler1986: there is a guide that's i'm working on
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:34 AM - jbigler1986: i like his solenoid leveling. but i can't argue with my prints now so no reason for me to go that route
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:34 AM - Greg Sheets: no, just the z switches on both sides. I don't like this because of the flex in the glass bed, can't be accurate
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:35 AM - Stephen Capistron: i want to switch to the solenoid version at some point, but it is just good enough to not mess with right now
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:36 AM - jbigler1986: i should have got out my multimeter and testing the wiring on those new steppers. the wiring issue is bugging me. I just want to figure it out just so i know
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:37 AM - Stephen Capistron: i know. it puzzles me.
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:38 AM - Greg Sheets: Have you seen youtube video of making new z-coupler to address z-ribbing? Looks nice, but cost of buying 5/16 tap for one time use does not seem like a good idea
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:38 AM - jbigler1986: especially since they worked fine with the x axis plug
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:38 AM - Greg Sheets: what issue?
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:38 AM - jbigler1986: yeah. I just wanted to avoid a coupler all together. That's why I went my route
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:40 AM - Stephen Capistron: So the new steppers as received would run fine when plugged into the X-Axis just to see if they worked with the stepper drivers and such
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:40 AM - Stephen Capistron: But when plugged into the Z-axis location they would just wiggle back and forth
    Apr 15, 2015 at 5:40 AM - jbigler1986: and grind
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:41 AM - Stephen Capistron: my only guess is that one of the wires is crossed into the wrong position somewhere in the motor
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:41 AM - Greg Sheets: maybe a bad driver?
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:41 AM - jbigler1986: even when i swapped those 2 middle wires it did the exact same thing
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:41 AM - jbigler1986: no because for the stock steppers it works fine
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:42 AM - Greg Sheets: then maybe a bad connection inside the connector (i.e. bad pin)?
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:42 AM - jbigler1986: I think Bill make a good suggestion about it possible being because the Z wiring is split
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:43 AM - jbigler1986: are the z steppers running on the same driver?
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:43 AM - Greg Sheets: did you have both steppers connected when doing this "test"?
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:44 AM - jbigler1986: tried with both and with just one
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:44 AM - Greg Sheets: Yes, one driver, two steppers. Notice, when powered off, if you move one z stepper the other will move too
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:44 AM - Stephen Capistron: at first i thought i couldn't splice a connection to save my life
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:46 AM - jbigler1986: ended up soldering 16 wires by the end of that night
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:51 AM - jbigler1986: http://imgur.com/bn9mCX2 here is my print from yesterday
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:56 AM - Greg Sheets: nice, all one piece or multiple parts?
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:57 AM - jbigler1986: multiple. I could have done it all one if it was setup that way. i just downloaded it though
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:00 AM - Greg Sheets: My next print is going to be a red autopilot disconnect button for my airplane. My first "real" application of 3d printing
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:02 AM - jbigler1986: I have made a few actual parts that me or my wife needed. Mostly I print lots of nick knacks and stuff
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:03 AM - jbigler1986: printing some stackable drawers right now for some nut and bolts and other small stuff. Was going to take 31 hours so I put on my .8 nozzle and got it down to 9 hours
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:04 AM - Greg Sheets: are you using the "volcano" head to get 0.8 nozzle?
    Apr 15, 2015 at 6:04 AM - jbigler1986: nope. e3dv6
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:04 AM - jbigler1986: the hex can do .8 as well
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:05 AM - Greg Sheets: that's what I got too, but I thought you needed a new maybe bigger heater to do thicker stuff
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:05 AM - jbigler1986: nope. can't go above .8 though. No reason to really

Apr 15, 2015 at 6:07 AM - Greg Sheets: thats going to be next on my wish list, after z-ribbing debug and autolevel (solenoid or servo) upgrade
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:09 AM - Greg Sheets: do you still use 1.75mm and if so, how fast is the extruder running at 0.8?
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:09 AM - jbigler1986: if you have the money I would save the time and hassle and just do the new steppr/rod upgrade
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:10 AM - jbigler1986: yeah still 1.75 and not sure how fast it's going. haven't changed the extrusion or anything
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:10 AM - Greg Sheets: stepper already ordered... a few days away. But first need to get hotbed re-activated and the print the z coupler with switch holder
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:11 AM - Greg Sheets: OK, so you just update the layer height and extruder diameter and then print?
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:11 AM - jbigler1986: you are still going to be using a coupler?
    Apr 15, 2015 at 6:12 AM - Greg Sheets: this thingy http://i.imgur.com/9jpUf1Y.jpg
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:12 AM - jbigler1986: just change layer height and nozzle size. S3D does everything else
    Apr 15, 2015 at 6:13 AM - jbigler1986: oh yeah. that's mine. lol
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:13 AM - Greg Sheets: is it on thingverse?
    Apr 15, 2015 at 6:13 AM - jbigler1986: yes
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:15 AM - jbigler1986: I gave mike kelly the specs of my lead screw nut and he created that really quick. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:764780/#files
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:15 AM - Greg Sheets: which one did you use v3 or v3-27?
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:17 AM - Greg Sheets: where did you get nozzle?
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:17 AM - jbigler1986: not sure as he gave me the first one he created. I had to sand it a good amount to get the carriage to to lift from the switch smoothly or else it would just stick. So I told him to widened it a tiny bit so people won't have to sand it.
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:18 AM - jbigler1986: the 27 one is the wider one which is what i would use if i were you
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:19 AM - jbigler1986: you can see the one on the left installed on my stream
    Apr 15, 2015 at 6:19 AM - jbigler1986: nozzle i got from printedsolid
    Apr 15, 2015 at 6:21 AM - jbigler1986: and hi jeff. sorry
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:22 AM - Bill Monroe: Didnt we just pay txes a year ago?
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:22 AM - jbigler1986: you mean that happens every year?
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:25 AM - Bill Monroe: so a nutjob holding a long gun to his chin is walking down a street in Arizona, and a cop runs him over at high speed....
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:25 AM - Bill Monroe: what's wrong with that?
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:25 AM - Bill Monroe: I dont see the problem
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:26 AM - jbigler1986: yeah i saw that this morning. is the cop getting in trouble for that? if so that's complete bull
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:26 AM - Bill Monroe: dunno.. let me go look

Apr 15, 2015 at 6:27 AM - jbigler1986: he has seen what happens to cops shooting guys recently so I don't blame him at all
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:28 AM - Bill Monroe: I'd say he's not going to get into any trouble - "Marana Police Chief Terry Rozema defended the officer's actions and told CNN that the decision likely saved the man's life. "
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:29 AM - Bill Monroe: they should add spikes to the car's bumper.... call it the "Gene Pool Filter Upgrade"
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:31 AM - jbigler1986: yeah the guy walked out of the hospital like 2 days later. well in handcuffs i think
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:32 AM - Bill Monroe: pity
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:33 AM - Bill Monroe: I hope the cop's nightstivk fell out of it's holster and landed on the perp's face.. a few dozen times

Apr 15, 2015 at 6:51 AM - Stephen Capistron: anything 12V will do
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:51 AM - Stephen Capistron: A 5V will run for all of 1 second before the little more goes up in smoke, but for that 1 second you will think you have the greatest fan ever
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:52 AM - Bill Monroe: i gotta get a better USB camera
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:53 AM - Bill Monroe: they just dont have a good selection at Salvation Army

Apr 15, 2015 at 6:55 AM - Stephen Capistron: if the fan is a 3 pin just ignore the yellow wire
    Apr 15, 2015 at 6:56 AM - Shank: will
    Apr 15, 2015 at 6:56 AM - Shank: do
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:56 AM - jbigler1986: ^^^ I tried to wired the yellow to 12v to keep it constant and had issues.
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:57 AM - jbigler1986: I have done it before on other projects without issue but on the Robo it kept shutting the fan off and on
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:57 AM - Shank: I'll just look for a two wired fan
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:58 AM - Bill Monroe: I make a point to ignore the yellow wire throughout my daily life
Apr 15, 2015 at 6:58 AM - jbigler1986: No. you can just cut the yellow wire and it will be fine.
    Apr 15, 2015 at 6:59 AM - Shank: Alright

Apr 15, 2015 at 7:06 AM - Bill Monroe: whole incident

    Apr 15, 2015 at 7:26 AM - jbigler1986: morning
    Apr 15, 2015 at 7:30 AM - jbigler1986: i keep forgetting that i'm printing something
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:30 AM - jbigler1986: how did the engine block turn out
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:31 AM - Mike Kelly: still chugging along
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:32 AM - jbigler1986: good. how much filament used?
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:32 AM - Mike Kelly: i need to go check, it uses like 300g total
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:32 AM - jbigler1986: not bad for how big it is
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:33 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:35 AM - jbigler1986: i need to mount my camera on the bed or something. it's hard to see the actual layers
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:37 AM - Mike Kelly: there just adjusted the camera
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:37 AM - Mike Kelly: it says it's 38 hours in but only 75% complete
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:37 AM - Mike Kelly: apparently simplify's estimate was way off
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:38 AM - jbigler1986: yeah mine is usually off by like an hour. so multiply that for a 38 hour print. I would say it's about 4 or 5 hours off
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:38 AM - Mike Kelly: i just hope it's done before COB
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:39 AM - jbigler1986: you have 8 hours or so for that. With my quick calculation you should be good
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:42 AM - jbigler1986: manually added support in s3d stayed on the bed when i removed parts last night. lol
    Apr 15, 2015 at 7:42 AM - Mike Kelly: according to the 75% it'll take 50 hours
    Apr 15, 2015 at 7:43 AM - jbigler1986: well nevermind then. hmm
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:43 AM - Mike Kelly: we'll see it doesn't look that far from being finished
    Apr 15, 2015 at 7:43 AM - jbigler1986: time to work late :p
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:43 AM - Mike Kelly: oh wait yes it does
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:44 AM - jbigler1986: is there a setting to change to print really thin parts in s3d? or nothing i can do about it
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:44 AM - Mike Kelly: like a spiral vase?
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:45 AM - jbigler1986: no like a glider plane. so the wings are only like 1 or 2 layers
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:45 AM - jbigler1986: it will only slice like half of the wings
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:47 AM - Mike Kelly: ohh

    Apr 15, 2015 at 7:47 AM - jbigler1986: i tried with .1, .15, .2
    Apr 15, 2015 at 7:47 AM - Mike Kelly: .05?
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:48 AM - jbigler1986: didn't try with that. on the intrustions they say .15

Apr 15, 2015 at 8:20 AM - Mike Kelly: the pins don't seat well enough so i lose signal
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:22 AM - jbigler1986: you crimped connectors didn't you? i was looking at that route last night and then though my way would be much easier
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:22 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah crimp

Apr 15, 2015 at 8:25 AM - jbigler1986: kinda want to make some kind of bracket/case for the connectors where they will connect together so you can only see the wires going into it

    Apr 15, 2015 at 9:03 AM - Stephen Capistron: http://www.brainydeep.com/store/urchin-extruder-hardware-kit
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:04 AM - Stephen Capistron: appears to be
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Stephen Capistron: it seems pretty darn small
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:09 AM - Stephen Capistron: my only concern would be backlash from the worm gear setup
    Apr 15, 2015 at 9:10 AM - Bill Monroe: ohya, I called it http://www.theverge.com/2015/4/14/8417621/watch-spacex-falcon-9-rocket-landing
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Mike Kelly: pretty badass though
    Apr 15, 2015 at 9:13 AM - jbigler1986: so close
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:13 AM - Stephen Capistron: close only counts in horseshoes and hang grenades
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:14 AM - Mike Kelly: i bet they'll get it on the next one
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:14 AM - Stephen Capistron: or the one after that ;)
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:14 AM - Mike Kelly: what i don't get is why the chase plane was so far away when they knew where the landing pad was...
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:14 AM - Bill Monroe: if you listen to Musk, that was a success\
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:14 AM - Mike Kelly: unless there was a bunch of landing pads
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:14 AM - Mike Kelly: well it did land successfully
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:15 AM - Bill Monroe: how do you figure... it's in pieces at the bottom of the ocean
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:15 AM - Mike Kelly: just created a disturbance that prevented it from stabilizing completely
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:15 AM - Bill Monroe: that's like calling driving your car through your house a parking success
    Apr 15, 2015 at 9:15 AM - Mike Kelly: that's not a good analogy
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:17 AM - Mike Kelly: still a monumental feat of engineering
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:18 AM - jbigler1986: they are going to need to add a way to stabilize it as soon as it lands or it will happen again
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:18 AM - Stephen Capistron: dumb question. what is wrong with a parachute?
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:20 AM - Stephen Capistron: There are drop cargo systems with gps guiding. Can land a pallet in a football field pretty easily.
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:20 AM - Mike Kelly: parachute still lands in the ocean
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:20 AM - Mike Kelly: also hard to slow down something going mach speeds
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:20 AM - Stephen Capistron: so land in the desert
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:20 AM - Stephen Capistron: tell that to felix
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:20 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah good luck with that
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:20 AM - Mike Kelly: felix road a balloon
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:21 AM - Stephen Capistron: what i'm getting at i guess is "fake land" at several thousand feet and parachute from there
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:22 AM - Mike Kelly: if you want me to ask my astronautical engineering friend i can, but i'm pretty sure it's unfeasible to slow a rocket down going mach speeds with a parachute

Apr 15, 2015 at 9:23 AM - Stephen Capistron: use the current reverse thrust system to slow down a lot / all the way at altitude and then use the chute from there
    Apr 15, 2015 at 9:24 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i dunno
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:24 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm thinking you'd still land in the ocean
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:25 AM - Stephen Capistron: perfect idea. Take the roof off the astrodome and fill it with packing peanuts
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:25 AM - Mike Kelly: hahahaha

Apr 15, 2015 at 9:29 AM - Mike Kelly: it needs to be thursday, i'm going through hockey withdrawl
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:33 AM - jbigler1986: That guy hopefully starts a troubleshooting thread

Apr 15, 2015 at 9:34 AM - jbigler1986: I didn't crap about 3d printers at first. I bugged the crap out of all of you and now look.
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:34 AM - jbigler1986: Just takes time and not be afraid to ask for help
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:35 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah some people just don't follow good troubleshooting techniques and then end up causing more problems, never reaching out for help until the small issue is now huge.
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:38 AM - jbigler1986: I will never get mad at someone for asking for help. Even if the fix has been stated several times. Sometimes some people don't understand curtain things. Frustrating at times yes. That's why we are here though
    Apr 15, 2015 at 9:39 AM - jbigler1986: certain*

Apr 15, 2015 at 9:49 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah you just can't leave heat on too long
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:50 AM - jbigler1986: it's all fine stringing though. even on this print
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:50 AM - Stephen Capistron: so this is overkill

Apr 15, 2015 at 10:13 AM - Mike Kelly: you should switch to herringbones
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:15 AM - jbigler1986: yeah. it's not very load but they are getting this silver coloring. I need re calibrate extruder if i do though don't i
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:15 AM - jbigler1986: you can see it on the small gear
    Apr 15, 2015 at 10:16 AM - jbigler1986: horrible grammar
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:17 AM - Mike Kelly: i never understood why loud and load are spelt the way they are
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:17 AM - Mike Kelly: neither makes sense really
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:18 AM - jbigler1986: i couldn't imagine learning english as a 2nd language. I would be like this makes no sense
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:18 AM - Stephen Capistron: lode
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:18 AM - Stephen Capistron: that makes sense

Apr 15, 2015 at 10:19 AM - Mike Kelly: it's a really badly devised language
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:21 AM - Wikid: Its funny how many of the words in the engilish language are not even in other languages
    Apr 15, 2015 at 10:21 AM - Wikid: english*

Apr 15, 2015 at 10:32 AM - Mike Kelly: what part of the engine compartment
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:33 AM - Wikid: I want to make some seperationn clamps for some hardline
    Apr 15, 2015 at 10:33 AM - jbigler1986: he printed a cylinder

Apr 15, 2015 at 10:35 AM - Mike Kelly: is stephen still around?
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:36 AM - Mike Kelly: i would use ABS for an engine compartment but PETG might work
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:36 AM - Wikid: I cant seem to find the specs for eSun PETG
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:37 AM - Wikid: I have seen people put it in boiling water

Apr 15, 2015 at 10:42 AM - Mike Kelly: Is a planer/jointer the only way to get flat pieces from rough cut wood?
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:43 AM - Stephen Capistron: for big wide stuff, pretty much
    Apr 15, 2015 at 10:43 AM - Mike Kelly: like this? http://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-15-amp-12-1-2-in-Corded-Planer-DW734/100634640?N=5yc1vZc27y
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:43 AM - Stephen Capistron: You could be a large engraver / CNC :D
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:43 AM - Mike Kelly: or could i get away with something like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...19544&sr=8-10&keywords=wood planer&pldnSite=1
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:44 AM - Stephen Capistron: if you just want the short edge to be square to the long one a jointer is the way to go
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:44 AM - Stephen Capistron: or set up your router table or table saw real nice and you'll get there
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:44 AM - Mike Kelly: how would i do it on my table saw
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:45 AM - Mike Kelly: i saw someone made a jig to do it
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:45 AM - Mike Kelly: i tried cutting some for the post table i was working and they're very not flat
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:45 AM - Stephen Capistron: depends on what edge you ant as the reference edge
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:47 AM - Stephen Capistron: if you want two sides to be parallel you'd have to go with a big planer
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:47 AM - Stephen Capistron: if you want a short side perpindicular to a long side that is a piece of cake
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:47 AM - Mike Kelly: how would i manage that

Apr 15, 2015 at 10:48 AM - Stephen Capistron: if you want a long side perpendicular to a short side it gets a little tricky
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:49 AM - Mike Kelly: i just want it so that all 4 pieces are the same thickness with a flat top
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:49 AM - Stephen Capistron: You could raise your table saw blade up all the way and give that a go, but that is only likely to get you maybe a 6" worth
    Apr 15, 2015 at 10:49 AM - Mike Kelly: that's what i tried
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:50 AM - Stephen Capistron: yeah in practice it doesn't work too well
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:50 AM - Mike Kelly: there's 2 pieces that came out decently well and 2 that are very off
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:50 AM - Stephen Capistron: a band saw would get you there
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:51 AM - Stephen Capistron: put a big deep blade on it so the cut is straightish
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:51 AM - Mike Kelly: it's amazing to me how much depth there is in wood working
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:52 AM - Mike Kelly: and how many tools you need to do seemingly basic things
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:52 AM - Stephen Capistron: more than one way to skin a cat
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:52 AM - Stephen Capistron: unless you are mel brooks
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:52 AM - Mike Kelly: would a powered hand planer be worth it?
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:52 AM - Stephen Capistron: then there is only one way, step on the tail, grab it buy the nose and pull
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:53 AM - Stephen Capistron: maybe
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:53 AM - Stephen Capistron: does your house also have a bunch of doors that are kind of tight
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:53 AM - Mike Kelly: not really
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:54 AM - Stephen Capistron: hand power planers are great, but there just aren't a lot of other uses for them
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:55 AM - Stephen Capistron: AH
    Apr 15, 2015 at 10:56 AM - jbigler1986: http://m.imgur.com/7zLwLzR,xkMXehr,VFGv3Ac,BXZxHd1
    Apr 15, 2015 at 10:56 AM - jbigler1986: ignore that
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:56 AM - Stephen Capistron: You could make your own power planer. Put the biggest blade you can on your router and setup a couple of rails for the bottom surface to ride on. Clamp the board in place under the rails and smooth a section. Shift everything over and repeat
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:57 AM - Mike Kelly: jb the mounting of your tool holder bothers me
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:57 AM - Stephen Capistron: i really just want to put a self drilling sheet metal screw through that thing
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:57 AM - Stephen Capistron: it makes me nervous
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:59 AM - Mike Kelly: i should really take a class
Apr 15, 2015 at 10:59 AM - Mike Kelly: that's what i asked the misses for for my birthday
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:00 AM - Stephen Capistron: you do have a woodcraft nearish to you
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:00 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah that's where i was looking
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:01 AM - jbigler1986: MK i'm gonna add more velcro to make it look even worse.
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:02 AM - jbigler1986: I picked up some double sided tape last night. I will fix it
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:02 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:02 AM - Mike Kelly: does my design not fit?
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:03 AM - jbigler1986: it needs a little help to keep it on. The tape will make it a lot better
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:04 AM - Mike Kelly: i guess i usually bolt mine down because it's a little snug
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:04 AM - jbigler1986: the velcro i have is really thick. Plus i have it on the top and the side
    Apr 15, 2015 at 11:04 AM - jbigler1986: didn't want it to go anywhere
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:04 AM - Stephen Capistron: make sure you get a little router table with that router
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:05 AM - Mike Kelly: i have a router and router table
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:05 AM - Mike Kelly: i've got a nice router actually, but the table leaves something to be desired
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:05 AM - Mike Kelly: it's a black and decker i found at a garage sale
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:06 AM - Stephen Capistron: what are you hoping the misses gets you, a band saw?
    Apr 15, 2015 at 11:06 AM - Mike Kelly: a class
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:06 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm not sure she's gonna buy me any tools this year
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:08 AM - Mike Kelly: i wanna make some better sleds
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:08 AM - Mike Kelly: the 45's i cut using the miter pusher didn't come out as nice as i'd hope
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:14 AM - jbigler1986: getting a .25 from Matt. Gonna see how close I can get to not being able to see layers.
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:14 AM - jbigler1986: It's gonna be dangerous once he adds all of his items that he has.
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:15 AM - Stephen Capistron: just put on some beer goggles
    Apr 15, 2015 at 11:15 AM - jbigler1986: lol. if only I drank more
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:16 AM - Mike Kelly: what do you think is most useful to have, drill press, compound miter saw, or band saw
    Apr 15, 2015 at 11:16 AM - jbigler1986: I would like to have a band saw
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:16 AM - Stephen Capistron: do you already have a mitre saw?
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:17 AM - Mike Kelly: i have none of those options
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:17 AM - Mike Kelly: including regular mitre
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:18 AM - Stephen Capistron: if so you could go drill press or band saw, which i would probably lean towards a band saw and build MGs little EMT tube based CNC and use it as a digital control pilot press
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:18 AM - Stephen Capistron: So a mitre saw is really only good for rough framing type work
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:18 AM - Stephen Capistron: they aren't great for furniture grade things
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:18 AM - Mike Kelly: gotcha
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:19 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i like that thing MG's working on
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:19 AM - Stephen Capistron: if you were building a deck, get a miter saw
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:19 AM - jbigler1986: miter saws are pretty inexpensive
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:19 AM - Stephen Capistron: you can make most of your angled cuts on a table saw and they should come out a lot better
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:20 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i guess i just need to work on being more precise with them
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:21 AM - Mike Kelly: i kind clamped the work piece to the miter pusher and i think that made them better
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:21 AM - Mike Kelly: first one i just held down and i think that's the one that's off angle
Apr 15, 2015 at 11:21 AM - Mike Kelly: i should have plenty of wood now that i'm making the whole thing 6" wide instead of 8"

Apr 15, 2015 at 2:33 PM - Mike Kelly: then make shrouds for that
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:33 PM - Mike Kelly: if you want
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:33 PM - Mike Kelly: i don't like the designs that limit build volume
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:33 PM - Mike Glass: I thought you had one
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:34 PM - Mike Kelly: not for a single extruder
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:34 PM - Mike Glass: The one for the hex needs to modified btw, the screw that holds the switch is in the way.
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:36 PM - Mike Kelly: oh
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:36 PM - Mike Kelly: that damn switch
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:37 PM - Mike Kelly: can someone give me dimensions for that
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:37 PM - Mike Glass: yea, think you built of the old carriage
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:37 PM - Mike Kelly: yup i didn't think about that thing
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:39 PM - Mike Glass: and the unknown thing on the side (like a mount for something) is on the frontside instead of back compared to stock.
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:39 PM - Mike Kelly: i kept that in the same position as the file i received
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:39 PM - Mike Kelly: i assumed it was a place to ziptie wires ontro
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:39 PM - Mike Glass: haha, how funny then
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:40 PM - Mike Kelly: do you know where exactly the scre hits the part?
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:40 PM - Mike Glass: yea let me look at your thingiverse
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:40 PM - Mike Kelly: since i don't think my model deviates from the one i received
    Apr 15, 2015 at 2:41 PM - Mike Kelly: http://i.imgur.com/kKxeRe2.jpg
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:42 PM - Mike Glass: somebody drilled it
    Apr 15, 2015 at 2:43 PM - Mike Kelly: that's jb's
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:43 PM - Mike Kelly: he did that to fit the e3dv6
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:46 PM - Mike Kelly: this day is annoying me
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:47 PM - Mike Glass: http://imgur.com/vW1c1Ku if you want I ca get you a pic of my stock one tonight.
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:48 PM - Mike Glass: Jb must be headed home.
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:52 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah if you could get me dimensions of where it fits
Apr 15, 2015 at 2:54 PM - Mike Kelly: *sits
    Apr 15, 2015 at 2:56 PM - Mike Glass: fits,sit,shits
    Apr 15, 2015 at 3:05 PM - jbigler1986: Back

Apr 15, 2015 at 3:06 PM - jbigler1986: Let me remove these parts then I will show you my ghetto rigged fans on my stream or if u would rather me take a pic
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:08 PM - Mike Kelly: ok i got the stream up
    Apr 15, 2015 at 3:08 PM - jbigler1986: K
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:09 PM - Mike Kelly: ok so you glued it
    Apr 15, 2015 at 3:09 PM - jbigler1986: Yep
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:10 PM - jbigler1986: They were either to low or to high and pointing at heat block or hitting the heat block
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:13 PM - Mike Kelly: well i don't wanna design anything that would hit the enclosure
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:14 PM - jbigler1986: i would be fine with your hex design. are the ducts really necessary
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:15 PM - Mike Kelly: i haven't been entirely convinced they don't do more harm than good
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:17 PM - jbigler1986: without them it would be a more even air flow
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:18 PM - jbigler1986: i've got my .8 nozzle on so i'm ready to rock out some mk prototypes
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:18 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah it's kind of a "do you want to be heating the filament as soon as it leave the nozzle or do you want to be cooling the entire part
    Apr 15, 2015 at 3:19 PM - Mike Glass: I would use a .8 for that.
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:19 PM - Mike Glass: would not use
    Apr 15, 2015 at 3:20 PM - jbigler1986: why not
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:21 PM - Mike Glass: If it is a big part yeah, but small parts it will not fit if you want exact.
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:23 PM - jbigler1986: Just for a proof of concept it would be fine
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:23 PM - jbigler1986: Any of the fan stuff shouldn't be an issue
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:24 PM - jbigler1986: Small holes and stuff yes
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:28 PM - Mike Glass: With that steep of angles I guess you will find out.
    Apr 15, 2015 at 3:29 PM - jbigler1986: I just printed some 45 degrees fine
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:30 PM - Mike Glass: I was thinking like mikes other fans for the ultimate
    Apr 15, 2015 at 3:30 PM - jbigler1986: Not sure I have seen them

    Apr 15, 2015 at 3:45 PM - jbigler1986: Would that work
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:47 PM - Mike Kelly: don't see why not
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:50 PM - jbigler1986: trying to figure out how it all attaches exactly
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:51 PM - Mike Kelly: with the screw for mounting the gregs wade
    Apr 15, 2015 at 3:51 PM - jbigler1986: gotcha. just saw that
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:52 PM - jbigler1986: do i need the hotend mount too?
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:53 PM - jbigler1986: gonna print one real quick
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:54 PM - jbigler1986: see how it works out
Apr 15, 2015 at 3:57 PM - jbigler1986: is that similiar to what you were thinking
    Apr 15, 2015 at 4:01 PM - jbigler1986: stream is up

Apr 15, 2015 at 5:10 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm thinking about how to redesign my extruder carriage
    Apr 15, 2015 at 5:12 PM - Wikid: for?
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:14 PM - Mike Kelly: to replace my current one
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:14 PM - Mike Kelly: make some improvements, fix the crack
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:14 PM - Mike Kelly: i think i have a bad bearing or something, it's moving really wonky
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:16 PM - Wikid: I really want to go to dual extrusion, trying to decide if I want to save for the chimera or get another hexagon. But I want to make my current one bowden to know what i would be getting into.
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:16 PM - jbigler1986: i bet i could use your little fan ducts on these if i wanted to mk
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:16 PM - Mike Kelly: good plan
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:17 PM - jbigler1986: will see how much space is available first

Apr 15, 2015 at 5:18 PM - Mike Glass: Mike it is 3.90 mm center to center from the top fan screw
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:19 PM - jbigler1986: is that a duct for the hex?
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:19 PM - Mike Glass: yeppers
Apr 15, 2015 at 5:20 PM - Wikid: I want to design a carriage like Dons so I could mount the cooling fan for them on top

Apr 15, 2015 at 7:42 PM - Bill Monroe: maybe under water it doesnt need support?
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:43 PM - TechSupportGo: I think I am going to print the dual fan mount again in red this time it looks like one of my fans is uneven ?
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:43 PM - jbigler1986: red, clear, blue, black, pink, silver, gold, orange, white?

Apr 15, 2015 at 7:43 PM - Wikid: if you do it underwater it wouldnt need any fans either, wouldnt need to heat the water
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:44 PM - Mike Glass: Tech, He forget about the new carriage that has the screw for the microswitch I think he is fixing it now.

Apr 15, 2015 at 7:48 PM - TechSupportGo: so if you put a smaller nozzle you get higher res?
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:48 PM - Mike Glass: pay for 3 for that price
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:48 PM - Mike Glass: Its just better for really small parts
    Apr 15, 2015 at 7:49 PM - jbigler1986: he doesn't have a 2
    Apr 15, 2015 at 7:49 PM - jbigler1986: smallest is .25

    Apr 15, 2015 at 7:50 PM - Wikid: Anyone use Hatchbox's ABS?
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:50 PM - Mike Glass: All my blue on my robo is the hatchbox abs
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:50 PM - Mike Glass: prints like butter
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:50 PM - TechSupportGo: I have it but only used it once for a part under the bed

Apr 15, 2015 at 7:51 PM - Mike Glass: define bad, does it make you sick no, not too strong, but can smell it really bad if you stick you nose in the printer
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:52 PM - Mike Glass: Stock Hex actually
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:52 PM - TechSupportGo: dude the entire robo is there!! MK you're the man!!

Apr 15, 2015 at 7:53 PM - jbigler1986: won't fit on the front. oh well
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:53 PM - Mike Kelly: bummer
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:53 PM - Mike Glass: You have to modify them though, but if you have a drill and a dremel it takes 10 seconds
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:53 PM - Mike Kelly: i've been around just poking around in solidworks
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:54 PM - TechSupportGo: MK are you working on that dual fan mount?
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:54 PM - Mike Kelly: not at the moment, it need to track it down to make the changes mike was telling me
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:55 PM - Mike Glass: I know what your saying Tech mine is off to once side also.
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:55 PM - TechSupportGo: about to fix it real quick so i can start print
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:55 PM - Wikid: are the extruder nozzles universial?
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:55 PM - TechSupportGo: did it mess with your auto level?
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:55 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.sliptalk.com/fiery-vortex/?utm_source=soed&ts_pid=2&ts_pid=2 i need to go buy some more box fans asap
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:55 PM - Mike Kelly: e3d nozzles are longer than hexagons
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:55 PM - Mike Glass: No nothing to do with autolevel
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:56 PM - Mike Kelly: most everything uses M6 however
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:56 PM - Mike Glass: but will fit on hexagons, but hex wont fit e3d
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:56 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:56 PM - Mike Glass: unless you modify like I have done
    Apr 15, 2015 at 7:56 PM - Wikid: so, buy E3d
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:57 PM - Mike Kelly: i wonder what bills secret project is about
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:57 PM - Mike Glass: Why, Hex works great
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:57 PM - Mike Kelly: almost all nozzles will work on the hexagon, the E3D is limited to it's ecosystem
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:58 PM - TechSupportGo: which one does the stock robo r1 have?
    Apr 15, 2015 at 7:58 PM - jbigler1986: e3d is nice to clean jams
    Apr 15, 2015 at 7:58 PM - jbigler1986: hex
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:58 PM - Wikid: Because I don't want different types of nozzles I will have e3d on my other printer
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:59 PM - TechSupportGo: I am going to buy fans right now
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:59 PM - Wikid: And possibly this one will get the chimera
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:59 PM - TechSupportGo: going to point 12 of them at my robo!!!!
Apr 15, 2015 at 7:59 PM - TechSupportGo: then open a portal to 3d hell
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:00 PM - TechSupportGo: or have really solid prints lol
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:01 PM - TechSupportGo: MK can I get that sldprt file for dual mount? I thought it was in the zip file for some reason duh :) thanks
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:02 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:02 PM - Mike Kelly: that's kinda tricky because it's based off the original source file
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:02 PM - Mike Kelly: lemme take a look at it
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:02 PM - TechSupportGo: I meant duh as in I should have known better
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:02 PM - TechSupportGo: the title says stock!!
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:04 PM - TechSupportGo: I have been trying to edit stl parts in solidworks by defining variables but its not working and without history its terrible
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:05 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i don't think i'll be able to give you the original file with a feature tree
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:05 PM - Mike Kelly: since i got it from robo
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:05 PM - TechSupportGo: I can just flip the original down the z
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:05 PM - Mike Kelly: i can give you the defeatured version i have on here
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:05 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm having trouble finding my original
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:06 PM - Mike Glass: just slice and glue
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:08 PM - TechSupportGo: I found it hexfanholder about to edit
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:09 PM - Mike Kelly: did you want the original or dual?
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:09 PM - TechSupportGo: looks like my cpu will take a min to rebuild I should get a faster computer

    Apr 15, 2015 at 8:11 PM - Mike Kelly: here's the defeatured version, i can't find my damn original: https://www.dropbox.com/s/v2rm1byg7ez2xsc/Hex Fan Dual.SLDPRT?dl=0
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:12 PM - Mike Kelly: once i find my original i'll edit it to account for the screw
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:12 PM - Mike Kelly: i'll never understand how robo can have these old files that are different from what's been molded
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:13 PM - TechSupportGo: I can run a diag on that real quick thanks
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:13 PM - Mike Kelly: ah hah found the original
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:14 PM - Mike Kelly: oh wait no... i'm dumb
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:14 PM - TechSupportGo: I will run recognize features and it should be good to edit
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:16 PM - Mike Kelly: well i'll still do it so the one on thingiverse works
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:17 PM - Mike Glass: that almost never works
    Apr 15, 2015 at 8:17 PM - Mike Kelly: ^
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:17 PM - Mike Glass: oh but it did this time
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:17 PM - Mike Glass: .ol
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:18 PM - Mike Glass: still looks funky for some reason though
    Apr 15, 2015 at 8:23 PM - Mike Kelly: >=( where's that damn file
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:27 PM - TechSupportGo: making improvements as we speak adding a groove for the wires as well

Apr 15, 2015 at 8:28 PM - Mike Kelly: i see where my error stemmed
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:28 PM - TechSupportGo: gonna share in a sec
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:33 PM - Mike Kelly: don't bother uploading it, i'll just put it up on mine
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:34 PM - TechSupportGo: I was just gonna share it here
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:35 PM - Wikid: Hey MK what was the extruder you were going to get agin?
    Apr 15, 2015 at 8:35 PM - jbigler1986: printing a gold mario

    Apr 15, 2015 at 8:42 PM - Mike Glass: Did I say 3.9mm Mike
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:44 PM - Wikid: Glass how fast do you print with a .8 nozzle?
    Apr 15, 2015 at 8:45 PM - jbigler1986: I do 35mm/s. That my speed I print all nozzles at
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:45 PM - Mike Glass: depends what it is I getss but usually slower
    Apr 15, 2015 at 8:46 PM - Wikid: hmm
    Apr 15, 2015 at 8:46 PM - jbigler1986: I should drop to 30
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:46 PM - Mike Glass: If I have translucents I go slowwwwww. to get a better glass effect
    Apr 15, 2015 at 8:46 PM - Wikid: yea
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:46 PM - Mike Glass: Thats all I really use with it anyways.
    Apr 15, 2015 at 8:47 PM - Mike Kelly: you said 3.9
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:47 PM - Wikid: I need to do some adjusting on mine, my corners buldge a little at 100mm/s
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:47 PM - Mike Kelly: not sure what you meant though
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:48 PM - Mike Glass: ok, 3.9 mm from the screw hole to the other screw
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:48 PM - Mike Glass: on center
    Apr 15, 2015 at 8:48 PM - TechSupportGo: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8FWeUGKaHaxRm9EYW9nVWhJTlE/view?usp=sharing
    Apr 15, 2015 at 8:49 PM - jbigler1986: 100mm/s. Stock speed is 60. Slow it down
    Apr 15, 2015 at 8:49 PM - Wikid: pfft,
    Apr 15, 2015 at 8:49 PM - Wikid: 100mms .3 layer running beautifuly
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:49 PM - jbigler1986: That's madness. If ur happy though then nothing else matters

Apr 15, 2015 at 8:50 PM - Mike Glass: I did that with xt, with .8 nozzle
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:50 PM - Wikid: Ive done some priting at 140mms start getting strange finish though
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:51 PM - Mike Kelly: night
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:51 PM - Wikid: really at .3 100 and 50 look the same on the surfaces. larger parts I run 100 smaller ones I slow down
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:51 PM - Mike Glass: There is no way you can get good layer adhesion with those speeds
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:51 PM - Wikid: later MK
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:52 PM - Mike Glass: not with my filament anyways
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:52 PM - Wikid: I only run PLA this fast
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:52 PM - Wikid: the PETG I ran at 50 and the XT was also 50
    Apr 15, 2015 at 8:52 PM - jbigler1986: 100 vs 50 should definitely have a difference
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:52 PM - Wikid: its just a tool holder.....I think it will be fine =P
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:53 PM - Mike Glass: I cant run xt unless its at a crawl
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:53 PM - jbigler1986: At least on the robo
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:54 PM - Wikid: I dont run small parts at high speeds only large parts that have large amounts of infill, so I dont get alot of change in directions
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:55 PM - Wikid: im still not sure why you have such an issue with XT printing
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:56 PM - jbigler1986: Anything over 60 with stock carriage and direct feed I see having issues
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:56 PM - Wikid: issues with what?
    Apr 15, 2015 at 8:56 PM - jbigler1986: Adhesion, quality etc...
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:58 PM - Wikid: not really having an issue with any of that. only quality issue I have is sharp corners but thats cause I need to adjust the jerk and accel
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:59 PM - Wikid: Still quiet too
Apr 15, 2015 at 8:59 PM - jbigler1986: What mods have you done
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:00 PM - Wikid: dual fans, herringbone gears, Z axis Isolators, solid Z couplers, feet, dual 60mm fans for the electronics and LCD
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:00 PM - Wikid: cable chain also

Apr 15, 2015 at 9:06 PM - jbigler1986: I didn't even want to mess with any if that. Went straight for the upgrade. People have have good results with just printed couples
    Apr 15, 2015 at 9:07 PM - jbigler1986: Couplers

Apr 15, 2015 at 9:09 PM - Wikid: I was going to do the upgrade but didnt want to spend the money, for the most part its all gone
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:09 PM - Mike Glass: Mine was all free..lol
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:09 PM - jbigler1986: Robo sent those to you didn't they mike

Apr 15, 2015 at 9:11 PM - Wikid: I just wanted it to print nice enough parts for making the spider V2
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:11 PM - Mike Glass: Why not just get them free and then do the print it forward, think thats what im going to do
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:12 PM - Wikid: I like doing it myself
Apr 15, 2015 at 9:13 PM - Mike Glass: After 120+ hours on this cnc Im not sure I want to do that again..lol

Apr 16, 2015 at 5:35 AM - Bill Monroe: it looks like my bowden wasnt able to handle the pressure created in the extruder when using other filaments..
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:37 AM - JeffTheMess: good morning folks
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:38 AM - Bill Monroe: Jeff
    Apr 16, 2015 at 5:38 AM - jbigler1986: morning
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:39 AM - JeffTheMess: haven't been to "active" here got so much going on at work ugh
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:39 AM - Bill Monroe: I know the feeling
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:40 AM - Bill Monroe: i only get to fool with 3D printing in the hours before dawn when y homework is caught up :)
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:40 AM - jbigler1986: starting next week i will be slammed for a while
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:41 AM - jbigler1986: thankfully now it's just loading a file and starting a print now though
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:41 AM - Bill Monroe: when you gunna learn sketchup jb?
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:42 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah its getting tough here with an audit coming up and projects and blah blah blah
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:42 AM - JeffTheMess: Sketchup!?
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: FDA audit?
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:42 AM - jbigler1986: not sure if I will go sketchup or solidworks. what do you suggest
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:42 AM - JeffTheMess: NVLAP audit
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:42 AM - JeffTheMess: go with solidworks
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:43 AM - Bill Monroe: well, I'm certified Solidworks developer so I'm biased, but a lot of people like and use Sketchup
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:44 AM - JeffTheMess: I think for jb and what he has been printing so far, solidworks would be best for him
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:44 AM - Bill Monroe: ive been using SW since the mid 90s when it was new
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:46 AM - jbigler1986: i can do basic basic stuff in solidworks. i made a mount that was just a bunch of extruded rectangles with dimensions i added. created an angled hole, text wrapped, made a spacer, engraved text. just basic basic stuff.
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:46 AM - Bill Monroe: well if you gone that far.. keep going..
    Apr 16, 2015 at 5:47 AM - JeffTheMess: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCb1HO-KRM_U9e8eMpm_yPzg
    Apr 16, 2015 at 5:47 AM - JeffTheMess: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcPFnZ3FGGxTBFK1ndUcIxQ
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:48 AM - JeffTheMess: youtube tuts they have solidworks for aswell
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:50 AM - jbigler1986: like i was going to attempt my own duct yesterday then i was like damn. gotta get the fan dimensions, the carriage dimensions, distance from carriage to nozzle tip, distance to heat block
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:50 AM - JeffTheMess: keep in mind these guys have objects they made but its not about the objects they make but the techniques they use to make them
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:51 AM - Bill Monroe: I used intergraphics in the 80s, switched to Pro-E in the late 80's.. when Solidworks hit the market I never looked back
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:51 AM - JeffTheMess: right once you have all that it should be simple
    Apr 16, 2015 at 5:51 AM - JeffTheMess: ahh... the 80s
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:52 AM - Bill Monroe: the 70s were better... except for that whole disco thing
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:52 AM - jbigler1986: yeah i'm sure it will not be bad once i do a basic drawing with all of the dimensions. just seems like a lot of work without a little drawing first
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:52 AM - JeffTheMess: how were the cad programs back then?
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe: i designed my duct right in SW, using the carriage as a guide
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe: can in the 70s? no batteries required :)
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:54 AM - Bill Monroe: I still have ny T-Square and that super cool lead sharpener
    Apr 16, 2015 at 5:56 AM - JeffTheMess: Nice!
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:57 AM - jbigler1986: if you don't mind Bill I will probable be asking you questions when I attempt a fan duct. Is there a better way to contact you
    Apr 16, 2015 at 5:57 AM - Bill Monroe: socalplanedoc@gmail.com
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:57 AM - Bill Monroe: and I dont mind at all
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:57 AM - jbigler1986: I was thinking something more on the fly
    Apr 16, 2015 at 5:58 AM - jbigler1986: like skype or something
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:58 AM - Bill Monroe: oh.. well there's always the (gasp) telephone :)
    Apr 16, 2015 at 5:58 AM - jbigler1986: what is that
    Apr 16, 2015 at 5:58 AM - jbigler1986: rotary style
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:58 AM - Stephen Capistron: OPnShape. Its like solid works but freee
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:58 AM - Bill Monroe: i've not used skype much, just to thal to my son in Korea.. but I can get it going
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:58 AM - Bill Monroe: uhh... I have a rotary phone
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:59 AM - Stephen Capistron: OnShape
    Apr 16, 2015 at 5:59 AM - jbigler1986: this gold looks orange
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:59 AM - Bill Monroe: does ohshape have sheet metal tools for bend allowances and louvers?
Apr 16, 2015 at 5:59 AM - Bill Monroe: how about electrical wiring design?
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:00 AM - Bill Monroe: FEA analysis?

Apr 16, 2015 at 6:02 AM - Stephen Capistron: none of the fancy stuff
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:02 AM - Stephen Capistron: yet
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:02 AM - jbigler1986: I already have solidworks and have fiddled with it a tiny tiny bit. Probably stick with it
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:02 AM - Bill Monroe: then, it's not like solidworks :)
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:02 AM - Stephen Capistron: what kills me with SW is in a year your version will be "out of date"
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:03 AM - Stephen Capistron: but it is worth every penny
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:03 AM - Bill Monroe: not really, I have clients that are still using 2010 just fine.. upgrade is a choice, not a requirement
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:04 AM - jbigler1986: opening newer files on older years are a headache though aren't they
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:04 AM - Stephen Capistron: it just requires those you work with (other companies) to maintain backwards compatibility
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:04 AM - JeffTheMess: I know next year Inventor is switching to "subscription based payment" is SW doing the same?
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:04 AM - Bill Monroe: most of the times files are not backwards compatible
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:04 AM - Bill Monroe: which is why I have to have 5 versions on my machine, but that's a unique situation
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:05 AM - jbigler1986: but if you always have the latest version for personal use none of that should be an issue
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:05 AM - Bill Monroe: correct
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:05 AM - Stephen Capistron: and the difference between say 2013 and 2015 isn't that substantial
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:05 AM - Bill Monroe: also correct
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:06 AM - Stephen Capistron: but then you constantly have to upgrade
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:06 AM - jbigler1986: since you can opening previous years files just not vice versa
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:06 AM - Bill Monroe: not correct
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:06 AM - Bill Monroe: like I said.. many dont upgrade each year and do just fine
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:06 AM - JeffTheMess: thats one reason I like Inventor, files are backwards compatible
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:07 AM - Bill Monroe: some will upgrade every few years but oddly enough that has to do with paid support
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:07 AM - jbigler1986: well since SW cost as much as S3D did for me that is not an issue ;)
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:08 AM - Bill Monroe: that's one thing Like about Dussalt.. they dont go after bootleggers using it for personal use
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:08 AM - JeffTheMess: you found s3d "that" way?
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:08 AM - jbigler1986: I do plan on purchasing S3D though. It's worth it. I wanted to try it first
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:08 AM - Stephen Capistron: any of you guys messed around with CREO elements direct?
    Apr 16, 2015 at 6:09 AM - jbigler1986: you want s3d jeff?
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:09 AM - Bill Monroe: i called them not long ago to see if they had a version for retired engineers that had been SW users at work, and wanted to keep using it afterwards for their own projects.... you'd never guess what they told me
    Apr 16, 2015 at 6:09 AM - jbigler1986: ......
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:09 AM - Bill Monroe: they just said "bootleg it"
    Apr 16, 2015 at 6:09 AM - jbigler1986: lmao. that's funny
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:09 AM - JeffTheMess: eayh i hear the support system they have is one of the best
    Apr 16, 2015 at 6:09 AM - Bill Monroe: I KNOW
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:10 AM - Bill Monroe: i could have fell out of my chair
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:10 AM - jbigler1986: that is very rare nowadays
    Apr 16, 2015 at 6:10 AM - JeffTheMess: wow
    Apr 16, 2015 at 6:10 AM - jbigler1986: jeff send me a pm
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:10 AM - Bill Monroe: what they said was, they see bootlegger either just checking it out, or u sing it for personal, non profit uses..
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:10 AM - JeffTheMess: those companies aren't stupid they know what is out there
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:11 AM - Bill Monroe: they feel that helps with their paid user base since there's mor knowledge out there
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:11 AM - jbigler1986: yeah if i got to the point that i made money off of parts that i make in SW I would pay for it
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:12 AM - Bill Monroe: yes, that's exactly what their expereince has been.. they've actually had sales that started with bootleging
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:13 AM - Bill Monroe: but if they find out you're using it for business, they'll tap you on your shoulder and want to chat
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:13 AM - JeffTheMess: the conpany i work for now heard i had some skills with cad, I told them what i use and i told them the price tag now they want to consider buying it for me, but they said "off record" get a "free copy" to see how best we can use it and how it can become a profit
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:14 AM - Bill Monroe: that happens a lot
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:15 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah the 30 days trial aren't enough anymore
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:17 AM - jbigler1986: its not that. features are usually very limited
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:18 AM - jbigler1986: when i was in the army we can bootlegged copies of windows on our laptops
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:18 AM - jbigler1986: no joke. pretty sure they found out got a settlement recently
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:19 AM - JeffTheMess: if you fought for our country you deserve it getting stuff like that for free
    Apr 16, 2015 at 6:19 AM - Bill Monroe: <hi-5>
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:20 AM - jbigler1986: yeah if only that were the case
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:20 AM - Bill Monroe: my son was given an MSDN account to get around those issues
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:20 AM - Bill Monroe: that reminds me,, he's re-upping his security plus cert today
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:20 AM - jbigler1986: half of the people that work on military bases are contractors now
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:21 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah that is true contractor are very popular with the military now
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:21 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. Thanks Obama
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:22 AM - Bill Monroe: contractos wont make a support call to a COB
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:23 AM - jbigler1986: i don't get it either. they get paid more than what we would pay for a military person to have the same job
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:24 AM - jbigler1986: did you get it jeff
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:24 AM - Bill Monroe: anytime cost enters the equation... the quality will be hurt
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:24 AM - JeffTheMess: correct me if i'm wrong but itsn't it due to more of a liability thing?
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:25 AM - Bill Monroe: liability? how do you figure?
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:25 AM - jbigler1986: it may be more of a benefits thing
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:25 AM - Stephen Capistron: its a benefits / long term accounting thing
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:26 AM - Bill Monroe: on the surface, the savings appears as reduced overhead
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:26 AM - Bill Monroe: and that's all accountants are ble to understand
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:26 AM - jbigler1986: until the shitty jobs need done over and over again
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:26 AM - JeffTheMess: muahahaha i got it thanks jb.
    Apr 16, 2015 at 6:26 AM - jbigler1986: yw
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:27 AM - Stephen Capistron: businesses do this sort of thing a lot. Kind of a head scratch-er in my world. Companies will pay mine up to $120 an hour for work a recent grad could do
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:27 AM - Bill Monroe: no company with finance/accounting at the helm ever succeeded
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:28 AM - Bill Monroe: the recent grad cant do it as fast, or as well.. bottom line, go with expereince and proven success
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:28 AM - jbigler1986: we do it too. we pay an IT consultant a ton when I keep telling our president that i can more than half of the same crap on top of what I already do
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:30 AM - Bill Monroe: oooo dont tell him that
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:30 AM - Stephen Capistron: some of the shit they've had me do is just literally watch a test instrument for weeks
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:30 AM - Bill Monroe: now he knows you dont work hard enough :)
    Apr 16, 2015 at 6:30 AM - JeffTheMess: lol
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:31 AM - Bill Monroe: my tests watch themselves, and email me when something wacky happens
    Apr 16, 2015 at 6:32 AM - Stephen Capistron: that's my point
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:32 AM - JeffTheMess: emission test are easy that way
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:33 AM - Bill Monroe: but that's because I use Labview on all my stuff
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:35 AM - JeffTheMess: good ol' labview
    Apr 16, 2015 at 6:35 AM - Bill Monroe: <hi-5>
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:36 AM - Bill Monroe: I love when the C lemmings come in my lab and scoff at it
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:36 AM - Bill Monroe: until they see me up and running while they're still typing main()
    Apr 16, 2015 at 6:38 AM - JeffTheMess: lol
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:39 AM - Bill Monroe: they're OK guys, I like tem
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:39 AM - Bill Monroe: them
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:39 AM - Bill Monroe: all they're trying to do is convince management to let them make machines too
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:40 AM - jbigler1986: jeff you will love the support. lots of times when i remove the part the part releases and the support stays on the bed
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:40 AM - Bill Monroe: jb, my robo just finshed a 3- part print done sequentially with the Hatchbox.. pefrection
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:40 AM - Bill Monroe: perfection
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:41 AM - JeffTheMess: im way too excited to use it for their support system!
    Apr 16, 2015 at 6:41 AM - jbigler1986: i haven't actually tested that yet Bill
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:41 AM - Bill Monroe: (you can tell a point-and-click labview guy from a c programmer cuz the labview guy cant type :)
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: i ran S3D both ways, sequential saved 8 minutes on this job
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:42 AM - JeffTheMess: well atleast your company uses labview mine has some guy writing the script
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: omg

Apr 16, 2015 at 6:54 AM - JeffTheMess: the famous surge test in emc
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:55 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, years ago I made a machine used to record the shock pressure wave for test explosives... on acceptance test day, I was the only one hiding
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:57 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah for us its more of a "whats that smell?" Caps exploding thermistors poping
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:02 AM - jbigler1986: well i thought this piggy bank was going to be bigger. woops
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:08 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
    Apr 16, 2015 at 7:09 AM - jbigler1986: morning
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:10 AM - jbigler1986: i may have to remove the back duct too. there is barely any clearance on the back at the bottom.
    Apr 16, 2015 at 7:12 AM - JeffTheMess: morning,thats sucks jb
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:14 AM - jbigler1986: although the open fan on front has way more air flow than the one with the duct. i put my hand under them this morning and felt the difference
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:14 AM - jbigler1986: so it might be better to remove the duct anyways
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:14 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i think my ducts are too restricting
    Apr 16, 2015 at 7:16 AM - jbigler1986: I will remove it when I get home
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:17 AM - Mike Kelly: am i crazy or is the file TSG uploaded last night the same as the original fan shroud
    Apr 16, 2015 at 7:17 AM - jbigler1986: i didn't look at it
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:18 AM - Mike Kelly: guess i'll see what MG says
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:18 AM - jbigler1986: i wonder if open fans or ducts are better. has anyone done a test print
    Apr 16, 2015 at 7:18 AM - jbigler1986: with both and compared?
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:19 AM - Stephen Capistron: i imagine there would be a difference based on object size
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:20 AM - Mike Kelly: i think a bridging test would be a good way to tell
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:20 AM - Stephen Capistron: a small object will probably benefit from the duct
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:20 AM - Stephen Capistron: something big, i doubt it
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:20 AM - Mike Glass: Morning
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:20 AM - Mike Kelly: mornin
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:21 AM - Mike Kelly: mike when you looked at tsg's file was it the same as the original shroud?
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:21 AM - JeffTheMess: good morning
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:21 AM - Mike Glass: Oh didnt see it
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:22 AM - Stephen Capistron: seemed that way to me
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:22 AM - Stephen Capistron: the only thing he may have added was a blend where it transitions from round for the fan to rectangular for the heat sink
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:23 AM - Mike Kelly: ok strange
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:23 AM - Mike Glass: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bw9Fe7LfIIUTWk0zR0pwN2FzdWc/view?usp=sharing Here is the one I did
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:24 AM - Mike Kelly: i still wish i had some idea where my original file went...
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:26 AM - Mike Kelly: made it longer and added a hole?
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:26 AM - Mike Glass: not longer
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:27 AM - Mike Glass: I cut extruded a cylinder, then did a fillet where the screw goes
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:28 AM - Mike Kelly: ah
    Apr 16, 2015 at 7:29 AM - Mike Glass: fast n dirty..lol
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:29 AM - Mike Glass: I didnt like my wires haning down in front of the fan, reason for the hole in the front
    Apr 16, 2015 at 7:33 AM - JeffTheMess:
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:39 AM - Mike Kelly: i think i've all but given up on finding the source
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:40 AM - Mike Glass: Did you look in your temp folders?
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:40 AM - Mike Glass: or autobackup
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:41 AM - Mike Kelly: orrrr I just found it
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:41 AM - Mike Kelly: i apparently didn't save it as a new name
    Apr 16, 2015 at 7:41 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm an ass
    Apr 16, 2015 at 7:42 AM - jbigler1986: has anyone tried this
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:42 AM - Mike Kelly: i can already turn drawings into 3D models
    Apr 16, 2015 at 7:42 AM - Mike Kelly: it's kinda what I do
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:44 AM - Mike Kelly: mike what did this mean anyways "Mike it is 3.90 mm center to center from the top fan screw"
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:46 AM - Mike Glass: The screws that hold the fan right, measure over 3.90mm on center, that will put you on center on the screw for the switch.
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: gotcha
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm just copying the original
Apr 16, 2015 at 7:51 AM - Mike Kelly: what do you think about wire holders on both sides
    Apr 16, 2015 at 8:09 AM - jbigler1986: never
    Apr 16, 2015 at 8:09 AM - jbigler1986: jk. thaat's a good idea
Apr 16, 2015 at 8:11 AM - Mike Glass: Yea that would be fine.
Apr 16, 2015 at 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:720018 mike can you verify the file for me, kthx
Apr 16, 2015 at 8:13 AM - JeffTheMess: thats very pretty mike K good job
    Apr 16, 2015 at 8:13 AM - jbigler1986: i need to move my x switch. it's annoying
Apr 16, 2015 at 8:16 AM - Mike Kelly: a good render makes everything look better :)
Apr 16, 2015 at 8:16 AM - jbigler1986: how is the airflow? looks like about half of the fan is blocked my the carriage .didn't know how much of a difference that makes
Apr 16, 2015 at 8:17 AM - Mike Kelly: i've been curious about that
Apr 16, 2015 at 8:17 AM - Mike Kelly: jb did you still want a version for the v6?
    Apr 16, 2015 at 8:17 AM - jbigler1986: :D :D :D :D :D :D
    Apr 16, 2015 at 8:18 AM - jbigler1986: if you wouldn't mind
Apr 16, 2015 at 8:19 AM - jbigler1986: on the back fan mount i had to add a few thick nylon washers to lower it some
Apr 16, 2015 at 8:20 AM - jbigler1986: or else the duct would have been pointing at about the heat break
Apr 16, 2015 at 8:21 AM - Mike Glass: What no holes for the wires :(
Apr 16, 2015 at 8:25 AM - Mike Kelly: is that what that was for?
Apr 16, 2015 at 8:25 AM - Mike Kelly: which wires?

Apr 16, 2015 at 8:29 AM - Mike Glass: sweet mutha, ok meeting time bbl
Apr 16, 2015 at 8:32 AM - jbigler1986: dual extruder with support material?
Apr 16, 2015 at 8:34 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Apr 16, 2015 at 8:34 AM - Mike Kelly: simplify is a little light on adding support from a second extruder so it doesn't adhere great all the time
    Apr 16, 2015 at 8:35 AM - jbigler1986: still looks good though

    Apr 16, 2015 at 8:39 AM - jbigler1986: that is a crazy idea
Apr 16, 2015 at 8:40 AM - jbigler1986: do you think you will have the e3d version done today?

Apr 16, 2015 at 11:25 AM - Mike Glass: Mike, one more edit, can you put a fillet on one the fan side of the wire passthrough not sure it you missed it or would work.
Apr 16, 2015 at 11:26 AM - jbigler1986: is it big enough for the clip to pass through?
Apr 16, 2015 at 11:27 AM - Mike Glass: what clip?
Apr 16, 2015 at 11:31 AM - jbigler1986: on the end of the thermistor and heating element
Apr 16, 2015 at 11:32 AM - Mike Glass: ? why would you do that. just push the wires in the slot
    Apr 16, 2015 at 11:33 AM - jbigler1986: is it a grooved slot or a hole?
Apr 16, 2015 at 11:34 AM - Mike Glass: Slot dude

Apr 16, 2015 at 11:41 AM - Mike Kelly: oh yeah that's supposed to be today
Apr 16, 2015 at 11:41 AM - Mike Kelly: you should cross post that to r/3dprinting as well
Apr 16, 2015 at 11:42 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah mike the reason i didn't fillet that was it was being difficult
Apr 16, 2015 at 11:43 AM - Stephen Capistron: these are plastic. if you really want that fillet grab a file or sand paper
Apr 16, 2015 at 11:43 AM - Mike Glass: could you make the round-over smaller it may work.
Apr 16, 2015 at 11:43 AM - jbigler1986: Wondering how some new machines are shipping with 5/16th rods

Apr 16, 2015 at 11:47 AM - Mike Kelly: ok sure mike but why does it matter
Apr 16, 2015 at 11:47 AM - Mike Glass: I dont get that reddit thing.
Apr 16, 2015 at 11:47 AM - Mike Kelly: it's kinda like an RSS where users rate the content to show you intersting things
Apr 16, 2015 at 11:47 AM - Mike Kelly: took me a couple tried to get into it but now i'm hooked
Apr 16, 2015 at 11:48 AM - Mike Glass: seems archaic
Apr 16, 2015 at 11:48 AM - Mike Kelly: it's actually really progressive
Apr 16, 2015 at 11:48 AM - Mike Kelly: a lot of other news feeds kinda took the idea
Apr 16, 2015 at 11:48 AM - Mike Kelly: most news sites get information from browsing reddit these days because of how fast it propogates information
Apr 16, 2015 at 11:49 AM - Mike Kelly: it's kinda like twitter but with more directed content without needing to subscribe to individual users
Apr 16, 2015 at 11:49 AM - Mike Kelly: you subscribe to a topic and then people share information to it there

    Apr 16, 2015 at 11:56 AM - jbigler1986: ^ that's where i got mine
Apr 16, 2015 at 11:58 AM - dbvanhorn: Not Bowden, correct?
    Apr 16, 2015 at 11:58 AM - jbigler1986: correct
    Apr 16, 2015 at 11:59 AM - Mike Kelly: direct/universal
Apr 16, 2015 at 11:59 AM - Mike Glass: Awesome, thanks Mike:)
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:01 PM - Mike Glass: I thought they had a universal kit for the v6
    Apr 16, 2015 at 12:02 PM - dbvanhorn: Thanks!
    Apr 16, 2015 at 12:02 PM - jbigler1986: that is it
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:03 PM - Mike Glass: doh
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:03 PM - Mike Glass: You can make the direct bowden though
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:03 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah bowden just includes a long tube and PTC fitting
    Apr 16, 2015 at 12:05 PM - jbigler1986: how much tube comes with it. i don't remember
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:05 PM - Mike Glass: Didn't you buy the bowden one jb?
    Apr 16, 2015 at 12:05 PM - jbigler1986: no. universal
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:05 PM - Mike Glass: Oh I thought you tried bowden.
    Apr 16, 2015 at 12:06 PM - jbigler1986: bought the extra tubing
    Apr 16, 2015 at 12:06 PM - Mike Kelly: i think it's like a meter
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:06 PM - jbigler1986: which is kinda nice to have around
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:06 PM - jbigler1986: so i'm not afraid to destroy mine cleaning a clog since i have more
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:07 PM - Mike Glass: How far can you run bowden tubing?
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:07 PM - Mike Kelly: depends on the supplied torque
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:08 PM - jbigler1986: gotta worry about oozing and stuff more the longer you go it seems
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:10 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah you get some elasticity in the filament
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:10 PM - jbigler1986: I don't mind printing slow so i don't think I will try it again. Unless I had a printer that the bed moved up and own instead of the print head
    Apr 16, 2015 at 12:12 PM - jbigler1986: DOWN*
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:16 PM - Mike Glass: so 3ft too long then?
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:18 PM - jbigler1986: i mean if you have a powerful enough extruder you could go pretty far. I think mine was like 2 and a half feet or a little less
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:23 PM - Mike Kelly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/lrfy5uv1352dclg/v6 Fan Dual.STL?dl=0 merry christmas JB

Apr 16, 2015 at 12:34 PM - jbigler1986: i can just drill it if you don't want to mess with it
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:38 PM - Mike Kelly: it should avoid it
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:40 PM - jbigler1986: gotta reroute my hotend fan wire
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:41 PM - toy: home depot sucks... i need a M3 tap and the only one they have is bundled with 6 other taps i dont need
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:41 PM - Mike Kelly: sounds about right
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:42 PM - toy: they sell the standard ones separate but hate on the metrics
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:44 PM - Mike Kelly: because america
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:47 PM - toy: if u want my vote for president just say u will get rid of standard and goto metric... i could care less about your other policies =)

    Apr 16, 2015 at 12:51 PM - Wikid: lol

Apr 16, 2015 at 12:51 PM - Wikid: I always laughed because all the CNC machines we had are hard coded metic, if you used inch it just converted it lol
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:52 PM - Wikid: Most of our 5 axis we coded in metric
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:53 PM - JeffTheMess: we haven't switched because companies would have to pay more to switch their labels and I kid you not
    Apr 16, 2015 at 12:53 PM - JeffTheMess: not
Apr 16, 2015 at 12:53 PM - Mike Kelly: and also all the road signs

Apr 16, 2015 at 12:58 PM - jbigler1986: hook me up with the sw file and i can add it unless you want to
Apr 16, 2015 at 1:02 PM - Mike Kelly: groove running along the top?
Apr 16, 2015 at 1:02 PM - toy: i guess 1.905 meters doesnt sound as good as 6'3" but besides that...
Apr 16, 2015 at 1:03 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah .2m doesn't sound as impressive as 8 inches either...
    Apr 16, 2015 at 1:03 PM - toy: excatly
Apr 16, 2015 at 1:04 PM - jbigler1986: like inbetween the mounting hole and where the heatsink goes so i can run my fan wire across to the other side
Apr 16, 2015 at 1:05 PM - Mike Kelly: what's wrong with the notches i already made
Apr 16, 2015 at 1:05 PM - jbigler1986: oh shit. nevermind my dumbass

Apr 16, 2015 at 1:27 PM - jbigler1986: it will keep the wires secure though
Apr 16, 2015 at 1:40 PM - jbigler1986: but yeah if moving stuff around it would be annoying
Apr 16, 2015 at 1:45 PM - Mike Kelly: that's what the notches are for + zip ties
Apr 16, 2015 at 1:46 PM - Mike Kelly: you must not kill fans as often as i do either

    Apr 16, 2015 at 6:31 PM - jbigler1986: Printing it now
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:34 PM - jbigler1986: They were either angled to low and were below the nozzle or were to high and pointing at the heatblock
Apr 16, 2015 at 6:37 PM - Mike Glass: maybe there is just better airflow now, no constriction frm fan shroud.
